in the Bible itself. This is where Jesus fulfills his mission,
and his mission was the Cross. This is the chapter

of accomplishment. Jesus declares. It is finished, every prophecy, every promise,
every purpose fulfilled. Amen. So we're gonna dive in. We're
gonna look at that today, and we want you to

No God, we want to be in your perfect will
for our lives. We want to yield ourselves to you,

We don't want to leave anything undone before we are
called before your great and mighty throne, Oh God, to

a man Hallelujah. All right. Gospel of John nineteen. Let's
take verse one all the way to three. Now we
know that this is the crucifixion. We just went through
(05:02):
the last Supper. We just went through the whole betrayal.
We just went through the three denials of Peter. Peter
denied him three times. Jesus is just beginning his trial.
They smoked him, and Jesus said, why do you smoke me?
For what reason? If I'm speaking truth? And so this
(05:25):
is just the beginning of it. But we're thankful that
he did this for us, because through this, this is
how the price for our redemption has been paid. Hallelujah.
So now he's before Pilot. So then Pilot took Jesus
(05:49):
enscourged him, which is very excruciating. And the soldiers twisted
a crown of thorns and put it on his head,
and they put on him a purple roll, and they said, hell,
king of the Jews, and they struck him with their hands. Wow,
(06:15):
this is brutal. Pilot's scourge was brutal, like I said
a second ago, design to satisfy the crowd's blood thirst
and evade full crucifixion. But Prophecy demanded more. Isaiah said,

by his stripes, we are healed. And man, this is
a picture of submission that Jesus submitted to the full
will of God. There's also a picture of substitution. Every

lash Jesus took was meant for us. Just think about that,
every single lash that's supposed to be us, every drop
of blood spoke of mercy. Noticed how they mocked him

didn't know was they were crowning the true and living king.
They had no clue that they were actually correct and

the same. We know what's right, but cave under pressure

the crowd's voice can't overwrite the conviction of the spirit.
Don't let fear take you to a place where it
makes you betray your faith. Let me say that again.

Don't let fear make you betray your faith. Amen, Verse seven,
all the way to eleven. The Jesus answered him, we
have a law, and according to our law, he ought

to die because he made himself the son of God. Therefore,
when Pilot heard that saying, he was more afraid and
went again unto the petroleum and said to him and

said to Jesus, where are you from. Jesus gave him
no answer, And Pilot said to him, are you not
speaking to me? Do you not know that I have
the power to crucify you and the power to release you.

Jesus answered, you could have no power at all against
me unless it was given you from above. Therefore, the
one who delivered me to you has the greater sin. Wow,
the one who delivered you to me has the greater sin.

When Pilot heard son of God, he became afraid. A
gentile ruler suddenly faces the possibility of divine judgment. Pilot
as Jesus, don't you know I have power to crucify you?

But Jesus replies, you could have no power at all
against me unless it had been given you from above.
That's authority under sovereignty. Jesus wasn't a victim. He was
(11:24):
in control, even in suffering. Wow, hallelujah. Even in suffering,
Jesus was still in control. All right. Let's go to
verse sixteen. Then he delivered him to them to be crucified.

Then they took Jesus and led him away, and he
bearing his cross, when out to a place called to

in Hebrew Gelgatha, where they crucified him and two others
with him, one on the other side, in Jesus in

priests of the Jews said to Pilot, do not write
the king of the Jews. But he said, I am

the King of the Jews. Answered what I have written,
I have written. Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus,
took his garments and made four parts, to each soldier
a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was

without seen woven from the top in one piece. They said,
therefore among themselves, let us not tear it, but cast
lots for it whose it shall be that the scripture

might be fulfilled, which says they divided my garments among
them and for my clothing they cast lots. Therefore the

cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary,
the wife of Copius, and Mary Magdalene. And Jesus therefore

saw his mother and the disciples whom he loved, standing

to him mother. He said to his mother, women, behold
thy son. Then he said to the disciple, behold thy mother.

From that hour, the disciple took her to his own house.
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished
that the scripture might be fulfilled, said I thirst. Now

a vessel full of sourrow wine was sitting there, and
they filled a sponge with sorow wine, put it on
the hits up and put it on his mouth. So,
when Jesus had received the sorow wine, he said, it
is finished, and bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.

Hey man, all right, we're gonna stop there. Those three
words it is finished translated to the Greek to a tassi,
meaning paid in full. The debt of sin was canceled permanently.

And then we need to rejoice right there. The debt
of sin, the ages of sin, is death. That that
debt has been canceled permanently. Family, the cross wasn't a defeat,
It was destiny fulfilled. The power of sin is now broken.

When Jesus said it is finished, he was not giving up.
He was completing the that began before the foundation of
the world. Hallelujah, it is finished. Our debt has been paid. Hallelujah,

all right, Verse thirty one. Therefore, because it was the
preparation day, that the body should not remain on the

cross on the Sabbath, for that Sabbath was a high day,
the Jews ass pilot that their legs might be broken,

the other who was crucified with him. But when they

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus,

gave him permission. So he came and took the body

Accountability starts with accepting grace, not guilt. We need to

accept the hand of grace that God is giving unto

they filled a sponge with sorow wine, put it on

when Jesus had received the sorow wine, he said, it
is finished, and bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.

words it is finished translated to the Greek to a tassi,
meaning paid in full. The debt of sin was canceled permanently.

And then we need to rejoice right there. The debt
of sin, the ages of sin, is death. That that
debt has been canceled permanently. Family, the cross wasn't a defeat,
It was destiny fulfilled. The power of sin is now broken.

When Jesus said it is finished, he was not giving up.
He was completing the that began before the foundation of

preparation day, that the body should not remain on the

Accountability starts with accepting grace, not guilt. We need to

accept the hand of grace that God is giving unto
