(03:59):
always elicit deep lasting health. DoctorMartin is excuse me, a certified graduate

the author of the book we're talkingabout today, Maximize Your Healing Power.
And she has a podcast, aradio show, if you will, call

Maximum Medicine and it's aired on TransformationTalk Radio. And you can find out
more about her back. I'm goingto her website and that's Dr Sharonmartin dot
com. So d R S HA R. O N M A RTI
N dot com dot Mark. Howabout that that sounded like a lot.
(04:45):
Holy moly, Well you've been busy, girl, you've been busy. And
first of all, thank you somuch for coming on the show and sharing
this wonderful, wonderful book with me. And now you have a very interesting
story of how you kind of Ifell into this on a Friday, So
why don't you tell us the audienceabout that. So I am a great
(05:10):
student. So I went to college, and then I thought I wanted to
go to veterinary school, and Istumbled into graduate school, and then stumbled
into working here, and then stumbledinto medical school. Truthfully, it was
stumbling all along. So there Iam finally a physician in rural south central
(05:30):
Pennsylvania in a very busy office thatI had set up. I open to
solo practice, slogging along, andFriday night, all I want to do
is go home. I've had enough, the week has been long, and
the doors are closed. But atfive o'clock my receptionist comes back and tells
(05:54):
me there's a young man in thewaiting room who just walked in off the
street. And needless to say,my thoughts were not exactly charitable. Only
what am I going to do?Now? What's going on at this time?
And night turned out it was inthe psychiatric realm. So then my
brain is, oh, no,do I have to involuntarily commit him?
(06:17):
If I do, I have tocall the state police to card him off.
All of these thoughts. So incomesthis young man who really is a
doll. I mean when I reflectedon this years later, he was so
filled with light. Now I didn'tknow anything about light at that time.
I wasn't into metaphysical or anything. And he sat down and he told me
(06:41):
that he had dreams where he sawthings, and that he had dreams about
what was going to happen to people, his mother's friends, his neighbors.
He would be out on the streetin the daytime and he would see things
about to happen. And so I'mprodding him because I'm thinking to myself,
are you schizophrenic? Are you hallucinatingall these medical things? And I got
(07:04):
his girlfriend to come in to confirmthat what he was seeing were predictive dreams
and that this young man, nowI know a little bit. I mean
I understood psychics, I understood spirits. On the other side the afterlife.
I already I knew that was truefor me before this, and his girlfriend
(07:28):
confirmed that he had this unbelievably predictiveand intuitive ability. And so I sat
there and I thought, mainstream medicinewill not hurt will not help this young
man. It will hurt him.It will give him a label that he
doesn't deserve. It doesn't understand histalents, it doesn't understand how he operates
(07:51):
in the world. And all they'lldo is give him sedatives and antipsychotics,
which is not healing. And Iknew that deeply that it would not be
healing. He said to him,And this was the moment for me,
the guiding moment for the next twentyyears of my life. I said to
(08:11):
him, you are not crazy. And he almost fell off the chair.
He was so relieved, he wasalmost sobbing with the relief because he was
so anxious about this. I said, you have gifts that most people don't
understand. And I said, butwhat you have to do is be in
charge of them. You have tohave the control to open and let it
(08:33):
in. These insights in when youwant them, not while you're sleeping.
You have to be able to shutit off your choice, and he left
there feeling phenomenal. And I leftthere with this knowing that mainstream medicine does
not have all the answers. Andshortly after I was reading a book that
(08:54):
I was drawn to by Alberto Violdocalled Shaman, Healer and Sage. I
saw Alberto's face and had this zingof knowing that I needed to study with
him, and I started studying PeruvianShamanism, which is all about healing the
light body, the energy body. From there, just an exploration of metaphysical
(09:18):
and it opened my eyes to whatis so lacking in mainstream medicine, to
see the person's sole journey, tosee the energy field and how it's affected,
to see the imprints from past livesputting a heaviness in someone's path,
(09:39):
and it just started me searching forbringing in more what I call to find
maximum medicine. And so that's whatthis book is all about, is for
people to take back the power tohelp peel themselves. You know, get
the get mainstream medicine's approach, getany other healing provider caregivers approach, but
(10:05):
bring it all together, because there'sreal power when we bring back the indigenous
ways of doing things. And oneof the key things that the indigenous knew,
and I can say probably in everyculture that I can stop and think
about, is we are interdependent withevery other species on this planet, with
(10:28):
trees, with nature, with thegalaxy. And if humans cannot get that
knowing back again and start operating fromthat position, we're going to keep going
down the tubes. So for me, when I studied shamanism, it was
so clear that everything had intelligence andvalue, and that interdependence meant that I
(10:56):
could find resources and allies in theunseen world world, and all of a
sudden I had incredible power that wereavailable to me. It was wonderful.
Well, you know, it's interestingthat people they want that type of power
that you're talking about, but theydon't necessarily know how to go about it,
or they go about it in away that's overpowering, as if they
(11:18):
feel they need to overpower someone elsein order to have what they are searching
for. And it's really quite sadthat we were in that state. But
hopefully with people tuning in, meditating, perhaps tuning in working with your guides,
that we can switch that energy around. So you went from working with
(11:41):
this man to saying that you know, allopathic medicine is just not enough,
and you started the shamanism pathway. How is it that you were so able
to make an adjustment like that whenthe majority that I I've spoken to of
(12:01):
allopathic doctors they seem to be stuckjust deep in science. They can't move
another direction. What is it thatyou feel that you possessed that could allow
you to open up to expand SoI think there's two things there. The
(12:22):
first is, you're right. Ittook unbelievable courage. It took me probably
I'm going to say, seven oreight years to even start saying any of
this stuff out loud. But thething that I have found, I have
always had metaphysical experiences. But I'vegot if you go to a psychic and
(12:46):
they tell you, having never metyou know your first name, that's all,
and they tell you things about yourselfthen, and that's happened over and
over and over, then I havealways said, since I was a teamager,
there is a truth, a universaltruth out there that people can tap
into, and that gives it givesme a knowing of the unseen world or
(13:13):
a belief in the unseen world. So having that spiritual and metaphysical perspective,
I can't not include that because itis so present for me, and I've
trained now to bring it more present. But when you read way back when
the Seth book, when you readabout energies, how spirit downloads messages to
(13:41):
people, how do how does psychicsknow how to tear out card readers read
exactly what fits for you? That'sto me, that's not chance, that's
not a bunch of hoecum. Thatis real spiritual truth out there that you
can tap into. So for me, it's and it gives me such a
(14:03):
richness in life that I don't knowwhy anybody else wouldn't want that. I
mean, science is limited in termsof its universal applications. It's brilliant in
terms of its microscopic drilled down tothe genetics to the chemistry of cancer,
(14:26):
but it is missing looking outward. And I think we need to we need
to blend that. We need toget that back together because we need a
revolution in mainstream medicine. Yeah,we're doing. I think it's coming slowly
but surely here in the West Coast. I'm a member of the hm Kaiser
(14:48):
and they're finally recognizing raiki, sothat's you know, that's good. They've
recognized acupuncture for a while, sothey're slowly but surely dragging their feet and
getting there. In the meantime, folks, it's important for us, and
I think this is the key thingthat Doc Marton has said, is your
power. You have the power tomake decisions regarding your health, and it's
(15:09):
important that you do so, DocMartin, why is it so important to
express gratitude as we're going through ourhealing process? Starting out from the first
simple When you start to feel gratefulfor something, you start to feel good.
(15:33):
It softens you, and it putsyou in a even if it's just
for a moment, in a temporaryspace where everything is right with the world.
When I think about it energetically,it moves you into your heart space.
And in your heart space, thatis one of the key focal points
(15:56):
of your energy field. So whenyou're in gratitude, you're also well.
If we now look at it froma spiritual point of view, you are
also acknowledging that you are interdependent withmany other beings in the world, and
so you get back in touch withthat interconnected web. So that's softening that
(16:23):
coming from the heart, that knowingthere's no superiority in gratitude, there's no
top down dynamic, there's no domination. This is a joining, a softening,
a heart opening, a connectedness. Those energies in and of themselves then
(16:48):
open you. They soften your field, they soften your hard thoughts, and
then what happens in the way Ifeel about it is a lot of times
that's the space where you can startto hear the whispers of spirit, and
then you can start to be guidedcorrectly. I agree one hundred percent.
But tell us a little bit moreabout this. You know, the whispers
(17:11):
of spirit is great, but youcan also hear those whispers from like our
ancestors and power animals, and Isend it masters and such. Right,
So tell us a little about thatand how we can possibly connect with say
an elemental or nature, spirit orsomething. So I love, I love.
(17:33):
What shamanism taught me was the connectionwith the unseen world, and you
can do that in any encounter youwant to make. So let's say it
would take nature. I love havea little garden. I love working in
it. I love in the spring, digging in the soil, and to
(17:53):
be there and open up to theenergies, even if you don't call them
a spear it. There are energies. There are vibratory frequencies floating all around
the way a marigold might interact, the way a tomato will really grow well
in that particular soil. When youare open to those other frequencies, you
(18:18):
are then able to sense messages fromthem, and those messages might just be
in knowings. You don't have toget a whole dialogue, but you can,
and this is one of the keyaspects of your healing process that I
teach. You can sit in asacred space, in a sacred moment of
(18:41):
meditation and have a dialogue with something. Have a dialogue with your knee that
hurts, Have a dialogue with thewise healer that exists in your body,
in your mind, body spirit,in your field. Have a dialogue with
the guardian angel that you feel isthere with you all the time, and
(19:03):
ask for advice on what to donext. And if you don't have a
lot of questions that time, youcome back another time and take the conversation
further. When you are allowing thosemessages to come in, that information to
come in, whether it comes becauseyou see it, you hear it,
(19:23):
you feel it, you sense it, you just get a knowing. Whatever
way you do, those moments openyou to greater wisdom. Well, it's
time, folks to open up tothat wisdom now, Dot Martin. You
talk about, as I do,beliefs, and my opinion is beliefs play
(19:45):
a major role in one's life, regardless of what they're going through. Could
you talk to us about beliefs andhealing. One of the things that I
find the most frustrating for me inwe're came with patients, and frustrating because
I see the blocks that patients haveput up around themselves, and those I
(20:11):
believe come from limiting beliefs. Andthose beliefs can be as deep held as
you were taught by your parents associety around you, because those beliefs,
even if they seem like they havea good side to them, any belief
is by its very nature limiting anybelief means you don't believe something else.
(20:36):
And I have seen patients who havebuilt a cage around themselves with these ideas
that I can't do this or Iam that There are patients, unfortunately who
get they get some sort of goodiesout of having numerous diagnoses. Perhaps it
(21:00):
feels like attention, perhaps it feelslike they're special, but that leads them
to hold on to a diagnosis andto think that they are only themselves because
of or part of this diagnosis, and that it's very hard to see a
future self without that diagnosis. Sothat that's where I call it limiting.
(21:26):
And if you want to walk downa path that is possible but not highly
probable, then you have to shiftyour beliefs. You have to open to
any possibility. And even if thebest you can do is to suspend disbelief,
don't say no, I can't dothat, or I'm always going to
(21:48):
be this, or I always haveback pain, I always have knee pain.
Oh I'm a such and such.Put any kind of diagnosis in there.
Well, okay, you are untilyou're not. Do you want to
not be? Let's look at theyou that exists without that. So that
(22:08):
is a very big step of bootingout those limiting beliefs, and it's not
easy. That takes courage to look. Yeah, it does for all of
us. But in your book,I think you have a chapter on lose
the Story the Past, So itis possible by even changing or adjusting our
(22:30):
thinking process. And what I meanby the thinking process is those thoughts that
occur in our mind, not whatwe may be currently thinking at any given
time. So if we can dothat, does that help shift that energy?
Yes? And if you are reallyready to look at how you have
defined yourself and be ready to knowthat that is not the true you.
(22:56):
And this is where metaphysical and spiritualpractices come in. You know that you
are more than your physical body andput those beliefs aside and then see you
know, that's like opening the doorto the birdcage. Okay, so we
(23:18):
can set it aside, we canmove further and fly my hi yep,
my high yes, which I absolutelylove now. And the average person,
the people that are listening to thispodcast, I feel that they're above average
and metaphysics because I don't do therules stuff. Okay, do a serious
(23:41):
work and they follow that. Howif they haven't yet been able to experience,
see, feel, or just knowabout their energy field, how do
you suggest, say go about thatso they can actually believe that it's truly
there for them. In my book, I teach some basic exercises of sensing
(24:06):
your energy field and visualizing as thePeruvian Shamans taught it to us. There
is a tapestry, a multi coloredlight filament tapestry that is like a gauzy
(24:26):
mosquito netting around you, and youcan do a visualization and an experiential exercise
where you sense that and you cansense for broken areas, weak areas,
and then continue to sense your repairingof them. So that and a couple
(24:47):
of other exercises in my book areways to upgrade your ability to sense it,
or to start your ability if you'venever sensed it before. It Folks,
you can always till you make it. Okay, use your imagination because
it's so important to use your imaginationto tap into these areas because it's been
forced out of us forever by organizedreligion in its time. If you're open
(25:14):
to it, to bringing them back, you teach a few rituals, tell
us about at least one of themfor healing. So I love. I
don't do this a lot because itis a bit involved, but I love
doing a ritual that is sort ofa variation on a ritual from the Andies
(25:38):
called the Despacho d Spaco ceremony anda despacco means a dispatch or a message,
and the intention of this ritual isto sit in sacred space and build
a gift and offering to spirit. And the spatcho practice by the Andean Shamans
(26:03):
is quite involved, and it isa physical bundle that is made and then
burned in the fire. But Ithink you can also get the same energetics
from being out in nature and sittingdown and with the pieces of twig and
leaf and pine cone and woodland floweryou find to create in front of you.
(26:26):
It's like you're making a dinner plateof goodies for spirit. And Spirit
can be God, angels, ascended, master power. Animals are higher energies
when you're taking them in that context. But you're placing objects down in moments
(26:48):
of gratitude. And with each objectyou placed down on this pete, this
plate in front of you, andyou don't have to have a real plate.
You're doing this perhaps on the dirtor the grass. Every time you're
doing that, you're having a prayeror a wish or a comment to Spirit.
(27:10):
I really would like to shift this. And you're building a little a
little gift. You're building a adiorama you're building your prayers in this little
moment in space and time of beautythat you are saying, Spirit, I
am painting you this picture. Iam building you this gorgeous offering. Here,
(27:38):
hear my prayers, hear my wishes, and you put it there with
sitting there and it could take fiveminutes, but you want to really spend
some time and put your truest intentionsand wishes into it, and then you
bless it and you leave it fornature to take it and do it's turning
(28:00):
it over. You turn it overto Spirit and allow the unfolding to happen.
Those moments of being in that sacredspace in communion with higher beings than
yourself are really precious and very powerful. Yes they are, if you can
just allow yourself to go there.Bug Martin, what do you see as
(28:22):
the future of medicine. We haveto we have to wake up and start
bringing back the mystical and the waysare indigenous operated. There is so much
power in recognizing our interdependence, andespecially in the field of consciousness because we
(28:44):
can tap into that universal information field, and we need to bring those kinds
of things into mainstream medicine and trulyhave a mind, body spirit continuum.
We don't have that right now.So while we're making incredible strides in the
(29:06):
actual biology of things, I wouldlove us to now make strides in the
mystical and the unseen world and bringthat in. I mean, how many
cultures for literally thousands of years havedone healing and medicine in the absence of
prescriptions and X rays, and peoplestayed alive and tribes stayed together and miraculous
(29:34):
healings occurred. There's power there. We need to bring that in and use
and combine it. Yes, we'redoing in proof that you know all of
that happened, is that we're here. Okay, Yeah, we have survived.
You know our lineage I survived tothis present day. So it can
be done. Now. When wego to your website D R S H
(29:57):
A R O Rtien dot com.So doctor Martin dot com. But Dr
go spell up doctor. What arewe going to find there? So you'll
sort of see more about me.You will see a link to purchasing my
book Maximize your healing Power. Andon the book the page about the book,
(30:21):
you will find a place that ifyou buy your book on Amazon,
bring the order number back put itin and you'll get a link to download
all these freebees which are so cooland so fun, and you'll get to
just you'll get to see the someof the archived radio shows I've done called
Maximum Medicine and Sacred Magic and anywayyou'll learn about me. Okay, and
(30:48):
are you currently working with folks rightnow? Yes? Is the long answer.
The short answer is, right now, I'm doing all this book launch
and book signing, and so it'sgoing to be a couple of months before
I have spaces opened up. ButI am getting my website open to have
(31:11):
places where people hours and times peoplecan schedule. So again, you can
email me through my website and thenI can keep everybody posted when the schedule
opens up. Okay, great,Now, could you give us a pearl
of wisdom? We've had so muchwonderful time together today. Can you give
us a pearl of wisdom before yougo? So? What I deeply believe
(31:36):
in and what the purpose of mybook and really about my work as a
physician and alternative healer is, weas humans have so much power. We
need to tap into it, weneed to take it back, we need
to use it. And when wedo and this is my bigger goal beyond
(31:57):
your personal healing, which I loveto have that happen. But when you
are healing on a personal level, then you bring your light into the world
more strongly. And we need toshift the trajectory that humanity is on right
now. And I believe the morepeople can open up to their deeper,
truer healed nature, the more weget that energy coming in and creative ideas
(32:24):
and ability to shift where the worldis going. Well. Thank you,
that is profound, and thank youfor sharing that with us and doctor Sharon
Murton. Thank you for being withus today as we collectively get over it
and move on with our path.I really appreciate your time and attention today.
(32:45):
Thank you, Monique. I lovedtalking with you. It was nice
to be here. I enjoyed youtoo. And everyone please remember that the
most important choice that you can makeis what you choose to make important.
Consider making the masterful choice of maximizeinto your healing power, but the blessings
like my b Thank you. Hi,
