For 25 år siden kæmpede den – nu – verdenskendte danske DNA-forsker og professor ved Københavns Universitets Center for Geogenetik, Eske Willerslev, hårdt for sine idéer om, at ældgammelt DNA kan findes overalt i naturen. Dengang anede han ikke, at han støbte det videnskabelige fundament til en helt ny forskningsgren, der kan beskrive en verden, vi ikke kendte før.
