Speaker 3 (02:45):
I don't know what that means?
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Want to know.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Dry gin handcrafted in British Britain, England. It appears somewhat
eccentric to claim that the recipe of gin has the
power to unite Great Britain traditions the spices of India.
The rich landscape of the black forest. Blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
I don't know, I don't know. It's distilled from forty
seven predominantly unusual botanicals such as Lnoennberry's and blended with
natural spring water. Cheers.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
You know, seeing something that's not really well known. I
hear linenberry as a as like a prime staple for
like alcohol. Quite often it must be something where like
from me. It's easy.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Also Lingoberry pancakes when everybody gets everybody gets Lingoenberry pancakes.
And the big Lebowski.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Oh, I've never had one.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
These men are nihilists, Donnie. These men are cowards.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Donnie.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
You're out of your element. Sandola, all right, somebody else.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
I don't have a beer, so I'm drinking the next
best thing.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
WI tea. Oh, inc cola, Okay, inc cola. I'll allow
it from the Golden Mountains of Peru.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yep, the golden cola. And it turns your you'rein bright green.
It's awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Oh no, wait, that's something else that's always a good
you know.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
That's minute Tauru.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Courtesy of the Foreign Land of Cuba. I have a
Servesa Crystal extra a intex Gubana. Yeah, thank you, Alicia.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Five.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
I'm going through my odd beer section trying to clear
that out because there are still a few more that
I have to get rid of.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Wow, I guess that was that the extra that was
in there. Now it's all over you.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I'm really interested to know if somebody's just shake it.
That sound that came out of you, Well.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
It's just bubbled up and spilling. I was gonna spill
all over my I have literally have a laptop. The
laptops are here, but then I have a iPad and
my phone. It was a spill all over my stuff.
So I had to quickly quickly slurp.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Well, you have cat like reflexes. Mm hmmm, speaking of
catlike men busy messing everything up already?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Also, not good? Is not good?
Speaker 4 (05:34):
All right? That's a black forest if I've ever seen one, now, Stephen, Yes,
it is black forest.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
That guy is awesome where you just see the eyes
and yep, looks like he's gonna murder your soul. All right,
let's go what's on tap Forday's episode? Here's our weekly snapshot. Uh,
we are a week and a half into the NHL season,
and I don't know that I I don't think anything
(06:04):
surprised me so far. When you look at the standings.
Obviously we put Rocky like a hurricane because the Kinges
are the only undefeated team left in the NHL. Technically
color Avalanche or five, oh and the overtime loss, but
still it's a it's a loss. So they are five
and oh ten points their goals against that sorry, their
(06:27):
goal differentials pretty good at plus twelve Avalanche plus eleven,
and they've.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Done Avalanche let in six games. Five of those six
games they've led in one goal.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, crazy, And the other game was the yeah, it
was the.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I think they let in three four, six, it.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Was it was because it was five. They've led an eleven,
so that's uh, they've only lent in ten six oh
sorry ten, So they've led in five goals in that
one game.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Uh so yeah, both those two teams coming out of
hot and doing rather well.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
You have Scott leave the league, and like every stat,
goalie stat at this point, I'm assuming.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Uh, Wedgewood does lead the lea No, not in every
goalie stet and wins. He just leads in the wins.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Really, I mean he's on one goals.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Skin has a one goals against average. He's the leader
in the clubhouse and that is the high STAB percentage
at nine to sixty two, the number of goalie in
terms of wins. Wedgewood has five wins. He's one point
four goals against average. Three he's number yeah, number three
in goals against the number four and stay percentage.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Because lost like three one nothing games, right or something
whatever the hell.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yes, he's been ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, yeah, well the one the one was three nothing,
but two of them were empty nets. So it's so
two two one nothings and one three nothing. Correct, yep, correct, Well,
I mean he's been nothing.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
He's been awesome. I didn't of course put him as
as in a trophy guy, but yeah, so he has
he's had. He's allowed one goal, zero goals, one goal,
one goal and two goals in five games, and his
sabercentage is of nine to sixty two. He's yeah, he's
doing awesome and he's playing right now. In the first
period against the Minnesota Wild, he's allowed one goal and
(08:21):
on sixteen shots.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
So you know, once again, twenty two shots now it's
twenty two. Yeah, shots are twenty two to nine.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Yeah, that's the Rangers. Yeah, anything surprised you, any team's
surprised you.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
I don't think that, Jesus sim I don't think there's
been has been enough time. Well, I mean I can.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
I think surprises might be in the Atlantic, right Detroit
the top five and one? Yeah, yeah, as will say,
at top and bottom five to one, Detroit one three
and two. Your Tampa Bay Lightning. Mm hmmm, a minus
five differential. They've allowed twenty one goals. Do you guys
(09:08):
know who has allowed the most goals in the ANHL
to date? Yes, okay, it's they've allowed thirty goals in
six games, five goals per game, win eight or nine
to Buffalo, right that one game? Yep? Yeah. The worst
(09:29):
plus or plus minus the worst goal differential is Calgary Flames.
They are one and five a minus fourteen. They've allowed
twenty five goals only scored eleven. So there's some teams.
You know, Calgary was expected to kind of make a
push for a, you know, right around a playoff spot.
They have not been good so far. The LA Kings
are also kind of down in the dumps one, three
(09:51):
and two. But we didn't like their offseason moves and
kind of spelled that they weren't going to be doing
so well early Minnesota obviously the big spending spree on
their two major players, and they're two and three and one.
The Jets are doing well four and one, Mammoth or
Forn four and two, kracking Er three to zero and two. Yeah,
(10:14):
I think Atlantic is Pitts Pragmans are foreign two Rangers
three three and one. Devil's four and one. We just
saw them beat Edmonton, who did not look good in
the next second game.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
We could talk about them last three or four games.
They played all the local teams and they lost all
of them, didn't they.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yeah, it was hard to tell whether whether that win Saturday.
I mean, the Devil's played. The Devil's played well, but
Edmonton looked I don't know, And I was even commenting like, yeah,
they look terrible. And I was even commenting not so
much not their defense because I still don't have much
confidence in their defense. But I feel like this roster
(10:53):
has the best forward depth that they've had in years,
and they're still no one's doing anything. Like when you
look at the names and like what they've done in
the past, you're like, wow, Okay, you know these guys
are legit. I mean they're legit, you know, bottom you know,
the bottom six guys that can pop goals and you know,
(11:13):
give you a lot of energy and everything. And I
saw literally nothing of that between Bazaarre and Roslovic. Nothing,
I saw nothing out of them.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Yeah, agreed, Yeah, Rosvik on the third line, like that first.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Line, Kapin is another highly talented you know he tends
to disappear all the day time, but another highly skilled
but playing bottom six minths. So you got high school
guys down there in the bottom six and they're still
doing nothing.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Hey Ray, no shorts guy, and you're all ready to
kill the devils. We're not yet. But we were there.
You saw it in person, I mean the game, and
we were we did. We were at that game and
obviously you know the play. Just you go think you
(12:07):
guys couldn't agree with me. I just was not impressed
by either team at the moment. Obviously the flood gates opened.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
I think they played the Devil's had a great third
period otherwise there again, I mean that first period was
dread The start of the first period was dreadful, where
they didn't have a shot for the first like twelve,
fourteen minutes whatever it was. And then I think that
they repeated that again in the second period where they
didn't have a shot on goal for like the first
ten minutes or something like that. But yeah, that third day,
(12:33):
they played well in the third period and Connor Brown
had the shorthanded goal, Connor Brown shorty.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Obviously, Jack Hughes had the two You had Brat with
the backhander on the face off on the power play,
which I pickcard was awful on that one. And then
did you see the next game with Start Skinner where
he just allowed two of the worst fucking goals that guy.
I just that's why, that's why the Connor McDavid extension
(13:06):
is so dumb. You got to put it the screws
on the organization and not sign until the off season
because it it puts the pressure on them to make
a move that they wouldn't make because now they're like,
all right, we got Connor for another three years, Like
I just if I'm in, if I'm him in the
in that spot, you got to really put it to him.
(13:29):
And and I think by you not signing, it scares
the crap out of the organization. And if you're like hey,
we don't have a goaltender. It forces them to make
a move, Brook, Amanda. I mean, Steve said he wasn't
impressed to you could at least get well.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
I was talking about specific points of the game and
in the third period they look good, but those.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I was saying the same thing. Wasn't impressed in the
first two periods. Second period, talk about didn't look good.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
For most and Edmonton was out shooting them and in
those like in those brief instances in the first period
in the second period, but none of those chances were good,
Like they didn't have any like high quality chances, just
like throwing shots on net. H Jake Allen played played
pretty well. I don't think he was really challenged much,
but I think he played pretty well. It's just it
(14:19):
was weird because you know, and that's my first time
seeing McDavid and Dryside alive. And there are moments where
I was like, oh, yeah, those two are on the
team because I didn't even notice them out there.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Uh. I like you to Brooke, so you know, we
could talk about obviously they get you know, Devil's go
off a good start. Uh. Some interesting things happened this
past weekend. Joel Kenneville made his return to Chicago, this
time obviously the head coach Dan Hunt Ducks, and of
course those sad fans gave him, gave him a cheer
(14:56):
and listen, obviously he won cups with them, but you're
still a piece of crap.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
So you know there were some you know, splattering of booze,
but not enough for my liking. Uh Brad Marshan, you
guys probably saw it versus uh lovely buffalo Sabers rasns, Yeah, Rasmus,
(15:21):
you know, Dolly and gives him a check and they
were going at it for before that. That's not the
start of it, but they were, you know, going at
He gives him a check and then he goes to
kind of check him again and he falls over and
Marshan jumps on him, and a little scrum starts, and
then Marcian takes his helmet, brings into the penalty box,
starts ripping out the straps from his helmet. You got
a five thousand dollars fine, But like if is that
(15:42):
not one of the times when you want to suspend
somebody to be like, listen, a little over the top,
like ruming someone's equipment, like what. I don't know. I
was the only person who was like that seems a
little bit overboard.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
People do violent checks to the head and getting somebody's helmet.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
I yeah, I don't know about a suspension, but it's
they probably have not think I think there should it
should have been he should have gotten like another un
sportsman like.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
I think on top of yeah, right, another ten misconduct
or something. What did you get? He just got a
five and a ten man. I should have know. They
just had the fight fighting major, and I think it
was it.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
They should have gave Buffalo Leo like an unsportsman like
and gave them the power player or something.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Yeah, yeah, because I mean you can like knock somebody's
like four minutes stick away from them. It's a penalty, yeah,
taking his whole helmet away.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Maybe we're just was it Saturday, critical, Yes, it was Saturday, Yeah, Saturday. Yeah,
marshand had a total of just four penalty minutes, so
they must have got to didn't get a fighter You
didn't even get a fighting major, none of them did.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
He's like punching the guy with his gloves on, but
he's down on the ice.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Darlene actually didn't get a penalty at all. I didn't
get any Pendlan minutes for that.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Well they only called these uh retaliation, I guess.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah. But Marcia now returns home to Boston today. Where
are we the scores in that one?
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Said Jesus Louise.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
He's like frozen down in a fiddle rage.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
He's not not very conspicuous in his exit.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, what a swim guys, if you haven't noticed, this
is this is where shwim is. Uh he is this
kind of person. No, but uh so obviously this week
baby duty, it isn't very important. But Panthers visit the
Bruins on Tuesday, Marshan comes back to his old stomping grounds.
Uh can we be pretty decent matchup Bruins and and
(17:55):
Panthers both three and four? Uh, two and one at
home for the Bruins, so see how they do. There's
an oz and four away from sunrise, so they need
to get back on track on the away games.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
All games not really great anywhere.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Uh Steven. Any goalies surprising you in this young season,
anyone that's kind of turned it on that you were
not expecting to do so well? Obviously talked about Wedgwood
he's taking over for.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Yeah, that's more of a situational thing, I guess for
Wedgwood's case, But any goalie, I mean, well, Jari played well.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah, Jar has played well. Talbot's also played pretty well
for for Detroit. That's kind of leading them out to
that five on one record. Spencer Knights played pretty well.
We like Carl Carlo Vimelka. He's also been done, you know,
doing pretty well in four games with with Utah. But
how about on the bad side of things when you
look at goaltenders that are kind of floundering right now? Uh,
(19:05):
first one for me is you also have a scar
of you know, he's played two games but you know
six four to seven goals against Dustin Wolf for Calgary,
four point three goals against a fifty four save and
he has not looked very well. Soroken another one just
following another bad year with a start of a bad
(19:27):
one here Jacob Markstrom. Yeah, but Markstrom with the Devil's
almost a four. And then the guy that I was,
you know, he's actually done a little bit better the
last two games. It's two of them that have done
a little better last against But John Gibson, you know,
he little that was at seventh spot to be in
the season and has not done you know, well the
(19:52):
short up and Lenus Olmark four goals against in the
forty eight save.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Yeah, you know it's I The one I'm worried about
is askar Off because you know, San Jose invested a
lot into him being the goalie of the future and
he hasn't. Well, He's done very well on the HL.
He's done very much the opposite in all the NHL
games that he's played for them, including last season in
(20:20):
this season. So he's still young, so you know, it's
but I mean now they're kind of ready to give
him the reins to the number one. But yeah, I
don't know they I guess they they you know, they
brought in Nadelkovich for a reason to kind of Nadalkovich
played very well against against the Penguins the other night.
(20:43):
You know, I'm I'm slightly worried about. I was hoping
Askaroff would turn out to be something really good, especially
for San Jose because they have such a good young
team with good young players, and he would be like,
you know, they're you build around a goalie, you have
your Maclin Celebrini or Will Smith and you think you
get at him, but he looks shaky at best.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
The team is also not great, like the time to grow.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
We've been requested to see where where is Melvin?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
You ask, well, there is all right, we'll get the
Swims team because you know he's the one that planes
and moans on text about it TM. Why don't you
give us the bad and then my voices of reason
(21:33):
will be the voices of reason and tell you that
you're a dumb schmuck.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Do you think my team is good? Is that that's
what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
I think that you are a boy who crawed wolf
and your team is good? Still? What not? Right now?
Speaker 4 (21:51):
They're not?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Okay? Five games? Six games? Six games? Yeah, and they
have not what's the negative? Me? Why why are you
so upset? Every five seconds?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
There's lots of negatives. Let's see. I'll start with yeah, okay,
So they're last in the league and face off percentage,
they're twenty ninth or thirtieth in the league in shots
on goal. They have no shots and they're not shooting,
which I always okay, they're not getting shots and they're
(22:22):
not shooting. Yeah, shot out of here. Yeah, the last
couple of games. In the beginning, the goaltending nothing look good.
The goaltending look good. Everything didn't look good. The last
couple of games, the goaltending is improved, but then everything
else in front of them looks very shaky. The last
(22:44):
two games they had was two for the through the
first two periods. They had eleven shots and nine shots
through two periods. The one game against Detroit, they came
out blazing in the third period, were able to tie
the game, and they had like twenty something shots. They
got a point at that game. They tried doing that
again against Columbus uh and didn't score a goal, let
(23:05):
up a goal, and lost that game. So they yeah,
right in the beginning of the third period, I think,
and they couldn't do anything else. They didn't have Kutrov
for those last two games. He's sick apparently.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
But this team is They just don't. I've been watching.
They look completely like out of sync. All their top
players aren't like. Kutrov doesn't look that great, Point doesn't
look that great. Gensel looks good, but it would be better.
Hagel doesn't look that great. Headman doesn't look good. The
goaltending looks good, Vassily looks fine, and even Johanson has
(23:39):
played well. He's played two games and he looks fine.
It's everybody else is like completely out of sync.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
So I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
They're coming back home now. They're playing Chicago on Thursday
at home. Uh. They just had a four game road
trip and it was two back to backs. Their wrote
their four game road trip was two back back to backs,
which is ye a little weird. But see I come
back home, I think for the next three or four
So I don't know. They got to start, I think
getting something together. I'm not going to push the panic
(24:07):
button yet, but I'm still very annoyed at the way you.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Pushing, Like.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
I'm gonna if they keep losing, I'm gonna smash the
ship out of that button.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Hey, how about another surprise for the season. Who's leading
the league in goals right now?
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Oh? Yeah, that would be who Shuim?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Who is it? Shane Pin and Sea?
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Get the hell out of here?
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Really damn?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yep?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Seven goals?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Seven My boy McKinnon, who I have read appears my
goals coming in second six.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Oh he has six goals?
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Oh he's got nothing.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
David has no goals.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
He has no goals. No, no goals. Wow, an Ikael
is a man on fire. To fifteen points, him and
Stone leading the league fifteen. Stone was doing that good.
I knew I was doing really good. Stone was doing
that well too, But uh, is he hurt? I didn't
see who's hurt? I thought.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
I thought I thought he was like week to week
or something again, week to week with risk injury. Yep,
just up three hours ago, leaves of the parent risks injury.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Well, yeah, that mother can't stay healthy. Yeah, he's good.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
That's that's uh. And this will probably hurt his chance.
If he had kept going like this, he probably would
have made Team Canada. As you know, a player of note,
this could hurt his chances to make. You know, they
want to get younger, they want to get guys that
aren't you know, these injury risk players. And we're going
to talk about this little more as the Olympics come up.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Yeah, that that could be like a whole like Canada itself,
could be an entire podcast discussion because of oh, we're
gonna do volume of talent that they have. And also
it's like if you want to get younger, like there's
younger there's young kids that you can absolutely include, but
then you're going to be taking off some vets who
you absolutely should include. So it's do you do you?
Speaker 2 (26:06):
So just quickly they're there Locks, right, Crosby, McKinnon, McDavid, Point, uh, Sam,
uh Sam Ryan Hart and I'm missing somebody big? Why
am I missing somebody big? Sam? Ryan Hart? And Uh?
(26:27):
I just just was looking at the rosters that they
invited to stupid Uh oh Mitch Martin, Right, those are
the six like Locks, And when you look at those guys,
three or four of them can easily play on the
p K. So do you really need your third and
fourth line to be guys that are matching? Like you
(26:49):
need a defensive stalwart there? Like when you look at
that Ford roster and what those guys can do, Like
all six of those guys I named all play p K,
So like, do you really think that that's necessary.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
That you get a guy thing?
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Point doesn't really only very very well.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
That well, yeah, I mean you see McDavid plays the
p K. I think Reinhardt right plays the PK. But
you know Marshan might be there also, who knows McKinnon.
But it's just like it is. It is something to
discuss because it's you're gonna get the I think specifically
(27:24):
you're gonna get it with Canada and US. I think
the other countries basically have a general idea as to
how they're going to make make their roster, and then
you have the US and the US who and the
four nations decided to add some guys because they're just like,
you know, high energy, penalty killing whatever. But if you
have the opportunity, if you have some guys who can
(27:46):
play the penalty kill, but you have four lines that
can score, all four lines can score, or do you
want to include some agitators? Do you want to include
some guys that are just physical? Like I don't, I don't,
I don't know. I don't mean it's it's it's a
weird way to do it. But I feel like anytime
you try to make some sort of point of being
more physical or being more defensive with your decisions for
(28:06):
these international teams, it ends up biting in the ass
because it's just like, well, you could have had you
needed some more goals here or or a little bit
more skill here, and instead you have these guys who
don't offer any of that. So I don't know. It's
gonna be interesting to see how they how they make it.
And I don't know if Sullivan has well, I don't
(28:27):
know how much control he has over the makeup of
the roster of the coaches.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
I'd say he has a decent.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Well that's the problem. I think you're going to You're
gonna see You're going to see a lot of what
we just saw in the Four Nations, which I'm not
thrilled about that. I don't think.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
I think I don't some of the younger guys in there.
But remember Olympics plays, I HF. So you're not going
to have a Tom Wilson gooning it up. He wasn't
in there anyway, But you won't have dunes and seeing
the fights, right.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Well, the thing the thing with the US is that
your goons are your best players in the KA Chuck Brothers, right, Chucks,
you got your guns there, and then you know McAvoy
also kind of goonish. Yeah, he'll be there for sure.
Us just kind of us just kind of naturally has
it with their skill. Guys are also you know, bring
this samdpaper. So then it ends up being like, all right,
(29:22):
what is Canada. Does Kinda want to match it or
does Kindada just want to like outscore out skill them
completely and just ignore that, you know, background noise that
those players bring, I think is not going to change
the thing.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
They're gonna do the same thing. And I'm worried about
our our forwards actually because the freaking Kentuck brom can't
stay healthy, especially.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
One of them. Yeah, well I'm worried people.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
I know, who's how's he gonna he could be hurtle
over again. Some good will play a game and that'll
be it again. He'll be sitting on the bench.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Yeah, they go hard, you know, so especially when international play.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
I know you're go that it's jacked up for that one. Yeah.
There's reports that if if Ka Chuck needed to and
if it was like playoffs were in need dire need,
he could be playing in December. So it might be
one of those where Florida obviously just wants him for
the playoffs because they you know, we're not a shoe in.
But it's pretty assured that they're going to be in
(30:19):
the playoffs, right, So.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
It should yes, but at this rate should should who knows.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
But I mean, you know, maybe maybe Canada just has
a Sam Bennett there just in case for a little agitation.
But really they're not going to bring to Tom Wilson here.
It's no point bring the skill.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Games can Also, the roster is also larger, right, so
they can bring more players for the Olympics than they
could the Four Nations. So you'll you'll, yeah, there's some
of those guys, so you might see very simple like
Chris Crider obviously shouldn't be there at all.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
He won't be there. He won't who I think the
guys you'll probably see, well, it was him. It was
what's his name from Colorado? Uh Islander? Former islander? Uh
Nelson Nelson. Yeah, but I think this time around, Yeah,
you're gonna see J. T. Miller still there because I
(31:11):
think Sullivan's there. He could use them in different situations.
He's a center, especially a center that wins draws. Will
probably be Thompson and Keller. I want, I want, I
want Tage Thompson, I want Clayton Keller.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Kyle Connor needs to be playing. Yes, be scratched. Ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
It is so crazy how he is continually left is
like the extra forward. The guys do.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Well in the last five years.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
From Matthews in the league as the league leader. How
does that guy not there?
Speaker 4 (31:46):
He's got a like a draft but the kick can score,
all right?
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Put him on the damn Matthews. Matthews, Gonsel, Boldie, Chele
and Theoks are your top six. But Kyle Connor is
someone that should be right there. He and he should
put him in them.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Yeah, he should be a take.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
The kid's a sniper. Put him up there. Yeah. Put
him with all these skilled players.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
He should be He should be above He should be
above Boldie, he should be above Brady Kuchuck. He's a
Brady Kschuck in the in the middle six. I think
Grady k Chuck.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
I absolutely agree with Stephen. I think I think if
you want to do it, you put Kyle Connor with
icel And and Matthew Kachuck, and you put Brady ku
Chuck on the third line with like J. T. Miller
and J. Thompson and just wreckon House.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Yeah, I agree with that. I actually I don't think
Brady's that good, to be completely honest with you. I
think he's a very effective player and he has good
in his role, but we put him on the same
pedestal as Matthew, and they are not in the same
not close at all. Matthew is infinitely more skilled than
Brady is. I think Brady's probably more thick headed, maybe
(32:54):
a little more durable, but.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Matt Matthews is his right logan. Cooley is also there.
I want him to you know, troe check. They put
troe check is like an option for an extra, and
I know you want a fourth or fifth center.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
So I think he there. I don't know if he
makes the roster every night, but he should be there.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
You think as an extra, you would put troe check.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Maybe it depends on what the rest of the lineup
looks like, but I think he should. Just don't know
where I'm putting him yet.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Yeah, how about Matthew Nis, He's a He's a maybe maybe, Yeah,
you would put I definitely put Cooley over Knives. And
they have Nis as like the fourth or fifth right wingers,
So I do like it.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
And you know what I would also, I would I
would consider Brian rust And I know I'm being I'm
biased here, but like I think he is, he does
over them anywhere.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
First line or fourth line.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
I agree, he's got the speed, he's got the energy,
he's got the finishing touch, he can kill penalties, so
i'm he I think he should. I don't know if
he'll make it. I know Russ Sullivan loves him. But
and now that they have a larger roster, Melvin stop
eating electric wires please.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
I think the defense is all but short up. Obviously, Hughes,
Slaven Wrensky McAvoy, Adam Fox, Faber and Jake Sanderson or
the seven you know eight. I don't know if you
want to bring Seth Jones or a young guy Jack Sanderson.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
I cannot believe he's scored. I cannot believe he scored
in that game. I almost welcome.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Yeah uh. And then obviously the Goldtender traps. Yeah yeah.
The Goltenders are definitely gonna stay the same, Hellibuck Ottinger
and now Swayman because I think Wolf is just kind
of playing himself out of position.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
There is there nobody else that's it because Swayman, I
mean he probably won't play it all, but still that's it.
That's our third best. I feel like we have such
a great, such an outstanding goalie. Depth and Swayman's are
third that someone's wrong with it.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Whoever.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
The whoever the third guy is, and so it could
be frigging anybody.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Probably probably not, but like just well, you also have
you also have to remember that, I mean, you're still
gonna roll with with Hellibook and you in the Olympics.
You don't have the you don't have the opportunity to
if he doesn't do well in the first game that
maybe you go to somebody else because you lose and
you're out. So they're gonna go with HELLI book no
matter what. And I think they're gonna go right into
(35:29):
it with Hellibook. I think Ottinger should get a chance
a legitimately, but that game said that being said, those
well again, and I don't know if you'll be able
to like the problem is that I don't think they'll
be able to find out. But that being said, Ottinger
and Hellibook are do not have very good track records
in in uh big game big games at the moment.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
So uh, Hellibook, Ottinger swaymen, you have Demco, you have
Charlie nd Grid.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
He gonna yeah, he played well in this uh the
last International enjoyed.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
You have a Dustin Wolf, Spencer Night and Kid and Primo.
Uh how about this.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Yeah, but what about that's the problem.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
It's a third goalie, right, it doesn't really matter all
that much. What about Jonathan Quick He's played awesome in
the games that he has started for the New York Rangers.
It's a third goalie. As a third goalie experience, he's
played in the Olympics. Maybe it's something that he can
talk to Hella Buck and Ottre, you know, and and.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
If there's he's I get what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
Guys play.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
I don't want Jonathan Quick being our guy a.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Third up. No, but if you if you have an injury,
you're gonna have another guy that can come in as
an injury replacement.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Yeah, then what happens to him and time and then
he's the man? I know.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
No, if one of the what's hurt, you're gonna bring
in Dustin Wolford Swayman as the next guy. But he's
always the third goalie in the room.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Yeah. I think the thing is what you're looking at.
I think Jonathan Quickly is a.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Great and you don't want a backup from way back
when not and.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
You also don't want you don't want to you don't
want a great backup. You don't want a great backup.
You want another starting goalie, another workhorse, and Thatcher Dempko
was that guy. It was just a shame that what
the heck happened with him?
Speaker 2 (37:33):
I mean, you would he would never dress quick, would
never dress, is what I'm getting at here.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
If he's the third goalie and something happens to the
first two goalies, he's the man.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
No, they have another You're allowed in the Olympics to
have another replacement come in in the event of injury.
So obviously, if two goalies get injured in the same game, then.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Point So what's the point of carrying him if he's.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Another guy's locker room presence?
Speaker 3 (38:01):
I don't. I don't know that he's that Is he
that much of a presence over.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Everywhere he's when he's been a big locker room guy
Vegas and everyone loves him New York, he's beloved.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
I mean, I'm not like that doesn't necessarily surprise me,
But I don't. I don't think that's I don't think
they need that. But again, he's a third he's a
third goalie. He's probably not gonna play. I think he's
a great I think he's currently a very good backup.
But for the Olympic team, you don't want to take
a very good backup, and you don't want to take
somebody based on what they did, you know, a decade ago.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
So well, but what a Swayman and right.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Swaymen and Dustin Wolf bring nothing at all. So that's
why I want That's why I want somebody else.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
I don't know the answer, you know, weird little.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
I would have loved. I would have loved for it
to be Demko. I don't don't Is he Is he
even playing right now?
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (39:00):
He's playing.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
All right, Well, show so much. I'm paying attention to Vancouver,
although this replace Vancouver tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
You got to see him.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Maybe she loves will play against his former team.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Yeah. People, Brook just doesn't even like my titles anymore.
I mean, but what am I doing here?
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Yeah? Brook, tell them it should say rock you like
a Hurricane Dean.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
It would have been perfect. I mean, these two jaggalloons
don't give me anything. So I'm working here on my own.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
I'm only one man for the rest of the season.
You just have to come up with the titles.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Fun to come with it, yes, exactly, all right?
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Drums next week. I'll be the week after next week.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
All right, Sam, to bother you guys from now on.
This show is right off the rails. Yes, yeah, exactly
has to be hockey themed. Jerks.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Uh was gonna be Dean blows goats.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I have proof, extra extra, I have.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Proof, extra extra.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Melvin's looking at me like freaking you. Have you seen
that the remake of pet Cemetery.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
No, I have not. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
I want Jesus uh cow in it. Yeah, he sure is,
and he's freaking awesome. I almost swear swore because that's
how good he is.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Dropped that before.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Anyway, I'm talking about that the new the new Church. Yeah,
church is she's a she. I think it's that she
is a main coon. And Melvin's looking at me. I
don't know if I don't know if the glare is gonna.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
Mm hmm glare. It looks it looks like a demon.
It looks like a demon.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
That's how he's looking at me right now.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
I heard that a Good Boy movie is very frightening.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
M hmm. I want to see it this morning.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
About it? Also, there was a there was we're getting
to the movies now, we're just totally stop talking. There's
the presence, the movie presence where it's told from the
from the view of the poltergeist itself. You see this
one last year. Yeah, apparently it's it's from the perspective
(41:28):
of the presence and it's actually here to like help
the person. So we're talking about ghost movies. Yeah, I
feel like slasher movies have just gotten terrible, like the Terrifiers,
the new Slasher thing, and you just it's just mutilation.
It's really just gore. It's not scary, it's just gore.
Pretty much. Yeah, great podcasting. Leyne Hudson obviously got the extension.
(41:57):
We didn't talk about that. What did we talk about
that last week? I half did. We don't remember, thought
we might have. Actually we did. Frank Nasar is doing
pretty well in Chicago. Connor Bradard student, okay, but Nasar
is doing well. He's actually one of those guys in
the US Radar he went to the camp probably not
(42:18):
a lot. He's good. He is good.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Who's also having a pretty good what's his name, Emmett
Finney on Detroit Detroit.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
He's playing on the number one line with.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
Yeah, he played as he basically played as well. Played
his way up to the number one line, and then
last week I think played on the number one line
and scored or last game against Edmonton scored two goals
and assists.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
So yeah, I think he is the leader. Is he
in the lead of clubhouse for points for a rookie?
Shane right? That was a mistake, yep, big mistake, Brady Chuck.
We didn't mention this, but he's out six eight weeks
from the thumb surgery. He kind of went int the
bards awkward and he pissed off at Romanyosi about it.
(43:08):
But I didn't really think that Romyosi did anything bad.
They tore some ligaments and thumb out of its surgery. Yikes.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Uh yeah, yeah, maybe that'll be a pod title.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
And then the last, uh yeah, the last thing I
have for you guys, and it's something that we chatted
about on Saturday as well, something that we were displeased with.
But Carter Hart one of the five that was involved
obviously in the whole Hockey Canada scandal, and while acquitted,
(43:48):
you know, we're obviously not big fans, and of course
the NHL GM's being who they are, Old Men's Club
and all this other stuff. They want to bring in
a goaltender because obviously equal tenders are the hardest thing
to find. Then, while he does have talent, he was
involved in this and it's you know, Vegas is a
team that could bring him in and kind of hide them.
(44:10):
You know, media markets not huge, so you know, the
fan blowback might not be as bad for them, but
they bring a card to hert and I don't like.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
It, but I mean, I freaking hate it. I'm not
even gonna try to try to hide that opinion of mine,
but I freaking hate it. And you know, there's organizations,
too many organizations that just do not care about character
(44:39):
at all. It's all about you know, and obviously it's
a business and they want to bring in money and
winning his money, I guess, but they just the if
you have to, and I'll keep it short and sweet
if you have. If you're signing or bringing in a player,
and as you're doing it, you need to make a
public statement yeah, before doing it as to why. That
(45:04):
is your indication that you're doing the wrong thing. And that's.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
Also to that the fact that your players are the
ones that have to answer for it, and that you're
not in front of the media taking questions and the
bombs from it. The front office and the ownership should
be the first ones in front of the podium taking
questions from media members, not the players. They didn't make
this decision. I'm sure they're on board with it. I'm
(45:30):
sure they talked to Ichale, Hey, we're thinking about doing this,
and he's not gonna say.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
The players have to do. They have to do. They
all have to stay the right thing. Right It's and
it's like, oh, now.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
You're not gonna go on our team anything. Yeah, but
isn't that that they have to answer these question I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
About, Like, you know, it depends on how much the
media questions is because I also question the question how much.
I don't know that they will to be honest with
you because I don't. I mean, I know that they
want like a big dramatics and they want to keep
bringing up stupid stuff.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
I e.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Why every single interview Pitt Sidney Crosby is always asked
about like when he's being traded or when he's or
who he's being traded. But yeah, and they you know,
they they had they hammer that point down. But like
I honestly, I don't know that the media. I think
the media is gonna stay silent about it. I think
they're just gonna pretend it never happened and and never
(46:24):
ask anybody about anything. I think maybe when he finally
plays his first game and somebody will ask him about like, oh,
how's it feel after blah blah blah, and it's gonna
be generic answer. You know absolutely nothing about you know,
the woman involved. And but anyway, before we go down
this rabbit hole of me getting very angry, I honestly
(46:49):
I think it's just going to be brushed off and
he's just going to be put on the team. He's
gonna play, and then that's gonna be the end of it.
And no one's gonna say a single, a damn thing
about it, because, like you said, this is the old
boys club, right, and it's just this is what's acceptable.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
So yeah, if it helps them win a hockey game,
they couldn't give a who what anybody thinks.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
It doesn't even matter about winning it. So it's I mean,
maybe maybe the team, but the ownership is just it's
just money, right, They only care about money, and it's
it's like, Okay, we need some goalie depth, and what's
the easiest solution. Let's bring in some guy who maybe
people thought were gonna be was gonna be the next
great thing for hockey Canada.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
And yeah, you know, and starving for goalies.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Yeah whatever, It's just it's it's there's plenty of goalies,
and there's plenty of goalies in the league, plenty of
serviceable goalies, plenty of good character, good people in the league,
and then you just got to bring in and this
is probably not the end of it, of it all,
but because I'm sure more of them are going to
(47:55):
come back, but.
Speaker 4 (47:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (47:57):
I'm just I'm disgusted with it, to be honest, if
you want my honest opinion with all of.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
This, it's it's it's shitty.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
It really is the best sport worst league once again.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
Exactly, Yeah, that is what is.
Speaker 3 (48:19):
We're NL this situation. This situation is he's waiting to
tell him, Yeah, he'sficially time they reinstated him. Like the NHL,
the NHL isn't exclusive to this kind of behavior, so
I shouldn't say it's just this.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
No, they aren't, but usually there's a little more. I
feel like the other leagues do a better job at
some time quote unquote reprimanding, reprimanding people right like NFL players,
they suspend them right away. Obviously, the whole thing with
you know, with the quarterback Deshaun Watson, they suspend them
(48:57):
right away and then they wait. Like the NHL, I
know that they put them on hiatus, but like what,
they give them up five months of you can't play
hockey and then in December you're going to come back
and play. So like whatever, It's just a shitty to
talk about because obviously, you know, the judge said, we're
not gonna getting this because.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
Yeah, because the case, the case is what it is,
and I understand that the league is kind of you know,
they got their hands tied at least a little bit
because you let it go through litigation and you wait
to see what the result is. And then I mean
we all saw what happened through it and the fact
that like you know, this wasn't even they didn't even
get a jury. It was literally one judge made the
(49:39):
decision on all of this, and it was I mean, again,
I don't want to go into the detailer, but I
understand that the league could be, you know, their hands
could be kind of tied because They're like, Okay, we
suspended them throughout the legal protests, It went through the
legal process, it had a finality at you know, whatever
the hell it was, and it's just like, well, I mean,
(50:00):
what else can we say. It went to court and
this is the result. So now we just kind of
have to let it be what it is, which is horrible.
But you know, I'm not trying to come to the
league's defense because you know, I have major complaints about
all But I guess I get it. I guess I
guess I get it because you know, what else can
(50:20):
you do? But I mean, as as a league, I
