Brother Brian Brown shares a profound message on "The Privilege of the Cross," revealing how Christ's sacrifice grants believers unprecedented access to God's presence that was impossible before Calvary. His personal testimony of feeling God's consistent presence through losing his wife demonstrates the practical power of understanding this privilege.

• God is still holy today, just as He was in the Old Testament
• Before Christ, only priests could enter God's presence, and only once yearly
• The cross allows us to stand before God without a mediator
• When God enters our gathering place, it becomes the Holy of Holies
• Understanding the privilege of access precedes experiencing the power of deliverance
• Like the prodigal son, we often don't value our spiritual privileges until they're lost
• Brother Brown found gratitude through loss because his wife "got what she lived for"
• We should enter God's presence with thanksgiving, rejoicing in our privilege to worship
• God deserves our sacrifice of praise because of the privilege His cross provides
• The Spirit's presence is guaranteed when we gather properly in Jesus' name

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hello, this is Brother Zach Kaufman from Ohio.
Thank you for tuning in toHoliness Preaching Online.
Here's a sermon from a greatpreacher.
Enjoy Well.

(00:33):
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
I'm nervous.
I'll just tell you that, brother Randy Rippman Knapp, and
that's all it did.
You know, I was thinking aboutall the preachers that's here,
and if you made them, let's say,a book, they'd be encyclopedias

(00:56):
and they'd be commentaries, andwhat I am, if I was in book
form, is more of a C-spot walkquickly with a slight limp and
so and that's.
But you've got to have C-spottoo, and I appreciate everything

(01:21):
that y'all have been sofriendly to us since we've been
here, the prayers that has beenprayed for our family through
the loss of my wife, and I cantell you this there's not been a
time that I've knelt down sinceshe had her aneurysm, that I
have not felt God, not one time, not a time in the hospital, not

(01:47):
a time since then that I havefound out that he has been right
beside me.
You know, I had somebody ask methe other day well, do you
think you'll get angry?
I said for what?
Because she got what she livedfor.
How could that make me angry?
Do I have some questions, I do,but when I get there they won't

(02:10):
matter.
And so I just believe I'lltrust Him.
That's what I believe.
I believe that I'll just put myhand in His hand and I believe
that I'll just see, because he'sled me thus far and I believe
he's just going to lead me allthe way.
And so why would I get angry ata God who's been there every
moment and every step of the way?

(02:31):
Doesn't make no sense to me.
Now y'all are going to figureout real quick.
My English ain't real good.
I've wrestled with it for years, amen.
And my wife of 29 years beforeGod took her, tried and tried to
get it right.
And finally, brother Randy, shejust threw her hands up and
said whatever, whatever, praiseGod.

(02:54):
But I do have something.
And, like I said, I appreciatethe accommodations.
Everybody's.
On the way back to the niceplace to stay, my daughter said
it's not like we've been hereour first time, it's like we're
from here.
Everybody's been so good to us.
God's got good people, amen, god's got good people.

(03:15):
And let's go to Matthew 27.
And I'll try to get out of theway.
And, brother John, he couldpreach mediocre when I'm done.
It would be the best messagehe'd ever preach.
I'm going to help him out.
I'm going to help him out, andMatthew 27 will begin in verse

(03:37):
46.
God put this on me.
I tried to get it off, but Ijust couldn't.
The Bible says In about theninth hour, jesus cried with a
loud voice, saying Eli, elilakthabakhthani, that is to say,
my God, my God, why hast thouforsaken me?

(03:59):
Some of them that stood therewhen they heard that said this
man calleth for Elias andstraightway.
One of them ran and took a.
They heard that said this mancalleth for Elias, and
straightway.
One of them ran and took asponge and filled it with
vinegar and put it on a reed andgave him to drink.
The rest said let, let, uh, letbe, let us see whether Elias
will come.
Eli will come to save him.

(04:20):
Jesus, when he cried again witha loud voice, yielded up the
ghost.
Behold, the veil of the templewas rent in twain, from top to
bottom, and the earth did quakeand the rocks rent.
If you would help me, pray, god, I need your anointing, I need
you to stand by me.
I need your words to be mywords, god.
I need my thoughts to be yourthoughts.
I pray, help me, o God, I pray.

(04:42):
Thoughts, I pray, help me, ohGod.
I pray right now, lord, I needthe Holy Ghost to stand by me
and help me, god, to rightlydivide the word of truth.
God to deliver this how it isthat you gave it to me.
In Jesus' name, amen, I want topreach on a very simple thought
the privilege of the cross.

(05:02):
The privilege of the cross, and,uh, we see that obviously that
christ here has died on thatcross, that he, he made a way.
But before I ever get there, Iwant to you know why.
Why are are we here tonight?
What are our motives?
What is our purpose?
What, what, what privilege dowe have?

(05:25):
You know, privilege is a right,an immunity granted as a
particular benefit, an advantageor favor, privilege.
See, we have to understand that, prior to the cross, that there
was not you and I could notstand in the presence of God.
We have to understand that, before the privilege of the
cross, that you and I were notable in the presence of God.
We have to understand that, before the privilege of the

(05:46):
cross, that you and I were notable to walk into His presence,
that we had to take oursacrifice and give it to the
priest.
But we were not able tosacrifice.
It was something we had to give, but it was something we could
not do, and so everything thatwe did had to go through a
priest, and really us, beingGentiles, didn't even have that
right, could not do.
And so everything that we didhad to go through a priest and
everything that, and really us,being gentiles, didn't even have

(06:08):
that right.
And so every day the priest hadto go, twice a day for the
continual burn offering that hadevery day, and then one time a
year, only the priest, the highpriest, was allowed into the
holy of holies one time time ayear, not every day.
And like I have said, startingout that every day since my wife

(06:31):
had her aneurysm, I have feltthe presence of God Every day.
That is a privilege of thecross.
See, we can never get to thepower of the cross until we
understand the privilege of thecross.
We can never get to the powerof the cross until we understand
the privilege of the cross.
We can never get to a placewhere we understand.
You know, some people thinktoday that, for some reason,

(06:52):
that God is not holy, as holy ashe was in the Old Testament.
We have failed to understandand to realize that God is still
holy, that because we have torealize that because of Jesus
Christ that you and I are ablewhen we were sinners, or if we

(07:12):
come in here tonight and we'restruggling or we're struggling
with a sin, it is because ofJesus that you and I are able to
stand in the presence of God,because of the privilege of the
cross of Calvary, because if itwas not for Jesus and the
presence of God came in here, hewould see who we are, for what

(07:34):
we are, and not one of us wouldbe able to live in the presence
of a holy God.
But because of Jesus andbecause of the cross, when the
presence of God Steps into thechurch, he does not see you and
he does not see me, but he seesJesus.
He sees the lamb slain From thefoundation of the world.

(07:58):
That's what he sees.
And so you and I need tounderstand the privilege we have
To be in the presence of God.
It's a privilege to worship Him.
It's a privilege for a Gentileto be able to stand where God is

(08:20):
, and we know that we feel thepresence of God tonight.
We felt it this morning.
We're not counting on a highpriest to go in there.
One time a year is all he gotone time a year.
And the thing is he had tosacrifice his way into the holy
of holies.
He had to sacrifice for himself, he had to sacrifice for the

(08:42):
nation, while the nation stoodoutside and waited for him to
come back.
Aren't you glad for the crossof Calvary, the privilege that
you and I have To be able tolift our hands and worship God,
to be able to feel the presenceof God, to be able to feel the
convicting spirit of God.
We have to realize, church, that we have really an

(09:06):
obligation.
We come to church sometimes, hohum, we come to church sometimes
and we think I hope the spiritdon't move.
I'm tired tonight.
We come to church sometimes andwe think I hope they don't sing

(09:28):
that song that sister, so andso, always shouts in, whatever
it is.
Maybe it's I never shall forgetthe day, and maybe that song
begins to burn in somebody.
Every service they sing it andevery time they sing it.
Maybe it's because they neverforgot the day.
Maybe it's because they realizewhat god brought them from and

(09:50):
they don't want to ever forgetthe day that god saved them and
brought them out.
But we come in and we hope it'sgoing to be a ho-hum service.
And we come in and we hope thatthe Spirit of God doesn't move
and we don't realize theprivilege we have to just stand
in the presence of a holy GodBecause he is holy.

(10:11):
I know some people arepreaching that he's not, but
he's still holy.
The cherubims and the seraphimsare still flying around the
throne room of God and they'restill crying holy, holy, holy is
the Lord, god Almighty, and theonly reason they're praising
him is not because of salvation,it's because he's holy.

(10:34):
That's the only reason thatthey're doing the worship
they're doing.
It's not for what he's done,it's not for anything other than
he's holy.
And so we understand.
Do we understand the privilegethat we have?
The cross it grants us theprivilege to be in the presence

(10:57):
of God.
The cross it grants us theprivilege to be in the presence
of God.
The cross it grants us theprivilege to be able to worship
Him.
Did we come here tonight tohear Brother John preach?
Good, he probably will.
He usually does.
Did we come here tonight to seewhat they're going to have
afterwards?
See, we have to realize, fortwo or three are gathered in

(11:18):
Matthew 18 and 20 together in myname.
There am I, in the midst ofthem.
That's the privilege of thecross that you and I could
gather tonight and we could feelthe presence of God and we
could feel the holiness of God,and we could feel conviction and

(11:39):
the, and we could feelconviction and and and the
things in our life that ain'tright, that God would convict us
of that.
We could gather, but we have tounderstand it's the privilege
of the cross that allows it andand I'm almost, it's the
privilege of the cross thatallows us to worship.
It's the privilege of the crossthat allows us to stand in
God's presence.
You'll never get to the powerof the cross until you realize

(12:01):
you have a privilege to juststand in God's presence.
The prodigal son neverunderstood the privilege of the
father's house until he went tothe far country.
And when he was in the farcountry, then he understood the
privilege that he had back home.
He understood the privilegethat he had back home.
He understood the privilege ofthe bread.
He understood the privilege ofthe cattle.

(12:23):
He understood the privilege ofthe father's house, but it
wasn't until he was in the farcountry till he understood what
he really lost when he left outof daddy's house and us.
At times we don't reallyunderstand what we lose until
we've lost it.
Amen.
We don't realize the privilegethat we have of being raised in

(12:47):
the house of God.
I wasn't raised in church.
I didn't come around holinessuntil after my wife was backslid
and we got married and she tookme to a holiness church and I
thought I was crazy.
Amen.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
I didn't have that privilege.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Some of you today, I feel like in my spirit, some of
you, young people, are battlingwhether or not you want to stay.
Take it from somebody who knowswhat the world has to offer.
You have a privilege.
God has given you favor to beraised in the house of God, to

(13:38):
be raised to hear God's word, the truth of God's word, amen.
It's a privilege.
And that prodigal son didn'tunderstand the privilege of the
father's house Until he didn'thave it anymore.
And sometimes the churchdoesn't understand the spirit of
God Until it doesn't moveanymore.

(13:59):
We want to sit on it and wewant to hold it back and we want
to just sit around and we don'trealize it until all of a
sudden you're searching For justto feel a little bit of God and
God isn't showing up anymoreand we didn't realize the
privilege that we had.
And why do we get okay and I'mfixing to get out of the way how

(14:20):
do we get okay with a dead, dryservice?
Why do we get okay with God notmoving?
Why do we get okay with theSpirit of God not ushering in
among us?
When Jesus said in Matthew Ifyou gather in my name, then I
will be there, he guaranteed it.
So if we are not filling him, then evidently we didn't gather

(14:44):
rightly.
But do you know really whywe're here?
Do we know that we're here?
Do we know that we are here tosacrifice praise that we really

(15:04):
have become the high priest, that as we enter into the church
house, that we are to enterinto the Holy of Holies with
thanksgiving and praise, thatwhen God enters this place it
becomes the Holy of Holies?
What made the Holy of Holiesthe Holy of Holies is because
the Ark of the Covenant wasthere and it was a

(15:25):
representation of the Spirit ofGod, and that is what made that
the Holy of Holies.
And that is why, when Jesusdied and that red veil was rent
in twain.
So now you and I can boldlycome to the throne room of God
and we are stepping in tonightinto the Holy of Holies, because
the presence of God is here andwe have the privilege to be in

(15:48):
it.
Should we not worship Him?
Should we not praise Him?
Should we not magnify Him?
Should we not thank Him for thecross?
Should we not thank him forsalvation, should we not?
Well, I'm telling you what hedeserves the praise of his
people.
He deserves a sacrifice ofpraise of his people.

(16:19):
Psalms 101 through 5,.
What does it say?
What does it say Are you goingto praise Him?
You know I'll go back and I'mdone.
Why would I get angry?
Why would I get angry?

(16:40):
Why would I get angry?
It gave me 28.
Well, we were together, 29,married, 28.
Why would I get angry?
I said all along my marriagewas better than hers.
She had to put up with me andif you all understood what she
put up with, you'd get that.
You'd get the point, brother.

(17:02):
But I remember the day that shepassed, I got on my knees and I
said God, thank you for 28years, thank you for giving her

(17:27):
and me 28 years.
He's worthy of praise becauseof the privilege of the cross.
If you don't mind, I'll get outof the way.
Psalms 100.
And this is where I want to endwith why?

(17:48):
Because we need to praise Him.
We don't have to have BrotherRandy go before God in order for
you and I to feel God.
We don't have to have brotherRandy go before God in order for
you and I to feel God.
We don't have to take oursacrifice and bring it to
brother Randy or brother BillParks or brother John Brock and
say would you take this into thepresence of God for me, no, we

(18:09):
can take our sacrifice, ourselfand our praise into the presence
of God ourselves and feel theanointing of the Holy Ghost, and
feel the presence of Godourselves and feel the anointing
of the Holy Ghost and feel thepower of God.
And why would we not take ourprivilege, make a joyful noise

(18:30):
unto the Lord.
All ye lands, serve the Lordwith gladness, come before his
presence with singing.
Now, y'all don't want me to sing?
Trust me, praise God.
I'll sing in the shower and thewater shut off, hallelujah.
But it doesn't mean that I'm allalone sometimes.
I'll just begin to sing Amen, hallelujah, and sing and know

(18:54):
that, and with gladness andpresence and singing and know
that the Lord, he is God, andsing and know that, and with
gladness and presence andsinging and know that the Lord,
he is God and he is.
That hath made us and not weourselves.
We are His people and the sheepof His pasture.
Enter into His gates withthanksgiving and to His courts
with praise.
Be thankful unto Him and blessHis name, for the Lord is good,

(19:17):
his mercy is everlasting and thetruth endureth to all
generations and the privilege ofthe cross gives us the right to
praise Him, it gives us theright to enter with thanksgiving
, it gives us the right to beable to worship Him.
And when we understand thatprivilege, then we'll understand

(19:40):
the power.
When you understand theprivilege, then you can tap into
the power that delivers youfrom sin.
But you first need to recognizethat you're privileged To even
stand in his presence.
God bless you all.

(20:02):
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
