Speaker 1 (00:23):
Hey canagraph here with a special request for you to
stand with the ministry of the Christian Research Institute prayerfully
and financially. So often I have quoted the Book of
Proverbs during the duration of my ministry. One of my
(00:43):
favorite quotes in the Book of Proverbs comes from Proverbs
chapter nine. The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
If wisdom is so important in the life of a Christian,
(01:08):
why is it that so many of us fail to
develop disciplines that lead us to live lives of wisdom. Practically,
every single principle for successful daily living is provided to
us in the Book of Proverbs. The Book of Proverbs
(01:32):
is God's detailed instructions, detailed instructions for people to deal
wisely in the practical affairs of everyday life. As such,
if you are not doing so already, I want to,
right now, right here, encourage you to begin reading a
(01:56):
chapter of Proverbs every single day, every single day for
the rest of your life. Why because I promise you
it will change your life. And that's because wisdom is
better than jewels, and all desirable things cannot compare with
(02:22):
her that's another quotation from the Book of Proverbs. In fact,
on a recent episode of the Hankum Plugged podcast, I
had the opportunity to discuss wisdom with a friend who
shares my passion, shares my love for the Book of Proverbs,
(02:42):
so much so that he wrote a book called The
Little Read Book of Wisdom. I love this little book.
The author has been a friend for over forty years.
His name is Mark DeMoss. He in this book shares
lessons learned from victy and failure, from success and from adversity,
(03:06):
and from observing wise people from all walks of life.
You know, he in particular shares wisdom from his father.
Mark's father was supremely successful. He was successful in both
(03:26):
life and truth. He was the founder of the National
Liberty Corporation, and his founder he fervently believed in the
wisdom of verse. When I talk about first what am
I talking about? I'm talking about the first hour of
the day. Arthur DeMoss believed in the wisdom of devoting
(03:49):
the first hour of the day to the Lord. This
would become for him, and he prayed for others a
time to talk to the Lord in prayer, to listen
to his voice in scripture to talk to the Lord
(04:10):
in prayer, because this is to experience union with God
like a branch united to the vine. To listen to
his voice well, to listen to his voice through scripture
is tantamount to partaking of the bread of life. Arthur
(04:32):
DeMoss also believed in the first day of the Week,
the day in which believers are transformed, transformed from human
multiplicity to one body in Christ, for it is within
the Church that members the Body of Christ, partake of
(04:53):
the sacraments and experience life in the fellowship of the
Holy Trinity. That is life, that is life. Indeed, and
then he believed in the first dime of every dollar.
He understood the wisdom imbued in Proverbs three, which tells
(05:15):
us to honor the Lord from your wealth and from
the first of all your produce, so your barns will
be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with
new wine. Arthur DeMoss Mark Demos's father did not live
a long life. In fact, he died in the prime
of his life. I think it was at age fifty three,
(05:36):
and after his death his wife found a note, a
note still fresh on his nightstand, a note that sums
up the art of wisdom. So teach us Lord, to
number our days, that we may present to you a
(06:00):
heart of wisdom. I was just reading to day in
the Book of Proverbs, the brilliance, the brilliance of understanding
that our days are numbered. Know well the condition of
(06:22):
your flocks, and pay attention to your herds, For riches
are not forever, nor does a crown endure to all generations.
As the grass disappears, new growth is seen, and the
herbs of the mountains are gathered in. Life is a
vapor here to day, gone tomorrow. So like Arthur de Moss,
(06:47):
every one of us should remember that we will die,
that the death rate is one per person, and that
we're all going to make it. Solomon, the author the
Book of Proverbs, died, and so will you, so will I. However,
(07:08):
the author behind the author I'm talking about, the very
personification of wisdom, is very much alive. He is Christ.
He is the author and the perfector of our faith.
And therefore, to daily partake of the Proverbs is to
(07:30):
daily partake of the wisdom of Christ, the Christ who
warns us that the waywardness of the naive shall kill them,
and the complacency of fools shall destroy them. But he
who listens to me will live securely and will be
(07:52):
free from the dread of evil. The Book of Proverbs
serves as a prologue to Christ's famed Sermon on the
Mount of Beatitudes, a sermon in which Christ exhorts you,
in which He exhorts me to store for self's treasures
(08:14):
in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and
where thieves do not break it and steel. Why because,
as Jesus put it, where your treasure is there, your
heart will be also in some It is my prayer
that God will motivate you to get into the word
(08:36):
of God and get the word of God into you.
Why because it's nothing short of transformational. If you are
already disciplined in reading God's word, will adding a chapter
of Proverbs a day will serve as a further blessing.
(08:59):
But if not, it's a very great place to begin.
And I would say begin with the chapter of Proverbs
corresponding to the day of the month that you hear
these words, for what begins as a discipline will most
(09:20):
surely become your delight. I have experienced it for years
and years, and I experience it daily, just as I
did this morning. And by the way, for your willingness
to stand shoulder to shoulder with me and the rest
(09:42):
of the Christian Research Institute in the battle for life
and truth, I would like to send you a copy
of the book I just talked about, the Little Read
Book of Wisdom by Mark DeMoss. So when you stand
with this ministry, the ministry of the Christian Research Institute,
a bibilance men broadcast, a hand come plug podcast, and
(10:03):
much much more our missionary work around the world, I'd
be happy to send you a copy of this book.
Please stand with this prayerfully and financially, and often say
that prayer is firing the winning shots. So pray for
us as we pray for you. Every morning as I pray,
(10:24):
I have a habit of praying for a particular period
of time in the morning, and then memorizing for a
particular time in the morning. It's all after I've read
from the Book of Proverbs. I always read Proverbs. I
read other wisdom literature found in the Subtuagint. I also
read from books in the New Testament. Right now I'm
(10:45):
in the Book of Acts, but get into the Word
of God and get the word of God into you.
And please stand with the Ministry of the Christian Research
Institute prayerfully and financially. It will make a difference to
people that you'll only know from the perspective of each
other entity. Thanks so much for tuning in so on
for now,
