Her memoir, My Dirty Life in Comedy, recounts her early days in Hollywood as an up and coming comedian playing it straight as a gay woman on stage, writing for the TV shows Roseanne and Grace Under Fire with Brett Butler as well as her relationship with the legendary Mitzi Shore of the Comedy Store, and how Lois and her gay husband became legal guardians of Mitzi’s two sons.
