Speaker 1 (00:08):
What is the Bible? What is it worth? Basic constructions
before leaving Earth. Life is full of struggles and it
is hard, but we are made in the image of God. Lord,
I have to appraise you to the moon and back.
I don't see anything wrong with that. It's mean you health,
it's me you care, it's mean you move, It's me
(00:28):
you group, it's me you touch. I love you so much.
Oh my Lord, I have to say thank you. Open
your eyes. What do you see? Have you inventor with
your life lately? Oh? Yeah, I have something else to say.
Welcome to HBES in dub Jaide. Oh lordy, lordy to
God goes the glory. God goes the glory, the glory, glory, alright.
(01:02):
Welcome to HBS and DWJ podcast. I am Jerry Joyce,
your host and our mission to provide the knowledge that
will train sisters and brothers in Christ, to spread God's
love and create disciples. Our vision to share all resources
that will aid in the knowledge necessary for the building
(01:25):
of God's kingdom. The adversary does not know what to
do with those who possess integrity. We are not human
beings on their spiritual journey or the contract reg we
are spiritual beings on their human journey. With that being said,
we will open this Holy Bible study session up with prayer.
(01:45):
So please join in, Oh Holy Eternal Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
It is once again that we coming to you as
humble as we know. How Lord, God, help us now
to let your healing light shine into the dark places
of our life life. Give us the courage, God to
(02:09):
lay down the burden of guilt and shame and let
it all rest in your loving hands. You die that
we might be free, that we might live in your life,
creating us a clean heart, O God, trusting that as
far as the easts from the west, so far have
(02:29):
you removed our transgressions from us. Thank you for your
continued races and mercies. We pray these things in the
precious name of our Savior and life, Jesus Christ, a
man all right. Our scripture of the week is Song
(02:50):
chapter fifty one, verses ten through twelve, King James Version.
Creating me a clean heart, O God, and renew a
right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence,
and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto
me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with
(03:12):
thy free spirit. All right. Because we are born as sinners,
we naturally want to please ourselves rather than God. David
followed that inclination when he took another man's wife. We
also follow When we sin in any way, like David,
(03:32):
we must ask God to cleanse us from within, clearing
our hearts and spirits for new thoughts and desires. Godly
conduct can come only from a clean heart and spirit.
Ask God to create a clean heart and spirit in you.
Do you ever feel stagnant in your faith, as though
(03:55):
you are just going through the motions? Have sin ever
driven a wedge between you and God making him seem distant? Huh?
David felt this way. He had sin with Bethsheba and
had just been confronted by Nathan the Prophet. In his prayer,
(04:19):
he cried, restore unto me the joy of your salvation.
God wants us to be close to Him and to
experience his full and complete life. But sin that remains
unconfessed makes such intimacy impossible. Confess your sin to God.
(04:43):
You may still have to face earthly consequences, as David did,
but God will return the joy of our relationship with him.
All right. Now, our topic today is God's covenant Part
(05:03):
one discussion. Now, God continues to reveal his covenant promises
to make Abram now renamed Abraham, into a father of
multiple nations. All right, and now God insists that he
will make Abram fruitful, causing many offsprings to come from
(05:26):
him or many off spring rather, it's plural. Earlier in Genesis,
God commanded men like Adam and Nord to be fruitful
and multiply, as we can find in Genesis chapter one
and as well as Genesis chapter nine. In Genesis chapter one,
it'll be verse twenty eight. In Genesis chapter nine are
(05:48):
to be verse one. All right, Now God tells Abraham
that he will make him fruitful and cause him to multiply.
Unlike those earlier encounters, God has now take on himself
their responsibility to create nations out of a single patriarch. Finally,
(06:09):
God reveals that kings will come from Abraham, which makes
sense if Abraham is the father nations. Still, God means
for Abraham to understand that he will be the patriarch
of multiple royal lines. At this point in the conversation,
Abraham most likely still believes that Ishmael his only son.
(06:32):
Through his servant girl Hategard is meant to be the
fulfillment of these promises, as we can find in Genesis
chapter sixteen, verse two, as well as verse sixteen. It
won't be until later, when God renames Abraham's wife as
Sarah and declares that she will be the mother of
(06:55):
many nations, that Abraham realizes that God is predicting a
new born baby for a ninety nine year old man
and an eighty nine year old woman, as we can
find in Genesis chapter seventeen, Verses sixteen and seventeen. Now,
(07:15):
God makes it clear that these covenant promises will extend
to Abraham's offspring throughout all their generations. In fact, God
describes this covenant as everlasting. God will be Abraham's God
and the God of Abraham's offspring forever. This covenant relationship
(07:36):
will never end. God will keep these promises into eternity.
In establishing this forever covenant between Abraham's offspring and himself,
God is making for himself a people of his own,
a people set apart as his people. Now, these people
(07:57):
will eventually become the nation of Israel. And yet, despite
what Abraham may think, the son who will fulfill these
promises has not yet been born. Ishmael, Abraham's son through
his servant Hagard, as we can find in Jenesis chapter sixteen,
verse two, as well as chapter sixteen, verse sixteen, was
(08:18):
never meant to be the promised son. He will be
blessed and prosperous, as God has promised his mother in
Genesis chapter sixteen, verses ten through twelve. But instead God
intends to allow this elderly couple to conceive a son
who will be named Isaac, as we can find in
(08:41):
Genesis chapter seventeen through verse nineteen. Now it is this
covenant promise from God, sometimes called the Abrahamic Covenant, by
which Israel would claim and later conquer and possess the
land of Cadenan God concludes by I will be their
(09:01):
God all right now. Throughout the rest of Genesis and
the rest of the Bible, God will claim his right
to be Israel's God, both in blessing and judgment. Now,
much of Israel's suffering in the Old Testament occurs when
they fail to honor God, either in their worship or
their actions, as we can find in Jeremiah chapter seven,
(09:25):
verse thirteen, and it's also in Malachi chapter one, verses
six and seven. All right now, and yet despite those feelings,
and despite God's correction, he will remain or he will
maintain his promises. The descendants of Abraham, through Isaac and
(09:46):
his son Jacob, would be the nation of Israel, God's
chosen people forever. We can find information on this in
Malachi chapter three, verse six. Now, this is a promise
God will keep. Regard others of how faith less Abraham's
offspring may be in the future, God may judge them
(10:06):
and punish them, but he will never violate his promises. Now,
God reveals to Abraham another act of faith he must
take in order to keep his covenant. In fact, every
regeneration of Abraham's offspring would need to do what God
requires in the following versus in order to keep the covenant.
(10:30):
The requirement would be personal, painful, and intimate. It would
also be symbolic, suggesting God's influence in every regeneration and
the unending nature of the covenant agreement. Now, this requirement
is circumcision, the removal of the foreskin from the penis
(10:55):
For newborn boys. This ritual will happen within days of birth,
as according to as found in Genesis, chapter seventeen, verse twelve.
Circumcision may already have been practiced in the world at
this time by specific tribes and nations, but it was
(11:16):
far from universal. Abraham had never been circumcised, so it
is likely it was not practiced by his family or
the people of Mesopotamia. Abraham was not the first person
on earth to practice circumcision, but the way God implements
(11:37):
this ritual is unique. Circumcision involves the removal of the
force skin, a circular flap of skin covering the end
of the penis. The symbolism of this act relates to
crucial aspects of Jewish and Christian theology. The force skin
is a natural born part of a person, but needs
(11:59):
to be del liberately shed under circumcision, of course, in
order for the people of Israel to honor God. This
is the symbolism all right now. This is symbolic of
the need to set aside sin and other inborn urges
in favor of God's will. The removal involves a circular shape.
(12:23):
Circles are frequently used as symbols of permanence and eternity,
and this covenant is said to be of elasting all
it creates a permanent change in the person making that commitment.
It's an outward visible representation of a spiritual covenant. Also,
(12:44):
the means of human reproduction mayle spurn, which literally pass
through the circle, symbolizing the influence of God on the
very existence of his people. Now, the ritual of circumcision
is to be performed on every male baby at eight
(13:05):
days old. Now this applies to absolutely everyone who was
part of the household, even male slaves not related to
Abraham by blood or marriage must be circumcised. This requirement
from God is given to Abraham centuries before the Love
of Moses. Now, covenant circumcision is one of the foundational
(13:27):
aspects of God's relationship with Israel. All right, Now, this
was for the Israelites, all right, the circumcision. Now, I
know today we all do it, you know, it's a
common thing, but it originated with the Israelites, and I'm
(13:49):
just guessing that it just spread after that point. And
especially we had a lot of Jewish doctors I know
from where I'm from, and they that's what their practice was.
So when babies were born, they were automatically w you know,
circumcised because the Jewish doctors. Uh uh, that's what they done,
(14:13):
you know. Alright. So uh that's all i'm'a say on
that subject. Do you have their complexion for the protection.
It is now time for our life reflection. Why did
God require circumcision? First of all as a sign of
(14:38):
obedience to him in all matters? That was one reason. Secondly,
as a sign of belonging to his covenant people. Who
are who the Israelites, God's covenant people. Once circumcised, a
man would be identified as one of God's chosen people
who the Israelites eventually the Jews forever all right now.
(15:04):
Third of all, as a symbol of cutting off the
old life of sin, purifying one's heart, and dedicating oneself
to God. This is the symbol or the symbolic act
of circumcision, all right. Fourth of all, possibly as a
health measure. Circumcision separated God's people from many of their
(15:29):
pagan neighbors in Abraham's days. This was essential to develop
the pure worship of the One True God. Check this
out out out all right. If you happen to find

his descendants would be like the stars of the sky,
and he believed, but his wife couldn't see in the

my friend. All right, let's go ahead and move on
(19:19):
to Max Sud. Max Sud says, hi, there, thank you
for sharing your thoughts on biblical history and delving into
the complexities of faith, promise, and obedience. Your detailed exexamination
of the Covenant and its implications, both historically and theologically,
(19:39):
offers a rich perspective. One question that arises from your
post is how the concept of covenant as seen with
Abraham can be understood and applied in modern context in
a world vastly different from Abraham's. How do we interpret
and integrate the idea of a covenant with God and
(20:01):
our word, personal and collective spiritual journeys. Thank you for
your dedication and for explaining these deep and enduring stories.
Best regards, Max Sud. All right, hello there again, Max Sud.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on God's Covenant, Father
of a multitude. The Bible is a covenant book and
(20:25):
to be read well, it needs to be read covenantly,
all right now, have you ever noticed that covenant is
written on the title pages of two parts of your Bible?
They read Old Testament and New Testament, Yes, they do,
(20:52):
all right now. God's covenants intel, benefits and responsibilities, privileges
and duty, and in God's sovereign, good and wise design.
These things are meant to be inseparably intermingled soul. That
(21:12):
we delight in duty and duty is a delight. All
right now. It is my food to do the will
of him who sent me, Jesus said, and so his
disciples do too. All right now. It is the design
of all God's commands to bless us. They are all
(21:34):
for His glory and for our good. Blessings to you,
my friend, all right, let's move it along to Brian.
Brian says, Wow, what a comprehensive blow. God's Covenant is
a great place to start research information on God. Many
people have a Bible, but not many take the time
(21:56):
to read and learn from its teachings. Many people people
will find this an invaluable site of reference. Good luck
with your project, and hope we all have God in
our lives every day. All right, Well, hello there, Brian,

on these enduring stories. All right, hello there, Leonardo Uh.
I appreciate your time and your valuable contribution to this discussion.
(23:04):
Thank you for your feedback, and I'm happy to read
that you appreciate my commitment. There seems to be a
number of people with their own ideas about God. However,
I am sharing the good news because of my own
experiences and personal relationship with God. My faith in God
(23:25):
is how I survive each and every day. And you
are most certainly welcome for the shedding of light on
these enduring stories. And thank you for commenting and blessings,
my friend. All right, let's move it along to Jake
Devin's Jake Devin says, hi, I grew up as a Christian,
and I still remember learning the Ten Commandments. I really
(23:49):
like them and think that they should be embraced by
more people. I also know quite a few Christians, and
most of them are good people. I think reading the
Bible is a smart move, and one of my Christian
friends told me people that read the Bible are blessed.
Thank you, have a good day. All right, Hello Jay,
(24:09):
thank you so much for stopping by and choosing to
