Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coming up on this episode of hip Hop Now Podcast,
it's the best hip hop projects of November twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
We're getting close. Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Welcome to Jippop Now Pop Fast. If you from the future,
you know what to do. Show as out of that,
so disrespect the leg back hip hop is say this today.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Let's get right into the business. What up, y'all?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I am your host Vegas and this is a bonus
episode of hip Hop Now Podcast. A podcast is always
specifically designed to keep you caught up on all things
hip hop, music and culture, and this show is one
of those shows where I'm giving back.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Right that's the.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
November But first and foremost, shout out to those listening
and audio phone, whether you listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Make sure you're subscribed though you know, I appreciate your
founder brother, but hit that subscribe button and review on
Apple podcasts or if you're watching here right here on
YouTube hip Hop Now Pod. The goal by the end
of twenty twenty five, which is very close, right we're
in December. You only got a couple of more weeks,
(01:29):
is to get to twenty five thousand subscribers on YouTube.
So if you're watching, I mean, if you're listening on
Apple or Spotify or iHeart on any platform and you
say to yourself, I like to watch the video instead.
The link to the YouTube channel is always in the
description of this episode of every episode, so visit the channel,
(01:55):
hit subscribe, hit the like button. When you like things,
comment I read the comments applied to some comments.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Also, unless you with.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Some other stuff, then you know you get what you
get from me. But the YouTube channel is quickly approaching
twenty four thousand, so once we get past that hump,
it'll only be a g to go, and I think
we can do that. So again, if you enjoy the content,
(02:23):
engage with the content, share the content with other hip
hop heads, because I'm really about the music. Fifty cents p.
Diddy documentary just dropped in. Yes I'm gonna watch it,
but I'm not here to talk about it unless y'all
want me to.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
So there you have it.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
But what we're here to talk about today is a
feature that I plan to do at the top of
twenty twenty five, and then kind of got distracted and
got into some other things. But then I made up
that ground by first dropping an episode that Kate gave
you month to month releases that I thought were great,
(03:07):
and then last month, obviously I gave you the best
of October. Now that we're in December, we're in December.
If you're from the future making your ass out of here, man,
you already know, man, you already got nas in Primo.
You know what it sounds like. But as of this recording,
we're gonna talk about November. We had a couple of
(03:28):
releases from November that were pretty dope and some that
have impacted my Best of the Year episode, which is
right around the corner. First up, Shae Nowah and Loved
the Genius dropped an album together called Desired Crowns This
(03:50):
but well, first of all, both fencies, that's what we
say with the MC's that are the ladies are known
on the underground Shaye Noir for her production as well
as some very dope albums and EPs. Across the years,
she's appeared in one or two of my Best of
(04:11):
the Year list.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
She may appear again.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
She's dropped a number of projects, some which were cool,
one I really like, but now she has one with
Love the Genius, who is also coming off of an
album she dropped this year that I'm not gonna lie.
I didn't necessarily care for that much, and I don't
know why. I just I wanted her to flex a
(04:35):
little bit more on the bars. But on this project
that we're here to talk about today, Shane Noir loved
the genius, desired crowns. The ladies came. They pulled up
exactly what I was expecting from love to genius on
her album is here. And not to say that her
album is the worst, you know, I just think it's
(04:57):
more personal stories and it just was than what I
was expecting, and I wound up just being like, oh,
it's cool, but this this is different. If you've heard
the I guess you could call it lead single or
the song to me that got me a little excited
for this album called Black Girl. This album has eleven songs.
(05:22):
It's only thirty three minutes. But when I say, they
make it count with the majority of the tracks here,
if not all, they absolutely do. It's a very dope
album for anybody saying, yo, I'm tired of the Cardi
B's and the Megan THEE Stallions and you know, the
(05:43):
glow Rillas or whoever and what happened to the ladies
that spit his tool.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Them press play it's it next up? While a everything
is a lot. Now.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I have a complicated history with Wila as a fan
of hip hop and as a fan of his. I
always felt like, wile A is nicer than you think.
That's some some know, but Wila is nicer than you think.
And when I say that is those who know have
(06:19):
had the mixtapes from the past, who know to Wila,
who is not only a dope poet, right and spoken
word or whatever, but also when he combines that with
music that says something beyond I'm trying to make a
radio hit. So a lot of times he could have
a good radio hit, and I always felt some kind
(06:40):
of way like it's cool, but your strength is something else.
And I would have loved to hear an album where
he balances both. But I think for Wila, he's doing
what he's success been successful at. And with every album
he always always has a radio hit. But every time
(07:01):
I try to go listen to a new album, the
radio hit is the thing I like, and then the
majority of it I don't, but not not this one.
Everything is a lot, It's not going to give you
boom back. It's not going to give you open mic
poetry night, none of that stuff that's rond bars. But
(07:22):
what it is, it is it's hard to describe because
it's perfect for what its purpose is.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Right there is what that title say.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Everything is a lot So there's a lot of reflection, right,
mostly as it relates to relationships, but not necessarily just
relationships with women, but just people life, the job, you know.
But the production relies heavy on familiar samples. But I'm
(08:00):
not talking about shiny suit era, you know, loop that
joint and put it on.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I mean like recreating joints.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Like My favorite was the first song that dropped, which
is called Where to Start, where it's you know, SWV singing.
I'm not on the song, I mean it's their song.
It's from a song, you know, it's from a hook
(08:27):
of an SWV song, you know, but someone else is
singing it, but he's singing it, so it basically sounds
like Coco and them are singing it. And I know
some people say, well just get them, but there's something
about that that works because it still feels like it right,
And I don't know all the details. Somebody might say, oh,
Coco is singing and there too. I don't know, man,
(08:49):
I don't know. Song sounds dope. There are a lot
of records like that, like the Joint, Belly, especially the Joint.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
And I mean, I just this is something I like
a lot, The.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Joint with Leon Thomas, Like, while they perfected the radio
play singles, he can eat off this album if you're
paying attention. So if you like those types of records
that kind of talk about relationships and blend a little
R and B, but there's still a little skill level
(09:24):
in wordplay in which is being presented, this might be
for you.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
I'm not saying there are no skips, because there are
absolutely some songs I'm like, nope, not that one, not
that one either, But the majority the songs I like,
I damn they love them. And I'm again between Shay
Nowir and Love the Geniuses album that released in November
(09:51):
and this album also they really got me looking at
my best of the year, like.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Is it recent?
Speaker 1 (10:00):
And see bias because both of these joints might have
to bump two other albums, But we'll see what happens
at the end. We'll see next up, Cabin in the
Water Day Last Soul Day La Soul has returned as
a part of the mass Appeal rollout of seven Icons
(10:26):
seven Legends. Legend has its series, and right here on
this channel, I'll be reviewing the series, but we're just
waiting for that NAS and Primo to drop before I
go in and just review the entire series. But Daylat
Soul put up a stellar album. I remember, like after
(10:46):
listening to it and reviewing it right here on this channel.
You can watch your actual review of it right here
on this channel. But I just remember like loving it.
And what I tend to do is I don't go
to social media before I hear an album I'm anticipating.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I do the reverse.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I listened to it, I form my own opinion about it,
and then I go see what the public thinks of it.
And everybody was saying the same things I was saying,
and some people were even saying, you know, they were
tear it up because of.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Dave and how they honored Dave.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I mentioned in my review, the intro is very important,
especially if it's on your first listen, because of how
it ends, and the last song is very important also
because of how it ends, and the whole time when
(11:46):
I was listening to the album, I had to see
somebody on social media say I wish I had a
little bit more Dave, And then I was like, I
didn't even notice, and I don't even mean that in
a bad way. I was literally just enjoy as a
daylight soul album that included all members. So to me,
it didn't matter if Poz was on every song and
(12:08):
Dave was on four or five or whatever.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
It was. What mattered was when you heard Dave. It
was with purpose.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
It was set up in a way where Dave kuld shine,
his vocals kuld shine. This album is fantastic. This album
will absolutely, spoiler alert, be in my best.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Of the year.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Where will it land, I don't know yet, but right now,
Recency Biace is in there.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Okay, it's in there.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
And the last album in November that I have on
my best of lists of this month of November, I mean,
is The Uncomfortable Truth Ransom and Conductor Williams. I'm not
gonna hold you this Ransom best project this year, and
I'm including Final Call, and I'm with Davies and I'm
(13:04):
including the project he put out with DJ Premier. Why
because this is where Ransom's lyrics, his delivery, his monotone voice.
This is the type of production and presentation that matches
(13:25):
his style best. Some styles, like with the Premo joint,
there's some songs that are crazy, but after a while
you feel it feels repetitive because Premier's production sometimes can
be repetitive. So if that's repetitive, the production is repetitive,
(13:47):
and then Ransom is repetitive. It don't matter what's different
about the song, what the title is, what he say,
what beats was used, what's sampled, It don't matter if
it sounds repetitive. It's all going to become barring to
some some but this feels way better. This feels way better.
(14:10):
Ransom still dumb, nice, he ain't never whack repetitive or not.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
He's never whack, but it almost.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Makes it almost makes the sound energized or more into it.
Not just I'm rhyming over this beat by Premier or
I'm rhyming over this beat and again just because I
mentioned final call with Davi's davies can sound repetitive if
in this case not matched with someone that compliments it style.
(14:39):
You can't have two monotone repetitive rappers who are both nice.
It's you're gonna get lost somewhere in there unless you
just love boom BAP so much that you don't care.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
You just need a head nod and then I get it. Whatever.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
But this album with Conductor Williams, it's dope and it's
not overwhelmed.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
With Conductor Conductor, we have it.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
You're not overwhelmed. We know who it is, it says
Conductor Williams on here. We don't need that to drop
all the time. You know what I'm saying, And it doesn't.
So there you have it. Those are the projects that
I feel are some of the best of November. Hear
anything you were interested in, go check it out, no
(15:28):
matter what platform you're on. Just go look it up
and listen for yourself. Leave your review in the comment
section of this video. Also, if there's an album that dropped,
put it in a comment section. Maybe I heard it,
maybe I didn't, you know, Maybe I heard it thought
it was a WAT that's why I was not here,
or maybe I didn't even know it dropped.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
But I do appreciate people commenting and engaging because that
grows the channel. Because We're on the road to twenty
five k by the end of this year, and we
are extremely closed. We're closing in on twenty four thousand,
so we gotta keep going. More content is on the way, obviously.
Best of the year followed me on social media at
(16:13):
Vegas World.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
I NC regardless of.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Platform and please no, I'm not a critic, I'm a fan.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Please
