But my point to this, the top five is the
kid renaissance because you have you know, but Dard's having

bunch of just young kids coming up doing fantastic things.
And the NHL is so bright for these many reasons. Right,

there's you know, a little more known names why Johnston, Matthew,

nice guys like this, but it's it's really you know,
it's the Will Smiths at you know, sixteen points a

in the NHL, who would be Ivan Barbashev. There's tied
for forty one. All of these guys from forty one
and above are at or greater than a point per

game players. That's awesome like that. They're The scoring in
the National Hockey League has taken off this season. And
don't really know exactly why. You know, I think goalies
have not been as good, but I think maybe just
offensives have changed, you know, just different things. But uh,
it's it's a lot of fun to watch and a

like this where you continually see growth, and like I said,
the young players is where you want to see that
major growth and it's it's a lot of fun, you know,

I think a lot of this year, a lot of
the guys that were like, are like Leo Carlson, for example,
he's taken a freaking huge step. Like we knew he
was going to be good. We knew he was good,
and we you know, projected him to be pretty good.

number one in the West. Uh, you have the Utah Mammoth. Well,
they've taken a step back. They still have eighteen points
and you know, tied for tiede for you know, fourth
in their league. Chicago has gone they've won three or
four and won their last ten. Yeah they won three.

San Jose, Yeah, another one that's that's done really well.
And then in the East you got Montreal who's leading.
You have the you got the Devils and Hurricanes at
the Metro. But Pittsburgh's right there with their rookie you know,
winger and and number one overall power play guy. It's
it's a lot of fun, you know, and the Rangers, Yeah,
Boston real Yeah, uh Morgan Kiky just came out of

nowhere to do things. That's a lot of fun, it
really is. And you know, just the overall abundance of scoring,
like I said, has been a real fun thing to watch,
something that I think was talent in.

The league and now like these kids are these kids
are like growing into it. And you know that like
the influx of talent that comes in every year, like
you know, you expect, you know, some of these kids
to be, you know, pretty good. But then there's kids
that have been in the league for a couple of
years and they hit like they hit that stride where
you know they're just they can turn it on and

all of a sudden, boom, they're a point per game player.
Even more so, it's like a lot of these kids
are are really performing well and it's awesome to see,
especially like sel Briney and Carlson and all them. Like
we knew they were gonna be good, but like we
didn't think, like, you know, they'd be like on pace
with Nathan Nathan McKinnon's and the and the Conor McDavid's
and all them. It's crazy it's awesome to say.

And especially you know Connor Bdard. We've but yeah, he
he went from from being a guy that some people
were thinking, hey, maybe maybe he's not that type of player.
Maybe they got this one wrong, which is pretty amazing
to think from a guy that was generally considered, you know,

it was considered a generational talent. And how often does
that happen.

Something happens the guy is like he has like a
little bit of an off season or an off a
couple of months or something like that, everybody's ready to write.

just like, I'm not surprised that he's able to bounce back.

would want him on his team. So all these people

playing with the Devils and Zubris was on his line
as a linemate, and that he was saying that Subris
was shutting Yager down as a teammate because he was,
you know, playing so bad. And he goes, I got
traded from Pittsburgh and had one hundred twenty points. They
put me with Zubras on the line and I had seventy,
so it was a fifty percent drop. So it wasn't

a good move. But after ten years he's a little
bit better. Another one was if if if they use
you in a shootout before me, I'm going to ask
to be traded, Yager said, with a laugh, before giving
up more thought. No, I'm going to retire, he said instead.
Yaga joked that it was a thrill playing with him
with Zubras, but then Zuber's countered, well, it wasn't very mutual.

Yaga referenced how Zubras should have won the Sulky Trophy
for shutting him down misscoring, and he said what They
asked him, what role does Zubers play? And Yager goes,

And then finally you see the first rumor that they're
looking for a goalie because now there's the rumor that
they might get Yucy Sorrows, which should have been doing
this for how long now, like waiting they needed to
need like three years ago. Yes exactly. I don't know.

They're idiots, so whatever, I hope they they really suck
even more so anyway, So yeah, McKinnon one, I think,
uh this Batard or Leo Carlson.

Two tied for two twenty five points a piece. Leo
Carlson drafted two years ago. Connor Berguard have drafted three
years ago, and then Celebrini I think is fourth four
drafted two years ago, and number five David is six
or something slick willy slick slick willy Nilander as side five,

But my point to this, the top five is the
kid renaissance because you have you know, but Dard's having
an awesome your nine goals, Carlson and Celebrna Bolt ten
goals apiece, they've been awesome. Obviously, Cutter Gotier scoring you know,

at a at a ridiculous rate as well. He's got
eleven goals in fifteen games. But you have a whole
bunch of just young kids coming up doing fantastic things.
And the NHL is so bright for these many reasons. Right,
You've you know, Trevor Zegris is doing really well in Philly,
and you have you know, Marchenko, and you have obviously
there's you know, a little more known names why Johnston, Matthew,

nice guys like this, but it's it's really you know,
it's the Will Smiths at you know, sixteen points a
point per game player. Yep, yeah, what's his name in
Oh my god, in Pittsburgh. The rookie Kindall Kendall, he's Kindle. Yeah,
he's doing awesome. And you know, just the youth movement

is so much fun to watch and you have but
I was actually just looking at this, how many guys
are already a point per game to start the season.
I'm looking at Yeah, no, the number forty one scorer
in the NHL, who would be Ivan Barbashev. There's tied
for forty one. All of these guys from forty one
and above are at or greater than a point per

game players. That's awesome like that. They're The scoring in
the National Hockey League has taken off this season. And
don't really know exactly why. You know, I think goalies
have not been as good, but I think maybe just
offensives have changed, you know, just different things. But uh,
it's it's a lot of fun to watch and a
lot of fun to you know, cover you know, sport
(07:08):
like this where you continually see growth, and like I said,
the young players is where you want to see that
major growth and it's it's a lot of fun, you know,
a lot of fun to see.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I think a lot of this year, a lot of
the guys that were like, are like Leo Carlson, for example,
he's taken a freaking huge step. Like we knew he
was going to be good. We knew he was good,
and we you know, projected him to be pretty good.

We didn't.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yeah, we didn't think he's going to be number two
in the league and scoring, you know, challenge him to
be number one. And we didn't think Anaheim was going
to be one of the best teams this could like
right now, they're like seven straight I think also right.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Look at look at the standings. You have an I
number one in the West. Uh, you have the Utah Mammoth. Well,
they've taken a step back. They still have eighteen points
and you know, tied for tiede for you know, fourth
in their league. Chicago has gone they've won three or
four and won their last ten. Yeah they won three.
(08:12):
San Jose, Yeah, another one that's that's done really well.
And then in the East you got Montreal who's leading.
You have the you got the Devils and Hurricanes at
the Metro. But Pittsburgh's right there with their rookie you know,
winger and and number one overall power play guy. It's
it's a lot of fun, you know, and the Rangers, Yeah,
Boston real Yeah, uh Morgan Kiky just came out of
(08:35):
nowhere to do things. That's a lot of fun, it
really is. And you know, just the overall abundance of scoring,
like I said, has been a real fun thing to watch,
something that I think was talent in.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
The league and now like these kids are these kids
are like growing into it. And you know that like
the influx of talent that comes in every year, like
you know, you expect, you know, some of these kids
to be, you know, pretty good. But then there's kids
that have been in the league for a couple of
years and they hit like they hit that stride where
you know they're just they can turn it on and
(09:12):
all of a sudden, boom, they're a point per game player.
Even more so, it's like a lot of these kids
are are really performing well and it's awesome to see,
especially like sel Briney and Carlson and all them. Like
we knew they were gonna be good, but like we
didn't think, like, you know, they'd be like on pace
with Nathan Nathan McKinnon's and the and the Conor McDavid's
and all them. It's crazy it's awesome to say.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
And especially you know Connor Bdard. We've but yeah, he
he went from from being a guy that some people
were thinking, hey, maybe maybe he's not that type of player.
Maybe they got this one wrong, which is pretty amazing
to think from a guy that was generally considered, you know,

it was considered a generational talent. And how often does
that happen.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Something happens the guy is like he has like a
little bit of an off season or an off a
couple of months or something like that, everybody's ready to write.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Him off, like, yeah, I mean had a bad year
plus so that was.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Honestly, he didn't have the greatest year. But he's like,
come on, we knew this kid was gonna be good,
and he's the team is around him is doing well
now and he's performing at a high level. So it's
just like, I'm not surprised that he's able to bounce back.
He's extremely extremely good player.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yeah, you're very very good, so looking forward to anybody
would want him on his team. So all these people
sayings could be a bust. These people are you are
as dumb as the day is round. A couple of
other things, you know, obviously injuries kind of hitting a
little bit of a toll here, Carlson exit, you know,

the the Night's game with an injury, you've Dubois here,
Luketaboa out three to four months. He had a Donald
surgery for the Capital, so that's a you know, a
big hole for their second line center. I feel like
he's always right. Yeah, I do too, Yeah, he does
feel like that kind of like hurt club, you know.
Rasmus DLin not injury, but he's going back to uh

Sweden support his fiance. I don't think I saw anything
of a reason why, but oh that's right. Heart surgeries.

team has been. And they're the best team on the road,

Right Now my fear about the Rangers right now, they're
gonna start singing at home with this game. So this

can hopefully continue this way and then they're gonna go
on the road start Wednesday and they're gonna come back
down to earth. So they played Tampa on Wednesday, so yeah,
that's why it's gonna happen. Yeah, that makes sense, it
does it make sense.

There's talks a lot, you know, this is earlier last week,
so I went to get too much into it, but
that just justice in Noonan the that he knocked off
the net and they scored h So that yeah, I mean,
I understand the rule, but what I didn't like is
Johansson got a shot off as the net was being
taken off, and the only reason he got the puck

back onto his stick to shoot again was because he
hit it off the net, and the net because it
was off, actually pushed it back to his stick where
you know, if it wasn't that way, he might not
gotten the puck right back. It would have been a
stoppager play. I don't know. I thought was a little weird,
But I don't think he didn't even have to shoot it.

was only one year that he actually was like the

and look at Duncan Keith and he was he you know,

was he was Chicago's Backhawks. Yeah, teams two cups, three

tenure with them. And you know, he was named one
of one hundred greatest players in the NHL when they

they got to be like very structured defensively. I don't
know if Edmonton is like that structured defensively. I think
they could use one.

More defenseman because I like Wollman. Obviously Bouchard they're not
gonna get rid of him. Ack Holme has always been,
you know, steady. I think they are missing that other
top four defenseman. But I mean, if you're really gonna,
you know, pick one or the other, I think it's goaltender.
And I don't even Yeah, obviously.

They need they need an upgrading goal like we've been
saying that for freaking I don't even know how long years.

Yeah, it feels like left and.

Yeah and he was like old as hell and still
it was very good for that. But like they like
never draft or develop goalies, they never try to sign
a goalie or trade for a goalie. Well I guess
they signed goalies, just not the right ones. But holy hell,
and like, yeah, do it, I guess, do what you
gotta do. Go out, pay a premium, get a goalie.

this Joe Thorne's story. So Jason de Murs was on
a podcast and he was talking about how Thornton wanted
to bring the team together. This was, Uh, I forgot
what year he said this was. It was it was
a during his career with just Amrves on the team,
and he wanted to bring him better together. So he

took the bathroom doors, like the stall doors off their hinges,
so that you would have to take a you know,
use the toilet in front of everybody else. So if
you were taking a you know, number two, the door
was wide open and it was right next to where
the showers are, so people in the showers would walk
right by you as you're you know, letting the kids

off of the pool. And and he said that no
one for about two weeks went around the toilet to
drop you know, deuce. But he would that, you know,
uh Jumbo would just sit there and talk to people
as he's you know, uh using the toilet. And it
was one of those things where it just brought everybody together,

you know, the the openness of the locker room. So
I thought it was very funny that take a look, yeah,
real bonding.

There's a couple of stuff because obviously the Rangers just
had their hundred years you're having the one hundred year celebration,
and they brought in Yoger and he was talking with
a bunch of people and they were talking. They got
into like stuff about Danius Zubris and Yager was saying
that he's shutting me down. Who knows where I could
(26:51):
be if I didn't have him on my line, I
would be an all star. This was when he was
playing with the Devils and Zubris was on his line
as a linemate, and that he was saying that Subris
was shutting Yager down as a teammate because he was,
you know, playing so bad. And he goes, I got
traded from Pittsburgh and had one hundred twenty points. They
put me with Zubras on the line and I had seventy,
so it was a fifty percent drop. So it wasn't
(27:11):
a good move. But after ten years he's a little
bit better. Another one was if if if they use
you in a shootout before me, I'm going to ask
to be traded, Yager said, with a laugh, before giving
up more thought. No, I'm going to retire, he said instead.
Yaga joked that it was a thrill playing with him
with Zubras, but then Zuber's countered, well, it wasn't very mutual.

I was. Yager is unable to stop laughing. He said,
tell them how you would shut me down in Washington.
Yaga referenced how Zubras should have won the Sulky Trophy
for shutting him down misscoring, and he said what They
asked him, what role does Zubers play? And Yager goes,
I'm trying to figure that out. I don't know. Give
me a month. Yoga is so awesome talking about obviously

one of his former teammates, Daniszubris, but very good funny.

I think I saw something. He just met those guys
that are the Traveling Yagers. Whatever game they were all

gotten you know, better defensively, just can't score. Uh. They

analysis for the year defensive rating, Gaverkov was number one
at three point eight. So this is defense rating done

Who is it? Fireside content? I think it was for
the defensive metrics. Brandon McNabb two, Adam Fox three Theodore,

on that list at ten, obviously known for more offense
than anything else. That was pretty much it for that.

they'd talk more and more about the NHL and the
Olympics coming up and who they think could possibly you know,

and he did not have Logan Cooley in it, which
I thought was just blasphemous. Who did this? Ryan Clark

And then for Canada, he did not have badard or

should not be on Team Canada. There's no fighting like

so a player like that is essentially useless. And Tom
Wilson is a useless player.

look at like everyone's been horrible. Bennington has not been good.

of the worst goal you know goalies Hoffer and the
