Penta has finally made his long awaited debut in WWE and what a debut it was! And Kenny Omega is finally back on AEW TV! are sitting down to sharp shoot the shit. Last week
we were back celebrating the new year, ringing in the
new Netflix WWE era and since then, it's crazy.

It's only been a week, but a lot has happened.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
We've got new champions, We've got returning superstars, We've gotten
debuting superstars. We've got superstars on shows we didn't know
they'd be showing up at a lot going down. Danielle,
what is up?

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Hey? What's going on? I know this year is coming
in with a bang. It's a lots going on, a
big bang. A lot of stuff's happening a lot of
stuff's going on, and I'm here for it.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
No, last week, like even before the Ron Netflix, they
ended the year with Tiffany Stratton taking us into Tiffy time,
you know, so her and in fact, Ria Ripley then
starts the year off winning the championship on Raw. So
we kind of go into the year with two brand

new women's champions on that side, and you know what,
let's just get into the nitty gritty courtesy of last
week n XT, we've got we've got some new women's
champion as well.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Yeah, they just they just switched all the women up.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Everyone's going a lot of miss a lot of changing
pieces going there, and and Roxane Perez moves on.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
In fact, I'm sorry, that wasn't last night, that.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Was last week, right, Juli became our champion last week
last night and Bailey a little Yeah, I mean I
was excited until they ran out of time and the
service ended. Yeah, that was super weird.

I like, obviously I went on the interwebs after and
I was like, oh, let me look up what happened,
because obviously someone has something that we can find. But yeah,
it was just weird that I just cut off like that.
But that's weird with Raw too, Like Raw took me
back to me by surprise that it was only two
and a half hours this week. I was like, oh,
we're ending early.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Oh and then the the funny thing is the rumors
are that Penta apparently went over his time and they
had they had to remove time away. It's like, how
does that? Like? First off, that doesn't even make sense
on an hour show. Also, Triple H was literally saying
to us like, Oh, we're not gonna have the times
constrands we have with TV, like because Netflix, if we

have to go three hours, we can go three hours,
you have to go four. We have to go.

To whatever we want.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
You assume that means that since all that's gonna happen
is they're just gonna take us to a blank Netflix
screen where we now gotta go to the homepage and
decide we're watching next. Like I don't really so I
don't buy that Personally. I think it's just rumors and
celliiness that doesn't really make sense.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Yeah, but I think people just try to like justify
what happens with like, oh, yeah, they went over time,
Oh they went this. You remember when Undertaker lost a
brock lessnar people were making up all sorts of shit,
Like people just have to make up rumors and like
excuses for things.

And like, the only thing I could think of is
if despite the fact of like, yeah, maybe they don't
have to end the show at a certain time, there
is a possibility that maybe they need to get to
a commercial at a certain time, that maybe like those
ad breaks are still scheduled that they have to happen
at a certain time. Also, the fact is that you're

still like they're still scheduling their show in a sense
of they want something to happen at the top of
the hour, right, you know, So like there's also maybe
maybe it's getting lost in translation where pent didn't go
over causing anyone to actually like where they had like
the show was gonna go over time, but at the
same time, they did need to take time away from

this so that this spot hit its mark at nine
o'clock or nine to thirty, or that this commercial didn't
interrupt this promo that you know what I mean, these
are just the things we don't know, So I'm trying
to take that into account in regards to where the
rumors came from.

You know, I say, if there's smoke, there is usually
fire somewhere. But everything I'm reading says there's zero heat
on them, so that's good. And obviously there's zero heat
on Julia because we've got ourselves a new NXT women's champion,
very excited about this new era for NXT.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
NXT has so much talent on that show, Like it's
ridiculous how much talent is on that show, and it's
really amazing. How Like, I just love watching it because
it's almost like we watch all these stars progress from
the indies onto NXC. I mean, it's been that way
forever and NXT is still NXT hit some rough patches,
but now like it's top tier in my opinion. I
love everybody on those shows.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, and it's just it's in a such a interesting
period because we've got the new signings like Stephanie, like Julia,
and then at the same time we've got the crop
of superstars that have kind of been inn NXT for
a minute for example, and we'll talk about it in

(06:16):
just a minute, but our now former NXT champion Trick Williams. Yeah,
I feel like around this time last year, you know,
he was fishing up his feud with Carmelo. Carmelo was
already kind of on the main roster, getting prepared to
be a permanent member. Trick Williams was kind of being
handed the reins of NXT, getting ready to become champion,

getting too ready to become that locker room leader, the
face that runs the place. To borrow something from aj Styles. However,
fast forward a year. My money is on Trick Williams
making a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble and probably
becoming a full fledged member, if not right after the
Royal Rumble, i'd say a main roster, remember night after Yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Think he'll get called up. Do we still say call up? Yeah?
Well we're back to that, right, I think he'll get
called up. Well.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Well, it's interesting because I was gonna make a point
that our new uh NXT World Heavyweight Champion, Obafemi has
already made it in a recent interview. I saw where
he understands that NXT is developmental and the way they
haven't constructed it will be developmental. But he does still
feel like right now with the current crop, with the
moving pieces, and let's just say, because you know, Trick

(07:29):
Williams is still in the roster, so let's not take
away for any of their superstars for progressive call ups.
He does think that with this roster they should be
considered and could be considered a third brand, similar to
what we saw back in the Black and Gold era.

Yeah, I can see that Obafemi being new champ. I
am for this so I love so much. I know,
I told you when I went to that show, Like
the crowd just fucking loves him, like they would go
to war for this man. He's like there general, I
am obsessed with him. I've been upset with him since
he debuted. I'm so happy he's NXT GYM. Don't get

me wrong. I love Trick Williams, but like, obviously this
is the progression that he'll go to Raw SmackDown. But like,
I am so excited for Obra Femi.

Like, you're not supposed to hold the NXT championship forever,
You're supposed to hold it to the long as you
need to.

Exactly right, I'm I'm so looking forward to that. I
love everything about this.

Yeah, And it's also it's one of those things where
like if we if we rewind back a few months
and me and you were kind of wondering, like, wow, awesome,
Ethan Page became an XT champion, but wait then he
lost it again, so quick back to Trick Williams.

We're kind of wondering why.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
And my guess is at some point they're like, Okay,
we've made Ethan Paige. We've established him right now, his
presence an XT.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
That's cool. We can do what we want with him.

We can keep him here and still make him a face,
I mean a presence, you know, a face yawn there,
or we call him up to the main roster because
we know he's ready. But we get the belt on
Trick and now we've got the guy to drop it
to Oba Fan, creating a fucking monster NXC superstar, right.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
I also feel that what they do the NXT Championship
is like the final boss before you go to Raw
and SmackDown, Like when you get that, like oh it's time.
Not like we said with Ethan Page. Ethan Page tried
to get that because he just came in. He's established.
He you know, he was hot at that moment. And
then they put it back to Trick because now Trick
was moving to Raw SmackDown, so obviously they wanted to

have him on the belt because the belt, that's that's
like your parting gift, like you pass it on, you're
passing the torch before you move on.

Right, exactly.

Yeah, Obafemi's just so ready and it's fact. You want
to just make a quick correction to something I said
a while ago where I was like, Oba Femi is
what I wish or what I think a lot of
us kind of wish and wanted Omas to be. However,
after watching omasen knew japan O Mas is that you

kind of just have to use him like Omas is
killing an Japan. I love the way he's being used
over there, like yes, put him in a tag team
with an experienced time flyer. Let him be the monster
that just throws people around power bombs that make my
back hurt just watching him.

Did you did you see that interview with the interviewer
where he was a wrestler. I love that It's like.

This, well no, because at first he just sees him
and I think the aura got him where he's kind
of like, are you famous?

And then a woman walks past and she was an American,
so I assume she recognized.

And then of course the first thing you ask a
seven foot six guy or however Tolia is well you

Oba Femi is actually what I wish Apollo Cruise was.
That's what I wish, Like, this is what my Apollo
cruise should be.

I mean, the interesting thing about Oba Femi is that
he's also from Nigeria, So I mean the possibilities of
like a grant that I don't know if they ever
would do this. I don't even know if we'd actually
want it to. O Femi and Omas tag team just
seems like the most destructive pair that could ever be

put together in in like dog like who's touching them?

I kind of meant like Omas was underwhelming.

We didn't really know, like the all the hype was there,
You've got this monster, but we didn't.

Him, And so with Obafemi, like all of a sudden,
it's like, oh, well, this is what you're supposed to
be doing with him.

I mean with Apollo Cruise. Apollo Cruise is awesome.

They just need to use him.

They're using him backstage in like weird little where he's
he's like the voice in the ear of people like, yo,
did you see that? They're calling him what Apollo snitch
or something like you know. So, like I just wish
they'd get him back in the ring.

That'd be nice. Maybe an Apollo Cedric tag team.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
I wouldn't mind, Yeah, give me something, but yeah, Obafemi,
I'm on this this rain, I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
The only thing that was weird and perhaps they just
wanted to keep us on our toes, but the way
he won it where so it was a triple threat
him versus Trick versus Eddie Thorp, and obviously I'm assuming
that Eddie Thorpe is only there to take the pinfall,
but no Trick Williams takes a pitfall, and so I
kind of wonder why even put ay Thorpe in there.

(12:39):
If the plan all along was for Oba to actually
pin our champion. Perhaps that's just there to set Eddie
Thorp up as a future contender will Trick Williams as
as we said, probably, I truly don't think we should
see Trick on an XT anymore because if you bring
it back to XT, he has to fight Obafemi again
and that means we have to see him lose again,
and I just don't even know if it's necessary. I

keep him off TV and like I said, surprise will
Rumble appearance and just hope, hope that crowd below the
roof off the place with those with the trick chance.

Yeah, I whoop. That trick thing is so weird to me,
but it works.

Like I just I just feel like, when is the
Royal February seventh, first February February, first.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
First day of February. Okay, so yeah, so like it
would have been right now We've got so.

Like half a month of not seeing Trick Williams is solid.

Half a month I see him.

Yeah, like if you see him like the week before
the Royal rumble and then his surprise just won't hit
as much. But if you kind of like if you know,
a few weeks go by, no mention of him, no, no, no.
Hearing that theme song, the the.

Tony D'Angelo thing is a little weird for me. I
think it's weird that he beat obey I I don't
there's for some reason, he's not believable as a threat
to Obami to me. I don't know why, but there's
just something about not that he's a bad wrestler. I
like him, I like his character, I like everything about him.
It's just for me. I don't find him as a
threat for Obafemi. And it's weird that they play well.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
That was why they had to go to the next
level with the story that they told when they did it,
where they kind of basically did like the story from
Rocky and literally had them like actually doing word for
a word like those scenes, the vignettes like. That's why
they really spent months giving him the kind of Italian
stallion story of can you slay the Beast? Oh?

I finally did it?

Speaker 3 (14:32):
You know, Adrian, we did it. And also keep in mind,
since NXT is developmental, much like Obafemi as our world champion,
eventually somebody in NXD, probably somebody that's already there, is
going to have to be a believable person to take
him down, right, And so with Obafemi being the North
American champion, it was even more we knew that he

had to lose it, even if not for main roster
to get here, right, you know, kind of similar to
the Gunther cities, I knew.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
You were gonna say that because I was just gonna
say that.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
I was like kind of like a yeah, well, because
it's very much reminding me where like, and this is
another reason going back where I just really didn't think
Sammy Zayin was the right guy to do it. But
like Sammy Zain de Thrones, Gunther is the one guy
after how many challengers to finally take him down. But
then months later, when Gunther is our world champion, Sammy

doesn't seem like a really believable contender at all. None
of us thought he had a shot of doing that.
And I suppose in a similar bass that if Chad
Gable was the guy that take the title from Gunther.
We I don't know that we'd suddenly be thinking he
could defeat gut there for the World every championship. So
the truth is when you go from a mid car
championship and almost immediately we're talking like two months and

you're now world champion, it's a difficult situation because you
did just get beat.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
Right, and and someone like Sammy, like you said, like
a Sammy a contender to become champion now because he
beat gun once before, And what does it matter if
it's if it's the WWE Championship or the Intercontinental Championship,
Like it's very yeah, it's a very thin line of.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Them, and it's just and it's like, don't get me wrong,
Sammy's aye should be world a contender like that. But
the fact of the matter was that, like Gunther was
just wanted. So we're already in our mind like, well,
Gunther's gonna hold this for a minute, and then Sammy
comes in, well I just beat you, even though I
also just lost the title that I beat you for,
I beat you, you know, it's like it's so that also,

(16:29):
so it's like I do like I do, like Tony D'Angelo,
I'm a fan of Oh no, I like him. I
have nothing and I did not mind, like I was
a fan of this, of all the effort they took
to actually make him a believable challenger for Obafemi. Now
once again, now here they are. They can't keep themselves.

(16:50):
They can't wait any longer. Now they got to give us.
The interactions for Tony D'Angelo is like, hey, I beat you,
so now we're like, okay, in the future, maybe he's
coming in rich Holland with the attacks, We're like, okay,
Rich Hollin's gonna take on Obafemi. As I said, Eddie
Thorpe didn't get pinned in that triple threat, so they
are kind of sprinkling contenders around. It'd be very interesting

(17:13):
to see when Ethan Page wants to get his hands
back on the title, if he or if he waits
in traditional Heal fashion, waits for Obafemi to drop that title,
like I don't want any of that monster.

Yeah, I don't want that either, No, No.

Thing that was interesting The Rock was in NXT, a surprising,
you know, very cool appearance from The Rock. Obviously not
as surprising because his daughter, of course runs the show
and we knew he'd come out with a promo. You know,
we knew what The Rock was gonna do. However, I
did not expect Ethan Page and The.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Rock to have a segment together.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
Page I'm pretty sure. I'm ninety nine percent sure that's
Ethan Page's all time favorite wrestlers. So he probably was
like peeing his pants because that's how I would have
been like yeah, So he was probably yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
And it's just I'm so happy for Ethan Page. And
for the most part, a lot of times in segments,
especially like this when Rock kind of just comes back
on a happy, go lucky Smiley tour, a lot of
the wrestlers that work with him, as cool as it is,
a lot of times they're kind of comedy feeder to him.
Right A lot of times they have to be the
butt of the joke and the Rock is shining like
a diamond. That's not what we got.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Here, and it wouldn't have fit here.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Also, because Ethan Page is very serious in NXT, and
we know he can be very funny. We know he
has personality and he does it all the time with
his point and his smile, but he's also very serious.
Right now, he's in the most heated NXT rivalry currently
going with Jovon Evans right now. Yeah, so I love
the way he was presented here. Granted the Rock can

help himself. Had to slap Ethan Page on the tush
as he's leaving, you know right, I'm sure those cheeks
are just tough, tough to resist, and The Rock just
was doing it for as long as he could, probably
thought the camera was off him.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
Uh but but no a slap aside.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I really just loved everything about this, and I love everything.
It's what keeps me excited about how WWB us Ethan Page.
We've seen him work with cmpunk, We've seen him work
with The Rock, We've seen him be champions, we've seen
him be very protective. As I said, his feud, a
non title program has the most steam credit to both

(19:29):
men him and I love that. But he's but but
also Pages bringing the heat like you know, bringing the heat,
being a heel. I wouldn't mind him showing up in
the Royal Rumble too. I don't know if I'm putting
my money on, I don't know how many NXT people
will get in the Royal Rumble this year, but I
would love an Ethan Page appearance. That'd be fun.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
Yes, yes, yes, I want that so bad. Yes, and
then I'll be really sad I wasn't there because I
was there for the past two years and now I'm
not to be there. I'd be very upset.

Jordan Grace has to be in the Royal Rumble again, right.

No, the probably new TNA Women's Knockout champion will probably be.

So, Masha, we saw her in NXT.

We saw in XT yesterday, so you're right, there's a
very good chance that we do get her in the
Royal Rumble. We also might get her, you know, just
flat out not doing the Royal Rumble.

Maybe just flat out coming to NXT and having a match.

With Julia or you know, we don't really know where
where that's going. But the reason I say Jordan Grace
is because I'm thinking Jordan Grace is ending her time
with TNA soon. So it might not be a TNA
a piece that we get from Jordan Grace. This might
be like a debut, you know, like she shows up
in the Royal Rumble.

Probably I'd guess Final four again.

Uh, if not, if they don't just shock us with
the win honestly, Jordan Grace will Win would blow our
pants up.

Oh my god, imagine god that be so excited.

I mean, listen, when we were talking last week about
who we saw winning, Uh, the only active person we
could think of that made sense that and by active
I mean on our television every week.

Is Naomi and Naomi being tag champion.

We almost had to remind ourselves, Oh wait, I don't
think they do that, right, So, like, unless they take
the tag baps off them soon, which I don't mind.

Right, She's the only active one we could think of.

Yeah, and it's like not even I just think strategically
as you headed to the road to WrestleMania, unless, of course,
you're just set on Naomi and Beyonca defending the titles
at WrestleMania, they're just believable contenders going into Royal Rumble
as non champion ship holders.

So I mean, hot take, now that Dakota Kai didn't
win the Women's that championship, maybe Dakota Kai wins Royal Rumble.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Listen, I love you, manifesting man. Let's let's talk about
that only because and this is why, like I'd love
to excite myself for even two seconds and think that
could happen. But for me, them not going with the

code of Kai here is like such a shot, like
I don't get it. I don't get it, and it's
like I take nothing away from Lyra. Lyra has improved
in this match. She did a great job. They both
killed it. This match killed it for me, and they
both took some bumps that were crazy, like crazy spots
in this match.

So they both killed it. And and this match.

Is making me a bit of a more of a
Lyra believer than I was.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
I I agree because for me, I think she's still
green and I hate saying that, but they've been shooting.
They put a rocket up her ass because like in NXT,
it was the queen of the Queen of the ring.
Like they're constantly giving her quick constant.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
I packed her to Becky before Becky left, so we're
kind of supposed to. They haven't really harped on it
in a minute, probably since Becky's you know gone, and
now they want her to return to be a surprise,
but they were kind of still attaching us us to
her as Becky's friend.

You know, Becky likes her, so we're supposed to like her.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Too, and then they always kind of made her have
a trend of being like the runner ups and like
queen of the ring, like make it, you know kind of.

So but I was very I couldn't understand why. But
I will say this match with Dakota Kai, I don't
know if it's that Dakota brought it out of her,
but I feel like I was like, oh, okay, here, yeah,
here we go.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
This is and listen, like it's just at this point
we just have to accept it. Because as we've said,
they have been they did shove that rocket up. They
have been shoving her. I don't want to say shoving
her down at throats, but they've definitely been shoving her
to the forefront. And it's like, even if they didn't
have anything for her to do, they always found somewhere

to put her. You know.

They team her up with Kate.

And the Katana, which, for the record, I actually like
that group. I don't know why Kate disappeared again, but
that's Stable, that three girls. Stable had a very cool
entrance with the guns and the you know everything, So
I wouldn't mind that. I'm sure we're not getting it
now that Lira's got singles gold. Uh but yeah, to me,

she still seems very unproven. Yeah, and I'm not overwhelmed
by the pop. She gets to the point where I
don't actually know how over she is, if she's as
over with the fans as w wants us to believe
she is.

Once again, as we've been saying, I do think this.

Match hopefully went a long way with any of the
non believers, because I do want to see her succeed.
But for this first championship and for what the Innercontinental
title has always meant, Dakota Kai seemed like the ideal
first person winning right. She has put in her time,

on his own so that the fans can attach to him,

bucks and now you're gonna speak and they're gonna see you.
