(00:01):
Broadcasting from New York, New York. It's Grant's Frants Hollywood Talk. Well,
well, well, I'm back witha life update and a podcast update.
I'm filling you in on all thelatest with what I can't stand to
watch lately, and I'm giving mycritique of the Fire Island movie. Of
course, I'm sharing my thoughts onBritney Spears big wedding Day. We've got

(00:23):
a lot to discuss. Let's goGranting d No. I feel tremendous guilt

(00:46):
about it. I know I usuallyhave a co host on with me each
week. This time it's just gonnabe me. I feel like I have
to get caught up with you guys. I do I feel guilt that I
haven't done an episode. I havereally found other things that I have been
working on. I'll update you onmy life, but bottom line is I

(01:07):
stopped watching Housewives, and I stoppedwatching so much television because I had so
much to take care of that Ireally wasn't motivated to talk about much.
I didn't really have the strong opinionsthat I usually have because I've just kind
of been trying to maintain I mean, haven't we all? And you know
the show is going to be turningseven in August. And you know,
I've been very consistent except for likethe last year, and you know,

(01:32):
I do feel bad about that, but I mean the last seven years,
just think about it. Everyone saidsomething come up, so I mean,
ultimately all pretty good things. I'mstill in New York for the time being.
I am, however, moving yetagain. I got priced out of
my last apartment. I mean alot of people did. There was a
tremendous increase, and now I movedto another apartment that is, you know,

(01:56):
not great. You can probably hearall the noise outside the window.
Asn't recording this despite my best efforts. I am trying to get to the
next level in life, aren't weall. I've completely kind of redid everything
and I've taken new stock and everythingin my life. I left HBO,

(02:17):
which there's like no hard feelings atall. I put my hat in the
ring for a job at Wondery, which is an Amazon company and they produce
podcasts, and I just figured thisis a job I can do. Let
me see, let me see,and I went for it and I got
it. So that's change with thatcomes in an apartment. Change and you
know, I love the summer. So I was able to get a share

(02:39):
in Fire Island, So that's beenpretty nice to get out of here.
I realize more than ever, Ireally need to be near the water.
I need to be near some formof water. I need to simplify in
my life. I've been going totherapy. I need peace and I really
am not getting any of that inmy current scenario. You so a lot

(03:00):
is developing, What can I say? So that's what I've been doing.
I've been doing the gym, tryingto get mentally fit and physically fit and
feeling good about that. So that'swhere I've been directing my energy. And
obviously I honestly just want to behonest with everyone. I've also trying to
be really more a little more positive. I mean coming on here and screaming

(03:21):
about what a clown Andy Cohen is. You know, it's not the best
energy to be carting around. AndI still have my opinions on him.
I think he's absolutely more foolish thanever. He did some interview with Jeff
Lewis Live. He didn't even answerany questions, like he just plea knows
how to play the pr game. You know, it just drives me crazy.
But he's on a long list ofpeople that drive me crazy. As

(03:42):
you know. I'm still, however, looking at the view it actually is
up on the computer next to meand pause. I don't know why I'm
looking at this, but that showremains as awful as ever. Now I'm
going to have to do something Itold myself I would not do, and
that is to start paying for Peacock. And I, as you know,
I am a former NBC employee.I was done the dirty by them,

(04:05):
meaning I was I built out asuccessful project that one awards and was let
go because of budgets and other stupidity. So I often, like, definitely
still a little bitter about it,even though I've so moved on and I
realized how underpaid I was in thatposition for all that I was doing,
you know, hindsight twenty twenty. But nevertheless, so be for that experience

(04:29):
because it got me to where Iam today. You don't have to be
grateful for all the stumbling blocks, and that's kind of where I'm at right
now. But I didn't want topay for Peacock. I was like,
well, that's not what is worthpaying for. But I'm going to because
there's this new show, as youknow, I'm sure they're Ultimate Girls Trip
season two at Dernda's House. AndI love a mashup. I love it

(04:51):
all stars, I love a bestof, I love a mix. So
I'm definitely going to be watching this. And the more I thought about,
I said, you know what,if I'm motivated enough to watch this,
why don't I bring back the RundownThe Real House Lives Rundown. I did
this two seasons ago for Rony RealHouse as in New York City, and

(05:13):
that was that really got me throughquarantine. This now, this Ultimate Girls
Trip seven episodes two are being releasedon June twenty third. So that's a
pretty digestible project for me to takeon, I said on Instagram. And
I realized that my life is notgoing to slow down and there's never gonna
be a perfect time for me tocome back and add this into the mix.
So I'm going to just go forit, and I'm gonna have a
co host or co host, we'llsee. I'm thinking about doing a video

(05:36):
version. Now. I just fooledaround with zoom. I realized now that
to have a blurred background, youhave to pay for Zoom premium. I'm
not interested in paying for that either. What is that fifteen dollars a month
for a blurred background? Now youknow I love in terror design, my
current living situation is not conducive foryou know, a nice background. I'm

(05:58):
moving. I mean I'm gonna bemoving throughout the process of the like mid
to late summer. So while thisshow Ultimate Growth Trip is running, I
don't want to be seeing brown boxesand broken down things behind me. I
just would like to have a nice, clean background. But now you need
to set up a green screen becausenow you can't replace the background if you
don't pay for premium. I don'tknow is it worth the fifteen dollars and

(06:18):
months to have a static background that'sgreen. I don't know who knows,
but I'm looking forward to doing that. Honestly, that's my roots, you
know, going back and giving commentarylooking at reality TV, specifically housewives and
relationships. We know that these housewivesare all stars, we know what they

(06:40):
really do bring it, and theyall have a complex history. So I'm
looking forward to it. I thinkit's the right fit for me, and
I really hope that you'll join meand listen to it. I'm gonna try
to get it up on YouTube aswell. I notice these video pods are
really really hot right now, Soyou know what, I figured, why
not dust it all, let's doit. So I'm looking forward to it

(07:02):
genuinely. So what else I'm notlooking at? Real Housewives of Dubai?
No, I don't know. Isn'tit interesting they premiere the show during Pride
month in a location and you knowwhat I'm gonna say, a lot of
people know this by now, alocation where it's basically illegal to be gay,
and you know this, Bravo hasa fairly gay friendly audience. I
think anyone would admit to that. And I just don't see the ratings being

(07:27):
that stellar. Of course, maybeit'll grow, but I was really looking
at this closely to see is therean appetite for another housewives city? Is
there an appetite for an international city? Now? I love the Cheshire Housewives,
I enjoyed the Melbourne Housewives. Ieven looked at the Auckland Housewives.
But you know, I'm really housewivedout. I have no interest in these

(07:48):
rumored housewives. They want to doWinecta and one other two other ones they
wanted to do over on Peacock,I'm I'm all set, I'm all set.
I don't need to see any moreof them. I think I'll just
cycle through the ones that I'm interestedin here and there, and that's about
it. But Dubai, I reallycouldn't care less. To me, it's
basically like the forum shops at LasVegas at Caesus Palace. Like that's how

(08:11):
I viewed Dubai, So I reallycouldn't care less. I've been listening to
Kelly Dodds podcast. I know,I know she's problematic, but I've been
listening to her and Rick, andThat's how I've been getting my info on
Beverly Hills. We're pretty aligned onErica. Wasn't she awful? Still over
there doing the same games, samestuff. I mean, if she is

(08:35):
not a narcissist, show me someoneelse who is, because I'm just looking
at this this like she's crazy, but I don't really care to watch it
that those little recaps are enough forme. New Jersey I'm alright with missing
that too. I didn't look atit. You know. I'm tired of
people like Andy Cohen and folks talkingabout how wild these reunions are and you're

(08:58):
going you watch them and it's likeverbal assault. You know, it's very,
very aggressive. This is my problemwith the car and Houselives right now.
It's too aggressive. It's I've saidthis in the past and I'll say
it again. I enjoy the absurdityof houselives, so sure put them in
bluestone manner. You know, there'sthat clip out there of Taylor Taylor Armstrong

(09:20):
fighting. Now Taylor, I don'teven know why she was invited, but
I mean, I don't care reallyabout the fights. I want to see
the absurdity fall apart. I wantto see these women like just you know,
bang into each other and all theseegos in one house. And that's
what I'm here for. I'm herefor the nonsense of these shows, and
they've just gotten too serious. AndI get it. True crime, especially

(09:43):
with the female audience, is massiveright now. So all this stuff with
jen Shaw, all this stuff withErica, it's a big fin deal and
it provides for a lot of clicks, a lot of Twitter interactions. I
totally get it, and that's fine, but also, like, are we
celebrating criminals? I don't know, are we celebrating women being pitted against each

(10:07):
other, one could argue yes.So I'm just saying, you know,
I enjoy them for what they are, but from a little bit of a
far these days, and I'm okaywith that. I'm growing, and I
you know, I never wanted tofall out of love with it, because
this is like bread and butter forthe for this podcast, but taste change,
you know what I mean. Andyou know, I like to look

(10:28):
at it from a far, andI knew I wasn't gonna be watching them
forever, so I just don't needany more. I don't need any more
in new cities. I'm not interested. Let's take a little bit of a
turn here at this ten minute andchange mark and talk about Hulu's Fire Island
Fire Island film. I saw themovie two times, one actually in Fire

(10:50):
Island at my sharehouse with the housemates, and you know, I was so
tired. I wasn't drunk. Iwas just was tired, and so I
was kind of nodding off. Becauseof that. I had to go back
and watch it a second time, and I actually did enjoy it more the
second time. I didn't enjoy theconcept of this movie. At first.
They were filming this at the endof the season last year, and I

(11:11):
was really annoyed because they were closingthings down around Fire Island to film the
movie. And I was there's only, like, you know, a handful
of things to do on the islands. It is a beach, after all,
And I was like, you know, don't cut into my season.
It's expensive to come here. Soselfishly, I wasn't too interested. The
cast didn't really interest me. Ican't say I'm like a massive fan of

(11:33):
anyone on there, but I willgive them their credit where it's due.
I'll give you a little bit ofa review. If this was a news
article or a review in print, the title of my review would be review
colon Fire Island, Bow and Yangpouts and a tank top for an hour

(11:54):
and forty five minutes. I mean, that's really my takeaway from this film.
It was a lot of that.I don't know what else to say.
You know, it was trying tobe a rom com and it was
in many different ways. I gottagive credit to Joel Kim Booster who created
and wrote it and you know, basically started it was in almost every scene.

(12:18):
Just to get a film made isso hard. It's so hard to
get the funding for these types ofthings, to get a studio to believe
in you, to actually not onlymake it, but to make it during
a pandemic. It's a lot.I mean, these studios, they all
took hits during COVID, and youknow, this was still something that was
made. However, it's disappointing tome that these films are still not released

(12:39):
in theaters when it was when it'sreleased on Hulu. And I'm not saying
this in a shady way, butwhen it's released on Hulu, is that
like the equivalent to like a directto DVD release because it's not in the
theaters. So it's really kind ofa shame because I do believe there's an
audience for this, especially like youknow a lot of straight women are really
into gay content, and you knowit's a mix of people who when you

(13:03):
go to a drag show now,I mean, there's just such a mix
in the audience. So I thinkthat this one that should have been released
in a theater. I think itwould have been a really groundbreaking moment for
LGBT films really if they did that. But just it's just a great thing
that it got made. The goodthings are. It was well shot.
I really enjoyed, like that closingshot with the sunset. I thought it

(13:28):
was you know, well put together. It didn't look cheap. I thought
it was gonna look cheap. Ireally did. At first. I was
like, what is this like?Because we're used to, as you know,
a queer audience getting a very lowend, low budget series, reality
show, digital series, and soI was like, I don't know,

(13:48):
they're really gonna like I only putmoney behind this, but they did,
and it looked pretty well done tome. However, from a story perspective,
I think it lacked smaller plots.I think there could have been like
a through line throughout there. Theyhad an ensemble cast, so they really
didn't use again, it was alot of bow and yang pouting, and
I really didn't need all that itwas. I will say, as someone

(14:13):
who goes to Fire Island, Iwouldn't say often, but I enjoy it
enough. I will say, it'snot all sex. I enjoy it.
I mean that's not why I'm going. I'm going there to relax ninety percent
of the time. Like, ofcourse I'm there gonna have a good time,
but like I'm there mainly to relax, and this was obviously they were
leaning into the rom com aspect ofit. But one thing they did get
right is that time does pass differentlythere, and there is a magic ability,

(14:37):
there is a magic quality to it, and I think that's really worth
pointing out, like time is justsuch a construct there and I'm trying to
work from there, and it isjust those two things do not mesh.
I mean, it's like trying totake a zoom meeting in Disneyland. I
mean, it's difficult. It's reallya unique place. But I really hope
the film doesn't make a lot ofpeople flocked Fire Island. I really hope

(15:01):
not, because it's such a quiet, private place and I think the way
that it's laid out where there's noholiday in there. There's no hotel chains,
there's none of that. So youreally have to kind of know someone
or pay up the ass to getan apartment or a house, or not
even an apartment, like a room. I mean, it is expensive,

(15:22):
so maybe day trippers, but Ijust hope it's not ruined by this and
commercialized. And I think that's afear that a lot of people have who
go there in the house that Iwas staying in fairly mixed reviews of the
main review was that it was long, and it was an hour and forty
five is I can't do it.I went to go see a Broadway show
company actually, and that was Ithink two hours and forty five minutes.

(15:45):
My body cannot do that. Iam not conditioned for that. I watch
things in increments. I watch alot of clips. I listened to a
podcast sometimes in two and three parts. So for me, it's just I
am not good with sitting for along period of time. I don't have
add not that I know of,but I'm just not conditioned to sit anywhere
that long and watch something. ButI would recommend looking at this movie.

(16:07):
And if you're interested in going toFire Islands, let me know, because
I'm always looking for an excuse togo. But not too many people,
because we don't need to crowd it, you know, it's just let it
live. So that's that. Let'sconclude with Britney's wedding. And I can't
help but think of the testimony thatshe gave not even a year ago,

(16:30):
where she said, I want thereal deal. I want to be able
to get married and have a baby. And here She is getting married at
the property of her own home ina you know, late pink tent.
This is everything I think most Britneyfans would have expected from her, a
fairytale vibe. There was a horsedrawn carriage, beautiful shots of her house.

(16:55):
I just like that. It wasa sixty person wedding. That's what
they say, That's what they claim. I thought it was one hundred,
but now they're saying sixty, andI just like that it was. It
just seemed very brittany. This womanhas earned it, apparently, they said
she walked herself down the aisle.Good for her, an independent woman making
her way to the front to marryher man. She certainly doesn't need that

(17:21):
loser asshole father or hers. Shecertainly doesn't need her mother and enabler.
She certainly doesn't need Jamie Lynne sittingin the front row on Instagram Live.
And she certainly doesn't need any ofher business team sitting there either. Former
business team, I should say,so good for her. You know,
her brother Brian was supposed to goand then he was a no show.

(17:41):
I wonder what happened there because therewas a picture of him getting ready to
go out or something. Who knowswhere. This could have been an old
picture. He could have been goingto you know, I don't know,
going to Walgreens, who knows. But I find it odd that she would
invite him because to my knowledge,Brian was complicit in a lot of these
things and made money. I believethat he worked with the management company allegedly,

(18:06):
so I don't know what the dealis with that. But of course
Brittany can never have a break.I couldn't believe this when I saw this,
her first husband, Jason Alexander crashingthe wedding, obviously not during,
but before this guy on Instagram Live. I mean, talk about the trash
that this woman has in her life. I mean, I don't blame her

(18:26):
for not inviting any of them.I mean the trash people. This guy
coming over the mountaintops on Instagram Live, and you know, the security is
trying to get him, but they'renot. They can't lay hands on him.
He's running down into the garage intoopening up doors, screaming and yelling,

(18:48):
calling for Brittany, saying that she'smy first wife, she's my only
wife. This guy sounded like awacko, and he went into the wedding
tent. I keep in mind thiswas all done to be extremely private.
I even looked at Britney's wedding invitationit got posted and it was saying like,
due to the privacy of the couple, we asked that this is an
unplugged event and we will check phones. I mean, Brittany did not want

(19:11):
any of this. I felt like, what an invasion not only of your
own home, but of your weddingvenue during the day of your wedding.
So he did get arrested, butmainly because there was an out of state
or out of county warrant for thisguy. But what a wacko. And
of course Rosengart, Britney's lawyer,is already on it. But I just

(19:32):
can't imagine something like so terrifying, and I really hope it didn't ruin her
day. I mean, this woman'spast, the people in it. I
don't know what she ever did becauseshe is just gets constant with this one.
I mean, I feel terrible forher. She can never catch your
break. But the photos looked lovely. I'm so happy for her. I'm
happy that she had her moment.I'm so happy the family was not invited

(19:55):
again, she had Madonna, DrewBarrymore, Paris Gomez done a tele versacchi
and even again rozencart at the wedding. So I just loved those like pictures
and videos, and Brittany has anenergy about her that reminds me of like
when she used to laugh in theearly two thousands. She's there with her
bare feet dancing and at it lookslike a long T shirt the horse drawn

(20:19):
carriage photos like you earned it.You earned it, you made the money,
and now you get to spend ithow you want to, and you
can now you get to live howyou want to. So I hope that
this is a good wedding, goodmarriage for her. I hope that this
is a good future for her, that all these types of people are removed,

(20:40):
and that all these investigations pay offand we can finally hold the people
accountable that held her captor for allthose years. And it's a big deal.
So I'm happy for her. Idon't have too much else to say
on it, except like I feelterrible about her miscarriage situation. You know,

(21:00):
if I were her out, Imean, I know she's all about
being a mom. I'm sure herpreference is to carry the baby to term.
And I think I talked about thison this podcast, but I think
maybe just given her age and whather father did to her allegedly with the
IUD and everything, maybe she shouldlook into seregacy so that way she can
really carry out that dream of hers. I really do wish them like the

(21:25):
best, Like who wouldn't like Peopledon't even realize all that she's been through
and I don't even know it alleither, And we'll find out when she
writes that book, which apparently she'sstill doing. But I hope they gave
her a couple of weeks off soshe could enjoy the wedding time. Well
that's it. The next time you'llhear from me, I will be hopefully
knock on wood posting the first episodeof Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip and breaking

(21:51):
that down and I'm hoping, honestlyall cars on the table that will reinvigorate
me to get back into this worldof pop culture. Common Erry, because
you know I have an opinion andI love to share it. I love
you guys for listening and continue tosupport me. I really do, really,
really do appreciate that. I'll beback. I'll talk to you so
