Speaker 1 (00:00):
Phil and Tish.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
So we have a radio show on p BA FM
every Wednesday night's been going for about seven eight years,
seven or eight years now.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Rock Out with and We Trying Rock Yeah p b A.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
FM every Wednesday night. We are nine pm Australian Central
Standard time. We are your local insane metal heads, anything
that you love all the way from bon Jovi or
even something softer like Warrant Stronger Now all the way
through to I think we've even played Fetid Gore on
the show. So we're very much a variety show of
(00:39):
heavy and hard rock.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
I think you selling yourselves a bit short by saying
local though, because I usually got it usually national repute.
You guys. Everybody knows and loves you.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
That's all. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
We've actually got a dude in the Netherlands, got a
rock hard with filing Tish Tatoo. Yeah, which is that's
that's our plane to fame, you know.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
Yeah, not a bad looking I don't either. It come
out pretty well.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Not bad at all. I'm not doing it. Yeah, it's me,
I'll do it. But that's also good.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
But aside from the fact that you have got one
of the best radio shows in Australia. You're also about
to put on rock Hard Festival, which is going to
be the first time we've ever done it at Walsh
Woodshed in Royal Park, Adelaide over October tenth and eleventh. Like,
that's not too far awake, how's the tracking is? Is
on target?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's good? Then it's good. It's like, you know, Adelaide's Adelaide.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
So you know, we have a big, you know, booming
tickets and then it slows down and then it picks
up again.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
But we know what Adelaid's like. But now it's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
We were good mates with Ace from Woodshed, the owner
of Woodshed, and he'd been talking to us about it
for a while.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
He started talking to us about it, and then I
got pregnant and I had to spend my entirety of
my pregnancy saying Ace, let me have the baby, let
me have the baby, let me have the baby.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
And I think it was the week I was induced
to have the baby.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
He said, all right, guys, come up for an come
up for a meeting while Woodshed's closed, and we started
to finalize everything for this just a it's a pike
dream really like I never thought I would host a yeah,
a music festival, let alone. I guess we're the promoters
of it too, and it's it's.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Wild, it's good fun.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Though we've picked, they're all bands we've have relationships with
over the journey, So I think that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's bands where fans of I mean the poor I
was fourteen.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
When I got into them, and it actually annoys me
because Skin is older than me, and I'll look at
a hell of what.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
He doesn't by the age.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
But yeah, I've been a fan of them since I
was fourteen, and actually before Tisch joined the shows, about
a week before she joined the show, he was the
first interview I did where I actually reached out to
someone that I grew up enjoying their music, and I thought,
I'll shoot him a message.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
I'm going to fire a shot and see what he says.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
And a couple of weeks later he came back and
he said, yeah, I'm you know, I'd love to have
a chat.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
And chatted to him for about an now on the show.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
And because I'm such a fan these guys to meet
love when you're fourteen, they're like larger than life rock
stars and to think, you know, he's having a chat
on our show and you know, probably opened up the
courage to be able to interview other bands and stuff
that we've loved. But yeah, it's literally every band that
we've got on this festival just great bossie bands and
(03:29):
we're so stoked that they've agreed to play.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah, and absolutely apologies to all the other bands that
we haven't been able to squeeze on. We weren't able
to do a massive car park festival this year. I
think we put up the post about doing the festival
and we had probably close to, if not over one
hundred different bands we want to play, we want to play?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Can we play? And I think that's been the hardest thing.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
You know, of course you got the promoting and everything,
but yeah, I'm sure like yourself as well, you have
personal relationships with them.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Is all these bands and sitting.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
There trying to work out and curate such a killer
line up with the best we can provide was just
so difficult.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
To try to pick a favorite child, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
And there's many other favorite children that we're just gonna
get on. But we still love that.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
You guys have been doing this for a while hour
as you say, so why decide that now it is
the right time to do your own festival.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I think that was just like Adelaide for me.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
The Woodshed is such a great venue in Adelaide. You know,
as as rock metal lovers, you sort of walk in
that place and it feels like home.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
There's just the elder door.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, music from the elder door.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
When you walk in, there's you know, skid row guitars,
there's just pictures of all our all our idols sort
of growing up and going to the gigs there and
seeing the show. It was like, this is such a
great a great venue for Adelaide, and I think a
great venue for rock and heavy music in Australia, So
why not like that?
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I think that's for a perfect time.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
We've got a great venue, you know, run by you
know some of our best mates and to be able
to bring some of our favorite bands out there.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
It's just it had to happen. We had to do it.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
It had to. You mentioned that the amount of bands
you had to choose from, like, well, what's the court
process with booking and like you're lock in the headliner
and then try and find bands that will suit with
that audio. From the start, you work through regardless.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
But us the way we sort of did it. We
had I think at the time it was three potential headliners,
and then we worked out, I'm terrible at music terms,
so I'm going to use wrestling terms, so we worked
out the mid card thereafter, so you know, get your
made events there and then your mid card. The mid
card was set pretty much just after the first discussion
(05:49):
that we had, minus a couple of bands that could
have hume because of prior to obligations or family obligations,
So it was sort of what can we do that's
a variety. So Chainsaw Bridges you've got there from Adelaide.
They're a little bit more of your punk band. Then
you've got your girl and a little bit country flavor,
now with Carlie Jewel mixing your blaze as well to
(06:12):
get that really I think for me and I think
you're the same that really broad mix of all music
and Shadow Maliki and Terror Access bring in a little
bit more of a heavy side as well.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah, no, it's I think, you know, we couldn't go
super heavy with the lineup, but I reckon it's one
of those one of those shows that anyone could sort
of go to a few. If you like rock music,
if you like hard rock and metal, there's going to
be something for you. And these bands, we fucking love
every single one of them. Like That's the reason we
(06:44):
do it is because we're fans. And you know what
I want is I want people to come to this
show and they see like a band like Gentoo for
the first time, and they walk away going these guys
are amazing, and they go out and buy their by
their album, by their merchandise.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
That's the whole reason we do the radio show.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
That's the reason that we're doing this is we want
people to sort of experience those experiences that we have
with these bands.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
So I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
No look through the bands and there's probably ninety percent
of them I have heard before, and I reckon is
not like the bands you've got on in ten years time,
I can see them still being going. But in the
next level of Australian music. You have done well with
the choices.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I think a band on the list that was one
of the first I mentioned, and it is that sort
of looking at the projection of that.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
Band for me was Lon the Empire.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
There are a bunch of teenagers and to me, it's Yes,
it's a different music style, but it's it's almost akin
to the Runaways. You know, these kids wanting to take
on the world kick ass. When they're on stage. It's
like fucking Energizer bunnies. They're absolutely mental. But all I
can see for them is them being that next big
(07:58):
thing and in a couple of years they're so young
that they've got that time to build.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
That was a huge thing.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Yeah. I pretty much know the answer this one, but
I want to hear it from your mouth. Was there
ever any thoughts to an international headliner or did you
know that Ossie bands were good enough?
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Ozzie, there's hundreds good enough. You know. I think.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
We look and we love, we love international bands, and
it would be amazing to have like an international band
band headline. But this is you know, this for us,
at least this years is very much completely about people
hearing great Bossie music and that's what we're here to support.
And I could say every single band on this bill
(08:41):
will blow you away live, like it's one of those
those shows like because we've seen everyone. Yeah, we've seen
everyone on this on this line up live, but war Beds.
I haven't seen war beds yet. Sorry, I'm super excited
to see. But every single band here know how to
work a crowd. They're you know they're going to play.
(09:03):
They play it like it's a stadium, so.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
I can't wait.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
No, it's it's awesome.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
I think maybe the only international and it's a we're
going to take them and claim them as Aura and
would be Phil's band Devil Skin probably the closest, you know,
because we can't help it here in Australia and go
oh yeah, double Skin and then you're oh, ship, no,
hang on throwing them back over.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
And walking you got that key accidents not hours go back.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
That's what we do with it. We claim everyone from
the New Zealand the two with the Likes.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I only actually saw The Poor about three days ago
and they're they're on fire and the new base player
squ is fucking good. Like I thought it was going
to take a lot to replace money, which you will. Yeah, yeah,
he was pretty bloody good.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Their last album is It's amazing, such a roturn to formula.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I think that that's a great thing about The Poor
is you know they're not a band who like they're
just energized.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
You can you can hear that the passions there and
they kick ours lives.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
We saw Skinny a couple of weeks weeks ago with
the Filthy Animals came down by Dave Leslie's.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
That was the best.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
What a son cannot wait? And this is super exciting
as well. This is like my child with dream. We
have a brewer doing a rock hard festival beer that's
going to be canned and keyed, yeah, for the for
the event, and the brewery is being o evil who
Adelaide Brewery who are very much they combined metal with
(10:40):
their big metal heads metal beer. They produce some of
the best beers in Australia, some of the highest rated
beers in Australia, and they asked if they could get
on board and do a rock hard festival beer six.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Point West Coast I pas exclusive and then looking at
going and make so people can buy it and take
home our little devilish face.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
I really can, right, And it's smart from you guys too,
because actually drink writers covered for all the bands, So aren't.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
It absolutely the great?
Speaker 6 (11:12):
That look I don't know if you're a drinking creepy
amazing So I can't wait to I can't wait to
have a try that.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Because I've gotta have variety, Right, you're a lady.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
I don't know about both of those ones.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Speaking of the pool, you've got them headlining both nights
on the Friday or the Saturday light. You do know
that you're going to have to sign one person is
skiiny for Friday night to make sure he gets some
sleep before Saturday.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
There's at wood Shed.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
There's like these tiny little levels above the bar and
across from the bar. I'm thinking we may have to
lay out like a little mattress and the swagons.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Dude, get up there. We'll bring you back freezing in
the morning all.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Nights, ushering him to the door. If if I come,
I'll do that for you. I'll take that on.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Perfect, We'll just get you like a T shirt like
skinny person behinder.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yes, I love it would be brilliant.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
So I'm on that subject. I think, I hope I'm
righty it. But it was originally only going to be Saturday.
That he added the Friday as well, So why decide
to have the poor headline both nights to grab another
headliner in because we love them?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah? Like, and you know what they're coming down to
our late for it as well. We want to make
it worth their while as well. And I love, absolutely
love seeing these guys live, and it was a really
good opportunity for us to give them a second sort
of headliner show. And you know, it was also a
good excuse to bring on my Audio Rain and More
(12:49):
Birds and the Empire because Audio Rain, you know, if
you haven't seen them live before, they are a ripping
live band.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
They're actually the first band I believe that I had.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
In the studio for an interview, which would have been
back in like twenty eighteen. So it's it's kind of
cool to have the first band we had in the
studio for an interview and also the first band that
I reached out to directly to have a chat with,
So lit.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
The Audio Raid one still probably one of your longest too,
because Jake doesn't fucking shut up, doesn't he He can talk,
that bastard.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
We loved, We love Jake.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
He's so cool because we we'd sort of we had
planned the Friday gig for a while and I was
just like, Jake.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
You can't say and he's like when when when?
Speaker 2 (13:32):
And we're like, just chill, we'll put it out there. Eventually,
but no, we couldn't have done it without without you know,
obviously having Audio Rain one of the best Aussie hard
rock bands is definitely want to assis South Asie bands.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
As well, so they put on a crack and show
it's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Now I don't know the exact figures, but I do
know what I was looking through it too. You is,
you're selling single day tickets for a weekend tickets. But
the best part I saw about that was the single
tickets if you brought to or there, it wasn't much
less much more than if you've got a whole weekend past.
So yeah, I think it's five dollars different, so you
may as well get the whole weekend.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
And definitely, and you know, if we're being realistic where
people who go to gigs outside of our radio show
where normal have to work nine to five jobs, I
think a huge thing was having a stellar lineup and
having it as accessible as possible. You know, it's not
(14:29):
where you have to go or typically I'm not you know,
not painting everyone the same brush, but you wouldn't typically
I for a lineup like this, and the pricing of
our tickets need to go all right, I've got to
say up.
Speaker 5 (14:39):
Whereas other acts.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Even though he's my favorite singer of all time, charging
one hundred dollars for a small room, yeah, for one
forty five minute show, whereas with US, you get you know,
is it eleven or twelve incredible different bands, almost half
of them in South Australian. It's I think if I
wasn't US, I would have snapped up tickets straight away.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Yeah, there's also a deal, I believe the T shirt.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yes, so you get like a sexy Zombi fire two headed.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Why did you headed?
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Man?
Speaker 2 (15:19):
I've been drinking and which is actually annoying because I
didn't know you were going to.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
Have I'm having because I'm so nervous being on the
other side from.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Drinking water with a winning the poop blast the metal.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
But I don't know why. It just got stuck on
my head. It's going to be like a zombie two
headed version of us. And T was like, that's stupid. Now,
just let's do it. Let's do it, and we we
got this this dude on in Indonesia. I'm fiver in
Indonesia to put it together, and it's such a cool
(15:56):
it's going to be like on the T shirt, it's
going to be.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
We're going to do some stubby holders.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
We're also going to have that as the it's going
to be the can design. With being all evil, the
only thing is right. He's taken photos of us, and
this is the bit that that message with my head
a little bit. He's taken photos and if you look
at the photo, I've got a I've got a really
big move. So so he's looked at he's looked at
the picture of me and he's like, he's got ample
(16:24):
titty space. He he has, he's given He's giving me
a tit and I'm like, I can't.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
I can't argue it because I kin'd.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Of That's the breast part of it.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I was thinking maybe it's my pictorial muscles, but it's
definitely you did it a great job.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
If you need anything, if you're a band of business, anything,
reach out to him on Instagram. His handle is actually
just Indonesian Artists incredible job.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Cool Now. We spoke about this a little bit before,
but not only putting on Australia you are the best
metal hard rock festival. You guys also do have a
weekly radio show from nine till midnight on every Wednesday
night on pp AFM eighty nine point seven. So tell
us about that, Like when did you start it, what's
your goal with it?
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Like, yeah, I started, Yeah, I started back in I Reckon.
It was twenty eighteen and it was just a one
hour show and did it every Saturday avough. Then I
got offered the every Saturday afternoon. Then I got offered
a three hour slot on Wednesday nights. I started doing it.
Tish had done Australian Radio School through Sean Craig Murphy
(17:33):
at Triple In, which I've done a few years before that,
and I saw a photo of her and she had
a she had a youth gone wild tatoo. She had
at the time completely balled youth gone wild tatoo. And
I reached out to Sean and like watch Tish, like,
you know, because I'd like to get a co host.
He's like, she's she's mad. Yeah, So got her on
(17:55):
board and then yeah, we've been doing it now for
like I said, seven years or so.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
It's been awesome.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Man. We get to play the whole reason in the
same way as a festival. We do it because we
love music and we want people to have those experiences
with the songs that we have because we're just massive
music fans and along the way we've been able to
interview some of our.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Absolute heroes Australian internationally.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
You know, if someone said to me when I started
this show that we would have the opportunities that we've
had based on it, it's yeah, I wouldn't have thought it.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
We got married as well, oh yeah, we met, got married,
but that's nothing.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
The number one highlight is still this festival with the poor.
Not for your radio boys, you know that, Yeah, exactly right.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
You know.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
For me, it was I and I hate to say
the line, but I'm one of those people that it's
like born in the wrong generation. Although I think if
I was born earlier and grew up in the eighties,
I probably would have died by the time it got
to live ninety two.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I wouldn't have survived.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
But myigest stream since I was about fifteen sixteen years old,
I wanted to be Ricky Rackman. I wanted to be
head bangers Ball, That's all I wanted to do. So
radio for me was like, Okay, MTV is a load
of shit. Now, can't really do much. I was trying
to do stuff on a YouTube platform. Can't really do
(19:19):
much on there with music because of all the copyright
and everything, which is fair enough. Bands need to own
their music or production companies and record companies need to
own their music and get their money.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
So it was sort of like okay radio.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
I went to a.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Steel Panther concert.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
The morning after that, I was sat in after partying
with them at Frankie's. I sat in Terminal twenty three
in Sydney Airport and my friend's like, you're applying to
Australian radio school and that was it. You reached out
to me, and I think within our first phone call
the following day, it was like did we just become
best friends?
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Like it was?
Speaker 1 (19:55):
It was?
Speaker 3 (19:56):
It was, though, it was like so instit. Straight away
you were like, what's your favorite song? Mine's wanted generalized
by bomb job and I would no, Sharp Minds wanted
generalized by bomb Jovi.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
CD. Though doesn't it.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
I'm not going to highlight that bit of the interview
and just make sure that goes out.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Do you know what we named ourselves, Richie.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
We don't lose any credit.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
But it was, you know, as soon as as our
show started building and we started finding out we have
listeners in the Netherlands and England and New Jersey. I
think we've had listeners before in South America as well.
That was huge to me because it was like, Okay,
this was my goal was to be on a platform
(20:41):
where I share music I love. I'm sharing Australian bands
with people legitimately the other side of the world, and
it's built from there and I think, my I don't
know about you, but my long term goal, I guess,
and the direction I want the show to go in
is to you just become that premiere hard rock, heavy
(21:05):
metal show, the place that bands want to be interviewed.
Speaker 5 (21:08):
Like the Dreadful Tides.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
We were the.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
First radio show and they ever reached out to and
that was a huge honor to give them a little
jump start. You know.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
I'd love it if it was behind the music.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
And they talked to us and we're like, yeah, this
band doesn't talk to us anymore.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
They're super big, but we.
Speaker 7 (21:24):
Gave them their first job, and for me, I'd love
it if we could maybe branch into and we've discussed
this with Ace of woodshed is Fill and Tish Presents,
which would be your one off shows. So for the
sake of the argument, mammal, bring them down because they're killer.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Play them at woodshed and look at building.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
I guess the live stuff now because for so long
of our show, in particular, you know, I joined in
June twenty nineteen, so for so long of our show
it was everything's inside, everyone's shut down.
Speaker 5 (21:59):
So to take it out on a live arena would
be huge.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Nice. I see the show is actually recorded live as well.
Like that's a bit dangerous, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Yeah, it is happy.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
We've always we've always done the show live. It's it's funny.
I reckon that. The lady you get, the looser it gets,
so once ad is that all the more time we
are and we.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Just play a song. But yeah, it's it's more fun
doing it live. I reckon that.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
The first show I did, I was going to a
fully game, and this is when it was the one
hour show, and I pre recorded it and I'd stuff
up the introl all the time, So you just keep
replaying it, and it's like, he cares, it's fine if
you stuff up your stuff up.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
I think I'm the only one who said fuck out
of the two of us on the show. And that
I blamed Phil for because he called me the day
after I had surgery. Although the day I had surgery,
so I'm off my head on like morphine and painting
blockers and everything.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
He's like, hey, on, what.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
You into that? What's what's the funniest worst thing to
happen to you guys? Live on the Mango?
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Oh yeah, we interviewed Mango from a Blaze and.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Everything went wrong. I didn't think we were going on air.
I didn't know what was happening.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
And then we we finally got off the interview after
it just me running away every five seconds. I thought
something had happened and it just wasn't going to air,
And then I forgot to turn the microphone off and
we're yeah, I'm so sorry, this is such so much
blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
That was the worst thing live I reckon. I'm going
to have to mention, no, you don't. Life of Agony.
Life of Agony my favorite band. Right.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
We interviewed Keith Capudo, who's my favorite singer of my
favorite band.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
It's something that was my dream.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
We got to We interviewed Joey Z, the guitarist last
year which was made got to interview Keith Caputo and I.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
We couldn't get into.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
The radio studio, so we did it over whatsappened, did
a video recording and everything and I left. I left
to organize the the all the technical side of things.
An hour and a half interview and it was fucking epic.
It was fucking epic. None of the audio recorded none,
(24:25):
it was just so we've got video, We've got great
evident man.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
I was stated, we're almost divorced.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Canceled because we first canceled each other.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Yeah, there's been there's been a lot of mistakes, a
lot of stuff ups. But you know a lot of time.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
As well, did you guys? You've done a lot on
the radio, but just mainly champion the course of Australian music,
which is great. So how do was her bands getting
contact with you if they want to be part of
the show.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
There's a few ways, man, like just Facebook, that's probably
the one of the easy space. Send us a message
on Facebook rock Hard with filing t ish, or you
can email us any MP three's or is it web files?
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Wait that one.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
You can email us at Rockcard we feel at gmail
dot com.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
But Facebook is.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
The best because we've found over the journey. Using Instagram
x is what it's called now and email Facebook we
actually get a notification, we actually know you're there, whereas
with Instagram, and we do apologize when it happens, but
it goes into the requested files sometimes and we miss it.
(25:36):
And emails, especially Gmail, Gmail does my head in. It
is a circus, so sometimes you will get missed. But
if you message us on Facebook, we can then go yeah,
cool point of contact.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
But you know what we don't Honestly, we don't give
a shit if you've got fucking two followers or two million.
Like the end of the day, good music's good music,
and we want to be able to give a platform
to anyone like you know, as small as that for
me is from us. You know, if we can potentially
have a few extra people listen to your music and
go out and buy it, then that's what we're doing
(26:08):
it for fantasy.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
How about rock hard Festival? Where do people go to
get chances for that?
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Ostisticks sticks osticks head over there, do yourself a favorite,
get yourself the full weekend and T shirt bundle. You'll
look sexy while you're listening to some incredible Bands's copy yes,
and drink amazing beer. It's going to be awesome. Look, honestly,
this is this is round one. This is the first
(26:33):
one ever, you know, speaking of bands reaching out to us,
a pipe dream that I've had is that we will
maybe even look at doing about all the bands to
work out who plays next year a little bit. Even
if it's a online one. Everyone plays, you know, they're
sat and we play it on our Facebook. People will
reach out. But this is step one and it's an
honor that we even get to do this starting from
(26:55):
a small community radio show.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
It's it's huge.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Definitely not tickets fine early because it is selling really
well at the moment and we don't want you to
miss out. And there's going to be some without saying
too many details, there's going to be some pretty cool
Aussie rock royalty that will be in the crowd.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
As well, just lives there, a traveling guests, a couple
of traveling guests.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Yes we will, and there might be a controversial King
of AFL football in the crowd as well.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
But we should we should actually try and sort out
that one who does work and live in Adelaide. That's
not a bad idea.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
He's on the list and we're inviting the Premier of
South Australia, Peter Milleners. Guess if you're listening to this millionaire,
you're invited. You've done so much for entertainment in this state.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
But that's going to be I'm just I just can't
wait for it to be done and for it to
all come together, and we're going to have some some
fun sort of giveaways and games and stuff.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
And I just thought of an idea.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
People, if you have a beard, we should do the
best colored beard contest, so die your beards were doing that.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
The Devil Skin Lookalike contest. Now I'm not finished with
you guys yet, So before I let you go, I've
got a new segment. I started with heavy Card photo Bomb.
So basically I trolled through your social media before we
chat a couple of photos I want to know a
little bit more about.
Speaker 8 (28:26):
So this one here, like I don't know what's in
the air down there in Adelaide, but a high portion
of your photos have all got your sticking your tongues
out like you've got that one.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Like you have to do it in the individually there.
And then you've got this one where a photo your
tongues are out.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
So for me, I blame essentially Jeane Simmons and then
my father.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
My dad as soon as he saw kiss on the
telly when he was a kid and he saw Jean
with the tongue out and then the blood dripping out
of the mouth, was like, Yep, that's my new gimmick.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
I'm going to put my tongue out and medal horns
all the time.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
So I kind of.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Developed from this one to this one and then I
just went, yeah, that'd does that.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
I'm a child, and then it just grew.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Young actually, like I'm knaving on a lie. I don't
even notice. I'll do it too, I know. Always there
were ones because I feel I feel awkward.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
I feel like I.
Speaker 5 (29:26):
Think I don't with my handstats. Now it's not so
much like awkward.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
It's a love it had. I always do that, but
I don't really.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
You do that a hell of a buddy line.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Maybe I'm just I'm going to do this from now
you Chrispy, never do it again.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Done.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Speaking of Blady gave me the perfect segue there, because
these guys obviously what the contest to meet is.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
So we ran that contest through just that was that
was one of the biggest dreams come true. And my
little viral TikTok moment was meeting Kiss and getting my
old man to meet Kiss. So we have the privilege
of interviewing Doc mcgehan. If you are listening to this
and you know Heavy magazine, I'm sure you know Doc McGhee,
(30:16):
But for those of you who don't know, I think
the likes of bon Jovi, my favorite band in the
entire world, skid Row, Motley Crue, and later in their
career Kiss. That's when Doc comes into the fold, and
Phil again was drinking email.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
He went through I think LinkedIn or.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Something ridiculous and found in McGinn entertainment email sent an email.
Doc was like, yeah, cool, done, we'll interview. We could
have spoken to him for about four hours.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
We had COVID at the time as well, where you
couldn't leave. Yeah, like we found out the night before.
I'm like, oh shit, so we're doing it at home.
Luckily the audio recorded for this one. But yeah, then
we already had tickets. And then he offered us.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
Yeah, he said to me, give me a call when
I land in Adelaide, and I'm like, okay, cool, I'll
keep an eye out on all the winery tours, and
I'll keep an eye out on the flights coming in.
Speaker 5 (31:09):
And I went, all right, he's landed. And we worked
together in the same building at the time, and I
was like, so, what's your friend. I need to call Doc.
I need to cool Doc. Let me call him. I
was like a little.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Bunny like freaking out and I ray him and he went, hello,
this is Dark and I went, hey, Dark, it's.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Titch and he went, Titch, baby, how.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Are you doing?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
And I'm there like, don't pass out. Don't pass out
because Doc McGee's kind of remembered who you are. And
I was like, oh, hey, man, you said to us
reach out so we could catch up before the show
or whatever.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
He's like, yeah, yeah, cool.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
How many d you need? I was like, is there
any chance I could bring my dad? My dad saw
Kiss when he was either eleven or twelve for the
first time. It was the nineteen eighty one tour just
stopped Creatures. And then he's been the biggest Kiss fan
I know, I mean, not as big as me. I
have Jean's face tattooed on my body, but he's one
of the biggest Kiss fans. Ever, so week we've got
(31:58):
the like little shrine.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
I said to him, can I bring my dad please?
Speaker 3 (32:02):
And he goes, yeah, it's all about family, bring your dad, Okay, awesome.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
I went.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
We went into a meeting room and I rang dad
and our football team just got knocked out of the finals.
Speaker 5 (32:12):
It was all shit. So I rang him and I
was like, hey, can you finish? Can you finish work
early tomorrow? He goes yeah. Well I'm like, do you
want to meet Kiss? And he went, oh, fucking yeah,
right a lot.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
My dad's really awkward.
Speaker 5 (32:25):
Fuck yeah, I'd love to make kids. Then Phil's filming
it chucked down on TikTok.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
That went viral week like a few days later, We're
at Adelaide Entertainment Center and we walk up and he
was like, I'm not saying. I'm like, I have no shame.
He's a multi millionaire. He's given us something I don't care.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
So I'm all up.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
I'm like, hi, my guess of Doc.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
McGee and the ladys, Oh yes, you're the only ones
on this package.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Come on in.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
So we went through. We were in the body line.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I think it's a botty line. Bardner, that's the Cricket Bar,
the Nashville Bar. We were in Sinking the Piss with
Sarah McLeod after the super he is sad.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
She was great. Then we were lined up to meet.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
And then we saw the acoustic Walnut with Kiss went
over Matt doc He is one of the most lovely,
humble time for everyone.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
People I've ever met. And then we're in the lineup
to meet Kiss.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
You met Danny Francis, fullest security guy in the history
of eighties rock and metal.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
He did a book years ago.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
He was bon Jovi's head of security during the Slippery
Jersey tours.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
It was.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Led Zeppelin, Bad Company and Kiss and he did this
amazing book.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Is on all the Jovie videos back in the day.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
So but to meet him, just our music Piece festival.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
He stopped Motley Crue getting murdered by bon Jovi because
Molly Crue are the little Sunset strip boys and bon
Jovi are the big hard Italian Instagram.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
But yeah, it was a fucking cool That's that's probably
one of the big highlights Oregon.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
I think that the main thing I learned about you
guys looking through your photos. Some pretty cool beau. But
you've also known some people with absolutely fantastic taste, like
I found. This is just two of them, just to
just to show you. Look at the shirt store wearing.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
Look it's Phil Jr.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
That's about who it is. Look at the shirt store wearing.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
Yeah we do.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
That's an awesome man. No, they're fucking legends. And how
cool is Paul Martin. I've definitely got the inspiration from
him with the beard.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Yours is so you're a lot taller than Paul, but Paul's.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
Beard is a lot bigger. Come on, Yeah, you're album
to Actually when we're talking, Devil Skin blew me away.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Oh dude, I don't know how they do it, but
they get better at every record.
Speaker 8 (34:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Now they're they're amazing, such a such a great and
great people as well. And you know, Paul's been so
kind with his time to us and again like you know,
we're like, fucking hell man, you devile skin.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
You Paul, like you're talking to us.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
We went to New Zealand just punters. He was like,
where are you going? What are you going to be there?
I'm going to try and book my bike trip around
you guys being there so we can hang like he.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
Was just so right. When that shit open't you know
you're doing something right. Anyway, it's good, it's.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
A lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
And yeah, we love Rachel as well, like oh riche's nuts,
he's so cool.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Well, speaking of fun and getting the motivate music, you
guys are putting on the first ever rock Hard Festival
October ten October the eleventh in Adelaide. There's still a
couple of tickets left. You get the poor both nights,
you get the cream of Australian music. So congratulations to
these guys and keep on.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Thanks so much man, and thanks for the chat.
