Imagine a feast so momentous that it has been etched into the fabric of a nation’s history. The first Thanksgiving in 1621 was a celebration of survival, community, and gratitude. The Pilgrims, with help from the Wampanoag people, gathered to share the bounty of the land they had worked tirelessly to tame. Fast-forward over four centuries, and Thanksgiving remains a cherished tradition—yet, the survival of the feast itself feels under siege in our current economic climate.

Welcome to *#GoRight with Peter Boykin*, where we sift through the facts, confront the narratives, and uphold the ideals of our Constitutional Republic. Let’s dive in.

Wumpanog people gathered to share the bounty of the land

(04:25):

where we shift through the facts, confront the narratives, stuff

the turkey, and uphold the ideals of our constitutional republic.

Speaker 7 (04:52):
Let's dive in. We'll be right back.

Speaker 17 (04:56):
Remember we fight for what's right because it's time to
go right, Time.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
To go right, time to go right, time to go right.

Speaker 17 (05:21):
Here's the facts. Thanksgiving dinner is no longer just a meal.
It's a litmus test for the economy under the Biden administration.

Speaker 7 (05:30):
Thank God Donald Trump's coming.

Speaker 17 (05:32):
The American Farm Bureau Federation reports at the average cost
of Thanksgiving for a family of ten has skyrocketed by
more than twenty percent compared to the last Thanksgiving.

Speaker 7 (05:42):
Under Donald Trump.

Speaker 17 (05:44):
There's some key cost increases since twenty twenty. Turkey is
up thirty two percent, pumpkin pie mix up twenty two
point four percent, rolls up fifty six point four percent,
pie shells up forty percent, green peas up for eighteen
point five percent. Stuffing up forty five point two percent.
I'll also state that the little metal pans, the aluminum

(06:07):
pans you put the turkey in to bake, those were like,
I think fourteen dollars. They were like, no, we'll just
use a metal pan, I mean, not a disposable pan.
We could buy a metal pan for a lot cheaper.
These democrats tunt slight cost decreases over the past two years,
the overall increase since twenty twenty remains undeniable.

Speaker 7 (06:29):
The American Farm.

Speaker 17 (06:30):
Bureau noted that consumers are still grappling with inflationary pressures, stating, quote,
it will take more than just the past two years
improvements to ease the paint.

Speaker 7 (06:41):
Now here's the opinion.

Speaker 17 (06:42):
Over regulation and misguided policy have contributed significantly to this inflation.
Former President Donald Trump plans to reverse this trend by
reducing regulatory burdens on farmers and businesses, and his selection
of Lee Zelden to helm the Environmental Protection Agency. The
signals a return to fair and swift deregulatory decisions aimed

(07:06):
at empowering American businesses to thrive. Holiday spirit rescued by
retailers now retail giants like Walmart and Aldie are stepping
up to offer pre Biden era prices, easing the burden
for families.

Speaker 7 (07:22):
At least finally somebody stepped up.

Speaker 17 (07:26):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 18 (07:28):
I just want to thank everyone for being here, and
not just how our immediate family, talking about all the
cousins and their kids and everybody.

Speaker 17 (07:35):
That's how it should be.

Speaker 18 (07:36):
That's right, Papa. I know everyone's busy with their lives
and has their own things that they have to do,
but it means so much as you're here with us
and our home for lolidays, and.

Speaker 9 (07:45):
That goes for both of us.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
How come your damn sister goodn't hopes because my sister's.

Speaker 17 (07:50):
House is a dump, Daniel, No, I got to.

Speaker 13 (07:52):
Pay for all of his damn food.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
Oh hell no.

Speaker 18 (07:56):
As I have always said, this house is happier when
it's get out of the bathroom.

Speaker 19 (08:03):
Well, son, you and Donna have been such gracious hosts.
I just hope I haven't been a nuisance.

Speaker 7 (08:09):
Hell no, So what are.

Speaker 17 (08:14):
You talking about?

Speaker 7 (08:15):
We love having you here.

Speaker 18 (08:17):
Oh and of course this is our first Christmas without
soon to be son in law Matthew. When you two
got engaged, all of us were just smiling from ear
to ear.

Speaker 11 (08:29):
Why why can't I marry him because he's white?

Speaker 16 (08:33):
Yes, welcome to the family, Matthew.

Speaker 12 (08:37):
You guys are being so racist, said right.

Speaker 13 (08:40):
We are no offense, Matthew taking.

Speaker 18 (08:43):
And then there's Brian back from college. It sure is
great to have my boy back home for a few weeks.
Feels good to be home dad, and.

Speaker 7 (08:52):
Pushing channel channel is a soul.

Speaker 17 (08:55):
No, No, I sold you yesterday.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
Let's get your useless black.

Speaker 6 (08:57):
Ass out of here.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I know how to do.

Speaker 18 (08:59):
Just go stupid, ad.

Speaker 16 (09:02):
Son, come knack in here.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Onely thing, I forget me pot.

Speaker 19 (09:05):
Well, I just want to say that as you get older,
it all goes that much quicker, and we should all
cherish this time that we spend together as a family
this Christmas.

Speaker 12 (09:15):
I know I will.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
Thank you Pop.

Speaker 20 (09:25):
You know.

Speaker 18 (09:25):
I could go on, but I know better than to
let a meal. My wife spends so much time cooking.

Speaker 17 (09:31):
Go call oh stop. I just threw it together.

Speaker 18 (09:40):
Anyway, Thank you all for being here, and I really
mean that. You know it might be a little crowded.

Speaker 19 (09:45):
It's room is off limits.

Speaker 18 (09:48):
It get off me and we might even get on
each other's nerves a little.

Speaker 7 (09:51):
Bit, you know, whatever, it is no. This is when we.

Speaker 18 (09:55):
Make those memories that last a lifetime.

Speaker 19 (09:58):
Uh occupied.

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Bruh.

Speaker 17 (10:04):
Let's talk about Thanksgiving, a complex narrative beyond the myth.
Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated in the United States as a
time for family gratitude and feasting. The mainstream narrative often
betrays a harmonious gathering in sixteen twenty one between Pilgrims
and Native Americans, a story that has become so deeply

(10:28):
embedded in American culture. However, this version of events largely
oversimplifies our races, the broader, painful history of colonization, resilience,
and survival experienced by engineing injo Indians basically indigenous people. Well,

(10:49):
I knew I was gonna get that word out eventually.
The true context of the first Thanksgiving, the sixteen to
twenty one feasts between the Wampognong I'm gonna spell it out,
Wampa Na g Wampaog and the Pilgrims, is often romanticized,

(11:10):
but it was far from this idoltic gathering. Many are taught.
The pilgrims, struggling after their first harsh winner, survived thanks
to the assistance of that tribe led by chief Massoit
m Asasoi t This aid included sharing food and agricultural knowledge. However,

(11:33):
the tribe's decision to help was a calculated political move,
made under immense pressure from rival tribes and the devastating
impact of European born diseases that had decimated their population.
Massoit's alliance with the Pilgrims was rooted in pragmatism, not altruism.

(11:54):
He sought to mitigate threats from more powerful tribes and
secure trade advantage. The sixteen twenty one feast was less
a mutual celebration and more a complex moment of uneasy coexistence,
with the Wumppog deriving uninvited, but as a show of
strength and control. So let's talk about the legacy of colonization.

(12:20):
Over the next few decades, this fragile relationship deterrorized. The
Pilgrim's arrival marked the beginning of widespread colonization, bringing disease, displacement,
and violence to native populations. Land theft and broken treaties
became the norm, and by the sixteen seventies, conflicts like

(12:43):
King Philip's War, led by Massanoit's son Metacomet Medacommet, decimated
the tribe and other tribes. These events resulted in mass deaths, enslavements,
and the near erasure erasure of the indigenous cultures in

(13:04):
the region. It so comes Thanksgiving's evolution as a holiday.
The Thanksgiving holiday is celebrated today has little to do
with the Pilgrims or that particular tribe. President Abraham Lincoln
formalized it in eighteen sixty three as a national day
of thanks aiming to unify a nation fractured by.

Speaker 7 (13:28):
The Civil War.

Speaker 17 (13:30):
By then, the Pilgrim narrative had already been co opted
as a foundational myth to betray early European settlers as
pioneers of religious freedom and peaceful coexistence, ignoring the violent
realities of colonization. This sanctified version of Thanksgiving persisted, boistered

(13:52):
by cultural symbols like Plymouth Rock and media patroyals that
framed the Pilgrims as the genesis of the United States
Democrats ideals, and so we talk about the indigenous perspectives
on Thanksgiving. From many Native Americans, Thanksgiving is a day
of mourning, reflecting on the loss of land, lives, and

(14:15):
culture resulting from colonization, and since nineteen seventy the National
Day of Mourning has been observed in Plymouth, Massachusetts, highlighting
the resilience and struggles of Indigenous people, and this often
honors ancestors and raises awareness of ongoing issues like land rights, sovereignty,

(14:35):
and the protection of sacred sights, and thus comes the
proclaiming of the holiday. Some Indigenous communities have chosen to
reinterpret Thanksgiving as a time for resilience and cultural survival.
Gatherings that emphasize traditional foods, community, and gratitude for the
land serve as acts of resistance and celebrations for Indigenous identity,

(15:01):
and these practices also highlight the importance of food sovereignty
and environmental stewardship, and thus we have to move towards
a greater understanding. Revisiting Thanksgiving's history is essential to understanding
its complexities. Educating non natives about the true events surrounding

(15:22):
the holiday foster's empathy and respect for Indigenous perspectives. Actions
such as land acknowledgments, supporting Native lead initiatives, and amplifieding
Indigenous voices can help shift the narrative. Thanksgiving can involve
into a day not only for personal gratitude, but also

(15:44):
for reflection on shared histories and collective responsibilities. By honoring
the holiday's full context, Americans can create a more inclusive
and truthful collimoration of this pivotal.

Speaker 7 (15:59):
Chapter in our history.

Speaker 17 (16:02):
And I know some people would go, oh my god,
the right wing guy is talking about Indigenous people talking
about Thanksgiving, not embellishing the greatness of Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving
is everything.

Speaker 7 (16:17):
We have grown to know.

Speaker 17 (16:20):
That is a day of thanks, thanks for everything we have,
thanks for the land that we have, thanks for the
agreements that was made, maybe under duress way back then
that helped people survive. And you gotta think the Indians
were dying a disease and they were probably looking for

(16:42):
helping cures and we were helping the It was that
mutual understanding.

Speaker 7 (16:48):
And I know some people would go, well, isn't that.

Speaker 17 (16:51):
What's going on with all this immigration that's been going on.
People are taking over our country and such, and maybe
we should just let them do it because that's what
we did.

Speaker 6 (17:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 17 (17:01):
Well, the thing about it is people move around, things change. Well,
we've learned from our past that it's kind of dangerous
when you know, new people come in and try to
settle It causes problems, they bring disease, they bring violence,
they bring crimes, and don't we owe it to the

(17:26):
indigenous people who were from here already to protect this
land even more from other set of invaders. And somebody
would say, well some of them actually were already there,
Well they moved, they moved somewhere else.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
This is America.

Speaker 17 (17:45):
We've built it up, we've made it better, we've made
it great. And yes, we should learn to be thankful
to work together with other people to share our land
as much as possible. But when people don't respect and
won't sit down at the same table as us and
don't bring us some mutual benefit, and they gotta go.

(18:13):
So what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving is that we're
going to have a president who's going to come in.
She's going to hopefully lower our prices, hopefully straighten our
country into a better America, to make America great again,
and someone that recognizes the hardshifts of what it takes

(18:35):
to be an.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
American and that art of the deal, that.

Speaker 17 (18:45):
Understanding and that compromise that happened during Thanksgiving a long
time ago. And maybe if things should have went better,
I'm not saying our history was the greatest, believe me, slavery, colonization,

(19:08):
running from Europe because of what they were doing that
was bad, basically turning America into New Europe, trying to
run from certain things to only turn around and do
it again. We ran from taxation without representation, We ran

(19:28):
from a state run ideological church in England. We ran
for religious persecution. We ran to be able to have
the ability to have the freedom of religion and the
freedom from religion. And there's some people that would like

(19:52):
to take us back. And I know a lot of
people get America confused and making America great again confused
with taking us back to some bad age.

Speaker 7 (20:02):
No, it's not about that.

Speaker 17 (20:03):
It's about the greatness of America and how people perceive America.

Speaker 7 (20:10):
And I, for one, do want.

Speaker 17 (20:13):
To see America great again. And I've always said nake
America great for everyone. So I'm not preaching against Thanksgiving.
I'm not saying don't enjoy Thanksgiving. I'm saying understanding the
past and how we got here and the sacrifices made
from everybody throughout the world, and who is already here

(20:39):
and who came here. We could have been easily wiped
off the plane of existence here in the New World
by these tribes and instead, for at least a little
time there, we got along, but there was.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
A lot of wars.

Speaker 17 (20:58):
There's a lot of conflict, and the only thing we
can do is honor the sacrifices made from all sides
and continue our history, learning from our history, not running
from our history, and understanding where we came from and

(21:20):
where we are now and where we're going into the future.

Speaker 7 (21:25):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 21 (21:32):
So you're heading home for Thanksgiving, but your family supports Trump.
Not good. You're probably wondering, how can I show them
I'm a good tolerant person and they're all terrible intolerant people,
and how can I find common ground with these rednecks
who are literally hitler. Well, you're in luck, because I

(21:56):
too am a good person who likes to share my
periority with those around me. Today, we're going to show
you how to talk about Trump with your racist uncle
this Thanksgiving. First, try slowly and articulately explaining to him
how he is a racist, a bigot, a Nazi, and

(22:19):
just an overall garbage person. You can even use simple
visual aids if you want to. Next, you can help
educate your backward, bigoted family members by handing out copies
of Robin DiAngelo's White Fragility. This thoughtful holiday gift will
endear them to you and open up the door for
more conversation later. Now, sometimes your family might disagree with

(22:43):
you and attempt to use far right tactics such as
facts and logic. Counter this with a powerful hakka dance. Fourth,
you can easily get through to these maga bigots or
maggots for short, re enacting the entirety of Hamilton. Let
it never be said that you threw away your shot.

Speaker 11 (23:07):
Ah.

Speaker 21 (23:08):
Here's a good one. When your arguments just aren't getting
through to them, try screaming at the sky. Simple but
effective tip number six. When you're encountering opinions you disagree with,
just run away to a secure location. You might call
it a space that is safe. If someone follows you there,

(23:30):
then go somewhere else, and so on and so on,
and finally, and perhaps most effectively, just start a good
food fight. It works every time. Use these simple tips
and you'll convert your magafamily in no time, because you're

(23:53):
right and they're Nazis. Good luck out there, fellow member
of the Resistance, I have any other helpful tips and
dealing with your maggot family members, just leave them in
the comments down below. Four shout him at the sky
works every time.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Love to eat turkey, love to eat fine.

Speaker 14 (24:20):
I love the season under the autumn sky.

Speaker 7 (24:25):
Turkey on the table, mash but.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
Say eat us too, green bowl.

Speaker 11 (24:31):
For family and my red wine and lou, Turkey for me,
Turkey for you.

Speaker 20 (24:38):
Let's celebrate togethers what we do.

Speaker 13 (24:44):
Pass the stuffing, don't be late.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
It's Thanksgiving days.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Let's celebrate.

Speaker 10 (24:54):
Pumpkin, spice and everything nice.

Speaker 14 (24:56):

on Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving USA.

Speaker 17 (27:38):
Welcome back to our hashtag go rite, recap and remix.
This has been a special Thanksgiving episode. It's been Thanksgiving.
Thanks are under fire. Thanksgiving a cornerstone of American tradition.
It is caught in the crossfire of rising costs and
historical reckoning. Thanksgiving, once a celebration of abundance, has become

(28:00):
a reflection of economic struggle. Under the Biden administration, inflation
continues to press hard on American families, leaving many looking
for relief and leadership that prioritizes their well being. Under
the Biden Harris administration, inflation has turned to humble feasts
into a financial challenge for many families, with prices for

(28:21):
turkey and trimming soarings. Since twenty twenty, retailers like Walmart
and Only are now offering some relief, but the broader
economic strain remains powerful. Meanwhile, the cherished myth of Thanksgiven's
origin a story of peaceful collaboration, requires deeper understanding. Beyond
the idalytic narrative lies a complex history of resilience, colonization,

(28:46):
and survival, as told by the perspective of indigenous communities.
From uncovering truths about our shared history to addressing current
economic challenges, Thanksgiving reminds us as the importance of gratitude, reflection,
and the resilience to go right. For more stories that
