Brother Howell delivers a powerful message about spiritual hunger in today's churches, drawing from the book of Amos to show how God sends a famine "not of bread or water but of hearing the words of the Lord." He passionately addresses the problem of churches substituting entertainment for anointing and delivering shallow spiritual nourishment that leaves God's people starving.

• The prophet Amos, a humble shepherd and fruit-grower, exemplifies speaking truth to spiritually complacent people
• Modern churches often promise spiritual fruit but deliver only leaves, like the fig tree Jesus cursed
• True spiritual hunger pains are a sign of malnourishment, not a character flaw
• Jesus himself experienced hunger and fully understands our spiritual cravings
• God's "lion cubs" will never ultimately lack – He will always provide genuine spiritual food
• The difference between counterfeit religious experiences and true anointing is discernible
• Every believer deserves fresh bread, not reheated or stale spiritual nourishment
• When churches stop responding to God's word, they experience spiritual famine
• The solution to spiritual hunger is coming to Jesus' table – "Come and dine"

Speaker 1 (00:00):
To live in our day, to see what we're seeing and to
know what we know.
My Isaiah would have loved tobeen here, amen.
Jeremiah would have loved tobeen here.
Elijah would have thunderedfrom pulpit so loud they would

(00:20):
have thought the earth hadquaked.
To live in this day, amen, amen.
They prophesied of it.
They longed to look into it,but it was a closed book to them
.
It's an open book to us.
We're seeing more than anyother generation has ever seen.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Oh God, oh God.
And a voice spoke to Ezekieland said son of man, can these
bones live again?
Oh, that's what I'm asking youtonight.
Can our holiness churches havethe demonstration of the spirit
and the power back in them again?
Can our sick still come?

(01:11):
Amen to our churches and finddeliverance?
Amen through the power of thestripes that was laid upon Jesus
back.
Oh, I know we don't like thatdoctrine, but it's in the Bible
anyhow.
They've been cancer home asinner friends can come and walk

(01:32):
through the doors and say I'meither gotta get in or get out
the spirits to go to powerful.
There was a day, neighbor, whenthe sinners could not come and
sleep on our pews like they dotoday, because we have life in
us.
I think one of the greatestdisappointments is to invite a

(01:54):
sinner from the congregation ofthe dead and take him to the
church where the church is dead.
Oh, what a disappointment.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
And I want to tell you so it is in life, when
you're going to heaven, amen.
Don't fly so low that the worldhas an attraction and a pull on
you.
If you are flying, come on here, amen.
To where the pleasures of thisworld are pulling at you, amen.
You're flying too low.
You need to get up higher.
Amen.
Fly high, children.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Again.
Oh, how we miss Brother Jessetonight Again.
Oh how we miss Brother Jessetonight.
The absence of his presence canbe felt tremendously over here
on my left, Praise the Lord.
I'd appreciate it if BrotherRoebkat would ease over there
and sit in Brother Jesse's seat.
That way maybe I'd feel likesomebody's just sitting there.
It looks so vacant, like avacuum, Just Brother Jesse and

(03:45):
his little tribe being gone.
If you have your Bibles withyou I trust that you do.
If you happen to not have it,there should be one nearby.
Would you take it in your handsand would you put your fingers
on those golden leaves and turnwith me to the book of Amos?
May I direct your attention tothe 8th chapter and the 11th

(04:08):
verse.
Brother Nathaniel Hebrews, chapter number 4, verse number
14 and 15.
And Brother Jonathan, Psalm, chapter number 34 and verse
number 10.
How many of you believe it'simportant how you live your life
.
Not only is it important foryou and your family, your spouse

(04:31):
, your community, your church, family, corporately, concerning
the kingdom, the people of God,it's important how you live your
life.
It matters.
Brother Richard, jacob, I wantto speak of you for a minute.
Brother Jesse is in Louisville, kentucky, on business.
Last night after he went out toeat at the Outback, he said he

(04:52):
was in his street clothes and hesaid that he just took his
family to a holiness church thatwas having service on Tuesday
night midweek service.
He eased in there and churchhad just started and at the end
of the service there was a groupof 16 people that approached
him and greeted him and theyjust loved meeting one another.

(05:13):
And after the introduction andafter the conversation, after
some span of time, one of thepeople said who's your daddy now
?
And he said Jeremy Howell.
And they said he's in SouthFlorida and they said yes,
that's where our church is at.
And they said you know, we'repart of the Shady Springs

(05:35):
Fellowship and said a dear, dearsaint of God, a friend of ours
years ago, told all of us heheard from God and he was moving
to south florida to attend.
Hey, sister vicki, I just sawyou back there, so good to see
you and other visitor, good tosee y'all.
But he said, they said, wow, sister vicki, you done threw me

(05:59):
off here.
That's so good to see you, sogood to see you.
But brother, uh rich see you.
But brother Richard Jacob, brother Jesse said they said you
mean to tell me Richard Jacobgoes to church with you.
And brother Jesse said yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.
We are that church family thatbrother, richard Jacob, left

(06:20):
Indiana for the wife.
She spoke up, the wife of thepastor and she said all of them,
jacob brothers, are justwonderful, sweet, great men of
God.
And she said every one of themare hard workers, every one of
them are men of excellence.

(06:41):
And I thought to myself wow,she is literally echoing what
we've been saying over the lasttwo and a half to three weeks
and just saying a big, heartyamen, praise God, so it matters.
So Brother Jacob has left amark in Indiana and northern

(07:03):
Kentucky.
For the glory of God, he hasmade an impact.
Not only has he done that innorthern Kentucky and lower
Indiana, he's doing that now insouth Florida.
Aren't you thankful for a manof his capacity and caliber
being here tonight?
I thank God for Brother Jacobbeing here tonight.

(07:24):
I thank God for Brother Jacob.
Alright, brother NathanielHebrews.
Chapter number 4, verses number14 and 15.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
Seeing, then, that we have a great high priest that
is passed into the heavens, jesus, the Son of God, let us
hold fast our profession offaith, for we have not a high
priest which cannot be touchedwith a feeling of our
infirmities, but was in allpoints tempted.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
Amen.
I'm so thankful that our Lordcan feel what we're feeling.
I'm glad that he empathizeswith His people.
Brother Jonathan's Psalm,chapter number 34 and verse
number 10.
The young lions do lack andsuffer hunger, but they that
seek the Lord shall not want anygood thing.
Amen.

(08:13):
Let's stand for the reading ofour golden text, amos, chapter
number 8 and verse number 11,beloved.
The Bible says behold the dayscome, saith the Lord, god, that
I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a
thirst for water, but of hearingthe words of the Lord.

(08:36):
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank youso much for the opportunity to
be in your house, this placethat has been designated for
worship Lord, not justworshiping any God, but to
worship you, almighty God.
You are King of Kings and Lordof Lords, and we desire to

(08:57):
worship you In spirit and intruth, and I pray that you would
anoint this Thy servant Toguard up my mouth and help me to
say the things.
You would anoint this thyservant set a guard at my mouth
and help me to say the thingsyou would have me to say,
nothing more less.
And anoint the ears of this thypeople that they might hear
what the spirit of God says untothe church tonight.
Let the sayings go below theshoulders, let them saturate the

(09:21):
spirit, the mind, the soul, thebeing.
Don't let them just go in oneear and out the other.
God, I pray, help them to beable to hear the Word of God, to
be able to hear the Word of God.
There's no famine here, and forthat I thank you.
There's no famine here, and forthat I thank you and I praise
you In Jesus' name.

(09:42):
The church said Amen.
As you're being seated, say hey, neighbor, are you hungry?
Amen.
Our text is found in an OldTestament book of the Holy Bible
.
The book of Amos is comfortingto those who read it, especially
those who feel as though theyweren't born with a silver spoon

(10:03):
in their mouth.
After reading the writing ofthis wonderful man of God, amos,
brother Jacob, it has beenclear for me to see that he did
not live a life of luxury andease.
This man of God knew abouthardships and struggles.
I'm sure he was very wellacquainted with working hard on

(10:27):
a daily basis in order to obtainbasic necessities.
In this sacred writing of ninechapters there's some very
explicit information about thisman and his people.
In the first verse of hiswriting, he references his
occupation.

(10:47):
He worked amongst the herdmenof Tekoa.
He wasn't everyone's favoriteperson because of his spiritual
office.
However, I'm sure he was afavorite person to many because
of his natural or carnaloccupation, that being a

(11:08):
shepherd.
There is no doubt he providedmeat for those that were hungry,
for those that were searchingfor food.
This man provided a resourcethat was reliable and stable,
source that was reliable andstable.

(11:29):
There is no doubt whatsoever inmy mind that this man had a
burden for the common people.
As you read his writings, youwill see that he wants everyone
to know and understand clearlythat he isn't one of many in a
long line of prophets.
His family tree isn't leaningheavily due to many mighty and

(11:49):
noble men of God clinging to hisbranches.
In fact, when it came to hisvery own personal ministry, he
didn't feel it to be appropriateto wear the label and hold the
title of an oracle of God.
This man did not have falsehumility.

(12:10):
This man was a very humble andsincere individual, one that the
Lord had no problem whatsoevercalling into ministry.
The reason why the Lord calledthis man into ministry is
because the Lord knew he couldcommand this man in that calling

(12:33):
or in that ministry.
And so this man.
He was not looking for a label, nor was he looking for a title,
and he wasn't necessarilylooking for a spiritual office.
He had focused upon a naturaloffice and that was as working
as a shepherd and also a growerof sycamore fruit.

(12:57):
We find here in this book ofthe bible, brother tyler, that
this man had a major beef withthe rich and famous people of
Israel.
He is like our Lord.
Jesus he seems to have a problemwith those that are together in

(13:35):
the matter of worship during aservice was disinterested in
offering a pure blood sacrifice.
He wanted to offer a sacrificethat was polluted and tainted in
some way, and God was sorelydispleased with that offering.

(13:56):
But God was very pleased withAbel and during that service it
was evident to whoever was inattendance we know Cain and Abel
were certainly there, but itwas evident that God rejected
the offering of Cain and heaccepted the offering of Abel.
The end result was, in jealousyand in pride, cain took the

(14:19):
life of his brother Abel.
At the end of the day, cainlooked at God and Cain asked God
this question Am I my brother'skeeper?
We see it to be true today thatvery few people are selfless.
They're selfish, even preachersthat are preaching on a weekly

(14:42):
basis, sometimes multiple timesa week.
As you sit under that ministryyou can tell that it's all about
them.
It's about their pension, theirpaycheck, their parsonage.
It's all about them.
But you know Amos and ourSavior Jesus Christ, when they

(15:03):
ministered it was all about theFather and it was always about
the other person.
They were their brother'skeeper.
And so in these short ninechapters you'll find that the
prophet Amos.
He is very upset with the waythe rich and famous are treating

(15:25):
these other Israelites that areless fortunate.
In fact, the book itself, forthe most part, is strong
condemnation concerning theactions and the misdoings of
such people.
Only towards the very end ofthis book is there any offer of

(15:45):
comfort and consolation.
Some of the other biblicalwriters, like Isaiah and
Jeremiah.
They spent a lot of timetalking about the redemptive
power of God and God's earnestdesire to restore people that

(16:09):
have fallen away.
But you can tell that Amos heis so disgusted with these
people there's very few wordsconcerning it turning around.
I don't feel like Amos had avendetta against the rich and
the famous.
I don't feel like he woke upevery morning with a heart full

(16:30):
of bitterness.
I feel like he realized thatthese people were past, feeling
that these people's conscienceshad been seared and that they
had no love in their heartwhatsoever for their God or for
their brother.
It sounds like the conscienceof Cain, doesn't it?

(16:54):
And so we find that Amos, he'slike a Lord Jesus, and that he
showed a contentment to labor inthe fields of his own people,
as this Lord did.
Many years later, scriptureshows Amos being a voice for his
people.
Apparently, this shepherd andgrower of pigs enjoyed growing

(17:20):
and working amongst his ownpeople.
In fact, when it came to hisvery own personal ministry,
sister Howell spent countlesshours talking to people About
what was going to happen becauseof the spiritual famine that

(17:40):
was in the land.
As a shepherd and as a farmer, this prophet Amos he would have
known the importance of havingplenty of food for his people.
He would have looked around andrealized that it's true that
people become what they eat.
These people, like thedignitaries of the pagans, had

(18:05):
become fat and sassy.
They were rich and increasedwith goods.
It's a time of prosperity.
Seemingly, they need nothing, including the word of God.
It's like a lot of churchestoday.
They've only got about 20minutes for preaching and 30

(18:25):
minutes for singing, and webetter be out of there in an
hour, but there are peoplesitting on those pews.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
that are experiencing hunger pains.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
I let you know several days ago, god stirred me
as I was on my bed during thenight and he spoke to me
concerning tonight's service.
He said somebody will be thereand they're experiencing hunger
pains.
I'm going to preach tonight asermon, the Holy Ghost, titled

(19:00):
Hunger Pains.
It's not P-A-I-N-S, it's hungerpains P-A-N-G-S, but I want you
to know, along with hungerpains, there is pain.
It's a painful thing Forsomebody to sit In what's

(19:21):
supposed to be the ice of painand not even smell the bakers on
it Baking bread.
Thank you, peaceful gifts, thiswhole spiritual.

(19:42):
It's so special they don't evenneed to eat for the bread of
life.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
It's so special.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
One hour of time is too long.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
It's so crowded, it's just the only other things in
this world that ain't got timefor the bread of life.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
So, as a shepherd and , as a farmer, this prophet Amos
.
He knew these people have tohave bread and they have to have
fruit.
They have to have living water, they have to receive
nourishment.
My people will die for a lackof knowledge.
My people will perish formalnourishment.

(20:29):
Unbalanced, lopsided preachingwill cause saints to fall away.
If people follow blind leadersblindly, everybody will end up
in the ditch.
Wouldn't it be great ifsomebody received spiritual
sight tonight and realized I'mcalling a blind leader and I

(20:51):
don't want to end up in theditch.
Friend, I want you to know I'venever seen anybody plant a
garden in a ditch.
You know why?
Because the waste products endup in the ditch.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
I said anything, but food ends up in the ditch.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
And if your food's in the ditch, you don't want it
anyway, I'm calling us heretonight.
I'm preaching to somebody that'sexperiencing hunger and pain.
At some point this natural andspiritual provider became
disgusted with the way some ofthe Israelites were treating

(21:35):
their less fortunate brothersand sisters.
When he looked around, he saw aselfish people.
Not a selfless people, butselfish people sistering people
who were not at all concernedabout the overall well-being of
their fellow brothers andsisters.

(21:55):
Now I don't know about you all,but the Bible said a wise man,
he looketh well to the state ofhis furthest flocks.
And you know, as a leader, as aspiritual leader, I will look
to see if somebody's getting alittle read around the jar bowl.

(22:17):
If somebody's getting a littlehorridness around the eyes, then
it's my priority myresponsibility my prerogative,
my objective to make sure thatwhenever they get their beating
they look like real fatty catsof a stall.
I'm telling us here and nowthere is never a good reason at

(22:42):
all for any child of God to say.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
I'm hungry.
If you're hungry, then there'sa problem with the Father.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
He is a problem with the Father.
It's not that the Word of Godwas not available, it's not that
a prophet was not available.
This man who considered himselfnot worthy I'm unworthy he
would have thought to do whatGod needs me to do, but I'm
willing.
I'm willing to feed thesepeople spiritually.

(23:19):
And brother Nathaniel, herealized that some churches are
just going to do like those whostole Stephen would do.
They're going to take theirindex finger on their left hand
and they're going to take theirindex finger on their left hand
and they're going to stick it intheir ear and get it in there
real tight and good.
Then they're going to taketheir index finger on their

(23:41):
right hand and stick it in therereal tight and good, and
they're going to say you can saywhatever you want to say, you
can preach whatever you want topreach.
You can say the self-card, youcan preach whatever you want to
preach.
You can say the same with God.
You can get an edit, but we arenot going to hear.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
We don't want to hear .
And if you're not going to hear, then you're not going to heed.

Speaker 8 (24:06):
And that's what Amos was saying In this situation.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
God's not going to around because they weren't
turned around.
Come on now if you've got tohave revival, the leadership and
the loyalty of the Lord for me.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
This great man of God certainly believed that revival
was possible, but you'll findhe understood it's highly
unlikely.
Until these selfish peoplebecome selfless.
Amos refused to overlook thisgross situation.
The carelessness of theseprospering Israelites and their

(24:53):
nation being on a collisioncourse with disaster, amos was
not going to just sit there anddie.
Do you remember the case of thevery sick individuals, were
they lepers, that were sittingoutside the gate of a city that
had been overthrown, an armythat had been defeated?

(25:15):
The men said how?

Speaker 2 (25:21):
can I sit here in a condition like this until I die?
In fact, he said you're goingto die.
There's a reason for it.
Come to paint.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
And when you're experiencing it come to paint.

Speaker 8 (25:31):
You're only a few days Come to paint.

Speaker 5 (25:33):
I said you're only hunger and pain.

Speaker 8 (25:34):
You're only a few days from being dead.
I said it You're only a fewdays from being dead.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
God gave us these involuntary muscles and organs
that do what they're supposed todo, naturally, because Almighty
God said so.
And the same thing can be saidabout the empty stomach.
When it is empty, you willexperience symptoms that can

(26:06):
only be satisfied with bread, come on, or something to eat.
And this man knew these peopleare being preached to.
They've heard some of thefinest preaching over the years,
but Amos wasn't going to remainsilent.
He spoke up and attempted to dosomething.

(26:27):
And can I tell you, if you'renot a preacher, sometimes the
only thing you can do is putyour foot on a brake pedal, grab
a hold of a shifter and put itin drive, and drive past the
breakfast bakery and gosomewhere where death is really
nothing.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
I'm going to help to the spiritual virtue.
I expect enemy matter fromheaven.
I should expect enemy matterfrom heaven, not every once in a
while, not during a spiritualrevival, but every single
service.
I expect enemy matter to fallout of heaven.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
In the first three verses of the eighth chapter of
Amos, we read of the end of theprosperity of Israel.
Brother Ashley Gensley got bywith it for a while, but
judgment came.
Some of these churches.
They are rich and increased forgoods.
All that matters is how manylogs they're getting on Facebook

(27:37):
.
All that matters is how manyfollowers they've got on
Facebook and how many broadcaststhat they've got.
Come on, that's all thatmatters.
The anointing has been tradedfor Advertisement.
Oh, come on.
The energy of the Holy Ghosthas been substituted with a

(27:58):
silly substitute calledentertainment.
In these first three verses ofthe eighth chapter we find Amos
talking about the end of theirprosperity.
It's represented by a basket ofsummer fruit.
But if we know what that means, the time was up, as the rapid

(28:19):
summer fruit would last long.
Neither would they if theydidn't change the situation.
And friends, if there isn'tfruit available on a weekly
basis, if there isn't fruitavailable on a weekly basis,
then it's not too long beforethe ripe and fruit more should
the rotten fruit.
Oh, come on.

(28:40):
Now I'm telling you.
There should be a regularoccurrence and instances of
fruit.
And if it's ripe and it'll berotten before too long.
It's got to be regular freshbread, regular fresh fruit is
rotten fruit.

(29:08):
I've seen it before.
They expect us to sit there andenjoy them, buying ripe
tomatoes, and we do.
But we know, boys, if you don'tgo out there and plant some
seed and tend to some plants andbring forth some more big boys,
beefy boys and all these othertypes of tomatoes, all we're

(29:30):
going to end up is rottentomatoes in hand, A couple of
ripe and fruit.
Brother Jonathan, you know alittle bit about chickens and
you know that at a chicken housethey don't have a very long
lifespan.
You know why that is Becausesomebody is going to eat it.

(29:51):
And, preacher, I'm sick andtired of hearing your rewrites
and you're literally not goingto make a mess.
You preach year after yearafter year after year.
Somebody breaks the press foryou.

Speaker 8 (30:09):
Somebody breaks the press for you this rap and pruta
is about to be rotten.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
I'm sick of when I hear them talk about Smith
Wigglesworth, this, john GWright, this Charles Spurgeon,
this, that was great paper thatday, but what about this day?

Speaker 6 (30:32):
Tell me what they say of God and what they say of
John G Lake hunger pains.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
I love the writings of John G Lake.
I enjoy the writings of CharlesSpurgeon.
I enjoy the writings of MatthewHenry probably my favorite.
I enjoy the writings of BrotherJohn Wesley and Brother Charles
Spurgeon.
But when it comes to matter formy soul, there is nothing like
sitting in a recliner grabbing awarm cup of coffee and holding

(31:08):
that blessed book in the lap andreading.
Did y'all hear what SisterHannah said two and a half weeks
ago?
She said I got in five chaptersdeep and I'm learning more.
I say tonight bread of heaven, feed me till I'm no longer
anymore, so Amos presents thisbasket Of summer fruit, fresh

(31:39):
fruit, roughing fruit but it'sabout to be rotten and God's
telling them your end is up.
That church is about to closeits doors.
There's no anointing there.
There's nothing new under thesun, the wise man said.
The biblical writer said Arey'all listening to me right here
?
There's nothing new under thesun.

(32:03):
Do y'all remember whenever therewas a certain group of people
that had the Spirit of God?
They harbored it.
It helped them when they didright.
It hurt them when they didwrong and they let the Spirit of
God lead the building.
And those that were hungry, those that needed more?
Eli was fat naturally.

(32:23):
He was sassy naturally, butspiritually he was hungry.
And when he heard that theSpirit had left, the Bible said
he fell over backwards and brokehis neck.
That was a high priest, folks.
I said that was a high priestand a person, no matter how
saved, strengthened of God andHoly Ghost spirit, they will die

(32:46):
in a house where there's nobread.

Speaker 6 (32:49):
They will die in a house where there's no ark of
the covenant.
They will die in a house wherethere's no spirit.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
For his words are spirit and they are life.
If you feel like it's dead anddry, it's not His words being
promoted.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
Friends, if there isn't any fresh fruit available
on a weekly basis, then it's nottoo long before the ripened
fruit becomes rotten fruit.
Who enjoys eating as much as meand Brother Chip or Roy?
Just about everybody in thishouse.
If you don't enjoy eating, Iguarantee you you eat enough to
stay alive.

(33:31):
All of us in this building, weeat enough to stay alive.
Notice our golden text, 8 and11 of Amos.
Behold the days come.
Saith the Lord, god that I willsend a famine in the land, not
a famine of bread, nor a thirstof water, but of hearing the

(33:52):
words of the Lord.
Are y'all listening to me?
There's churches on everystreet corner.
There's false prophets on everyhead.
Even at this time, during thedays of Amos, even in this time,
it ain't that Christiantelevision isn't present, so
call Christian television.
It ain't that preachers aren'tpreaching Instead of hearing the

(34:15):
words of the Lord.
You know why God stopped movingthere?
Because when God did speak, nobody wanted to hear it.
That's the same thing with Eli.
God had to speak the same waythe young man, because God had
tried to speak to Eli and Eli'ssons, but they did not want to

(34:37):
hear what the Spirit says overthe churches.
The truth is sometimes, whenthere's bread, there's going to
be pain.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
I said the truth is sometimes the Word of God, which
is quick and powerful.

Speaker 5 (34:52):
It will dissolve things that need to be done away
with in order to make room forthe bread.
It wasn't Amos that sent thefamine, it wasn't a church
deacon, it wasn't somebody oflaity, it wasn't the mayor of

(35:13):
the town or the king of Israel.
The Lord sent the famine.
How many of you have ever beenin a house of worship, a place
that called itself the house ofGod?
On their marquee it might havesaid assembly of God, holiness,
house of God, first church ofGod, baptist house of God.
On the marquee it claimed to behouse of God.

(35:36):
Nobody's going to take a can oforange spray paint and graffiti
that marquee or sign and writeIchabod on it.
But I can tell you this in thespiritual realm how do you know,
by divine assignment, that oneof them, angela Beans, hasn't
already taken a finger andscribed Ichabod on the marquee?

(35:58):
Oh, come on now, nats, when thedevil comes in with seven
others.
He finds the devil comes inwith seven others.
He finds the house swept indarkness and says they're
looking for a tongue, they'relooking for a shout, they're
looking for something.
I'm going to give themcounterfeit bread.
I'm going to give them fakebread.
I'm going to give them a fakeexperience.

(36:18):
I'm going to give them acounterfeit food for pride.
You better get out of therebefore the counterfeit comes.

Speaker 6 (36:27):
You better get out of there before the counterfeit
comes.

Speaker 5 (36:37):
The Bible said a little leaven leavened, the
whole lump.
All it takes is one preacher totransform himself into an angel
like a messenger and to slide atoxic leaven into the bed that
he is feeding these people andin time the entire lump and lump

(36:57):
is corrupted.
They've got to the place now, pentecostal churches where they
are now saying I don't believethe speaking of other tongues is
the initial evidence.
I don't believe that that'srelevant to the church today.
I don't believe that healing isfor this generation.

(37:19):
That's called cessationist.
Cessationist.
They believe that after theapostles left and went up to
glory, that there was no longerhealings available.
That is a lie from the pits ofhell.
You know what happens when theyget done parenting John G Lake
and they're not able to have themiracles that John G Lake did.

(37:41):
He had the miracles because menlike him and William Seymour
they prize sanctification andseparation.
You know what happens when theydon't get the results.
It's some of their heroes thatthey're emulating and parodying
and copycatting.
They go counterfeit.
Oh, come on now they're justlike the false prophets of

(38:04):
Jezebel you're willing to haveconferences, you're willing to
have commissions, you're willingto have UKs, you're willing to
go all day long.
Preacher after preacher, theygot a form of godliness but
where's the power?

Speaker 3 (38:19):
where's the power?
Where's the sign of power?
Where's the picture of that's?

Speaker 2 (38:22):
the pain.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
Where's the sign fire ?
Where's the picture lack?

Speaker 2 (38:24):
of.

Speaker 5 (38:25):
I'm going to hear the lack of.

Speaker 6 (38:27):
There's a reason for those on their page.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
I thank God tonight that my soul is well fed by His
Word and by these great preacher, brethren of Bethel.
I don't know how many of themthere are About 14 of them,
probably, plus If you count theones that's overseas, maybe more
.
And you know what, brotherRocaf?

(38:55):
Every single service we hearfrom three of them.
My soul feasted tonight, oh,what Brother Samuel said.
My soul feasted tonight on whatBrother Samuel said.
My soul feasted tonight on whatBrother Nathaniel said.
I still feasted on what BrotherCaleb said about a week and a
half ago.
Brother Caleb said I got rootedand grounded when I prayed it

(39:20):
through that this holiness wayis my lifestyle, this is my life
and I'm going to be condemnedas a man of God.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
I'm still preaching on the preacher's words, because
God is fire.

Speaker 5 (39:40):
Hunger pains.
Verse number 10,.
The verse before our goldentext tells us that the Lord
calls their feasting to cease.
The party's over Belshazzarwould know something about that.
The party's over Darius wouldknow something about that.

(40:00):
Verse number 12, tell us thatwhoever they go to will be able
to provide nourishment andsatisfaction.
Sister Wooten has said in versenumber 12 that no matter where
they go, they will be unable tofind nourishment and
satisfaction.

(40:20):
I'm glad that about 10 years ago, Sister Helen and I said you
know what, If we need to, we'regoing to move to LaBelle.
But you know before that, 18years ago, we said, if it's
going to come to this, to getfood for our boys and our
daughters sold five boys and onedaughter we're going to drive
two hours each way.

(40:41):
And we did that for six years,Sometimes two, three, five, six
times a week.
Two hours each way.
That's when diesel fuel was $5a gallon.
It cost us to come to church.
Oh, come on now.
I don't believe in cheesy, greasy or cheap grace.
I do believe that sometimes, inorder to eat a premium entree,

(41:05):
you're going to have to pay apremium.
Come on now.
As if you just got the realHoly Ghost.
You've only been coming easy.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
It ain't a greasy Holy Ghost, it ain't a cheesy,
it ain't a cheesy Holy Ghost.

Speaker 5 (41:19):
It costs you something you don't want to eat
it.
When it costs you something youbuy you a door, you treasure it
better.

Speaker 6 (41:28):
Oh, come on now.

Speaker 5 (41:31):
I remember I was around the age of 31 years old
when I first started feelingthis spiritual hunger pain.

Speaker 6 (41:40):
I told Sister.

Speaker 5 (41:41):
Hal, I said I don't know what's going on, but my
soul, my entire being, is hungry, hungry.
How many in this building arefamiliar with hunger pains?
You skip a meal or two and yourbodily response to that empty

(42:02):
stomach is hunger pains.
You skip a meal or two and yourbodily response to that empty
stomach is hunger pains.
Before I come down here topastor, before 18 years ago I
had the boys and my daughter andmy wife on the lake, sometimes
two to three times a week I'mbeing honest concerning that and
I was not one to eat too muchwhile I fished.

(42:23):
And on the way to the fishinghole, sister Ruth and I stopped
by the McDonald's there in FortMeade, florida, and get a couple
of cheap cheeseburgers and feedthem.
I said this is a supplementuntil we eat the meal after
we've caught the fish.
And the Four Seasons restaurantwas over there near Crossbrook.
I love to eat the Four Seasonsrestaurant that was over there
near Crossbrook.
I love to eat at Four Seasons.

(42:45):
And so I would make us wait andI'd say I'll give you a little
bit to hold you over.
Oh, come on now.
That's just how.
After about three hours she'dsay Jeremy, are you getting
hungry?
I'd say not yet, not so hungrythat I need to stop fishing.
After about five hours she'dpat her belly and say that

(43:06):
cheeseburger's gone.
How many of you have a kid?
Remember your mama saying thatAll of her life she has told me
when she's hungry that biscuit'sgone.
Oh, come on now.
I want you to know.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
It's okay for you to realize somebody's been serving
you, some strong man.
Somebody's been serving you,little person.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
It's okay for you to tell that preacher you're not
just one dog, it's one dog.

Speaker 6 (43:38):
It's one person.
It's one person.
It's one person.
It's one person.
It's one person.
It's one person.
It's one person.
It's long past satisfied.
It's long past satisfied.
It's long past satisfied.
That sermon you preached tentimes is long gone.

Speaker 5 (44:06):
I'm not going to sit here and die.
I don't have to feel hunger, pain and death.

Speaker 6 (44:08):
Lately I don't have to sit here and die.
I said I don't have to sit hereand die Preacher, so all those
sermons, those re-write sermons.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
They are as sustaining as cotton candy.
They're as appetizing andsatisfying to us as a garden
salad used to a hungry lion.
May that preacher let you askthat question why am I so hungry

(44:49):
?
Why do I have such an appetite?
Why am I not satisfied?
He knows he's trying to feed alion's cub.
A golden side.
Yes, some of us, we know whatgood anointed preaching is, and
better our young men are highlyanointed.

Speaker 6 (45:07):
Oh, come on now.

Speaker 5 (45:09):
The men I was raised under in that old church of God.
They told us what goodpreaching is.
Don't shove a bottle in mymouth and make me say it's a
longhorn steak.
Don't shove a squirrel storynothing about Zacchaeus, brother

(45:30):
Chip.
Don't shove a rabbit story downmy gullet and tell me that's
like a lamb, sweet lamb of God.
Can I preach just a littlelonger before we go to the house
?
I said that garden salad hasgot satisfying to a lion's cub.
In Psalm chapter number 34 andverse number 10, the psalmist

(45:53):
said the young lions do lack andsuffer hunger, but they that
seek the Lord shall not want anygood thing.
I'll seek my way right out ofthat thing.
I'll seek my way right out ofthat church.
I'll seek my way right out ofwhere there's crumbs on the
floor and find out all you caneat buffet Come on.

(46:14):
The young lives do lack a supperhunger, but that secret of the
truth that secret of the Lord, that secret of my child, will
not lack any good thing.
Are you getting it?

Speaker 2 (46:24):
That's why you're here Because, just for a secret,
you don't like anything.

Speaker 5 (46:35):
Jesus is the ancient, no, the ageless lion of Judah.
His lion cubs will find foodone way or another.
I said I'm a lion, cub of thelion of Judah.

Speaker 6 (46:54):
And the lions of this world may be with.

Speaker 5 (46:57):
I but the lion of Judah and his offspring they
will never suffer and be with I.
You know why?
Because Jesus understands thesehunger pains.
We're here today because someelders down in this area they

(47:18):
prayed for years.
God, we need somebody to comebe our pastor.
God, we need somebody to comebe our pastor.
God, we need somebody to feedus spiritually.
When I got here, there wasabout four to six of them.
Are you all listening to me?
Now there's 80.
And people say, well, that'seasy to have church where
there's 80.
Let me take you back 18 yearsago.

(47:38):
Let me take you back 15 yearsago.
Sister Vicki, you're here.
You would remember thestorefront 12 years ago.
Let me take you back 15 yearsago, Sister Vicki, you're here.
You would remember thestorefront 12 years ago.
There was only 30 or 40 of usin there.
We had church.
I want y'all to know theselittle lion cubs of God.
We didn't have hunger pains verymuch over there in the
storefront and when we grow intothat big sanctuary that God's

(47:59):
got for us, we're coming down.
We ain't going to be eatinggarden salads.
I said we're not going to beeating cotton candy.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
We're not going to be eating sugar cookies.
We're going to be eating thebread of God Jesus understands
these hunger pains.

Speaker 5 (48:18):
In Mark's Gospel, john Mark wrote in the 11th
chapter, in the 12th verse, andwe read it, concerning Jesus.
And on the morrow, when theywere come from Bethany, he was
hungry.
Jesus was hungry as a God-man,100% God and 100% man at the

(48:39):
same time.
God incarnate, that man insideof God, was hungry and he looked
at a fig tree and in context,to kind of move on here, the
reason why Jesus cursed that figtree, brother Jim, for that fig
tree represented kind of likethe basket of summer fruit, so

(48:59):
much it represented the scribesand the pharisees looked apart.
They had the church, they hadthe religious duties, functions,
activities, but they had deniedthe power of god.
And so, sister howell, when hecame, he noticed that that big
tree was promising fruit.
That big tree was promisingfruit.

(49:21):
Are y'all with me?
That big tree was promisingfruit.
It had the leaves on it, it hadthe sprigs, but upon closer
observation there was no fruiton it.
And so when Jesus pulled backthe leaves it should have had
fruit, but for some reason itwas fruitless.
Do y'all know?

(49:42):
It's okay with me when somebodyshows up here and they say I'm
sick and tired of finding achurch that promised fruit.

Speaker 6 (49:52):
But I need more than spread you better give me some
beds.

Speaker 5 (50:00):
Jesus' indictment and curse to the big tree was
because it promised something itdid not have.
When I put my blinker on and Ipulled into a church tri-play, I
expect the Spirit of God to bethere.
I expect the preacher to havepaid in basket till God gives us
something to eat.

(50:20):
That tree was cursed by theroad cap, but you know what
Jesus he's going to see to itthat His offspring doesn't lack
and perish for hunger.
Even the prodigal son knows inthe father's house there's bread
enough in the spare.
Come go with me.

(50:40):
Come go with me, You'll findout.
There's enough bread for 10,000, if they just come, Because the
multiplier's there, Because theprovider's there.
Oh, come on now.
Hebrews 4, 14 and 15,.
Seeing then that we have agreat high priest that is passed
unto the heavens, Jesus the Sonof God, let us hold fast our

(51:02):
profession Verse number 15, Forwe have not a high priest which
cannot be touched with thefeeling of our infirmities but
was in all points tempted, likeas we are, yet without sin.
First, let me say when a personis starving spiritually, it's
easy for them to eat anything.
Starving spiritually, it's easyfor them to eat anything, and

(51:24):
it's easy for them to think noone understands what they're
going through.
I've seen the look in some ofyour eyes when you got here and
you thought surely nobody wouldknow how to feed you, that
nobody would want to feed you.
But it didn't take long untilyou realized it's our pleasure
to feed you, to feed you.
But it didn't take long whenyou realized it's our pleasure
to feed you.

(51:44):
So the Lord and Amos knew whatwas happening to those that were
less fortunate, the ones wholived in Amos' time Sister
Howell, Amos was a shepherd anda provider of fruit those that
lived in Jesus' time, the sick, the blind, the withered, the

(52:08):
poor.
They had the gospel preached tothem, Brother Rokap.
He didn't look to go intoCaiaphas' house, Pilate's palace
.
He wanted to minister to thosethat needed it.
They that are whole need not aphysician for they that are sick
.
You know why you're hungryBecause you haven't been fed.
You know why you'reexperiencing hunger pains

(52:30):
Because you're malnourished.
But you know what?
I can already see yourecovering strength and all
you've had is the appetizer,Hallelujah.
You remember when Saul, hecharged his young men, including
his own son, a valiant warrior.
He said don't you eat anything?

(52:52):
And Jonathan knew that chargeis too severe.
The men are going to befamished, malnourished and
they're going to fall into thehands of the enemy.
And Jonathan took his sword anddipped it in the honey.
And then they call you and sayI hear you've been going to that
preacher's church.
I got to dip my sword in somehoney.

(53:13):
That's like.
That good brother fromCalifornia, they told me, said
he's been listening.
He said I'm an executive, ahigh level, upper level
executive, for a share of somekind of company out in
California.
He said I've been listening toyou for about a year and a half,
I believe.
He said sometime now.
He said I've been listening toyour messages.

(53:34):
He said I go to a church of Godthat is very worldly and he
said I'm the only holinessperson there and I'm surviving
on your sermons, Brother BillHouston's sermons and Brother
Benny Sutherland's sermons andBrother Chip Roy, he told me.
He said we have a sistercompany in Miami.
I didn't put words in his mouthbut he said I hope to see y'all

(53:56):
very soon.
Wouldn't it be an indictment tothat pastor of that world, the
church, to corner him and say Iheard you've been listening to
them, holiness, preachers,preach.
You've been tuning into thatpodcast and listening online.
I'm upset because you dippedyour sword in some honey when,

(54:16):
when you walked in, your eyeswere lit up.
Come tomorrow morning, youreyes are going to be glowing.

Speaker 9 (54:23):
Come tomorrow morning , you're going to say I tasted
of love and, just like I alwaysthought, he still is good.

Speaker 6 (54:31):
As he said, with me, come over and face him and
you'll know him and see that heis good, he's good like this
every time Amen.

Speaker 5 (54:48):
Should I keep preaching or should we go to the
house?
I'm not going to be content toeat whatever's thrown my way.
You can settle for the bone, but I'll take the rib.
You can settle for thetrimmings of fat left on the
table, but I'll take theporterhouse baby, come on now.

(55:08):
The Lord in Amos knew what washappening to those less
fortunate.
Do you hear me?
And I'm going to tell you.
About a week ago, god dealt withme and this has been eating me
up.
I told Sister Hal.
I said I don't know how I canpreach.
She's never known what I'mgoing to preach In 18 years.
I've never told her what I'mpreaching on and never told her

(55:30):
a title.
How about Sister Hal?
Never.
And I didn't tell her.
Tonight I said, honey, I'vebeen preferring my brothers for
about two and a half weeks now.
I'm not a bull pit hog.
Oh, brother Chip, you preach.
Great too, by the way.
And I said but I've got so muchinside I don't know how I can
preach all of it in less than anhour and 15 minutes.
And y'all are telling me tokeep preaching.

(55:51):
I'm not going to just sit therein starvation mode and gulp
down anything and everything.
Somebody ain't going to feed mehog slop and tell me it's soup
out of the Father's house.
Somebody's not going to toss mecorn husk and tell me that it's
bread out of Mama's house.
I can tell the difference.

(56:15):
A sweet sister years ago thatattended our church over there
at the storefront.
She had went off to some campmeetings and she had heard some
preachers preach and she'd comeback and she said well, I went
looking for something just youknow, just something different.
She said I'm satisfied with ourchurch, I'm satisfied with your
preaching.
She said I just wanted to goout and see my brothers and

(56:37):
sisters.
And she said you know, I'vejust never been to a camp
meeting.
I've heard you talk about it.
I just wanted to go experienceit.
And she said I'm glad to behome.
She said you can tell thedifference.
She said you can tell thedifference in the atmosphere
because of the anointing.
You can tell who's warming up asermon book.
You can tell who's reading offan outline.

(56:57):
This girl hadn't even beensaved, but about a year and a
half, two years.
And she said but I know to tellthe difference.
Come on, I can taste thedifference between mama's baked
ham on Christmas morning andwhat comes out of a spam can.
Amen, ha, ha, ha ha ha.
They like to do right.
Amen, ha, ha, ha, ha ha.
They like to do right.
Sweet Lamb of God.

(57:20):
I want to stay sweet right here, right now.
Brother Jeremiah Amos and theLord.
They saw what their peopleneeded and I have seen it and I
have felt it.
All I can say is the gate'sopen, there's green pastures,
there's a still water source.
Jesus empathizes with thosethat are here tonight

(57:43):
experiencing hunger pains.
He knows, he knew what it wasto feel hungry.
He knew what it was toexperience thirst.
Jesus knows about all the needsof the people of humanity.
Let's stand tonight.
Jesus knows about all the needsof the people of humanity.
Let's stand tonight.
Jesus knows and Jesusunderstands exactly what you are
feeling and what you arethinking, and Jesus knows why

(58:06):
you're here and what I want totell you before you go.
Come and dine.
Come and dine at His table InJohn, chapter number 6 and verse
number 35.
And Jesus said unto them I amthe bread of life.
And here's what I felt like.
The Lord spoke in my heart saysto Janet Hill I love it and I

(58:28):
don't want to ever forget it.
He said my lion cubs never lacknor do without.
Amen, brother Caleb, would youcome to the piano tonight,

(58:48):
brother?
God was letting them know thatthere would come a time when His
Word would be absent from theirlives because people had
allowed their ears to becomedull of hearing Brother Richard
Jacob to be without food andstarving to death is a horrible
thing, and so, with a burden, Iopen the altar.

(59:12):
For any brother or sister, friend in Christ, family member,
anybody here, any visitor, witha burden and love for my heart,
I open the altar and say comeand die.
Jesus is going to reach youaround here tonight.
Some have resisted hearing God'sword, but there's people in

(59:34):
this building tonight.
You're not resisting, I cantell you have that.
Look in your eyes.
You're hungry.
You're thankful to hear God'swords.
You're thankful that God's wordcame to you.
In the case of Amos' people, they rebelled against Scripture

(59:56):
and God could no longer send it.
You know why it dries up.
You know why there's a faminein various places throughout
time.
Do you know why?
That is Because they rebelledagainst Scripture.
And then God sees no need tosend the seed of the rain.
And then God sees no need tosend the seed of the rain.

(01:00:21):
If you feel led to pray withsomebody tonight, would you pray
with them?
If you feel impressed of theLord to be your brother's keeper
and to help them bear theirburden and to help usher them to
the storehouse where they canreceive manna for their soul,
which you turned to them tonightBread of heaven, feed me till I

(01:00:48):
want no more.
Somebody came to church tonightexperiencing hunger and pain.

Speaker 8 (01:01:09):
What would I do without Jesus, the shepherd of
my love?
I couldn't make it withoutJesus.
What would I do?

(01:01:29):
And when I need someone to talkto, I need someone to talk to.
He's always there to listen.
With all his hope around me, herocks me in his bosom.
What would I do without Jesus, the shepherd of my life?

(01:01:57):
I couldn't make it Without you,jesus.
What would I do?
What would I do Without Jesus, the shepherd of my valley, lord?

(01:02:21):
I just couldn't walk this roadalone.
When I'm hungry, he feeds me.
When I'm thirsty, he's my water.
He feeds me.
When I'm thirsty, my water.
I couldn't make it without you,jesus.

(01:02:45):
What would I do?
Wondering if I need someone totalk to.
He's always there to listen, with arms cold and round me, he
rocks me in his bosom.

(01:03:07):
What would I do without Jesus, the shepherd of my body?
I couldn't make it without you,jesus.
What would I do?
Like a river, and my burdensAre high as mountains and the

(01:03:39):
ones I counted on have let medown.
That's when I go To Jesus.
He's the one that I can counton.
I couldn't make it without you,jesus.

(01:04:02):
What would I do?
And when I need someone to talkto.
He's always there to listen.
With arms holding round me, herocks me in His bosom.

(01:04:27):
What would I do without Jesus, the shepherd of my body?
I couldn't make it.
Without you, jesus, what wouldI do?
What would I do without Jesus, the shepherd of my valley?

(01:04:58):
Lord, I just couldn't walk thisroad alone.
When I'm hungry, he bakes me.
When I'm thirsty, he's my water.
Oh, I couldn't make it Withoutyou, jesus, what would I need?

(01:05:25):
Oh, when I need Someone to talkto, he's always there to listen
.
We all know that around me, herocks me in his bosom.

(01:05:48):
What would I do without Jesus, the shepherd of my life?
I'm turning making.
Without you, jesus, what good Ido?
Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen,
amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen.

Speaker 6 (01:06:08):
Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen,
amen, amen Amen.

Speaker 9 (01:06:36):
Amen.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
