Speaker 1 (01:55):
Alright, man, look at this. We got big Jet. It's
news on a live, a special, live version of Green
Beans Jets Pod. That's what this is. You know what's funny,
boys and girls. I'm telling you the truth when I
(02:16):
say this. I had this conversation last night after the
game everything. It was first night of Hanukah. So we're
doing the the lochas and all the stuff, and I'm
gonna eat dinner and I'm gonna go and I'm going
to record the podcast and release it at six am
and do the whole thing. And I said to my
wife this exact sentence number one. I said, I'm tired.
(02:38):
I don't want to do it. But that aside, I said,
I don't. I feel like I feel like something's gonna happen.
And I'm gonna put the pod. I'm gonna do all this,
record it and edit it and all this shit into
the wee hours of the night, and something's gonna happen
tomorrow and it's gonna make it moot in the first
three hours. And look, well, I said, I'm just gonna
(03:01):
do a live version tomorrow and I'll tell you guys,
it's special. It's a live, special day and all that
jazz because it's my birthday and all that too, right,
so we get to celebrate from my birthday. And I
knew it, and I said, we're gonna do a live
version of the Jets Pod. I'm gonna wait a little
(03:23):
bit and I'm gonna do it. And wouldn't you know,
wouldn't you know? The jets gave us some of the
bigger news we could get right now, right, So welcome
to the show. This is Green Bean's Jets Pod, Episode
one hundred and ninety three, one hundred and ninety three.
(03:46):
I'll thank you guys for hanging out, but I also
want to thank you, as you guys know, we have
a goal of fifteen thousand subscribers before this whole thing
wraps up. Now, we were at like thirteen and chain
to the beginning of the season. So we're at fourteen
thousand plus and I've been at fourteen thousand, one hundred
(04:09):
and change for the last four weeks and I'm like,
come on, get me over, give me over the little
obstacle there. And yesterday after the stream, I went up
to fourteen thousand, two hundred and something. So thank you
guys for getting me out of that fourteen one thing,
and if you would be so kind, if you haven't
(04:29):
subscribed to the channel, it would be greatly appreciated. I mean,
what better day than green beans birthday? Huh? You know
what I'm saying. It's birthday day and I am now
as of three oh seven am this very morning, I
(04:50):
am fifty three years old. Can you imagine who'd ever
thought you'd do this? You know what I mean? Like,
you're going through life. You're a twenty one year old kid,
You're drinking at the bar, you're doing shots, you're staring
at her boobies, and all of a sudden you turn
around and you're fifty three. You got kids going to college,
and shit, You're like, wait a minute, what what happened?
(05:12):
So here we are. Thank you to everybody for hanging out.
Thank you for saying happy birthday everybody. Van Bean is cold.
It is cold in here, but I wanted to wear
my you know what this hat is? This hat we
procured this hat when we were on the road. We
(05:33):
were in Fort Lauderdal at the time, so it didn't
make it, but it was Christmas time and we were
making our Christmas card and since we were in the
RV my wife, who's very, very funny and just gets
the joke. My wife is the best with humor. She's
the best. She always laughing at me, which makes me,
(05:53):
which makes me happy, man. And she's funny in her
own right. So she had the idea, let's do a
Christmas vacation kind of a Christmas card and do a
shitters full card. So we did that. So we actually
took the picture. I got this hat so I could
be cousin Eddie, and we sent out the Christmas card
(06:16):
and it literally said shitter's full on our Christmas card.
All my wife. Isn't that the best? Sir alv Avla
checking in, Thank you for that, Jeff says, happy birthday,
Thank you, Jeff, Thank you. Sarketti Saketti. Good news to
see ag let dyeah man. And we'll get to all
that the dream. We're gonna talk about a little bit
(06:38):
of Brady Cook. We're gonna talk a little bit about
the wide receivers. We'll talk a little bit if we
get there about bres Sall, Isaiah Davis. I'd love to
open that can a little bit. And we're gonna obviously
talk about the big news of the day, the new
York Jets have fired defensive coordinators Steve Wilkes. And it's
(07:02):
such a funny thing as I observe and live among us, right,
I just look, I'm one of us. I'm a I'm
an old, beat up, tired and disenchanted Jets fan, but
I also enjoy watching my other Jets fans and how
Aaron Glenn in the press conference yesterday he gave a
(07:23):
little bit of support for Steve Wilkes. So, I mean
a lot of people in my sphere went fucking ballistic.
They were like, oh my god, I can't believe it
is fucking guy. I'm like to relax. It doesn't mean anything,
doesn't mean anything. The one thing I can say about
Aaron Glenn, like Jeremy texted earlier and said, it sound
(07:43):
feels like wood. He made this happen because Aaron Glenn
defended him yesterday. I said, not necessarily, man, Aaron Glenn,
if he's done anything, if he's been anything for us,
he's been consistent that he will defend his people behind him, right,
whether that's coaches, players, whatever. He stands on the podium
(08:07):
and he weathers the bullets, he takes on all the
heat and then he goes and he does what he
has to do with his team, evaluates, makes decisions, yells
at people, whatever it might be. It's been very consistent.
And I've told you guys me personally, I've been in
you know, in h directorial positions for the last you know,
twenty years, almost fifteen years, so I know what that's like.
(08:30):
I actually subscribe to the same mentality. Look at this thing.
The lag is coming. Hold on, y all right, bear
with the lag for a minute. It's gonna it's gonna
go It's gonna go away. I know it is. Let
me see where I am. Yep, it's gonna go away.
(08:50):
I have more than enough power. Let me see. Let
me just shut down a couple things and make sure
everything's going okay, uh from that whole thing. But yeah,
I'll shut down a couple things, so we'll deal with
the lag for just a minute. I know you guys
are gonna tell me about it in the chat, but
I want to say Aaron Glenn has been very, very
(09:12):
consistent with the way he does things. And again, like
I've told you, I actually like that. I see it clearly. Here,
see we're back. I see it clearly. I recognize it
for what it is and it doesn't mean anything. When
Aaron Glenn right after a game where he just watched
his defense give up forty eight points and he watched
(09:34):
his quarterback throw three interceptions and he goes to the
podium ten minutes later, and we expect, like everything he
says there is like me, He's gonna go on this
day on the podium and start yelling fucking Steve Wilkes's garbage.
He's not gonna do that. He's not gonna do that.
So anyway, I don't see it that way. I think
(09:55):
Aaron Glenn saw what we saw, needed a minute to
take look and the process, the feeling. You don't make
decisions emotionally, right man, That's what you don't do. You
don't make decisions based on emotions. When you do, you
stand to regret it. Can we at least say that
(10:17):
we don't know look decisions based on emotions. It's not
always negative. Like look, every time I've picked up a
chair and thrown it, which has happened quite a few
times in my life, before the chair lands, I'm already like,
oh shit, like it's heading toward the window. You know,
I'm like Rah, and I throw it and it's like,
as it's flying, you're like, oh shit, please don't break
(10:38):
that picture window, please, you know. So the regret comes in,
but that also goes with good stuff. When's the last
time you're like, you know, look, you're in a really
good mood, you're at the bar, you're in a great mood.
Everything's great, it's Christmas, and you say some stupid shit
like this next rounds on me yay, and then they
(11:00):
give you the bill and you're like, holy shit, was
that a bad move?
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Right?
Speaker 1 (11:07):
So you got you gotta know, making decisions when you're
in the emotions not a good look, not what you
want to do. So Aaron Glenn taking a minute. Look,
he's gonna defend his guys. He's out front. He says, look,
I respect Steve Wilk, which he does. They're they're friends,
they're colleagues. He's not, you know what I mean, And
(11:28):
you gotta take a look, you gotta settle down, get
into the intellectual side of things, and then say, hey,
you suck brother. Yeah, fucking get out of here. Man.
You're killing me kid, You know what I mean? That
kind of a thing. Uh So, let me just let
me acknowledge this real quick, uh Mitt Flair. Thank you
so much, my friend, thank you so much. It is
(11:51):
green Bean's birthday today, everybody. I'll say that a couple
of times because as people come in, I want you
all to know, right, I know, I'm not a big
birthday guy. I don't celebrate my birthday in a big
way or anything. My wife and kids, you know, I
do that whole thing. I'm not a big hooplop birthday
guy for myself. But it is my birthday, so I'll
(12:11):
talk about it. I'm here with you guys, and I'll
let you know. And you know, I like to say
happy birthday to others, you know what I mean. So
I know other people like to say happy birthday too,
So I want to give you guys that so and
I'm just so grateful. As I ponder, I sit back
and I look at everything. I just got the alert
last week that my channel is five years old. So
(12:34):
this December is the anniversary month right for my channel.
So I'm five years old on YouTube, which it feels
so much longer because I was doing get Nation for
probably somewhere between a year and a half and two
years before I made my own channel. So I've been around,
you know, so that's why it feels a little bit longer.
(12:55):
So it's my birthday and it's my YouTube birthday. So
mid Flair, thank you so much, my friend. From the
bottom of my heart, thank you. I just I love
you guys. I really hate you guys sometimes, you know
what I mean, Like, you know, yeah, we're tough, but
(13:16):
when the smoke settles and all the bullshit is aside,
and I just I just am like, I really love
you guys, and I'm really happy to be a part
of this community. I wish we got more goodies, I
really do. I really wish that we got more positivity,
(13:38):
like the big news for us what got us all
excited this year? We had three wins and they were
against whatever, the Falcons and they had Kirk Cousins. And
then you had the Brownies with with you know, with
Dylan Gabriel, and then you had the Bengals without Joe Burrow.
But don't forget, like, I always love that. I asked
(13:59):
my budd Sack from on Twitter. He's like, oh, and
the guys had all this, And I said, hey, well,
well how about we always like to talk about that?
What about the players we're missing? We never talk about that.
What about the fact that we're on QB three right
now and he's an undrafted free agent rookie. Now you
can say it's all decisions and it's our own damn fault,
make no mistake, but let's just be real here. There's
(14:22):
a weight class that we are where we are. We
played a playoff team with nine wins in the in
the jag you know, against the Jaguars, and they showed
us we're a playoff team. You are not, you know
what I mean. It's just and it looked it so
uh so mid Flair, bottom of my heart, my good friend.
(14:44):
I love us. It's a tough gig what we endure,
but we have each other and the message boards and
YouTube and Twitter and the discords that we have and
my bean Bagger crew. I fucking love those guys, Like
you know just what we've built here, I imagine because
(15:06):
I just look at how many content creators we have
and how many like Jets Twitter page, like, I don't
think there's anybody any other team with quite the community
that we have. I could be wrong, but I don't
think I am. I mean, who else has Phil Adams
(15:28):
from the UK checking in or Abismo charismo from the
south part of the globe Australia. You know Jolly Roger
and bray you know Brayden and all these guys. You know,
we have all these amazing people. I see you in here, Phil,
I see you, buddy. I love Phil Adams. Jet's chaos
(15:51):
out there in California. You know what I mean, Like
we're the best. So thank you. Mitt Dano checking in
from the Great Channel danger Zone. Look, my door shut
and has started lagging.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Hold on, hold on, everybody. It shouldn't be that way.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
It shouldn't be that way because I'm actually I'm going
in direct. I'm etherneted, you know what I mean. But
who knows it'll come back it. I don't know what's
going on with it. I don't know it is what
it is. I guess. We got one hundred and twenty
two people in here on the YouTube side, and we
(16:33):
have forty likes for my birthday. Let's see if we
can get one hundred and twenty two likes on the birthday.
What do you guys think? Right, let's squeeze those milk
thumbs everybody, And I'm gonna about the second half of
the show I'm gonna open up the phone lines today.
I don't usually do that, and I've told you guys,
(16:56):
it's a weird thing with me. Don't worry. The lag
will go away. The lag will go I promise you,
the lag will leave. I'll shut down a few other things, though,
why not. I don't do the the phone calls as
(17:16):
much as everybody else, like Jake and and everybody, because,
for whatever the reason is, it's just something about my beard.
I think I get as soon as I open the
phone lines, I get somebody that fucking sends uh, you know,
sex stuff. I get sexted, especially when I'm on with Jeremy.
(17:39):
For God's sakes, Jeremy has such an allure for the
sex world. I mean, they're like, oh, Jet's chaos is on,
Let's send porn. That's what they do. So I got
a gift today. Steve Wilkes has fired for my birthday.
That's how I'm choosing to look at it. But AnyWho,
let's say hello to some folks in the I see
(18:00):
you guys again. Thank you, Dano, mid Flair, Rusty Spooner
in the house. Happy birthday, green Bean, you wost some
spatch cock ha ha ha oh, that's good, dispatch cocking.
There we are Kyle donker Slut in the house. I
don't know. Look, i'll tell you donker slut. I don't
know if you know this. That's my name, that we
(18:22):
have the same name. I'm also Donker Sluth. I don't
know if you knew that. No, my actual name is Kyle.
Don't do I look like a Kyle? Do I look
like a Kyle? I don't think I do. Let me see,
let me see if you guys think it?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Do? I? Wait?
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Wait? Let's see what name do I look like? Let's
see Bill, Mike, let's see.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Here we go, Here we go? All right? So who
else is saying? Happy beilt Yashi or Yoshi? Sorry, yosh Yashi.
Happy birthday green bean? What a nice early present? Right on? Man?
Thank you Thomas Connett checking in? Thank you, my friend
Paul Buttery mm, happy birthday bean, phil Adams. There he
(19:25):
is Phil Adams to the finest green bean on planet right,
I'm a special kind of green bean? Right? Who else
we got here? I'm at with Rider on the storm.
I'm at work, can't watch and listen, but I just
wanted to quickly say good have a great day.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Good, he's happy and that makes me happy. Bearded VT.
Youre checking in talking about the birthday. Accountability for my birthday,
don't you love it? That's it, man, It's accountability. And
one of the reasons and is like I've told you guys,
I am on team Glenn. Yes, I get upset and
(20:05):
all the stuff, and I see mistakes and I'm with
you on that, but I don't. I'm passed for just
this year. I'm passed overreacting to the day to day right,
Like every word, every decision. I like, overall, the the
tact that Aaron Glenn is employing for this team. So
(20:31):
the accountability being number one, the penalties are significantly reduced
and you see it, like, look what about the penalty yesterday? Right,
we'll talk about that today too. Aaron Glenn's response to
the in his words, ticky tack penalty on Isaiah Davis
(20:53):
which took away the amazing punt return for a touchdown
from Isaiah Williams. I mean that was particularly impressive that
punt return. He looked like he should have been tackled
numerous times, numerous moves to break free and get to
(21:13):
that damn end zone. And they took it away for
really some bullshit. And I'll talk about Aaron Glenn's response.
It was interesting. My good friend Harry Ween are in
the house. Thank you Harry for your birthday wish. Rowling
three five one eight, Happy birthday being minus windsay well,
(21:35):
happy birthday to you. Happy early birthday to you, my
friend fifty five years old. We're in the same boat,
you and I. Thank you. Oh, Harry, I got Harry already. Rollo. Radcliffe,
thank you, my friend Radcliffe Murphy checking in with the
birthday wish. Bearded with the big one. Look at all
(21:57):
that I can't see the emoji's on this side. I
see it on YouTube though, Thank you Bearded milk thumbs
for jay Z. There he is. Let's get those milk
thumbs going for a green beans fifty third birthday. If
you haven't subscribed, today's today birthday wish. I got over
that fourteen two hundred preshold and now the dam's open.
(22:20):
Let's go on to fifteen thousand, baby, that's what we
gotta do. It's a real goal that I would love
to meet this year, and we're gonna be doing the
draft party. I can't wait to tell you guys. I
can't wait to give you guys the details. But it's
gonna be a big one. We're doing this big and
it's gonna be in Hoboken, New Jersey, right next to
(22:43):
the Path train and all that sort of stuff. It's
gonna be great. I can't wait to do it with
the Talking Jets crew. Hopefully Jeremy will be able to
fly in. He flew in last year. I don't know
if he can do it, but like Nick Shine was
there last year with Jeremy, dom C, I think would
come and we got to get Tigo out of his
(23:03):
cave down there in Florida. He's got to come up.
Local Jets or Loco Jets. Happy birthday. Thank you. Yeah,
it's a good gift from ag right man Matthiahs Simon,
my old buddy. There you are. I think I've been
thinking about you. You've popped into my head a few
times recently. Matt, I haven't seen you, so it's good
(23:28):
to see you. Thank you. So Keeddy, I go all right,
I'm catching up McNally. Thank you who else we got here?
I want to make sure and try to say thank
you to all you guys. Zoink in the house warm
and cozy for the Jets. Grandpa. Yeah, that's what it is.
I'd be I'm becoming like the grandpa role, which is weird.
(23:48):
It's a weird transition. Man. Uh, let's see what Let's
see what Yoshi's talking about here. We'll we'll break out
of the birthday thing. I want to try to say
thank you to as many I can as I can,
but thank you to everybody. If I miss you, it's
certainly not intentional. But I can't do that all day.
You know what I mean, you know the deal. I'm grateful.
(24:10):
I recognize why fans are scared about this move ruining
the tank. Oh I'm sorry. I recognize why fans are
scared about this move ru ruining the tank. However, we
have the worst linebacking cores, extremely thin at cornerback, no
pass rush, and are starting an undrafted third stringer at quarterback.
(24:31):
We'll be fine. I agree. Here's what I'd like to see.
Here's what I think. I'm gonna catch up with the
chats and get to the bottom. So thank you to everybody.
So here's the whole thing with the tank and Wilkes
(24:53):
and all that sort of stuff. I hear everybody right,
I hear it. But here's what this season. I gotta
get this this chat out of here, buddy. Let's see
what we got Dano. So here, here's here's what I see.
(25:20):
The tank is the tank right now. We we've been
talking about it since Week five, really right, So it's
crazy we are we are gonna most likely lose out.
This week's Saints game is really the one with the
most potential for us to to have a you know,
(25:42):
to pull out a victory. And I do believe that.
Brady Cook. I mean, look, he's got five interceptions to
fumbles and a myriad amount you know, just amount of
sacks in less than two games. Not the greatest start.
And I think even when you factor in rookie this
and all this stuff in the situation, five picks is
(26:03):
a lot, and three of them were in the end
zone or right around it, so scoring positions, so game changing.
So when you talk about a guy being a gamer
or a baller, I think Edgitanna and I were talking
about this in the stream yesterday. But when you talk
about somebody being like a you know, a gamer, what
you want is for the guy to show up, even
(26:25):
if they're quiet all day. You want them to show
up in the big moments right.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
Now.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
It's early in his career, nothing is finites or anything
like that. But what he is showing right now is
that he can play between the twenties and when it
gets down to the end zone, that he so far
that he's looking like he's cramping up. He's getting tight
(26:52):
down there. So it's like that pressure thing. You gotta
be careful with the pressure. Which, by the way, when
we talk about how much, you know, like Jeremy and
I were talking about it during the game, when you
talk about, you know, look, we got nuhing to lose,
Why isn't he just tossing the ball all over the right,
(27:14):
just fucking caution to the wind. Obviously we would like
to see that and everything. But there's another side to this,
and this is going to my whole overall point here.
The Jets are actually doing something. It's not just the tank,
it's not just draft. That's that's how we look at it,
(27:34):
but it's not how they're looking at it. When it
comes to Brady Cook. They're not trying to just dump
the entire kitchen sink on the guy and watch him
implode before our eyes. They're actually trying to feather him
in there. They're taking shots there, they're doing stuff with them,
(27:55):
but he's not really ready to be here. And if
he's got any chances of a career, and if we
have any chance of him developing into anything, you got
to make sure that you do it at least with
some tact like there has to be some manner of
consideration for him and his development as an NFL quarterback.
(28:18):
So it all factors into this whole thing with when
we're afraid of losing our potential to tank and make
it to as close as we can to the number
one overall pick, there's also other things very very important
going on which we want to go on. It's not
(28:39):
just like you know, this season isn't this season in
a vacuum. There's and it sounds corny and I know,
but you really do want to be able to see
what's going on with these players. Who is worthy of keeping,
who does have a little something to build on, who's
(29:01):
complete garbage and I want out of here. Whether that's
a talent issue or a character issue or whatever it
might be, whatever the reason is, you want to be
able to find that out. We have games left, what
do we have three. We got the Saints, we got
the Patriots, and the Bills left, so we have three
(29:26):
full games of football left to potentially learn about these
players and not just the players, the coaches, which we
found out today, Aaron Glenn is evaluating these guys now.
Jeremy brought up, like I said, maybe it's Woody. I
(29:48):
don't think it is. I think again, Aaron Glenn's not
gonna come after a press conference in front of the
media right after a blowout and say I'm firing. Somebody's
not gonna do that. He's gonna he's gonna do what
he did. But it doesn't mean that he's not working
on things, that he's not looking at things that we've
(30:09):
seen him cut people right after games. We see we
saw Xavier Gibson cut, We saw is Isaiah Williams cut.
Thankfully they brought him back. I was not on team
bring Isaiah Williams back. I was not. As a matter
of fact, I was a little bit unhappy about the
way they did that. Like they've they cut him and
(30:31):
they snuck him back in the bank door and they
slowly walked him in and next thing you know, he's
at the party again. I thought I kicked this guy
out one of those things, you know. So he's done
those things. And look, they've they've they've benched players like
I've talked about numerous times, particularly out front. It's happened more,
(30:54):
but you've seen it out front with the linebackers not
good enough, and they responded the next two weeks or so,
and I think really up until two weeks ago, they
kind of settled in and they were playing better. Now
(31:14):
the last two weeks has been abysmal. But one of
the things that we're now doing, we're looking at that
and we're saying, Okay, here's let me break this down
for you guys. So you got two players. You got
Jamien Sherwood, you got Quincy Williams. They're they're fast, they
have you know, they're capable. Quincy Williams has been all
the way to the All Pro Game, not game, but
(31:34):
he's been on the All Pro list. Jamien Sherwood just
filled in for CJ. Mosley and he just got resigned.
And so these guys have talent. You know that as
Aaron Glenn is trying to kick the quicker bullshit out
of this team, the quitter stuff. He's trying to kick
that out of here. He looks at his linebackers and
he says, not good enough. You're not starting this game.
(31:57):
I'm benching you, and they respond. So what does that
tell you? Right? That tells you that the players that
I have number one have talent. Well, if it's not
good enough, we'll figure that out. But they have talent,
they're NFL players. On top of that, they've proven that
(32:21):
they will respond to coaching, repercussions, accountability, that they can
be reached emotionally, intellectually, they can be reached. It's not
just some guy that you keep punishing or whatever and
nothing sinks in you know what I mean, it's not
They are responding. So now you know you have these
(32:42):
You have talented young players, youngish players that are reachable.
So the next thing is when you see Quincy have
literally the worst game he's ever had as a jet
right targeted six times, six receptions for like one hundred
and eighty yards, something shitty like that, crazy, crazy, bad game.
(33:05):
No sacks on the defense, just the whole thing. So
when you look at this, I have some talent. I
have players that respond. Now you look at the next thing.
Why why I already know that they'll respond, so what
are we doing with them? And it's not working? And
it's not just them, the whole defense looks confused and
(33:28):
everything like that. When you get to that point, you
have to look at coaching. You have to look at
the system. You have to look at implementation. You have
to look at these things. What are we teaching, how
are we teaching it, how is it landing? How did
we respond when it's not when it's not getting across right?
(33:48):
And I've done this all the time. I have this
beautiful idea, I have this beautiful system, I implement it
and it's just not working. I could look at everybody
else and say, all twenty of your I can do that.
Or I can actually do what's very very difficult to
do is I can turn it in and I could
look at myself say, wait a minute, maybe I'm not
(34:12):
doing I'm not teaching this in the way that it
needs to be taught to these people. A great coach
can bounce back and reevaluate his style, his systems, all
that for the players that he has. Right. We see
these coaches all the time, We've had him here plenty.
(34:35):
They need certain players for their system or they can't
do anything. That's gonna be the case to a degree
with every coach, of course, but the great coaches can
shift gears and go, well, I usually do this, but
that guy can't do it, so I'm gonna do this.
Steve Wilkes can't do that. That's what we learned. The
(34:57):
system is unnecess necessarily complex. Everybody looks confused. We're at
week fifteen and it's still happening. And it's not just
these players, it's we got a whole new cast of
characters and they can't get it. Nobody can understand it. Yet.
The offense is having no problem picking us apart. It's
(35:19):
just picking us apart. Every offense running up the middle.
The slants are open, the deep stuff's op. Everybody's confused,
and that's when you backtrack it. You look at the
coach and you go, dude, not good enough. So you
know what we're doing, right, We're now putting Chris Harris
(35:45):
out front, right, Chris Harris, I think, so he's now
going to be our defensive coordinator.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Now.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
I don't know if you guys heard Aaron Glenn's Aaron
Glenn's press conference, he said they were asking him and
I see you Barney, You're up next. But I see.
I mean, with his press conference, he was asked in
a couple different ways, are you gonna call plays? Is
(36:20):
the defense now yours? Are you gonna be assuming responsibility
for the calls of the defense during the game. Aaron
Glenn's answer was interesting. We all assume that now that
Wilkes is gone, Aaron Glenn is gonna assume play calling
(36:42):
and he's gonna run the defense on game day. He's
gonna do it live for the game. It didn't sound
like he has any interest in doing that. He doesn't
want to do it. He doesn't want to go. This
is what I'm picking up. He doesn't want to go
from head coach, you know, from his position of overseeing
(37:03):
everything and get logjammed bogged down with the actual calls
of the defense during the game. Now, I don't know
how I feel about it right now. I mean, look,
we've got three games left, We're at the end of
an abysmal season, and the whole thing. Let me see,
I'm gonna try to play it for you guys and
see what his answer is. I'd love for you guys
to hear it. Let me see here, let me see
(37:30):
Aaron Glenn Press conference, twelve fifteen, my birthday. Everybody, all right,
I'm gonna play this for you. It's toward the end
of the press conference. Let me let me get there,
(37:54):
let me see all right, and then we'll talk about
that other thing that's interesting thing to hold on. Hold on, buddy, buddy,
(38:18):
hold on, guys. All right, they're talking about and when
is this When is this media gonna cut the ship
with the quarterback thing? Like he's not gonna tell you
(38:38):
on Monday? How many times? And they beat it down.
They're like pounding them with it. It's crazy. He's like,
I'm not telling you today. Oh that's that. Hold on.
They also were asking about I guess Jermaine Johnson and
(39:02):
Quincy Williams didn't talk to the press yesterday, and they
are mad. I thought I knew exactly what it was,
but I don't. I guess. Oh here it is, okay,
(39:32):
all right, all right, all right, let's listen to this
little segment here. I'm lagging a little bit again. Oh,
let's do Barney Miller. Sorry about the delay, my friend
Barney Miller checking in. Give me my props. I called
Wilkes firing mid game. There it is Barney Miller. Baby,
(39:57):
you did it, man, I tell you I didn't look.
I'm gonna say it straight up. While I did believe
that Wilkes would be fired at the end of the season,
I mean, and I know, actually I didn't. I didn't believe.
Let me let me rephrase all this. I had a
(40:20):
concern that Steve Wilkes would not be fired, but I
thought it was realistic that he would be after the season.
I also saw the potential that they would bring somebody
else on and Steve Wilkes would stay on the staff,
be moved to like defensive assistant assistant head coach, that
(40:43):
kind of a thing. So I don't know. I wasn't
necessarily there, but I will tell you this. Never saw
this coming. Did not think we would fire a coach
mid season, did or not mid but even during the season,
let me say it that way, I didn't see it.
So I was surprised by this one. All right, let
(41:06):
me share my screen. I'm gonna end the poll. See
what you guys think my name is. What do you
think I look like? Let's see, so you guys know
my mother didn't name me green bean? Right, you guys
can put two and two together there. I imagine nobody's
(41:26):
surprised to learn that that's not my god given name
or you know, my where'd it go? I just ended
the poll and it didn't come there. It is, so
thirty five percent of you, I said, what name do
I look like? Kyle with thirty five percent, Bill with
thirty three percent, Mike with seventeen percent, and fifteen percent
(41:49):
said I looked like a Tony. So my actual name
is Kyle. So that side of the crew got it right.
I look like a Bill Sunshine Salami says, yeah, it's
definitely not. My name is actually Kyle Kyle, and I'll
show you.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
So you see I got my.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
So I had my Dennis Bird jersey. You can see
this ninety right. Let me put it back, but this
one doesn't say bird. I had one that said bird.
It's now gone. I gotta get a new one. But
this is my that's my last name. So there you go.
So I'm a Paison at least I was raised as
(42:38):
a Paison. Turns out I'm a Mick who knew. I
found out I was Irish Scottish when I was twenty
five years old. Not funny, says, we all know green Beer.
That's right. Green Bean's my middle name. Dude, My middle
name is even weirder. All right, here we go, So
let's listen to this. Aaron Glenn, I want you to
(43:00):
you're his answer about uh calling the pleas.
Speaker 7 (43:06):
For the defense, and I told you guys that, and
you know that's my job as the head coach, and
I just thought this was the time for me to
make that decision.
Speaker 3 (43:20):
So will Chris call the defense?
Speaker 5 (43:23):
Chris? Chris? Chris be calling? Chris be calling the defense.
He's done before in the preseason.
Speaker 7 (43:29):
Again, I will be assisting him as the week goes
by on game planning.
Speaker 5 (43:34):
But I've said this before that this is this is the.
Speaker 7 (43:37):
League of change, and with change come opportunity, and this
will be a good opportunity for him to get a
chance to call it.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Or do you want to see happened with this defense
the next three weeks? Now?
Speaker 5 (43:51):
I want to see consistent improvement. I want to see
structure that's consistent.
Speaker 7 (43:57):
I want to see play that's consistent, and and I
want to see the character of this This this the
coulture of this football team come together. And that's just
the defense. I know you asked me about but I'm
just talking about it in general. I want to see
the culture of this this football team in these last
three games, and that's what we're evaluating. Also, you know, listen,
I don't think we have a culture problem. But the
(44:19):
thing is, I want to make sure the things that
we've been building up this point stays exactly where it
is and even improved. So but defensive, that's what I
want to see. Consistency about how we operate, the way
that we play.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
All right, there's another I'm not going to go looking
for it. There's another part of it. I guess. Let
me see real quick. Where he talks about it, they
kind of dig into it a little bit more.
Speaker 7 (44:41):
You know, from last week going to this week that listen,
I just.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
Thought him and.
Speaker 7 (44:51):
Listen, I just thought that, you know, from last week
going to this week, that the improvement wasn't wasn't there,
and I thought it was time to make a change,
you know. And again I'm gonna make the decision that
that's best of this organization at all times. And it's
my job to make sure I continue to evaluate everything
(45:14):
that's going on. And I told you guys that, and
you know that's my job as the head coach, and
I just thought this was the time for me to
make that decision.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
Yes, so there it is. So I mean, there's another
date again. I can't go digging through it all and everything.
But this fucking lag kills me. I don't know why
I have it. It's like I'm all locked in. I
got plenty of bandwidth and everything. There was another part
(45:45):
of that where they asked him about the play can.
But the thing is he's saying, Chris Harris is going
to be our defensive coordinator, and that's fine. You need
to put somebody in there and give him the title
and the whole thing. But I really what I think
I would have preferred to see Aaron Glenn call the
defense and see what's going on here, you know what
(46:05):
I mean, just see just see what we can like
max max this out. But he also, I guess what
he's doing now three games. It's not the longest, you know,
it's not that much time, but it's still three games.
If maybe he's considering, you know, what we're gonna do
(46:26):
on the defensive side of the ball. So is he
like if if he likes you know, I don't know.
It's it's just hard it's hard to buy into the
idea that he would keep Chris Harris as his defensive
I don't give a shit what he does. Like if
the team turns around and we shut out the Saints,
Like does that really I don't know? And then we
(46:47):
play like if let's say this, if he comes out
and in three weeks, guys are flying around, everybody seems
to know their assignments, and we beat the shit out
of the Saints and we, you know, hold the Pats
to you know, seventeen points, and same thing with the
bill like something like that. I don't know, maybe you
(47:10):
consider it, but I have to believe that we are
going to be looking outside to bring somebody in here
to completely revitalize this defense. We have five first three
seconds and a whole bunch of other picks and one
hundred fucking twenty million dollars. This is an opportunity. We
have twenty twenty three expiring contracts. I think it is
(47:33):
getting interceptions, right, Tom Katt, right, imagine that. But this
is an opportunity, a real opportunity here. All right. You
got your first year as a head coach out of
the way. You got it out of the way. You
learned all the stuff you learned. You traded Sauce Carter,
(47:56):
you traded Quinnin Williams, you traded Michael Carter, you cut
Xavier Gibson, right, you got you made all your fourth
quarter mistakes, your halftime mistakes, your clock management. Shit, you
learned a bunch. Now we have an opportunity to get
the types of players that you want in here, going
(48:18):
from a two hundred and fifteen pound linebacker to maybe
a two hundred and thirty eight pound linebacker. Right, getting
those guys in here. The pass rush you saw it.
If there's ever been anything proven on this for this
team this season, I think it's one thing. Will McDonald
is a specialist. That's it. If you need him a
(48:39):
little bit more here and there, that's fine. He is
not an every down defensive end. It's nuts. Is not
what he's It's not what he does, man, it's not
and what it's doing. Him playing more reps and I
don't know what the percentage is. I'd have to look,
but him playing that many he reped that you know
(49:01):
that much more, especially on running downs, and all that
I think is taking away from the potency of his
you know of his past rushing, like when it's third
and twelve and you need that Will McDonald impact. It's
no longer there because he's been out there for the
(49:23):
previous you know, amount of whatever amount of time, and
he's and he's huffing, puffing, blowing houses down. Let's crew
checking in. I like that AG isn't calling the d
He still needs to focus on learning the head coach.
We'll see, We'll see what Harris and the players can do.
(49:44):
Milk dumb. Squeeze those milk dumbs for green Bean's birthday. Everybody,
it's my birthday, and I cry if I want to?
Is that a song?
Speaker 4 (49:57):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (49:57):
What happened there? Why is this going on? Here we go?
We got one hundred and seven squosen milk thumbs. We
have one hundred and seventy three in the chat. We
got another. Wow, we got another one hundred and fifty
on x or so, so let's get up. Let's see
(50:18):
if we can't get those milk thumb numbers up. Hit
the like button for me. If you haven't subscribed, please do.
It is greatly appreciated. So you know what, Let's crew,
you bring up a good point and this is all
fresh and new. So I'm like thinking about it while
I'm with you guys. Right, so this is like real
time stuff. The uh, the point that you're making about
(50:46):
ag not like holding that line and not calling the defense,
which would be easy for him to do, right, It's
something he's done. It's like, uh, you know, a comfort
zone if you will, It would be easy to do that,
just to slide in and call the defense. I think
(51:11):
it and what I was just saying a few minutes ago,
I actually my initial reaction is I want to see
Aaron Glenn call the defense. But your point about him
still just stay back. Nothing's going on this year anyway.
You don't have to keep just doing the thing that
you really need to do, which is become a stronger,
(51:36):
successful head coach for the New York Jets. That's what
it has to be. And I think you're right when
it all comes down to it, I think Blitzkrew is correct.
I was wrong, so therefore Aaron Glenn is correct. I
like what blitz cru said here. Thank you for correcting
(51:58):
me now, you know, help my thinking. New York Jets
fan four five eight six or four eight five six
says his birthday was on the tenth, so Happy birthday
to you, buddy. All the December birthdays are coming out
of the woodwork. The Sagittarians attack. H here we go,
(52:22):
so Dunk says, uh Dunk, Lloyd. I wasn't expecting that newsday.
I thought he'd see I had me too, That's what
I was just saying. I feel like this is definitely
a surprise, even if you thought he was getting fired,
which I saw lots of Jets fans talking yesterday about,
(52:44):
you know, Aaron Glenn needs to fire this guy, right like,
we saw all that stuff, and not just Jets fans.
I saw other uh you know, talking heads and whatever,
which is kind of what I am right now. I'm
kind of a talking head. Huh. But uh oh, Ryan
says the birthday was a ninth Happy birthday to you, Ryan,
(53:05):
Ryan Fagan, Happy birthday, all right. But I thought that
even if I thought he was gonna get fired after
the season, I just didn't see it. But I think
it's smart. I think, look, why not let's see what
these last couple weeks are with just a jolt of inspiration,
maybe simplified a little bit, because the word on the
(53:28):
street is that this defense is complex and it doesn't
need to be. I mean, look, even guys like Michael Carter,
Like I just remember when I was watching the All
twenty two the coaches film for the first two weeks,
I was watching the defense, and I just remember it
stood out to me. Michael Carter looked positively lost. It's
(53:49):
just something that stood out. He looked lost, like he
was letting guys go like they were in Man and
he's letting guys go into a zone that nobody's there,
Like he was doing that kind of stuff and like
obviously thinking he had help that he was he was
just taking the guy till the boundary of his zone
(54:11):
and he was letting them go and there was nobody
there and you could see it. There was confusion where
they were lining up and all that. So, like this defense,
it doesn't need to be this complex. Now, look, if
you have all the players that can you know if
if you got I don't want to call them stupid,
(54:33):
right because that's definitely not the case. But you got
to look at the players and what their ability to
ingest your information is. You have to be able to
determine that as a coach. You can't just steamroll forward
and do and just just do what you do. You
got to be paying attention or you know, is it landing?
(54:53):
Do they understand? Is it making sense? And here we
are in week fifth and the guys are running around
like fucking chickens with their heads cut off. Everybody. It
just seems like it's on every play. We talk about it,
Jeremy and I on the live streams, every we say
it every week, nobody is covering this guy? How does
(55:16):
that guy get so wide open? Why isn't anybody there? Right?
We say it constantly, who's supposed to be covering this guy.
It's one thing to get beat right one on one,
you're you're you're covering somebody and they put on a
move and they get the step on you. That sucks
(55:36):
and everything. But it's that's one thing, talent versus talent.
He beat you. It's like two guys running into each other.
One guy went, hey, he was there, he just got beat.
He got beat. But it's another entirely to watch your
team and like they don't know where they're supposed to be.
(55:58):
Now you can add I mean, look, we had Jordan
Clark on the field yesterday. Jordan Clark, He's running around
as a defensive back, So there's that right, You got
to afford them that little there. You have to factor
(56:19):
it in. But at the same time, there's no if,
sans or butts about it. They are not being coached well.
They do not understand their assignments. And that's on the
coach until you can make a personnel change. It's on you, bro,
it's on you head to head. Running backs coming through
(56:42):
the hole and the linebacker gets trucked or he puts
on a move and fucking leaves you in the dust.
The coach can't impact that, you know, the coach can't
do anything about that. Well, when guys are routinely out
of position and when they're thinking, guys, you know that
when you're thinking when you're on the field, and and
and and you're thinking about your role, Oh my god,
(57:05):
I supposed to be here. We about the guy that
you're less effective on the field physically when you're up here.
And that's where continuity comes in and all. That's why
we talk about it all the time. You can't just
keep shuffling guys in and out. You got to you
gotta start at some point. You have to have your
guys and you gotta start teaching and getting them used
(57:26):
to the defense or offense for that matter. They have
to be comfortable, they have to know it inside and out.
So when they're on the field, they're just playing, they're
not thinking. So Joe the Jet g says it is
Woody meddling. That's we were talking about that a few
(57:47):
minutes ago. Joe Jeremy brought up that point on our
little Talking Jets chat stream that we got going on.
I don't think so. And I don't know why it would, Like,
why would would he come in now and say fire
the defensive. I don't know. I just don't see it.
(58:08):
I think it's what we've seen. Like if you look
at the season, just the all we have is the
last fifteen weeks of Aaron Glenn. That's how we know,
you know, we have that much info on how he
reacts to games. We've seen it. It's very consistent. We've
seen it time and time again. We overreact and then
(58:30):
a decision is made and it's the opposite of what
we thought because of the words he used. He comes
out in the press conference and he says whatever he's
going to say. But whenever there's like an attack on
a player, on a system, on a decision on a whatever,
he defends it, he defends it out front. He is
(58:51):
yet to throw anybody under the bus. The worst he's done,
I think is when he said, if you're causing us
to lose games, you won't be on the team. And
that was in response to the Xavier Gibson fumble too
fumbles really in week one, that's like the worst he did.
(59:12):
If you can bring if you can think of another one,
let me know. I just can't. I don't think Aaron
Glenn is not gonna come out after a game. He's
not Rex Ryan Rex. Ryan was emotional and he just
spouted off at the hip. You know, Rex, would you
(59:32):
you could get Rex to talk. Aaron Glenn's not that way.
He's gonna come out as a rule, he's going to
defend the man. And then in the locker room he's
gonna go back and he's gonna do whatever he's got
to do. He might be ripping people's heads off for
all we know. Remember that rumor years ago, there was
(59:55):
a rumor that Todd Bowles, when he was our coach,
came into the locker and like knocked the fight. He
was so mad he fucking knocked the water thing off
or whatever. He was screaming and yelling and he broke
the water cooler, remember that. And it was like what really,
because you know, Bowles is known as like he's like
(01:00:16):
he you know, he's said to be this, you know,
great defensive mind and he's real fiery and and we didn't.
You don't see it ever, I don't know. But then
behind closed doors you just don't know. So but anyway,
like Aaron Glenn defend, like the woody meddling stuff comes
from the idea that Aaron Glenn just defended Wilkes yesterday.
(01:00:38):
He just came out and he said, no, I respect him,
and he's here for a reason and all. So then
to fire him the next day seems contrary. Those those
ideas bump. But again, if you look at his track
record with us, he doesn't do that. He's not gonna
come out and say that guy sucks and he needs
(01:01:00):
to go, or any variation of that. He said it
was disappointing, he said it was unacceptable, all those things.
But you know, so I don't think so. I don't
think so. Topcat says. What I don't understand is why
(01:01:22):
you announce to the world you're going to be a
running team. I know, I don't know why they do
any of that. Well, that's like you think about this topcat,
think about how hard it must be, how hard it
must be to have to go before the media as
many times as they do and get asked these questions,
(01:01:44):
you know what I mean. Like it's non stop. There,
it's the first half is over. They're running to the
locker room and there's some blonde girl, you know, with
a microphone. Hey, hey, coach, what do you think happened?
What are you going to do in the locker what's
gonna happen in the second coach? You know what I mean?
(01:02:05):
And then they come out for the third quarter? Coach, coach,
And then the second the game ends, you go to
the locker room, you talk to your player. You gotta
go out there. It's like we're minutes away from whatever
just happened, and you got to go before these people
that are asking you about the defensive coordinator. You know
(01:02:28):
what I mean. It's gotta be really difficult to never
say anything, to never have anything slip, which is what
they're trying to do. Our media in particular are pretty
good at it. Like they they are incessant when it
comes to, you know, getting people to talk, like in
(01:02:50):
saying the thing and then you see it. They ask
questions in a very specific way, and when you give
the right answer, they come back around and ask the
exact same question with different words. They're trying to get
you to all they want. They want you to say
the thing they want it, so it's hard, But I'm
(01:03:11):
with you. I wouldn't tell anybody anything. It's like, it's
like when you come out on third and one and
you have an empty backfield right top cat. You have
an empty backfield on third and one? Why I why
would that ever be? I would literally never do that. Never.
(01:03:37):
I would never tell the defense there is like there's
no chance this is there's no chance is going to
be a running play. This is definitely going to be
a pass or a pass some sort of end the
round ors like it doesn't make sense to telegram that.
(01:04:01):
And we've had dude three. I mean, at least Angstrand
hasn't done it very often, if at all. I don't
recall seeing him do it at all. But Mike Lafleur,
Paul Hackett or Nathaniel Hackett and uh Downing all did
it like why you know what I mean? So it's
(01:04:23):
the same kind of thing. All right, Well, we're gonna do.
I'm gonna open up the phone lines here for you guys.
Let's see if anybody calls. I don't usually do this,
so we'll see. If you do, you can get a
you can get a call. I'll answer it. Let me
(01:04:45):
let me pin this comment. I'm gonna pin the link
to the top of the stream, Okay, And in the meantime,
I'm gonna remind you, guys, number one, it's my birthday.
Speaker 6 (01:04:57):
Yay, fifty th three years old today, it's my birthday,
and if you want to celebrate my birthday, the best

you're interested, we can have a little chat. No stress,
no pressure, doesn't matter if nobody calls or anything. Let's see,
I'll get to some comments here. No, I didn't see
bow Nicks last night. What'd you guys think of? H
(01:07:27):
of Philip Rivers? Huh? What do you think of that guy?
That was crazy? I know? Ryan Jet says, what do
you think about bowls? Dropping? Seven F bombs? And the
word shit like three or four times? That was Todd Bowles. Yeah,
(01:07:47):
I mean that's the equivalent of Rex Ryan throwing chairs,
flipping tables, right, that's the equivalent for somebody who has
no problem being that way. It's like, that's how extreme
it was for Todd Bowles. If you guys didn't see
that presser, you gotta watch it. It almost looks to
me like it was ai like when Jake showed me.
(01:08:10):
I saw it first on Jake Asman's show when I
was with him the other day he played it live. Dude,
I thought it was Gator, I really, I thought Gator
was doing something. I was like, what the hell am
I watching? But Philip Rivers not too shabby, man, right,
(01:08:33):
didn't do too bad? Now, he looked old, he did,
you know, as far as his physical you know, he
looked a little stiff. But dude, if we got that
quarterback play, I'd be happy with it. Oh, it's so crazy,
the Jets and their quarterback situation. So let's talk about this.
(01:08:56):
There's the I want to bring this up to on
the presser, the penalty. Here we go, here we go.
We're gonna I want you to hear what Aaron Glenn says.
It's really an interesting take as far as you know why,
(01:09:17):
you know why the coach needs to talk about it
and why the organization needs to confront the NFL a
little bit. All right, So here's what Aaron Glenn said.
We're talking about the penalty on Isaiah Davis for blocking
out of bounds, which nullified one of the most impressive
(01:09:40):
punt return touchdowns we've ever seen. It was, it was amazing,
and at that point in the game, as you know,
that was that brought us to one score. It was
a one score game. Like that's the stuff, man, Like
think about it. You guys can say, oh, special teams.
You know, I don't want to rely on pecialty team.
That's fine, I get it. But the truth is is
(01:10:01):
that right now we have very little. We we have
a few weapons, like really strengths special teams happens to
be one of them. Our punt game, right, he's able
to pin you back, you know, inside the red zone often.
And then uh, there's also the return game. It's part
(01:10:23):
of what we do and it got taken away. So
let's do this and then James, I see you hopping in.
Let's you know what, hop in and listen to this
with me. Okay, and we'll do that. All right, let's
welcome James to the show. Hey buddy, how you.
Speaker 5 (01:10:35):
Doing, good man? Good associate it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Listen to this thing with me and then we'll and
then we'll turn it over and you can get some
some chitty chatting in with me. Cool, all right, yeah,
all right, So here it is. This is Aaron Glenby
and talked asked about that penalty.
Speaker 5 (01:10:51):
And yeah, yeah, I am, I am.
Speaker 7 (01:11:00):
I mean that was that was a critical critical time
in the game because I think it took it a
with twenty one to fourteen at that time.
Speaker 5 (01:11:09):
May it was a hell of a return.
Speaker 7 (01:11:11):
And listen, there there was hand fighting, you know, when
when they both out of bouncing. But I just think
that that was somewhat TICKI tech and we'll say exactly
what they what they say when it comes to that,
Just like most.
Speaker 5 (01:11:23):
Of those parents.
Speaker 7 (01:11:23):
Man, it's the point that I know that, you know,
I got name looking. I don't worry about those, but
some of them I just really want to understand, Like
how do I coach the player? You know, when the
player asked them about this penalty? Those are the ones
I sent in for the most part.
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
There you go. So I liked what he said there
about about you know, I got to know how to
coach to play. Yeah, I gotta know what the fuck
this is. If you're telling me that's a penalty, I
need to know how to respond to it. So anyway,
what's up, James, how you doing, buddy? Can you hear me?
Speaker 5 (01:11:57):
Gringdean?
Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
I can hear you, Man, You're fine. I'm lad. Yeah,
I can hear you. Can you hear me? I can't
hear you. Hold on, let's see if we can pull
this off with my bullshit all of a sudden. Hold on,
can you hear me? I can hear you. We can
hear you. Good, James, Ship, can you hear me? Grand Yeah,
(01:12:26):
I'm gonna call you back. I'm gonna call you back.
I can't. Yeah, it's probably on my end. Is why
nobody ever calls me. You know what I mean, Phil,
You know what I'm saying. Body, This is why nobody calls.
I gotta, I gotta look, I'm going, Uh, I got solutions.
(01:12:47):
I'm working on stuff. I promise. Let's see if we
can't get James in uh now here, let's see how
we do it. So I'm lagging a little bit, James,
That's what the problem is. Can you hear me? Can
you hear me? James? This is it? This is not
(01:13:12):
gonna work. I don't thought. Oh that's a shame. We
can hear James. Joe Gronne can hear James is totally
frozen and I'm I'm still here. I don't know, James.
I'm all caught up. I'm back, so my my, my
(01:13:32):
lagging is gone. Let me try one more time. Let's see, James.
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
Green Bean? Can you hear me? Fuck with this fucking thing?
I don't know what it is?
Speaker 8 (01:13:48):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Hold on, sorry buddy, waiting for connection. Let's let's see
if we can't work.
Speaker 8 (01:13:53):
This is it?
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Better?
Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:13:55):
We can hear you? Fine? Can you hear us? This
fucking all right?
Speaker 4 (01:14:01):
Well?
Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
James, I'm sorry, buddy. Let's just know we can hear you.
I guess you. You can't hear us? Can I hear you?
That's funny, Dane. We can hear you fine, but you're
not hearing me for some reason. Let's try one more time.
This is it? Yeah, he's not coming in. Yeah, sorry, James,
(01:14:25):
nice swing though. Hey listen, James, I'm gonna open this
up again. I'm gonna try to start taking calls again
and we'll get you on the show. But I'm sorry, buddy. Yeah,
I was lagging. It's say. That's the thing, right when
he was trying to call, when he first started, it was,
it was lagging pretty bad. Let's see if we got ah,
(01:14:46):
let me see here. Yeah, I don't know. This is
I'm a I'm a failure at this side of things.
It's all me. I had that much, I know. Let's see. Listen,
all right, I don't okay, Oh hey, it is what
(01:15:07):
it is. James going full Todd Bowles on us, right,
He's dropping those F bombs like a madman. That's all right, James.
So anyway about that penalty, I don't have any real
I didn't have any expectation for that game. I think
most of us knew we were going to lose that game, right,
most of us, But you wanted to see a game.
(01:15:33):
It's a funny thing right now, which you know, with
this whole tanking thing, like we want to lose the
games and we all fight about it and all this
kind of stuff about you we shouldn't win meaningless games.
But then when we lose, it's this whole diatribe for
three days about how bad we suck and Todd Bowlesney
(01:15:53):
are Todd Bowls. We've got Todd Bowles on the brain,
Aaron Glenn needs to go and all this kind of shit.
Let me see here, right, But so we can't have
it both ways, you know what I mean. It just
it can't be both ways. Guys, it's James. I'm not
(01:16:14):
gonna I'm not gonna do it man, like I can
see it. So I apologize. It's not on your end.
It's probably my end. But you're good. When we do
it again, I'll get you on man, all right, But
I appreciate you trying for me, buddy. Yeah, sorry about that, James.
But what was I talking about? So shit, what was
(01:16:37):
I talking about? I forgot what I was talking about
take as many calls to sort the issues. Nah, my
hands are so cold. I don't want to do it.
I really am cold in here today. I got the
door open. It's like thirty degrees here in Virginia right now.
(01:16:59):
But uh je Rusty Spooner says, it's all James's fault. Yeah, man,
but I forgot what I was talking about there. But
as far as depends, oh oh oh oh oh okay.
So I was saying before the game, they're The way
I put it right was the Jaguars are gonna lose
a boot in our ass. That's really They're going to
(01:17:23):
the playoffs. Liam Cohen is also a rookie head coach.
He's trying to to really build something. He's got Trevor Lawrence,
who's had a rough He had urban Meyer that was ah,
a shit show. Then he had Peterson and that looked
good for a minute, but whatever. And he's on his
third head coach. So you got this kid with all
(01:17:47):
you know, this young quarterback with all this potential, and
you gotta you got a roster that looks like it's
got some meat on it. Right, He's a rookie. He's
trying to do They're aggressive. They're trying to make a statement.
They want to go, they want to take the division.
That's what they're trying to do. We, on the other hand,
(01:18:10):
are fucking evaluating rookie fifth round safeties. You know what
I mean, That's what we're doing. We're you know what
I mean? Like, this is a whole different thing, and
we didn't know we're about to fire coaches. It's a
different thing. There is no way in hell that the
Jaguars are losing to the Jets. I knew that now.
(01:18:30):
I also thought that it was likely to be a
little bit lopsided as far as the scoreboard went. I
didn't think it would be forty eight points, truth be told,
but I knew that something like that was going to
go down. It was frustrating with the defense and everything,
of course, right, But when you look at it and
(01:18:54):
then we do lose, which should make most of the
fan base happy, it's really it's a lot of the
same folks, like where we don't want to win, but
then when we lose, we're pissed, Like I don't get it, guys,
Like that's what I was saying. We can't create a
(01:19:15):
scenario where there's no way to be happy. So what
our expectations really are or we want to play lights
out football. We want to be really good and lose
by a field goal in the last second. Like that's
what we want, which is not realistic. Maybe once or
you know what I mean, maybe it can happen here
or there like that, but there's no way in hell
(01:19:38):
we're not that team that we're going to show up
and play four quarters of competitive football, like really keeping
up with the Jaguars, keeping up with playoff teams, and
then lose. It just doesn't work that way. So what
(01:19:59):
you have to fok is the young guys who who's
gonna stick around? Like a good example of this is this,
Like we have decisions to make, right, big ones. One
of the biggest is bris Hall. One of the biggest
decisions we have to make Breece Hall. What do we do?
(01:20:27):
Do we want to extend this guy? He's going into
his fifth year next year, so he's young, not super young,
but he's still young. He only got four years in
the NFL. Do you want to give him money? It'll
probably cost somewhere around twelve million a year. Do you
(01:20:47):
want to do three years? Four years? He's not gonna
sign on for one year. Not gonna do it. He'll
sign somewhere. Somebody's gonna want bris Hall without question. But
here's where we are. You got this, you got this proposition.
I have a running back. He's very talented, really good
(01:21:08):
in the passing game. When he gets going, he's one
of the best. And you go into this game yesterday
and he gets twenty yards. He looked slow and tied,
didn't he He looked. And we've seen this from Brees
where you can kind of tell he has games where
he's looking juiced and games when he looks like he's
(01:21:30):
got sand in his ass. Yesterday was was the latter.
You can see it. So one of a couple of
things is happening. One is we've relied on him. We
put a lot on his plate, more much more than
he's used to being like the bell cow, and he's
worn down. He's just toast, which isn't the best sign.
Speaker 4 (01:21:53):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
We've been crying for Briefs Hall to get a you know,
more of the workload for you. At least I have.
And I'm not alone. He said, Look, man, he's a
premiere back. Give him twenty five carries again or twenty
He should have twenty five touches a game, most of
them being running. He should have twenty behind you know,
(01:22:14):
behind center, from the backfield, and then five more in
the passing game. That should be he should be getting
that consistently, That's what I've been saying, and then he
gets it. He has that one very very ill timed,
unfortunate fumble going into the friggin end zone, which sucks
(01:22:35):
takes the wind out of your sales. But he's been
really good at times. He's been really good. But if
he's wearing down because he hasn't gotten Adrian peterson workload,
Curtis Martin workload, he hasn't gotten that. So why is
he so tired? Week fifteen? Why is he so beat up?
Is he injured? Is he banged up? And we just
(01:22:57):
don't know. Is it one of those things or is
he quentin Is Bree's quitting? I don't know. I'm not assumed.
I'm not insinuating that he is. But when you look
at this stuff, you have to really you have to
(01:23:19):
factor this in to your decision. We have Braylan Allen
who's injured this year, but I still have to mean
he's gonna come back Isaiah Davis got a lot of
the workload yesterday, had a six point five yard rushing
average something like that, six point three something. He looked better. No,
(01:23:40):
I don't think Isaiah Davis is a better running back
than Breeze all but in yesterday's game he looked better.
Isaiah Davis showed you something yesterday. I am a gamer.
I will play till the whistle, till the final, till
the gun is shot in the game. That's where I am.
All right, let's try one work call. We'll see if
(01:24:02):
is this swamp ranger or is it a different swamp
swamp Ranger? Look at this all right, let's say hello,
what's up man, what's up being? How you doing man?
Is this swamp Ranger or a different swamp? Oh? This
is this is swamp Ranger, fucking Hawaii guy. Yeah, hell yeah, yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:24:23):
So it's working all the way out in the middle
of nowhere in the Pacific.
Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
That's awesome. It's nice to put a face man. Hey,
that's thanks for calling it. It's nice to get to
like meet you, you know. Yeah right.
Speaker 8 (01:24:35):
I wish I could come to one of these events, man,
But I'm not spending thousands of dollars to.
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
Come on.
Speaker 8 (01:24:42):
Why, yeah, I'll pay four hundred bucks for NFL Sunday
ticket to come or to sit up my computer and
watch you and Jeremy Bor rate the Jets.
Speaker 1 (01:24:57):
Yeah, that's about it. Hey, hey, I okay, fine, we'll
let you off the hook. Yeah, no problem. So what's
going on? Not much, man, dude. I think the Jets
are screwed.
Speaker 8 (01:25:10):
Man, Like, next year, we've got the NFC North and
the AFC West. Now that injury to Pat Mahomes kind
of changes stuff, but even still, like Andy Reidal out
coach US depending on you know, when we play the
Chiefs next year, whether it's in the beginning of the
year without Pat or you know, towards the end when
(01:25:32):
he comes back.
Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
I don't see this team. Granted, you know, we.
Speaker 8 (01:25:36):
Still got the whole offseason and the draft and whatnot
to make improvements.
Speaker 1 (01:25:40):
But I think next year is another like five to
six win year for US. I don't see any room
for improvement.
Speaker 8 (01:25:51):
I think the Raiders are by far the worst and
most pathetic team in the NFL, and we'll end up
with the number one overall pick. And yeah, I think
the Jets are if if we draft Dante More. Dude,
We've seen it times. This kid's gonna come in and
the entire regime will be gone in the next two
(01:26:14):
years after drafting that kid.
Speaker 1 (01:26:16):
So you're saying he sucks.
Speaker 8 (01:26:20):
I think he's the kind of guy that needs to
sit behind a you know McVeigh out out in l
A Or Kevin O'Connell and Stu for a year or
two behind the mask because you know, all the all
the he's got what one year starter under his belt,
all the all the guys you know that the draft
(01:26:41):
people say this kid, you know, he's got.
Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
All the traits.
Speaker 8 (01:26:44):
We hear about the traits and you always hit the
nail on the head, man, Like the Jets don't need
guys with traits.
Speaker 1 (01:26:50):
They need football players, right because we can't.
Speaker 8 (01:26:53):
We have an inability, especially on the offensive side of
the ball, to develop guys. They're either stud when they
come to the Jets and then they get worse, or.
Speaker 1 (01:27:03):
They stink and they have traits I e. Arian Smith
with the speed and then they never see the field.
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:27:11):
So you know, look, I'm gonna share with you the
sentiment that it it feels grim right now, right It
just it does like when you look around, you know,
even if you're like myself, I've chosen to buy into
Aaron Glenn. But I'm not telling you that I'm I'm
bubbling over with optimism, you know what I mean, Like
(01:27:34):
I'm somewhere in the middle, like I'm buying in. I
like a lot of things I've seen, but I'm definitely
not psyched right, And the same thing goes like Garrett Wilson.
We haven't seen him for what feels like all year,
So how well is he gonna come back? Right, Breese Hall,
we were just talking about it. How does he look?
(01:27:54):
Is he even coming back? Like if he goes? We're
looking at Braylon Allen, Isaiah Davis and maybe we draft somebody,
but but yeah, our defense is atrocious, even guys like
Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald. We have two first round
picks on the edges and they're getting zero pressure. We
had two quarterback hits yesterday. Zero sacks, two quarterback hits.
(01:28:18):
That's like one player stats, you know what I mean.
So anyway, it's it's hard to feel optimistic right now.
And I hear what you're saying, like I really do
that said, let's try not to like look, we got
five first round picks, three second round picks, one hundred
(01:28:42):
and twenty million dollars. We just fired a fucking a
bum ass defensive coordinator, you know what I mean? Like,
we we got a d Mitchell who I think is
very very good, you know what I mean as our
wide receiver three, So you know, do we have enough
ammo to really do something? Then our offensive line is
is young and is you know four or five are
(01:29:05):
are definitely coming back. Like there's like we gotta breathe
a little bit because I hear you. I was thinking
about it just last night. I'm like, I don't know, man,
I don't know what. I don't know what's coming. But
it all depends on this draft. I hear what you're
saying about the Raiders, but let's just see where it is. Like,
let me tell you if the jet is it? Dante
(01:29:27):
Moore is like, is there any quarterback that you feel
good about in this class?
Speaker 8 (01:29:32):
Now that we could get Mendoza? But I'm not you know,
it is it worth giving up to first this year?
Which you know you could You could think of it
in another way where it's like, well, I'm using one
of these picks to draft the quarterback anyway, So I'm
giving up one extra first and a second and maybe
a sprinkle of something else somewhere else, you know what
(01:29:54):
I mean? Is it worth it when I could get
you know, because think about it like this, Like if
the Jets have but finished with you know, the fourth
overall pick, and they're able to get an RVL Reese
and of Sony styles, you know what I mean, that
will completely transform the defense. And I feel like that
will have him more a bigger team impact than drafting
(01:30:16):
Mendoza and not having you know, you only got one
other second round pick, you know what I mean. I
don't know, man, It's a double edged sword. I really
don't know. Man.
Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
It's hard to tell Mendoza.
Speaker 8 (01:30:30):
I've watched almost every single one of his games this year,
and he's got like a killer instinct in him to
where when the games on the line, he might not
have been looking pretty throughout the year, throughout the game,
but when the game's on the line, dude, he is
like a knife through butter man and he just makes
it happen. So that's one of those intangibles that I
think you can't teach, you know, Like you look at
(01:30:53):
it Dante more. He's got all the traits and the tools,
and he he's in a program that gets five star
recruits all around them. So I don't know, man, I
like Mendoza, but I'm not.
Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:31:08):
If I only got to give up a second and
then like a second next year to move up and
get them, I'm with it, But I'm not giving up,
you know, and anything more, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:31:20):
I don't know. No, I hear you, man, I hear.
That's the thing with having so many picks. It's like,
on one hand, you feel like, well, I can pay
for anything I'm buying, like that kind of a thing.
At the same time, you don't want to have to
do that, Like would I give three first for a
quarterback that you know? Yes, I would, definite, But there's
no guarantee, Like we're giving up three first or whatever
(01:31:42):
it is for a person they've never played. So we
don't know, man, we don't know. So I hear you, man,
like I really do. I'm not big on the other
quarterbacks either, And I think if you can't get Mendoza,
I'm kind of in the same boat, dude, Like fucking
bolster the team, bolster everything get a wide receiver, get
(01:32:04):
a linebacker, go to the second you know, get a
defensive tackle. Then get you know, get a tight end,
like fix it, fix the team, and then we'll figure
out quarterback. But that sucks to say too, so it's
a we're just gonna have to see how they how
they pull it off. Man. Hey, listen, swamp Ranger. I
love you, brother. I'm so glad that I that you
called and I get to meet you. I'm gonna move
(01:32:25):
on to the next call because then I'm gonna I
gotta I didn't realize it was after one. I gotta
bounce out of here.
Speaker 8 (01:32:30):
But it's eight o'clock in the morning here, so I
just dropped the kids off of school breakfast.
Speaker 1 (01:32:35):
Man, all right, awesome, Hey dude, enjoy the day. Thanks
for calling in. Yeah, you got it bro. All right,
there he goes the great swamp Ranger. Now let's do
this for our final call of the day. Let's bring
on the one and only Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame inductee, the one and only Q Tip. What's up man? Haha?
(01:33:00):
You want happy birthday?
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
Can you hear me? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:33:03):
I can hear you. You're good. Happy?
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
First of all, happy birthday to you, my brother. May
God seek you to bless you and your family. I
hope you're having the best of seasons. You know, my
mom just turned ninety years old on December ninth, so
I'm surrounded by.
Speaker 1 (01:33:21):
Yeah, there you go. Hey man, Happy birthday to mom.
That's amazing ninety years old, you said, Yes, that's incredible. Man,
Happy birthday to mom. How you doing, I got you?
Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
So, can you hear me?
Speaker 1 (01:33:40):
Yeah, I can hear you now, Okay, good, good, good? Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
So I just want to tell everybody out there that
I couldn't have had a better partner going to Jet's
camp back in the days when we had a quarterback
named Mayaron Rodgers than here.
Speaker 5 (01:33:59):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
You know, we sucked it up, sat out there and
here We're gonna do that again, bro.
Speaker 1 (01:34:03):
Yeah we should go back this year. We'll see who
our quarterback is. I'm game. You want to go back
this year?
Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
Yeah, let's do it for sure. Now everybody heard us,
their witness to it.
Speaker 1 (01:34:14):
But yeah, what a day man.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
I you know, I know you gotta go get all
the birthday love out there, man, But uh, I would
be remissed. I'm on kid, taking a long drive to
go buy some equipment and I usually you know, scour
and I saw the news and.
Speaker 1 (01:34:31):
Holy shit, So yeah, what do you think?
Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
Well, it needed to be done right, and I'm glad
that he's decisive, you know, for nothing else. If we
could say, if we can't say anything good about Aaron
Aaron Glenn, one thing we can say is he don't
give a fuck. He doesn't give a fuck, and I
(01:34:57):
like that. We're New Yorkers. We like people to not
give a fuck sometimes when things need to be done,
they need to be done. This guy is putting up
a horrific defense. It's kind of antiquated when you see him.
Speaker 1 (01:35:10):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Granted, we have a lot of you know, leftovers from
the Joe Douglass solid plate, right, so these guys, you know,
they look at this kind of defense. It was more
complicated than it needed to be. Says Quincy. Williams said
from you know, so there's something to be said for that.
And I think that Glenn is playing it right. He's
(01:35:34):
feeling a lot of you know, people are easily going
to you know, shoot the arrows at the head coach.
But I'm not mad. I'm not mad at his decisions
from getting rid of our fumble, FuMB fumble. Layah, you know,
the first game of the season, getting rid of him,
(01:35:55):
you know, benching guys and then coming back playing better
than now getting rid of Wilkes.
Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
Yeah, it takes stones, It does, man, you know, it
really does. And I like what you said, Like one
thing we can say about Aaron Glenn like he's gonna
make his mistakes, he's learning on the job, which is
what we say. Look, you don't want somebody that's learning
on the job. Stop fucking hiring rookie head coaches. Right,
So he's learning on the job and all that he's
(01:36:22):
making his mistakes, he's banging his head. But one thing
that he is, he's decisive and he's gonna make a
decision and he's gonna do it. And with this, I
think getting the last three games without Wilkes, just so
we can take a look, just so we can take
a look at some of these guys. Let's see if
we can't get these guys moving around simplified a little bit,
(01:36:44):
and let's see how they look going into the offseason.
You know what I mean exactly?
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
You know, I hey, you know I heard you know
the Joe Beningos having a fucking aneurysm every time he
fucking lose a game.
Speaker 8 (01:36:59):
God, Oh, this guy is fucking as far as fucking ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (01:37:05):
We're gonna write we got to really get rid of
this guy.
Speaker 2 (01:37:07):
I mean, and we love Joe, you know, but it's like,
you know, he had to do an evaluation from the
first day he fucking came.
Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
Into this fucking program.
Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
Okay, so he's looking at all the guys, he's seeing
what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:37:24):
When he gets up.
Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
You have to kind of be positive, you know, you
have to be you know, affirmative.
Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
Of some things.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
When you're starting out in training camp and you're starting
to assess and you get to the podium and they say, well,
what do you think? And they say, we're gonna fucking
fight and we're gonna fucking win. What do you want
him to say? These fucking guys suck. These kids need
to go frosting off themselves. They I've inherited a shit
fucking team. Oh boy, you guys better fucking get ready
(01:37:53):
for this one. What's the matter with flint Stone?
Speaker 1 (01:37:56):
He's all right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
He's gonna have to put some fucking sugar.
Speaker 1 (01:38:03):
On it, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:38:05):
Yeah, I mean and now and now the truth is
out there. You know, we see we look at the
team and you know, you gotta you gotta move. Uh,
you gotta move Quinn in which we we all hated
because he's a great jet. We gotta move sauce, you
know what, you hate it because he was just a great,
you know, effusive personality and it's extremely talented. You don't
get six or four cornerbacks with that kind of speed.
(01:38:28):
A little handsy, but it didn't fit into the philosophy
and what fucking Salah was putting down with some weak,
fucking pseudo navy seal bullshit. You know, they're taking their vitamins,
they're eating ride.
Speaker 1 (01:38:43):
We're gonna make sure we're attacked the weight room. We're
gonna attack the sleep, We're gonna attack the diet. What
about fucking attacking the fucking field. Right, No, I'm with you, man,
you're good.
Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
But but but but am I but am I offer
am I?
Speaker 4 (01:38:59):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
So, you know, it's the personality and it's the culture that.
Speaker 1 (01:39:05):
Salah left behind.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
And this guy comes in he has to play cleanup
and he's like, oh my god, look at this ship.
Speaker 1 (01:39:12):
Right, and you're not seeing him go out there and
throw stones at anybody. He's taking everything himself. And this
is what I like about him. Again, I don't like
all the decisions he's making. I you know, in the game,
I see the same stuff everybody. We're all watching the
same game. We know it's frustrating. And but one thing
he's not doing. He's not getting in front of the
(01:39:35):
in front of the mic like we saw a lot
of people do. And Iron Rodgers comes to mind and
throw and and throw people under the bus, just like
yesterday with Wilkes. Like people are saying, well, you know,
you know, is this a woody decision today? Because Aaron
Glenn was defending him yesterday. I don't see it. I
think that, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Think got a fucking what the fuck you think he's
gonna do? Come out and fucking say it right in
the mic, right in front of you know, he's gonna
go in the fucking locker room and shoot him a
fucking new asshole, you know what I mean, Pauls. But
you know he's gonna get out there on the podium
and he's gonna fucking say what say whatever it is
to keep it, you know, to keep a tenor. That's
(01:40:15):
kind of calm, so he could raise Holy hell in
his fucking locker room, you know what I mean, Yeah,
fucking do that. Otherwise you're not gonna get people that's
gonna want to come there and right right, because.
Speaker 1 (01:40:28):
He's and that's the whole thing. And like and I honestly,
I look, we would all love a press conference that's
exciting and has a whole bunch of clips in it
and ship. But the truth is is I would rather
him be that way. I want him to to be,
you know, kind of measured when when he when he
when he goes in front of the press, I don't
(01:40:48):
want him to be spouting off and saying a bunch
of shit that he has to apologize for or go
back on later. He just goes out and he says, look,
I brought Steve Wilkes here for a reason. I respect him.
He's a good he's a good man, he's a good coach.
Yet all the right things. Then he went home, looked
at the game and said, oh my god, this guy's
gotta fucking go. And then he right, but he's but
(01:41:11):
he's not gonna do that exactly, man. So but he's
not gonna do that in front of everybody, And I
actually think that's the better way to go. And just
like you said, who's gonna want to come here? If
while we suck Aaron Glenn is throwing everybody under the bus,
you know what I mean? Like, why would you sign
a agent contract here? If if if you know, as
(01:41:33):
soon as I have a bad day or whatever, Aaron
Glenn's gonna be throwing me under the bus in front
of the world.
Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
It's called loyalty, right, so, and you gotta fuck it,
exercise a.
Speaker 1 (01:41:45):
Degree of it to to to.
Speaker 2 (01:41:47):
To some extent, right and he's gonna he's gonna give
you the formality of loyalty, meaning when he's talking about
you in the press and you're a part of the team,
and we're part of the team. But when we get
behind and closed doors, you know, it's like if you
gotta girl, your wife or whatever, you go over somebody's
house and the food isn't particularly good or some ship,
(01:42:09):
and you know, your lady goes ah, you know, this
could have been.
Speaker 1 (01:42:14):
A little bit better.
Speaker 2 (01:42:16):
And then and then you you know, you say, Okay,
nice evening, see you guys later. You get in the
fucking car, you say, hey, what was that?
Speaker 1 (01:42:24):
Yeah, right, but you don't do that in front of everybody.
You say, this is great, this is great, I love it,
it's beautiful. Later you talk about it exactly. That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:36):
And what do you I know you gotta go. But
what about these these quarterbacks? And what are we doing
with the draft?
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (01:42:42):
I don't know, Well, I want to keep that pill.
I'm gonna do.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
You See, I don't know if you guys have been
watching the games, but I mean, our secondary is it's
pretty shitty.
Speaker 1 (01:42:54):
I don't know if you.
Speaker 2 (01:42:56):
Yeah, I mean we're pretty small, and you know I
think we need to uh retool the retooling.
Speaker 1 (01:43:07):
Yeah, oh, I think so, I think. But the one thing,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:43:11):
Think we need a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:43:13):
Yeah, I was just gonna say that we don't need see,
like we look, you and I were talking about this
the other day. We're nuts, right, like, we know we
need a quarterback. But then there's you, like you look
at some of these players, Reese and and you know
the I forget his name, the safety that we like,
I just his name is escaping me. But like all that,
(01:43:34):
we gotta be careful not to be sucked into the
idea of using all of our premium assets on the defense,
even though we need it, even though we help do
we gotta have. It's all about ourfense, man, we have
to finally do that. Like, we can't get sucked Caleb downs.
(01:43:54):
That's why I was thinking, right, can't do it, man,
We can't. We can't. I'll say that.
Speaker 2 (01:44:01):
We should use premium picks. If they're not blue chippers.
They have to be consistent captains to every phase of ball.
They have to be that kind of They either have
to have that kind of maturation, that kind of leadership
or that you know, and you just get one or
two of them and you fill out the rest with
(01:44:24):
the best scouting that you can do, with the best
deals that you can get in in the later rounds
for the next two years.
Speaker 1 (01:44:31):
But I don't. I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
If there is a if there's look that fucking lineback
of Sunny Styles is I mean, everybody's talking about he's amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:44:40):
But the guy you turned me onto. Yeah, what's that Lander?
What the fuck is his name? All right? Just it's
just got Mike Feeling fried Lander, Barren some ship like that, Yeah,
Barn from Utah.
Speaker 2 (01:44:58):
Yeah, look him, bro, listen, he used to be a
running back. Every guy you fucking find winds up fucking
being something.
Speaker 1 (01:45:09):
Bro. This linebacker.
Speaker 2 (01:45:10):
If you guys haven't seen him, it's a green being special,
go on and check him out. We're fucking up his name.
But I think we got the school right, Yeah, yeah,
we got the school right.
Speaker 1 (01:45:22):
I gotta I gotta go get it. I gotta figure
I gotta just yeah, I'm like, I just you know
it's I I gotta. I gotta fill it out with
people like that. Right, He's gonna be gotta do it.
He's gonna be there in the fourth of the fifth round.
Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
If you get one like a p in a in
a more of a premium top fifty. Okay, if he
happens to be there and you're not, you know, gouging yourself,
then find do it. But if you want to fill
it out things like that, you know, some prospects, some
true prospecting going on, you know what, I mean to
fill out the rest of it.
Speaker 1 (01:45:53):
But I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
I don't think that we should use it all, nor
do I think we should cash in everything for you know,
I mean, within reason to move up. I personally don't
like moving up. I like moving back. You know what,
I'm saying QB, but you know the QB. I mean,
if you think about it, Look, I mean getting a
(01:46:18):
first round QB for a first pick, it doesn't necessarily
guarantee a super Bowl. It can guarantee stability, though, look
at Dann Marino never won a Super Bowl. Dan Fouts
never won a Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson hasn't up to
(01:46:39):
this point, Josh Allen haven't up to this point, you
know what I mean. So we could go down the
list of quarterbacks that were first rounders that bring stability,
but they don't always guarantee super Bowl. And I think
that we as Jets fans need to be you know,
underneath that that that that understanding that we just want consistency.
(01:47:01):
We want to be able to be there year in,
year out. You know, if you look at Philadelphia since
they had Ron Jawarski in the eighties, each decade they
were they're competing. They were humping around man. You have
Randall Cunningham, he had Nicknaby, right, I mean, always right man,
(01:47:23):
always fucking around it. That's who we want to be,
always fucking around it. Let's go to the dance a
couple of times and get there. Maybe snag one of these,
But I don't want to be desperate and just fucking say,
oh god, just fucking losing socks, aren't glad to moved?
Has to give out all the fucking picks up for Menduza, right,
(01:47:43):
and we get them and the team is not all
the wady filled up, then guess what we're gonna do
next year? This time fucking mendulzare fucking socks.
Speaker 1 (01:47:50):
He's a boxing right. Oh man, it's so true, Like yeah,
like look, look it's like just like you said, I'm
willing to pay, I'm willing to go get the guy,
but I hate moving up too. I'm a trade back
kind of guy. You and me both on that one.
But the thing is, just because you get him, it
doesn't mean you're a six. We saw it with Sam,
(01:48:12):
we saw it with Zach. Just because you're there and
you take the guy doesn't mean that he's guaranteed to
be a success. So you have to be measured. Man,
you got There's only so much. There's only so much
I'm willing to pay for a guy who's never played
an NFL snap. Now, it could be expensive, but again,
there's a cap. There's a cap on that ship. I'm
(01:48:33):
not giving up four, you know, three, maybe I don't
even I don't think i'd give up three. I'm telling
you two firsts, and I don't think. I don't think that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Look, these guys are fucking fire in their bros man
differucking bench dudes and cutting dudes. Muji has proven himself.
Speaker 1 (01:48:50):
So far to be pretty shrewd, and I.
Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
Don't think he's gonna fucking I don't think he's gonna
give it all up like that. He he just seems
to have the temperament and the demeanor that he's going
to be shrewd and assessing what he has to do.
I think they really see what this is. They see
what the team is, they see what the culture is here,
and you know, they got to change. They're changing the
(01:49:15):
identity one which is which is which is major? And
now they got to fill it out through the draft.
And I kind of I'm with you, man, I don't
think that these guys are gonna just give it all up.
Speaker 1 (01:49:26):
And do a fool's gold move, you know, right? Yeah No,
And like you said, I think Mougie's proven, at least
up to this point, that he's not a schlep, you know,
what I mean, he's he's pretty shrewd man. He's made
some real good moves, real nice way that he did
these trades, getting a d Mitchell thrown in on the
(01:49:46):
sauce trade, getting you know, with Quinn Williams, who had
an interception yesterday, for God's sakes, you know, getting that
language in that trade that says it doesn't matter which
pick you know, Dallas or eBay next year, whatever pick
is highest, that's the one we want, dude. That's beautiful ship.
So he's shown that he might have some chops this
(01:50:09):
this new GM of ours. So I don't think he's
gonna I don't think he's gonna sell the farm, uh
for a quarterback. I mean he'll he'll pay, But I
don't think we're gonna be looking at like a Mike
mccagnet thing where we get raked over the coals and
bent over, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
And I think the philosophy that all of these guys
kind of come from, you know, they all come from
that kind of old school kind of Parcelian know Belichick,
even though we hate Belichick, you know, they all kind
of come from the same tree, Glenn, and you know,
uh uh uh uh, Sean and and and you know
(01:50:49):
all those guys moves, you know, they all come from
that tree of just like no nonsense. We don't give
a fuck who you are, fuck a superstar quarterback. We're
not doing none of that.
Speaker 1 (01:51:00):
Ship.
Speaker 2 (01:51:01):
It's team first. It's kind of hard nose, you know
what I'm saying, which I appreciate.
Speaker 1 (01:51:06):
It ain't pretty, but I I really.
Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
Don't think these guys are gonna geld take an advantage
of it.
Speaker 1 (01:51:12):
No, me neither.
Speaker 3 (01:51:13):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
Yeah, I feel pretty good about it. So we look,
we'll see how it goes. Man. But the guy's name,
Rusty Spooner helped us out Lander Barton is our boys dad.
Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
That's the guy I want to say.
Speaker 1 (01:51:26):
Utah, Yeah, I want to say happy birthday to our
buddy Fresh. It's his birthday too. Fresh is always in
here with us.
Speaker 2 (01:51:35):
Fresh.
Speaker 1 (01:51:36):
Yeah, there you go, Fresh, Happy birthday from green Bean
and Q tip Man. So I hope you have a
great day there you go. Enjoy your birthday, my friend,
Enjoy your birthday.
Speaker 2 (01:51:45):
What you're gonna do for your birthday?
Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
Oh man, you know what we're doing. There's like a
it's freezing here, man, but we're gonna do it. There's
like a big light show at UVA, like by where
my wife works, So we're gonna go. It's like an
outdoor light show thing that they're doing. So we're gonna
go see that. Nice. Yeah, it's gonna be cool. We're
gonna get all bundled up and go outside and with
(01:52:07):
the wife and kids. I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (01:52:09):
Get some little cider. You know you a whole holiday
thing and all. You're not a cider fan?
Speaker 1 (01:52:15):
Oh yeah, man, warm cider. Yeah, I love it. You know.
My wife got me. My wife got me an hour
session in a sensory deprivation tank. You know those tanks float? Yeah? Yeah,
hell yeah yeah, And that sounds cool.
Speaker 4 (01:52:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:52:31):
I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
It's fucking great. And have you done it a fucking baby?
Hell yeah, I did that ship. You sleep like a
baby that ship. Bro, those shi It's an amazing, amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:52:43):
I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
Yeah, I feel feeling good about everything.
Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
I just want to jump out.
Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:52:47):
You know, I'm a big fan. Love all you guys
out there in the chat. You know what I'm saying, Like, Hey,
one thing about us. We're fucking loyal, bro. We do
this ship.
Speaker 1 (01:52:58):
Look at us, man, we do all what is bullshit.
Speaker 2 (01:53:01):
Yeah, we're a little off, little fucking nuts. I hope
we all know that I've come to grips. I think
Beat and I both come to grips that we're a
little bit fucking nuts.
Speaker 1 (01:53:10):
But hey, we'll loyal as fuck.
Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
We ain't taking no shit. And I'm wishing everybody out
there happy holidays. Everybody out there, please be safe, hug
your family and you know, green Bean, happy birthday. Man.
Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
Enjoying you. Yeah, yeah, thank you so much, man, and
I appreciate you calling in. It's nice to hear from you.
This is cool, man, And you know you're welcome anytime.
You're the best.
Speaker 2 (01:53:35):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (01:53:36):
Well, look, I love you, man, and thank you for
the birthday wishes. Hey, be safe on the rest of
your long drive. All right, man, thank you Pop. All right,
I'll see you later. There he goes everybody. The legendary
Q tip from Tribe called quest if you were wondering.
I don't think you're wondering, but what a cool call
for my birthday. That was awesome. Our buggy, our buddy
(01:54:00):
Boogie checking in one of my absolute faves. I love
e Boogie. Get to spend time with him in the
Beanbagger Wednesday nights that we hang out. That'll be this
week we're hanging out. We do it every other week,
so this week we're hanging out. Get to get to
spend time with e Boogie. So thank you so much,
my friend. I appreciate the the birthday wishes and I
(01:54:20):
appreciate I just appreciate you being here. Happy birthday to
Fresh and and and everybody else. Guys, I'm gonna wrap
it up for this episode, a two hour, just about
two hour episode of Green Beans Jets Pod. So I
thank you all for hanging out with me. This was
(01:54:41):
super cool. I'm glad we got some calls in. Got
to meet swamp Ranger as well. That was awesome. Oh
this is so cool. But you guys are the best.
We fired Steve Wilkes there, it is. Everybody. We did it.
People were concerned on whether or not we were gonna
do it, if Aaron Glenn had the ball to do it.
But as we know, we've already talked about this a
(01:55:04):
whole bunch of times. One question we don't have to
ask ourselves is about Aaron Glenn and his balls. Text
bulls that texts ball. Glenn's got ball here it is
