Hagar Flees - The Plight Of Hagar part-2
The angel of the Lord, perhaps Yahweh Himself, finds Hagar resting at a spring along a road leading back to her homeland of Egypt. He gives to Hagar a command and a promise.
First, the angel of the Lord tells Hagar to return and submit to Sarai.
Then He reveals that she will bare a son, Ishmael, and that his offspring will become so numerous as to be uncountable. However, he will be a "wild donkey" of a man and his life—and the lives of his descendants—will be marked by conflict with everyone.
In spite of this mixed news, Hagar is astonished and grateful that God has heard her. The name of her son, Ishmael, means "God hears." She names the Lord who heard her cry and came to her the "God of seeing" and names the well Beer-lahai-roi, "well of the living One who sees."
Hagar returns to Abram and Sarai, and Ishmael is born. While God has given a guarantee of blessing to Hagar and Ishamel, this boy is not the child of the promise. This was not how God planned to accomplish His will, and the son born from Abram's second wife is not the fulfillment of the Lord's vows to Abram.
Another 13 years will pass before God will fully reveal His plan to Abram, giving he and Sarai their long-awaited son.

It is now time for our lifereflection. All right. Now,
the descendants from Hagar are included inthe promise given the Abram that his family

will be so large that he willnot be able to count them. We
have watched three people take and makeserious mistakes. They took serious actions and
made serious mistakes. First of allSarah, who took matters into her own
hands and gave her servant to Abram. And then that's Abram, who went

along with the plan, but whencircumstances began to go wrong, refused to
help solve the problem. And thirdof all hegd who ran away from the
problem. Now, in spite ofthis messy situation, God demonstrated his ability
to work in all things to bringabout good. And this is in accordance
to Romans Chapter eight, verse twentyeight. Sarai and Abram still received the

sun they so desperately wanted, andGod solved he God's problem, despite Abram's
refusal to get involved. So whatdoes that tell you, Well, it
tells me no problem is too complicatedfor God if we are willing to let

and his life and the lives ofhis descendants will be marked by conflict

that God has heard her. Thename of her son, Ishmael, means
God's hearers. She names the Lordwho heard her cry and came to her
the God of sin, and namesthe weal beard lae Haroi, well of
the living one who sees. Hagarreturns to Abram and sir Rai and Ishmael

is born. While God has givena guarantee of blessing to Hagar and Ishmael,
this boy is not the child ofthe promise. This was not how
God planned to accomplish his will,and the son born from Abram's second wife
is not the fulfillment of the Lord'sviolence to Abram. Another thirteen years or

so will pass before God will fullyreveal his plan to Abram, given he
and their right well, given heand Yes, Sarah ride there a long
awaited son at that time. Allright, now it is time to open
our hearts, minds, and soulsto the word of God. Our scripture

shall call his name Ishmael. Becausethe Lord hath heard by affliction, and
he will be a wild man.His hand will be against every man,

all his brethren. And she calledthe name of the Lord that space come

to her. Thou God seest me, For she said, have I also
here looked after him that seeth me. Wherefore the well was called beer le
HIROI behold it is between Kadish andBeret, and Hagar bear Abram a son,
and Abram called his son's name,which Hagar bear Ishmael. And Abram

was four score and six years oldwhen Hagar bear Ishmael to Abram. All
right, now that we have wentthrough the scriptures, it is time where
I would break a verse breakdown,that is, and we'll start our verse

breakdown with Genesis chapter sixteen, verseeleven. And the Angel of the Lord
said, unto her, behold thouart with child, and shalt Beary's son,
and shalt call his name Ishmi.Yeah, because the Lord hath heard
thy affliction. Al right now,the fault of her situation did not belong

with Hagard, but rather with Abramand Sarah. However, she ultimately fortified
what the Lord could have done,but not fortified but for for forfeited what
the Lord could have done for herby opposing his plan, which was u
isaac. Alright now, Ishmael meansGod hears. However, it's it has

nothing to do with Ishmael, butrather with the plight of Hagard herself.
Okay, all right now here uh. That promise is followed by a formal
prophecies, something occasionally referred to asUH the birth a as eight birth oracle,
and often delivered by angels. Alright, now, First of all,
the Angel of the Lord reveals thatHagar's child is a boy, and she
(12:54):
will call him Ishmael. And againIsmael means God, God has here,
and now in this case, itmeant that the Lord listened to Hagard's affliction
and stepped in to help. Andthe oracle continues in the following verse.
So let's move it along to Genesischapter sixteen, verse twelve. And he
(13:15):
will be a wild man. Hishand will be against every man, and
every man against him, and heshall dwell in the presence of all his
brethren. Right now, these predictionsdescribe the arap people perfectly. They cannot
get along with anyone in the world, and they cannot even get along among
(13:39):
themselves. The descendants of Ismael dwellin the presence of all his brethren Israel,
but do not subdue them, andin fact, never will subdue them.
Right now, the rest of theoracle is less favorable. Even though
Ismael will be the first son toAbram, he is not the promised child
(14:01):
which God has guaranteed you. Thiswas not the way God intended to fulfill
his vows to Abram. And sothis firstborn boy of Abram will become a
wild donkey of a man. Hewon't be a person. No, not
at all. His hands will beagainst everyone, and everyone would be against

him. He will live in hostilityto his kens, and eventually we will
learn that Ishmael's descendants became the Arabicpeople. These cultures have been at odds
with the Jewish people for millennia andstill led it to this day. And
the descendants of Ishmael soon take ona beddoing lifestyle on the fringes of society,

committed to their personal freedom above theneed to be accepted by others.
Okay, so now let's move italong to Genesis chapter six, sixteen,
verse thirteen. And she called thename of the Lord that spake unto her,
Thou God seest me, For shesaid, have I also here looked

after him that seeth me. Hagdrecognized that the angel was in fact the
Lord, actually the God of Abraham. Hagard gave the name to the Lord
of el Roy, which means youare a god who permits himself to be
seen. It is obvious she trulyhad a wonderful revelation, but sadly and

regrettably, her self will overrode herfaith. She wanted her son Ishmael to
be the heir of promise, butthat was not to be. She would
even go as far, or goso far even as we will see,
to try to kill Isaic, andso do all who reject the cross.

Following her footsteps. In spite ofthe negative conclusion to the prophecy, Hegard
speaks of the Lord in glowing terms. She names him a god of sin,
and he saw and looked after her, and she was allowed to see

him. She appears to be rightlyastonished by the whole experience. All right,
now, let's move it along toGenesis chapter sixteen, verse fourteen,
wherefore the well was called beer Lahroi. Behold, it is between Kadish and

her astonishment and gratitude that the Lordhas seen and heard her in her distress.
Hey, God gives a commemorative nameto the well whether the Lord found
her in the desert. She callsit beer lie Heroi, which means well
of the living who sees me,putting the name of the weale together with

the mening of God's name for Hagar'sson Ishmael. The troubling events of Hagar's
life, including the powerful declaration thatGod hears Ishmael. Of course, and
God sees Barra lie Heroi. NowGod is not silent or absent. He
is paying attention, and he caresand provides. We're told the location of

the well is between Cadish and Bered, but the precise spot is currently unknown.
Abram's son Isaac later settled there fora time, according to Genesis chapter
twenty five, verse eleven. Buthistory rebels out the Anglish prophecy, for
Ishmael and his descents will become theArabic peoples. This culture will become numerous

and powerful, but will also berenowned for conflict, especially against the Jewish
people. All right, now,let's move it along to Genesis chapter sixteen,

had found her and explained the promiseshe had made to her whom. Her
running away was triggered by harsh treatmentfrom SARAHI, according to Genesis chapter sixteen,

chapter sixteen, verse four, whateverSARAHI might be thinking at this moment,
her relationship with Hagar will, itseems, never become one. In fact,
in chapter twenty one, we willsee SARAHI, by then renamed Sarah,
demand that Abram Ham cast Hagar andher son out of the family.

That's right, out of the family, according to Genesis chapter twenty one,
verses nine and ten. But anywho Abram does indeed name the boy Ishmael,
which means God hears all right now. The name certainly has meaning for
Hagar, according to Genesis chapter sixteen, verses ten through thirteen, And it

might also have sent a message toAbram and SARAHI. Through their experiment attempting
to bring about God's promise on theirown timeline, they have learned that He
was still listening, still sing,and would still keep his promises to able
in any case, It's clear boththat God was acting in the birth of

Ishmael and that through this son wouldthough this son would be blessed, he
was not the child of God's coventhe promises to Abel. Now let's move
it along to Genesis chapter sixteen,verse sixteen, last, but not least,
and Abram was fourscore and six yearsold when hey, God bary Ishmael

to Abel. Alright, now,one score equals twenty years, So twenty
years times four equals eighty plus sixyears totals eighty six years. Right now,
Abraham would yet have to visit Ohwell, uh, I don't know
what I'm saying, visit. Imean he'll have to wait some nearly fourteen

years, let's say, thirteen plusyears before the promise would be fulfilled.
Now, as previously asked, Ihave to wonder if this lapse of faith
did not prolong the waiting period forthe promise to be realized. Genesis sixteen
ends by reporting Abram's age. Atthe time Ishmael was born. God had

promised to making of Abram a greatnation and to give to him the land
of Caman. And the initial promiseshad been given when Abram was already seventy
five years old according to Genesis chaptertwelve, verse four, and the arrival
and error had not yet happened,and from a human perspective, seemed more

and more unlikely. Now, eventen years after God's further promises in Genesis
chapter sixteen, verse three, Abramand Sarah was still childless, and so
Abram at Sarah urgent attempted to movethings along through scheming and struggling on their
own, and the result was bothconflict and blessing, with the promise of

more conflict and blessing for generations tocome. Right now, Hagard immediately conceived
the sun, but was at oddswith SARAAI, and that is in the
Courses with Gens chapter sixteen, versesfour through six. All right now,
and the child was born to Sarah'sservant, Hagard was not the child of
(22:37):
Abram. Let's see, and thechild born to Sarah's servant Hagard was not
the child of Abram's covenant with God. So yeah, that's that's how that
goes, all right now, Ishmaelwould be blessed by God, but his
descendants would be forever in conflict withothers, especially their kinsmen of the descendants

of Abram. And that's according toGenesis chapter sixteen, Verses eleven and twelve.
All right, now, so ateighty six years old, Abram would
obtain a son, but not theson of promise. In fact, Abram
will wait another thirteen plus years beforeGod would reveal the details of his plans

for the next stage. All right, now, that is the next stage
of Abram's life. All right,do you have their complexion for the protection?
It is now time for our lifereflection. All right. Now,
the descendants from Hagar are included inthe promise given the Abram that his family
(23:47):
will be so large that he willnot be able to count them. We
have watched three people take and makeserious mistakes. They took serious actions and
made serious mistakes. First of allSarah, who took matters into her own
hands and gave her servant to Abram. And then that's Abram, who went
(24:07):
along with the plan, but whencircumstances began to go wrong, refused to
help solve the problem. And thirdof all hegd who ran away from the
problem. Now, in spite ofthis messy situation, God demonstrated his ability
to work in all things to bringabout good. And this is in accordance
to Romans Chapter eight, verse twentyeight. Sarai and Abram still received the
(24:32):
sun they so desperately wanted, andGod solved he God's problem, despite Abram's
refusal to get involved. So whatdoes that tell you, Well, it
tells me no problem is too complicatedfor God if we are willing to let
him help us. Alrighty, alrighty, But for now, this is what
(24:56):
the plight well, this is whatHagard flees, the plight of hey,
God is all about all right.Now, with that being said, we
would close out with prayer. HeavenlyFather Son, Holy Spirit, thank you
