app our website, our community, and that they will be
blessed O God, and be able to bless their family members.
Oh God, Thank you Father in the mighty name of Jesus.
(04:21):
Amen and Amen. All right. We are traveling through the
book of John. This is a very rich book. This
book is to help those who are seeking. Yes, you
can call it a seeking friendly book, right. This is
a book that will help us believe that Jesus is
(04:45):
the Messiah. John tells us the reason why he wrote
this book. He wrote this book so that we can
believe that he is the Messiah. So we're going to
see a lot of proof. He's going to do a
lot of many wonderful work. There's gonna be a lot
of things that are gonna take place as we go
through this book. Chapter two, you can say it's like
(05:08):
his coming out in public party. He's been behind his scenes,
he's been building his crew, he's been selecting disciples, he's
been he's been preparing, and so he's gonna, I guess
you could say, begin to come out in public with
his ministry. So we're gonna look at that. We're gonna
(05:30):
look at his mother Mary. She's finally introduced into this, uh,
this gospel in this chapter. Uh. Some of the other
chapters start with her, you know, the story of Christmas,
the Macmraculate Conception, all that. But this book is a
(05:52):
little different. It starts with the beginning and she comes
on the scene here in chapter two, and let's get
into it and let's begin to break it all down.
So it's going to start in verse one and two.
(06:13):
On the third day, there was a wedding in Cana
of Galley and the mother of Jesus was there. Now,
both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding,
all right, so this is pretty cool. It's pretty cool
(06:37):
that Jesus would go to this wedding. Weddings in those
days it would last for like a whole week. It
was a great festive celebration. They would feast and they
would celebrate these weddings. Now for Jesus to show up
(07:01):
and be there, it shows that, for one, his blessings
were upon this marriage, and it tells us that he
is not distant from our daily lives. He is right
here with us celebrating. I just imagine the last wedding
(07:25):
you've attended, and maybe even your own wedding, Jesus is
there in the midst celebrating this occasion. I love this
because it shows that Jesus wasn't too holy to attend
a normal life event, you know what I mean, Like
(07:46):
he was present where joy and love were Like. As believers,
we should be present in the lives of the people
around us, and we need to bring Jesus with us
wherever we go. I mean, think about that. We have
the privilege, we have the honor to bring Jesus with
(08:12):
us wherever we go. That just hit me right here
and right now. It's like whenever we're invited to something
or invited to go somewhere, Jesus is living on the
inside of us, and we bring his presence with us
(08:33):
wherever we go. Amen, all right, let's hit verse three.
It says, and when they ran out of wine, the
mother of Jesus said to him, they have no wine. Now,
as I said, this is the introduction of the mother
(08:58):
of Jesus, Mother Mary, and I want to spend a
little time talking about this blessed woman. I think it's
a little tragic that our Catholic brothers and sisters decided
to lift her up to deity. I believe that they
(09:22):
worship her. I believe that they elevated her to a
place that she was never intended to d and that
we can read right here in this story how Jesus
reacts to her and throughout the Gospels. When he was
twelve years old, the family traveled to Jerusalem, and they
(09:46):
lost them, and they couldn't find them, and they went back,
and his response to her was, you know, do you
not know that I should be about my father's business? Right?
Of course, she was concerned, you know, for her son
to take care of him. And it wasn't that Jesus
was being disrespectful at all towards his mother. He submitted
(10:09):
to her. And also you see another time in the
life of his mother where Jesus was teaching and his
ministry was so great to where the crowds would gather
and he wouldn't even have time to eat or rest.
He was just constantly ministering to the people. So of
(10:32):
course his mother, as a mother would and should, got concerned.
So she went basically to go rescue him from the crowd,
and so she couldn't really get through the crowd, but
she sent a message to him to say, your mother
and brothers are here for you, and Jesus. His response is,
my mother and my brothers. Who is my mother? Who
(10:54):
is my brothers? My mother and my brothers are those
who do the will of the Father. Amen. And then
we're gonna see his response here as as his mother
comes to him. Now they ran out of wine. Now
(11:16):
that was a major embarrassment in Jewish Jewish culture. See
Mary knowing who Jesus was, looked to him for help. Now,
sometimes when life runs out on us, when we're empty.
We need to go straight to Jesus, just like she did. Now,
(11:39):
notice Mary didn't run to the stores, she didn't run
anywhere else. She went to her son, the son of God.
Jesus knew I mean Mary knew his true identity. She
knew that she could go to him, right, And this
is almost in a way saying, hey, it's time for
(12:02):
you to be public. It's time for you to show
what you can do. Like she knew something about him
in order to go I mean, it's almost like if
I go to a picnic with my church and we
run out of juice, Like what would make me go
(12:26):
to my daughter our money and say, hey, they ran
out of juice. Either she's got money to buy more,
or she's got the ability to do something about it,
or she can do mirac she has miracle working power
and make juice just appear. So Mary knew something about Jesus.
(12:50):
A lot of people didn't know. And so it could
be her saying, hey, it's time to go public with
your abilities. Now, Like I said, that's just my opinion.
But let's get to the word. All right, we're gonna
go where we're gonna go. Four and five follow me.
(13:13):
Four and five, Jesus said to her, woman, what does
your concern have to do with me? My hour has
not yet come? So this is loaded. This is loaded.
Their discussion is not that he doesn't have the ability
to do anything. He's just saying that his hour has
(13:34):
not yet come. Whereas five his mother said to the servants,
whatever he says to you, do it. Amen, whatever he
says to you, do it now. Jesus wasn't being disrespectful
by using the term woman right. Woman was a formal
(13:58):
way of addressing her, But he was reminding her that
his mission was on God's tiny not human tining right now.
Mary's response right here is amazing. She said to him,
whatever he says to you, do it. That's the secret
(14:21):
of the Christian life right there. Obedience simple but powerful.
Let me say that again. That is the secret to
the Christian life. It's our obedience to him. It's simple,
but our obedience is powerful. The gates of hell cannot
(14:46):
do anything with an obedient Christian. Amen. They hate obedient Christians.
Those who actually discipline and purpose in their lives. They
should be followers of Christ. All right. Six through a
(15:08):
Now there were set Now there were set there are
six water pots of stone according to the manner of
Purification of the Jews, detaining twenty or twenty gallons of peace.
Jesus said to them fill the pots with water, and
(15:33):
they filled them up to the brim. And Jesus said
to them, draw some out now and take it to
the Master of the feast. And they took it. Wow,
now this is just straight amazing. Hey man. Now, the
(15:57):
servants that he spoke to, they had to act out
of faith. They knew that this was water, they knew
what it was, but they filled the pots with water.
Now wine was needed, so it's like, okay, this doesn't
(16:24):
make sense, Like why would we fill the pots up
with water, but we know that we need wine at
this party. Obedience brings miracles. They obeyed the voice. They
could have said, no, we're not getting water, we need
(16:44):
to go to the store, but no, they chose to
be obedient and they filled it up. Now, sometimes God
will ask us to do what doesn't make sense. We
just obey and we just have faith. That's when transformation happens.
(17:09):
All he wants is our obedience, and he just wants
us to have faith. Hey man, all right, let's go
nine to ten first nine, when the master of the
feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and
(17:33):
did not know where it came from. But the servants
who drew the water new. The master of the feast
called the bridegroom, and he said to him, every man
at the beginning says out a good wine, And when
the guests have well drunk, then the inferior you have
(17:54):
kept the good wine until now. Wow. Okay, well, let's
break this down some more. Now the finest wine that
(18:15):
was ever created. Right, Jesus never does anything halfway. The
old life fades away, but the new life he gives
is way better. Now. The world gives you the best first,
then leaves you with nothing. Jesus saves the best for
(18:40):
last eternal life, joy and peace. Don't settle for what
the world offers. Don't just settle because it's gonna fade away.
The world is gonna try to tell you live your
best life now, yolo, right, they tell you that your
(19:02):
youth is the best time of your life. It's all over.
When you over the hill, you get old and die,
and there's nothing left for you. But in the Kingdom
of God, that is only the beginning. The best is
the end of the matter, then the beginning of a matter. Amen,
(19:22):
I choose the kingdom. All right, let's look at verse eleven.
Here it looks like you lost another one. Now the
beginning of the signs Jesus did in Kingda of Galilee
(19:43):
and manifested his glory and his disciples believed in him. Amen.
Now I'll check it out. This is the first miracle
that reveals his glory. It strengthened his disciples faith. Miracles
(20:11):
aren't just about solving problems in our lives. They are
about revealing who Jesus truly is. When God moves in
our life, it should deepen our faith. And I have
to give a hallelujah right here to give God praise
(20:33):
because I think of the multiple miracles situations that I
know I was not able to get out of if
it wasn't for God intervening in my life. Hey man, hallelujah,
and not owe him the praise and the adoration for that.
(20:57):
This is amazing. Here, Now what I want to get
out of this, This is the beginning of the signs
Jesus did. Remember, God is going to judge us by
our works. Our works are the proof of what we
(21:24):
profess what we say. We can say we believe, we
can say we're Christians, But do you have the works
that follow.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
One?
Speaker 1 (21:35):
And I'm thinking again about the narrow world, the narrow
path that is difficult, and few find it. Right, God
just touching me with that the other day, And as
I think about it, what makes the narrow path so difficult?
It's a path where we must resist temptation, is a
(21:59):
path where we must developed discipline and commitment. We have
to be intentional to walk down that path. The path
of destruction is easy. It's lack of discipline. You don't
need to be disciplined. You can be lazy, do what
you want, go where you want, sleep, eat, do whatever
you want. There's no discipline to that life. You can
(22:21):
enjoy every bit of temptation. You can indulge yourself on
everything the world has to offer. There's no restraint, no nothing.
And so that should be an indication of what path
we're walking down, heymen, And I pray that we all
walk down this narrow path. But speaking about these works,
(22:44):
the signs that follow Christ, he used his very works
to prove his that he's authentic. What word am I
trying to say? Authentic. See, I don't know that's the
correct way. Let me know in live chat. But to
(23:04):
prove that he is the Messiah, he said, look at
the very works that I do right, And his works
spoke a lot, his miracles spoke a light, a lot
of God's witness, and the autensive a tenthesy of his ministry.
But I want to take it one step further. The
(23:27):
word the God tells us that angels are keeping record
every work, every look, every glance, every thought, every action,
and every word that we speak is written down in books.
And so our works we will be a judge according
to our works as well. And so my suggestion is
(23:51):
to allow Jesus to work his works through and in
our lives, that our lives will match up with his,
because he is the way, the truth in the life.
These are the beginning of his signs and the works
that He's gonna bless us to be able to do
(24:13):
the same works as he's done. A man, hallelujah. All right,
let's go to verse twelve. They're gonna take it all
the way through. So after this he went down to Capernaum,
(24:36):
he his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they
did not stay there many days. Now the passover of
the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
and he found in the temple those who sold oxen
in sheep and doves, and the money changeers doing business.
(25:02):
When he had made a whip of cords, he drove
them out of the temple with the sheep and the oxen,
and poured out the changer's money and overturned the tables.
And he said, to those who soul does take these
things away, do not make my father's house a house
(25:26):
of merchandise. Then his disciples remembered that it was written
zeal for your house has eaten me up and man.
So the Jews answered and said to him, what sign
do you show us, since you do these things. Jesus
(25:47):
answered and said to them, destroy this temple, and in
three days I will raise it up. And the Jews said,
it has taken forty six years to build this temple,
and will you raise it up in three days? But
he was speaking of the temple of his body. Therefore,
(26:11):
when he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered
that he had said this to them, and they, believing
the scripture and the word which Jesus had said. Now,
when we saw in Jerusalem the Passover during the feast,
(26:33):
many believed. Excuse me. Now, when he was in Jerusalem
at the past over during the feast, many believed in
his name when they saw the signs which he did.
So Jesus did many signs after that first one. Jesus
did not commit himself to them, because he knew all
(26:55):
men and had no need that anyone should testify of men,
for he knew what was in man. Wow, that was
a lot right there. So let's begin to break it down. Now,
Jesus goes to Capernaum with his family and disciples. Now
(27:21):
at the Passover, he cleans the temple, driving out the
money changes. Now in the temple is where well, let's
say these money changers. They say that when you sacrifice,
(27:43):
you have to sacrifice a lamb that had no blemish.
And so when people would bring their lambs from their flock,
they would check them over and if they had blemishes,
they would give them one of their own lambs, but
they would raise the price. It was like racketeering. They
(28:05):
were really profiting off of this. How many people have
profited off of the Gospel illegitimately. How many people have
made them ponzi schemes, and it really brings reproach into
the Gospel. These people will have to give a serious
account for this. Look at the attitude of Christ, if
(28:28):
you really want to see that, you Jesus of the Bible.
Look at the fact that he made a whip of
cords and he overthrew the temples. No one dared to
stop them, and he was whipping and beating people like
this is God, this is his heart. His attitude and
(28:49):
the zeal for his father's house ate him up. How
many of us have the zeal for our father's house?
How many of us have a zeal in the church
that we go to the work that God is building,
the work that God is doing in us? Do we
(29:11):
have the same zeal to where we want to protect
the very presence and move of God. This, it's just questions.
Then the Jews, they wanted to see a sign, and
he said, destroy this temple and in three days I
will raise it up. Now he was pointing to his
(29:33):
death and resurrection. His disciples remember that. But when Jesus
was on trial, this was like the only thing they
could come up with to accuse him of that he
would and it sounds ridiculous, like he was really going
to destroy the temple and build it in three days,
(29:55):
and so they were just trying to find charges against him.
Now many believed because of the signs he did, but
he knew everyone's heart. Now, religion without heart is empty.
(30:15):
Jesus wasn't impressed by shallow faith tied to the miracles, right,
he just had a belief. But Jesus would not commit
himself to those people. Jesus is after real transformation, not
surface level belief. Don't just follow him for the blessings,
(30:41):
follow him for who he is a man. It's almost
like a king who would disguise himself looking for a wife,
looking to see who would love him for him, not
just for what he has. And once he finds his
bride and she falls in love with him, and then
(31:02):
he reveals to her all of the riches and everything
he possesses, it's almost like the same concept. He wants
our hearts to love him for him. But it also
says that his disciples even at the wedding. It says
that his disciples believed on him after he turned the
(31:24):
water into wine. Now it says, Obviously they had to
have believed in him because they left their nets, they
left their fishing business, they left everything to come follow him.
You have to believe in someone to a point if
I'm just gonna leave my job, that, if I'm gonna
leave my family or whatever to come follow you, there's
(31:47):
got to be something there. But then it said after
the miracle, they believed in him. Now this turned into trust.
They just openly fully trust everything unto him with confidence,
knowing that he will take care of everything. And this
is where we struggle. And this is where I've struggled.
(32:08):
In the areas where we struggle, those are the areas
that we don't trust him completely and fully. And so
we need to pray that our belief turns into trust
because there is a difference. Belief is just head knowledge.
Like you can agree it makes sense to you. You
(32:30):
think this is correct. But trust is putting your life
in his hands without reservation. Hey man, all right, it's
time for a quick music break. We will be right back.

(38:35):
you to be obedient? That doesn't make sense to you? Right?
God may be calling you to obey, but it doesn't
necessarily make sense. Talk about it, pray about it, and
take action, you know what I'm saying. Like, I get
(38:58):
on a call daily just about after this podcast, every
day at eleven o'clock. Then we go over the podcast,
or we just go over different things that we may
be dealing with. We talk about it, we pray about it,
we encourage each other. That's accountability. If you want that,
download his Hot Radio app. Go to my podcast the
