(07:55):
Would you stay with me for onesecond while I mentioned our sponsors, and
then I'll do a little interview withyou. Absolutely, you bet all right?
Right on. First, I'd liketo mention our sponsors. A Celebrities
Bar and Grill on Fortieth Street gotlive music over there. Sometimes they got
DJ's, they got karaoke. MaxI Year and his wife Zoeya really want

(08:18):
to do great things in our community. They want people to come there and
have their nine ninety nine stake special, and they want Eric to go in
there and have a strawberry dakiri withtwo shots of rum. Get on in
there, Derek, Now, yeah, Max is a great guy. Please
go in there and try the nineninety nine stakes special and bring the kids
in there and have a nine toninety nine stakes special and everyone can have

(08:39):
a nine ninety nine stakes special rightthere at Celebrities Bar and Krill Fire Marisco's
and Wings that I ate there twicelast week. Let me tell you it's
on Court Street. It's got someincredible Marisco's. I've just recently been a
trying all the different wings they have. So from three to seven during happy
hour they got five percent off anyof the wings they got, and they

(09:01):
got some good wings over their team. But if you like Mariscos, are
you like really spicy sauces on youron your shrimps and and muscles and all
all the all the good stuff, head on over there and try. You
won't regret it. Really good foodright there at Fire Marisco's and Wings on
Court Street. So if you're goingdown d and you see Molly's right there

(09:24):
downtown it's like right behind Mallies. It actually shares a parking lot with them,
so really easy to find right thereby the old City Hall and good
good food. So if you wantdowntown restaurants to stay around, if you
want somewhere to go after the fourdollar regal, uh, send them a

(09:45):
day, right or you ring allthe kids like that's what we did yesterday.
You can just go over to fireMarisco's after and uh and eat some
good grub. Speaking of four dollarDay, I hope you go. Always
went all out and had fun.We went, we went and saw bar
Barbie Barbie. Uh. It washot, so you know, I had

(10:05):
fun watching Barbie. It wasn't akid's movie at all. It had some
really good important points about uh,you know, men and women and and
uh the struggles that women go throughthroughout history kind of associated with Barbie,
and then how the modern day strugglehas changed. I don't know how to

(10:26):
explain it. Can you explain it? Eric? Or like what what?
What? What happened there? Isit all pink? Uh? It's all
pink? Uh. Yeah. Idid think there was a little bit more
deeper existential crisises in a Barbie moviethan I would have thought would originally,
well you you kind of look likeKen. So is that? That is
the nicest thing anyone's ever said tome? Thank you? But but if

(10:48):
you see the movie, you knowthat there's like twenty Kens or like the
fifty Barbies. There's nothing like differentones. I'm ken nuff. Yeah.
I did like that historical aspect ofit, all the different Barbies, and
they gave a little history here orthere, or whether they were discontinued and
the pregnant one got discontinued. Iwas like, oh man, the funny

(11:09):
funny stuff. There was that onewith a sugar Daddy too. I wanted
to kind of look into that becausethey said that one was discontinued. Yeah,
but it was like what sugar daddycandy? Right? Or but I
think the dog's name he had likea pet dog and his dog's name was
sugar. Yeah. Yeah, didyou see that dog that would like actually
poop little round like toys or something. Yeah. I didn't even know that

(11:31):
barbie existed. You know what.I think my older sister had that growing
up. Totally crazy, totally crazy, all right, team, Well,
that that's a little the Barbie said, I have to mention our I love
Sam Bernardino stand Out of the Weekas Jason Lola from Wax Skateboards. Let
me tell you, this guy isa cool cat. He sets up things
for the kids when it comes toskateboarding, gives them all kinds of free

(11:54):
things. He's helped so many peoplelearn how to mark it and make shirts
and all the different yeah, yeah, all the different things that it takes
to sell shirts. And also he'shelped me so much. He actually makes
the graphics logos for your shirts. And then like he also goes to things

(12:16):
like he was like instrumental and tryingto make the Bryce Haynes skate Park over
on East Street, like they weregonna name it after some officers, just
the Bryce Haynes. And then likethe he got he got a renamed for
after a skater. Oh I'm tryingto remember his name, oh Man.
But but anyways, he's a greatguy, does great art local artists,

(12:39):
goes to all the events. SoI want to thank you, Jason.
And that's put together by Ben Chavisand First Lineage Site Services, and he
just wants to help our community. So by sponsoring this little segment, he
helps showcase local businesses, people andnon for profits and if you would like
to be one or you know somebodythat that should be, let me know

(13:01):
and uh we'll make them stand outof the week. So hit me up.
We still got you there, Steve. I'm I'm yeah, you got
me? Yeah, Okay, Okay, I hope I'm not blabbing too much,
But I got one more thing. Can you can you stay stay with
me through this little bit of history? Absolutely all right? Okay. So
I'm a history buff, Steve,and uh I really care a lot about

(13:26):
about our local history and protecting itthe best we can. All the way
from you know, the the fossilsthat are in our deserts in our areas
to uh more, a modern historyfifty years or more older. Today we're
going to I guess I'll read aboutuh here. We got it right here.

(13:50):
The father of San Bernardino County JeffersonHunt referred by historians as a father
of San Bernardino County. He's seeminglyat a hand in just about every major
happening during the area's early development, and today his name is honored by one
of the San Fernandino's elementary schools. The man's name is Jefferson Hunt born in

(14:11):
Bracken Counton, Kentucky, oh Okay. Hunt became a well respected member of
the Church of Latter day Saints. With the outbreak of the Mexican American War
in eighteen eighty six, he andalong with two of his sons, joined
the Mormon Battalion. The elder Huntquickly gained such admirations from his comrades that
he was elected captain of Company A. Although the fighting in California ceased by

(14:35):
the time the battalion arrived, themen were credited for blazing the first bonafide
road between Salt Lake and southern California. This invaluable experience also turned Hunt into
one of the most famous guides ofthe West. After the battalion's discharge,
Hunt journeyed Hunt journey back to SaltLake. In December eighteen forty seven,
however, the Mormon Battalion veteran headedback to the Southland with a group of

(14:58):
men and purchased the newly grain andpurchased much needed grain and other supplies from
Isaac Williams at the Santa Anna delChino. The grueling forty five day horseback
ride took them through Coyote Canyon andNarrow Gorge in the Cahoon Pass near today's
I fifteen northbound south truck lanes. Then, in eighteen forty nine, Captain

(15:22):
Hunt led a wagon train made upof mostly gold seekers to the Golden State.
Foolishly, a number of caravan membersturned away from Hunt's direction in search
of a short cut, only tofind out firsthand why Death Valley is called
Death Valley. Those who stayed withthe experienced leaders safely made it through the
Come Pass onto their desired destinations. With all of this trailblazing experience under his

(15:46):
belt, When a large contingent ofMormon families from Salt Lake came to California
destined to establish the settlement of Samernardinoin eighteen fifteen one, it was only
fitting that Hunt played a major roleas a guide for the four hundred mile
trek. Very cool stuff, andI'll read the last little bit here.

(16:07):
In eighteen fifty three, the Mormonsaw the need to construct a wagon road
that would directly link Sambonnadino with LosAngeles. Jeff Daley claimed in an interview
with a Samondino sign many years agothat this was an innovative grandfather that he
that was his innovative grandfather, JeffersonHunt, who was in charge of building
the right away. The road ranparallel to the newly surveyed baseline and approximately

(16:32):
three miles south and joined the CahoneRoad at Kucamunga Ranch. In eighteen fifty
three, Hunt was elected as oneof the two members to represent Los Angeles
canon County and the state legislature. His most formidable task was to present a
petition asking for the division of Samonnadinofrom Los Angeles County. The act was
passed in April of that year, and Hunt was made representative of the new

(16:56):
sam Bernadino County. A year later, April April thirteenth, eighteen fifty four,
thanks to urging of Assemblyman Hunt, the city of San Bernardino was incorporated.
So that was from creating the gatecity San Bondano, California by Nicholas
Cataldo. I always liked that littlepart. You know, we have founders

(17:17):
in our history and uh people thatour schools are named after. I mean
last week we did Paris Hill afterFred Paris. I mean, there's a
lot of famous people that we youknow, see their names all the time
and we don't even know anything aboutthem. Most people don't know that Waterman.
Waterman Avenue is named after our formergovernor right from from our area.

(17:41):
So like he owned up Waterman Canyonand that was his place that he would
go to rest. And uh,he owned the Waterman Canyon and you can
go through with Watermancanyon for a longtime. All right, Steve, I'm
done blabbering about history. Did youenjoy us some of that little history tidbits?
I did? Yeah, I did. I'm a third generation San Bernardinian.

(18:03):
Is that what we call ourselves?Yes, third generation, So I
have a lot of history that goesback here in the valley. Well,
well can you can you can youadd a little bit before we move on?
Are you sure sure? I'll adda little bit to that. My
uh, my grandfather came over herefrom Mexico. He rowed with Pancho Villa.
He saw my grandmother out of herbedroom window when she was thirteen,

(18:26):
came into San Bernardino and uh,you know, picked fruit all that stuff
till he got older, and thenhe ended up being a forty five year
man at the Santa Fe shops. They settled in on the west side over
on Union Street in Mount Vernon. And you know, so that that portion
of history, that's my family. My dad I started there, and then

(18:48):
my mother started a family. Mygrandfather, he came from the Philippines on
a boat into San Francisco, workedat the mission in for years back in
the thirties, and then he endedup being the pet chef at the California
Hotel in downtown San Ardino for twentytwo years until he retired. So I
have a lot of a lot offamily history that's tight tight end deeply to

(19:12):
the city of Sambardandino and the missionin. And oh man, that is
really cool. Are you writing abook on all this I have. I
have a lot of a lot ofmemoirs on that. I've been asking you
that because there's so much. Youknow, I only went into a portion
of that. You know, we'rewe're a melting pot. I'm basically four

(19:33):
nationalities. So my family you representthe Philippines, Germany and Hungary. That
represents around that Samardadino is the biggestmelting pot. I always tell everyone I
go, that's why we have thebest food. We have all ethnic foods.
I'm like, yes, I loveit. I was. I was

(19:56):
getting hungry when you were talking aboutthe mauricecos It's like, tell me anytime
and I'll be your wing man.Yea. And they definitely need a wing
man over there with the twenty fivepercent off wings, right, that's it,
man, call me. I'll gladlybe your wing man with that kind
of history. So do you doyou live in San Barnadino or you live

(20:18):
over in kype Bar. I livedin San Bernadino for basically my whole I'm
almost small of my adult life, and then I moved from San Ardino when
I was about twenty six, Imoved into Highland and Tanna Highland. I
was a general building contractor traveling musicianand you know what that was what I
call one of the smart musicians. You keep a job when the gigs aren't

(20:41):
going. Oh yes, yes,you know you can function and then uh
so. I also later on endedup being an elected official in San Bardino.
In Highland, I held the oppositeEast Valley water district for sixteen years,
so I won four general elections andI got to go back through a
lot of state water history with theState Water Tour and how the water came

(21:04):
into the valley and water rights andall that stuff, which was very interesting
because when you're when you're in intowater, it's all about law and you
know, like Mark Twain said, whiskeys are drinking waters for fighting, and
you know, we had to beup on our law and our our history
to protect all of our water rightsfor you know, future generations. So

(21:26):
that that's been fantastic too, youknow, being uh, that's part of
the history in the valley for protectingour water, and that's that's a really
interesting aspect of our history. Andin fact, some of those water wars
are fought with you know, deedsand stuff from the eighteen hundreds. It's
going to be interestingly, now we'rekind of out of the drought for the
time being, but I don't thinkthat's gonna, unfortunately, gonna last very

(21:51):
long. And I believe that theyou know, California water wars is gonna
it's starting to heat up. Howhow they're going to distribute this water to
so everybody gets them. So that'swhen you go all the way back to
the days of Bob Holkem when hewas mayor and attorney, and Bob Holkemb
saved our water rights when Metropolitan andall those people came over and or knew
that we had so much water herein the basin and they were trying to

(22:15):
take it. And you know, the two main wells at Norton Air Force
Base belonged to the city of Riverside. They came all the way out here
and sunk their wells and years ago. So that just tells you people were
really we're we're really looking out fortheir own and trying to take all our
water rights out of the basin. And I had many show stories about that.

(22:37):
I had a show on that isBunker Hill right where they basically yeah,
they basically built their own pumps andlines now so we can't shut anything
off. But the thing was,I wanted to look back into those accounts
and see the actual deal and see, like, wait a second, they
were taking this water when we hadour tees and wells shooting water up out

(23:00):
of the ground. Yeah, solike why do they get our water now?
Why can't they get their own water? Oh, it's calcified and too
much mineral. Well, who caresat your water? You get that over
there, we had that East ValleyWaters District up, I mean the basins
tilted. So we're up on ourarea starts at the mouth of the Seven
Oaks Dam, which is the SanAnto River. So we had wells,

(23:23):
spreading ponds, and all the waydown at where the old post office was,
you know, the basements were floodingbecause all that water was rising.
And that's you know, the basin. You could drill down ten feet and
hit water. But up in ourarea, we drilled down about two hundred
feet and we had another hundred feetof water that was about five hundred years

(23:44):
old that was tested and we wouldhave never ran dry with our basin.
And there was a lot of peoplewho did their homework and that's why they
tried so hard to get our water. Yeah, and I can. I'm
a former archaeologist and actually in thatarea around seven Oaks down, I did
a lot of surveys because just youknow, just recently built up some huge
retention basins to put that water backinto the ground there, Yes, yeah,

(24:10):
and like like that's say, that'sright, put it back in.
And that was one of the horriblethings that happened. We were all part
of the Seven Oaks Dan project backthen, and when that came to fruition,
and we had the first big rain. It brought down all that junk
from up on the foot hills, and then that clogged up our basins,
so there was no percolation for acouple of years and they had to clean

(24:32):
that up. I'm sure you wereaware of that. So that's when almost
every agency wanted to get into litigationwith the Army Corps of Engineers. But
you know, let's say his senseworked itself out in Nature's taking care of
that. But wow, well whowould have thought I'd be talking water like
I know, yeah, just justjust part of my past history. Well,

(24:55):
I had to thank Mark Westwood forsetting this up. I'm sorry everyone,
I know you. I wanted tohear an interview with Mark Westwood the
superstar locally here, but uh,I'm gonna bring him on, I know,
the show in the future. He'sreally tired today. He worked hard,
so well, well we'll let himoff the hook. But this is
uh so, tell us a littlebit about about your band, Steve,

(25:18):
Like, how long you've been playingmusic? What do you play? What
do you you see? I've beenuh yeah, I'm a I'm a lead
singer, professional entertainer. I've I'vebeen performing for over forty years. That's
been my uh, you know, that's that's that's been my passion. Uh.
I've done two solo albums and sixalbums with the group The Lady James

(25:41):
and Stee. I still have alot of stuff in circulation and my last
album was a gospel album and itjust got the single got released about six
months ago, so we're streaming worldwidepretty good. That's called Close to You
under under my stage named Stevie Eve, and that's a great album. I
was very fortunate to do that witha lot of Grammy Award winners, Bill

(26:03):
Champ went from the group Chicago,Gary Bias from Earth Winning fire All Grammy
Award winners, and Snoop Doggs producerPatrick Bolton, and then I had background
singers from the Jonas Brothers and DemiLevado. So it was a great,
greatly produced album by my producer,Gary Mets, and I'm real proud of
that. But what I had calledin to talk about tonight was my band

(26:26):
and we are having a fabulous tributeto Tony Bennett. He was a friend
of mine and you know, Icall him mister Bennett and was one of
the classiest, classiest and attendants you'dever met, and never really had a
bad word for anybody. And Ilearned a lot from him. And the
last time I got to see himperform live was we had a tribute to

(26:48):
Frank Sinatra. It was the tenthanniversary of the Cerritos Performing Arts Center and
Tony Bennett, Mister Bennett, hisband, Frank Sinatra Junior, and Nancyson
put on the show. It wasfabulous, And you know, I just
got to a pick Tony's brain forthree hours at our party afterwards, and

(27:10):
he helped guide me through one ofmy best nights. I did the Civic
Light Operates sturges and did his renditionof Flying Me to the Moon acapella and
then with the big band, andit was fabulous. So I just have
a lot of a lot of respectfor mister Bennett. And I have my
band and six girls called these Sistersand biz Dancers, and they're gonna be

(27:30):
with top hats and canes and we'regonna put that tribute on at the Calamasa
Event Center this Thursday from seven tonine thirty. It's all free, it's
out on the golf course. Wehave a lit up stage and a natural
grass amphitheater and everybody in the communityis welcome. It's going to be a
blast. How do you go aboutgetting tickets to the concert? Or This

(27:52):
concert is completely free, it's opento the public. We do a I'm
also the president of the Calamasa CulturalPerforming Arts Association, and we put on
eight shows through the months of Julyand August, and then this is our
last show, so we we dothe biggest show for last. I also
have Full Circle Live, who's fromthe Yamama Casino and the Palms in Vegas.

(28:18):
I've seen that. I've seen themseveral times over at the at the
Two Cut Lounge and Lounge and theirleap Finger And Carla Rodriguez is a great
friend of mine. She is awesome. I love Carla. They're gonna open
up for me on Thursday. Andshe can sing. She can sing,
that's for sure. And her sonand her son short dog, Short dog,

(28:41):
the Native man, he can singtoo, short dog, oh Man.
And yeah, and her husband thedrummer. He's great, is that
Robert, Yes, I have adrummer. He's fantastic. I love,
I love, I love to gothere. And me and my girl from
will just go dancing because they playold school, so like, you know,

(29:03):
get your dance all for us elders. I mean, I'm forty seven,
but I was gonna ask Steve,I feel like I've seen your name
before. Are you on Facebook?Or yeah, I'm on Facebook? Are
you friend? Are you album circulated? Are you friends with me? Are
your friends? Are you friends withRobert Porter? Robert told her, I

(29:26):
don't know I've heard that name,but I think I'm like, I swear
i've seen your name before. Iknow there's an is es Morelda the Gretty
here in San Fonnardino, but likehe she's married to my little brother marcool
boy. Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, I know them very
well. So yeah, so likeit's a small world here. Let me

(29:48):
tell you maybe I've seen you that'sconnected dance in San Bernardino, you know,
and that's that's It's gonna be sucha fun show out there. We
invite you to bring the kids.We have you know, full bars or
food vendors. We have jumpers forthe kids, and you know, the
lawn and everything. It holds aboutnine hundred people comfortably and you can come

(30:08):
in and sit down ring blankets, and lawn chairs, and Full Circle will
come on from seven till eight.I'll do my tribute from eight to eight
forty five, and then Full Circlewill close it out from nine to ninety
five. And that will be CarloRodriguez's last performance. She's retiring. Oh

(30:29):
that that'll be her last singing performance. Oh man, yeah, miss her.
But we'll still you know, sheshe's involved in all the stuff over
it it samon well, so we'llstill see her around, I'm sure.
Yeah. But uh but like man, Full Circle, I've so are they
gonna get a new singer? Youhave any gossip on that or I think

(30:51):
the guys will probably go at itby theirselves for a while and then they'll
and then they'll get new singers later. Okay, all right, well Full
Circle Live, thank you for everythingin Carlo Rodriguez. I mean incredible music
I have, you know, likehave bands that actually play around our area.
It's so important, and it's likeSan Bernardino has all this talent and

(31:17):
the local area has all this talent, and a lot of times we don't
go out to these events. Sowe need to get to these events team
and uh, we gotta show,Yeah, we gotta go show Steve Stevie
e some love here. Now.Let's well, I got your tell us
a little bit about what it's like. You're living over in Kella Mason,

(31:37):
Nour. Actually I'm right on theborder at Cala Mason. It's at Tuckwit
Canyon Country Club. We live. The mother was moving into Kalamaza, but
across the streets Kalamasa and on myside of the streets Bomat. Okay,
All right, yeah, we're right. Yeah, So I'm pretty centrally located.
If we have gigs and you know, Vegas or Loughlin or La it's

(32:02):
you know, it's not a nota bad turnaround and you know, just
looking at a few hundred miles eachway. And my band tries to mainly
stay in the Tri state area, you know, Nevada, California and Arizona.
Do you travel a lot? Realwell, do you travel a lot?
Or is it it's been slowing downbecause I've been doing a lot of
recording the last the last two years, and then a lot of the band,

(32:27):
you know, we're older guys, and a lot of my band is
getting older. Bill Champlin, who'sdoes my keyboards and vocals with me,
he was in the group Chicago forthirty years, and he left Chicago few
years back, and then Gary biasedthe runs a horn section. He's from
Earth Wind and Fire. And Gary'sout on the road probably a one hundred
dates a year with Earth Wind andFire. And then when he's back and

(32:50):
he's on the road with us,and we have a great four piece horn
section and just some you know, monster players. So my big touring band
is ten pieces. And then mostof the other times I'll probably do a
quartet, you know, when I'mat Pella Casino or Morongo. You know,
same thing over at Yamaba and Seboba. But I just finished up a

(33:15):
year long residency at Morongo and thatwas about four months ago, so we
were there for quite a while. And Gary Mets this my my main horn
player. He's a two time Emmynominee. He's for musical scores and his
uh Smooth Jazz album. They hadthe number one smoo jazz on in the
country last year called Highway one elevenwith John Kerry. And so I'm surrounded

(33:39):
and very blessed with a lot ofgood musicians and that's that's been fantastic for
me. So I feel very blessedand honored to be able to take the
stage with these guys and to befrom San Fernandino and to build this up
this way. It just makes meproud right on. Yeah, A lot
of a lot of good musicians ofthe yes, and and and and even

(34:02):
to this day. I mean it, it's like, for example, my
my girlfriend Amasa alright, she uhsings and goes around with the with Ronnie
be Good and the the the easybands that like Ronnie be Good and I
don't know, but anyways, they'vebeen they do their little singing around here.
She is from Samaradino. We havea lot of rappers, a lot

(34:28):
they well let me, I bettergo back to what my girlfriend think real
quick. She was born in Mississippi, but her family had an address in
samaraid you know, because she wasin the military. So so she she's
she's actually related to to Amasa Lineman, our first mayor. Oh wow,
that was her great great great grandfather. So I had to get that exactly

(34:52):
correct. But but we do havea lot of great musicians. We have
a lot of good rappers. Imean, uh, now we're we're starting
to move into two other bands andbandas and like see, I'm Nadino is
just growing and I have a feelingwe're someday we're gonna really be on the
map when it comes. I'm morefor more than just the Rolling Stones first

(35:13):
concert in America, right, ohboy, the Swing Auditorium. Yeah,
I have stories from there. Iwant to have to get you in here
one day and uh and maybe youcould do some uh some some singing for
us. Uh a cappella right here. Yeah, absolutely, that's uh,
that would be that would be apleasure, definitely, so pleasure. I'm

(35:35):
gonna friend I'm gonna friend you onFacebook and uh and then uh, you
know when I when it comes, when you have another event that that's kind
of big that you want to youwant showcase, So we'll bring you on
in here and uh we'll do alittle promotion for it. They're interested,
that's man, that sounds great. We're always we're all we always love to
support the radio because there wasn't foryou guys, nobody knows who anybody is.

(36:00):
And you know, especially in theage of streaming, it's still better
for you know to be out anduh, press the flesh and be seen
and be heard. Yeah, rightright now, you're you I like because
I run I Love sam Nadino. We have like eighty almost eighty two thousand
members locally yea, So so likeI'm actually streaming right now. But since

(36:22):
you're on the radio, like you'reactually on the phone, they don't get
to hear you, so they're probablyall mad at me on there. So
that's what I'll get you in thereand throw you out to the whole group.
But but but please please follow mygroup if you like a fast group
with lots of sales and all kindsof information. It's I Love samon Nadino
with exclamation points eleven of them. And then if you if you want,

(36:45):
you know, just slower stuff withjust my information, it's a I Love
samon Nadino by Robert Porter. Soyou can check check those out and you
get all the information from the Ie. We got Riverside County stuff,
we got you know, the mountains, high desert. So I'm trying to
bring everyone together so we can goto each other's events and stuff, right,

(37:06):
so we can support each other becausewe're all in this together out here
in the eye and high desert, low desert. So just thank you so
much for coming on my show lastsecond like this, and I appreciate Mark
Westfood for setting it up, andwe'll set up that show in the future
with you, Steve. Could youtell Carlo and if you see Shorty that
I said hello, absolutely absolutely, and tell Carlo I want her on the

(37:31):
show. And now that she's retiring, you could tell her that I love
to have her on the show sometimesso she could talk about some of her
history. I will definitely do that, definitely. And they were short.
He was looking for some areas wherehe could talk about the tribal culture.
He did a tribal awareness day forme at the Calumets Events Center, danced

(37:52):
and brought Indian artifacts and did alot of the traditional dances. And he's
saying, so, I think that'ssomething he loved to do with it.
Honestly. One of my favorite subjectsanthropologically is the Jujavia Tom from sam Manuel
and studying the modern Juavia Tom,like what the new the new wage with

(38:14):
the new art and the new singingand but also so close to their old
culture and uh and practicing the traditionalsongs as well. I'm like when I
hear short he's single, like thisis incredible. I love when he goes
out and does blessings like he's he'sdone our local historical Society. I've had
him on the show here twice,so he's one of my favorite local artists.

(38:38):
He's really you know, dog facedgods if you studied them. And
then he also has all as hissolo ste He's a good guy. Yeah,
he's got a good heart. Man, he's got a good The whole
family has a good heart, sothey sure do. Yeah. My history
goes back with them. When theywere in junior high. We used to
go up to the right Land andbuy cigarettes from them. That's how they

(39:01):
made their money. All they've hadwas the moms were washing clothes on the
rocks on the screen. They've hada band and mobile homes that then the
riffs on them and some of thekids used to paint shoes on their feet
when they came to school. Verysad, and I was it was just
a pleasure to see them thrive. And I know a lot of them,
so I'm very emotionally attached to thesamon Weel tribe. And they're stewards of

(39:24):
our land now. I mean theygive to every cause, in every hospital
they build. They don't just giveto the hospital, they build wings.
You know this is I mean,I can't think of a more important a
group of people to Salmon, Nardinoand the inland part than the sovereign Nation

(39:46):
of Salmon. Weel up there andI appreciate everything they do for our community
absolutely absolutely. Did you see thatsomeone just won a million dollars over at
Yabam this weekend. I didn't seethat. I was like, well,
man, now they're give it out. Now they're creating millionaires out here.
Well, one thing I can tellyou it wasn't me. Well, I'm

(40:08):
disappointed about Well, I'll, uh, you know, put in a good
one for yourself and maybe maybe you'llyou know, I guess you should ask
the creator for that love. Well, I hope you get rich by selling
a million albums. Thank you somuch for coming on, Steve. I
appreciate you. Thank you so much. And now that's Steve Nagretti, Stevie

(40:28):
E and the LCB band and theyare going to be over there at callum

Full Circle Live and it's gonna bethe Tony Bennett Tribute featuring Stevie E and
the and Gary metz Yea and theSisters and seven to nine thirty pm callum

(40:50):

sure if I can make it,but I know for sure that Mark will
be there supporting you all. Thinkyou have all left? Night? Right?

(41:10):
Friend? Thank you two, andwe will be interview you again sometime
soon. Thank you, Steve,Thank you. I'd also like to mention
a night to remember The City ofsam Bernadino Parks and Rec and Community Service
presents sam Bernardino Symphony at the ParkSeptember ninth, twenty twenty three, five

(41:30):
to nine thirty pm at the RooseveltBullet Paris Hill Park and it's free team
they got complimentary snacks and refreshments offeredfor the first hour. All right,
I have a little time here.I have one more interview to go,
my Eric, tell us about yourshow? What's going on with your show?

(41:51):
Oh? Palm Trees and Progress presentson Wednesdays at seven pm okay,
and who who who's running it?Who's a host? Oh me, we'll
tell him your name. This isErico Sorio. I go by Eric Savior
Solo Sorio on the show. Anduh yeah, we usually just have some
funny guests or artists come by,you know, promote whatever they're working on.

(42:13):
We've actually recently had a couple ofguests who have shows on HBO,
A Steve dil Darien. Uh checkout his show The Life. It's ten
year old The Life. I'm sorrybecause he has two shows on HBO.
One's The Life and Times of Timand the other one's ten year Old Tom
and that one's good. Show offcheck it out if you have HBO Max
Voices. It's a cartoon. JohnMalkovich is on that as well, and

(42:36):
a bunch of other funny comedians. And then uh, this upcoming week,
I have a friend of the show, awesome hip hop artist. His name's
Cure See you Are. And thenthe letter three we're gonna be playing some
new music of his, and uhyeah, we usually just promote something talk
about him. You know, ourguests for the first like fifteen twenty minuts
of the show, you know,if they have new music will be playing

(43:00):
of that, and then the restof the show we kind of just chop
it up, go over some uhyou know, it's pretty lighthearted, so
we go over like some articles andheadlines that, uh, you know,
kind of a little bit more alittle funnier things to talk about. So
Erica, I can remember about threeyears ago, he would come in like
just at the end of my showand Immaculate was on next, and he

(43:22):
would come with with with his youknow, with this coffin, you know,
DJ Quivitt, all his stuff. He would bob it already and then
eventually I look over it. He'she's my engineer. Yeah, then you
get away from me, wait forme from the window. So and then
like we did talk about it likeyou're getting your own show, and now

(43:42):
he's got it out. Yeah.Yeah, thank you for giving me the
push for that. Man, Iwasn't the only one, but but it's
important, like especially if you're workinghere to have your own show. I
mean, it's really not that hard. Team. If you would like your
own show, you had to contactCasey A Studios, and I talked to
Mark Westwood. Get your own show. It's you know, about two hundred
and fifty dollars an hour. Yeah, I guess it, depending on the

(44:06):
contract and the lank stuff like duringthe day. Yeah, yeah, I'm
pretty sure, but I guess don'tquote me on that. Yeah. Yeah,
it's more. But if you guysare interested, yeah, go ahead,
call Mark or someone here at thestation and they'll see if you could
work within your budget. Yeah. And and and the other thing is is
this is the radio team. They'rereaching a lot of people. So you
can get sponsors. You can likego out and ask people to sponsor your

(44:30):
show if you if you want todo something specific like help animals or or
you know, like you could getthe like me in society a sponsor you
or you know, whatever your thingis, right and if you're doing music
right like or like when I usedto do cannabis Corner, I don't imagine
the goodie baggs, but you couldstill get those goody bags, like and

(44:53):
we're gonna have a few. We'regonna have some really cool shows coming up
next Monday's off team because let beLabor Day. But in the future we're
gonna have some some more cooking shows. We're going to have some vegan pizza
come in We're gonna do some moreshows on events in the future, so
you know, stay tuned. Join. I love Samon Nadino. Get online

(45:15):
here. We're gonna do something alittle different today. We're gonna play the
last fifteen minutes here Tony Bennett, right, and we're just gonna let it
go at that, and I'm gonnahead over to Amy's house and get some
good all grub because I'm sure she'scooking something really nice. Thank you so
much, Aby, and Robert willbe out here. And thank you Eric

(45:37):
for that small interview. Oh yeah, no problem, Thank you man.
I appreciate you for giving me thetime. And uh, we'll throw on
some Tony Bennett and then we'll endit with some Tracy Lee Nelson. All
right, one woman, let meget that cute. I'm sorry about that.
Oh, no worries, no worries. Uh, thank you. I
love Samon Nadino. I love youall very much. Please join our group.
I love Sam gonna you know exclamationpoints, you know, and if

(45:59):
you have an idea for show,or you want to have somebody else come
on the show, or you havean idea or whatever, you know,
hit me up, Robert Porter andlet me know what your idea is,
and we'll see if we can getthat handled. It happens all the time,
and all the time people are comingin here. So if you'd like
to be on the radio, letme know. I've got you under my

(46:23):
skin. I've got you deep inthe heart of me. It's so deep
in my heart. You are reallya bard of me. I've got you,

(46:44):
yes, I did, under myskin. I've tried so not to
give in. I've said to myselfas a bad never will go so well.
But why should I try to resistwhen d'alla and I know so well

(47:10):
I've got you under my skin.I'd sacrifice anything, come one night for
the sake upon and your near. It's botable warning boys that comes in the
night, I repeats and repeats inmy hand. Don't you know, little

(47:35):
fool, you never can win youis your mentality? Wake up to reality.
But each time I do, justthe thought of you makes me stop
before I begin, because I've gotyou under my skin. Don't you know,

(48:19):
little fool, you never can winyour your ty. Wake up to
reality. But each time that Ido, just the thought of you makes
me stop before a begin, becauseI've got you under my skin, and

(48:47):
I love you like I tell youmy skin. I under myself. Yes,
I've got you. I scared theloveling us of Paris seem somehow sadly

(49:17):
gay. The glory that was wrongis of another day. I've been terribly
alone and forgotten in Manhattan. I'mgoing home to my city bytherby. I

(49:46):
left my in San Francisco. Highon a hill, it calls to me

(50:16):
to be well. Little cable carsclimb halfway to the stars. The morning
far made chill the air. Idon't care. My love weights they in

(50:55):
San France, Cisco above the blueand whin DC. When I come on

(51:22):
to San Francisco, you're golden sidewith side fary. Oh, the good

(52:00):
life, full of fun seems tobe the ideal. The good life lets
you hide all the sadness you feel. You won't really fall in love for

(52:35):
you can't take the chance, Soplease be honest with yourself. Don't try
to fathe romance. It's the goodlife to be free and explore the unknown.

(53:09):
Like the heart aches when you learnyou must face them alone. Please
remember I still want you, Andin case you wonder why, well,

(53:38):
just wake up. Kiss a goodlie, good bye. One day we

(54:15):
walked along the sand. One dayin early spring, you held a piper
in your hand to mend it's brokenwing. Now I remember many a day,

(54:42):
and many ly minds, the echopipers song, the shadow of a
smile, The shadow of your smilewhen you are gone, will color on

(55:29):
my dreams and light the dawn.Look into my eyes, my love,

(55:53):
and see all the lovely things youare to me. Oh, a wistful

(56:19):
little star was far too high.A tear drop kissed your lips, and

(56:44):
the soul did I my remember spring, Oh, the joy that love can

(57:05):
bring. I will be remembering theshadow of your smile. I know I'd

(58:00):
gone from rags to return if youwould only say you care. And though
my pocket may be empty, I'dbe a million man. My clothes may

(58:25):
still be torn and tattered, butin my heart I'd be a king.
Your love is all that ever matters, It saysverything. So open to your

(58:55):
arms, and you'll open the doorto every tress that I'm harping far.
Hold me and kiss me, andtell me your mind ever more? Must

(59:16):
I forever be a beggar whose goldendreams will not come true? Or will
I go from rags to riturns. My faith is up to you. K
