Speaker 1 (00:00):
On your Mark, get ready start.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Broadcasting from California and Delaware. This is the Hard Rocking
Trivia Show and here your host Mark and Danny.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
All Right, boys and girls, it's time for the Hard
Rocking Trivia Show live and not in person, but on
Microsoft teams.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yay, because Skype Skype decided to bite the big one.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Yeah, we used Skype for forever and now that it
doesn't work anymore, we're trying you with teams. So if
it sounds crappy, it's because of Microsoft Teams or my
network is not doing too well. But if it does
sound like crap, we might try to find another service.
I don't know, but this is the first time on team,
so don't shoot us.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Please let's see how we do.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah. On another note, somebody on of all places YouTube
commented on our one of our videos and he was
a big fan out of Texas. So we're always kind
of humbled when somebody you know responds to one of
our shows and he says, yeah, I love your show.
He wanted to know if we could put out some
of the older episodes because they're not on any of
(01:38):
the pat Plump the platforms. So yeah, that's what we're
gonna do, We're gonna try to do. We're gonna do
one show like this one now and maybe next week
I'll throw an old show and just go back and
forth and see how it does. And if people like it,
I'll keep it up. If not, we won't. So we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I'm sure we'll found very young.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, well hopefully all right, hopefully we sound okay now
because we have no idea how it's going to turn out.
So what we're gonna do right now is we're going
to go into Danny's bit that he came up with.
Let's do some six and thirty, for it is a
human number. It's number is six.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
So here we go with some six and thirty where
we play six five second bits to total thirty seconds,
and you got to come up with the artists. And
sometimes it's not enough time, but we'll see how we do.
And usually, well, these always have a theme going to them.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
So this time the.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Theme for mine that I've sent Mark is they are
all candy related, all right, So so candy could be
in the title of the song, candy could be referenced
in the song, or it could just be about candy.
So go ahead and take a listen and see what
you think.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
All right, So you people out there, get a piece
of paper, play along with us. Well, hopefully I don't
crap the bed. Here we go?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Did you.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
You did not make this one easy, did you?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
No? But you know every one of these bands very well? Yes,
except for me? Except for me? If you one?
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, because I'm hurting. I think I got two guesses
and six and four I don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
All right, Well you know all of these bands. These
I didn't pull anything out of my butt.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Okay, well that's a butt references.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
All right.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
We gotta stop, we gotta stop. This a family show.
All right, Let's play this again. See if I can
do better than But I don't think it's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
One you.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Wow, I'm gonna suck at this one, all right, Candy
six and thirty. The first one I think is the Beatles.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
That is correct.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
It's a George Harrison song making fun of Eric Clapton's
Sweet Tooth.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, because I'd never heard that song in my life before.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
So Savoyd Truffle, Oh my gosh. Yeah, it's a part
of the lyrics. Are you're gonna have them all? You're
going to have them all? Pulled out after the Savoy Truffle.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
What album about? What album? That's the White album?
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Wow, I have I haven't listened to White Album thirty years.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
So yeah, well there you go.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
State number two. Not a freaking clue in the world.
And you say, I know, okay, I'm gonna guess. I'm
sure I'm not gonna get it cheap trick.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
No, that is incorrect. This is one of your favorite
bands of all time though they're not uh, they're not huged.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
They should have been way way bigger God.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
New England.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yes, that is correct.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
It is what song?
Speaker 2 (06:14):
A song called Candy off a Walking Wild God.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
And that's one of the three main albums from New England.
That's the least. I don't listen to a lot of
songs on Walking Wild So yeh, God, you bastard.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Wow with your own band, that's amazing. I love it.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I love In fact, there's a show on YouTube it's
called Grant's Warehouse and what he's been doing. He's been
finding these super obscure bands and he plays two full
songs from him and says have you heard of this band?
And one of the episodes he put out was New England.
He played two New England songs. I mean he's putting
(06:55):
out stuff that's on Rock Candy records and stuff that
that we would be into. But even and I think
I know a lot about obscure bands, he's throwing stuff
at me like, I have never heard of that band
in my life. Wow. He played Yeah, we played Speedway
Boulevard today. But if you look on that particular show,
(07:16):
and the show is only these YouTube mini shows, they're
only like fifteen minutes long. So he introduces the band
and he plays you two songs. He played Speedway Boulevard today,
and I know they had one album out and I
think Rock Candy released it. But it was like, wow,
who is that? Yeah, I don't know that at all,
(07:37):
So maybe I'll yeah, there's a lot of them I
don't know, so maybe I'll send you the link to
that one. And it's cool to listen to and they
discover something you've never heard of it. He played Somebody
called Storm the other day. They had a two albums
and early eighties. They sound like a combination of a
lot of different bands, sex Pistols, Queen tenn CC with
(07:58):
a female lead.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Singer, bizarre Okay, but wow.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
So yeah, I mean, it's fascinating. I'm I'm learning about
all these cool bands. So that doesn't take away from
the fact that I missed that one. New England one
of my favorite all time bands. All right, Number three again,
not a clue. I'm gonna guess Black Oak Arkansas.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
No, this is a band you sent me and I've
listened to a couple of times. They're pretty cool band
called Suicide Bombers.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah, and that album was called All for the Candies.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
So I sent you that album, but I've never listened
to it.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
So I listened to it like twice and I thought, oh,
that's not too not bad at all.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
So okay, well maybe I need to revisit that. So
oh I'm one for three.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
All right.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Number four I think is the Scorpions.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
No, that is incorrect, damn it another new wave of
British heavy.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Metal band Sweet Savage.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Nope, No, this was Tigers Pantang.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Really on what album? Probably the ones I've never heard.
Oh and there's quite a few Pan Tang albums that
I've never heard.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah, I can't remember the name of the album.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Is one of the newer ones or one of the
old ones?
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Uh, it's it's not one of the oldest ones that
we were into, like like The Cage or anything like that,
is a little bit later than that.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Yeah, that's why I've never one's where I've probably never
listened to. Okay, yeah, anything after the wreck Age on
up until a couple of years ago, because their last
two or three have been really good, but anything in
between there, I couldn't tell.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
You what song yep, that was one of them. Oh.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
In fact, speaking of the Tigers of Pantang, apparently because
I follow them on social media, they've been posting about
Gary Moore because on one of the TV shows they did
in England, Gary Moore came out and played with them,
and he's really and they're one of their gear exam.
Gary lent their equipment to Tigers of Pantanks so they
could help record one of their albums. So he was
(10:06):
friends with those guys. Okay, Gary Moore gets around huh.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
So what was he friends with? John Sykes?
Speaker 1 (10:12):
I think I think he because Rob Weir is the
guy who posted the picture of him and Gary is
when Gary had his super short hair in those Chief
Fource days. So maybe they were buddies maybe. So Okay,
all right, So one for four now, okay, one for four.
Number five I think is a C d C.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
That is correct, God, that one.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
The song though, a song called Sweet Candy. It was
from Rock or Bust.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Okay, yeah, the later albums I listened to a couple
of times and that was pretty much it, all right.
Number six I don't know either. I'm gonna this is
a big guess. Ryan Adams, No, okay, no, not not
even closes.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
No, it's a song called Candy Bar. That is Disneyland
after Dark.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Really, babe, yep band. I would love to go see.
They're playing the Monsters of Rock Crewise in twenty six
April twenty six. I keep looking at those prices though,
one of there. Oh it's expensive, because I should I
it's only five days and you're spending like four to
five grand. I'm like, I don't know if I can
(11:30):
do that.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, that's a lot, I know. But then the Florida.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah, I mean it would be cool to do, but
it's a lot of money. I don't know about you,
but I'm not a millionaire.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
So uh well, I don't want to spend that kind
of money.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
I don't either, Yeah, I don't have a million in
the bank, so ay, if I did, I would definitely
do it. But then again, I look at this the
Monsters in the Mountain concerts they do and Atlinburg, Tennessee,
and I could see myself doing that much much more affordable.
Those are like two hundred and three hundred bucks, and
(12:09):
uh it's three days of shows in a pretty cool
town near Dollywood. I could see doing something like that.
That's definitely and they could bring the wife. That's much
more affordable.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
So oh yeah, maybe we pucks.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
You could get a nice hotel and spend way less
than five grand.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Yeah, so maybe we should look into whoever's playing that
one when that's and maybe we can meet there and
the wives can go goof off and we can go
to shows. So yeah, that's all right, It's an idea. Okay.
So I was terrible two for six, two for six,
which I think you're going to do much better than
I did.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Mine through a New England in There.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
For You and and that's one song I never listened to,
So okay, mine is pretty cool. I think, especially mine is.
These are all these are all bands that covered We
Will Rock You, all bands that covered or solo artists
that covered, we will rock you. Some of them are
(13:11):
gonna be obvious and some aren't. All of them are
you're gonna know for sure. But the first one is
gonna blow your mind when you play this, because I
was shocked.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
So you think i'll know who that is?
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I don't think you will, but you'll Some of the
other ones you'll know. And all the artists, all the
artists you know, it's nobody obscure.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Okay, well, let's let's give it a listen.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
Big noise playing in the street, gonna be a big
man someday.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
You big discast, your fast, you big discus waiting y'all
ball over the way.
Speaker 6 (14:05):
Well, well, oh, interesting, I haven't I have a guess
for that first one, but I don't know if it's
right or not.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Yeah, So when your wife listens to this back tomorrow,
I want her to listen very close and see if
she can get it, because it's somebody she knows. She knows,
she knows that first voice. So go ahead, play it again.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Let's listen to one more time.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Do you pig noise playing in the street Gonna be
a big man some day?
Speaker 5 (14:38):
But you fast, you big dislace kicking y'all can over the.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Singing we.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
N we got blood on your face, you big distus waiting,
y'all ball over?
Speaker 7 (14:59):
Wait yeah, wow hmm, okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
My first guess for the female at the beginning is.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
That Ariana Grande incorrect. This woman had a hit she's
still alive in the late sixties. It's part of a band.
And then she became a very successful solo artist in
the seventies mostly and she had some success in the
eighties hit but mostly she's known for being super hot
(15:41):
in the seventies.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Well, definitely not Ariana Grande.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
She wasn't born correct. She played lots of different styles
of music too.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
She was a solo artist, solo.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Artist, super hot, and said Linda Ronstadt correct, whoa, Okay, wow.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Yeah, that did not sound like her than me, And
I went, whoa, And I played it for Sylvia and
she did. She didn't get in the first couple of tries,
but she got in the third trie like I had
no idea, Linda Rst that covered that.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
That didn't sound like her at all.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
No, it doesn't, but it is her. I got I
pulled it off of Amazon, and I researched im oh
my god, I can't believe she recorded is in it? It
really doesn't sound too much like her, but she doesn't.
Some kind of covers album she had later in her
career whatever, over.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
One, over one. The next one I think is that
La Guns.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
That would be correct, Yes, kind of tell by the
vocals on that one.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Yeah, that was kind of easy.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
The next one, I don't know a lot of keyboards,
so I'm gonna guess is that Juphreya?
Speaker 1 (16:52):
It is not. It's a newer band came out about
five six years ago that we both.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Kind of like, is it rival Sons?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Nope? And they're playing a festival in your neighborhood and
the boardwalk, Yeah, they're playing that a newer band.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
I'm gonna guess, Uh, shoot, what's the struts?
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Correct? That's the struts number number number four, number four.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
I'm I'm thinking that's Jenny Lane and Warrant.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
That would be correct.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Number five, number five again with the vocals, I'm gonna
guess as Chad Kroger or Kraiger with nickelback correct.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
And the last one, You're gonna be pissed because I
know this because I've.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Heard this and I like this band a lot, and
you know that that's probably why you put them in.
I'm gonna it's pink Cream sixty.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Nine, correct. I wanted to get you back for all
the Pink Cream sixty nine you've been sitting in my way,
and I figured you might know it. So you got
You got five out of six and absolutely crushed me.
I was so well, you know, no, you got four
out of six. You still crushed me. I was so
proud of find Linda Ron's that one.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
So I'd never heard that at all.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
So when your wife is listening to this tomorrow morning
when she's getting ready for work, see if she gets
that first one and it's dedicated to her, so hopefully
she can get it, because I thought that was awesome.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
All right, yeah, oh, I'm gonna have to go find
that and listen to the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Oh that boardwalk uh was a boardwalk rock thing here.
Alison Chains had to drop out. They dropped out because
their drummer has some kind of medical emergency because Alison
Chains actually took Motley Cruz place and now Alison Changs
had to drop So now Rob Zombie has taking Alex
Alison Change's place.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
So okay, well that's all right, that that might be
worth it. I've never seen him.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah, I heard he's pretty good. So if I don't
know if you're gonna go, but I think it's this month,
isn't it.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah, yeah, it's this weekend.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Oh, so you might.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Go Saturday and Sunday. I would possibly go Saturday. Saturday
is the only day I would go. I wouldn't go
to Sunday. But if you do go, we talked about
that last episode.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Right, if you do go, you have to give us
a review.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
So oh, absolutely, all right.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
So I am very disappointed in my performance there. Congratulations
on your victory. Now let's just jump.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Thought you would get more. I thought you would for
sure get into England. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Remember I am two years older than you. I'm old,
all right. Yeah, it's not an advantage anymore being the
older gay. It's going downhill quick, all right. So let's
jump into another thing. Maybe I can do better. And
rapid fire. All right, boys and girls, we're back. We're
(19:59):
gonna some rapid fire where Danny and I throw three
questions at each other. Be your basic rock trivia and
play along and home sometimes to go and combine. We
go six for six, but most of the time, we're
lucky if we go two for six. Sometimes we feel bad,
we feel bad for each other and throw softball questions
and we knock it out of the park. But lately
(20:20):
we've been making a little tougher, more challenging. It's a
little lot of fun. You get to learn something. We
get to learn something because we don't know everything. But
we still love talking about this kind of music. So, Danny,
are you ready for question one?
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I think so?
Speaker 1 (20:36):
So bringing on all right, you ever heard of Babylon Ad?
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah, they have a song called the Kid Goes Wild
And during the breakdown of this song, a world famous
comedian does a little rant in between and on that
little breakdown in the song. Who was it very famous?
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Oh, what's the guy from New York? God? What is
that guy's name? Oh?
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Oh, are you thinking of Anderwdyce Clay?
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Yeah, yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Incorrect, But a guy who was famous around the same time,
Sam Kinnison.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Oh I should know, of course, he's like the rock comedian.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Yeah. I was a huge fan of Sam. He was awesome,
but suits but he got into the drugs and he's
kind of went downhill and then he gets killed in
a freak accident coming back from I think Laflin or Vegas,
one of those places. All right, way to bring the
show down.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Mark, Okay, good, yeah, way to go. Okay.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Sorry.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Question number one for you, other than Axel and Dizzy Reid,
who is the longest tenured member of Guns n' Roses.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Either gotta be It's either Dough or Slash. I'm gonna
say Duff.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
No, incorrect, You're incorrect with both of those. Really, Richard Fordas.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Richard Fordas has been in the band since two thousand
and two, twenty three.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Years, longer longer than all together.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Slash has been in twenty years, and Duff has been
in twenty one because they took the long hiatus in
the middle.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
But yep, Richard Fordas.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
All right, I'm not going to dispute that. Damn It
a little tricky question there, Dan, I.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Know, I figured you'd say either Slash or Duff. That's
why I got there. Their tenures.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Well, so see people out there, Danny just went to
Costa Rica with the wife and some friends, and so
he's refreshed, and so he had all this time to
come up with these great questions.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Thanks Dan, anytime, my pleasure.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
You got it. Question two for you? What musician has
been in both of these bands? Slash featuring Miles Kennedy
and the Conspirators and Union. What guy's in both those bands?
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Oh, damn it, I'm gonna guess he's the bass player
and I don't remember his name.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Good looking guy though, give him that.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
You probably saw.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
I saw Union at Jackson.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Springfield with me. Yeah, it's freaking awesome. And the bass
player is good looking dude. But they could play the bass.
But I don't remember his name.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
No, that would be incorrect because that dude is not
in Slash's band. Ah, Todd dammit Kerns is in Slash's band.
It's the drummer. Brent Fitz is in Slash's band and Union, jeez,
you're close, all right. And Brent Fitz is also in
(23:52):
uh Duke, which is that Canadian band that does all
Canadian covers and they travel all around Canada with the
with Todd Kerns from Slashes because they're both Canadian dudes.
So they played all right, you go there, you go over.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Two, over two. Let's say if we can get you
go for two.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
It probably happened, all right, here we go with the
name game.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
All right, who is Brian Carroll?
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Brian Carroll? I believe Brian Carroll is Buckethead, that is correct. Ye,
why do I know that?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
I don't know, but you do. So you get one
for one for two.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Weird dude, but musical genius though, but weird.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Oh, the guy's phenomenal guitar player.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Yeah, if you played, I think I'd go see him
just to see the show.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Oh, I totally would.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
All right, Question three for you, this is about Alice Cooper.
And you've seen Alice Coop. You're live, and you're a fan.
I'm a fan. Okay. Are you familiar with the song
the Ballad of Dwight Fry he plays at every show?
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Don't I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
I bet you if you look, probably, but I'm sure
i've heard. It's it's a very long song, and it's
the song where he put he puts the straight jacket
on and the whole thing. So yeah, it's really sick. Yeah,
it's very slow and then it ramps up at the end. Yeah.
The name of that song is the Ballad of Dwight Fry.
(25:34):
Came out in nineteen seventy one. My question for you
is who was Dwight Fry?
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Oh? Shoot, damn.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
He was a a Confederate soldier in the Civil War
who left his family, who was killed, but came back
to life and had a second family.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
But the first family didn't know about it.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
So the second family met and they had a they
started out a whole big feud between the two families.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Wow, is that even close?
Speaker 1 (26:08):
That's a great answer. Not even in the ballpark?
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Ah, dang it, good, try good, try, Okay.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
I didn't know who Dwight Fry was either. He was
an actor and he played bit parts and movies from
nineteen twenty six to nineteen forty three. But you've hurt
and he's a guy you hardly know it. He played
Renfield in the movie Dracula. He was also in Frankenstein
and The Bride of Frankenstein. But he played these bit
(26:40):
little parts, and he was in a bunch of movies,
but lots of times he's uncredited in these movies. And
he ended up dying in nineteen forty three at the
age of forty four while riding a bus in Hollywood.
So obviously he wasn't that doing that well acting. So
for some reason, Al Scooper knew the story of this
(27:01):
guy and wrote a song about it. Okay, it's a
Dwight Fry weird. It's almost as good as your story.
But yeah, he was an actor and famous movies, but
he was dirt poor and he never made it and
he died on a bus of all places, like.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Geez, glad he could tell his family who's in the movies?
Speaker 1 (27:18):
There you go absolutely for life. He's he's always there.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
All right, So I'm I was over three.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Yeah, I've already won.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Yeah, you already won. So this question is a mute point.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Okay, all right, all right.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
So who is the vocalist providing backup to David Coverdale
for White Snakes live shows.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
There's been a lot of guys, I mean his last
to his last tour. Yep, it's a Dino Jelasnick.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yes, that is correct, jealousic.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's hard to say his name, but yeah,
that guy's yeah awesome.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
What a singer that he is now in a band
called Whom God's Destroy with Bumblefoot and Derek Sherinian.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
That's gonna be awesome. That guy's always him and Ronnie
Romero or have been in like forty bands, and they're
always great, but they just haven't found that one thing
that's gonna stick that everybody will know him oh know
him yet, kind of like Jeff Scott Soto, except Jeff's
a little more famous than those guys.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
But well, Dino did did the that Christmas thing the
Trans Liberian Orchestra also.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
He did just like, yeah, he's doing that now.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Uh, probably not right at this moment, because they are right.
I mean, yeah, okay, he was in this last season.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Okay, well that's a good gig for those guys.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, they sell out everywhere, man everywhere.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
But oh okay, oh, before we get to that, did
you ever did you watched that David Lee Roth video
I sent you from M three and what I did?
What'd you think?
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Not as bad as I was thinking? Okay, and very interesting.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
To have a posse of black guys as your background singers.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
That's how many guys you needed. Yeah, that's that's how
many guys you need to replicate Michael Anthony.
Speaker 7 (29:20):
Yeah exactly, And and it worked.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
I mean I thought the band was really good. I
thought having the four background singers plus three other guys
singing the background vocals, so he had seven people singing
backing vocals, and that helps Dave because Dave's vocals. You
could tell he was trying. But Dave has never been
great live in terms of his voice, and he can't
(29:45):
jump around anymore. So he was, he was trying, and
it was better than I thought it was gonna be.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
So he was great back in the day. Vocally you
think he was.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
He was davidly Roth, but you know he's not gonna
be an opera singer.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
But he was great back in the day.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
But yeah, he was a great entertainer. But I remember
seeing Vanahan with you a couple of times. You go, god,
you know you love the band. But sometimes those things
Dave does, like yeah, the ass list chaps, we saw that.
In fact, the lasts the Diver Down tour is all
over YouTube. You can see that, and we were there.
(30:24):
That's when Eddie brings the little guitar out and plays
little guitars.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
I thought that was great.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Yeah, he had the little tiny keyboard up on his
zams that he played one Foot out the Door.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Oh so good. Yeah, or Sunday Afternoon of the Park, I.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Guess yeah, oh that was a great show.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Oh great, But it was I mean Dave was the
Dave was an amazing entertainer. He was a great frontman,
probably one of the best front men ever. But singer,
yeah yeah, maybe not so much true.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
I mean, I still love that version of Van Hammon
the best. But we all know Sammy's a better singer,
but they he was a better entertainer and a front man.
So and if you get the opportunity that's saying that
best of both worlds thing. And they're doing a residency
in Vegas right now. That is awesome, so good.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
You know how long they're doing that.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
I don't know if they used to do it for
about a month, but so I don't know.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Because I'm in Vegas two weeks from today for that
whole week.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Okay, I see that show.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
If it's in you gotta you gotta check it out,
because I know Vegas has a lot of shows. So
if you give me the dates, I can look up
what's a veiled But I know Sammy's been doing it,
but he might stop right before we get there.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
But I'm flying out Memorial Day. I'll be there that
whole week. Nice fly back Friday.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
I'm going to I'm going to a Reno of all places,
right before that. That weekend, I'm going to Reno in
Carson City and Lake Tahoe just for a quick vacation
and to look around and see if you know, I'd
want to may want to live there some but I
don't know, because it's cheaper than living where I live
right now. And they're talking about everything else. Yeah, they're
(32:07):
talking about gas prices in Californialifornia might go up to
eight dollars a gallon.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
God, oh mighty, that is ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah, we got the highest gas prices in the country.
I think, Oh, it's gonna be tough.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
But yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
I'm thinking about when where I retire, I might have
to move out of the state just to survive. So
we'll see. But anyway, I.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Paid two seventy three at gallon yesterday at Costco.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Yeah, I do a Costco. I paid four eighty nine
at Costco and that's discounted at Costco.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
That's ridiculous. That is ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yeah, it's unbelievable. Certain states are killing their people. But anyway,
enough of that.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
All right, let's move on. Let's move on.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
We got one more bit to do. How about we
you know what, Let's do a commercial break and then
come back and do some intellectual poetry.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
All right, welcome back everybody. Time for some intellectual poetry.
We read the lyrics of a song we all know
and love, but without any melody or rhythm or anything.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
This is very difficult, at least for me. I have
a hard time with this.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
But well I'm an idiot, so it's really hard for
me too.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Well use your words, okay, all right, So the song
I got we all know and love, there's no question
about it.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
But do you know the lyrics well enough? Probably not,
So I'm gonna read the lyrics here.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
I can't give you the first line because that's the
name of the song.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Okay, but I will read the rest of it. And
so here we go.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
I want to go to the New Bills and I
want to see some history, because now I got a
reasonable economy.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Now I got a reason. Now I got a reason.
Now I got a reason. And I'm still waiting.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Now I got a reason. Now I got a reason
to be waiting. The Berlin Wall.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
I believe.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
I believe that's the sex Pistols.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
That is correct. You know the song.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
I think it's Holidays in the Sun.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
That is correct.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
I love that song so good. You know they're back.
They're touring United States.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Three of the four of them. Johnny Rotten is not
in the band. They got a new singer and the
sex Pistols are touring again.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Three of the four original yes, original bass player Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Glenn Matt Locke, Paul Cook on drums, and Steve Jones.
I saw them ninety six. Oh that was the That
was the craziest I ever saw crowd at a concert.
It was so much fun. People were losing their damn minds.
There was a Universal amphitheater and people were just crawling
over the seats to get to close close as the band,
and they couldn't match because it was an amphitheater. So
(35:19):
but people were just standing in chairs and jumping around
and so good.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
That sounds awesome.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Yeah, the power of that band great. Yeah, So if
you get a chance to go see them, Yeah, they're
old men now, but live those songs just take on
a new form. They're so powerful. And I think some
young guy I don't I don't know, I don't know,
I don't know his name, but I know the reason
why Johnny Rotten is not doing it. Johnny, I think
(35:45):
he just lost his wife a while ago, and uh,
he pulled on a gangloa of weight and got really depressed. Obviously,
his wife died. I think she had multiple scross or
something like that, so it was a long pros so
he was taking care of him. She passed, you know,
and he's been very He's very bitter and angry, so
(36:08):
and I think, yeah, but I don't. I think politically
he's not lined up with the other guys in the band.
I think he went super conservative, and I think the
guys are more liberal in his band, So there's too
much conflict there and something along those lines, and they
just don't get along, which is sad because the four
(36:29):
of them together are great. But I guess the next
best thing is bringing the young guy in there and
perform the song, so hopefully it works. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
Last I saw, he looked like he's probably three hundred pals.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yeah he was. He looked. He looked terrible, but yeah,
but you get why you put on the you know,
you lose your wife and all that. I get. While
he's so, I guess he needs to do some personal
healing there and get better and maybe he'll be back someday.
Who knows great, great song though holidays and I don't
want a Holiday and I love that song. Who's that I.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Couldn't started off with I don't want a Holiday in
the sun because that would give it away right away.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
But is anybody covered that one? Because I know skid
Row did. Didn't skid Row? Did skid Roll cover it?
Or did they cover bodies?
Speaker 2 (37:19):
No? They did.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
That was on the Japanese extended release of a Slave
of the Grind.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
They did that one, Okay.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yep, yeah, and it's really good.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
I listened to that today when I was when I
was going through trying to pick a song.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
I listened to it.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Yeah, that's my punk rock where it's just heavy guitars
and heavy attitude, no reggae thrown in there. Sky to me,
that's not punk rock. Punk rock is punk rock is
the ramones like guitar going really fast. That's that's old guys,
(37:56):
old guy, get off my lawn. Punk rock should have
heavy guitars in it. Yeah that's right, Okay, all right,
So your song is complete opposite of the one I picked.
But it's a song that you know and love and
I love it and I heard it the other day
and like God. The lyrics and this song gre really good.
I might have done this before for an electure poetry,
(38:18):
but I couldn't remember because you know, I'm old, but
I figured it was worth revisiting. And this is one
of those, uh that where I'm gonna have to skip
the pre chorus and chorus because it totally gives it away.
So I'll just start with the verses. So are you
ready for this?
Speaker 2 (38:34):
All right, let's bring it on all right?
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Oh, by the way, yeah, by the way, Frank Carter
is the new lead vocalist of sex Pistols.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Yeah, and I couldn't tell you who he is, but
he's young.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
He looks kind of like he looks kind of like
Johnny Rotten from Back in the Day's short kind of
reddish hair.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
Okay, yeah, maybe maybe it's great because I here's a
weird one because I know in Europe like two years ago,
so they did Billy idel two guys from Generation X
and the sex Pistols guys got together and did a
show where they did half Generation X songs and half
sex Pistol songs, which was cool because there's Billy Idol
(39:14):
singing the sex pistol songs. Can't go wrong there?
Speaker 2 (39:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Yeah, all right, so you're ready for this?
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Dan? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Are you ready for this? People out there? This one
might be hard for the people out there, but I
don't think it's gonna be hard for Dan.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
All right, let's see.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
All right, I try to talk to the clouds, but
they spill out the rain. Now I'm truly convinced that
they've got nothing to say. Any clue?
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Uh? Is it Genesis?
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Ah? It is not Genesis. First hint. This song came
out in nineteen ninety three. Okay, will I ever learn?
Is there something wrong with my brain?
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Now?
Speaker 1 (40:03):
The weeds are on fire and they're burning away? Any clue?
Speaker 3 (40:12):
I don't think you would ever pick this band, But
I'm gonna say Midnight Oil.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
No, not even close. All right, second hint. I don't
want to give this away either. All right. This is
a four piece band that's been around since the early
nineties and they're still active today. I have to skip
the prechorus because I think this gives it away. If
I were down on my knees, would it all be
(40:40):
in vain? But for now, I'll believe until there's some
better way and my page is turned till I've got
nothing to say now the days with no dawn are
coming of age. Any clue, m is it? Damn Yankees,
(41:01):
it is not all right. Your next clue is this
is a Canadian band and I'm gonna oh, well when
I tell you which one? Okay? Now, I looked for
the complete lyrics for this song on like seven eight
different starts, say, seven or eight different pages, and I
(41:23):
could not find the complete lyrics. So I have to
go to the pre chorus. And this might give it
away here last time I checked, I'm at thirty four sins.
Another won't matter because I'm never gonna win. Hoping now
I'm on a road that I can change, because I'll
(41:46):
change any clue.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Oh the nickelback?
Speaker 1 (41:52):
No, when correct, I'm surprised. Now I gonna now I
have to go to the chorus. If there was a
time when I needed to pray that the cold wind
blows away, if there was a time when they needed
a place to wipe the guilt free from my face,
(42:14):
if there was a time for mercy in my life,
I'm right now correct.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
If there was a time, man, what a great song.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Oh, it's so good. I love the thirty four sins.
Last time I checked them at thirty four sins and
then the next time he does it. Last time I
checked them at thirty five sins. Yeah, read the lyrics
when you listen to that song next time. They're great lyrics.
Oh my god, this I think I listened to this
(42:50):
song five times in a row on Spotify, just reading
along because on Spotify it gives you the lyrics as
you go, and I'm like, wow, this is a deep
ast song. This is really good. Yeah, so a few
people out there, that's a lot.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Of Harem Scam man. Their songs mean something.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
It's not just like, hey she's on I gotta do her. Hey,
I gotta get old Lady.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
Of the Night.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
Yeah, this particular Yeah, this particular song is on their
best album that we think. It's called Mood Swings. Came
out nineteen ninety three Harem Scam And if you can't
find that on Spotify, they have mood Swings too, which
they had to re record. But it is really close
to the original album, so you're not really missing anything out.
(43:35):
The songs sound almost identical. I mean they reproduce it
almost perfectly, and the singing in the song is off
the charts. I mean, he hit some high ass notes.
So if you get a chance, if there was a
time by harm scam will blow your socks off. Great
songs to the clouds.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
But they still out.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
Julie so so freaking great. But Harry has such an
(44:50):
underrated vocalist and lyricist. And then of course Pete Les
Bronce's unbelievable guitar player.
Speaker 1 (44:57):
If they're playing so freaking good, that's one of the things.
If they're playing any show, if they play anywhere in
the United States, I think we just have to road
trip it there.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
We gotta do it.
Speaker 3 (45:08):
They did that melodic rock show in Chicago years ago.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
We should win, and that is that's the.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
Only show that I can think that I've heard that
they played in the US.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Yeah, I think they might have played in Canada last
year maybe, And I know they played. They just played
in They're playing a European tour, mostly in Italy. But
if I'm thinking if they played Canada again, close enough,
I have a pass.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
I could drive to eastern Canada.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
Really.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
Oh yeah, just north of New York, right, I've driven
to New York many times.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Yeah. Are they from the Toronto area? So I imagine they
played somewhere in Ontario. Right, So if they did that,
I would consider flying up there just for this show
because I'm we.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Mar I'll pick you up at the airport.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Okay, man, we have to do well.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
They just they have.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
A new album out, so maybe they're touring.
Speaker 1 (46:03):
Yeah, we don't know how much longer they're gonna last.
Just one of those bucket list bands that we gotta see. Yeah,
HAIRM Scam what a quality group. Yeah, and then they
have a new album out. Go check them out on
Spotify if you like melodic hard rock. Oh the best.
They just came out a little too late. They came
out in the early nineties, so they missed the whole
(46:24):
wave that they would have came out eighty five. They
probably would have been huge. Yeah, so good okay, and
on that No, we're gonna end on a happy note.
You won one of the bits, I won one of
the bits, and together we all win.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Yes, we don't suck.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
Okay, So hopefully we teams worked out all right. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Well if it didn't, we will never hear this. So
we're gonna I'm gonna put this out tomorrow, and if
you hear tomorrow, you know what worked. So I'm gonna
work on this thing and cross my fingers and we'll
see you. Well, I'll try to put something out next
week and try to get this thing going weekly and
Danny and I record every two weeks. So thank you
(47:11):
for listening. If you can listen any you can listen
on YouTube, any podcast platform you know. Give us you
know right us. We'll respond back to you. Give us
a lot if you like the show, give us a
little like, hit the like button on anything. It helps
with the algorithm. Algorithm. Okay, that's the word of the day. Algorithm.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
All right, I will say Haarm's Carame is on a
European tour right now. Their last show is May fourth
in the Netherlands.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
Well, we missed it.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
They played Belgium, Germany, England.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Yeah, and we missed it because we weren't We didn't
want to fly to Europe if well, we were working.
We can't just take off work and fly at the whim.
If they play anywhere anywhere near us, we need to go.
So maybe they're gonna play somewhere in camp I don't know. Well,
I can't see nothing in the future right now.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
Yeah, I can't see anything in the future. They've only
played one show in the US, and that was September
twenty eighth, twenty thirteen, at the Melodic Rock Fest in Chicago.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
Yeah, I've noticed there's a lot of Canadian bands in
the last five or six years. They'll play the cruises
and they'll play Europe, but rarely will they play the States.
Maybe it's a pain in the ass to get a
work visa in the States now. I don't know, but
maybe because I know, like people will be asking for
(48:36):
like Helix to come play M three for years now
and they just don't. Or like, I know, Honeymoon's, Honeymoon's
we played the eighties cruise, but I don't know if
they played any more in the States.
Speaker 8 (48:49):
They might have, but well, their set list from that
show in Chicago was unbelievable. Oh man, ends of the
Change comes around?
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Uh no justice that he promises?
Speaker 1 (49:03):
Yes, yeah, that that festival in Chicago doesn't exist anymore
because I guess it didn't generate enough money because there
was a.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Guy from Yeah, there was only one time thing.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
Yeah, a guy from Australia tried to pull that together
from Melodic rock dot Com and it just didn't generate
enough money. So they stopped doing it, but nice try.
Oh did you hear hear what happened at the whiskey? No,
because you were at the whiskey with me and the clips. Well,
yesterday a dump truck lost control and ran into the
whiskey right under the sud hit that brick.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
Yeah, holy crap. Is that destroyed?
Speaker 1 (49:41):
No, it's not completely destroyed, but it damaged the building.
And here's the funny part. The band that was supposed
to play that night was called boy Boy hits car
ha ha ha. So yeah, a dump truck, but I
guess it's just out. I don't think it all went
all the way through, but if you go on social
media you can see pictures of it. So yeah, dumb
truck hit the whiskey, but the show's going on. I
(50:03):
guess it didn't do it too bad, just exterior damage.
It didn't go all the way.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Through the stage.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
And another happy note for you people out there.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
So yeah, Well, I will say I'm going to see
Metallica in two weeks Friday and Friday and Sunday at
the Eagles Stadium in Philly.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
So excellent.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
I will have a review. It'll be my second time
seeing that tour. All right, So you saw it way
way back when they were played the Metal.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Lands up in Jersey.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
Cool, So you're you might go see the Boardwalk Rock
on Saturday, and then the following weekend is two days
of Metallica? Is that Saturday and Sunday or Friday.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
And Saturday, Friday, Friday and Sunday.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
Friday and Sunday. Okay, so yeah, they do.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Two different, completely different sets, not one song of the thing.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
So maybe on that following Monday we'll get a fresh
take on that show.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
Well, the following Monday, I'm traveling to Vegas. Favorite record
that week.
Speaker 1 (51:01):
Jesus, Well, well we'll get one. We'll get something done.
We'll get a review of something, all right, So we'll
figure it out their people, we'll get you some entertainment there.
Maybe we'll record something early and put it out while
we're both out of town.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
