Speaker 2 (00:50):
How are you doing today, Hungry Jen?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Good you guys, excited to be here, excited to hear
the word of God. Man, the kids, the kids worship.
How many guys enjoy the kids worship? Getting that groove going,
getting funky on the beats. They were doing amazing each
each time they go, they get better. You know, I
said in first service, I get jealous every time I
wish I had that same anointing. I wish I had
that same rhythm, but sadly I don't, so God's purposes
(01:15):
and other things for me.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Good morning for.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
You guys that don't know me.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
My name is Angels.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
I'm a youth leader here twenty one years of age.
Been leading here since about twenty twenty three. Had the
privilege to see some of our you know, our students
grow that are up here today. Had the privilege to
lead alongside some great people. I want to honor our
pastors today for giving us the opportunity. They're always so
willing to pour into us, to lead us, to teach us,
to guide us. And truly I would not be here
(01:40):
without them. So I want to say thank you to
the pastors and the great men of God that are
in my life. The vision of Hunger Generation is to
lead people to encounter God daily, and today I want
to share a message about encountering God. What happens when
you encounter God. And I want to point to the
story of Moses Exodus, chapter three, which is a great example,
so let's start reading it. Says verse and the Angel
(02:00):
of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of
fire out of the midst of the bush. He looked
and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.
And Moses said, I will turn aside to see this
great site. Why the bush is not burned. When the
Lord saw that, he turned aside to see God called
out to him out of the bush Moses. Moses, he said,
here I am. Then he said, do not come near.
(02:21):
Take the sandals off your feet, for the place on
which you stand is holy ground, says and he said,
I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And
Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look
at God. Then the Lord said, I have surely seen
the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and
I have heard the cry because of their task masters.
I know they're suffering. And I have come down to
(02:43):
deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and
to bring them up out of that land to a
good and broadland, a land flowing with milk and honey,
to the place the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amurites, and
the Parasites, the hit Bites and the Jebisites. And now behold,
the cry of the people of Israel has come to me,
and I have seen the oppression with which the Obgyptians
oppressed them. Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that
(03:06):
you may bring my people, the children Israel, out of Egypt. Exodus,
chapter three, Verse two to ten. What I want to
point out in this story is we see in the
book of Exodus, you know what happens when you get
into God's presence. Title message is purpose in his presence.
So what happens when you get into the presence of God.
We see in in the story Moses mostly had no
(03:27):
idea who God was. You know, he was sent away
to Egypt. You know, lived with the pagans as always
used to. He was royalty and all that kind of stuff.
But all of a sudden he comes into this land
and then he finally meets God.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
God reaches out.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
To him, and in when God reached out to him,
he says, hey, these are a few things.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
You know.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I'm the God of your father. So we see number one,
when you get into the presence of God, God reveals
his character to you. God establishes the fear of the Lord.
This is who I am. I'm the God of your father,
and I'm the God of your father Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
I'm the God of you know, almighty power, all this
kind of stuff. When you get into the presence of God,
God reveals himself to you. You know, when I first
(04:04):
got saved, I knew that God had a purpose for me,
and he actually reached out to me. I understod number one,
God's a savior, and then understood that God wanted to
change my life.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
So God is also a sender.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
And then understood that God wanted to use me to
reach other people, to reach other people around me. So
when you encounter the presence of God, you finally meet.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Who God is.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Number two, you know your identity. So we see that
Moses was chosen by God. So God said I'm gonna
send you. You see that God names all these things
and he finally ends with I'm gonna send you to
do it.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
You know here in church, like you know revival, God
wants to save the cities. God wants to save the nations,
all the kind of stuff' like that's great. And then
God comes around and says, I'm gonna use you to
do it, you know what I mean. And you might
be thinking, God, I'm just here to the tend church.
I'm just here to get the good coffee. I'm just
here for the fellowship, you know, the young adults. I'm
just here for the girl. Boy, come on, come on, somebody.
But God says, I'm gonna go and I'm gonna send you.
(04:54):
So this is where you get your identity in God.
And he says, I'm chosen by God. I'm gonna be
used by God.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
I'm ma.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
That says for God, and I'm actually a vessel for Himkay,
So mostly understood, Okay, I'm chosen by God. And number
three he gets his purpose. So God said, this is
my purpose. I'm going to bring those people out of
the land and bring them into a good land. I'm
gonna save those people.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
I've seen their pressure.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I'm gonna use you. So we see that number one
you get the presents of God.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
You get the awe of God.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Number two you get your identity God. And number three
you get your purpose from God. So these are the
things that happens when you get into the presence of God.
But what happens when you stay out of the presidence
of God. Number one you forget who God is, You
forget of his mercy, you forget of his love for you,
you forget that he's a father. And then this lingers
into identity. Instead of feeling like a son, you may
(05:39):
feel like an orphan instead of feeling like a son.
You may say, I'm just a churchgoer. Instead of feeling
like you have a mission, you may feel like, man,
I'm just here to go through life and to walk
through churches, which leads into you not knowing your purpose.
So when you stay out of the presence of God,
you lose these things, and when you have no purpose,
you might end up like the Pharisees. You see, the
Pharisees were doing the work of God. They were doing
the ministry of God. It's very possible to do the
(06:01):
work of God, to do to do the purpose of God,
or to do the ministry of God without the purpose
of God. The Pharisees knew everything about the Bible, they
knew everything about the Word of God, they knew every promise,
yet they killed the one who.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
The purpose was about.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
So it's very possible when you're you know, you're in church,
you're doing the ministry, you're you're you know, you're doing
the Christian things, that you forget why am I doing
all of this? It's very easy, you know, especially us
leaders in the church, you know, go through the motions.
It's another Sunday, another time, to serve, you know, another
time to read your Bible, another time to listen to worship.
But what is the purpose of it all? Are we
doing checklists for God? Are we doing the mission of
(06:35):
it all? Do I come to church every Sunday knowing
that people can be saved, students can be saved?
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Alm My going through the checklist? You know, this is
just what I do.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
You know, we just got done with our summer camp
and it was a beautiful time of worship. And you know,
doing youth is repetitive, It gets it can get repetitive.
It's very easy to become familiar with God. It's very
easy to say, oh, I've seen that before. I know,
I've heard that before. I've seen that before. Happened to
the kid. But we as Christians are supposed to fight familiarity.
We're supposed to stay in the awe of God. We're
(07:04):
supposed to stay in awe of what He's done for us.
We're supposed to stay in awe of who we are
and what He's done for So you know, I'm there
sitting that youth camp and kids are getting encountered left
and right, kids are getting delivered, kids are suicidal. You see,
things breaking off, and I'm sitting there. You know, four
hundred fifty kids. You know, you can imagine I'm just
like man. God, this is the exact reason why you've
called me today. This is exact reason why you called
(07:24):
me out of darkness, the exact reason why you chose
me at all, my family, This is exact reason why
you've brought me back to hung your gens. Because there's
a bigger purpose to all these things, right, The purpose
is actually greater than you. So if you lack purpose,
it goes all back to you. Jesus said, there's no
greater love but to die for your friend, to lay
your life down for your friend. So when you don't
walk in their purpose, you lay your life down.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
For yourself, and it goes back to me, me and me.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Because the purpose of God was always unselfish. God didn't
come to most and said I'm going to use you
make you rich, grace, healthy, wealthy and successful. He said,
I'm going to use you to free the people, to
lead the people, to get them going. And so the
purpose of God is always unselfish. Because it's very easy
to become a pharisee where it's about you Whitewash tunbs.
(08:08):
But God is callingness lead to him to go back
to him, because when we go back to him, my
heart breaks for the students, your heart breaks for your
coworkers again, your heart breaks for your family again, your
heart breaks for those that don't know God again. And
you see them and you can't help but say, what's
going on in your mind? You know, I'll end with this.
We were just in Portland yesterday and very very uh
you know city that's over on this side.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
You know, if you raise your hands on this.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Side, I'll just say that.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
And you see these agendas, and you see the purpose
that they think they have. They think they're doing something good,
but they think that, you know, they they're making a difference,
when in reality they're making a difference for the devil.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
But we know as Christians the true purpose that these
people are lost, that these people need hope, that these
people need freedom, that these people need an actual purpose,
and that's to lead everyone else out of darkness into.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
His life and man.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
And this is where you find it in your bringing
bush moments. And not only that, we go into the
burning bush so we can bring others into the burning bush,
so they can bring others into the burning bush, so
that everybody can be in the landflowing the milk and honey.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
Man.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
So I just really want to encourage you guys.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Seek the face of God.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I love. Psalms twenty seven, verse eight. It says when
you said seek my face, my heart said to you
your face, Lord, I will seek. I want to be
I want to seek the face of God. Imagine God, company,
seek my face, seek my face. What would happen if
we sought the face of God? What would happen if
we were in His presence every day?
Speaker 6 (09:29):
God?
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Whatever your heart breaks for, I want my heart to
break for God.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Whatever you like, I want to like God. Whatever you hate,
I want to hate God. Whoever you want to be
close to, use me to be close to them. Amen,
he Lolui your praise though, come me give God an
their handclaff. Help this word encourage you guys. Love you guys.
Please tell me welcome the next speaker.
Speaker 7 (09:57):
God is good, I said, God is good and all
the time. My name is Sarah. I am sixteen years
old and I'm a student leader here at Hungry Jen.
So the title of my message today is what's your type?
(10:17):
So if everyone can get their bibles, or if you
have the Bible, app and open to John chapter fifteen,
and I'm going to be reading from verses one through eight.
Verse one says, this is Jesus talking. I am the
true grape vine, and my father is the gardener. He
cuts off every branch of mine that doesn't produce fruit,
(10:40):
and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit, so
they will produce even more. You have already been pruned
and purified by the message I have given you. Remain
in me, and I will remain in you. For a
branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine,
and you cannot be fruit unless you remain in me. Yes,
(11:03):
I'm the vine and you are the branches. Those who
remain in me and I in them will produce much fruit.
For a part from me, you can do nothing. Anyone
who does not remain in me is thrown away like
a use's branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into
a pile.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
To be burned.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
But if you remain in me and my words remain
in you, you may ask for anything you want, and
it will be granted. When you produce much fruit, you
are my true disciples, and this brings great glory to
my father. This brings me to my first point. Jesus
is the true source. In Verse one, Jesus says, I
(11:45):
am the true grape vine, and my father is the gardener.
The vine represents a source. We are all looking and
craving for true life, true love, true peace, and the
world represents with many sources. It could be drugs, it
could be relationships, it could be people could rely on
(12:09):
food for happiness and joy. But only in Jesus can
we find true life. And only in Jesus can we
find what we are truly searching for. In John chapter four,
Verse sixteen, Jesus says, I am the Way, the Truth,
and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me. The world offers many vines, but it's only
(12:31):
when we're connected to Jesus, the true vine, that we
have and find true love, true peace, true joy, true comfort,
and true security. Many people live without having life. I'm
gonna say that again. Many people they live, but they
(12:52):
don't have life. Life comes from living in Jesus. Life
comes when you're connected to Jesus, and he is the
true source of life.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Verse two.
Speaker 7 (13:06):
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn't produce fruit,
and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so
they will produce even more. There are two types of branches.
There's fruitful branches and there's unfruitful branches. My second point
is unfruitful branches are cut off from the vine, and
fruitful branches are pruned. Now here's the difference. Unfrufoled branches
(13:30):
are those who appear connected to Jesus the True Vine,
but are not truly abiding in him. Just because the
branch looks beautiful and because it's living, it doesn't mean.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
It bears fruit.
Speaker 7 (13:42):
When we don't produce fruits spiritually, we are cut off
from the vine. We are cut off from the true source.
And when we are cut off from the true source,
we spiritually begin to die. Now, fruitful branches are those
who are connected to Jesus the Vine and produce fruit.
When we are connected to divine and when we produce
(14:03):
fruits spiritually, God will begin to prune us so we
can produce even more fruit. So how do we know
what it means to be pruned? God ruins us through conviction.
God will use conviction to remove anything in our lives
that hinders our spiritual growth, and anything that prevents us
(14:23):
from producing even more fruit. Such things that the enemy could.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Use is sin.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
It could be pride, making us rely on our own
making us trust in ourselves. Wrong friends, It could be
wrong influences. There are two ways that God convicts us.
The first way is through the Word of God. It's
through the daily bread. The Bible is our spiritual mirror.
And the second way is through the Holy Spirit, which
(14:50):
lives in each and every one of you. When God
prunes us through conviction, our job is to respond with
humility and with surrender. The unfruitful branches that reject God's
pruning are the ones that get cut off. The reason
why sometimes we reject God's pruning is because of pride,
(15:13):
and God cannot pruin the pride when we are prideful,
when we rely on our own understanding, God is not
able to take the things that are hurting us because
we hold on to it. People that allow God to
prune them are the people that trust God. David says
in psalmone thirty nine, Search me, o, God, and know
(15:35):
my heart, Test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point
out anything in me that offends you. And lead me
along the path of everlasting life. David was humble enough
to ask God to prune him. He knew the power
behind the pruning, and he knew that when God prunes him,
(15:58):
he will become even more ruthful. Some of us, we
need to stop asking God for more power and we
need to start asking God for more pruning. And my
third point is if the devil can't defeat you, he
(16:20):
will distract you. One of the ways he will try
to distract you is to make you distrust God. When
we don't trust God, we begin to reject this pruny.
The devil's goal is to make sure that you are
cut off from the vine. His goal is to make
sure that you're cut off from the true source of life,
the true source of joy and love. And he wants
(16:41):
to distract us by making us distrust God, distrust that
God's ways are higher than our ways, that his plans
are better than our plans. And one way the devil
does that is by convincing us that we don't need pruny.
And that's when pride comes in. He will try to
convince you that you don't need God, that you don't
need the daily bread, the word of God that you
(17:03):
don't need to surround yourself with godly people and godly
influences that will build you up because the devil is
scared of fruitful Christians. People that are connected to God
to the vine and produce fruit are threat to the
kingdom of darkness. Leonard Revenhill said, if you're not being
challenged by the enemy, you might not be challenging him.
(17:25):
Most of the attacks of the enemy come because the
enemy is trying to stop us from attacking him. When
we stay connected to Jesus, when we accept his pruning,
we begin to produce fruit that will threaten the enemy. Now,
one type of branch resists God's pruning and is destroyed
by the works of the enemy, and the other type
(17:47):
accepts God's pruning and destroys the works of the enemy.
So what's your type? Now, let's welcome Jus sway to
the stage.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
Good morning church. Could we give a round of applause
one more time for Sarah for the amazing word she
just gave Come home well, Good morning, hungry gen church.
How many of us are blessed to be in the
House of God today? Amen? Man, Family services. They excite
me so much because we are literally seeing the next
(18:23):
generation be raised up. Amen. We are literally seeing the
next group, the next generation of pastors, worship leaders, the
next campus pastors, the next people that will go out
into their schools, the next people that will go out
into their workplaces and make a difference. Amen. One of
our unique characteristics here at Hungry Gen is that we
(18:45):
believe in the raising up of the next generation, that
they will be the reinforcements to our pastors now, that
they will be not the replacements, but that the reinforcements,
and one day we will see an end time revival
through this generation. Amen. Amen, I have the privilege of
sharing a word with you guys today, and this word
has been on my heart for quite a while. And
the title of my message today is the choice of
(19:07):
what you carry. Somebody say, the choice of what you carry?
And I'll be reading today from the Book of Matthew,
chapter twenty six, verses thirty six to forty one, and
it says this. Then Jesus went with them to the
olive grove called gitsemone, and he said sit here while
I go over there to pray. He took Peter and
Zebede's two sons, James and John, he became anguished and distressed.
(19:31):
How many of us have also sometimes in our season,
or maybe you're in your life, and have become anguished
and distressed. By show of hand, we could be real here,
we could be honest, he told them. Jesus told them,
my soul is crushed with grief to the point of death.
Stay here and keep watch with me. Then he went
on a little bit further and bowed his face to
the ground, praying, my father, if it is possible, let
(19:53):
this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet
I want your will. Somebody say your will to be done,
not mine. Then he returned the disciples and found them asleep.
He said to Peter, couldn't you watch with me even
for an hour? Keep watch and pray so that you
will not give into temptation for the spirit of willing.
But the body is weak. So we see hearing this story,
(20:15):
how Jesus he was right around. He was right around
the corner from crucifixion. He was right around the point
of where he was about to be nailed to the cross.
And we see in this story how Jesus was anguished
even to the point of death. This was the most anguishing,
distressing moment in the life of Jesus. But I want
you to pay attention to what he does in this passage.
(20:37):
He runs to the Father. He is at his lowest point.
And maybe you're here today and you might be in
that moment of distress. You might be in that moment
of anguish, you don't know where to go to, You
might be between a rock and a hard place. But
I want to encourage you today, run to the Father.
Do not give in to fatigue, which brings me to
the first point that I have. It says you have
(20:58):
a choice to make when you become weary. You could
run to the Father or give in to fatigue. If
you don't pray, you will become pray the devil. The
Bible says that the devil is looking, and he's a
roaring line, and he's prowing around on whom to devour.
And so the disciples here, they were asleep his closest followers,
Jesus while he was praying, his closest followers were asleep,
(21:20):
and they couldn't keep their eyes open because they were exhausted,
they were fatigued. Sometimes we become so spiritually tired that
we can't even keep our bibles open or our hearts
open to what God has to say. And you see,
choosing to rest in anything other than God's presence, choosing
to rest and anything other than at the feet of
(21:40):
Jesus when you're anguished and running to him, just like
Jesus gave this example in the word, choosing to rest
in anything other than that is like choosing to rest
and sleep on the floor when there's a bed right
next to you. You see, Jesus promises to gives us.
The Jesus promises to give us the quality rest, the
good rist, the temper pedic type of rest, the rest
that will not leave your back aching in the morning.
(22:03):
You see, a lot of the time we run to
other things for rest, and instead of rest, it leaves
us more broken. Instead of rest, it leaves us more tired.
You see, you could find anything as your rest. You
could even I don't know who's this for today, but
you could even produce more work and think that you're
gonna rest in more work, Or you could think that
you're gonna rest in an addiction. You think you're gonna
(22:24):
rest in the repeated cycle of sin. But let me
tell you today, when you feel fatigue. You have a
choice to run to the Father. Amen. Choosing to rest
in anything other than God is like choosing to sleep
on the floor when there's a bed right next to you.
God is always readily available for you to rest in Him. Amen,
You will not find rest in what you have been
(22:45):
replacing God with. True rest is only found in Jesus.
My second point is this is that we could choose
to carry our cross daily or carry our burdens daily
as well. The Book of Luke chapter nine, verse twenty
three says, then Jesus said to the crowd, if any
of you wants to be my follower, how many followers
or Jesus do I have in this place? Come on,
raise your hand. If any of you wants to be
(23:06):
my follower, you must give up your own way, take
up your cross daily, and follow me as believers. It
is our responsibility, it is our duty to pick up
our cross daily. Matthew chapter eleven, verse twenty eight says this.
Then Jesus said, come to me, all of you who
are weary and keV carry heavy burdens. This is an
invitation to somebody today. Come to me. Jesus is saying,
(23:29):
come to me and I will give you rest. Take
my yoke upon you, Let me teach you. We cannot
teach ourselves. We cannot be taught by the agenda and
the culture of this world. We have to be taught
by the Holy Spirit. You see, the Holy Spirit is
the greatest teacher that you could ever have. The Holy
Spirit will teach you things that only your spirit knows,
(23:52):
that only your spirit kid attests to, and kid correctly
received by him. If we are born by the spirit,
that so received by the Spirit. Amen, Jesus said, come
to me, take my yoke, Let me teach you, because
I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy,
(24:12):
and the burden I give you is like. See Jesus
invites us to carry his burden, a burden that will
not break us, but a burden that will build us,
A burden that will not break our back, but instead
build our spirit and build us enough to carry our problems.
And when you rest in him, friend, I will tell
you this, it is the best rest that you will
ever received. You see, in this life we can choose
(24:34):
our difficult Let me explain. These are a few examples
that you know very common examples. Let me let me
share them with you, just to see if maybe you
resonate with one of them. It says, finding time to
go to a life group is difficult. Well so is
not having a community. Choose your difficult, you see. Finding
time to enconnure God daily is difficult. Well so is
(24:58):
not hearing from the Holy Spirit. You're difficult, you see.
Living a holy life is hard, but well so are
the consequences of sin, and so are the consequences of
when you indulge in sin. You see, God is telling
us choose your difficult. Choose to carry the cross. When
you're a Christian, carrying the cross is an identification of
our Savior. Can I get an amen? And so we
(25:20):
could choose to carry our cross daily or carry our
burdens daily. Choose your difficult. I pray you choose your
difficult here this morning. You see. Life as a Christian
isn't always going to be easy, but Jesus promises to
teach us how to rest in him. I love this
quote by Pastor of lad It says, prayer doesn't change God,
it changes things, and even when it doesn't change things,
(25:43):
it changes you. You see, one of the questions that I've
been getting most recently by our youth and even a
lot of young adults and a lot of new people
in their faith. And it's one of those things that
God really has to take you through in order for
God to teach you. Is jus suit when I pray,
or when people pray for me, or when I'm going
(26:04):
through a hard time. I don't feel anything in this generation.
And we have been raised up in a generation where
even our faith could be based on feelings, even our
faith could be based on emotions, and we make almost
every decision based on emotions. We eat, what we dress,
what relationship we get into. And so I want my
generation to know that faith is not based on feelings.
(26:25):
You know, sometimes the things around you won't change, But
God sees every prayer. In Matthew six, it says, pray
to your father who is in the secret place, and
your father, who sees in secret, will reward you publicly.
What does that mean is that the things around you
probably might not change right away, But I promise you
that God sees that prayer, and I promise you that
God is faithful and just that He will answer that
prayer eventually. Amen, and so I truly, truly believe in
(26:48):
this that Father who sees in secret will reward as publicly.
The Bible says, count it all joy when faced with
many trials of all kinds. But the testing of your
faith produces patience. This is something wrong written by Paul.
Paul was in prison. Paul was whipped for the gospel.
Paul was a man of suffering, and the Bible says
that Jesus was also a man of suffering and sorrow.
(27:10):
And so Paul says, here, count it all joy. That's
crazy to even think about. Why would you count all
joy when you're faced with trials of all kinds? Why
because the testing of your faith. I don't know if
you're in this place, and your faith might be testing
in this place. But the testing of your faith is
producing patience. Somebody say, I'm being produced. Patience is being
produced in my life. Somebody say, patience is being produced
(27:31):
to me. Somebody turned to your neighbor and say, patience
is being produced in you. Come on, and the patient.
The Bible says, the patience. Let patience have its perfect work.
Once you have patience, and once you have God, Man,
you could go through anything. You could turn to you know,
it's biblical. David, he fought the line, he fought the bear,
so when he fought Goodie, He's like, Hey, I already
(27:52):
went through the line. I already went through the bear. Man.
This thing is not a piece of cake. Why because
I know who I am in God, I know my identity,
and I know that the patience and the thing that
God has brought me through, I could do it again. Amen. Amen.
And the last point number three, Jesus transforms what we trade.
In Psalms thirty, verse eleven says this, you have turned
(28:12):
my mourning into joyful dancing. Come on, has anybody been
turned from mourning into joyful dancing?
Speaker 2 (28:17):
And this place?
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Come on, anybody have a testimony of the goodness of
God in this place? Come on, It says you have
turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away
my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy. You
see in the world, if anybody owns a car here,
you see, the minute you drive that car off the lot,
what happens. Value goes down, and a lot of the
same thing happens to our hearts and our lives. Where
(28:39):
the minute that this life says that you are used.
Maybe you have been used by people. Maybe your heart
has been used by a lot of people. Maybe you
feel in this place that your value has gone down.
This is the world mentality that when you are used,
your value goes down. But see, in the Kingdom of
God is different. In the world, you trade in something
used and its value goes down. But in the Lord,
(29:00):
you trade in your heart that could have also been used,
and his value does not go down. You see, God
does not value you based on the mistakes that you
have made. He values you based on the price that
he paid. And you are priceless. Somebody say, I am priceless.
I am bought by the blood. Come on, somebody, you
are bought by the blood of Jesus. You are priceless.
God doesn't value based on the mistakes. His love covers
(29:23):
a multitude of sins. Instead of your value going down,
your value actually increases. You become a son and daughter
of the Most High. You become a royal pries set.
You become God's chosen in his prized possession. Amen. And
so today I pray that you will choose to carry
the cross, that you will choose to find rest in Jesus,
(29:44):
and you will choose to live in a mindset of
God transforming your life, not in a mindset of me
not being valuable. Amen. Amen. Well, God bless you guys,
and could we please put our hands together for next speaker?
Speaker 6 (29:55):
Keana, Hello, good afternoon church. How are you guys doing today?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Good?
Speaker 6 (30:08):
My name is Keana. I am going to be a
senior in Tijuana High School and finishing.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Up my last year at CBC. Come on, so.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
This message. I've actually had this message for a month now,
and I actually wrote this message during Memorial weekend. We
were coming back from our trip in Packwood and there
was no service in the car and it was a
long drive, and I remember that my plan was just
put my headphones in and listen to worship and.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Fall asleep, right, But God had other plans.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
So as I was putting my playlists on, the first
song that came up was Fear of the Lord by
Mercy Culture, and immediately I just felt the Holy Spirit
speaking into me. So I opened up my laptop and
I started writing. So the title of my message is
we want the Fear of the Lord. And this message
is based off of the obedience that we need to
(31:12):
have not just the obedience in our Father, but the
obedience and our mentors and our pastors and the people
around us. So what does the Bible say about having
fear of the Lord? And Psalms thirty four nine, it says,
fear the Lord you his holy people, for those who
fear him lack nothing. In Proverbs one seven, it says,
(31:34):
the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Without the fear of
the Lord, we act without instruction, and we act in
our rebellion, which that's not how it works.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Without the fear of the Lord, we have.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
No discipline and we have no care for anything. So
that is why it is so important and it crucial
for all of us to act in that obedience. So
my first point is just like how parents discipline their kids,
it applies to our father. In Isaiah eleven to two,
it says the spirit of the Lord will rest on him,
(32:15):
the spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the spirit of
counsel and of might, the spirit of knowledge, and the
fear of the Lord.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Through the fear of the Lord, we.
Speaker 6 (32:25):
Gained the understanding, and we gain the knowledge of what
is right and what is wrong. This is the book
of life. It tells us the instruction, and it tells
us what to do, what not to do, what path
to take, what path not to take, And if we
stray away from that, we lead to sin. And God
does not want that for his children. The way I
(32:48):
learned obedience was through my parents. I had that example
when I was little. I learned obedience through my parents.
I grew up in a Christian church all my life,
and I've never saw my parents cause I've never saw drink.
I've never saw them smoke. They've had patience for us.
They taught us love, and they taught us what real,
real godly love was is. And through that, from such
(33:13):
a young age, I knew what was right and what
was wrong. So at a young age, I always we
through middle school. Around there, I always there's something called fomo,
which is fear of missing out. And I always thought
that I was missing out of this. I was always
missing out of the hangouts, missing out of this.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
But in reality, I wasn't.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
Missing out of nothing, because at a young age, I
already knew what my identity was. I already knew that
I was set apart from a young age that my
identity was not in the world, but my identity was
through Christ and through that since I was obedient, not
(33:53):
in just my parents, because one of the ten commandments
is honor your father and mother. Through honoring my parents,
through honoring my father, I was rewarded and I was
giving blessings. I got through middle school with about three
point eight average. High school, I kept on going. I
received a scholarship, and that was one thing that I
was praying for for God to provide. And when God,
(34:15):
when you follow God, God will provide and through those
through that obedience, I was rewarded because I know that
God doesn't play games, so you should never ever dabble
in the world. And one John two fifteen through sixteen
it says, do not love the world or anything in
(34:36):
the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the
Father is not in them.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
For everything in the.
Speaker 6 (34:41):
World, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life comes not from the Father
but from the world. So just because something looks good,
it doesn't mean it's good for you. It's like those
who are lactose intolerant. You see ice cream, you see
that sour kreim mount talk goes that she's on that cheezburger.
(35:02):
It will upset your stomach later. Or let me put
another perspective. Eve, she ate the forbidden fruit because she
was tempted by the serpent. How many of you guys
are being tempted. You have to resist that temptation and
know your identity in Christ and never settle for less
because he paid a high price. Judas betrayed Jesus for
(35:26):
thirty shackles of silver, and we betray him for free.
So my second point is your worth is in God
and not in the world. The world has nothing to
offer when God can give you all your desires. In
Matthew sixteen twenty six, it says, and what do you
(35:48):
benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your
own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If
you're willing to give up yourself to the world, you're
dabbling in a dangerous scheme. In one Peter five eight,
it says, stay alert, watch out for your great enemy,
the devil. He prowls around like a whirring lion, looking
(36:09):
for someone to devour. We are the prey, and you
can open a little door by something tiny. It can
either be you know, that one drink, that one video,
those friends, that relationship, and there's no time to play
games because God doesn't play games. It comes with a
(36:29):
consequence at the end of the day, or even when
you're going through it. I see a lot of the
times when when we're going through it, we push God
aside when we should be putting Him first, because God
will get you through it. When you're going through it,
pray through it, and he'll get.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
You through it.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
Because there's a song that says, even when I don't
see it, you're working. Even when you don't see God moving,
he is moving. He is preparing you to be the
most high so you can follow the calling that He
has called you to be. And it takes faith. In
(37:11):
the Bible, it says that faith as small as a
mustard seed can move mountains, and it applies to us.
I remember one time my sister, she was coming home
from school and my mom had picked her up and
she came home crying, and we had asked her, why
are you crying, and she had said.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
My friend's going to hell.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
My friend's going to hell, And we were trying to
understand why. So we had asked her, and she had
said that it's because her friend celebrates Halloween. Imagine if
we had that faith like a child. There's a reason
why God says, let the little children come to me.
And if we act in that matter. You know how
(37:53):
mountains can move. It doesn't matter how old or how
young you are.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
God can still use you.
Speaker 6 (37:59):
Whether if you're forty fifty eighteen twelve, it doesn't matter
how young you are. God can still move through you.
In Jeremiah one to five, it says, before I formed
you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born.
I set you apart. I appointed you as a prophet
(38:20):
to the nations. God has called us for a greater
time as this. He has called us to step up
and preach his name. To not be shy, to have
that boldness, and with that, don't compare yourselves to other people.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Do what God wants you to do.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Be obedient to him, and with that He will grant
you your blessing.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (38:47):
With that, I would like to welcome Caleb, good morning,
Hungry Jen, Thank you all for being here, Thank you
for the pastors for giving me this opportunity to speak.
I am fifty ten years old now, but ever since
I was seven, I dealt with fear trying to attack me.
Fear tried to torment me, Fear tried to dictate my life.
(39:09):
And the Lord has shared a lot with me on
how to deal with this and how to fight fear.
So I'd like to share that with you guys today.
The title of my message is fighting fear. The first
thing the Lord taught me is fear comes to torment,
but the Holy Spirit brings peace. How many guys have
felt fear torment you before, panic attacks, the sleepless nights,
the restless days. Fear is a tormentor, and fear is
(39:31):
a liar, but the Holy Spirit brings peace. John fourteen,
verse twenty seven says, I'm leaving you with a gift
peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give
is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be
troubled or afraid in times of fear, in times of
panic or anxiety, invite the Holy Spirit to wash over
your life and give you that much needed peace. If
(39:53):
you're having a panic attack, if you can't sleep at night,
put some worship music on and let the Holy Spirit
wash over you. Because the Holy Spirit is a comforter.
Isaiah sixty six, verse thirteen says, I will comfort you
there in Jerusalem as a mother comforts her child. So
I know if you're experienced panic attacks, I highly recommend
sustaining from caffeine for a period of time. I know
(40:15):
it helped me a lot. For all the coffee lovers,
the energy drink lovers. If your heart's beating fast enough,
you have enough adrenaline.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
The last thing you need is more of that.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
So pray that the Holy Spirit gives you energy and
not caffeine.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
Like I was saying, the piece the Holy Spirit brings
is unmatched. And one thing I want to highlight really
quick is if you're going through spiritual warfare, it's so
important to remain in here, remain in Him, and remain
in here because here is where victory is. When we
remain in Him, the closer we stay to Him in
times of trouble is the closer we stay to victory.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (40:52):
Just to side know, always stay in the Holy Spirit
because Satan will get you when you're vulnerable, when you're
guarded with this, Satan doesn't want to come because he
knows you have the truth. He knows you're ready to fight.
He knows you're not playing games. You're here to win
the war.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (41:08):
My heart truly goes out to anyone dealing with fear.
I know how hard it is. I've been through it
the last seven years. The Lord has showed me so much.
My heart goes out to you. Just keep fighting. It's
not a battle that you can't win. You will win
in the name of Jesus.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
The good news is God's perfect love casts out all fear.
First John four, verse eighteen says there's no fear in love,
but perfect love casts out all fear because fear involves torment.
But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
We love him because he first loved us. And I
was reading this, I'm like, Holy Spirit, what does this mean?
(41:45):
Perfect love casts out all fear? And then he revealed
to me. Ask yourself this question, would God's perfect love
want this for me? Would he want me to feel
this way? What do you want me to act this way?
What do you want me to would he want me
to be this? And if the answer no, fight back
with some scripture and fight back with the truth, because
he wants the best for you. Jeremiah twenty nine verse
(42:06):
eleven says, I know the plans I have for you,
says the Lord plans. All right, let me get to
the verse real quick. I know the plans I have
for you, says the Lord. There are plans for good
and not for disaster, to give you a future and
a hope. Does God's perfect love want this for me?
And fight back with scripture If the answer is no,
that's my second point. Fear comes to confuse, but God's
(42:29):
word brings truth. Like I was saying, ever since I
was seven, the spirit of fear tried to scare me,
to tell me I was gonna turn into something or
be something that would disappoint the people that I love.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
Most.
Speaker 5 (42:40):
Fear loves to place false identities into people's minds to
make them feel like they're not going to be accepted.
A list unworthy, unattractive, mess up, rejected, or abandoned. How
many guys have felt some of those Fear likes to
make you feel like you are not going to be
accepted by placing false identities into your mind. But the
good news is Galatians four, verse seven says, now you
(43:03):
are no longer a slave but God's own child. We
don't have to be a slave to the identities that fear.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Puts in our minds.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
We are God's children, and we have victory, and we
have dominion over what fear tries to put in our
minds because we have the truth. When fear comes knocking
with lies, we have the truth. We have the Word
of God is sharper than any two edged sword.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
So we can.
Speaker 5 (43:23):
Disarm and dismantle every single lie with the truth. Because
out of anything, fear hates the truth, because fear is
a liar, right, fear is a liar.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
Fear hates the truth.
Speaker 5 (43:34):
Aristotle said, fear is pain arising from the anticipation of evil.
How many guys have felt that that anticipation of pain,
the anticipation of evil, that something's gonna happen. Fear is
pain arising from the anticipation of evil. So speak the
truth and believe the truth.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (43:51):
When you feel fear trying to attack you, fight it
with the word of God. God has good plans for you.
He wants to protect you, He wants to keep you safe.
God has such a perfect love for you. He does
not want you to feel fear. So believe in the truth.
Speak the truth, meditate on the truth, and you will
watch as fear crumbles under your feet because we have
(44:12):
victory and we have dominion in the name of Jesus.
And in conclusion, what should I do when fears attacking?
Number One, Invite the Holy Spirit to give you peace.
Invite the Holy Spirit to wash over you. Because the
Holy spirits like a nurturing mother for our lives. The
(44:34):
Holy Spirit gives us love, gives us affirmation, and gives
us peace.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
So stay tight with the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 5 (44:40):
Pray in tongues, put some worship music on, and invite
the Holy Spirit into the atmosphere. Number two, break down
every lie. Fear is trying to feed you with scripture
and with truth. If you're trying to tell you you're not
going to be accepted, you don't know. Oh I am accepted.
I'm accepted in the Kingdom of Heaven. If you're trying
to tell you you're gonna be rejected, you have no friends.
I have the whole Spirit. That's all I need. I
(45:01):
don't need friends. I have the Holy Spirit. If fear
tries to lie, come come combat it with the truth
and with scripture. Amm And the last one has remained
in the spirit in season and out of season in here,
because Satan will get you when you're vulnerable, when your
face is in the Bible. He doesn't like to come
because he knows you got the word of You got
(45:22):
a sort of the spirit that pierces to the vision
of soul and spirit. When you have truth on the
tip of your tongue, Satan does not like to attack
because he.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Knows he's gonna lose.
Speaker 5 (45:31):
So remain in the spirit in season and out of
season of being attacked.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Worship music is so good putting on worship music.
Speaker 5 (45:37):
Upper room, house fires, Bethel music, all just worship music
that just invites the Holy Spirit into the atmosphere. And
one more resource that I love is Lad Savchuk sleep music.
It helped me so much throughout this period of time
that I am thank.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
You, pastor Vlad for that resource.
Speaker 5 (45:53):
It just invites the Holy Spirit into the atmosphere and
gives you that much needed piece. Meditate on the Word
and read the word, have the truth on the tip
of your tongue. Filippion's four verse eight says, and now
your brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts
on what is true and honorable and right and pure
and lovely and admirable, Think about things that are excellent
(46:15):
and worthy of praise. Meditate on the truth, and meditate
on this, and you'll watch as fear crumbles. Amen, thank
you so much. Everyone, please help me. Welcome Pastor Ed
