(00:02):
From the podcast Grant's Rants Hollywood Talk. It's Grant's Rant Small Talk. Let
the rundown begin. Thank you forjoining me on this rundown of the Real
Housewives, Ultimate Girls Trip ex WivesClub as long, long title. A

(00:22):
lot of people in this episode,a lot to get into, so I
had to bring in a co host, Housewives afficionado Housewives lover Ali Cohen podcast
produced, so we work together. It's good to see you again. It's
so good to see you. Andthis is exactly what I wanted to talk
about with you. So I'm happythat this is the forum. I haven't

(00:43):
talked about housewives in a long time. I've been just so sick of them.
But this, this is my kindof thing. I am Actually,
this is what I used to do. I used to recap housewives and I
just enjoy pulling it apart, youknow, So this I'm actually really excited
to do this. Oh yeah, and this is so this is so much
history. You're gonna really feel soat home here. I felt at home.

(01:07):
I felt back. It was sosummer by Bravo. Remember that,
Like That's how it felt. Itharkened back to a beautiful time in my
life. We lived through these momentswith these women. So now we're seeing
it like ten years later for someof these folks like, yeah, it's
it's um, it's really well cast. I will say I'm very happy with

(01:29):
the cast I do. At first, I was like, thank God Kyle
isn't on this trip. That Idon't need to watch Kyle go on another
vacation. Oh, so glad wehave a break from her. I am
so tired of that woman having towatch her eating shop and vacation, at
least as a break the calf Tans. We've we've gotten it. We've had
enough of the calf Tans. However, what I will say, and we'll

(01:51):
get into this, I'm sure Iwas uninspired by the looks I was getting.
I didn't. I was not havingfun watching their clothing. I think
Dorinda was the only and that wasreally well. I don't depends what episode.
At the time of recording this podcastwe're talking about. We watched one
and two, but this about episodeone. Yes, return to Bluestone manner.
Yeah, that the fashions, Idon't know. I had. Nothing

(02:12):
really jumped out to me in anepisode one that I can think of.
Nothing jumped out in a good way. I think Dorinda was wearing I'm sorry,
I don't I just got in hoton here, but yes, I
Dorinda was wearing that striped pink pirateoutfit that during the dinner, and I
just was not for me while she'scracking those yeah, a lobster, there

(02:38):
was a lot. There was alot of fabric drape so mutch because I
remembered like thinking, there's no waythat she didn't get butter on that dress
so much butter so much lobster juicedidn't care for it. Yes, let's
just get into some highlights through thisepisode. The arrivals, any thoughts on
Tamra and Vicky and Taylor are arrivingtogether, Brandy, you know they've got

(03:00):
they've got to have this confrontation setup, so they stick her in her
own car and um, not abig you know, there's a lot of
big setup for you know what.I don't know if it was a big
big deal when she walked in.You know, they try with the music
and all that, but they reallydid. But it's like Tamar and Vicky
so badly want to be housewives again. They just they miss it so much.

(03:22):
They have no problem saying it.They were like, this is our
life, and then suddenly we werefired and that they don't have much else
to give us. No, theydon't. They didn't see it happen in
the between time. True. Yeah, I mean we went from Vicky was
engaged. You know, Vicky's done. That's um I the Curmudgeonity loves Vicky.

(03:45):
Uh. Already they're not even inthe gates of the house and she's
already bitching and complaining, hates it, hates it. She wishes her life
needs to be at a mini mallat all times or else she's unhappy big
box store. Seeah, she needsaccess to again the home goods, the
target. If there is some sortof a bar with a with a ti

(04:08):
a tiki bar theme, she wantsto be there, That's what she wants.
Now. Dorinda is on. Sheis full lit on. I'm not
even talking about drunk at this point. Now arriving and she just she's back
in front of the camera. She'sback in her element, Lady of the
manner, which she's going to referto herself as this entire time. And
I have to get used to itand not make it make me kind of

(04:30):
cringe because it's actually she's endearing insome ways, and I think she she
knows her place and it is thelady of the Manor. Yes, I
like Dorinda in I like sober Drenda. I don't I said this previously.
I don't care for really drunk Direnda. I like her for TV, but
I wouldn't want to be friends withdrunk Dorinda. True, you don't know
what you're gonna get, No,it seems terrifying. Yeah, but she

(04:51):
gives everyone of these baskets and allthese things, and I just what I
They had cupcakes with faces on them, but they all got her book and
that's her book, so tacky.I don't need that. I'd be like,
what are you stuck me to dowith this? Rid ever carried this
back on the plane to wherever Icame from. Oh, not for me,
But I did love the pajamas andEva was wearing the pajamas the whole

(05:15):
time. Eva was a delight.Yeah, she start to finish. She
seems like she's there for the ride. She knows like this is just just
go with the flow. And you'vegot people like Vicky who are like fighting
the flow. As she does notwant to be part of the flow.
But what I found funny Eva lovesVicky. Zicky has no idea who Eva
is, but Eva is clearly afan. So sad I know Vicky again,

(05:40):
I'm a Vicky fan, and Iknow she is problematic issue, but
you know she's there. I findYou're still so interesting and fascinating. Not
for the right reasons, but Ijust I'm so glad that she's on this.
I love the dynamic with her andTammera. I just there's so much
that I get from Vicky, andI get my people, I get why

(06:00):
she pisses people off. And we'llget into the oh God, she's not
having sex. She's not having sex. What happened with Steve Lodge? What
happened? Do I care? Idon't know who cares? Dorinda? Yeah,
what happened? She was is therea vagina? She's asking, you
know, why do you care somuch? You're not the one who got
broken up with? Yeah, Vicky, She's just always her life. She's

(06:26):
one of those people we all knowthem that needs to have a man in
their life. They cannot function withoutone. And the thing is, like,
Vicky, can I think she canwith that one? But she feels
as though she needs heaven, shedoesn't want to die alone. Oh,
all the stuff which I get whenyou reach a certain age. I guess
too, You're like you realize, like you know, that could be,

(06:46):
that could be a reality, andyou could but you can make that your
stopping point or you could make itcould just be part of your life,
you know. And she really you'reright because she had Don and Don wasn't
feeling her love tank. We knowthat much. But can anyone feel her
love tank? Can anyone? Ialways even think with Durrinda, Durrinda's think

(07:09):
about getting married or something. Cananyone connect with these women now that their
celebrities? Can you trust any ofthe men? Is what I'm asking really,
because if you get a narcissistant there, like you know, I feel
like with Teresa of New Jersey, like that guy just like studied her and
just you know, like it's likea same thing. It's like a fame,
Like this is my way into thisworld. I don't know how you

(07:32):
find a good guy when you're aTV star. It's hard to find a
good guy any which way, butwhen they can look you up, that's
not easy. I can't Imagine haslike six best up drunk drenda clips on
YouTube and they basically they basically displayedit on the first episode. Yeah,

(07:55):
yeah, pretty much. And Durrindais still going with this I'm on pause.
You guys are all x how I'mstill the only one I pause.
I can't stand this story. Idon't care for Andy Cowen. I'm so
tired of like him flexing when weall know these decisions are made by like
a whole network worth of people, but he always gets the credit for these
things, and it's just a yeah, so quite fair. But who said

(08:18):
menopause when she said I'm on pause? It wasn't menopause that really got me.
It was probably Phaedra. Phaedre hada million one line killed me.
I just yeah, I was gonnastay at the top, like who.
I was excited to see it allthat, but I wanted to get into
it. But Phaedre, I amthrilled just that she is there. I
don't like how she went out onAtlanta. That was not problematic to say

(08:39):
the least. But the one lineshe knows what she's doing on this show
when she wants to have a goodtime, she knows how to do it
right. So many times I waslike phaed, like I screamed when she
would say these hilarious things. Ohwhen she was saying about, oh,
I've heard about Brandy, But Ido like attractive people. I like to
wait up to something nice. Shecan. Who can't relate to that?

(09:03):
I can? I can, Butand she's great. She's like, look
is she insane? Maybe? ButI don't know her, and she's pretty
good enough. So now, speakingof Brandy, Randy and Tamera, it
already starts to kick off. Theygo back and forth throughout their Twitter feud.
I saw the video a couple ofyears ago of Brandy on her bed.

(09:24):
I don't know what that was allabout, drinking and tweeting. Like
they said, it was a podcast. That's not her podcast. Their podcast
is unfiltered, but like, Idon't know there, I don't. I
didn't know what that was when theyshowed a clip of it. Yeah,
it was just like a video seriesshe did. I guess there wasn't enough
money in it so she didn't continuewith it. But um yeah, I
mean it really did get ugly, like Brandy brought Tama's kids into it,

(09:46):
but technically didn't Tamra call her unstable. Yes, yes, yeah, we
still come up oh yeah no.And the thing is that these women,
they're starting to realize as we're breakdown the fourth walls that they're being recorded
and they're all of their social mediais we're all seeing it, and that

(10:09):
they'll to everyone's face, they knowthat didn't happen. Yeah, yeah,
it rolled back the tape and nowwe're starting to see it. That's true.
I know they love to pull upthe articles, you know, the
quotes and all that to prove thatthe house stuff doesn't know what she's talking
about. A classic troope. Andyeah, Tama fell into that one.
Tamara had enough time to do homeworkfor this. She knew that she would

(10:33):
be faced with Brandy. That's whenyou you know, I'm not saying she
needs to bring computer print outs withher, but at least familiarize yourself with
the material. And she didn't.No, I'm surprised by that. Tama
is an all star house if I'vesaid this for a long time, I
really like her. She's a trueAlso, she knows how to play the
game. She knows how to bea house wife, and that is underlined

(10:54):
and in quotes for the role thatthey are cast to play. And it's
funny that they even mentioned this.Even Brandy is like, I don't want
to be all houselives right now,Like it's like a verb, you know.
Yeah, And what about the wholescorpio thing that was brought up pretty
immediately? Now, what's no grant? What is your sign? I am

(11:15):
a Gemini, a true blue Gemini, all faults and goodness included. Okay,
okay, I mean I don't knowthat it just ring up. I
don't know. I don't know muchabout Yeah, I don't know much about
scorpios. I I for I didhear that perhaps they're very good in bed.
That was something I heard about scorpios. So I don't know what is
your sign? I'm a virgo, just like Timer. I think Timer said

(11:39):
she was too. I do verywell with virgos. I get along very
well. For those who are watchingthis video, I have a stressfall shaped
in the shape of a strawberry. It's beautiful. Jill would approved, we'll
get into that never. I can't. I can't wait. Yes, So
what else happened here Taylor and Brandy. Taylor says she felt a lot of
pressure her while shooting her season, understandably so, she felt like the weakest

(12:03):
link on the show. Understandably so. Unfortunately, but basically they're trying to
paint the scene, or at leastBrandy is, by saying, well,
we were both in a bad placein season two. We're both really going
through it, and like one ofthese things is not like the other,
right, I mean, we're talkingabout God. Now Taylor the midst of

(12:24):
this horrible, abusive marriage that's suicideof her husband, and Brandy got a
divorce. As soon as Taylor cameonto my screen, I felt the tragedy.
I just her story was so heartbreaking. And oh and to see Kennedy,
who's such a big girl now she'sfifteen years old, I feel like

(12:46):
a billion years old. It justshe went through so much and I understand.
I mean, look, I've nevergone through a horrible divorce or any
divorce. I'm sure it's heartbreaking, but to say like, I went through
it too. And then when shesaid she said something like, oh,
well your husband died and that affectedme, ma'am. Yeah, that just

(13:09):
doesn't translate. That doesn't You're notgoing to gain any sympathy from the widow.
My concern is that this poor womanis going to be retraumatized by having
to like basically relive this entire thing. Well, yeah, I mean in
a way, she left that conversationsaying that she actually was more pissed than
for when she started. And Ican understand that. I would. I
mean, I will say though, she got along to get along with that,

(13:33):
because she could have easily dug indeeper and said, you're making my
story your narrative, Like she couldhave really, like you said, been
super pissed. But she did justcome away from the table. You know,
I give her credit, yeah forthat. Brandy is a button pusher.
But it's not even like I don'tknow, maybe some people just agree
with me. I don't even thinkit's intentional. I think it's just she's

(13:54):
just a fool. She's a fool. That's a great word for her,
because I kept thinking, I likeBrandy. I do sometimes sometimes I'm like,
you're funny, and I feel likeif I sat in a room with
you, how to drink with you? We would get along really well.
But then she says something like that, and I'm like, oh, you're
a fool. You're a fool.Yeah, yeah, she was very foolish

(14:16):
in this episode. So let's cutto this dinner. I'm curious to get
your thoughts on this. I mean, there were you know where this is
the rundown. We're going through thingsquickly, so where you know, we
went some time on the clock,so it was anything that's jumped out to
you, let me know. Iwill before we get into the dinner.
But this dinner, Brandy wants tostart or no, it's not Brandy this

(14:39):
time, it's Duranda wants to startwith a question game? And I always
said, what could go wrong withthis? And you know, they either
go on for a while or theygo really quick. This one I think
was what like what is your insecurity? Right? And I don't think they
answered another question after this one, because that's all anybody needed. All these
icebreakers are like just setting people upto say the worst things yes, or

(15:03):
to yeah, tell the person nextto you what you really think of them?
Well, what would go wrong withthat? But like the fact that
the first question on the first nightis what is their insecurity? When all
these women who know how to playthe game, they've they've made careers out
of exploiting their co stars insecurities. So it's making everybody like put all their

(15:26):
cards on the table. That thenfor the rest of the week, the
women can pick on right, arethey alone their marriage? Are they a
success? Are they enough? Likeall the stuff they can throw back in
each other's face is like, that'sthat's a loaded question. I would not
appreciate it. Who do you thinkwrote it? The producers? Right,
probably yea, yeah, yeah ithad to. I mean I think they

(15:48):
usually do these things right absolutely, because they were actually, yeah, this
was the episodehere. They were allpreprinted, right, Okay, so yeah,
some poor pa had to go andget a wireless printer and one of
the trailer or is out back andprint out these little pieces of paper.
And Dorinda's answer was, wasn't itto not? She was afraid she wouldn't
be relevant And that opened up thewhole Housewives of it all, and it's

(16:12):
like, oh, so you're afraidto not be a housewife anymore, and
on it she was like, no, no, no, that's not what
I mean. I think it mighthave been what she meant. I think
inside she might feel that way.It definitely, I don't know cross that
way. I mean, it caninitially I felt initially. Initially, I
was like, oh, Drinna, let just just say you want to be

(16:33):
back on TV. You're on itnow, Relax. But no, I
get like she wants to be rememberedfor something. I mean, I think,
but that's normal, absolutely, yeah. Yeah. I mean for someone
though, who's so worried about beingremembered for something, she certainly doesn't mind
getting plastered on TV. And that'swhat's gonna live forever. And it happened

(16:53):
real quick. This is all everythinghappened before ten PM, Like this entire
episode first day before ten there wasa lot a lot going on hacked.
Yes, I mean I didn't thinkthey were going to get into all these
like Taylor needs to sit down withBrandy across the table and talk about things.
Like I thought we have some likewe've got some time, We've got

(17:15):
like what are they are there fora week? So I thought we would
have like, you know, somebreathing room to kind of get to these
things. But Nope, not inthis episode. Nope. No, they
have eight days because I saw atthe beginning they have eight days, and
they are going to do their damnedestin these eight days. They're going to
fill every single crack. They're notgoing to leave one thing. Yeah.
Oh, these they're working hard. They're working hard for their money. I'm

(17:38):
telling you that so true. Brandybrings up season two and how bad it
was for her again at this dinner. She as, I can't believe she
brought it up again, and shefeels that Taylor exploited the situation with writing
the book. Remember that the Today'sShow interview Taylor went on and it was

(18:03):
a hot minute. I remember itbecause I was like, what is this?
Why is this book out so quickly? But I'm glad that Taylor,
finally on a big platform and notjust Twitter, had the opportunity to explain
she needed cash advanced to take careof her daughter. She had no money.
We all know, like he diedlike in debt, so like,
what was she going to do?What a nightmare? I was so proud
of her for her response. Firstof all, it was measured. She

(18:26):
really, I don't know what Iwould have done. I might have gone
insane. I might have gone absolutelycrazy on Brandy and said, how dare
you know? I would have goneI would have freaked out. But she
was so measured. Here's why.And the show was protecting her and I
totally believe it. That is soscary. And when she was confronted about

(18:48):
the abuse, she was shocked. You could tell it was so upsetting.
Every bit of her storyline just washeartbreaking, very true. Yeah, I
am. I'm glad that she hadthe moment. Like I will say,
I was kind of scratching my headand I was like, why is she
considered an All Star? Like youknow, but she's gone through so much

(19:11):
that it's like good to catch upwith her. And so many people were
invested in her story, So Ithink that she's I'm enjoying her on the
show. She's definitely earned her playson the show. We're like, I
view Tamar as a definite All Star. Yes, there are others where I'm
even like Eva. I was likewhy but Eva was confusing the show.
I'm enjoying her on this. She'sa good balance to the like vickis you

(19:33):
know what I mean, She's agood balance to the Brandy's Yes, yes,
yes, we need something we need. You know, there's a red
pill in a blue pill. Weneed one to bring us down right like
we I know that's not the analogy, but we're we're too up. We
need to be brought down. AndEva is that energy and she wants to
smoke some weed like she wants toshe wants to relax and it is vacation.

(19:56):
Well, here we go at thispoint in the episode where Brandy is
calling Taylor a bitch and she tellsVicky to shut the f up and the
music is coming in the first fightis kicked off. It's the end of
the episode. And yeah, Imean, what did what did you make
of this moment where the heat wassuddenly turned up? And of course it's

(20:17):
coming from Brandy. We all expectit from Brandy. Everyone came into this
situation talking about Brandy. They allsaid, she's I don't know her,
but she's crazy or I do knowher and I have a problem with her.
It's to be expected. And she, like you said, is a
fool. And we'll say these thingsthat are not gonna look good for her

(20:41):
and they're going to make people upset. Yeah, I mean, they raised
a good question. They were like, what does Brandy not making any money
during season two have to do withRussell's death? It does nothing. It's
just she's I mean, it's gotto be the alcohol. I know,
I listened to. In the podcast, she said that she doesn't know if

(21:02):
she's going to be canceled because sheblacked out multiple times on this trip and
she doesn't remember anything, so anything. Is this one of those moments?
I mean, you know it alsohad to be a nightmare for the story
producers to be like, um,let's talk about the dinner and she's like,
I don't always blacked out like that. That's an easy out too,
thought everybody else said, yeah, but you're letting everybody else say what happened

(21:23):
on your behalf to you're not ableto speak for yourself. But she knows
she sounded insane, right, Likeshe knows that she if she thinks she's
going to be canceled in her blackoutstate, she knows what she's like in
her not a blackout state. She'sa mass and she needs to contract.
I think, yeah, you know, Brandy is one of those that has

(21:45):
made a full not one this quitea few, but she has made a
full on career of being on realityTV. So she knows what to bring
and how to bring it. Butalso like, do you think this is
like she's doing this and she's like, sure, I'm gonna have like six
drinks and just we're gonna we're gonnashot the show and we're gonna sis the
job. Or do you think she'sjust there just this is the real her
former? I think the former.I think. I don't think she's not

(22:08):
like this. But I do thinkshe went in saying I'm gonna drink so
much because this is the gig andthis is what people know of me and
like of me, and that's whathappened. Do I think she blacked out?
Perhaps? Do I think she doesn'tremember anything? I don't. I
don't think so. I think sheknows some of the things she said.

(22:29):
And I do think she also probablyhas brought up this Russell thing before,
Like this is not a new thoughtand it's not a blacked out thought.
M Yeah. I just don't knowwhy she's so affected by it. She
claims she loved the family. I'mlike, right, they were not that
close at least from what I don'ttell. I don't. I don't remember,

(22:52):
you know, Taylor even even onthis episode, being like we hung
out a lot, like they hadit seen each other. Yeah, since
so we all know these with themajority of these women aren't hanging out when
the cameras aren't there. No,I think that was the dynamic I thought,
especially those two. Yeah, whywould she. Taylor had a lot
going on, more stuff to dothan hang out with, you know,
Brandy on the crutches at that time, well the crutches. Oh, but

(23:15):
watching the Richard sisters yelling at Brandy, I mean it did bring me back.
But Taylor was so good to Brandy. She's the one she said enough,
She got in the middle and said, no one's gonna be screaming at
each other in this house where noone's gonna be touching something, yea,
And she was right. She's like, I was so good to Brandy and

(23:37):
now she's doing this to me.I don't understand why. I don't understand
why either. I don't understand.Well, on that note, let's get
into our final thoughts. Okay,I'll let you go first. I was
delighted. I just was overwhelmed. My senses were heightened. I felt brand

(24:00):
new. This is summer. Itreally kicked off my summer in just the
right way. I give this episodean a minus because I do think that
there were some things that just hitme in the wrong way. But I
I love it. I had anxietythe whole time. Really yeah, oh
yeah. As soon as I sawBrandy, I felt anxious. I was

(24:22):
like, oh, no, whatare we gonna do? You know what,
I don't know what's coming out.I don't know what's coming with her.
I didn't think about Jill until theybrought her up, and then I
went I gasped. I was like, right, Jill's coming. Oh yeah.
It's always an interesting dynamic when likeyou're like they kind of like spent

(24:47):
the first night. You know we'regonna get into this. I'll say this
for episode two. Absolutely, yeah. I have a lot to say about
this me too. My final thoughtis I like seeing bluestone manner. I
wish I could get a better viewfor how big that house. Need to
notice, I don't know why theydo this, but I don't see it
in like I know they've got whitechests, but I don't see it like
from above, Like I can't tellhow big it is. It's a lot
of tracking shots like angles, likeI know the house goes in different wings,

(25:14):
so I'm trying to get a vibeor how big it is now for
all those wings, why couldn't everyonehave a full bed? True and Brandy
slipping to pull out with the fishroom. The fish room looked great,
Yeah, nice, renovated, updated, Yeah more fish, needs more fish,
though it's not a fish room unlessthere's more fish. Yes, I

(25:36):
need more, at least at leasta few more of like this big tuna
on the wall or something exactly. But I noticed that in her backyard she
had beautiful urns with flowers, andthen they had these big, like I
don't know what they were, likebarrels with like stones in them, which
I guess would be like, youknow, fire pits for later. But
it really took me out of itbecause she had all these beautiful urns with

(25:59):
flowers, and then there's like allthis thing full of like the rocks,
you know, looking at the landscaping. Yeah, well I'll look at the
whole thing. Yeah, I wantto I want to get up well because
I want to see I want tosee blues, don't matter. I'd like
to go there. It's supposed tobe such a beautiful place. It's supposed
to be kind of a character inthe story. So like, yes,
I'm definitely studying the space, butis there anywhere to whoop it up?
I don't know. I don't think, so we'll have to find out.

(26:22):
I don't. I would not wantto be stuck in that house for eight
days. I would not want tohave like just really, you know,

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
