That's an important thing tohear from God, right?
That's pretty weak.
I said.
It's an important thing to hearfrom God, right, amen, it's a
very important thing.

willing.
Verse 1,.
For so he giveth his belovedsleep, lo.
Children are an heritage of theLord, and the fruit of the womb
is his reward.
As arrows in the hand of amighty man, so are children of
the youth.
Happy is the man that hath hisquiver full of them.
(02:59):
They shall not be ashamed, butthey shall speak with the
enemies In the gate.

children.

Let signs follow your Word.
God, tonight, god and I pray,do a miraculous thing in this
altar.

Let signs follow your word.
I pray Through a demonstrationof the Holy Ghost tonight in
this house.
Would you lift your hand andthank God for what he's going to
do in your life?
Thank him, say Lord, I thankyou for what you're going to do
in my life and in my family Inthis service tonight.
Praise him for that, amen, believe him for that, trust him
(04:28):
for that amen.
Look to him and expect it thatgod is going to do something in
your life and in your home, right here tonight.
Praise god, praise god.
God bless you as you're seatedtonight, amen.
Psalm 127 is known as thebuilder's psalm.
(04:48):
Amen, accept the Lord, buildthe house.
We need to recognize here thatthe word house is not in the Old
Testament, most especially isnot always speaking of a
physical structure, is notalways speaking of a physical
structure, and in this Scriptureit is not necessarily meaning a
physical structure.
(05:09):
But the word house oftentimesin the Old Testament it meant a
family, it meant a household andit meant a father, a mother and
their children.
In Genesis 7, verse 1, youremember where the Scripture
said the Lord said to Noah Come, thou and all thy house into the
(05:31):
ark, and he certainly wasn'tspeaking to him about his tent,
but he was talking about hiswife and his children, all of
his house.
So accept the Lord, build thehouse, amen.
There's many implications inthis scripture tonight.
Number one I'd like to pointout that the scripture tells us
(05:52):
that a house must be built, afamily must be built, amen.
It is not something that justhappens, praise God.
It is not just something thatcomes out of nowhere, but a
house, a family, must be built.
It is also implied by that thatsomeone must build the house.
(06:16):
If a house is to be built, there must be a builder, amen.
The scripture bears out to usthat it is very important who
builds our house, amen.
I said it's important whobuilds our house, praise God.
Except the Lord, build thehouse, amen.
(06:38):
It goes on to tell us those thatdo not allow the Lord to build
the house are building theirhouse in vain.
They may rise up early, theymay sit up late, they may put
all of their mind, heart, energyand effort into it, but it is
vain for a person to sit up lateand try to build their house
(07:00):
without God, their house withoutGod.
It is vain for an individual Torise up early and try to build
their family or their housewithout God.
And so he said To eat the breadof sorrows.
Those that rise up early oreven sit up late With the desire
of building their home, theirhouse, their household, their
(07:23):
own way, without the Lord, aregoing to eat the bread of
sorrows.
It's not going to work, amen.
But then it said but then, sohe giveth His beloved sleep, and
so those that allow the Lord tobuild their house, they can
rest easy because God is doingthe work.
(07:45):
Praise god, and he gives hisbeloved to sleep.
I want you to know that in thisscripture that we see here, it's
implied that building a houseinvolves children.
Three of the five of thesescriptures that we read tonight
imply or speak about children.
Children are an heritage, thefruit of the womb is his reward,
(08:09):
and happy is the man that hathhis quiver full of them.
And so these verses relate tous that in the building of a
family, in the building of ahouse or a household, children
are essential unto that building.
In the Hebrew, the word son isben, b-e-n, and it means a
(08:33):
builder of the family.
The word daughter is bath, andit is the feminine of the word
ben.
So the word for daughter meansa female builder of the family.
The word house in the Hebrew isbeeth and it means a man to
build.
All of those come from the wordbena, which means to build,
(08:58):
praise God.
So the whole concept of a homeor a house, there is a building
that is involved in thathousehold.
Amen, except the Lord, buildthe house.
It's very important for us tosee something in this little
(09:18):
psalm of five verses that wehave before us here tonight Amen
.
The heading says A Song ofDegrees for Solomon, but
actually it was written bySolomon.
Amen.
This psalm is really a psalm of.
You know most of the psalms ofDavid and Asaph and others.
(09:40):
Many of them are psalms of joyand victory and happiness and
looking to the Lord.
But this is a psalm of hispersonal experience and so it is
a song of his abject failure.
It is a song of his regret andof his remorse.
(10:00):
Solomon, though he was thewisest man that ever lived, he
did some very stupid things, isn't that right?
Oh, I'm glad we've got thestory of solomon in the bible,
not only of the glory of hiskingdom, but when you look into
proverbs and ecclesiastes andthe end of his kingdom, then you
(10:21):
see of the mistakes that this, this man, made and this song is
is really brothers, probably oneof the first blues songs that
was ever written amen, amen.
It is the blues.
He is crying and lamenting, amen, things that he learned in
life, his own personalexperience Amen.
(10:43):
He tried to build his house, amen, though he had the wisdom
of God like no other man wouldever have, solomon decided to
build his house against thewisdom of God.
He tried to build his house inhis own thoughts and his own
ideas and in his own way, amen, and it failed him.
(11:09):
Amen, it matters who buildsyour house, amen, amen.
You think of solomon.
We know, amen, that thescripture made it very clear and
very plain that that we were tobe the husband of one wife,
that God made Adam and God madeEve and God gave specific
(11:31):
commandments to the kings thatthey were to have one wife and
that was to be the wife of thedaughters of Israel.
Amen.
But we that solomon done thingshis own way.
He built his house as he wantedto build his house, amen.
We find him.
Not only did he not just marryone of the women of the children
(11:56):
of israel, but he marriedheathen women, he married
idolatrous women, he marriedwomen, and then he built temples
for the gods that they servedand that they worshipped Amen.
Not only did he marry ungodlywomen, but he married multiple
(12:16):
women and the Bible said hemarried 700 wives and then had
300 concubines, amen.
When God said you should onlyhave one, amen.
And she should be bone of yourbone and flesh of your flesh,
amen, you should only have one.
He decided to build his houselike he thought was best to
(12:40):
build it and he went completelyopposite of the wisdom of God
and the commandment of God andthe understanding of God and he
married multiple women, amen.
1 Kings 11 tells us of how heloved many strange women.
He married those women, builtthose temples for them, and then
(13:04):
the Bible said he claimedclayed to them in love, amen.
And his wives turned away hisheart.
And the Scripture, verse 9, saidand the Lord was angry with
Solomon because his heart wasturned away from the Lord, god
(13:24):
of Israel, which had appearedunto him.
And the Lord said because thisis done of thee, thou hast not
kept my covenant and my statutes.
I will surely rend the kingdomfrom thee and will give it to
thy servant, amen.
Solomon decided to build hishouse in his own thoughts, in
(13:46):
his own wisdom, in his own way, against the commandments of God.
Amen and his house ate thebread of sorrows.
As he said, amen and his housefell in vain.
Solomon, you're staying up allnight and you're trying to
figure out how to fix this messthat you made In vain.
(14:08):
You're rising up early andyou're trying to correct all the
mistakes that you made Becauseyou didn't let the Lord build
the house.
Amen, amen, Amen.
Also, we know that the scripturetaught the children of Israel
from the very Beginning thatthey were to be Fruitful and to
(14:31):
multiply.
Amen.
And God told Adam and Eve to befruitful and multiply and
replenish the earth.
Have children, god told them.
And when Noah came up the ark,the Lord told Noah Be fruitful
and multiply your sons and havechildren.
Amen, that was the command ofGod.
(14:51):
But Solomon thought he knewbetter than God.
Amen, and Solomon only, eventhough he had 700 wives.
You know, sometimes you readabout those kings in the Old
Testament and some of them had60 and 70 sons that rode on
white mules.
They had multiple children.
(15:12):
But do you know that Solomon, out of 700 wives and 300
concubines, only had one son,amen.
He only had one son, rehoboam, when God had told him to have
children, amen.
You see how backwards it was inhis life.
(15:32):
God said have one wife.
And he had multiple wives.
And God said had multiplechildren, and he only had one
son, amen.
Solomon's ideas, amen About howto build a house Was completely
in opposition and completelycontrary to the way that God had
(15:54):
ordained, amen that he wouldbuild his house.
And so he writes this littlesong and he sings to the
children of Israel, and he singsto you and me, amen.
Of what it is.
Amen.
If you're going to build ahouse, let the Lord build the
house.
(16:14):
I learned the hard way, amen.
That's not the way to do it.
I learned the hard way thatchildren are a heritage of the
Lord and the fruit of the wombis His reward.
I've had all the money, I'vehad all the things, I've had all
the pleasure, I've had all thefun, solomon said, but I learned
(16:39):
the hard way that the way ofGod is always best.
Can you say amen when you readEcclesiastes especially and you
see the decline of Solomon'slife?
You know Solomon, the richestking ever, had any and
(16:59):
everything a man could want inlife.
Amen.
The wisest king died amiserable man.
Amen.
He became hard.
That's what his people saidwhen they came to Rehoboam they
said, if you'll lighten our loadthat your father put upon us,
king Solomon in his old agebecame a hard man.
He was a lonely man.
(17:22):
Amen.
No children and grandchildren.
Amen.
No children and grandchildren.
Amen.
To fill that palace up.
All those wives went their ownways and Solomon became angry
and bitter and began to chaseJeroboam.
Amen, he is completely Amen.
A different character at theend of his life Than he was at
(17:44):
the beginning of his life, whenhe was young and tender before
god and god was giving visionsand understanding and revelation
and god was blessing him.
Amen.
But the end of his life, amen.
You see a hard and bitter man,you see a broken man, amen.
(18:04):
That leaves this world and mostlikely went to hell.
Amen.
After having so much wisdomBecause he thought he was
smarter than God.
Amen, praise God.
Solomon sings a song to us andhe teaches us.
Amen.
The house, the family, is ofGod.
(18:25):
Amen.
Family is not a human invention.
It is a divine creation by God.
It was the first community onearth that predates the church
or even the nations.
Amen.
When you think of theimportance of family to God, god
Himself is a family Father, sonand Holy Ghost.
(18:47):
Praise God, and you and I arecreated in the image of God and
we are created to have familyMother, father and children.
Can you say amen?
And when you consider amen, thefamily that is in heaven, the
angels, the cherubim, theseraphim and all of the redeemed
(19:09):
, there is a family in heaven.
In Ephesians 3, 14,.
For this cause, I bow my kneeto the Father of our Lord, jesus
Christ, of whom the wholefamily in heaven and earth is
named.
Praise God, god's got a familyin heaven.
Can you say amen?
(19:30):
I want to tell you somethingFamily is important to God and
family ought to be important toevery one of us.
Can you say amen?
Praise God, amen.
Family was important.
The Old Testament is a storyabout the family of God.
Amen, it is the family of thechildren of Israel, that every
(19:54):
tribe and family had their ownproperty rights and they stayed
together.
Glory to God, and they had acovenant that was to the family.
The New Testament is a was tothe family.
The New Testament is a covenantto the family.
God gave promise to Corneliusand to Lydia and to the
Philippian jailer that all ofthine household shall be saved.
(20:17):
Praise God.
God gave promise of the family.
The church is the family of God.
We were born again and is thefamily of God.
We were born Again and becamethe children Of God, and he is
our heavenly father and Jesus isour elder brother, and you and
I are brothers and sisters, andGalatians 6 Said we are of the
(20:40):
household Of faith.
Aren't you glad that family Isimportant to God?
Amen.
Family is important so that wemay say that the Bible is a
family story.
Praise God.
It is the story of the familyof God on earth and the family
(21:00):
of God in eternity.
Praise God.
Family is important unto God.
Amen.
We're made to realize theimportance of family.
Amen.
To build our family is thehighest calling of God on this
earth.
Are you listening to me, youngcouples?
Amen.
The greatest aspiration of yourlife, amen.
(21:23):
It should not to be half thethings of the world, but it is
to build your family before God.
Hallelujah, amen, amen.
Even though family is ordainedof God, the sad reality is not
all families make it.
Amen.
The sad reality is that in thehour in which we live, many
(21:47):
families separate and divide, and the truth of the matter is,
even in our churches there are alot of families.
Amen.
That are on life support andmany of them have already
dissolved and separated, divorced and went their separate
ways.
Amen.
It matters who builds the house.
(22:09):
Praise God.
Who builds the family, amen.
The foundation and premise uponwhich your family is being
built, praise God, amen.
Except the Lord build the house, amen.
They that labor, labor in vain.
Can I tell you, young couple, something here tonight If you
(22:30):
don't let the Lord build yourhouse, amen.
You're going to fail.
Your marriage is going to fail.
Your relationship is going tofail, amen.
Your children are going to failin life.
If you don't let the Lord buildyour house, praise God.
You say, pastor, how does theLord build our house?
(22:53):
He builds the house through us,amen.
He uses us to build our family,to build our house.
We build through hisinstruction and we build through
his power.
Glory to God.
There are some things here thatthis scripture implies to us
(23:13):
that, as I prayed and sought theLord this week, that he brought
to my heart, that I want togive to you right here Before we
come and pray In this altarservice tonight.
Amen.
The Lord must build the house.
In building the house, inbuilding period.
It implies several things to us.
(23:33):
There's five things that I wantto bring out.
There are more that could betalked about, but these are the
ones I feel like that areimportant for this service
tonight.
Amen.
Building implies having a plan.
Amen of action in order tobuild.
If you're going to buildsomething some of you guys work
at the shipyard when you go tothe shipyard, you have to build
(23:56):
according to the blueprint.
There is a plan by which thatbuilding is being built.
If you build a house throughthe county, there is an approved
set of plans that meets thecriteria of the building code
that ensures that that structurewill be built safely and
(24:17):
strongly and that it will beable to withstand the storms and
the winds that come.
There is a plan Amen.
Certain things have to be incertain places to withstand the
storms and the winds that come.
There's a plan Amen.
Certain things have to be incertain places, certain things
have certain jobs to do Amen.
And we must build according toa plan.
Can you say amen?
(24:38):
Anything that is not builtaccording to a plan?
Amen.
If that plan is flawed, if thatplan is not right, then
whatever's being built will bebuilt wrong and it will be in
vain.
I'm glad that God gave us a planto build by.
Can you say amen?
I'm glad God gave us a Bible.
(24:59):
Glory to God.
And that precious book that youhold in your hand is more than
just a spiritual book.
It is a plan by which we mustbuild our life.
It is a plan by which we mustbuild our families.
It shows us how to build right.
It shows us how to build strong.
(25:20):
It shows us how to build secure, so when the storms of life
comes against our families, ourfamilies will be able to stand.
Praise God, amen.
The Word of God has a plan forthe husband.
The Word of God has a plan forthe wife Amen.
The Word of God has a plan forthe children, of parenting the
(25:44):
children and how the childrenought to respond Amen.
The Word of God has a plan forthe finances of the home.
The Word of God has a plan ofhow we are to build our house.
Now you and I can think we'resmart and you can think that we
know better than God.
You and I can think that weknow how to build a marriage
(26:08):
better than God does.
Or we know how to rear ourchildren better than God does.
We know how to discipline andto teach our children better
than God does.
But if we try to sit up lateand rise up early and, in our
own thoughts and abilities, build our house, we're working
(26:29):
in vain and our house is goingto crumble and going to fall.
But young couples, listen to meright here tonight.
If you'll get into the Word ofGod, if you'll seek after God
and you say, god, I want to bethe husband or the wife, I want
to be the parent, I want tobuild my house according to your
(26:52):
prescribed plan, according tothe word of God, according to
heaven's blueprint Amen, it'llbe strong, it'll be safe, it'll
be secure.
Praise God.
Let me ask you something, youngman, do you think you're
smarter than God?
Amen.
Y'all getting quiet on me.
(27:13):
Praise God.
Young lady, do you think you'resmarter than God?
Amen.
Do you think your wisdom andability?
You just do it the way you wantto do it and you think that
it's going to come out betterThan if you follow God's way?
Amen, vain, amen.
They do it in vain.
Building implies that theremust be a plan, solomon in all
(27:35):
of his wisdom, amen.
If anybody could have done itAmen.
Without doing it God's way, solomon could have done it.
Right, I said if anybody couldhave done it and nobody can but
if anybody could have, solomonwould have been the one to do it
.
But he tried and he failedmiserably.
(27:55):
You know what he said at theend of Ecclesiastes, in the 12th
chapter, the last two verses.
Let us hear the conclusion Ofthe whole matter amen, fear god,
keep his commandments.
This is the whole duty of man.
Thank god.
I'll tell you what I've learned.
Solomon said amen, do it god'sway, hear the word of god and
(28:19):
follow after the lord.
That's the only way it's gonnawork.
You ain't got enough money tobuy yourself out of trouble.
You ain't got a high enoughposition amen.
To get your marriage out oftrouble.
You can't get your children outof drugs.
You can't get your children outof homosexuality.
You can't get your children outof trouble, amen.
(28:40):
You've got to follow God's way.
Amen.
It implies a plan.
Building also implies a costAmen.
Anytime you build something,it's going to cost something,
amen.
There's a price to pay to builda house, amen.
(29:01):
Amen.
And there is a price to pay tobuild a family, to build a
strong family, to build a goodfamily, to build a solid family,
there are sacrifices that mustbe made.
Amen, are you hearing me?
You young people Look this way.
You're the preacher tonight,amen.
I don't want you to go to thebathroom or anywhere else
(29:22):
because I need to preach to you.
I said there's some sacrificesthat need to be made if you're
going to have a good home.
Amen, it cannot be about you.
It cannot be about what youwant, amen.
You've got to sacrifice ofyourself to build your family.
(29:45):
Praise God, amen.
Anytime you have to buildsomething, you're going to have
to shell out money.
You're going to have to put outa cost.
And our Lord said sit down.
Who would build a tower?
And don't sit down first andcount the cost, if it has
sufficient to finish that toweror not.
And I'm going to tell yousomething.
That's something that youngpeople ought to do.
(30:07):
They ought to really know whatthey're getting into.
Their heart needs to be fullyinto it.
They need to be committed.
When you walk down that altarand say I do, you need to be
fully committed.
Let me tell you something incase some of you young people
don't know it's married now.
You're not a young'un anymore.
You're not a teenager anymore.
(30:28):
Amen.
You're not out here to have funon four-wheelers and get lifts
on your trucks and put a squadon them and spend all your money
and time Amen, indulging inthose things.
You've got a family to build.
I said you've got a family tobuild.
You've got children, family tobuild.
I said you've got a family tobuild.
You've got children to takecare of.
You've got a wife to take careof.
(30:49):
You need to grow up.
It's going to cost yousomething if you're going to
have a good marriage.
It's going to cost yousomething if you're going to
have a good family.
I said you should have countedthe cost before.
You said I do.
And now you've made acommitment and you better be man
enough and woman enough tostick to your commitment.
(31:10):
Praise God.
We got a sorry group of youngpeople this day and time that
will not live up to theircommitments.
Amen for better, for worse, forricher, for poor, in sickness
and in health.
Amen, I'm going to stand withyou.
Commitments amen For better, for worse, for richer, for
poorer, in sickness and inhealth.
Amen, I'm going to stand withyou.
I'm going to stand by you.
(31:30):
I'm going to put you abovemyself.
I'm going to put my familyabove myself, amen.
You can't build a house withoutsacrifice.
You can't build a good familywithout sacrifice.
Glory to God, amen.
I'm going to tell you something, guys, you, young men, the old
(31:56):
saying is you ain't worth yoursalt.
You don't put your family aheadof yourself, amen.
Your family has needs andyou're going to go buy something
stupid that you don't need,amen.
Amen.
Your family has needs andyou're going to go buy something
stupid that you don't need.
Amen.
Whenever your family has a need.
I ain't telling you anything Ididn't do.
Praise God, amen.
I sacrificed anything Huntingcamps, hunting clubs, shotguns,
(32:20):
whatever.
I wanted to buy four wheelers.
I didn't have all of that whenI was young.
Amen.
Don't have a lot of it today,amen.
But I didn't have it when I wasyoung because I had a family.
I had a family I was trying tobuild up.
Praise God, glory to God.
And if you're going to have agood family, you need to grow up
mature.
(32:41):
Be a man, be Mature, be a man,be a man of God, be a man that's
going to take care of yourfamily.
Get out of the bed and go towork.
Amen.
I'll get to that point in aminute.
I'm trying to get ahead ofmyself here.
Glory to God, it's going tocost you something.
Building implies time, amen.
(33:02):
Strong families are not builtovernight.
It takes time to do somethingright.
There are so many of our youngcouples.
They want to have everythingall at once when they get
married.
They want to have threevehicles and a brick house and
everything else when they getmarried Amen.
It takes time to buildsomething right, amen.
(33:24):
Get married Amen.
It takes time to buildsomething right, amen.
I've seen so many that takethem credit cards and they just
slide the cards or they go tothe bank and they sign we can
handle this, we can do this.
We can handle that, amen.
And they don't think about sickdays, they don't think about
bad days, they don't think aboutbad weather, they don't think
about things happening that areunforeseen, amen.
They don't pray those thingsthrough Amen.
(33:46):
Until they know it's the willof God, amen.
Glory to the Lamb of God.
It takes time.
I'm going to tell you what.
We didn't start out in a brickhouse.
I thank God what I live inright now, but we didn't start
out in a brick house, amen.
We started out.
I had an old Ford Ranger Amen.
(34:07):
And my wife borrowed hermother's car to go to work Amen.
We lived in a trailer, moved inwithout an air conditioner or a
septic tank, thank you, praisethe Lamb of God.
Amen.
We ate fish sticks and macaroniand cheese Amen.
When we didn't go to her mama'shouse Glory to God.
I'll tell you what we were happy.
I said we were happy.
Can I tell you, young couples,it's not things that makes you
(34:30):
happy, it's not toys that makesyou happy.
When you get your heart rightwith God and you have a good
relationship with your family, that's the only thing that can
make you happy.
I said, that's the only thingthat can bring joy to your life
in this world.
Amen, praise the Lamb of God.
(34:52):
It takes time to get to wheresome of these people that's been
married for years are at Tohave land and to have property
and to have things.
Amen, it takes time.
It just doesn't happenovernight.
Amen, it takes time.
It just doesn't happenovernight.
Praise God.
Building takes time.
Building implies work Amen.
(35:12):
I'm going to tell you, buildinga family is hard work.
It takes effort.
Praise God.
You got to put something in.
I'm telling you what you need.
You need some skin in the game.
You need to put forth someeffort for your marriage, for
your family, for your children.
Praise God, do your part.
Let them do their part, amen.
(35:35):
But do your part.
I'm going to tell you Amen.
All of us are going to standbefore God on the day of
judgment.
As an individual, I'm not goingto stand before God for my wife.
I will stand before God formyself.
What kind of husband and fatherI have been?
I'm going to stand before God.
They may not do their duty, butthat does not mean I can't do
(35:58):
my duty.
Come on here now and yourspouse may not be doing what
they should do Amen.
But we get into this fight andI'm getting on my next point.
But if they're not going to dowhat they're supposed to do, I'm
not going to do what I'msupposed to do, amen.
And then it gets worse and itstarts compiling and it gets
worse, amen.
And before long you're notsleeping in the same bedroom and
(36:22):
she's going back to mama's AmenSleeping in the same bedroom
and she's going back to mamaAmen.
And you can't get along At thesupper table.
Oh, my God, you got to work atit.
Praise God, amen.
I can take any two people inthis room right now I don't care
how saved you are or howsanctified you are or how much
(36:43):
of the Holy Ghost you have andsit you down.
You're going to disagree onsomething, amen.
You take two people and putthem in the same household, amen
.
There's going to bedisagreements, amen, amen.
And so building to bedisagreements, amen, and so.
Building implies cooperation,praise God.
(37:04):
When you go on that ship, you'vegot different crafts doing
different things.
Or you go into that residentialhouse or commercial building
that you're working on, you'vegot electricians and you've got
HVAC.
You've got plumbers, and, andyou've got HVAC, you've got
plumbers, and they're all goingdifferent directions and tearing
out.
One will build something up,the other will come back and
tear it out.
They'll have to go back and fixit and repair it, etc, etc.
(37:27):
There's got to be somecooperation, praise God, and
I'll tell you how it is Withthem crafts, crafts at the
shipyard.
And it's the same way withcontractors.
They don't care about anybodyelse's job, all they care about
is theirs.
You can fix your job just niceand pretty, whatever they got to
do to get their job done, they're going to cut your boards
(37:49):
.
They're going, they're going tomess it all up and then you got
to come back and fix it, amen.
But we can't do that when webuild our house Amen.
We can't do that.
We've got to work together.
You know, one of the worstthings in our homes is husbands
and wives working against oneanother, working against one
another.
Everything that one's trying todo, the other one's trying to
(38:12):
tear it down.
Amen, being mean, ugly, rude,unappreciative.
You know, it would go a longway if you'd say thank you,
honey, for doing that for me.
It would go a long way.
I thank you for fixing thatgood meal that was wonderful.
Instead of saying is that allyou've got?
Is that the best you can do?
(38:34):
I've been out working all dayand I've got to come home and
eat that.
That's a dumb thing to do.
That's a dumb thing to do.
I said we need to work together, not against one another.
(38:54):
Praise God If you'll do.
I don't know why it is.
Most of you act like RobinNelson.
I wasn't there, but I can onlyimagine when he was trying to
date Sister Pammy.
Did you even speak to herbrother?
See, ain't he talking?
(39:16):
Now she's not here and she'slaughing because she knows I'm
telling the truth.
She probably had to invite youout to dinner.
She probably had to ask you tomarry her.
Look at that.
It's amazing whenever people areDating or courting and they do
(39:42):
everything To win that person'saffection oh honey, sweetheart,
I love you.
I can't wait till we getmarried.
And they're buying themeverything and they're doing
everything in the world and allof a sudden, whenever they get
married, it all stops.
Sister Madison, he just saidopit's over.
What's the deal, pickles?
(40:06):
What's going on right?
Amen?
I'm going to tell you, you gotto work at it.
You got to work at it, praiseGod.
You got to keep on wantingDoing something to make them
love you, doing something tomake them to want to spend time
with you.
I'm going to tell you somethingIf you're mean and ugly all the
(40:27):
time, they're not going tospend time with you.
They're not going to want tohold your hand, go out to eat
with you.
That's why they find theirgirlfriends to talk to the girls
.
That is, they find theirgirlfriends to talk to.
That's why they find theirgirlfriends to talk to the girls
.
That is, they find theirgirlfriends to talk to.
That's why the guys go to thehunting camp and they go fishing
and everywhere else with theirbuddies Because they don't want
to be around their spousesBecause they're so mean and ugly
(40:50):
and rude to one another.
Huh, you got to build up yourhouse.
Make your house a good place, aplace where your spouse wants
to be, where your children wantto be, where your family wants
to be.
Amen, praise God.
(41:12):
Oh, amos and Andy, everybodyremember Amos and Andy.
I didn't know you.
Was that old Brother Frankie?
Praise God, I was listening oneday and they was fighting, I
think him and Sapphira, was thatwhat her name was?
Sapphire, sapphire, sapphire.
He'd been listening too much,so it's a joyful If he calls you
(41:37):
Sapphire.
You know what's going on.
And he said I'm going to be thebig man and I'm going to
forgive.
Hallelujah.
I'm going to say I'm sorry.
You need to be the big man.
Say I'm sorry, isn't that right?
I want us to stand here.
We're going to do something Alittle different tonight.
I'm not finished preaching'tthat right?
(41:58):

Hallelujah, we've got a job todo to build up our homes.
Sister Ashley, can you all comeget us a song please?
(42:40):
Praise God, we've got a job todo to build up our homes.
Look across this congregationThree, four, five, six, that's
nine young couples right here.
Amen.
Some of you all probably couldfit that category, but a little
(43:01):
bit above it.
That's right, brother Derek,y'all got young children.
Come on up.
Who else has got young children?
Come on.
What are y'all doing sittingback there?
What are y'all doing back there?
Praise the Lamb of God.
Hallelujah Spread out a littlebit, make some room.
We've got three or four moreyoung couples.
What are y'all doing back there, brother Christopher?
(43:23):
Praise God.
Hallelujah.
Move on up here for us, glory toGod, glory to God.
We've got a job to do to buildup our families.
Can you say amen, amen.
But I need to give you someScriptures here tonight, across
this congregation of all youyoung couples.
Proverbs 11, 29.
(43:46):
He that troubleth his own houseshall inherit the wind.
Amen.
He that troubleth his own houseshall inherit the wind.
Do you know what that means?
If you trouble your house, you're going to end up with
nothing.
(44:06):
You're going to reach out tograb a hold of the wind and
you're going to have nothingleft.
God commands us to build up ourhouse, that it ought to be the
priority of our life.
But if you trouble your house, you fight against your house.
You do things that tears downand destroys your relationship,
(44:30):
your marriage, your spouse.
You're going to inherit thewind.
In Ecclesiastes 5 and 16.
Also, there is a sore evil that, in all points, as he came, so
shall he go.
And what profit hath he thathath labored for the wind?
(44:51):
The wind is nothing.
The wind is nothing.
Listen to me, you may feel likeyou'd be better off without a
marriage, without bills, withoutresponsibility, without having
to take care of all the thingsthat you're taking care of.
You feel like you'd be betteroff, but you won't.
(45:11):
You're going to reach to grabthose things in the world and
when you open your hand it'slike grabbing the wind.
You're going to be ending upwith nothing.
You lose your family.
You're going to have nothingleft.
Nothing left.
(45:34):
All of you, young couples needto listen to the Word of God
tonight.
You've got an opportunity tobuild up your house.
You've got an opportunity tomake it strong.
You've got an opportunity tohave happiness and joy and peace
.

the Lord.
You can make that opportunityor you can break it.
(45:55):
Amen, lord.
You can make that opportunityor you can break it.
Amen.
You can be like Solomon, becomean old, hard, lonely individual
Because you tore your familydown and God cannot bless you if
you don't work on your family.
(46:15):
How many have we got?
Speaker 3 (46:16):

I felt that it was veryimportant and imperative that
young couples in this serviceunderstood, lord, where they are
, god, and how quickly thattheir family can be destroyed.
They're reaching for thingsthat really of no importance,
god.
(47:08):
They're reaching for thingsthat are going to bring their
demise and destruction.
But I pray, help young men andyoung ladies, god, these couples
right here tonight.
Oh, that they would build uptheir house.
That they would build up theirhouse, that they would
strengthen their home.
Oh, god, in the name of Jesus, their children, those that
(47:30):
desire children.
I pray, open the womb right now, lord.
Open the womb of those in thisaltar.
Open the womb, oh God, of thosethat are crying Lord and
sighing for children.
Bless them, lord, with children.
Bless them, lord, with children, oh God, and let them build up
their house.
(47:51):
Let them build up their home.

We've got to put godlystandards in our home.
We've got to put godlyconvictions in our home.
God, we've got to bar the gateand the windows and don't let
(48:12):
the world in our home, or it'lldestroy us.
Oh God, my God, I pray.
Help every young couple in thisaltar if they expect their home
to make it God, to bind together, to work together, to pray
together, to love one anotherwith a pure heart, fervently to
be good to one another.

that will take place throughoutthis altar tonight.
In these young couples' hearts,I bind.

Accept the Lord, build thehouse, build our homes, build
our relationships, build us up.

, lest hell destroys and you'releft with nothing but the wind.
Nothing but the wind.

(49:42):
Jesus.
Lord, sister Nona, touch her,and brother Josh, brother Mark
and sister Erica.
Lord touch them.
Every young couple in thischurch, whether they're here or
abroad, luke and Mariah, lordtouch them tonight.
Oh God, every young couple thathail has made a bid for their
(50:03):
marriage, that hail has made abid for their babies.
Oh God, I bind the enemy rightnow.
I bind the enemy right now.
Work, children, work and prayfor your family.
Work and pray for your marriage.
Work and pray for your family.
Work and pray for your marriage.
Work and pray for your home.
Hallelujah, hallelujah, thankyou God, thank you God, thank

(50:47):
No matter what they do, I'mgoing to do right.
No matter what they do, I'mgoing to do right and I'm going
to pray for my marriage.
I'm going to pray for my spouse.
I'm going to pray for my spouse.
I'm going to pray for mychildren.
I'm going to sacrifice, I'mgoing to give of myself.
I'm going to do everything Ican to make and build my family.
(51:08):
Praise God, holy holy holy holy.
Oh, come on, as you're standingbefore the Lord, make
commitments, as you're standingbefore the Lord right here
tonight.
Oh God, let this baby transformthis family.
(51:33):
Oh God, lord, in the name ofJesus, that's right.
Pray for them, grandma andGrandpa.
Pray for them, hallelujah,hallelujah, hallelujah,

This brand new home right here, god, let it be sanctified unto
the Lord.
God, let their home be a holyplace.
Let the love of God Come on,build, build your family
(51:59):
together, build it in theknowledge of the Lord and in the
wisdom of the Lord.
Let the Lord lead you.
Let the Lord desires to do ineverybody's life, but especially
in young couples' lives.
Here tonight, praise God andyoung married couples in this
(52:20):
service tonight, and the Lordhas blessed our church with a
good number of young marriedcouples.
We're thankful for these youngfamilies, these young couples,
and maybe some soon-to-becouples we don't know yet Praise
.
God, if her daddy heard that hewould be hurting right.
(52:40):
Amen.
Maybe he's listening, I don'tknow.
Praise God, turn in your Bibleto Psalm 127 tonight, psalm 127.
So I pray that you would putyour heart into the Word of the
Lord and into the preachingtonight, especially you young
(53:00):
couples in this service.
Put your heart into the Word ofthe Lord, amen, and let God
speak to you.
That's an important thing tohear from God, right, that's
pretty weak.
I said it's an important thingto hear from God, right, amen,
it's a very important thing.
Praise God, to hear from theLord, and I pray that you would
(53:23):
tonight.
I believe that God has spokento me in this service and for
this service.
So you open your heart and letthe Lord touch you.
Psalm 127,.
If you want to stand with us,then help us pray over the
preaching and then we'll getinto the altar of the Lord
willing.
(53:45):
Verse 1, "except the Lord, buildthe house.
They labor in vain that buildit.
Except the Lord.
Keep the city.
The watchman waketh, but invain".
It is vain for you to rise upearly, to sit up late, to eat
the bread of sorrows, for so hegiveth his beloved sleep.
(54:07):
Lo.
Children are an heritage of theLord, and the fruit of the womb
is his reward as arrows in thehand of a mighty man.
So are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath hisquiver full of them.
Praise God.
Except the Lord, build thehouse, amen.
(54:37):
I want to preach to us aboutbuilding a family.
Building a family.
Would you help me pray tonightover the word of the Lord,
father, grateful Lord unto youfor the presence of God in this
service and how you've beenmoving, how the Spirit of the
Lord is touching us.
Oh God, we give you honor andglory and praise for it, and I
pray you would talk to me, prayyou would talk through me, lord,
(55:00):
to the heart of our peopleright here in this service.
Lord, speak to us, o God, theeternal word of God, the Holy
Ghost, to find where we are.
That would help, lord, everyone of us, and especially, lord,
our young couples in thisservice tonight, lord, that have
children.
Let the blessing of the Lordcome upon the preaching and upon
(55:23):
the hearing of the Word of Godtonight.
God and I pray do a miraculousthing in this altar.
God, confirm your Word tonight.
Let signs follow your Word.
I pray through a demonstrationof the Holy Ghost tonight in
this house.
Would you lift your hand andthank God for what he's going to
do in your life.
Thank Him, say, lord, I thankyou for what You're going to do
(55:45):
in my life and in my family inthis service tonight.
Praise Him for that Amen, believe Him for that, trust Him
for that Amen.
Look to Him and expect it thatGod is going to do something in
your life and in your home, right here tonight.
Praise God, praise God, praiseGod.
God bless you as you're seatedtonight.
(56:06):
Amen.
Psalm 127 is known as theBuilder's Psalm.
Amen, accept the Lord, buildthe house.
We need to recognize here thatthe word house is not in the Old
Testament, most especially isnot always speaking of a
(56:27):
physical structure, and in thisScripture it is not necessarily
meaning a physical structure.
But the word house oftentimesin the Old Testament it meant a
family, it meant a household andit meant a father, a mother and
their children.
In Genesis 7, 1, you rememberwhere the Scripture said the
(56:57):
Lord said to Noah Come thou andall thy house into the ark, and
he certainly wasn't speaking tohim about his tent, but he was
talking about his wife and hischildren, all of his house.
So, except the Lord, build thehouse.
Amen.
There's many implications inthis scripture tonight.
Number one I'd like to pointout that the scripture tells us
that a house must be built, afamily must be built, amen.
(57:22):
It is not something that justhappens, praise God.
It is not just something thatcomes out of nowhere, but a
house, a family, must be built.
It is also implied by that thatsomeone must build the house.
If a house is to be built, there must be a builder Amen.
(57:46):
The Scripture bears out to usthat it is very important who
builds our house, amen.
I said it's important whobuilds our house.
Praise God.
Except the Lord, build thehouse.
Amen.
Except the Lord, build thehouse.
Amen.
It goes on to tell us.
Those that do not allow theLord to build the house are
(58:08):
building their house in vain.
They may rise up early, theymay sit up late, they may put
all of their mind, heart, energyand effort into it, but it is
vain for a person to sit up lateand try to build their house
without god.
It is vain for an individual torise up early and try to build
(58:31):
their family or their housewithout god.
And so he said to eat the breadof sorrows those that rise up
early or even sit up late Withthe desire of building their
home, their house, theirhousehold, their own way,
without the Lord, are going toeat the bread of sorrows.
(58:54):
It's not going to work, amen.
But then it said but then so hegiveth his beloved sleep.
And so those that allow theLord to build their house, they
can rest easy because God isdoing the work.
Praise God, and he gives hisbeloved sleep.
I want you to know that in thisScripture that we see here, it's
(59:18):
implied that building a houseinvolves children.
Three of the five of thesescriptures that we read tonight
imply or speak about children.
Children are an heritage.
The fruit of the womb is Hisreward, amen.
Happy is the man that hath hisquiver full of them.
(59:38):
And so these verses relate tous that in the building of a
family, in the building of ahouse or a household, children
are essential unto that building.
In the Hebrew, the word son isben b-e-n, and it means a
builder of the family.
(01:00:00):
The word daughter is bath, andit is the feminine of the word
being.
So the word for daughter meansa female builder of the family.
The word house in the Hebrew isbeeth, and it means a man to
build.
All of those come from the wordbeinah, which means to build.
(01:00:22):
All of those come from the wordbaina, which means to build,
praise God.
So the whole concept of a homeor a house, there is a building
that is involved in thathousehold.
Amen, except the Lord, buildthe house.
It's very important for us tosee something in this little
(01:00:43):
psalm of five verses that wehave before us here tonight Amen
.
The heading says a song ofdegrees for Solomon, but
actually it was written bySolomon.
Amen.
This psalm is really a psalm of.
You know most of the psalms ofDavid and Asaph and others.
(01:01:04):
Many of them are psalms of joyand victory and happiness and
looking to the Lord.
But this is a psalm of hispersonal experience, and so it
is a song of his abject failure.
It is a song of his regretjectfailure.
It is a song of his regret andof his remorse.
(01:01:24):
Solomon, though, he was thewisest man that ever lived.
He did some very stupid things, isn't that right?
Oh, I'm glad we've got thestory of Solomon in the Bible,
not only of the glory of hiskingdom, but when you look into
Proverbs and Ecclesiastes andthe end of His kingdom, then you
(01:01:46):
see the mistakes that this manmade and this song is really,
brothers, probably one of thefirst blues songs that was ever
written.
Amen, amen, it is the blues heis crying and lamenting, amen,
amen, things is the blues he iscrying and lamenting, amen,
things that he learned in life, his own personal experience Amen
(01:02:08):
, he tried to build his house.
Amen, and though he had thewisdom of God, like no other man
would ever have, solomondecided to build his house
against the wisdom of God.
He tried to build his house inhis own thoughts, in his own
ideas and in his own way, amen, and it failed him.
(01:02:34):
Amen, it matters who buildsyour house.
Amen, amen.
You think of Solomon.
We know, amen, that thescripture made it very clear and
very plain that that we were tobe the husband of one wife,
that God made Adam and God madeEve, and, and God gave specific
(01:02:56):
commandments to the kings thatthey were to have one wife and
that was to be the wife of thedaughters of israel.
Amen, but we find that solomondone things his own way.
He built his house as he wantedto build his house.
Amen, we find him.
Not only did he not just marryone of the women of the children
(01:03:21):
of Israel, but he marriedheathen women, he married
idolatrous women, he marriedwomen and then he built temples
for the gods that they servedand that they worshipped Amen.
Not only did he marry ungodlywomen, but he married multiple
women, married ungodly women, but he married multiple women.
(01:03:41):
And the Bible said he married700 wives and then had 300
concubines, amen.
When God said you should onlyhave one, amen, and she should
be bone of your bone and fleshof your flesh, amen, you should
only have one.
He decided to build his houseLike he thought was best to
(01:04:05):
build it and he went completelyopposite Of the wisdom of God
and the commandment of God andthe understanding of God and he
married multiple women.
Amen.
1 Kings 11 tells us of how heloved many strange women.
He married those women, builtthose temples for them and then
(01:04:28):
the Bible said he claimed tothem in love, amen.
And his wives turned away hisheart.
And the Scripture verse 9, saidand the Lord was angry with
Solomon because his heart wasturned away from the Lord, god
(01:04:49):
of Israel, which had appearedunto him.
And the Lord said because thisis done of thee, thou hast not
kept my covenant and my statutes.
I will surely rend the kingdomfrom thee and will give it to
thy servant, amen.
Solomon decided to build hishouse in his own thoughts, in
(01:05:11):
his own wisdom, in his own way, against the commandments of God.
Amen and his house ate thebread of sorrows, as he said.
Amen and his house ate thebread of sorrows as he said.
Amen and his house fell in vain.
Solomon, you're staying up allnight and you're trying to
figure out how to fix this messthat you made In vain.
(01:05:32):
You're rising up early andyou're trying to correct all the
mistakes that you made Becauseyou didn't let the lord build
the house.
Amen, amen.
Also, we know that the scriptureuh taught the children of
israel from the very beginningthat they were to be fruitful
(01:05:55):
and to multiply.
Amen.
And god told adam and eve to befruitful and multiply and
replenish the earth, havechildren, god told them.
And when Noah came off the ark,the Lord told Noah be fruitful
and multiply your sons and havechildren.
Amen.
That was the command of God.
(01:06:16):
But Solomon thought he knewbetter than God.
Amen, and Solomon only, eventhough he had 700 wives.
You know, sometimes you readabout those kings in the Old
Testament and some of them had60 and 70 sons that rode on
white mules.
They had multiple children.
(01:06:37):
But do you know that Solomon, out of 700 wives and 300
concubines, only had one son,amen.
He only had one son, rehoboam.
When God had told him to havechildren, amen, you see how
backwards it was in his life.
(01:06:57):
God said have one wife, and hehad multiple wives.
And God said have multiplechildren, children, and he only
had one son, amen.
Solomon's ideas, amen, about howto build a house was completely
in opposition and completelycontrary to the way that God had
(01:07:19):
ordained.
Amen, that he would build hishouse.
And so he writes this littlesong and he sings to the
children of Israel.
And he sings to you and me,amen, of what it is, amen, and
if you're going to build a house, let the Lord build the house.
(01:07:39):
I learned the hard way, amen, that's not the way to do it.
I learned the hard way, amen, that's not the way to do it.
I learned the hard way thatchildren are a heritage of the
Lord and the fruit of the wombis His reward.
I've had all the money, I'vehad all the things, I've had all
the pleasure, I've had all thefun, solomon said.
(01:08:01):
But I learned the hard way thatthe way of God is always best.
Can you say amen, amen.
When you read Ecclesiastesespecially and you see the
decline of Solomon's life, youknow Solomon, the richest king
(01:08:22):
ever, had any and everything aman could want in life.
Amen.
The wisest king died.
A miserable man, amen.
He became hard.
That's what his people saidwhen they came to Rehoboam.
They said If you'll lighten ourload that your father put upon
us, king Solomon in his old agebecame a hard man.
(01:08:43):
He was a lonely man.
Amen.
No children and grandchildren.
Amen To fill that palace up.
All those wives went their ownways and Solomon became angry
and bitter and began to chaseJeroboam.
Amen.
He isam, amen.
He is completely Amen.
(01:09:04):
A different character At theend of his life Than he was at
the beginning of his life, whenhe was young and tender Before
God and God was giving himvisions and understanding and
revelation and God was blessinghim.
Amen.
But the end of his life, amen.
You see a hard and bitter man.
(01:09:26):
You see a broken man.
Amen.
That leaves this world and mostlikely went to hell.
Amen.
After having so much wisdombecause he thought he was
smarter than God.
Amen, praise God.
Solomon sings a song to us andhe teaches us.
(01:09:46):
Amen.
The house, the family, is of God, amen.
Family is not a human invention.
It is a divine creation by God.
It was the first community onearth that predates the church
or even the nations.
Amen.
When you think of theimportance of family to god, god
(01:10:07):
himself is a family father, sonand holy ghost.
Praise god.
And you and I are created inthe image of god and we are
created to have family Mother, father and children.
Can you say amen?
And when you consider amen, thefamily that is in heaven, the
(01:10:28):
angels, the cherubim, theseraphim and all of the redeemed
, there is a family in heaven InEphesians 3, 14.
For this cause, I bow my kneeto the Father of our Lord, jesus
Christ, of whom the wholefamily in heaven and earth is
(01:10:50):
named.
Praise God, god's got a familyin heaven.
Can you say amen?
I want to tell you somethingFamily is important to God and
family ought to be important toevery one of us.
Can you say amen to God, andfamily ought to be important To
every one of us.
Can you say amen.
Praise God, amen.
Family was important.
The Old Testament Is a storyAbout the family of God.
(01:11:14):
Amen.
It is the family of thechildren of Israel that every
tribe and family had their ownproperty rights and they stayed
together.
Glory to God.
And they had a covenant thatwas to the family.
The new testament is a covenantto the family.
God gave promise to Corneliusand to Lydia and to the
(01:11:37):
Philippian jailer that all ofthine household Shall be saved.
Praise God.
God gave promise of the family.
The church is the family of God.
We were born again and becamethe children of God, and he is
our heavenly father and Jesus isour elder brother, and you and
(01:12:00):
I are brothers and sisters, andGalatians 6 said we are of the
household of faith.
Aren't you glad that family isimportant to God?
Amen.
Family is important so that wemay say that the Bible is a
family story.
Praise God.
It is the story of the familyof God on earth and the family
(01:12:25):
of God in eternity.
Praise God.
Family is important unto God.
Amen.
We're made to realize theimportance of family.
Amen.
To build our family is thehighest calling of God on this
earth.
Are you listening to me, youngcouples?
Amen.
The greatest aspiration of yourlife, amen Should not to be
(01:12:49):
half the things of the world, but it is to build your family
before God.
Hallelujah, amen, amen.
Even though family is ordainedof God.
The sad reality is not allfamilies make it Amen.
Amen.
Even though family is ordainedof God, the sad reality is not
all families make it Amen.
(01:13:09):
The sad reality is that, in thehour in which we live, many
families separate and divide, and the truth of the matter is,
even in our churches there are alot of families, amen.
That are on life support andmany of them have already
dissolved and separated, divorced and went their separate
ways.
(01:13:29):
Amen.
It matters who builds the house.
Praise God.
Who builds the family.
Amen, the foundation andpremise upon which your family
is being built.
Praise God, amen, thefoundation and premise upon
which your family is being built.
Praise God, amen.
Accept the Lord.
Build the house, amen.
Day that labor, labor in vain.
(01:13:50):
Can I tell you, young couple, something here tonight If you
don't let the Lord build yourhouse, amen.
You're going to fail.
Your marriage is going to fail.
Your relationship is going tofail.
Your marriage is going to fail.
Your relationship is going tofail, amen.
Your children are going to failin life.
If you don't let the Lord buildyour house, praise God.
(01:14:12):
You say, pastor, how does theLord build our house?
He builds the house through us,amen.
He uses us to build our family,to build our house.
He builds the house through us,amen.
He uses us to build our family,to build our house.
We build through hisinstruction and we build through
his power.
Glory to god.
(01:14:33):
There's some things here thatthis scripture implies to us
that, as I prayed and sought theLord this week that he brought
to my heart, that I want to giveto you right here before we
come and pray in this altarservice tonight Amen, the Lord
must build the house.
In building the house, inbuilding period.
(01:14:55):
It implies several things to us.
There's five things that I wantto bring out.
There are more that could betalked about, but these are the
ones I feel like that areimportant for this service
tonight Amen.
Building implies having a plan, amen of action in order to build
.
If you're going to buildsomething some of you guys work
(01:15:17):
at the shipyard when you go tothe shipyard, you have to build
according to the blueprint.
There is a plan by which thatbuilding is being built.
If you build a house throughthe county, there is an approved
(01:15:39):
set of plans that meets thecriteria of the building code.
That ensures that thatstructure will be built safely
and strongly and that it will beable to withstand the storms
and the winds that come.
There's a plan Amen.
Certain things have to be incertain places.
Certain things have certainjobs to do Amen.
And we must build according toa plan.
(01:15:59):
Can you say amen?
Anything that is not builtaccording to a plan?
Amen, and we must buildaccording to a plan.
Can you say amen?
Anything that is not builtaccording to a plan?
Amen.
If that plan is flawed, if thatplan is not right, then
whatever is being built will bebuilt wrong and it will be in
vain.
I'm glad that God gave us a planto build by.
(01:16:19):
Can you say amen?
I'm glad God gave us a Bible tobuild by.
Can you say amen.
I'm glad God gave us a Bible.
Glory to God.
And that precious book that youhold in your hand is more than
just a spiritual book.
It is a plan by which we mustbuild our life.
It is a plan by which we mustbuild our families.
(01:16:40):
It shows us how to build right.
It shows us how to build right.
It shows us how to build strong.
It shows us how to build secure.
So when the storms of lifecomes against our families, our
families will be able to stand.
Praise God, amen.
The Word of God has a plan forthe husband.
(01:17:00):
The Word of God has a plan forthe husband.
The Word of God has a plan forthe wife Amen.
The Word of God has a plan forthe children, of parenting the
children and how the childrenought to respond Amen.
The Word of God has a plan forthe finances of the home.
The Word of God has a plan ofhow we are to build our house.
(01:17:23):
Now, you and I can think we'resmart and you can think that we
know better than God.
You and I can think that weknow how to build a marriage
better than God does.
Or we know how to rear ourchildren better than God does.
We know how to discipline andto teach our children better
than God does.
(01:17:43):
We know how to discipline andto teach our children better
than God does.
But if we try to sit up lateand rise up early and, in our
own thoughts and abilities, build our house, we're working
in vain and our house is goingto crumble and going to fall.
But young couples, listen to meright here tonight If you'll get
into the word of God, if you'llseek after God and you'll say
(01:18:07):
God, I want to be the husband orthe wife, I want to be the
parent, I want to build my houseAccording to your prescribed
plan, according to the word ofGod, according to heaven's
blueprint.
Amen.
It'll be strong, it'll be safe,it'll be secure.
(01:18:27):
Praise God.
Let me ask you something, youngman.
Do you think you're smarterthan God?
Amen.
Y'all getting quiet on me,praise God.
Young lady, do you think you'resmarter than God?
Amen.
Do you think your wisdom andability, you, you just do it the
way you want to do it and youthink that it's going to come
(01:18:49):
out better than if you followgod's way?
Amen.
Vain amen.
They do it in vain.
Building implies that theremust be a plan, solomon in all
of his wisdom.
Amen.
If anybody could have done itamen, without the uh.
Doing it god's way, solomoncould have done it right.
I said if anybody could havedone it and nobody can but if
(01:19:12):
anybody could have, solomonwould have been the one to do it
.
But he tried and he failedmiserably.
You know what he said at theend of Ecclesiastes, in the 12th
chapter, the last two verses.
Let us hear the conclusion ofthe whole matter Amen, fear God,
keep his commandments.
(01:19:34):
This is the whole duty of man, thank God.
I'll tell you what I've learned.
Solomon said Amen, do it God'sway, hear the word of God and
follow after the Lord.
That's the only way it's goingto work.
You ain't got enough money Tobuy yourself out of trouble.
You ain't got a high enoughposition Amen, to get your
(01:19:55):
marriage out of trouble.
You can't get your children outof drugs.
You can't get your children outof homosexuality.
You can't get your children outof homosexuality.
You can't get your children outof trouble.
Amen.
You've got to follow God's way.
Amen.
It implies a plan.
Building also implies a costAmen.
(01:20:15):
Anytime you build something,it's going to cost something.
Amen.
There's a price to pay to builda house.
Amen.
And there is a price to pay tobuild a family, to build a
strong family, to build a goodfamily, to build a solid family.
(01:20:36):
There are sacrifices that mustbe made.
Amen, are you hearing me?
You young people Look this wayto the preacher tonight.
Amen, I don't want you to go tothe bathroom or anywhere else
because I need to preach to you.
I said there's some sacrificesthat need to be made if you're
going to have a good home.
Amen, it cannot be about you,it cannot be about what you want
(01:21:02):
.
Amen.
You've got to sacrifice ofyourself to build your family.
Praise God, amen.
Anytime you have to buildsomething, you're going to have
to shell out money, you're goingto have to put out a cost.
And our Lord said sit down whowould build a tower?
And don't sit down first andcount the cost, if it has
(01:21:25):
sufficient to finish that toweror not.
And I'm going to tell yousomething.
That's something that youngpeople ought to do.
They ought to really know whatthey're getting into.
Their heart needs to be fullyinto it.
They need to be committed.
When you walk down that altarand say I do, you need to be
committed.
(01:21:45):
When you walk down that altarand say I do.
You need to be fully committed.
Let me tell you something Incase some of you young people
don't know it's married now.
You're not a young'un anymore,you're not a teenager anymore,
amen.
You're not out here to have funon four wheelers and get lifts
on your trucks and put a squadon them and spend all your money
and time, amen, indulging inthose things.
You got a family to build.
(01:22:06):
I said you got a family tobuild.
You got children to take careof.
You got a wife to take care of.
You need to grow up.
It's going to cost yousomething if you're going to
have a good marriage.
It's going to cost yousomething if you're going to
have a good marriage.
It's going to cost yousomething If you're going to
have a good family.
I said you should have countedthe cost before.
You said I do.
(01:22:26):
And now you've made acommitment and you better be man
enough and woman enough tostick to your commitment.
Praise God, we've got a sorrygroup of young people this day
and time that will not live upto their commitments.
(01:22:47):
Amen For better, for worse, forricher, for poorer, in sickness
and in health.
Amen.
I'm going to stand with you.
I'm going to stand by you.
I'm going to put you abovemyself.
I'm going to put my familyabove myself, amen.
You can't build a house withoutsacrifice.
You can't build a good familywithout sacrifice.
(01:23:10):
Glory to God, amen.
I'm going to tell you something.
Guys, you young men, the oldsaying is you ain't worth your
salt.
You don't put your family aheadof yourself, amen.
Your family has needs andyou're going to go buy something
(01:23:31):
stupid that you don't need?
Amen.
Whenever your family has a need.
I ain't telling you anything Ididn't do.
Praise God, amen.
I sacrificed anything Huntingcamps, amen.
I sacrificed anything Huntingcamps, hunting clubs, shotguns,
whatever.
I wanted to buy four wheelers.
I didn't have all that when Iwas young Amen.
Don't have a lot of it today,amen.
(01:23:52):
But I didn't have it when I wasyoung because I had a family.
I had a family I was trying tobuild up.
Praise God, glory to God.
And if you're going to have agood family, you need to grow up
Mature, be a man, be a man ofGod, be a man that's going to
take care of your family, getout of the bed and go to work.
(01:24:13):
Amen.
I'll get to that point in aminute.
I'm trying to get ahead ofmyself here.
Glory to God.
Woo, it's going to cost yousomething.
Building implies time, amen.
Strong families are not builtovernight.
It takes time to do somethingright.
That's why many of our youngcouples they want to have
(01:24:36):
everything all at once when theyget married.
They want to have threevehicles and all a brick house
and everything else when theyget married.
They want to have threevehicles and a brick house and
everything else when they getmarried Amen.
It takes time to buildsomething right, amen.
I've seen so many that takethem credit cards and they just
slide the cards or they go tothe bank and they sign we can
handle this, we can do this, wecan handle that, amen.
(01:24:59):
And they don't think about sickdays.
They don't think about sickdays.
They don't think about bad days, they don't think about bad
weather, they don't think aboutthings happening that are
unforeseen, amen.
They don't pray those thingsthrough Amen.
Until they know it's the willof God, amen.
Glory to the Lamb of God.
It takes time.
I'm going to tell you what.
We didn't start out in a brickhouse.
(01:25:20):
I thank God what I live inright now, but we didn't start
out in a brick house.
Amen.
We started out.
I had an old Ford Ranger Amen.
And my wife borrowed hermother's car to go to work Amen.
And we lived in a trailer, moved in without an air
conditioner or a septic tank, thank you, praise the Lamb of
God.
Amen.
(01:25:40):
We ate fish sticks and macaroniand cheese Amen.
When we didn't go to her mama'shouse Glory to God.
I'll tell you what we were happy.
I said we were happy.
Can I tell you, young couples,it's not things that makes you
happy, it's not toys that makesyou happy.
When you get your heart rightwith God and you have a good
(01:26:02):
relationship with your family, that's the only thing that can
make you happy.
I said, that's the only thingthat can bring joy To your life
in this world.
Amen, praise the Lamb of God.
It takes time To get to wheresome of these people that's been
married for years are at Tohave land and to have property
(01:26:26):
and to have things.
Amen.
It takes time.
It just doesn't happenovernight.
Praise God.
Building takes time.
Building implies work, amen.
I'm going to tell you, buildinga family is hard work.
It takes effort.
Praise God, you've got to putsomething in.
I'm going to tell you whatbuilding a family is hard work.
It takes effort.
Praise God, you've got to putsomething in.
I'm going to tell you what youneed.
You need some skin in the game.
(01:26:47):
You need to put forth someeffort for your marriage, for
your family, for your children.
Praise God, do your part.
Let them do their part, amen.
But do your part.
I'm going to tell you amen.
All of us are going to standbefore God on the day of
judgment.
As an individual, I'm not goingto stand before God for my wife
(01:27:09):
.
I will stand before God formyself.
What kind of husband and fatherI have been.
I'm going to stand before God.
They may not do their duty, butthat does not mean I can't do
my duty.
Come on here now and yourspouse may not be doing what
they should do Amen.
But we get into this fight andI'm getting on my next point.
(01:27:31):
But if they're not going to dowhat they're supposed to do, I'm
not going to do what I'msupposed to do, amen.
And then it gets worse and itstarts compiling and it gets
worse.
Amen.
Before long you're not sleepingin the same bedroom and she's
going back to mama's Amen.
And you can't get along at thesupper table.
(01:27:51):
Oh my God, you've got to workat it.
Praise God, amen.
I can take any two people inthis room right now I don't care
how saved you are or howsanctified you are or how much
of the Holy Ghost you have andsit you down.
You're going to disagree onsomething, amen.
(01:28:13):
You take two people and putthem in the same household, amen
.
There's going to bedisagreements, amen.
And so building impliescooperation, praise God.
You go to a on that ship.
You've got different craftsdoing different things.
Or you go into that residentialhouse or commercial building
(01:28:37):
that you're working on, you'vegot electricians and you've got
HVAC, you've got plumbers andthey're all going different
directions and tearing out.
One will build something up andthe other will come back and
tear it out.
They'll have to go back and fixit and repair it, etc.
Etc.
There's got to be somecooperation, praise God, and
I'll tell you how it is withthem crafts at the shipyard.
(01:28:59):
And it's the same way withcontractors.
They don't care about anybodyelse's job.
All they care about is theirs.
You can fix your job, just niceand pretty.
Whatever they've got to do toget their job done.
They're going to cut yourboards, they're going to mess it
all up, and then you've got tocome back and fix it, amen.
But we can't do that when webuild our house Amen.
(01:29:23):
We can't do that.
We've got to work together.
You know, one of the worstthings in our homes is husbands
and wives working against oneanother, working against one
another.
Everything that one's trying todo, the other one's trying to
tear it down, amen, being mean, ugly, rude, unappreciative.
(01:29:44):
You know, it'd go a long way ifyou'd say thank you, honey, for
doing that for me.
It'd go a long way if you'd saythank you for fixing that good
meal that was wonderful, insteadof saying is that all you've
got?
Is that the best you can do?
I've been out working all dayand I've got to come home and
eat that.
Is that the best you can do?
I've been out working all dayand I've got to come home and
eat that.
That's a dumb thing to do.
(01:30:06):
That's a dumb thing to do.
I said we need to work together, not against one another.
Praise God If you'll do.
I don't know why it is.
Most of you act like RobinNelson.
I wasn't there, but I can onlyimagine when he was trying to
(01:30:31):
date Sister Pammy, did you evenspeak to her brother?
See, ain't he talking?
Now she's not here and she'slaughing because she knows I'm
telling the truth.
She probably had to invite youout to dinner.
(01:30:53):
She probably had to ask you tomarry her.
It's amazing whenever people aredating or courting and they do
everything to win that person'saffection oh honey, sweetheart,
I love you.
I can't wait till we getmarried.
(01:31:13):
And they're buying themeverything and they're doing
everything in the world and allof a sudden, whenever they get
married, it all stops.
Sister Madison, he just said, oop, it all stops.
Sister Madison, he just said, oop, it's over.
What's the deal, pickles?
What's going on?
Right?
Amen?
(01:31:35):
I'm going to tell you you got towork at it.
You got to work at it, praiseGod.
You got to keep on wanting, doing something to make them
love you, doing something tomake them to want to spend time
with you.
I'm going to tell you somethingIf you're mean and ugly all the
time, they're not going tospend time with you.
They ain't going to want tohold your hand and go out to eat
(01:31:56):
with you.
That's why they find theirgirlfriends to talk to the girls
.
That is, they find theirgirlfriends to talk to the girls
.
That is, they find theirgirlfriends to talk to.
That's why the guys go to thehunting camp and they go fishing
and everywhere else with theirbuddies, because they don't want
to be around their spouses, because they're so mean and ugly
and rude to one another.
Huh, you got to build up yourhouse.
(01:32:21):
Make your house, make yourhouse a good place, a place
where your spouse wants to be,where your children want to be,
where your family wants to be.
Amen, praise God.
Oh, amos and Andy, everybodyremember Amos and Andy.
(01:32:43):
I didn't know you was that oldBrother, frankie.
Praise God, I was listening oneday and they was fighting.
I thank him.
And Sapphira, that was her name, sapphire, sapphire, sapphire,
he'd been listening too much, soit's a joyful if he calls you
(01:33:08):
Sapphire, you know what's goingon.
And he said I'm going to be thebig man, I'm going to forgive.
I'm going to say I'm sorry.
You need to be the big man.
Say I'm sorry, isn't that right?
I want us to stand here.
We're going to do something alittle different tonight.
I'm not finished preaching, butI've got another scripture I
want to read.
But I want all the youngmarried couples to come together
(01:33:32):
around the altar for me rightnow.
Stand across this front, allyou young folks and elders.
If you would bear with us justa little bit here.
My focus is on this group righthere tonight.
Come on up close, I'm not goingto hurt you.

Look across this congregationThree, four, five, six that's
(01:34:18):
nine young couples right here.
Amen.
Some of you all probably couldfit that category but, a little
bit above it.
That's right, Brother Derek.
Y'all got young children.
Come on up.

Praise God, Come on.
What are y'all doing sittingback there?
What are y'all doing back there?

Can you say amen, amen.
But I need to give you somescriptures here tonight, across
(01:35:03):
this congregation, all you youngcouples, proverbs 11, 29.
He that troubleth his own houseshall inherit the wind.
Amen.
He that troubleth his own houseshall inherit the wind.
(01:35:24):
Do you know what that means?
If you trouble your house, you're going to end up with
nothing.
You're going to reach out tograb a hold of the wind and
you're going to have nothingleft.
God commands us to build up ourhouse, that it ought to be the
(01:35:44):
priority of our life.
But if you trouble your house, you fight against your house,
you do things that tears downand destroys your relationship,
your marriage, your spouse.
You're going to inherit thewind.
In Ecclesiastes 5 and 16.
Also, there is a sore evil thatin all points.
(01:36:08):
As he came, so shall he go.
And what profit hath he thathath labored for the wind?
The wind is nothing.
The wind is nothing.
Listen to me.
You may feel like you'd bebetter off without a marriage,
without bills, withoutresponsibility, without having
(01:36:30):
to take care of all the thingsthat you're taking care of.
You feel like you'd be betteroff, but you won't.
You're going to reach to grabthose things in the world and
when you open your hand, grabthose things in the world.
And when you open your hand,it's like grabbing the wind.
You're going to be ending upwith nothing.
You lose your family.
(01:36:52):
You're going to have nothingleft.
Nothing left.
All of you young couples need tolisten to the Word of God
tonight.
You've got an opportunity tobuild up your house.
You've got an opportunity tomake it strong.
You've got an opportunity tohave happiness and joy and peace
.
You've got an opportunity tohave children and be blessed of
(01:37:16):
the Lord.
You can make that opportunityor you can break it.
Amen.
You can make that opportunityor you can break it.
Amen.
You can be like Solomon Becomean old, hard, lonely individual
Because you tore your familydown and God cannot bless you if
(01:37:39):
you don't work on your family.
How many have we got?
