look at goaltenders that are kind of floundering right now? Uh,

six four to seven goals against Dustin Wolf for Calgary,

we are a week and a half into the NHL season,
and I don't know that I I don't think anything

surprised me so far. When you look at the standings.
Obviously we put Rocky like a hurricane because the Kinges
are the only undefeated team left in the NHL. Technically
color Avalanche or five, oh and the overtime loss, but
still it's a it's a loss. So they are five
and oh ten points their goals against that sorry, their

goal differentials pretty good at plus twelve Avalanche plus eleven,
and they've.

Done Avalanche let in six games. Five of those six
games they've led in one goal.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, crazy, And the other game was the yeah, it

so that's uh, they've only lent in ten six oh

goalie stet and wins. He just leads in the wins.

Skin has a one goals against average. He's the leader
in the clubhouse and that is the high STAB percentage
at nine to sixty two, the number of goalie in
terms of wins. Wedgewood has five wins. He's one point
four goals against average. Three he's number yeah, number three
in goals against the number four and stay percentage.

know who has allowed the most goals in the ANHL
to date? Yes, okay, it's they've allowed thirty goals in
six games, five goals per game, win eight or nine
to Buffalo, right that one game? Yep? Yeah. The worst

plus or plus minus the worst goal differential is Calgary Flames.
They are one and five a minus fourteen. They've allowed
twenty five goals only scored eleven. So there's some teams.
You know, Calgary was expected to kind of make a
push for a, you know, right around a playoff spot.
They have not been good so far. The LA Kings
are also kind of down in the dumps one, three

and two. But we didn't like their offseason moves and
kind of spelled that they weren't going to be doing
so well early Minnesota obviously the big spending spree on
their two major players, and they're two and three and one.
The Jets are doing well four and one, Mammoth or
Forn four and two, kracking Er three to zero and two. Yeah,

I think Atlantic is Pitts Pragmans are foreign two Rangers
three three and one. Devil's four and one. We just
saw them beat Edmonton, who did not look good in
the next second game.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
We could talk about them last three or four games.
They played all the local teams and they lost all
of them, didn't they.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yeah, it was hard to tell whether whether that win Saturday.
I mean, the Devil's played. The Devil's played well, but
Edmonton looked I don't know, And I was even commenting like, yeah,
they look terrible. And I was even commenting not so
much not their defense because I still don't have much
confidence in their defense. But I feel like this roster

has the best forward depth that they've had in years,
and they're still no one's doing anything. Like when you
look at the names and like what they've done in
the past, you're like, wow, Okay, you know these guys
are legit. I mean they're legit, you know, bottom you know,
the bottom six guys that can pop goals and you know,

give you a lot of energy and everything. And I
saw literally nothing of that between Bazaarre and Roslovic. Nothing,
I saw nothing out of them.

Yeah, agreed, Yeah, Rosvik on the third line, like that first.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Line, Kapin is another highly talented you know he tends
to disappear all the day time, but another highly skilled
but playing bottom six minths. So you got high school
guys down there in the bottom six and they're still
doing nothing.

kill the devils. We're not yet. But we were there.
You saw it in person, I mean the game, and
we were we did. We were at that game and
obviously you know the play. Just you go think you

guys couldn't agree with me. I just was not impressed
by either team at the moment. Obviously the flood gates opened.

I think they played the Devil's had a great third
period otherwise there again, I mean that first period was
dread The start of the first period was dreadful, where
they didn't have a shot for the first like twelve,
fourteen minutes whatever it was. And then I think that
they repeated that again in the second period where they
didn't have a shot on goal for like the first
ten minutes or something like that. But yeah, that third day,

they played well in the third period and Connor Brown
had the shorthanded goal, Connor Brown shorty.

Obviously, Jack Hughes had the two You had Brat with
the backhander on the face off on the power play,
which I pickcard was awful on that one. And then
did you see the next game with Start Skinner where
he just allowed two of the worst fucking goals that guy.
I just that's why, that's why the Connor McDavid extension

is so dumb. You got to put it the screws
on the organization and not sign until the off season
because it it puts the pressure on them to make
a move that they wouldn't make because now they're like,
all right, we got Connor for another three years, Like
I just if I'm in, if I'm him in the
in that spot, you got to really put it to him.

And and I think by you not signing, it scares
the crap out of the organization. And if you're like hey,
we don't have a goaltender. It forces them to make
a move, Brook, Amanda. I mean, Steve said he wasn't
impressed to you could at least get well.

I was talking about specific points of the game and
in the third period they look good, but those.

I was saying the same thing. Wasn't impressed in the
first two periods. Second period, talk about didn't look good.

For most and Edmonton was out shooting them and in
those like in those brief instances in the first period
in the second period, but none of those chances were good,
Like they didn't have any like high quality chances, just
like throwing shots on net. H Jake Allen played played
pretty well. I don't think he was really challenged much,
but I think he played pretty well. It's just it

was weird because you know, and that's my first time
seeing McDavid and Dryside alive. And there are moments where
I was like, oh, yeah, those two are on the
team because I didn't even notice them out there.

past weekend. Joel Kenneville made his return to Chicago, this

anyone that's kind of turned it on that you were
not expecting to do so well? Obviously talked about Wedgwood
he's taking over for.

Yeah, that's more of a situational thing, I guess for
Wedgwood's case, But any goalie, I mean, well, Jari played well.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah, Jar has played well. Talbot's also played pretty well
for for Detroit. That's kind of leading them out to
that five on one record. Spencer Knights played pretty well.
We like Carl Carlo Vimelka. He's also been done, you know,
doing pretty well in four games with with Utah. But
how about on the bad side of things when you
look at goaltenders that are kind of floundering right now? Uh,
(19:05):
first one for me is you also have a scar
of you know, he's played two games but you know
six four to seven goals against Dustin Wolf for Calgary,
four point three goals against a fifty four save and
he has not looked very well. Soroken another one just
following another bad year with a start of a bad

one here Jacob Markstrom. Yeah, but Markstrom with the Devil's
almost a four. And then the guy that I was,
you know, he's actually done a little bit better the
last two games. It's two of them that have done
a little better last against But John Gibson, you know,
he little that was at seventh spot to be in
the season and has not done you know, well the

short up and Lenus Olmark four goals against in the
forty eight save.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Yeah, you know it's I The one I'm worried about
is askar Off because you know, San Jose invested a
lot into him being the goalie of the future and
he hasn't. Well, He's done very well on the HL.
He's done very much the opposite in all the NHL
games that he's played for them, including last season in

this season. So he's still young, so you know, it's
but I mean now they're kind of ready to give
him the reins to the number one. But yeah, I
don't know they I guess they they you know, they
brought in Nadelkovich for a reason to kind of Nadalkovich
played very well against against the Penguins the other night.

You know, I'm I'm slightly worried about. I was hoping
Askaroff would turn out to be something really good, especially
for San Jose because they have such a good young
team with good young players, and he would be like,
you know, they're you build around a goalie, you have
your Maclin Celebrini or Will Smith and you think you
get at him, but he looks shaky at best.

The team is also not great, like the time to grow.

So they're last in the league and face off percentage,
they're twenty ninth or thirtieth in the league in shots
on goal. They have no shots and they're not shooting,
which I always okay, they're not getting shots and they're

not shooting. Yeah, shot out of here. Yeah, the last
couple of games. In the beginning, the goaltending nothing look good.
The goaltending look good. Everything didn't look good. The last
couple of games, the goaltending is improved, but then everything
else in front of them looks very shaky. The last

two games they had was two for the through the
first two periods. They had eleven shots and nine shots
through two periods. The one game against Detroit, they came
out blazing in the third period, were able to tie
the game, and they had like twenty something shots. They
got a point at that game. They tried doing that
again against Columbus uh and didn't score a goal, let

up a goal, and lost that game. So they yeah,
right in the beginning of the third period, I think,
and they couldn't do anything else. They didn't have Kutrov
for those last two games. He's sick apparently.

But this team is They just don't. I've been watching.
They look completely like out of sync. All their top
players aren't like. Kutrov doesn't look that great, Point doesn't
look that great. Gensel looks good, but it would be better.
Hagel doesn't look that great. Headman doesn't look good. The
goaltending looks good, Vassily looks fine, and even Johanson has

played well. He's played two games and he looks fine.
It's everybody else is like completely out of sync.

Yeah, that that could be like a whole like Canada itself,
could be an entire podcast discussion because of oh, we're
gonna do volume of talent that they have. And also
it's like if you want to get younger, like there's
younger there's young kids that you can absolutely include, but
then you're going to be taking off some vets who
you absolutely should include. So it's do you do you?

So just quickly they're there Locks, right, Crosby, McKinnon, McDavid, Point, uh, Sam,
uh Sam Ryan Hart and I'm missing somebody big? Why

invited to stupid Uh oh Mitch Martin, Right, those are
the six like Locks, And when you look at those guys,
three or four of them can easily play on the
p K. So do you really need your third and
fourth line to be guys that are matching? Like you

need a defensive stalwart there? Like when you look at
that Ford roster and what those guys can do, Like
all six of those guys I named all play p K,
So like, do you really think that that's necessary.

That well, yeah, I mean you see McDavid plays the
p K. I think Reinhardt right plays the PK. But

But it's just like it is. It is something to
discuss because it's you're gonna get the I think specifically

you're gonna get it with Canada and US. I think
the other countries basically have a general idea as to
how they're going to make make their roster, and then
you have the US and the US who and the
four nations decided to add some guys because they're just like,
you know, high energy, penalty killing whatever. But if you
have the opportunity, if you have some guys who can

play the penalty kill, but you have four lines that
can score, all four lines can score, or do you
want to include some agitators? Do you want to include
some guys that are just physical? Like I don't, I don't,
I don't know. I don't mean it's it's it's a
weird way to do it. But I feel like anytime
you try to make some sort of point of being
more physical or being more defensive with your decisions for

these international teams, it ends up biting in the ass
because it's just like, well, you could have had you
needed some more goals here or or a little bit
more skill here, and instead you have these guys who
don't offer any of that. So I don't know. It's
gonna be interesting to see how they how they make it.
And I don't know if Sullivan has well, I don't

obviously in the whole Hockey Canada scandal, and while acquitted,

you know, we're obviously not big fans, and of course
the NHL GM's being who they are, Old Men's Club
and all this other stuff. They want to bring in
a goaltender because obviously equal tenders are the hardest thing
to find. Then, while he does have talent, he was
involved in this and it's you know, Vegas is a
team that could bring him in and kind of hide them.

You know, media markets not huge, so you know, the
fan blowback might not be as bad for them, but
they bring a card to hert and I don't like.

It, but I mean, I freaking hate it. I'm not
even gonna try to try to hide that opinion of mine,
but I freaking hate it. And you know, there's organizations,
too many organizations that just do not care about character

and as you're doing it, you need to make a
public statement yeah, before doing it as to why. That

Also to that the fact that your players are the
ones that have to answer for it, and that you're
not in front of the media taking questions and the

I think it's just going to be brushed off and
he's just going to be put on the team. He's
gonna play, and then that's gonna be the end of it.
And no one's gonna say a single, a damn thing
about it, because, like you said, this is the old
boys club, right, and it's just this is what's acceptable.

So yeah, if it helps them win a hockey game,
they couldn't give a who what anybody thinks.

feel like the other leagues do a better job at
some time quote unquote reprimanding, reprimanding people right like NFL players,
they suspend them right away. Obviously, the whole thing with
you know, with the quarterback Deshaun Watson, they suspend them

right away and then they wait. Like the NHL, I
know that they put them on hiatus, but like what,
they give them up five months of you can't play
hockey and then in December you're going to come back
and play. So like whatever, It's just a shitty to
talk about because obviously, you know, the judge said, we're
not gonna getting this because.

Yeah, because the case, the case is what it is,
and I understand that the league is kind of you know,
they got their hands tied at least a little bit
because you let it go through litigation and you wait
to see what the result is. And then I mean
we all saw what happened through it and the fact
that like you know, this wasn't even they didn't even
get a jury. It was literally one judge made the

decision on all of this, and it was I mean, again,
I don't want to go into the detailer, but I
understand that the league could be, you know, their hands
could be kind of tied because They're like, Okay, we
suspended them throughout the legal protests, It went through the
legal process, it had a finality at you know, whatever
the hell it was, and it's just like, well, I mean,

what else can we say. It went to court and
this is the result. So now we just kind of
have to let it be what it is, which is horrible.
But you know, I'm not trying to come to the
league's defense because you know, I have major complaints about
all But I guess I get it. I guess I

guess I don't know if there if there's no you know,
repercussions legally for this, then what can they do? I mean,
