All right. Welcome to HB dw J Podcasts. I am
Jerry Joyce, your host and our mission to train, to
provide the knowledge that will train sisters and brothers in Christ,
to spread God's love and create disciples. Our vision to
share all resources that would aid in the knowledge necessary
(01:20):
for the building of God's kingdom. The adversary does not
know what to do with those who possess integrity. We
are not human beings on a spiritual journey on the
contract me we are spiritual beings on a human journey.
With that being said, we will open this Holy Bible
study session up with prayers. So please join in, Oh
(01:42):
Holy Eternal Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It is once again
that we coming to you as humble as we know how,
realizing that you grant us the wisdom to walk in
your ways and strength to uphold your teachings. You got
our heart and mind to discern right from wrong, and
help us to act with integrity and compassion in all
(02:03):
that we do. Fill us with the courage to stand
up for justice and to live a life that reflects
your love and truth. Help us to be a beacon
of righteousness in the world, bringing light where there is darkness,
and hope where there is despair. May our actions and
decisions be a testament to your goodness and grace. We
(02:24):
ask for your continual guidance and supporting this journey toward
living a moral and righteous life. Thank you for your
continued gracious and mercis. We pray these things in the
precious name of Jesus Christ, a man all right. Our
scripture of the week is Song chapter one hundred and nineteen,
(02:48):
Verse one. King James version blessed are the undefiled in
the way who walk in the law of the Lord. Now,
this is both the longest song and the longest chapter
in the bubble. It may have been written by Ezra
after the Temple was rebuilt, according to Ezra, chapter six,
(03:10):
verses fourteen and fifteen, as a repetitive meditation on the
beauty of God's word and how it helps us stay
pure and grow in faith. Now, Psalm chapter one and
nineteen has twenty two carefully constructed sections, each corresponding to
a different letter in the Hebrew alphabet, and each verse
(03:34):
beginning with a letter with the letter of its section.
All right, Almost every verse mentions God's word. Such repetition
was common in the Hebrew culture. People did not have
the personal copies of scriptures to read as we do today.
So God's people memorize this word and passed it along orally.
(03:57):
All right. Now, the structor structure of this Psalm allowed
for easy memorization. Remember that God's word the Bible, along
with the help and guidance of his Holy Spirit, is
the only sure God for living a god honoring life.
All right, Our topic today is God announces the come
(04:18):
in destruction of Sodom Agam or report one discussion for
men standing looking at the city of Sodom in the
distance from a high vantage point. One is Abraham, one
is the Lord in human form. The other two are angels,
(04:40):
traveling companions of the Lord on this mysterious journey. By
this time, Sodom has already gained a reputation for wickedness.
And this is all in accordance with Genesis chapter thirteen,
verse thirteen. Now this versus another example of God using
(05:00):
human actions, words, or speech to help us understand an idea.
God called out to Adam in the garden of Eden,
even though he knew where he was hiding. According to
Genesis chapter three, verse nine. Alright, God speaks as a
man to Abraham even though he already knows how the
(05:22):
conversation would perceived. According to Genesis chapter eighteen, verses one
through three. Alright, now here where we are in scripts today,
God poses a rhetorical question which helps explain why exactly
God is going through this process of appearing to Abram
(05:42):
uh Abraham rather and discussing Sodom with him. In short,
God has plans to make Abraham aware so he will
be all the more convinced of God's power and sovereignty. Now,
this patient process will also emphasize as the extent to
which Sodom had fallen all Right. Here, God continues to
(06:06):
explain to the angels why he will not hide from
Abraham what it is he is about to do. Now, Abraham,
the Lord says, will become a great admighty nation. More,
all of the nations of the earth will be blessed
in Abraham right now. In other words, God has already
(06:28):
given his astounding covenant promises to Abraham, along with his
plans for Abraham's future offspring. So why would God now
withhold from Abraham information about his plans for Saldom. This
also means that God's actions against Saldom are meant to
carry a message to men like Abraham. What eventually a
(06:51):
carries in that city will not prove that God always
make good on his promises. It will also prove that
God's judgment on sin is unmistakable. Now, the Lord adds
that he has chosen Abraham in part to command his children,
and through them, all of the children who would follow,
(07:12):
to keep the Lord's way by doing what is right
and just. Now. In that way, the Lord would keep
his covenant promises to Abraham. This places an important context
on God's decision to tell Abraham in advance what was
about to happen to some. As Abraham pleaded for God
(07:33):
to spare the innocent of slom, of whom there are
virtually none, and seize God's destruction, he will be reminded
of the holiness to which he is being called. Now
this is the first mention of Abraham's responsibility to command
and train each following generation to keep the way of
(07:56):
the Lord. Now, by extension, this same command is applied
to Israel. All right, So this is also one of
a few mentions that God's keeping of his promises to
Abraham would be tied to Israel keeping to the way
of the Lord. Having explained why he will reveal his
(08:20):
plans from Seldom to Abraham, the Lord now begins to
do so. Apparently Abraham was unable to hear the Lord's
words in the previous verses. Now the Lord speaks directly
to him. What the Lord says is ominous. The outcry
(08:41):
against the peoples of the cities of Soldomiga Mora is great,
and they're sin is grave. The language used is similar
to what God said to Cain in Genesis chapter four,
verse ten, Your brother's blood cries out to me from
the ground. In the same poetic sense, the cries of
the victims of the sins of Soldom and Gomorra had
(09:03):
reached the ears of God himself. He was about to
execute justice. God's reasons for revealing this to Abraham in
advance seems to have several layers. First, since Abraham is
meant to be the founder of God's chosen people, he
needs to see that God's promises, all of his promises,
(09:25):
are kept. This not only means the covenant with Abraham,
but God's judgment of sin and wickedness as well. Also
the opportunity for Abraham to plead for the innocent of Soldom,
of whom there are virtually none. Highlights for Abraham, just
how depraved that culture had become. Now these combined, yeah,
(09:51):
combined to highlight God's perfect justice, which is something he
wants his chosen people to understand. Then, all right, now,
the Lord continues explaining to Abraham his plans for Sodom
and Gomorra. In the previous verse, God states that outcry
(10:12):
over the sins of those cities. He states that that
the outcry over the sins of those cities had reached
his ears. Now the Lord says that he intends to
go down to the cities to see for himself if
such an outcry is justified. Both of these examples of
(10:32):
God using human terminology to more clearly explain his message.
All right now, the Lord already knows exactly what sins
have occurred there. He intends to visit the cities to
make the case for executing his judgment on them, much
as a parent who already knows exactly what a child
has done, says they are going to go look at
(10:55):
the situation, all right now. With God telling Abraham this,
this is more for him to understand how God see,
you know, it's going to see what's going on there,
which God already knows what's going on, But this is
a way for Abraham to understand him going to see
(11:15):
for himself, all right now. This is probably easier to
explain than explain it to Abraham how he knows, which
I don't know if Abraham could understand. But anyways, in
the following verses, we will see Abraham's great concern for
his nephew Lot, who lives in Salem and is in
(11:40):
great danger of being swept away with the wicked people
of the city. So now the two angels turn and
walk towards Saldem. Abraham and the Lord remain where they are.
Abraham's nephew Lot lives in the city of Salem, and
Abraham is about to question the Lord more specifically about
some's futures, and the answers he received will not be pleasant.
(12:06):
The Lord has revealed to Abraham his plan to investigate
the sinfulness of the cities and saw salt sold the
man more and by implication, execute judgment upon them if
they are guilty, which this is entirely for man's benefits,
since God already knows what is happening there. Rather, by
(12:28):
speaking of investigation and conversion with Abraham, God is teaching
mankind by giving us a clear, unmistakable justification for what
he is about to do. So this is more. This
is it's more than just for Abraham, It's for us
as well. So this information, it should it's very applicable
(12:52):
to things that we go through today. All right now,
oh well, now getting back to them, To the subject
at hand, Abraham certainly knew of the wickedness of these cities.
According to Genesis chapter thirteen, verse thirteen, as well as
Genesis chapter fourteen, verses twenty two through twenty three, not
(13:13):
only would they have had a reputation in the region
for their behavior, but Abraham's nephew Lot and his family
also live in the city among all those wicked folks.
Abraham is concerned that Lot will suffer the same fate
as the rest of the wicked people of the city
(13:35):
if the Lord chooses to take action against them. Now,
this seems to be his motivation for asking God to
spare the city. Abraham begins to question the Lord about
what will happen. Will he sweep away the righteous with
the wicked? In other words, will God allow innocent people
(13:57):
to be hurt in his judgment? Oh, the guilty? This
is a question many still asked about the Lord. Is
he just Huh? What are the boundaries of his mercy? Huh?
What will keep him from delivering his righteous wrath one
of those who are guilty of grave sin as human beings.
(14:21):
We recall the idea of those we perceive as innocent
being caught up in God's wrath against those we perceive
as guilty. Now, the following verses will reveal that Abraham
desperately wants for the Lord to quantify his mercy with
a specific number. All right, now that is that is
(14:47):
you know that part of our discussion. So we're gonna
now do something different here. Do you have the complexion
for the protection? It is now time for our life reflection?
All right? Did Abraham change God's mind? Hm? Of course not.
(15:11):
The more likely answer is that God changed Abraham's mind.
Abraham knew that God is just and that he punished
the sin, but he may have wondered about God's mercy.
Abraham seemed to be proving God's mind to see how
merciful he really was. He left his conversation with God
(15:33):
convinced that God was both kind and fair. Our prayers
may not change God's mind, but they may change ours,
just as Abraham's prayer changed his prayer helps us better
understand the mind of God. God gave the people of
Sodom a fair tess. He was not ignorant of the
(15:54):
city's wicked practice practices, but in his fairness, and he
gave its people one last chance to repent. God is
still waiting, giving people the opportunity to turn to Him
and This is all in accordance to two Peter Chapter three,
verse nine. Those of us today who are wise were
(16:16):
turned to him before his patience was out. Check this
out out out all right. If you happen to find

Mm hm, hey bro, what time is it? Man? It's
now time to have the foundents from HBU and dwch's website. Alright,
let's get to it. Lin Cowley says, this is a
very detailed description of the conversation between Abraham and God
(18:14):
about the wickedness of the people living in Salamannglemoral. Abraham
would like to see the city saved, probably because of
his family, including Lot, living there, but God knows what
is right and best. It is a good reminder of
what happens to the bad people, especially in the modern
(18:35):
times that we live in where most cities have become
like a Salomnglemoral. Alright, Hello there, Line Cali. I appreciate
you continuing to be a beacon here on this HBS
and dw platform. I agree one hundred percent with your comment.

the sprinkle of your distant style. But what truly sets
this website apart is its interactive nature. The comment section

keep up the process and keep up the progress. Blessings
my friend. All right, let's go to Marquise. Marquise says,
as a fellow Christian, I have to say that upon
stumbling across this website, I quite oh, I was quite fascinated,
(22:03):
not just the design of the website. Okay, but oh
it's wait a minute. I was quite fascinated, not just
at the design of the website, but also the quality
of the writing and the detail of it. This is
an extremely in depth and detailed conversation between Abraham and
(22:26):
God about the evilness of the people living in Sodom. Inglemorra, alright,
hello Marquise, Welcome to HBS and DWJ platform, and thank
you for taking the time to stop by and visit us.
Your comment is definitely appreciate Aided and uh, please come
back soon to come in on other episodes and blessings
my friend. Alright, let's move it along to Jordie. Uh.
(22:50):
JORDIEA says, in my personal opinion, the topics are sensitive
because of different religious beliefs and views. But I like
that idea that your website is sharing valuable insights from
the Bible. It is always good mentally to know that
you contributed and shared the Holy Scriptures to many. I
(23:11):
myself wanted to share about Saint Jude, that is, many
times I prayed to him and all were answer prayers.
I believe that spreading the fact that Saint Jude that is,
is very close to Jesus and he is not Judas
who betrayed Jesus Christ well will give him praises and thanks,
(23:35):
thank you for sharing this good news to others. I'm
gon try and read this again s here. I believe
that spreading the fact that Saint jud that is is
very close to Jesus and he is not Judas who
betrayed Jesus Christ, will give him praises and things. Well
that's what it says. Okay, Well, hello Jordia, thank you
(24:00):
for stopping by the HBS and DWJ platform adding value
to it with your comments. And if you're talking about
ju who is also called Thaddeus, and at times it's
called Saint jud that is, who was the brother of
another apostle, Saint James the Lesson. He was referred to
(24:25):
as one of the brethren of Jesus. It is believed
that he may have been Jesus's cousin as well. I
can't remember ever hearing anything about Saint Jude, that is
being Judas is scariest who betrayed Jesus Christ. Now in
some Latin manuscripts of Matthew chapter ten, verse three, that
(24:48):
is is called Judas the Zelt. Judas the Zelt is
a lesser known figure in the New Testament of the Bible.
He is one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus.
His full name is Judas, the son of James, and
he sometimes is identified as Julus the ze Lot to
distinguish him from Judas is Scariot, who betrayed Jesus. Now,
(25:13):
the terms Zelot suggests that he may have been associated
with UH the ze Lot movement, which is a political
group that well, which was a political group that sought
to overthrow Roman Roman rule in Judea. However, details about
his life and activities are sparse in the New Testament,
(25:35):
and much of what we know comes from like later
UH traditions and interpretations. So you know, we get the
fragments of what's what's left. But you are welcome for
the sharing of this good news to others and blessings,
my friend. All right, let's move it along to Stacey.
(25:56):
Stacey says the destruction of Sodomga Morro was necessary for
God's plan, and being forthcoming about it with Abraham was
totally intentional for many reasons, not only to build trust
and faith with Abraham, but also to enlighten him. God
could not allow these cities to continue on their paths
(26:18):
of sin and unrighteous behaviors. I never argue the necessity
of this action. My only argument has always been that
homosexuality is not a sin okay. It was the only
thing I read in this article that truly upset me
(26:38):
to see the print in twenty twenty four, to see
it in print in twenty twenty four. Sorry to be
one to get hung up on that part of the message,
but I do not believe that God wants to destroy homosexuals.
From the Bible or not, it is wrong aside from
(27:02):
one state. Aside from that one statement, I found this
to be a great barber study of the coming destruction
of Seldom and the Mooral station. All right, well, hello
over there, station, and thank you for being kind enough
to leave your heartfelt comments, which are greatly appreciated, by
the way. But according to the Word of God, Soldom
(27:23):
was legendary for its sin okay revealed here to be
a lack of concern for the poor, along with its
detestable acts such as homosexuality, rate and violence. However, according
to this portion of scripture, according to this particular area
(27:44):
of passage, the focus seems to be more on the
acts against the two angels who came to soldom to
destroy the city, all right. Even inside large home, however,
are not out of home's way. The men of the
city surrounded lots house and demand the men to be
(28:07):
sent out so the mob may know them. Now, this
text is clear, both in terms of language, interpretation and context,
that the crowd of men from Sodom has gathered to
homosexually rape these two strangers. All right now, according to
the Holy Bible, this is a sin. This sin is
(28:31):
about actions of these men, not the word homosexuality. Now,
we may not always agree with God, but that is
why God is the creator and we are the created.
Thanks for sharing your opinion, and oh yeah, blessings my friend.
All right, Station replied to this, Station says, thank you
(28:53):
so much for the classification of this manner. And on
this note, hundred percent agree. No matter what type of
rape it is, it is very wrong and a huge sin.
All right now, we got that all cleared up. But
for now, this is what God announces, the coming destruction
(29:16):
of Sodom and the moral part one discussion is all about.
All right now, we would go ahead with that, Ben said,
we will go ahead and close out with prayer. Gracious Spirit,
we seek your help in living a life of mortal,
of moral integrity and ethical purpose. May our thoughts, words,
(29:41):
and deeds be aligned with your higher principles, and may
we consistently choose what is just and right. We ask
that you strengthen our resolves to resist the temptation and
act with fairness and kindness towards all. Grant us government
