Best friends, moms, and fearless flippers Kristy Etheredge and Rebecca Franchione join us to talk about their brand new A&E series The Mother Flip, premiering August 16th on A&E’s HomeMade Nation. From risky all-cash deals to turning junkyard houses into jaw-dropping showpieces, these two prove that hustle, heart, and a little bit of Hill Country grit can turn even the roughest property into real estate gold.

About the Show – The Mother Flip In The Mother Flip, best friends and fellow moms Kristy Etheredge and Rebecca Franchione—alongside contractor Roy Salinas—take on Texas Hill Country’s worst homes and flip them into stunning, high-value properties. With all-cash buys, bold renovation plans, and a fearless attitude, they turn neglected, rundown houses into sophisticated showstoppers, splitting the profits three ways.

The series kicks off with "Junkyard Gem", where a promising unlisted property in a prime Austin neighborhood turns out to be a nightmare—think junk piles, overgrown yards, and major repairs needed. But Kristy and Rebecca aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, transforming the disaster into a luxurious, modern home that could fetch a big payday.

Kristy Etheredge – Bio Kristy Etheredge is a Texas Hill Country local with a career spanning over 25 years in marketing, sales, event design, and management. She’s worked with powerhouse brands like the PGA TOUR, NHL, NFL, and SXSW, where she mastered the art of executing high-pressure projects with creativity and precision. Today, Kristy brings that same energy into flipping homes—managing budgets, sourcing salvaged materials, and crafting beautiful, cost-effective designs. A wife and mom of two teenage athletes, Kristy thrives on big challenges and always finds efficient solutions to make visions come to life.

Rebecca Franchione – Bio Rebecca Franchione’s flipping career is fueled by guts, grit, and a sharp eye for deals. After 25 years of moving around the country as the wife of a college football coach, Rebecca embraced a new chapter—divorced, raising three teenagers, and flipping houses at a rapid pace. In just the past year, she’s completed 18 flips, always chasing the thrill of transforming overlooked properties into profitable investments. A published author and community-minded entrepreneur, Rebecca’s hustle is matched only by her fearless approach to design and negotiation. She lives in the Texas Hill Country across the street from Kristy, proving that sometimes your best business partner is also your next-door neighbor.

and Rebecca Frenshoni. They are the stars of the new
A and E series The Mother Flip, premiering August sixteenth
on A and e's Homemade Nation. First and foremost, I
want to say, welcome to the show. How y'all doing
this morning?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
We're doing amazing.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah, we're doing really amazing.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
The kids this is our first day of school in Wimberly,
so they are off to school.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
So the malls are ready to party.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
So let's talk about set in the stage. When you
think about the story how you two met and how
y'all went from being neighbors and friends to flipping homes
together on national TV.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
What has dad been like for y'all, It's just been incredible.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
It's actually been quite a long journey. I think next
week marks three years since I reached out to Joe Weinstock.
I've known him since twenty eighteen and just kind of
took cave him an update. My son and his best
friend had done a Microsoft commercial in twenty eighteen and
got connected with Joe, and I said, hey, by the way,
my best friend and I were flipping houses in the
hill country, and he said that could be a show.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
And now three years later, our show's premiering in two days.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Now, when you think about flip jitters that even exists,
what is your honest first thought when you're walking into
the house for the first time.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
Well, I don't get flip jitters. I get excited. I
don't know if they're jitters. I don't think I've ever
gotten jitters a day of my life. But I know
there's always like red flags. You know, mold is a
huge red flag for Christy and I, Oh, I get.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
The ebgb's, that's for sure.

Speaker 7 (01:53):
I mean, these houses are completely dilapidated, they're old, they're crusty,
there's smelly, and so yeah, I get the eggs and like,
do we really need to even look at this one.

Speaker 6 (02:07):
I'm always very optimistic and think we can transform everything,
and you know, I'm the one with all these brand
ideas with design, and Christy's always reeling me back in.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
So when we go in a house, you know, Broy
looks at.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
The bones and then I go and my brain is
just kind of all these ideas are popping out. And
then Christy always brings her a little budget notebook and
it's like shooting all my ideas down on the instaneously.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Well, you know, I just I just remind her of
all the cost and you know, again, you do have
to be aware of that, like you've got to go
in the house.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
You just got to be aware.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Okay, we can transform this, but are we going to
be able to make money in the law?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
You both have a fearless approach to flipping. I'll compliment
each other with you know, your strengths and and you
look out for each other. What was the biggest gamble?
Do you believe you have taken so far on property?
And how did it turn out?

Speaker 6 (02:57):
You know, I think for us we've done just the
All of our houses have been completely different.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
You think critters, Yeah, because there an episode.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Yeah's a third.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Episode took place in San Marcos and the house was
there were squatters there it just.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Was the foundation needed to be redone. The HVAC.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
We had about all the electrical I mean, just one
thing after another that we couldn't initially see at the
beginning until we started opening up the walls.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
And get this, when we opened up the walls, all
this trash fell out from behind the dry wall because
there were animals, wild animals, you know, raccoons. They go
up there and they had.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Been just going in there for years, and they bring
in items, and so all those items were falling out
of them.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Including a bunch of driver's license, which I thought was hard.
There was a ray of the driver's license.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Oh wow, now that's once against. We're talking to our
guests today, to guests Christine and Rebecca and all about
the other flip. You can catch it on August sixteenth
on a and these homemade Nation. My next question is tristic.
When you think about your friendship, man, there's also business
at the end of the day. Do you ever feel

(04:12):
the pressure or do you guys work out that process
on this all?

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Man, of course we feel the pressure. I mean, you know,
here's the deal about us.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
We are a really good balance and so it certainly
gets heated between us because look, I take my job seriously.
My job is to protect our bottom line, okay, and
so yes it does get heated. But at the end
of the day, when it gets heated, oftentimes we're just
like back in five minutes, right, and we don't even.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Know what our argument was about. So it gets heated
just because I really want us to make money. I mean,
we're moms.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
We're saving up for our kids all college education, you know, everything,
like regular people.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
And so my job is to.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Make sure that we do.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
And for you, Rebecca, you mentioned earlier, you also you
both are raising kids. You're about to have a little
party for a little break one time, hopefully as today
or when you watching it on TV. How do you
keep that business life but also maintain that family style
and making sure that you're have quality time with the kids.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
Well, you know, I have three kids, Christy has two,
and so one thing that became my very best friend
in the fall was the crop pot, and so it was.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Very important to my kids that I made dinner.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
My daughter actually was off to college, my son was
came home from playing college baseball, went to college locally.
And then I have my youngest gunner who's pretty wild,
and so, you know, it was just it was at
the beginning, it was hot.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
We worked, you know, eight ten, twelve hours.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
We had long drives every day.

Speaker 6 (05:48):
But my boys wanted dinner every single night, and so
to me that was important to have a family dinner
no matter how tired I'm tired. I was some nights
I come in it was like nine thirty, ten o'clock
at night. I've been filming all day. It was hot,
and we're working, We're not just talking heads. And the
boys are like, we want chicken fihitas. And I felt
like I couldn't even stand up, but I somehow whipped
up chicken fihitas, and so I learned. After a few weeks, okay,

(06:12):
crop pod and on Sundays, I'm going to prep for
the week.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
But it was just such a great experience, you know, and.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
My daughter being a way to college that was kind
of hard for me. It's my only girl, and so
we stayed in touch with FaceTime and you know, I
sent her little letters in the mail.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
It was just an incredible experience.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Once again, Christy and Rebecca are the stars of the
new A and E series The Mother flipp premier in
August sixteenth or Amy's Homemade Nation. Last question real quick
for you, Christy is, without giving too much away, what
is something that you hope viewers will really gain from
this whole process of seeing you both at work with

(06:51):
flipping houses and living your dream.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Well, I hope viewers will gain how resourceful that you
can be.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
I mean, traditionally a lot of people go to big
box stores, and we have so many ways for viewers
to save money, buy new stuff, but save money.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
And who doesn't need to save money? These days?

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Everything's more expensive, and I know that they will find
solutions in order to save money and budget and be
able to do their own renovations at the home or
be able to even flip.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Houses once again. You can catch this on August sixteenth
on Amy's Homemade Nation, The Motive Flip talking to Chrissy
and Rebecca. Want to say it to you both, thank
you for your time.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Thank you
