Since we're talking about the Word, we're actually gonna pick
it up and Acts Chapter seven, Acts Chapter seven. When
we're talking about Stepan today, we are continuing his powerful
message starting at verse sixteen. This brother is preaching under

the anointing of the Holy Spirit, full of wisdom, courage,
and truth, and we're about to walk right in with him.
So let's dive into the new King James version. Then
we'll bring in commentary and also my own personal breakdown,

and then we'll go through the rest of all the
segments in our podcast that we've come accustomed to. There

We allow you, O Lord to take control. O Lord,

I looked up every need, every financial need, every physical need,
every relational need that is represented here by those on
this podcast and those listening. We ask a God that

As I said, we're gonna pick it up in verse sixteen,
and this is Steven's defense. They accuse him of conspiring
with Jesus to tear down the temple, accuse him of

breaking the law of Moses. They just didn't know that
this was the New Covenant. The old Covenant was supposed
to make room for the new Covenant. Jesus is the
fulfillment of the law. So they were having a hard
time understanding this. So they just they hired some shrewd
men to falsely accuse him, and that's breaking the law itself, right,

And so he starts talking about the patriarchs, right, he's

So in verse sixteen, and they were carried back to
Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham brought for

father of Scham. Now that we're talking about the tatriarchs, right,
we're talking about Joseph and his father Jacob and how
he died. He passed away, but he wanted his bones

carried back to Shechem, basically back to Canaan. Even though
the whole family moved to Egypt. The promise was the
land of Canaan. And so this is kind of like
where we pick up his story, right, And so Stephan
is recounting Israel's history by trying to gather the narrative

of the patriarchs. Right here. Now, the burial place at
Shechem sagnifies the continuity of God's covenant. It was through Joseph,
though he died in Egypt, his bones testified that God
would bring his people into the promised Land. When before

he died he made them promise that you will bury
and take my bones to the promised land. Now that
was awesome. Now this verse connects legacy with the location itself. Now,
the word Shechem in Hebrew is shoulder, a place of

strength in bearing a burden, symbolically the bones of the
patriarch's rest there to show God carrying his people through generations.
When they carry God's promises, they carry you, they carry me.

God will carry us when we carry his promises. Amen,
we serve an amazing God. In verse seventeen, But when
the time of promise drew near which God had sworn
to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt. Now,

check this out. God's timing is always always perfect, even
when we suffer oppression, Israel multiplied, even in the midst
of all that drama. Right, God's promises they will never fail,
even when the circumstances may suggest otherwise. We might think

he failed, We might think something else is going on. Now,
the Greek word for a promise here is e p

God never forgets his word over your life. He never
is like a divine assurance. I've heard some people say
blessed assurance. Hey man, even when you feel boxed in

word promise is divine assurance. Look that up and break
that down. We need to really know what the word
of God is saying to us. Till another king of

symbolizes a shift from favor to oppression. Blessing can change
when leaders change, but God's sovereignty doesn't. Just because you
have a new boss or a new manager, and doesn't

Just because people don't recognize your past victories doesn't mean

this man dealt treacherously with our people and oppressed our fathers,

what a character. Now, this pharaoh cruelling was meant to
prevent Israel's deliver from arising. He'll always attack destiny. The
enemy tries to kill what God is birthing in you

before it matures. He always tries to get us before
we grow fully up. But no weapon formed will prosper
because God had a deliverer on the way. He already
had a verse twenty. At this time Moses was born.

And he was brought up in the father's house for
three months Moses's birth is immediately connected to God's favor.

Moses being raised in Pharaoh's house was part of God's plan,
deppearing him to confront Egypt from within. Now I mentioned

God places you in uncomfortable environments to train you for
future assignments. Moses learned diplomacy. He also learned leadership and

strategy inside the enemy's very own care, so he could
one day lead God's people out. Now, some of us,

say in our genre, as I was discipling a young
lady excited about serving God, very young into faith, and
you know, I'm trying to teach her and leader the

And that's where God called him to be. Now, I'm

examine a person's fruit in a person's character. Has God
called and designed you for that ministry? Will that ministry
make you stumble and fall that caused you to fall
back to a past life that you struggled with. If

that's the case, then I would say that is not
your calling. Let somebody else do that. And so this
young lady, she was struggling to come out of life
of homosexuality, She was struggling to stop smoking her weed,

and you know, she just these are the things that
she was Guy was delivering her from. But she was
determined to be like this artist. She wanted to go
to the clubs. She wanted to go to the bars
and do her music. And I said, well, first of all,
you're not mature because you haven't gotten the victory yet

in that area. This is spiritual. The enemy will eat
your lunch. And see. Sometimes people thought that I was
too strict with my ministry. They thought that I wanted
to control the artists and restrict them from freedom. There's
a difference between freedom and are you able to handle
(16:26):
that freedom? Are you mature enough? Are you able to
do that and not go to hell and not destroy yourself?
And so that's the counsel that I was giving her.
I was like, look, you, if you go, you're going
to go back to your old life. If you go
to that bar. This brother is able to do so.

And it wasn't It wouldn't FaZe him. He was anointed
to do so. And God kept them in that And
so you got to pray and know your assignment. No,
I'm not here to control or I'm not here to
do anything, but I'm here to speak the truth out
of the word of God. And so God had anointed
and blessed Pharaoh, bless Moses to be able in the

house to grow up in a household of Pharaoh. You know,
somebody else would have been like, you know what, I'm
gonna stay with Egypt. The Israelites, they slaves out there.
They look like they're working way too hard, like I
don't want nothing to do with it. I'm gonna run
away and divorce my family, and now I'm with Pharaoh

and build Pharaoh's kingdom. Right. But he knew Moses would
have a heart for his people, for the Israelites, and
have a heart and compassion to see them delivered as
we saw. So there's a lot of factors. You can't
just say because somebody's doing it, I can do it too,
especially if you're not spiritually equipped and able to do so,
(17:54):
and if God has not called you to amen. All right,
I don't know where that came from. That just trigger
something in me and hopefully people understand better how I
do things with his hot nation. Okay. And Moses was

learning all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty
in word, and indeed now Egypt was most advanced. It
was one of the first civilizations of its time. Moses
received the best education. God was shaping a leader long
(18:38):
before Moses understood why God was shaping his life. And
God will do the same thing for us. Before God
uses you publicly, he trains you privately. Don't despise the
season you're in. It might be God building your skill sets.

God is getting you ras ready for something You might
be from the back burner. Maybe people don't see you
or recognize you. They need to recognize the hand of
God on your life, Amen, Verse twenty three. Now, when
he was forty years old, it came into his heart

to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. See, it
came into his heart. God stirred up Moses' heart. Moses
began to identify with God's people rather than Egyptian loyalty.
And that's what we just talked about. The calling of

God isn't just heard, it's felt. When God places something
in your heart, nothing can shake it loose hallelujah. That's
exactly how I feel about my calling. Twenty five. And
seeing one of them suffering wrong, he defended and avenge

him who was oppressed and struck down the Egyptian. Now
Moses acted in the flesh, not under God's timing. Deliverage
through human strength always creates problems. God doesn't need our help,
and man, he doesn't need our human strength. Because Moses

had the right calling but used the wrong method at
this time, many of us run ahead of God. Passion
without patience becomes destruction. Oh, let me say that again.
Passion without patience, it can become destruction Verse twenty five.

For he oppressed that his brethren, I mean, he supposed
that his brethren would have understood that God would deliver
them by his hand, but they did not understand. Moses
thought people would recognize his calling, but they didn't. Don't

expect anyone to see what God has shown you. Some
callings aren't revealed to the crowd, only confined by God
and only confirmed by God. Amen. Sometimes you can't follow
the crowd, and I've struggled with that myself, Amen, twenty

six to twenty eight. Then Stefan recounts how Moses tries
to settle a dispute between two Israelites, but one responded,
who made you ruler and judge over us? Right? Dejection
is often part of God's preparation. He wants to prepare us. Right,

Moses faced rejection from those who was called. He was
called to save, the very people that he was called
to minister to reject him. Jesus experienced the same. Sometimes
the people you're trying to help are the ones who
push you away. While I felt that, and man, I

chapter twenty nine, and Moses fled and became a dweller
in the land of Midian, where he had two sons.
Median was Moses' refining ground for forty years. Median equal isolation, preparation.

God hide you before he reveals you. Let me say

you man Verse thirty and when thirty years had passed,
an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a

forget that Moses was transformed when he was encountered by

it up and Acts Chapter seven, Acts Chapter seven. When

message starting at verse sixteen. This brother is preaching under

the anointing of the Holy Spirit, full of wisdom, courage,
and truth, and we're about to walk right in with him.
So let's dive into the new King James version. Then
we'll bring in commentary and also my own personal breakdown,

and then we'll go through the rest of all the
segments in our podcast that we've come accustomed to. There

we thank you, we trust you, we lean upon you.
We allow you, O Lord to take control. O Lord,
just take the will God. Yes, God, it's about you. Lord,

I looked up every need, every financial need, every physical need,
every relational need that is represented here by those on
this podcast and those listening. We ask a God that
you will meet everyone. Lord. You've never lost a battle. God.

done it before. We know you will do it again.
We asked these scenes in Jesus' mighty name, and Amen.

God is so good, his presence is so sweet. All right.
As I said, we're gonna pick it up in verse sixteen,
and this is Steven's defense. They accuse him of conspiring
with Jesus to tear down the temple, accuse him of

breaking the law of Moses. They just didn't know that
this was the New Covenant. The old Covenant was supposed
to make room for the new Covenant. Jesus is the
fulfillment of the law. So they were having a hard
time understanding this. So they just they hired some shrewd
men to falsely accuse him, and that's breaking the law itself, right,

And so they toast him Stephan to answer for these charges.
And so he starts talking about the patriarchs, right, he's
hitting them at the very core, the very foundation, because
they were very proud of their fathers, this nation of Israel,

and you know, there's nothing really wrong with being you know,
the Bible says that the Father is the glory of
the children, but the ultimate Father is our heavenly Father, Amen, hallelujah.
So in verse sixteen, and they were carried back to
Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham brought for

a sum of money for the sons of Hamar, the
father of Scham. Now that we're talking about the tatriarchs, right,
we're talking about Joseph and his father Jacob and how
he died. He passed away, but he wanted his bones
(06:37):
carried back to Shechem, basically back to Canaan. Even though
the whole family moved to Egypt. The promise was the
land of Canaan. And so this is kind of like
where we pick up his story, right, And so Stephan
is recounting Israel's history by trying to gather the narrative
(07:03):
of the patriarchs. Right here. Now, the burial place at
Shechem sagnifies the continuity of God's covenant. It was through Joseph,
though he died in Egypt, his bones testified that God
would bring his people into the promised Land. When before
(07:26):
he died he made them promise that you will bury
and take my bones to the promised land. Now that
was awesome. Now this verse connects legacy with the location itself. Now,
the word Shechem in Hebrew is shoulder, a place of
(07:48):
strength in bearing a burden, symbolically the bones of the
patriarch's rest there to show God carrying his people through generations.
When they carry God's promises, they carry you, they carry me.
(08:09):
God will carry us when we carry his promises. Amen,
we serve an amazing God. In verse seventeen, But when
the time of promise drew near which God had sworn
to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt. Now,
(08:33):
check this out. God's timing is always always perfect, even
when we suffer oppression, Israel multiplied, even in the midst
of all that drama. Right, God's promises they will never fail,
even when the circumstances may suggest otherwise. We might think
(08:58):
he failed, We might think something else is going on. Now,
the Greek word for a promise here is e p
a n g e l i a e pin jellia.
All right, y'all could play with that. A divine assurance.

God never forgets his word over your life. He never
is like a divine assurance. I've heard some people say
blessed assurance. Hey man, even when you feel boxed in
or pressured, God is multiplying something in you. Hey man,

God is still working in us. I love it. The
word promise is divine assurance. Look that up and break
that down. We need to really know what the word
of God is saying to us. Till another king of

Rose who did not know Joseph. Now, this new king
symbolizes a shift from favor to oppression. Blessing can change
when leaders change, but God's sovereignty doesn't. Just because you
have a new boss or a new manager, and doesn't
mean God's purpose and plan for your life has changed.

Sometimes new seasons bring unfamiliar pressures, and I'm feeling that
right now as as we're recording this podcast. They've mad.
Just because people don't recognize your past victories doesn't mean
God has forgotten them. Amen, we can always rejoice and

magnify the Lord in every victory he has rocked on
our behalf. Hallelujah. Nineteen. This man dwelt, not dwelt, But
this man dealt treacherously with our people and oppressed our fathers,
making them expose their babies so that they might not live. Man,

what a character. Now, this pharaoh cruelling was meant to
prevent Israel's deliver from arising. He'll always attack destiny. The
enemy tries to kill what God is birthing in you
(11:43):
before it matures. He always tries to get us before
we grow fully up. But no weapon formed will prosper
because God had a deliverer on the way. He already
had a verse twenty. At this time Moses was born.

We're talking about Moses right, and was well pleasing to God.
And he was brought up in the father's house for
three months Moses's birth is immediately connected to God's favor.
Well pleasing to God. That shows divine purpose from day one, hallelujah. Now,

the Greek phrase at ao teios means beautiful in God's sight.
Now that's beautiful. God sees purpose where others see problems.
You are God's design, not accident. Right verse twenty one

lost another one. But when he was set out, Pharaoh's
daughter took him away and brought him up as her son. Now,
Moses being raised in Pharaoh's house was part of God's plan,
deppearing him to confront Egypt from within. Now I mentioned

this also when I was teaching that fresh win. Sometimes
God places you in uncomfortable environments to train you for
future assignments. Moses learned diplomacy. He also learned leadership and
(13:56):
strategy inside the enemy's very own care, so he could
one day lead God's people out. Now, some of us,
as Christians, we would say, oh that's compromised. Right. Let's

say in our genre, as I was discipling a young
lady excited about serving God, very young into faith, and
you know, I'm trying to teach her and leader the
right way. There's another gospel hip hop artists in the city.

His ministry was to go to bars and clubs like
secular secular bars, secular clubs where they got drugs and
drinking and smoke in the air and all that stuff.
And that's where God called him to be. Now, I'm
not the judge. I can't say yay or nay, right,

but what I can say is this, we need to
examine a person's fruit in a person's character. Has God
called and designed you for that ministry? Will that ministry
make you stumble and fall that caused you to fall
back to a past life that you struggled with. If

that's the case, then I would say that is not
your calling. Let somebody else do that. And so this
young lady, she was struggling to come out of life
of homosexuality, She was struggling to stop smoking her weed,
(15:43):
and you know, she just these are the things that
she was Guy was delivering her from. But she was
determined to be like this artist. She wanted to go
to the clubs. She wanted to go to the bars
and do her music. And I said, well, first of all,
you're not mature because you haven't gotten the victory yet
(16:03):
in that area. This is spiritual. The enemy will eat
your lunch. And see. Sometimes people thought that I was
too strict with my ministry. They thought that I wanted
to control the artists and restrict them from freedom. There's
a difference between freedom and are you able to handle
(16:26):
that freedom? Are you mature enough? Are you able to
do that and not go to hell and not destroy yourself?
And so that's the counsel that I was giving her.
I was like, look, you, if you go, you're going
to go back to your old life. If you go
to that bar. This brother is able to do so.
(16:48):
And it wasn't It wouldn't FaZe him. He was anointed
to do so. And God kept them in that And
so you got to pray and know your assignment. No,
I'm not here to control or I'm not here to
do anything, but I'm here to speak the truth out
of the word of God. And so God had anointed
and blessed Pharaoh, bless Moses to be able in the
(17:09):
house to grow up in a household of Pharaoh. You know,
somebody else would have been like, you know what, I'm
gonna stay with Egypt. The Israelites, they slaves out there.
They look like they're working way too hard, like I
don't want nothing to do with it. I'm gonna run
away and divorce my family, and now I'm with Pharaoh
(17:30):
and build Pharaoh's kingdom. Right. But he knew Moses would
have a heart for his people, for the Israelites, and
have a heart and compassion to see them delivered as
we saw. So there's a lot of factors. You can't
just say because somebody's doing it, I can do it too,
especially if you're not spiritually equipped and able to do so,
(17:54):
and if God has not called you to amen. All right,
I don't know where that came from. That just trigger
something in me and hopefully people understand better how I
do things with his hot nation. Okay. And Moses was
(18:15):
learning all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty
in word, and indeed now Egypt was most advanced. It
was one of the first civilizations of its time. Moses
received the best education. God was shaping a leader long
(18:38):
before Moses understood why God was shaping his life. And
God will do the same thing for us. Before God
uses you publicly, he trains you privately. Don't despise the
season you're in. It might be God building your skill sets.
(18:58):
God is getting you ras ready for something You might
be from the back burner. Maybe people don't see you
or recognize you. They need to recognize the hand of
God on your life, Amen, Verse twenty three. Now, when
he was forty years old, it came into his heart
(19:19):
to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. See, it
came into his heart. God stirred up Moses' heart. Moses
began to identify with God's people rather than Egyptian loyalty.
And that's what we just talked about. The calling of
(19:39):
God isn't just heard, it's felt. When God places something
in your heart, nothing can shake it loose hallelujah. That's
exactly how I feel about my calling. Twenty five. And
seeing one of them suffering wrong, he defended and avenge
(20:02):
him who was oppressed and struck down the Egyptian. Now
Moses acted in the flesh, not under God's timing. Deliverage
through human strength always creates problems. God doesn't need our help,
and man, he doesn't need our human strength. Because Moses
(20:25):
had the right calling but used the wrong method at
this time, many of us run ahead of God. Passion
without patience becomes destruction. Oh, let me say that again.
Passion without patience, it can become destruction Verse twenty five.
(20:50):
For he oppressed that his brethren, I mean, he supposed
that his brethren would have understood that God would deliver
them by his hand, but they did not understand. Moses
thought people would recognize his calling, but they didn't. Don't
(21:11):
expect anyone to see what God has shown you. Some
callings aren't revealed to the crowd, only confined by God
and only confirmed by God. Amen. Sometimes you can't follow
the crowd, and I've struggled with that myself, Amen, twenty
(21:37):
six to twenty eight. Then Stefan recounts how Moses tries
to settle a dispute between two Israelites, but one responded,
who made you ruler and judge over us? Right? Dejection
is often part of God's preparation. He wants to prepare us. Right,
(22:05):
Moses faced rejection from those who was called. He was
called to save, the very people that he was called
to minister to reject him. Jesus experienced the same. Sometimes
the people you're trying to help are the ones who
push you away. While I felt that, and man, I
(22:28):
have felt that twenty nine. Yeah, we're getting through this
chapter twenty nine, and Moses fled and became a dweller
in the land of Midian, where he had two sons.
Median was Moses' refining ground for forty years. Median equal isolation, preparation.
(22:54):
God hide you before he reveals you. Let me say
that again. If God hides you before he reveals you,
you man Verse thirty and when thirty years had passed,
an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a
(23:15):
flame of fire in a bush. This is the moment
of Moses' divine commissioning right here. God shows up when
you least expect him to. Burning bush represents divine fire
that doesn't consume, It just purifies. Let the Holy Spirit

burn in you without burning you out. You know what
I mean. Let the refining fire burn in you so
