Hey, they're rock stars. Thisis Eric Baguero and today we're talking to
Kerry Donnelly for Marquee Health Consulting Services. We're gonna have a wonderful conversation about
what Marquis does for our community andhow it can be of great benefit to
all of us. Hey, Kerrie, welcome to the show. Thank you,
Eric, Thank you so much forhaving me today and for providing this

(00:29):
amazing service to our chamber members.Tell me a little bit about yourself,
Tell me about Marquis and what doesyou guys do. I am the business
development manager for Marquee Health Consulting Services. Marquee Health Consulting Services provides administrative and
consulting services to skilled nursing facilities throughoutthe United States, offering operational guidance and

(00:50):
programs to further their success and growth. In my role, I work closely
with physicians, hospital leaders, andhealthcare partners. I helped to transition locations
from the community or local hospitals toanyone of our area network centers for recovery
and short stay skilled nursing and rehabilitationor long term care. I also served

(01:10):
the area of Montgomery County, Marylandas a brand ambassador in Community Relations,
offering resources, education and support toour community healthcare partners and local hospitals.
So very needed service here in MontgomeryCounty because, as you know, we
have an aging community. So that'sa wonderful thing to do here. So
you mentioned something in your introduction therethat really caught my attention. Skilled nursing

(01:34):
and rebulutation. Tell me what thatmeans? Thank you? Yes. So,
skill nursing and rehabilitation is often referredto as a skill nursing facility care
or subacute care and or post acutecare simultaneously, and often subecute rehab as
well. So it's typically in patientcare for someone looking to recover from a

(01:57):
surgery or illness. It is usuallyreceived in a skilled nursing facility or center
and is meant to help a personrecover and return to their baseline functioning and
then return home. Gotcha, gotcha? So can you give me some examples
of what skilled services are offered?Absolutely, skilled services are physical, occupational,

(02:19):
speech, and respiratory therapy. There'salso a wide range of clinical services
and medical staff that are offered. We provide cardiac care, pulmonary care,
wound care. Some patients need ibntibiotics. They may have dreams or captors.
They may have feeding tubes or eventracheostmis. Oh, so you're talking some

(02:43):
really serious specialties here. So whatkind of staffing can people expect in your
centers? Typically you'll find a medicaldirector or in our case, several medical
directors, specialty positions, and supportingmedical staff. You'll see administrative staff such
as an administrator, a licensed nursinghome administrator, admissions director, business office

(03:05):
manager, and medical records personnel. Will have directors of nursing, nurse practitioners
and other clinicians and nurse managers onsite, such as nurse practitioners RNs,
LPNs, certified nursing assistants. You'llsee housekeeping and maintenance teams, social work
department and care navigator. You'll finda dietitian and a dietary department, as

(03:32):
well as activities, life enrichment, and of course a director of rehab and
other therapists. You said something earlierthan I just want to go back to
it. You mentioned sub acute rehabhelp. What does that mean and how
can that help? Absolutely? Yes, it really allows the opportunity to recover

(03:52):
from a physical decline with daily therapythat addresses any weakness and deconditioning a person
might have. May sometimes even includecognitive therapy for memory care concerns. It
will offer some time for family todevelop a plan for the next step in
care if needed, gives you timeto talk with the care manager or to

(04:15):
research group homes or another level ofcare which sometimes people are looking for but
may not have the time to research. It can reduce the chance of another
hospitalization or crisis and ensure that youor your loved one is at their best
functioning level when you're in rehab.I'll just add you could receive an overall

(04:41):
assessment of you or your loved onesconditioned by specialists and the appropriate development of
goals, care plan, medication managementand adjustments that may have been needed with
position, oversight and recommendations will bemade for follow up care and service.
And one more thing, therapy andsocial services will have an opportunity to identify

(05:06):
any adaptive equipment or recommended services thatare needed to better enable a longer and
successful stay at home. So let'stalk about insurance real quick, if you
don't mind, is there any coveragefor this? There is, absolutely and
I think very important for people toknow their benefits. Skilled nursing facility care

(05:28):
can be covered under Medicare. Soif you do have Medicare, typically if
you've had a three nights day inthe hospital, they will allow up to
one hundred days coverage. The daysare not guaranteed, it is based on
your need for service. But ifyou have a Medicare you can go to
medicare dot gov to learn more aboutwhat your benefits may allow. If you

(05:53):
have other plans which many people do, such as Medicare Advantage or METICAP plans,
an HMMO or PPO, perhaps Medicaidor VA benefits, and in some
cases even workers comp will allow peopleto experience recovery in a skilled nursing facility.

(06:14):
So definitely pay attention to your benefits. Call Medicare or go online and
look at the keyword SNF which standsfor Skilled Nursing Facility when talking with your
insurance companies to learn what your benefitsmight be. Very good. Now,
how many centers are in this DVarea. We have nine in the DMV

(06:39):
area. Collingswood and Tuckerman are inMontgomery County. Tuckerman also offers assisted living
level of care in addition to theskilled nursing facility Care. We have another
assisted living in Westminster and three skillednursing facilities in the Baltimore area Westgate,

(07:00):
Orchard Hill and Meadow Park, aswell as three in the Alexandria, Northern
Virginia area Woodbine, Alexandria Rehab andBelmonte. How does Marquis help bridge the
gap or Buddy tell me what makesMarquis different in its art well. Over
the years, we have seen peopledischarge from hospitals earlier and with more advanced

(07:23):
clinical needs. Marquis implemented specialty programsand developed strategic clinical pathways by partnering with
top physicians in the areas that weserve and utilizing them as our medical directors.
They lead these specialty programs across ourcenters, assuring the best outcomes for

(07:44):
our residents and patients. So,for example, Collingswood, which is located
in Rockville, Maryland, has aspecialty programming and specialty physicians overseeing those programs
and cardiopulmonary care, chronic disease careand stage renal disease with an on site

(08:07):
dialysis center, Chronic illness disease Plan, palliative plan, Physical medicine, and
rehab and as well as a specialistmemory care program. And I'll also add
very special to Collingswood is that theircardiac program is certified by the American Heart
Association, and only one percent ofcenters across the United States have that certification.

(08:33):
Wow, okay, very good. Now you had mentioned earlier S and
F if I'm no mistaken, Andas I was reading through, you know,
the the website and things that youprovided me earlier for my research,
something just popped out and it saysit was about Urgent and Urgent SNF direct

(08:54):
Admissions. Am I hitting it atright? Recall it SNIFF SNFs NIFF for
short Urgent sniff, which is ourdirect admission service, and it supports what
we believe to be a global healthcare expectation and it provides really the right
provision of care in the right placeat the right time. So it's offering

(09:20):
an alternative option to individuals who maynot be meeting an acute hospital admission criteria,
for example, under their insurance benefits. However, they still require and
would benefit from rehabilitation services or skillnursing, oversight or stabilization. So this

(09:41):
program is very special and it allowsthose people to admit and receive services and
recovery without that qualifying hospital stay. And we have a direct line. Could
I give that direct line out pleasedo? Okay? It's eight hundred two

(10:01):
six two eight one one three eighthundred two six two eight one one three
for anyone interested in our urgent's deathprogram. That is excellent. You know,
I just recommend to anybody who hasa need for this type of service
to please, you know, goon your website. You'll give us information
here in a minute, and reallytake a look, because I was just

(10:24):

company. You're not a small company, right, You're throughout the US.

through and you and the website ofwhat you guys are doing. So thank

ability to do the things that shedoes. So thank you for you do.
