Well, first, I want to thanks and give honor to
the pastor and Lady King for this opportunity to teach
tonight our Musia and you Sir, for trusting me tonight
with the word Amen.
Speaker 8 (04:24):
We're do the series. Do the book of Acts.
Speaker 9 (04:29):
Our brother Jirelle did a great job last week chapter
six Amen, leading up to chapter seven.
Speaker 8 (04:39):
And so chapter seven it starts with our brother.
Speaker 9 (04:42):
Steven and U if I couldn't get the board, please
if I get some brothers to bring that out. And
also I was wondering if I could get some help
tonight because you got a lot of scriptures that get
through and I want to see if we can get
through it within that time frame that I have. I
want to be obedient to that time frame. So if
(05:04):
I could have a reader tonight, someone can help you
read scriptures. Okay, Up, sister and Sister tim tips thank you,
says thanks brother, she got you on the here raise. Amen.
So we're looking at the Book of Acts, chapter seven.
(05:29):
This is a powerful book.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
That we have.
Speaker 9 (05:35):
Let me O, come up, blood, I understand, Amen, And
I'm more of a teacher tonight.
Speaker 8 (05:51):
So i gonna need y'all to follow with me. Now,
before we jump into.
Speaker 9 (06:04):
Chapter seven, we have to backtrack a little bit. So
we gotta go and look at the background because our
brother Stephen steps on the scene. But let's take a
look at who Stephen is. So if we go to
chapter six, verse five, it gives us a little background
(06:29):
and it tells us some of the characteristics about our
brother Stephen. So since you can go ahead and read that,
and the.
Speaker 11 (06:38):
Same please the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen a
man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and
Philip and Prochorus and Nikolore and Timon and Premenius and Nicholas,
a proselyte of Antioch.
Speaker 9 (06:56):
Amen.
Speaker 8 (06:56):
So we see we first hear about Stephen right here
where there was an issue in the early church, and
brother Jabrell he.
Speaker 9 (07:07):
Touched on it. The apostles could not leave the ministry
to wait on tables. Right. So they said, give us
men that are faithful with good report that could take
this ministry for us, so that we can continue in
the word and in prayer.
Speaker 8 (07:27):
Now, Stephen was the first person that was picked.
Speaker 9 (07:33):
And one thing that.
Speaker 8 (07:34):
Qualified was that he was full of faith.
Speaker 9 (07:37):
Amen. This was a man that was full of faith,
and he was full of the Holy Spirit. Now I
want you to touch that away because we're gonna come
back to that a little later. And then same chapter,
chapter six, let's read verse eight, please.
Speaker 11 (07:59):
And Steve and full of faith and power did great
wonders and miracles among the people.
Speaker 9 (08:06):
Amen. Now this was a mighty man of God. Hallelujah.
He was full of faith. And they switched out Holy
Spirit for power in this verse, and it said that
he was doing miracles, signs and wonders. These miracles were
(08:26):
following this man. Then let's get.
Speaker 8 (08:31):
Verse ten in the same chapter.
Speaker 11 (08:34):
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and
the spirit by which he's faith.
Speaker 8 (08:39):
Hallelujah.
Speaker 9 (08:41):
Now this man was full of wisdom.
Speaker 8 (08:45):
Now I've been taught that you're.
Speaker 9 (08:48):
Not supposed to argue the scriptures, right, I mean, it's
really not a good idea to argue with someone over
the Bible and over the Word of God. But sometimes
there's gonna be disputes and debates. We saw in the
ministry of Jesus Christ himself, he was always confronted with
(09:09):
people that will try to catch him up in words.
They will try to debate, and they will try to
discredit his teaching. But if that opportunity, if we find
ourselves in this situation where we're disputing, the Holy Spirit
has wisdom that no one can resist. As we saw
(09:35):
that operating on this land, they could not. They couldn't
trip him up. He was disputing, They were trying to
stop him. They were trying to come against a lot
of the things that he was teaching.
Speaker 8 (09:51):
But they could do nothing with him. And so let's
read verse eleven singh.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
Chapter They suborned man, which said we have heard him.
Speaker 11 (10:06):
Speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.
Speaker 9 (10:12):
Amen.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
And then let's read thirteen and fourteen and.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
Set up false witnesses, which said, this man ceases not to.
Speaker 11 (10:20):
Speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law,
for we have heard him say that this Jesus of
Nazareth will destroy this place and shall change the customs
which Moses delivered us hallelujah.
Speaker 12 (10:35):
So they couldn't beat Stephen straight out. So what they
had to do is they had to secretly conspire against him.
They had to go and paycil people a couple of
months and say, you know what, accuse him of speaking
against Moses in the law in the Temple.
Speaker 9 (10:58):
Amen. I would see the same spirit operating in Jezebel.
Back in First Kings chapter twenty one, when King Ahab
wanted this field. This field was so lustrious that he
was just luskying over this field. And he went to
(11:18):
the owner of this field. I can't remember his name
at the time. It's a great story. We're not gonna
read the whole story. But this righteous man said, no,
this field belongs to our family. I'm not going to
sell it to you. So this man walks away defeated.
He's over there down a fit and he's crying, and
(11:39):
so his wife, Jezebel, walks over to him and said,
what's wrong with you?
Speaker 8 (11:43):
You are the king of Israel.
Speaker 9 (11:45):
Why are you acting like this? And he told her
what was happening. I want this.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
Field and this guy would not sell it to me.
Speaker 13 (11:52):
So what she did was she also conspired against that man,
and she said, yeah, his name is.
Speaker 10 (12:05):
Nay bop is out and pronounced it right. And he
set up to him, give me thy vineyard for money. Okay,
So that's when he made the proposal to buy the field.
But I'm going to get to where they actually accused him,
falsely accused him.
Speaker 8 (12:23):
The same way these men did to Stephen.
Speaker 9 (12:27):
They can inspired against him, and then they rose up
and he killed that man. They knew what they were doing.
They knew that by the penalty of death, if they
were the black feme against Moses in the law, that
sentence would be carried out. Amen. So in chapter seven,
(12:52):
verse one, Stephen has an opportunity to defend himself. Amen.
Speaker 8 (12:59):
At least he had at that.
Speaker 9 (13:00):
A lot of times we get accused and people lying
in us, and we don't even get a chance to
defend ourselves. Amen.
Speaker 8 (13:08):
So Steven has an opportunity to defend himself.
Speaker 14 (13:12):
And the accusation that they brought against him wasn't entirely alive, right,
because Jesus didn't come to change the customs.
Speaker 8 (13:27):
Jesus came to change everything. He came to fulfill the law.
Speaker 9 (13:31):
So they really.
Speaker 8 (13:32):
Misunderstood the message.
Speaker 9 (13:35):
Hallelujah, Yes sir, Yes sir, And anybody's behind it pulling him.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Know, if I'm sitting here, I'm gonna have something to
say if we start to go. Jesus never kept to
change customs.
Speaker 9 (13:50):
And then.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
He said I didn't come to even take away the law.
I came to fulfill it.
Speaker 9 (13:58):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
In other words, what people we're doing.
Speaker 15 (14:00):
Going to the temple and all that, he never changed
up any of that, right, And so I want to
make sure that as we are giving instruction and direction
to God's people, that we are that we are accurate
in what we're saying, right, and again, this is part
of our growth factor. The other thing I want to
touch on is that when you said he took out
the Holy Spirit for power, the words were changed, but
(14:22):
it's the same thing, and I want to make sure
that we clear on that that it wasn't something different.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
And I want to make sure that we understand that
there's a different.
Speaker 15 (14:35):
Attack that Jezebel put on a man with the vineyard
versus a man of God. The attack is different because
this is not going to cost him a vineyard. It's
going to cost him his life, both of them dying
the story, but the Bible doesn't speak about the owner
(14:55):
of the vineyard being a man of God. And then
Jeesubel all of a sudden wants him, you know, his
his vineyard because it has something to do with ministry
or church.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Amen, you know.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
And so let's let's.
Speaker 15 (15:09):
One of the things that ticked off the Pharisees and
Sadducees is that Jesus would say stuff like the law
and Moses gave it to gave.
Speaker 16 (15:21):
You, I wrote it, I created Abraham. But that's what
they called him, you know.
Speaker 15 (15:28):
And so I want to make sure because here here's
the thing that that we need to get in this
day and time, is that it's a lot going on
in our world, right and we can be busy trying
to change the customs, or we can introduce people to Christ.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
And you don't have to change customs. That's not of God.
People would change as God changed them.
Speaker 9 (15:53):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Amen for this time, Amen.
Speaker 9 (15:57):
Thank you passed into that input. And yes, a change
heart is the true miracle. Amen, hallelujah. And so Stephen
has a chance to defend himself, and so he addresses
these accusations. And you have to also realize that the
(16:19):
Jewish people of the day. They took pride in their
fathers right. They took pride in the fact that they
were the descendants of Abraham, because even John the Baptist
told them that God is able to raise up stones
to become children of Abraham. Amen.
Speaker 8 (16:41):
But they had a distorted view of that.
Speaker 9 (16:44):
That was like, they really romanticize the fact that they
were the descendants of Abraham.
Speaker 8 (16:51):
And so, in order to confront something.
Speaker 9 (16:55):
You have to start with the truth. Amen. The enemy
is able to bring deception in our hearts if we
allowed to. And the only thing that can combat that
is the truth of God's word. And so Stephen here
he starts, and he starts with Abraham in verse chapter seven,
(17:19):
verse two through eight.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Can you read that?
Speaker 6 (17:23):
And he said, man, brethren and fathers, hearken.
Speaker 8 (17:26):
The God of Glory.
Speaker 11 (17:27):
Appeared unto our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia,
before he dwelt in Charin, and said unto him, get
THEE out of thy country and from thy kindred, and
come into the land which I shall show THEE.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
Then came he out of the land of Chaldeans and
duoke in Charin.
Speaker 11 (17:46):
And from thence, when his father was dead, he removed
him into this land wherein he now dwelt, and he
gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much
as to set his foot on.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Yet he promised that he would give it to him
for a.
Speaker 11 (18:04):
Possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet
he had no child. And God spake on the wise
that his seed should sojourn in a strange land, and
that they should bring them into bondage and entreat them
evil for a hundred years, and the nation to whom
they shall be in bondage while I judge, said God.
(18:27):
And after that shall they come forth and serve me
in this place. And he gave him the covenant of circumcision.
And so Abraham begat Isaac and circumcised him the eighth
the day, and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat the
twelve patriarchs.
Speaker 9 (18:46):
Amen, hallelujah. So he starts right at the foundation. He
starts with father Abraham. And this is a great testimony
of his life. Abraham is the one who entered the
covenant with God. Abraham was the one that believed God
(19:07):
against all odds. Amen. When he was an older man
and the womb of his wife was considered dead, he
still joyce and trusted God that they would have the
promised child. Amen.
Speaker 8 (19:24):
So then he jumps to Joseph if he can get
verse nine, please, And the.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Patriarchs moved with envy sol Joseph into Egypt.
Speaker 9 (19:34):
But God was with him, hallelujah.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
So there is the king in the army right there.
Speaker 9 (19:40):
When it comes to their fathers, their fathers moved enviously
against Joseph, and we know that Joseph was chosen by God, hallelujah.
Joseph was having dreams, and he even dreamed that they
all had these stocks. I believe stocks that hey, or
(20:05):
you know, I can't think exactly what it was, but
they all had these stocks, and their stocks bowed down
to his stock. And Joseph was like the youngest, right
one of the young He was like the run of
the family. And his brothers were bitter. They rebelled against
that vision. They were angry to the point where they
(20:26):
were willing to kill him, but it was the older
brother rubing and then stopped him. So then they actually
sold them to Egypt. But it says that God was
with them, So this starts the pattern of their fathers.
(20:48):
Let's go ahead and look at Moses. So he starts
with Joseph, and he goes to Moses. If he could
read seven verse twenty through twenty two, in which sign.
Speaker 11 (21:02):
Moses was born and was exceeding fair and nursed up
in his father's house three months. And when he was
cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up and nourished him
for her own son.
Speaker 9 (21:14):
And Moses was.
Speaker 11 (21:15):
Learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was
mighty in.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
Words in deeds.
Speaker 8 (21:21):
Amen.
Speaker 9 (21:21):
So Moses was well pleasing to God. Now Moses was
God's chosen leader for this generation. And if we can
read verse twenty four, and.
Speaker 11 (21:35):
Seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him and
avenged him that was oppressed and smote the Egyptian.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
Now Moses knew that he was chosen by God to
deliver the nation of Israel.
Speaker 8 (21:49):
He felt it in his heart. He knew that he
had this calling in his life. And so when he
saw one.
Speaker 9 (21:56):
Of the Egyptians mistreating in Israelite, he rose up and
he killed that Egyptian.
Speaker 8 (22:03):
Now I don't know what Moses's plan.
Speaker 9 (22:05):
Was, if he was gonna kill them one by one,
but you know God's plan was to drown everybody in
the sea. Amen. God had a better plan for their deliverance, hallelujah.
And so let's read verse twenty five.
Speaker 6 (22:21):
For he supposed his brother.
Speaker 11 (22:23):
Would have understood how that God by his hand would
deliver them.
Speaker 6 (22:28):
But they understood not.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
Now, they did not understand this action. They kind of
missed it.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Right.
Speaker 9 (22:36):
Then, let's read twenty seventy twenty nine through or twenty
seven end uh twenty seven through twenty nine.
Speaker 11 (22:46):
But he that did his neighbor wrong thrust him away, saying,
who may be a ruler and a judge over us?
Will thout kill me as thou didst in Egyptian yesterday?
Then fling Moses at this scene and was a straight
and the land of Madian where he begat two sons.
Speaker 9 (23:05):
Amen. So at this point his brethren misunderstood that Moses
was there to deliver the people. And then the next day,
when he saw two brethren, two Israelites, fighting, he went.
He tried to break up the fight. He tried to
bring correction, but they rejected him. There they say, who
(23:28):
made you ruler over us? Amen?
Speaker 8 (23:32):
Lord behold he was God.
Speaker 9 (23:35):
Amen.
Speaker 8 (23:36):
And so let's go ahead and read verse thirty five.
Speaker 11 (23:42):
This Moses, whom they refused, saying who made the ruler
and a judge? The same did God sin to be
a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the
Angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Speaker 9 (23:55):
Amen. So this very man that they question, who made
ruler and judge over us, is the very man that
God sent, the very man that God had his hand on. Hallelujah.
Speaker 8 (24:12):
So he's now you got to keep in mind this
is he's in court.
Speaker 9 (24:17):
Stephen is in court right now, and he's using these
as his defense. So these are points that he's bringing out.
And so the pattern that we see concerning the fathers
is that Joseph was rejected before he was exalted, Moses
(24:39):
was rejected before he became their deliverer, and they're repeating
the same pattern with Jesus himself. Jesus was rejected before
he was glorified. And so now he is continuing his case.
And now he's I seen the temple because those were
(25:02):
the charges they were charging him for preaching Jesus who
is going to destroy the temple?
Speaker 8 (25:11):
And so can we get verse forty.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
Seven, but Solomon built him and house.
Speaker 9 (25:21):
Amen.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
Actually, can you go back to forty six in forty seven.
Speaker 11 (25:25):
Who found favor before God and desire to find a
tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
But Solomon built him in house.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Amen.
Speaker 9 (25:35):
Now let's go ahead and read.
Speaker 8 (25:36):
Verse forty eight.
Speaker 6 (25:38):
How be it the most high dwelling, not in temples
made with hands, as saying the.
Speaker 9 (25:43):
Prophet, Amen, that was now forty nine fifty.
Speaker 11 (25:49):
Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstore. What
house will he build me.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Saith the Lord? Or what is the place of my rest?
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Happen?
Speaker 6 (26:01):
Not my handmade all these things?
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Hallelujah. You know that just amazed me when I was
reading it.
Speaker 9 (26:08):
I'm just imagining God just kidding your back, chilling with
his feet up right next to the earth. I'm like, man,
how big is our father? Hallelujah. His throne is into heavens.
The heavens of heavens can't contain our God. Hallelujah.
Speaker 8 (26:26):
And he quoted the verse from Isaiah. We can get
that chapter sixty six.
Speaker 9 (26:34):
Thus said the Lord, the heaven is my throne, in
the earth is my footstool. Where is a house that
you bild unto me? And where is the place of
my rest? Hallelujah? So they knew that it was kind
of silly to try to build a house, because God could.
Speaker 8 (26:53):
Not fit anywhere on earth. But these men are sitting
here willing to charge Stephen.
Speaker 9 (27:04):
Over this temple, over this house that is not even
able to contain God. Hallelujah. And so now he builds
his case. He addresses the fathers, he addresses the temple,
and now the accused becomes the accuser. Now he begins
(27:27):
to convict them. And this is where truth comes in. Amen,
this is where the truth comes in. This was their
chance to repent and get it right, because he showed him.
The word of God is a mirror. The word of
God will show us where we truly are and where
(27:48):
our hearts really are. You talk about the fathers, but
the fathers rejected the God, the leaders, the leaders that
God sent to him. And then he starts off in
fifty one.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
If you read that, you.
Speaker 6 (28:02):
Stiff necked and uncircumcised in hard and years, you do
always resist the holy ghosts, and your fathers did so.
Speaker 17 (28:12):
Do ye?
Speaker 9 (28:14):
M Come on, he gave it right to him. He
did not shrink back from competition at all. So he
built the case. And now this is the conviction. And
this is the application of verse fifty two and fifty three.
Speaker 11 (28:34):
Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted and
they have slain them?
Speaker 6 (28:39):
Would show before of the coming of the just one
of whom you have been.
Speaker 11 (28:44):
Now the betrayers and murderers who have received the law
by the disposition of angels and have not kept it.
Speaker 8 (28:53):
Amen, So you boasted this law. You receive the law
by the hand of angels, but you didn't I keep it.
And also.
Speaker 9 (29:04):
Your fathers killed every single one of God's prophets. Everyone,
they killed him, every prophet that God said to the nation.
They murdered. Isaiah was sawn in too, he was they
cut him right through the middle. Jeremiah was thrown in prison.
(29:28):
And Elijah and Elishah they had troubles with the kings
of the land because they stood for righteousness and they
stood with the standard of God. Now this right, here
was their chance to get this right, because in verse
(29:48):
fifty four, if you could read that.
Speaker 11 (29:51):
When they heard these things, they were cut to the
heart and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
Speaker 9 (29:57):
Amen. Now already to ask questions about this verse, because
we saw Peter stand up before three thousand people. Amen.
And if we can get acts chapter two, verse thirty seven,
and the day of Pentecost, So we saw the power
(30:19):
of the Holy Spirit was poured out on that day.
And Peter addresses the crowd, and let's go ahead and
read that.
Speaker 15 (30:29):
Now.
Speaker 11 (30:30):
When they heard this thing, were pricked in their heart
and said them to Peter and to the rest of
the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do?
Speaker 9 (30:39):
Amen. So both groups of people were pricked and convicted
in their hearts. Amen. But the first group of people,
it drew them to repentance. They said, men and brethren,
what shall we do?
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Now?
Speaker 9 (31:00):
This group of people, they gnashed their teeth, and it
jude them in the violence same Holy Spirit. Amen.
Speaker 8 (31:11):
The Holy Spirit was working on the dead Pentecost, just
like the Holy Spirit was working in our brother Stephen.
Speaker 9 (31:18):
Right because we said at the beginning that he was
full of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 8 (31:23):
Hallelujah. Let's go ahead and read verse fifty five.
Speaker 11 (31:33):
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up
standfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God and
Jesus standing on the.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
Right hand of God.
Speaker 9 (31:44):
Amen.
Speaker 8 (31:46):
There it is again, Stephen, being.
Speaker 9 (31:48):
Full of the Holy Spirit. Yes, he looked up at
God and he saw Jesus standing at the right hand.
Speaker 10 (31:56):
Now normally we read about Jesus sitting at the right
hand of the Father, but he stands.
Speaker 8 (32:03):
Up to receive, as we call the first martyr.
Speaker 9 (32:08):
Of the church.
Speaker 8 (32:09):
Amen, let's read fifty eight in fifty.
Speaker 6 (32:14):
Nine and cast him out of this city and stoned him.
Speaker 11 (32:19):
And the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young
man's feet whose name was Saul, and they stoned Stephen,
calling upon God and saying, Lord, Jesus received my spirit.
Speaker 9 (32:31):
Amen, hallelujah. Okay, this is where I'm sorry. Sis. Can
I ask you to write on the board real quick
till I know you're doing double duty tonight. I appreciate that.
Write the word martyr from the board for us. Mr
(32:51):
ty s that's the Greek mortar.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Yeah, m A r t y s.
Speaker 9 (33:00):
That's that's Marty's agree. Yeah, that's the Greek.
Speaker 15 (33:05):
Oh.
Speaker 9 (33:05):
Okay, the rood word for the Greek.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
This is what we're getting.
Speaker 9 (33:09):
And while she's doing that, you have to kindly in
her question make it easy.
Speaker 15 (33:17):
A man.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
So uh when you Rea, cause I was kind of
I was reading this uh throughout the week two, so verse.
Speaker 9 (33:25):
Fifty eight.
Speaker 6 (33:27):
So you know, a pastor teaches us that when we.
Speaker 11 (33:29):
See the two knots and means to pause and think
about it for a second. Right, So one it says,
and okay, well, actually when you go back, it talks
about how you know when they heard these sayings and
that they k you know, they took them and they
cast him out. They were upset, right yeah, MINDI he
was in court, like you said, so he was talking
(33:49):
to the high priest. He was talking to one in there,
and so he said, all these things are upset. And
then it says, and they took him and they cast
him out of the city.
Speaker 8 (33:58):
And stoned him.
Speaker 9 (34:01):
They did that.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Then it goes on to say, and the witnesses laid
down their coats, so we have witnesses and they stone them.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
So the witnesses were these the people who were were
those who are the witnesses?
Speaker 8 (34:23):
And who are the they? Okay, so let me let
me attend to answer that a man.
Speaker 9 (34:30):
In every court system, you gotta have witnesses, right too,
And even in our court system today, you gotta have
a believe to witnesses. To charge someone like this was
like a court setting h you know what I mean,
like a legal setting. So so I would say, off
(34:50):
the top of my head, I'm not saying I study that,
but it was like a court type setting, and they
had witnesses there because they were getting ready to accuse
him to death. So maybe there were a group of
witnesses and a group of people that carried out the sentence.
Speaker 11 (35:09):
That agreed with the sentence, because they didn't actually do
the stone itself, so they agreed with the sentence. Possibly
since they laid their coach down, was a was that
symbolic of their agreement?
Speaker 9 (35:21):
I'll say yes, yes, I was saying would be their
agreement because they were witnessing against him, just like think
about Jesus when they brought him into court and they
were trying to come up with charges against Jesus and
(35:41):
they couldn't come up with anything, and finally they had
to falsely accuse him about destroying the temple and in
three days raise it up. They had to find someone
to accuse them, right, and even earlier in this chapter
it says that they could not argue with Stephen, so
they pay people to fossily accuse him.
Speaker 6 (36:04):
So it could even be some of them, So agreement
is laying down your coat, and when you're.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Mad, you just rent your right.
Speaker 9 (36:11):
Now, Amen, was that pretty close pass on your house house?
There's some deep water right there.
Speaker 15 (36:21):
We gotta when we when we respect, this is the
This is the reason why when you read the Word
of God, you're gonna ask God in English, the Holy
Spirit of English, to give you understanding. But it's got
to be an understanding from what an Eastern standpoint. We're
thinking from western standpoint, there's no witnesses.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Like we have here in our court.
Speaker 15 (36:46):
If you go back to the beginning of this story,
when Peter and them were being accused.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
There was no witnesses. It's called a counsole.
Speaker 15 (36:54):
Remember this said put them all out of the room
so we can have consol about what's going on.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
A lot of times the laying down of the coats.
Speaker 16 (37:02):
Also was the grieving of the person, because you got
to understand something. Everybody that's that look like they're part
of it is not. And everybody's not agreeing. And those
that don't agree when authority makes a decision, they have
a tendency to be quiet.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
But your quietness is also louder than you think.
Speaker 15 (37:26):
Right, And so we got it when we go into scripture,
because the other thing that I wanted to touch on
is that we said, as we.
Speaker 16 (37:34):
Read, your father's killed the prophets and things of that nature. Right,
what the fathers are we talking about? Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
Are we talking about the descendants of the people that's
accused us? And by the way, we've been calling him
the Rome name the old time. There's no V in
his name.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
It's Stephan, not Stephen, That's Stephen. Why is that important?
Because the tone the name changes the intent.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Amen, Amen.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
My thing was to this is I was.
Speaker 18 (38:15):
I am persuaded that these witnesses are those ones who
are paid to make this, uh, to make to make
the statement, you know, they were paid.
Speaker 9 (38:27):
And then it's the man who they laid the garments
and he who's this So this is this is I
guess this is the first time we have to mention
of him here, Okay, but again the whole time, I'm
pretty sure this is the man who stirred up all
this stuff against Stephen.
Speaker 17 (38:48):
Mh.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
You know, but Stepan, right, you know, because you know
we know his story, you know, so I'm you know.
Speaker 18 (38:58):
And I'm assuming that's what happened, you know, basically the
ones who never religious leaders paid to come out.
Speaker 8 (39:06):
Now they've witnessed to that.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Then they do double garments, and then they also they
through it. I'm pretty sure why did they do it
for this man number one?
Speaker 15 (39:16):
At this point in time, Saw is probably the smartest
person in the group, only second to Gamel. Gamel was
actually a university that call graduated from the wisest university
on the planet Earth. And so the only if you
remember when they brought them into the first accusation of Peter,
it was Gamelle that said, if you're fighting against God,
(39:37):
you better watch yourself. Yeah, right, and so and so
the person with the great authority they're laying there that
the garments at history because he's the one with the
most authority. Again, he's a super wealthy guy. His family
is Saw is super wealthy because even to buy a
dual citizenship was a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
He was a dual citizen.
Speaker 16 (40:01):
As we get further into the Book of Acts, you'll
see where he's arrested and they.
Speaker 15 (40:06):
Slap him and they go, oh, by the way, he goes,
by the way, I am a Roman citizen and a
man panicked. Yes, right, and So again, when when you
sit down and study the Word of God, even though
you read it in English, you got to ask God
to give you.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
An Eastern mindset.
Speaker 15 (40:25):
Lest, but not least, I'm sitting here and going we
covered a lot of ground. I think the difference between
Peter and the response that Peter got versus Stephen was one.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
The atmosphere was different.
Speaker 15 (40:43):
I mean, right, if you they're doing this group is
doing something that shows you how they the enemy mimics.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
And what I mean by that verse fifty seven.
Speaker 15 (41:04):
And they cried out loud with a loud voice, and
stopped their ears and ran upon him.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
How we hear that where we see that phase before?
Speaker 16 (41:15):
Come on?
Speaker 1 (41:17):
What amen?
Speaker 15 (41:21):
One of the things that the double half master that
we are still playing with and struggling with is one accord.
So when Jesus encountered this demon legion, all of them
are called one name, and nobody saying I don't want
to be called that. Let's call ourself leroy. Nobody's fighting
over because again they're under the authority of the main principality,
(41:42):
the main demon on this man, and they go under
his name.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
Nobody's fighting over that. We don't see people in court.
We don't see.
Speaker 15 (41:49):
Witches swing one another and more lots swing one another
because you killed my chicken.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
We don't you get what I'm saying.
Speaker 15 (41:58):
We don't see people and the dark round fighting over
things because they agreed.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
Amen. Here's the thing that that really just like blows
you away.
Speaker 15 (42:09):
Is this young man Stepan is quoting all of the
Old Testament without a Bible.
Speaker 9 (42:17):
Come on, yep, m that's good.
Speaker 15 (42:22):
The Holy Spirit on him is actually placing him in
front of these events.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
Get you gotta you gotta see what he's doing.
Speaker 15 (42:31):
Because a lot of us don't want to speak on
behalf of Jesus because I haven't gone a seminary.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
He told the disciples.
Speaker 15 (42:37):
Don't take an extra clothes, don't take a script, he said,
I'll show it to you when you get there.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Amen, because what you're rehearsing may not be the situation.
And I don't want anybody to think that you rehearsed
this before you said it.
Speaker 15 (42:53):
So when I send you to somebody's house that's laying
on their sick bed and you say get up in the.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Name of Jesus, they know that they have not been rehearsed.
That that's a right now thing.
Speaker 15 (43:03):
He is literally stepping, is literally looking at these events
that's taking place, and he goes all.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
The way from Moses Abraham. He clears the whole board,
and he's not even old enough to do that. But
it's the Holy Spirit that reveals to him these words.
Speaker 15 (43:24):
The men that are accused of him, they have studied
this stuff for years and here he is, this young man,
and he's absolutely quoting back.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
Scripture to them and saying, y'all missed it all over
the place the authority. Here's the point that.
Speaker 15 (43:40):
I'm making in that is that there are things that
the Holy Spirit want to reveal to some of us,
but we got too much input from other people. We
have too many people trying to tell us what we
need to say.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
On behalf of God.
Speaker 15 (43:55):
Come on, God wants you in a place to where
you are totally dependent.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Although what comes out of your mouth is.
Speaker 15 (44:02):
Directly from the heart of God, and it's the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
Because when you said under the authority of.
Speaker 19 (44:08):
The Holy Spirit, when it goes bad, like Steven, you
don't back down. There's no reverse in real revelation that
comes from the Holy Spirit. You square your shoulders, you
actually puff up more when there's a threat that gets
your life because you realize, number.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
One, it ain't my life anymore. Come on, and Jesus
stands up.
Speaker 15 (44:28):
Because every person that's come to my house, I don't
greet them from the couch.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
I stand up. If you walk to the doors of
my house, I stand up to greet you. That's why
we have ushers at the front door. They're not sitting down.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
It's a hospitality thing.
Speaker 16 (44:43):
Stephen, You're on your way to my house, and I'm
gonna stand up and greet you.
Speaker 9 (44:49):
Hallelujah.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
And So what we gotta get in this is that
the Holy Spirit will reveal things.
Speaker 16 (44:57):
This seminary won't reveal that being in church your whole
life won't reveal because that he was a bishop won't
reveal because your mama was an international missionary won't reveal.
And the truth of the matter, whether we believe it
or not, the truth of the matter is is that
the world that we are living in they need a
(45:19):
real word from a real God, from real people that
serve a real God that's speaking real tongues, real hands,
that real liver, real life that expresses.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Now you do that at home, You're gonna do that
at church. Man, he's helping me preach or teach.
Speaker 15 (45:41):
You don't get what I'm saying. And it's all about
it is all about. Here's the thing about Stephan. You
don't find counterfeit in here nowhere, and checked this out.
Out of all the thousands of people that got saved,
nobody's here. Right by the time we get here, it's
(46:05):
almost fifteen thousand people. According each other scripture has been saying,
nobody's here.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
Oh okay, yeah, wow, that's good.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Where's the saints?
Speaker 8 (46:20):
The second bunch even was introduced to all the story
of the Saint.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
I just need somebody to know that. Why you think
you walking this thing out by yourself?
Speaker 9 (46:28):
Because when so.
Speaker 15 (46:29):
When Paul later on and I don't know who, I
don't know who's doing it, Okay, when he's dealtless and
he says, why do you kick against the prick?
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Why do you persecute me? He wasn't talking about that.
He really starts with this guy.
Speaker 20 (46:46):
Yeah, yeah, amen, I'm sorry, amen, but I wanted to
I wanted just to share that with the house, amen.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
Because against some of us are waiting to be in
church a long time.
Speaker 15 (47:03):
I've memorized some scripture enough to impress people. You know,
I'm fluent and speaking in tongues now, and so maybe
I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
The woman at the well had no seminary, she had
no pastor. Church.
Speaker 15 (47:18):
Ros didn't like her, as you're talking to Jesus, Jews
didn't like her. Come and yet after he got done
with her, she said, come see a man, see him.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
Come on, We got all these excuses, Please hear me.
That's keeping us away from people that's trying to get
to our God.
Speaker 16 (47:45):
Because we want to be smart enough, and we want
to be educated enough, and we want degrees behind our name.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
The only thing that desires degrees are thermostats.
Speaker 16 (48:02):
Wow, he's trying to show us here that if we
just let the Lord God the Holy Spirit have his
way with us, it's gonna make some people upset, but
under stronger naunting.
Speaker 9 (48:20):
So what hallelujah, Amen, Amen, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Speaker 6 (48:29):
Let read this and then expanded.
Speaker 21 (48:32):
Okay verse fifty seven, and it says then they shouted
loudly and.
Speaker 22 (48:37):
Colored their ears, and all ran rushed together or rushed
with one intent, and Steven they took dragged him out
of the city and began to throw stones at him
to kill or stone him, the customary to execute a criminal,
(49:02):
and those who told lies against them or his accusers,
those who provided testimony. The witnesses left their coaches with
and the feet of a young man named Saul, later
known as Paul.
Speaker 9 (49:23):
So that's why I translation.
Speaker 21 (49:27):
Then the other thing I wanted to say, Okay, maybe
this is just me, but I believe that Jesus did
stand up.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
To welcome him. But this is just me.
Speaker 21 (49:38):
I'm not starting another movement, Okay, I'm just saying that
I believe that what Stephens said determine what Jesus was
gonna do.
Speaker 6 (49:50):
In that he said, forgive them or don't have to
sent to their charge.
Speaker 8 (49:54):
Said, Jesus said, okay, welcome because how many.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
Of you sitting here?
Speaker 21 (49:59):
Remember Jesus you mentioned it, and that's in Acts chapter nine.
Speaker 23 (50:03):
He said, why are you persecuting me? If I'm sitting
here and I see you hurting my grandchild, And it
reminds me of when Vince, Okay, have two sons, right,
I gave birth to two sons. Vince was at basketball
practice at.
Speaker 8 (50:22):
The UNLV and just practicing. Michael was up in the
stands and he was just sitting there watching.
Speaker 6 (50:27):
Then you know, on the court they start like pushing
and getting work.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
With Vince.
Speaker 9 (50:32):
Vince.
Speaker 6 (50:33):
He said, Mom, I looked up in the stand and
Michael was standing up. He said, I just went like this,
like I'm good.
Speaker 15 (50:42):
You know.
Speaker 8 (50:43):
So it depended on what Vincent.
Speaker 11 (50:45):
If Vincent would have said, I'll need you to hope,
Michael wuld have been down there. I'm just saying that
I believe.
Speaker 8 (50:50):
That the Lord is more involved when.
Speaker 9 (50:53):
The with us than we realized.
Speaker 24 (50:55):
Wow, the man and he tells us to pray for
those who spitefully use us, you know, bless those who
curse you, love those who hate you, and and I'm just.
Speaker 6 (51:06):
Kind of think it depends on what you know.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Jesus was was ready to defend.
Speaker 22 (51:13):
Or to welcome.
Speaker 6 (51:14):
Come on, I I I think it's full.
Speaker 15 (51:18):
I got say.
Speaker 9 (51:21):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (51:24):
So system.
Speaker 15 (51:26):
Well, I had a when I.
Speaker 25 (51:28):
Was reading that what we were talking about, and woman
that God said that in the young lady that just
stood up also was talking about the same verses about
who was the witness and who was the accuser.
Speaker 6 (51:43):
Now, in the interpretation that.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
I understand, it is the the witness was stepping himself
because he had to watch his faith.
Speaker 6 (51:55):
Oh wow, okay, And then the.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
Accuser was the one that accused him of blast blasphemy
in the house.
Speaker 1 (52:05):
Mm now saw.
Speaker 5 (52:07):
Rather he was the one where they you know what
you said about laying the coat down and everything at
the feet of the people.
Speaker 9 (52:14):
So that's a matter a man exco man sure real good, alright, brother.
Speaker 1 (52:21):
Hallelujah that w I just have a question.
Speaker 9 (52:26):
So I know no one on the planet can do
what Jesus did.
Speaker 17 (52:30):
But in verse sixty, it reads then, falling on his
knees in worship, he cried out loudly, Lord, do not
hold this sin against them, do not charge them.
Speaker 8 (52:41):
When he had said this, he fell asleep in death.
Is that similar to what Jesus did?
Speaker 9 (52:47):
Or what are you?
Speaker 1 (52:53):
Are you.
Speaker 17 (52:55):
What part of that where it says when he had
when he had said this, he fell asleep in death?
Speaker 1 (53:01):
So does that mean like he died or so it
was kind of like what Jesus did did?
Speaker 9 (53:08):
What translation? Are you coming out?
Speaker 1 (53:10):
Because death should uh I'm coming out of the amble?
Speaker 15 (53:16):
Yeah, that that's it throws death in there, but uh
uh uh we uh say people go to sleep, right.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
The Bible tells us that over and over week y'all
all not sleep and and so. But yeah, it means
it's it.
Speaker 9 (53:29):
It's the same thing, Thank you sir. Amen.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
Amen, Amen, good questions getting played. Do lose a mic?
Speaker 1 (53:38):
I think it was pretty if you like, I think
it's pretty amazing.
Speaker 15 (53:42):
Yeah, your your life was blinking a little bit ago. Uh,
I think it's pretty amazing. If we could go back
to sixty verse sixty, I I I find it very
amazing that he hit his knees. He he left out
of here and a postive prayer.
Speaker 17 (54:01):
Mm.
Speaker 3 (54:02):
Nice.
Speaker 9 (54:03):
Nice.
Speaker 15 (54:05):
The Bible before this, they said they dragged him out.
A group of them start pulling him out the city.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
You know what people do?
Speaker 15 (54:11):
You in a group of people grab somebody and throws
him to the ground to put him in a stony position.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
And he said, before I.
Speaker 15 (54:18):
Leave here, I'm gonna leave this impression in your head
that you're gonna see me doing the very thing that
you stonle me after all over and that is I'm
going to leave here in a semblance of prayer.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Wow, come on, amen, Yes, that's up.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
So I need to ask because in the Jewish Bible
it says Stephan down. It says on sixty that he
knelt down shouting out, Lord, don't hold with sitting against them.
With that, he died in the Jewish popular So I
thought you said there they could hope people go to sleep.
So just because of joys by and they changed the
(55:01):
word though, mean, it's not what it is. I understand
you just wanted to So I just wanted to get
him better. In the sense of your physical body not
breathing anymore. We can say that, okay, But from a
spiritual standpoint, you sleep right, man and man, because then
in verse fifty five, he said he was full of
(55:21):
the royal hawkadess.
Speaker 15 (55:22):
She looked up in heaven, and so God should kind
of go away with your shore standing at his right
at his right hand of God.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
Look, he.
Speaker 9 (55:31):
Explain, Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
See heaven open and the son of Man at the
right hand of God. Well here's the thing.
Speaker 15 (55:38):
But they didn't realize that while you stole this body,
I'm already gone, because you can't be in the vase
of Jesus if you're not with him.
Speaker 9 (55:46):
I mean, amen, hallelujah, Amen, Amen, great input. Try to
wrap this up. I got about five minutes.
Speaker 8 (55:58):
So we wrote this word on the board that is
the root word for.
Speaker 9 (56:03):
Martyr, and in English the translate to witness. If you're right,
witness for me. And let's get Acts chapter one, verse eight.
This Acts chapter one, verse eight. But you shall receive
(56:27):
power after that. The Holy Ghost has come upon you,
and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem
and in all Judaea, and in Samaria and.
Speaker 8 (56:40):
Unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
Speaker 9 (56:44):
And so this is what God has called us to be,
to witness, meaning to be faithful, loyal testifiers, even under
the threat of death.
Speaker 8 (56:57):
Amen, this is what God has called us to be.
Speaker 9 (57:03):
And also as we have said and mentioned in the
comments that he said, Lord, Jesus received my spirit in
verse fifty nine.
Speaker 8 (57:16):
And then he also said, Lord, do not charge them
with the sin in verse.
Speaker 9 (57:24):
Sixty. Now this mirrors Jesus on the cross. Let's get
luke twenty three and twenty four. Hallelujahlujah. Then Jesus said, Father,
forgive them, for they know not what they do. And
(57:48):
they parted his women and cast lots. Amen. Now this
is Christ's likeness right like just imagine if somebody were
to drag us out in the parking lot.
Speaker 8 (58:05):
Pick up stones, the whole church.
Speaker 9 (58:09):
But we're just gonna come against you. We're just gonna
pick up some stones, We'll take you out of here.
How many of us would say, Father, forgive them, or
don't lay this sin to our charge? Most of us
would have been throwing the stones back, like we all
would have went out, and man, everybody.
Speaker 8 (58:29):
Would been gone. You know what I'm saying. It would
have been a big warn But.
Speaker 9 (58:33):
This is this da that according to the Word of God,
this is how we're gonna we're supposed to forgive. Now,
Remember the Bible says that Stephen was a powerful man.
He was a man that.
Speaker 26 (58:47):
Performed wonders in front of him. If you wanted to,
he could have cursed them if you wanted to. He
could have said a lot of things against that crime.
But if you would have done that, what would have happened.
Speaker 9 (59:03):
To, Like my brother said to the apostle Paul, right,
possibly we wouldn't even have an apostle Paul, if Steven
would have came against that crime. But Stephen have a
heart for Christ. And so there may be somebody that
you need to forgive tonight, that I need to forgive tonight.
(59:24):
We need to release another apostle Paul, because there's somebody
who might be messing up, treating us harshly, and we
have a hard time if you don't smile in church
at us. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 19 (59:39):
Amen?
Speaker 9 (59:41):
And so this is Jesus Christ's likeness, the standard that
we must forgive, or even our Father would not forgive us. Amen, hallelujah. Now,
I actually before we started the Book of Bacs, I
(01:00:02):
just finished the Book of John and I just looked
at the clock.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
My time is up.
Speaker 9 (01:00:09):
I had to be done by eight fifteen. Wht me
wrap it up?
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
Past?
Speaker 9 (01:00:14):
Would you like for me to wrap it up? My
time is up? Well, I wouldn't be obedient at the time. Man,
keep doing so you want? Hey man, I was just
trying to keep your instructions.
Speaker 15 (01:00:35):
If y'all know that thing when you said, if one
of us dragged one up outside and start starting, if
we got our first person.
Speaker 9 (01:00:44):
Hey man, so I can fit it right, Okay, okay,
oh okay.
Speaker 8 (01:00:51):
All right, that's my time, y'allah.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
Chip just gonna be in mem put the word that
the name Steven Eppen.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
