Speaker 1 (00:00):
Got y y.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
You buy out.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
I don't lie about my.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Bag, darn it. Uh yeah, hold on because my big fingers.
This is just getting worse because I can't I can't

(00:46):
move the button.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Oh no, this is enjoyable horrible.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
She was probably laughing. I can't you got the I
can't move the ticker down to put him in. Uh
oh oh, my fingers are I hate when it's not
full screened. Oh wow, this is really good. I'm gonna
leave this all in the podcast.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
By the way, eventually we'll get to an intro.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Oh there's swim, but no Steven. Oh yeah, so that's
all great stuff that we're going to leave right in
this podcast for audio only. Hi, my name is Bill Dean,
and welcome all to hock intap podcast where I mess
things up regularly. This one was pretty good because if

(01:41):
you if you can't see for those behind the glass
on the video only, this is what I'm working with.
It's it's how to start the podcast. Sam Wu is
the absolute best. He sets up all these trigger things
for him to do. But as you can see, this
is my pointer finger and these little time things here,
the words here. I have to hit each one of

(02:02):
those consecutively, and then I have to make sure I
don't skip things and do some other things. So this
big fat finger touches those little small keys, and if
I mess up, bad things happen. So yeah, this is
hacking podcast. And yeah, when shorts guy is gone, he's out,

(02:26):
he's not in today. Good for him, smart on him.
But this is Shwim and Steven and we're brought to
be a part time radio. I am once again behind
the Glass and you can find us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Apple,
Google Podcasts, Spotify, and iHeart radio. That's the only thing
I don't seem to mess up. Leave us five stars
if you'd be ever so kind, gentlemen, what are we drinking?

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Zero stars? I'm I'm still on my journey. This is
Amazonia Hendrix, inspired by the tropical flavors of the Amazon.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Hm hmm, so what is the tropical flavors of the Amazon.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Let's start that botanicals. So I don't think they Yeah,
they don't actually like list what it is, no, but
they do say that with every with every I don't
know if I believe this, but with every bottle purchased,
a tree will be planted. Efforts in the Amazon rainforest.

(03:26):
One tree planted is what it's called.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
So apparently. The tropical rain flavors on the Amazon occurring
according to uh Google Ai is Asai coup o, poop,
coupa uka coop, coup waku, and kamu kamu, unique spices,
nerves such as jambu and pimenta, baniawa, and staples like
yukon pointans. Other notable flavors include the semi and sweetened

(03:52):
tart cocona, the pineapple chocolate scented coopa u waku, and
the tingling sensation from the jam bu herb.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Okay Yeah, is this from Hendrix or is this just
like overall amazonh.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, just overall so coupoo waku the one I could
not pronounce. Known for its aroma of chocolate and pineapple,
this fruit has a rich, creamy pulp used in juices
and desserts that sounds delicious. By the way, uh Coconna
is a tangy fruit with a flavor similar to a
tomato or passion fruit. Tomatoes and passion fruits taste the same.

(04:28):
I don't think, so yeah, Used in juices and desserts.
Mora kuya, also known as passion Fruitkuya marakuya see why
why could you be pronouncing pronouncing this stuff at? Kamu.
Kamu is a sourberry with vitamin sea content high vitamin
sea content used to add a tart flavor to drink

(04:51):
some foods Aguaye is a sweet and salty and slightly
acidic fruit that grows on palm trees. And Takuma is
an orange leaf fruit with a slight lease with a
large seed known for its strong savory flavor.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
I know someone is oily as well.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah we know.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Think uh this Hockey Tap podcast, uh shwim is gonna
tell us his beer later on because I didn't do
that first. We went on a big tangent right here.
Uh so Stephen had yes, someone did uh me, there's

(05:29):
a hair on my beer, probably from my beard. This
is just a disaster. I went to Burnt Mills. By
the way, if you were in New Jersey in Bedminster,
please visit Burnt Mills Cider. Uh it is I think
the best cider around in in New Jersey. I'd put
it up against anybody really anywhere, but this.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
One is pretty cool Jersey, New York.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Pettings is in New York. It's in uh Warwick.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
So this is the tap room special and is Peach Fire.
So it's peach, mango and hobbin yero. So I'm very
excited to try this one. That really Oh my god,
that's fantastic because you get the peach first and then
all of a sudden, hobby narrow. That's cool.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
That's the one we had when we were there a
few weeks ago. I know that there was a hobby
Arrow one. I don't remember what else it was with.
I want to say it was mango and peach. That's
the case it was.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
That is very delightful. A whole candidate is going to
be interesting. Yeah, all right, let's go. Let's app for
today's episode. Here's a weekly snapshot. We were gonna start
with a team that is playing extremely well right now. Uh,
And I was gonna say some very nice things about
this team in front of shorts Guy because he doesn't

(06:49):
believe me that I think that this team is really
on the upswing.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
And.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I guess, to me, contender. I've thought of them as
a contender really since the beginning of the year, but
Shortz Guy just didn't want to come on to have me.
Finally you know, tell them, but it's the Utah a myth.
They eight and two sixteen points, tied for first in

(07:17):
the entire league, by the way, tied for first with
the entire league. They have the most goals scored at
thirty seven. They're plus different goal differential is plus thirteen,
which is tied for first twim. I just got into
this real fast. But I was telling Steve and you
know what I was telling you. I was on text

(07:38):
that I was going to talk, you know, very nicely
about a team, a team that I think is a contender,
and it's the Utah Mammth. Oh yeah, but uh, what
is your beer? A real fast and then we can
get into the Utah Ammth and how awesome they're.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Playing in honor. If you're a stinky intro, I'm get
a drink a stink. I don't even know how old
estella is. It's been in my fridge forever. Oh my god,
it's gonna be so skunked. So this is my punishment
for your stinky intro.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
For being stinky.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Oh my god, it smells lovely. There's no botanical not
not not.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Confused with the Amazonian flavors.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yeah, my lord, this smells.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Not this is this is the other flavors of the Amazon.
This is the flavors no one wants you to smell.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Oh yeah, these are the flavors nobody talks about.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
How did you end up with a stella in your fridge?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
I think they were I think they were Cynthia's father's
beers that he left here because that's what he drinks.
He drinks that.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
And listen, your dad drinks sellas. Now, my dad like
your dad Peroni. Okay, that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
Another, yeah, go figure sense, Stephen.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Why does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (09:03):
No reason?

Speaker 4 (09:04):
You know, no reason, no particular reason. Oh you know
you know shwim and dad. Then yeah it makes sense.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Uh man. So yeah, about those Utah Mammoth the team
that I wanted to talk so highly about. Shorts guy.
Obviously the title, give me six Schmaltzes. Uh Nick Schmaltz
leading leading the league in points, right, and that's crazy
young NHL season. Yeah, that would not be on my
Bengal card to start the year, you know, even two

(09:35):
or three weeks in that he is the league guy.
Obviously he's tied right now with Jack Eichele for first,
but sixteen points.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
I think he's alone, isn't.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Heed sixteen But and my other title for this pod,
which we went to with Schmaltzz first, but was celebrating
CELBRAINI because back with CELEBRAINI, fifteen points isn't ty. Sorry,
he's in for third first start of the week. Correct,
he destroyed the.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
New York second Star of the week. Speaking of Mammoth,
U til Mammoth second Star of the week, Logan.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Cooley, Logan Cooley.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Now Cooley had seven points in two games.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Yes, Hugh, he had a very good week. We'll talk
about the devils. I'm obviously you know here, Uh listen, Yeah, no, no, no,
I am uh. I think US and Canada respectively need

(10:36):
to have both Celebriny and Logan Cooley on their Olympic roster.
And they don't have to be a starter. But have they.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Not?

Speaker 2 (10:46):
There shouldn't be. He's he wasn't originally right.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
No, well no, and I mean because you know, I
think he kind of came on. He came on a
little late last season. Right then he get injured right
in the beginning of the season or whatever. Yeah, was
he he was Yeah, he was a rookie. Was he
a rookie last year?

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Yeah? He was y rook lst year.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Yeah yeah, jeez, my my years. And then the year before.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Yeah it was it was a defensive Hudson.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Hudson, Yeah I want it.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, sorry, Yeah. Sixty three points in seventy games last year. Uh,
that kid is disgusting.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yeah, he's gonna be legit, yes.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
But the one that really I don't think many people
talk about is Logan Cooley, who right now is you know,
he's got seven goals eleven points in ten games. That
line of him, J J. Peterka and Dylan Gunther.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Is is there for.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
I really liked that team. I really really liked that team.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Players like young like Anaheim or San Jose. They have
these good young player they're still like a couple of
years away. Utah's like good young players.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Are like here and out, like they're not prospects.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Is still young and he's yeah, I mean number one
Barrett Hayton, So he's still young.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Yeah. I was just say, Keller's twenty seven years old.
He's not an old guy. He's he's in that prime awesomeness.
Barrett Hayton is awesome. Is that second line center obviously
of Keller Jack McBain is a very good young forward.
Liam O'Brien is one of the older guys, but he
you know, gives you a little bit of everything they
just got, Uh yeah, Kerfoot and Schmaltz, who were just said,

(12:37):
you know stenland Carsone, Schwim's brethren, Brandon tannev Kyler Yamamoto
even as a you know, a third fourth line plug.
And then their defense we talked to.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
You know, I like Michelli on that team too, but
he's obvious, he's obviously gone.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
I know that.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
But I liked him there.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
I liked him too. I liked him a lot. Yeah,
but trum talking about Sergachev, but Vallamachi and Sean Dursey and.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
How about the how about who leads the league and
wins right now? Also don't forget that, Yeah, Carl Lco.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, we've said watch him as a sneaky VESNA candidate.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
He came out of nowhere last year. So now he's
just like rolling from last year yeah into this year.
So he's uh, he's a legit. He's like the number one,
number one work orse. There's no like, yeah, you know
you're playing him sixty plus games every year. Yeah, but
they're obviously on on a heater right now. We talked

(13:41):
about it there in their last ten they're well eight
and two because they only have ten games, but I
think they're in a four game win streak or five
good win streak five games Oh no, sorry, seven game
win streak. I was way off, but that is to
be trumped by the New Jersey Devils eight and one,
sixteen points, also nine games played, winners of eight straight.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
We saw them play Edmonton last weekend, UH and they
looked good, a little underwhelming. I thought Edmonton what didn't
play very well, but they did play. The Devil's played
very well.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
And listen they I don't think they're very good.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
We'll see you about the frauds.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Frauds.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
They're tenders, not contenders.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Frauds. Oh yeah, you have the Vegas Vegas as the
UH as the representative for the Western.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Conference powerhouse right now there, and you add and now
you add the Mammoth to this list of freaking powerhouses
over there. It's it's a it's gonna be it's gonna
be tough sledding. Further, whoever the hell comes out of
the West and the East. First round, I don't know that.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
First round is gonna be awful. There's gonna be so
many good teams gone.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Yeah. But back to the Devils. Huge eight goals, Uh Bratt,
you know, eleven points, he shares played really well, nine
points and nine games. Even Mercer, who's someone that Devil's
fans were a little bit down on last year, he's
got nine eight points. You know, the horrible contract that
is Timomyer. He's having a decent start.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Connor Brown had the goal, you know, shorthanded, He's been
extremely good. Luke Cues running the power play. You know,
the points aren't there, but he still looked pretty decent. Yeah,
this team right is offensively, I think they're very gifted defensively,
you know the defensive showdown. Do they have the the

(15:39):
you know, the chops to to do it. I think
that's a little bit to be seen. I just to
me for the Devils, I can't get excited about their
goaltending situation. I still don't think it is. It's okay.
I mean, you guys tell me if you think I'm wrong.
You know, between Jake Allen and.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
I think it's probably better than okay, but it's not
elite mark Strom.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Yeah, but I mean Allen's five and oh he's done
very well. Markstrom has not looked good to start the season.
It's just when you look at the Stanley Cup contenders
and the guys that have won the last four years,
five years, those are legit top five, yeah without Vegas,
but they're legit top five NHL goalies, right. Bobrovski obviously

(16:26):
Swim's boy Vassi.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
That the range case, because I don't know that I
would call Bob Rovsky a top five top I mean,
he's he's in the argument, I think, but I mean,
right off the top of your head, you know, Vassilevski, Shaserking,
hell of book are your top five? Well then miss,

(16:50):
but he's you know, he's he's there, And then you
have guys who are just kind of like should be there,
I guess, But but I don't know Bobrowski's he's I
feel like he's just he played very very well in
these last two playoffs, and I think he played okay
during the season, better than okay during the season, but.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Yeah, he was good all right, and in the in
the playoffs he's lights out right well mostly mostly, I
mean when you look at it, but when you look
at who's doing well this year. You know, Logan Thompson
and Dobesh and Dan vi Ladar and obviously Jake Allen

(17:26):
Spencer Night. Those aren't really the guys you think.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
A lot of. You got a lot of backups. You
got a lot of backups in the top statistics right now,
So I would wait, it's hard to gauge at this
early in the season when they played so few games.
And if you have if you play like three games,
four games where you let up, you know, won two goals,
your stats are incredible, but that's not going to last.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Well, those are all guys that have played at least
five games that I just lobbed off there. But yeah,
they're backups that are playing well.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
I like that kid in Montreal, especially that is now
he's he's replaced Montebau, who's the third stringer for Team Canada.
It's like they're gonna go with him into the into
the Olympics.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
I never liked.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yeah, I wasn't always crazy about how I'm like, he's
not a bad goalie by any means, but like I
was like, he's not. This guy's pretty legit.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Yeah, ye had didn't hit his first, his first couple
of games or something. In the last season, wasn't he
like won his first handful or something doing crazy?

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Right?

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Wasn't he like super super hot coming into the league
last year?

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Came in? I forget what did he He wasn't there
like he came in like midway or something.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Didn't he wasn't there from like midsh Yeah, probably right in.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
The beginning, like because of injuries or something like that.
He came in and then like February awesome when he
first came in. But like this year, he looks he's
won five straight. He's he looks really good. So I'm
right now, it's his crease. He's not coming out.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
There's no way he's playing.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
That team is playing good and he's playing really good.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
They are they're a way so.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Another good like a bunch of good young players that
are starting to like, you know, show their stuff.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
Yeah, yeah, finally coming around.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeah, Demidov is a very good young player. One of
the good young players that's an absolutely horrible is Matthevic Mitschkov.
I don't know what is happening. Is he gonna leave
Philly because he's there's like stifling him.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Yeah, there's I mean there there's a lot of everybody
is you know, talking about tacket Is basically you know
John Toterella junior over there, Yeah, and gonna run out
the young players. I don't know. I always liked talk
it and I always knew he was like two years coach,
So I can't speak to that, but I mean, you

(19:50):
like to everybody's scapegoat when a player is underachieving that
that much is the coach right, the coach in the
system and the fact that it talket benched him right
for a whole period one game maybe or something along
the lines. I heard, you know, it's that accountability. Accountability
is important, I think in this league. But I don't

(20:13):
he's your best player. You can't bent you can't bench
your best player.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
No, and he really he's legit their best player. And
if you need a goal, why would you not, even
if he's you know, maybe not backchecking the way you
want it, want him to be any little you know, spark,
he's that guy. So we'll see what happens with.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Ice time. Average isn't really all that much. He plays
like thirteen fourteen to fifteen minutes a game.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
They really only use him on power play and I
don't know if you saw this, but there was an
article about him that he is the first person to
stand up and raise his hand when they get like
a too many men penalty because he likes to go
in the box and then he waits for the come
out of the box and score like a breakaway goal.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah, that's what is like number one thing he wants
to do. It's very funny because he's just that's good though,
Like he wants to go. He wants to score goals,
like get that guy at the one.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
I mean, if you're not.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Yeah right, he's got in the season, that game he
played almost nineteen minutes. That's his only game. Every other
game he's played fifteen fourteen or less. And in that
one game he played twelve minutes. That might have been
the game where he got benched.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
There's definitely been some a crowd, not just there, but
across the league more than a few instances of very
questionable usage from some of these players. I know that
you in our you know group text. Just for one
example was Ryan Donado, you know, arguably Chicago's best offensive player.
If you want to say it's Badard Donado is electric

(21:48):
and he was he was again he started the season
getting eleven thirteen minutes of ice time average. I'm like,
and then you know his offense now if you keeping
track of his stats have ticked up because now his
ice time is going up and up and up. In
last game he averaged twenty minutes or he not average,
he had twenty minutes of ice time, and you know,
now he's starting to produce the first time. It's like

(22:10):
the use I don't understand, Like, well, I don't know
what these coaches are doing, Like they're refusing to put
you know, guys on the top power play unit who
should and need to be on the top top power
play unit, and you're just getting like this, I don't know.
It's it's strange to me. That was definitely one of them,
but it was another one. I think Emmett Finney right

(22:31):
on Detroit, one of the hottest young players there, and
then like they were hesitant to give him more ice time,
and finally I think they put him up on the
top power play and he's still continuing to do really well.
So it's I don't know what this hesitation is across
the league, but I guess apparently Mitchkoff isn't immune to it.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
That's a couple of things to get into as we
discuss obviously this, but uh, other stuff's kind of going
on in the league. Happy and I forgot to lead
off with this one, but Happy Sports Equinox. Did you
guys see this today? You get all five major sports,

(23:13):
all five because you have the NHL, you have the NBA,
you have NFL, you have MLB, and you have MLS.
So yeah, there's I think I saw this. There was
eight games. I can go over this whole thing for you.
My stupid phone would let me.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
All thirty two teams play tomorrow? Right, am I correct
in that?

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:38):
So that was the other thing.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
So today, yeah, twenty twenty five edition features game three
for the World Series Monday Night Football, which is Washington
and Casey. You have NHL's two contests, NBA is eleven,
and then MLS has two games, and then also to
Steven's point or sorry, Shrimp's point, tomorrow you have thirty

(24:02):
two teams playing sixteen games from starting at six o'clock
every thirty minutes going all the way to eleven thirty start,
which is the last game, which I forgot was eleven. Yeah,
it's a Western Conference or eleven o'clock start LA at
San Jose. Eleven o'clock, so six o'clock is Pittsburgh at Philly.

(24:28):
Then you got every you know, kind of falls in there.
Tampa plays Nashville, the Devil's play at Colorado, and then
New York plays at Vancouver, the return of JT. Miller
to Vancouver, and then finally, like I said, you finish
off the night cap LA at San Jose. So fun,
it's it's a good time to be a hockey fan

(24:49):
and if you can. Obviously you know they're gonna try
out that red zone thing again.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Yeah the other day the six games on it. It
was interesting.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Yeah, yeah, it's cool because I mean never so that's cool.
I highly recommend it. Yeah, NHL network, I believe I
could turn it up or turn on NHL red Zone.
Uh it's called Frozen Frenzy. Sorry, and it is on
uh it says ESPN. Another example is Amazon primes Coast

(25:20):
to Coast, which is available in Canada. But yeah, ESPN
is calling it Frozen Frenzy, so that it'll be on
ESPN tomorrow. I don't know what time, but take it
up looking your local networks. Uh So Yeah, some good
stuff there a lot of hockey. Uh any games do

(25:42):
you guys specifically like in that slate? Philly Pitt Yeah,
Calgary Toronto, Vegas at Carolina could be a Stanley Cup
Final preview.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Vegas has lost too straight, It's only scored one goal.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Winnipeg got Minnesota is pretty decent one. Washington at Dallas.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
I feel like New Jersey. I'm kind of underwhelmed with Minnesota,
to be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, okay, that's fine. Uh Utah ed Medton.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
They don't excite me at the moment.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
How about this game Montreal at Seattle, a clash of
two teams that are currently leading their divisions. Oh, Seattle
was one point back, they were in second yre and
second half, but they at one time were leading the
Pacific and Montreal is currently leading the Atlantic. Also not
on my card for starting the season. All right, what else?

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Did I have?

Speaker 2 (26:42):
Some good stuff? We talked about Devils the mammoth Icaele
possibly in the lead for the scoring title, swim and
this is for me and you and I know you
gotta win yesterday. You know you didn't totally ship the
bed like Eric Rangers. But are we cooked already? Are

(27:06):
both our teams cook New York.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Yeah, I was saying, like yesterday or this weekend, they
had back to backs, they had a Saturday Sunday game,
and I was saying, my hand was on the panic button,
not pressing it, but it was on the panic button
if they did like horrible this weekend. They won both
games this weekend, so I took my hand off the panet.
It's still on the table next to the panic button,
but it's not on it anymore. Because they played really well,

(27:30):
especially against Vegas yesterday. They dominated Vegas and unfortunately, for
whatever reason, this freaking goalie that's never played an anyhow
game in his life was outstanding for Vegas. Now lind
baumb or something, I forget his name, Yeah, and he
was phenomenal and Tampa was dominated. They're out shooting him

(27:50):
like twenty four to eight through two periods and things
like that. They completely shut down. They shut down the
Marner and Eichel pretty much the entire game, and luckily
they were able to win in overtime, which is something
they normally do not do. But they played very well
in that Vegas game. So I hope they can catapult
that win into you know, some more wins. They got

(28:13):
Nashville coming up. They can hopefully win that game, but
then they have a pretty tough road. They're playing Colorado
the Mammoth and somebody else out west. I forgot that's
really good for the twenty two year old Swedish rookie Carlinis.
His parents are at the game, and his mom was
like a resident in Tampa or something when she or
an exchange shooting or something in Tampa when she went

(28:35):
to college, so she like lived in Tampa for a
bunch of years. And now the best first game ever
they came back. He played amazing.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
I think I think both of you have the benefit
well obviously me as well, but I think as far
as hitting the panic button, like all three of us
were in the we're in the Eastern Conference, and I
think the Eastern Conference is such a crapshoot right now
that I can see any team going on a run
of wins and any team going on a run right yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Okay, like nobody's nobody's nobody's running away. That's why like
Tampa is still for as badly as they've been playing
to start this season. They also another note the beginning
of their start the start that they had was the
worst start they've ever had in franchise history. That's crazy
to me.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Yeah, man, I got a case. No the shot that
Chari just I can't describe. You have to see it.
It's just like he got a pass in like the
high slot and he just like corralled it. Not a

(29:44):
one timer, but corralled it and just like risted it
all in one motion. But as he was doing that,
the puck came up on end. So he basically just
threw it at the freaking Saint Louis Blues player and
hit him right in the chest and he was about
three feet to the left a freaking post.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Just looks.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
It was funny, all right.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
So we'll do in the holiday season, that is obviously
this Friday Halloween, a little trick or treat.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
So I'm gonna give you something, and you guys would
tell me if it's a trick or a treat, and
we'll start actually with Steven's Pittsburgh Penguins. Is it trick
or treat? Meaning is it you know for the layman? Uh?
Is it something we can see continuing to go the
way it is? Or is it a joke?

Speaker 4 (30:34):
So it's subjective.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
I want to hear about you.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
So Pittsburgh, Okay, okay, let's go. Oh, just the Penguins
in general in general. I thought you're gonna give me
like a player or something.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Different things, different things.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
I think it's so I.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Don't want to say one or the other because I
think it's somewhere in between. I don't. I think it's
way too early in the season to get excited about
their record right now. Yeah, because if you're watching the games,
which I'm sure you know most of unless you're a
Penguins fan, you're not watching most of these games from
start to finish. But there are a lot of them.

(31:11):
Even a lot of the wins have been very flawed.
I think the best game that they played was the
Rangers on the opening night. I do think that they
could have and probably should have beaten the the Ducks,
so they actually could have a better record than what
they have right now if they But like against Columbus,

(31:33):
you know, not impressed. Although they got a point out
of it, came back scored too Lake goals got a
point out of it. I think Jari looks good. I
can't criticize anything at the moment, I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
I don't, I don't know. I think there's so here's
here's the good thing. Here's where I want to be
positive about this because I don't know if they're going
to so statistically, I think percentage with teams who start
the season with the record that they had, I think
it goes back prior to their overtime loss to or
shootout lost at Columbus the other day. They like teams

(32:10):
that start whatever the hell the record was, make the
playoffs like over ninety percent of the time. And but
that being said, just like going back to what I
said about the Eastern Conference, I can see a lot
of teams going on winning streaks and a lot of
teams going on losing streaks.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
So I don't.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
I don't know whether or not THEY'RENNA make the playoffs.
I don't know. But I do like three things, and
it's three separate players. I like Anthony Manthus start, I
like Tristan Jarry Start, and I like Eric Carlson start.
And all three of those guys have potentially to be traded.
So if things, you know, go off the rails a
little bit and these guys continue to have, you know,
good seasons, I think they can get some quality payment

(32:51):
for all those guys. And I actually think if if
Jari does, if Jari does keep playing this, well, you
might have some fans saying, you know, argue about well,
now he's playing well, so we have our number one guy,
so let's use him. But Sergey Mushov and I bring
him up with pretty much every podcast is just and
again it's early in the AHL as well. Is just

(33:13):
absolutely dominating down there. I think he's he's five and zero.
I think he has a little a tickover one goals against,
he has a shutout and nine forty something as something ridiculous.
So his stats are are incredible, and that's that's your future.
He should be your future. And you still have the

(33:33):
yoel blomquest who's heard, so he's still there. So I
do think that he if he does have a quality season,
I do think that there's probably somebody who's going to
be looking for a goalie and if he's if Jari's
doing this, well, I actually think you know this still
they waived him, no one picks them up. They wave
him again, no one picks them up. And if they can,
if he can turn this this around and be actually

(33:56):
worth something in the trade market. That'd be incredible, and
it's not like Dubas hasn't tried to trade him. But
so to answer your question, trick or treat, I have
absolutely no idea. Well, they're playing playing pretty well, but
they are flawed and their defense is not good. So
I don't know how. I think Dan Muse's system is

(34:18):
working overly pretty well, but the way that they've been winning,
this type of the way that they've been winning is
not sustainable because they've been consistently outshot, out chanced often
so their power but their power play I think is
still number one in the league if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
And to your credit, you've said continuously that you you
think this team is not the worst in the league,
not Gavin McKenna, like that's what they're striving for. While
other people said that they thought this was the only
team that would tank.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
Yeah, they thought they were going to get that you know,
bottom three that you know, all of the pundits are
like bottom three in the league. Whatever. I actually don't
think they're going to be as bad because their roster
isn't that bad. I mean, their defense is not good,
but yeah, I don't know I actually I don't know.
I would like honestly, I would like to see playoffs.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
I would all right, swim.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Uh Pittsburgh was my bold prediction. So I'm taking treat
on them. Yeah, I think I think they're playing better
than people flought originally. So I want to say treat too.
Uh shwim Seattle kracking five to and two second place specific.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Trick or treat.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
It's so early, I have to go.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
That's hard.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
I mean, they've I've watched a couple of the games.
They don't look bad, they look pretty good, but like,
I still can't take them seriously. So I think this
is all, uh, this is all a trick. I think
they're gonna come back down to earth and kind of,
you know, look like what they did last year they're
playing if they keep playing like this, But I don't know,

(35:58):
I don't see them. I think there are gonna be
one of those teams that kind of, you know, all right,
they you know, come back down the earth and maybe
play five hundred hockey or or below that. I can't
I can't see them sustaining this all season long, especially
out West in that division.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
And I can see them like wildcard right like a
wildcard maybe ye, maybe competing for.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Yeah, but I don't think I can't see them being
second or you know, buying for first in the division.
There's no way.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Yeah. Yeah, Well but I'm gonna say trick Yeah. Nick
Schmaltz is not going to lead the league in scoring.
But here's a name that's in the top ten that
I want to get your opinion on. Dylan Larkin Trick
or treat thirteen points nine games, obviously research Detroit Red
Wings team. Trick or treat.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
As as far as gonna lead the league or the team, no.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
No, no, not lead league. But but do you see
this kind of offensive output where he's over a point
a game player, He's doing everything. Okay, so that's.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
A triple yeah. But I think he's he's a great player.
I think he's going to do well. I don't think
he's a point of game guy. He he's not. I
can't imagine. I can't envision him finishing top ten in scoring.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
That is what I'll say.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Okay, trick or treat Brandon points ten?

Speaker 4 (37:25):
Sorry him, I love him, I love terrible plus it's
my favorite. Uh.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Alexi Lagner also minus ten, Weiguer minus ten Branden Shen
minus ten the leader in the clubhouse Jared Spurgeon minus eleven. Yeah,
pretty good. All right, that's pretty much. Let's go one goaltender,
let's go trick or treat. But again another huh uh

(38:00):
uh of being right next to the fridge, the Malca
leading the league and wins trick treat. Oh boy, hm.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Hmm, that's a trick.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
That's true.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
He won't he won't leave the league and wins now,
and I.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Would doubt it too. Yeah, uh okay, uh. And then
here's one for the Devils fans. Jacob Marks from three
point eight nine goals against Trick or Treat.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
It won't stay there.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
They won't stay that. I mean, for Christ's sake, I
hope it'sn't stay high.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
Yeah, it won't say that. I mean, he's not gonna
win it. He's not gonna get I don't know that
he's gonna get VESNA votes, but he's not gonna have it.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
He's he's hurt right now, right right? Yeah? Yeah, okay,
I just I didn't know if he was hurt or
they were just rolling Jake Allen or something because he
play don't.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Know a couple Congrats Alex Vegien fifteen hundredth game. That's
pretty crazy, guys. It's just moose. You know.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
I can't stand though, speaking of Avechkin real quick, like
I keep getting I don't know if you guys are
like his dad God no, Like I'm no, no slight
to Ovechkin what he's achieved. But now I'm getting like
all of these alerts because it was always last season
it was like the chase to beat Gretzky, right, and
you're just like watch this, watch watch this game to

(39:29):
see if he beats Gretzky tonight, and you just like
got this Ken do this, blah blah blah. And now
I'm like, every time he plays nine hundred goal, yeah,
it's not even nine hundredth goal, it's like Keno beat
Ken beat Ovechkin and goals, and just like every time
it's like, is he going to score another goal? And
just like come come on already, Like it's just that's

(39:51):
not why we're going to be tuning in for a
whole season.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Yeah, now that's a little annoying. I agree with that one.
So obviously, fifteen games for a vegan, a thousand games
for Noasen Kadri, which I didn't realize he's been that long,
but he has pretty a long time. A thousand points

(40:18):
for Nikita Koutrov. Oh, surefire Hall of Famer. He is electric.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
The fourth fastest non North America get to that they
reach a thousand points. Jaggs and uh Kevin Ball had
a zero goal against the Rangers.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
That was really cool.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
You know who the league and assists by the way.
Uh no, that's a trick or treat eleven.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
Yeah, I mean he's he's a he's a scorer. I
don't think he'll be leading the league and the Cysts, but.

Speaker 4 (41:01):
Yeah, thirty nine years old. The only person to have
whatever his point I just saw the infographic. Uh, the
only player to have more points at this point in
the season at his age is Cordy How.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Really Wow?

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Yep, that's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (41:21):
Another assist tonight.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
Unfortunately, his line mate Ricardo kel will be out for
looks like two months. Raquela wasn't playing with the.

Speaker 4 (41:33):
No U and and uh Brezo Mantha and Malkin.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Oh, Mantha, that's a big line.

Speaker 4 (41:43):
Jeez, that's a big line. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
I like I got him on my fast team. Looking
pretty good right now?

Speaker 4 (41:50):
Yeah, he got another syst tonight. Yeah good, the lines,
the line's rolling, damn it? Yeah, what happens to You're right?

Speaker 2 (42:02):
I'm okay. Oh man, what a shwim.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
Graduation?

Speaker 4 (42:16):
I haven't Oh yeah, what did happen to happen?

Speaker 3 (42:19):
It is eight hundred point in the same night got
his thousands, so pretty good.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
It wasn't was that on the same was that on
the same goal?

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Now it was on a different one?

Speaker 2 (42:30):
That'd be pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
Yeah, I have a whole question.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
Everyone came out on the ice to congratulate him. That
was pretty cool to see.

Speaker 4 (42:38):
Have a trivia question for you guys. And the fact
that I'm saying it should give away who it might be,
not who it might be, but what organization it is.
I'll just go ahead and say which what player is
currently leading the a h L and points each? Get

(42:58):
one quick pick. Don't think too hard because you're not.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
Going to get it.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
What player leads the league in names?

Speaker 4 (43:05):
Unless you're cheating? Yeah, no, I'm not cheating. Who leads
the AHL in points?

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (43:12):
Well?

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Well overall team or the actual player?

Speaker 4 (43:16):
What player leads the league? The AHL?

Speaker 5 (43:23):
But Daniel Sprung mm hmm is he in the h L?
But I have no idea, all right, ok, Zach Jones,
I don't know who.

Speaker 4 (43:36):
I wish it was BC, Danton Heinen.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
Dan Hyen.

Speaker 4 (43:41):
He's allowed to play in the Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 3 (43:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (43:44):
I mean the every HL teams have that limits on their.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
You know it's five Yeah, I think it's five players
can only play like if you've played more than like
three hundred plus games professionally, there's like a limit and
making it more developmental.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Yeah, yes, which I yeah, I I agree with too.
And the one Pittsburgh as Pittsburgh has gotten themselves in
trouble with as far as the miners go, is they
have entirely too many vets down there, so they have
they have to scratch. They have to scratch two vets
every game. Wow, now at least, and they they might
have to do more because you have some guys in

(44:21):
Wilkesbury who are you know, out performing some of the
guys in Pittsburgh. So if they end up, like you know,
sending some of those guys down, then it's going to
be even more so. It's uh, it's that's one thing
I don't really I mean, I like that that that
Dubis has really kept a competitive minor League system. But
it also, you know, kind of sucks. It kind of

(44:43):
handcuffs them for a lot of things.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
Yeah, I know that the Harper Wolf fact suck balls.
So that's uh.

Speaker 4 (44:49):
Aren't they the worst team of the HL last year?

Speaker 2 (44:51):
Yeah, yeah, they're pretty bad. And we're doing we're just
doing fun stuff here in New York.

Speaker 4 (44:56):
You have gay peroles down there, a gay perro right
and Offman, Yes, two boys.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
Well, no, Pro's sorry. Afman is now up with the
big club. He is, well, thank god, uh sorry, Aman
is up with the big club. He was they're gonna
maybe they're using him as like a showcase. I don't
know who's happened, but Pro and I guess Bryce McConnell Barker,
like the two guys down there, and they have four points.
We just cannot score at all, which is lovely. I

(45:23):
think Jagger Fercus is doing awesome.

Speaker 4 (45:25):
I love that name too, Jagger Furcus.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Jagger Furcus. Yeah, he's doing really. I think he's got
like nine or eight or nine points.

Speaker 3 (45:34):
Wilkesbury's Wilkesbury seven and oh, Syracuse, Tampa?

Speaker 1 (45:40):
What is what is?

Speaker 2 (45:42):
What is the heart for Wolfpack?

Speaker 3 (45:44):
What's yours? Two and four? You're in seventh place.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
Yeah, they stank.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
Yeah, and freaking mershav Is is just completely dominating down there.
I think one game he led in three and I
don't think any other game he's led in more than one.
Maybe maybe winless.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
Texas and Utica are both winless.

Speaker 4 (46:06):
And devils, right, is it?

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (46:08):
The comments, I believe.

Speaker 2 (46:10):
In the comments. Yeah, those debs, they give and take it.
I actually don't have anything else, you guys, anything else
the Mitch Love thing, which I don't have you seen
anything on exactly why he got fired for the investigation.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
Domestic domestic violence. There's so I don't know that he
got did he actually get fired? Because I know that
he's and he suspended for the entirety of this year
while the investigation is is under review. And you know,
I'm actually you know, and I you know, when we
were doing our podcast in the off season, when we
were when these teams were hiring coaches, and I was like,

(46:47):
why the hell has Mitch Love not been hired? I know,
like I told you guys, like he was, yes, and
he was my number one, like I wanted him.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Yeah, your favorite? Right, Yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (46:58):
Obviously, Now, my my opinion has changed completely through this investigation.
But obviously if this if and uh, you know everybody
and I don't even want to get into I'm okay,
I'm gonna leave it at that. I'm going to get
into the whole card hard thing. No, But like, I'm
sure these these teams had to have had some sort

(47:21):
of knowledge about this was happening. That's the only way
I can I can figure that he wasn't hired because
the the in the when all of these coaches were
being hired and he was interviewing across the league and
no one was hiring him, like, they had to have
known something was pending, right, because you know.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
All teams or they heard a rumor about it and
they're like, oh, we can't possibly hire this guy in
case this ends up being real or you know, legitimate,
and we just hired this guy. Whops. You know it's
gonna be.

Speaker 4 (47:57):
Ah all a sudden, you know, your head, your head
coaches is gone.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Right, and then your team is screwed. So it was
worth it. The teams were going to take that risk
if they knew like ahead of time.

Speaker 4 (48:09):
So you know, we'll see the fact that Washington fired
him and he's suspended for the entirety of the season
leads me to believe that the evidence is damning.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
So if that's the case, you know, good riddance. I'm
sure you can find a home in the cage, oh.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
Or in the Ahl in a couple of years.

Speaker 4 (48:39):
Definitely well with Vegas. You know, when they get tired
of whoever the coaches now, Cassidy can always count on Vegas.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
Yep, always count I'm Vegas. I got nothing else. He
guys good, I'm good.

Speaker 4 (48:56):
My gin is delicious, by the way, highly recommend it.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (48:59):
This is, by the way, why I always get like
looked at weird when when I tell people I drink gin.
Everyone's big on like whiskey and bourbon and all that,
and everybody too. I think it's like it's it doesn't.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
Hurt so much. It's subtle. I mean we're old, we
drink light stuff. I mean, this hobby narrow is gonna but.

Speaker 4 (49:23):
Anymore literally gonna come out of your butt.

Speaker 3 (49:26):
Literally.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
Uh, that is.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
All my beer burn mills four. It is very good.
The peach in the front and then all of a sudden,
a little habit here on the on the back. Goods
give beer. I love it.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
I can't do it.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
Hendricks always gets Hendricks always gets five. All there, all
of theirs get five in my book, So.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Uh five, no number. You can't do it to your home.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
Uh oh well, I know this is the hockey show,
but I'm gonna talk a little football real quick. The
Denver Broncos ever since Homer Simpson took over that team
or eight and oh against the Dallas Cowboys un defeated.
That is a fact.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
Now this m Son why down out?

Speaker 2 (50:47):
Yeah yeah, di don.

Speaker 3 (50:52):
Down but.
