celebrities Bar and Grill on fortieth Street, Max Zayer over there and Zoe doing
(07:19):
good things in the community, expandingtheir businesses with we know, within a
riverside in San Marino County and reallytrying to uh make an impact, so
and make some money. Right. So they're making some money over there selling
some nine ninety nine steak deals becausethey're making money, right, So it's
not easy to sell nine ninety ninesteak deals, right. You gotta,
(07:41):
you know, really break it outlarge amounts of steaks. You gotta you
gotta make sure those customers come inand buy it. So that means we
have to go in there and eatnine ninety nine steak deal. You know,
you gotta buy it a drink, but could be a soda whatever.
Go on in there, nine ninenine steak deal, get a baked potato,
some Texas toast, and have twentybeers. Dude, why not on
(08:01):
what are we doing here? Whatare you you know, what are we
doing? After that? Yeah, you can you can also get Margarita's there
they you know, watch football. He's got a great big event coming up

all sit down and watch The Nightmarebefore Christmas? Is your chair all right

(08:22):

to make it so we got toget in there and help them make it.
Well, he's not even here today, but I love Sam Bernardino.
Stand out of the week is itbeyond a locker and is not even most
(09:28):
of the time, the standard ofthe week is in here, So it's
probably good we do it when he'snot here. But he is an incredible
dude. Let me tell you.He helped me with the talent show I
used to have when I first originallystarted here at KCAA, and he brought
in all these incredible artists and thisweek and we even went to an event
(09:50):
where these artists that he showcased onthe show, we're running the event at
the Garcia Center now, right,So I mean really incredible, you know.
Growing with him, I learned alot of how to run social media
by watching some of his technique,in watching how he did things in going
to events and covering them. Solike he feels the same way about some
(10:13):
of the things that I've done.A great guy helped his dad in his
times of need and end of hislife. Good good good Man now is
involved heavily with with the with thespiritual aspects of Sam Bernadino in the congregations,
bringing us all together, not justone religion, but all all the
(10:37):
religions togetherringing everybody and athis bring everybodytogether. And then I've seen him lately
at almost every event in town.I'm like, how do you make it
to ninety percent of all the events? And those because he's a salmon Nadina
stand out of the week? Thankyou if Yanni and Yanni will be in
the house in a little bit,so sweet. We really do appreciate you.
(10:58):
Uh. And that is brought toyou by Ben Chavis with First Lineage
Site Services, and I'm happy toannounce that Ben has said that he would
continue to sponsor I Love Sam Mandinofor the future. So I'm pretty surely
happy. Yeah, I'm very happywith that, just that you know,
(11:20):
he does that one segment twenty fivea week for four weeks, so one
hundred a month. But if youwould like to do a segment, I'm
looking for someone who might want todo a segment on local businesses, so
that would be something similar in twentyfive your business or your group will bit
mentioned every single time. There arethese new businesses do but I like to
(11:43):
maybe showcase different businesses throughout our communityand especially food one especially, Yeah,
because we got some good food andyou know, we all need to talk
about it. So I was gonnathink I was thinking about maybe hitting up
a valve from Sundowners now, butif you, if you guys would like
to, you know, hit meup. What's what's what's in my pocket?
(12:03):
That's my pocket aside, I gotsomething good, a little mess up
bomb, little bomb in my pocket. Hey. On that note regarding Sundowners,
one of the coolest things having justgoing through Veterans Day, Sundowners was
(12:26):
providing a free meal to our veterans, so that that was a good gun
man. Thank you out for that. Yeah, because I know on the
I Love Samarandino site on the page, there was a lot of veterans that
were, you know, just expressingtheir their opinions on that and nothing but
(12:48):
good words, you know for sundownersand unhungry stomachs. That's it exactly,
you know, because veterans can eat. I'm like, I don't know,
but a lot of the wives werethey what do they get? Yeah,
you know what, veterans spouses deserveeverything that a veteran gets. In my
opinion, this is why because theygot a deal with the veteran and my
(13:11):
dad, my dad, you know, he went through some stuff in Vietnam.
Let me tell you. Yeah,Like you're like I'd be I'd be
sitting there. I'll wake up atnight. You know. There was one
time where like I left the leftthe house, you know, I thought
I was old enough, and thenI had to come back. Right,
So I came back. So I'msleeping on the couch, right, and
my dad comes in a like onein the morning with a bowling knife,
(13:33):
man like, and he was sleepwalking, right, go walk outside with
it like in his underwear. Like, I'm like, whoa. So you
never know what the veterans, youknow, we've been through some rough stuff.
So I do appreciate the veterans andthe veterans wives high five for that,
or veterans husbands. That's true, yes, all the way around as
(13:54):
well. Right, all right,I do have an incredible Samamonnardino history to
abit. Are you guys ready, let's go, let's go all right.
In early April of eighteen fifty three, Jefferson Hunt, who had become a
state assemblyman from Los Angeles County,in adduced in the legislature a bill that
(14:16):
proposed setting aside the east end ofLos Angeles County to create a new county.
Right So, I often tell peoplefrom Riverside County, I say,
you know what, guess what? You used to be part of San Bernardino
County. So you all a lotto us. But from this right here,
(14:37):
guess what all the bad stuff I'veever said about La Let me tell
you, we used to be partof Los Angeles County. All right,
here we go. The area wastwenty one and seventy two square miles.
This bill passed on April twenty eighth, and San Bardino County came in in
(15:00):
two existence. Two years later,a Board of Supervisors was formed, consisting
of Bishop Crosby, Daniel Stark,Lewis Rubadeaux from Harupa as chairman. One
of the functions of this board wasto supervise the management of the medically an
engine. This concept of local responsibilityfor medical care of the impoverished sick was
(15:22):
not new. In fact, duringthe seventeenth century, the various colonies of
the New World decreed that the needyill would be the responsibility of each town.
Medical science in the first half ofthe nineteenth century, even at the
large cities of New York, Barston, Philadelphia, and London was in its
infancy, and the medical care andsam Bernardino County was far below this standard.
(15:43):
Because of this high mortality rate, inadequate anesthesia, and almost no diagnostic
equipment, very little surgery was performed. The Strandard treatment for many medical diseases
consisted of bleeding, pukey and purging, together with the liberal use of drugs.
(16:06):
Sounds like puting mercury for venereal disease, Oh my gosh, powders for
opiates. Oh, how you doingdoing? Oh oh, you were just
out of the week. I'm gladyou weren't here for that, because usually
they're not so like. That's thereason, because we want to talk good
(16:27):
about you while you're not hearing. Now you you know, now you're yeah,
you know it's always good to talkgood about people when you're not with
them, right right. I alwaystry not to say bad things about people
because you know that stuff ends upcoming back and bit yeah, losing friends.
Okay, okay. Uh. Nicotinein the form of tobacco suppositories produced
(16:53):
cold sweats, nausea, shock, muscle relaxation, with subsequent hernia. Doctors
often treated a child suffering from depfleariaby sucking out the virulent material from the
child's windpipe. Like you're seeing thisis this is Sam Fernandino medical history.
(17:15):
We have come so far, youknow, Like so every time you go
to save Be's or County Hospital andcomplain that like oh you're not getting good
care or just like the powers out, we got to go back to the
old method and they were happy tohave it. Yeah, back even come
(17:37):
on to our medical teams work sohard, especially our nurses and doctors.
I mean I so recently I've beenable to be around a lot of doctors,
not all the time, but arounddoctors during like holidays and things or
when when and he has events, and they're you know, they're just like
(18:00):
anybody else, man, but theyget stressed out too, and like when
they get stressed out, they're dealingwith things that like sometimes life and death
and that, right, you know, Like can you imagine not being able
to save somebody and be a nurseor a doctor? Yeah, Like so
like please, you know, thankyou for everything you do. And I
(18:22):
definitely don't want your job. Yeahyeah, but it takes a special kind
of person to be able to earnthat they check. I have a couple
of takes a lot of investment ineducation and then the other thing. Yeah,
I'm just saying smart, Yeah, definitely. Yeah. You know,
you know, you can be adoctor, that's one thing. But like
(18:45):
at Amy School, there's learning tobe surgeons. So this is like the
cream of the crop of the andlike and they still you know, they
do some rough stuff. So shoutout to all your hospital hell helpers and
nurses and even the people who justclean up around and thank you for everything.
Man, Yeah, I appreciate youin the Amen, and all that
(19:08):
work together saved my life one time. Amen. Amen. Amen. How
old were you? Robert was fouryears ago? Four years ago I had
my heart surgery, all right, yeah amen, yea four extra gravy years
Amen. Amen, Amen, beautifulthree years Amen. So like that's why
(19:30):
I've been like living my life theway I do. Yeah, because really,
happiness is all that matters. Likeyou can be rich and then before
the next day you can like havean incredible family and have it taken away
from you. So you gotta everyday you gotta be you know, appreciative,
(19:52):
grateful, grateful for what you got, even though like a few last
few days that. There's been timeswhen I've been depressed. It happens wondering
where money is coming from and howyou're going to help people, and you
know, and the other stressful things. Facebook. I love, Samordino.
Facebook. It gives me these violationsfor things that are then they put this
(20:17):
big red alert right when I gointo it says group at risk. But
it's really not at risk because Iactually have lost standard violations that have fallen
off, but the algorithm doesn't takethem off. It says clearly. It
says clearly on the visible until Novemberfourth, and it's still there. So
(20:38):
Facebook's messing with the algorithm, messingsomething up. So that does stress me.
But also you can tell the stressfrom the people because they get more
negative when there is no money. Then you also see the desperation when it
comes to needing a turkey food forThanksgiving. I mean that's a big meal
(20:59):
you got to plan for and expensive. Yes, it is so like I
see their stress and anything that makesme said to like, see so many
people that need a turkey right rightnow. And the only reason I brought
that up is I love seeing thosepick me up ers, you know,
Yebert you've been up at like oneo'clock in the morning and just telling people
like, Hey, what's that exerciseroutine? You know, if you guys,
(21:22):
I gotta give my personal AI alittle bit a long. That will
be the future, and I cansay from the from the start, I've
had a personal AI at Facebook.Hopefully it will be his name will be
Robert Porter. Eventually, you know, we'll go out and do my things.
Robert Report. I really see it, Robert Porter. I go pay
(21:45):
my bills. Uh, go findme some money for work for me,
Yeah, to make some cash backhere. That will happen, and then
there will be people with a millionaiyes, that do that exact same thing.
Right, But right now we're doingthe Facebook and like it allows me
to make posts to thank people inthe morning, because that's the hardest time
(22:07):
for me to be able to beup for our people who work the nights,
and thank you for realizing that thoseposts are meant even though they're repetitive
and every week, they're meant foryou to to think daily posts too.
For the exercise, even if youdon't exercise every day, that yeah,
that was special for you. LiveWe love it. Yeah, you're not
(22:34):
allowed to say certain words like that. You can say it on Facebook exactly.
So anyways, you know, Isee the desperation, so good trying
to mention that. Uh, TerrenceStone in the Community Community Action Partnership Partnership,
you know, definitely, definitely,I know some of the details.
(22:56):
But I volunteered in the past withthe turkey distribution. I know. I
believe they're shooting for over a thousandturkeys this time, and I believe it's
happening this weekend November eighteenth. Idon't know if it's too late to register.
Oh yeah, there was a registration, so you need to look into
that. Definitely look into that. But I know from past experience that not
(23:17):
everybody shows up. So if youif you get there and you talk to
the right people, they might havea line for if they have extras,
if you really have the need, you know, really need and get where
it's I do not know the location. I know, I know they usually
they do it at Typical New That'swhere it's been at in the past,
at the Community Action Partnership, rightthere in their parking lot. I'm assuming
(23:41):
that it would be there, butyou could go to you could search out
Terrence Stone on Facebook, or youcould go to the website Young Visionaries.
I don't know the full website, but if you search young Visionaries one yes,
probably over a thousand put Young Visionariesin. Definitely come right up and
register for your Turkey team. Wealso got the Turkey Trot if you like,
(24:04):
register in the morning of Thanksgiving andthat's s F Turkey Trot dot com.
Come home with the scheme why I'mgonna be out there just screaming all
I'm gonna be there for show forshow now. Actually like I've lost a
lot of weight since last Turkey truck. Looking looking actually feel like I'm a
(24:26):
shout out to Amy, shout outto a lost a lot of lost breakfasts
breakfast, let me tell you,but you're looking better. All the better
for it. I feel healthier forit. But like had some weeks every
every blue moone, Well you gotonce you get our age, you gotta
(24:49):
come and start watching your You gota few to go. Come on,
you're in your twenties to three. He's in a third round the twenty second,
the beginning of yeah yeah, yeah, yeah No. That's a blessing,
bro, That's a blessing to beable to see more more, tell
(25:12):
my body to be like, youknow, act like a twenty year old
and have the mental capacity. Yeah. I think you're the embodiment of that
right now as we speak. Well, hope you get the swallow and that
is not inserted, you know. And I feel more strong and healthy than
(25:33):
I have. And because I've beendoing push ups every day, push and
except the rest, I push upsjust push ups yeah okay, not even
Yeah, I have I have waitsoutside, so I do do curls sometimes,
but I don't push mysel anymore becausewhen I push get hurt. I'm
(25:55):
building myself up to be able toeven work out. That's how you have
to do it, Yeah, otherwiseI end up hurting and then I stopped
for three months and then it's overand you lose all the game that you
have built up. Yeah. Sothat's so it's a slow progress. So
if you're out of shape, team, how long did it take? Yes,
so imagine that's probably how long it'sgoing to take. Definitely get you
(26:17):
back to that point. And that'swhat I had to realize it. And
the other thing is just exercising doesn'tmake you lose weight. You can exert
will will. As long as youburn more than what you put in,
you'll lose weight. But it hasto be attached really to a lifestyle staying
and you can't exercise and then likeeat three steak dinner. That's definitely moderation
(26:41):
and everything. If you're going forthat muscle bounce, oh definitely. If
you need to put on muscle, like otherwise, you just get muscle for
real, for real, but you'llbe a strong man. Yeah. It
usually don't run up on you,you know what I mean. And we're
not I'm not supposed to eat thatmy red meat anyway, but that's my
secret if you want to know, like not eating breakfast, and I'm most
(27:03):
of the time not eating lunch.I eat lunch. I'm a lunch and
dinner kind of person, so Inormally don't eat breakfast. And you've working
your butt off. Yeah, man, just trying to get back because I
used to run ten miles a day. Now I currently walk about six to
eight miles. But I got tobuild up that endurance and then as well
as integrate the college sthenics. Ido have a power tower and then so
those push ups. That makes adifference. You know, you as you
(27:26):
get older, you have to putan emphasis on keeping your muscle, you
know, because and if you falldown, you want to be able to
get up, you know what Imean. That's that's real though, That's
really real. And I don't knowif any of you have ever had that
happen where you fall down you can'tget up. That's real scary. Well
why would have? Yes, ithappened to me. And it's like after
(27:48):
my helpless I was stuck in mybed all night. My mom passed out.
She was supposed to be watching me, she passed out, and I
was just like, they're in pain, like you know what to do.
Scary to be helpless and vulnerable, you know, you really are in those
moments. And actually it was agood thing for me to be that way
because it teaches you, yes,if you survive it, yeah, survive
(28:11):
it. He's a longer person,so I'm don't go that route, but
if you do, you'll come outof it stronger. Definitely. One more
thing to one more event. Wedid the Turkey Ones. Please I'd love
to see at the Turkey Try.Next week we're gonna have Damon and Felicia
Alexander on to discuss the Turkey tryand shout out to the Sanmordino Symphony as
well. Oh yeah, beautiful,I love it. I love it.
(28:33):
Miracle on Court Street. So thisis hot off the presses team. I
just came from my Art and HistoricalPreservation Commission meeting and they gave us this
from the city's Parks and rec Miracleon Court Street daily event scheduled December fourteenth
through sixteenth, right there, threefour nine Northeast Street, Court Street Square.
(28:56):
Train rides Monday through Friday five thirtyto eight thirty pm, Saturday eight
to four, four to eight pm, and Sunday two to six pm.
So they did raise the make ita little bit later, I guess for
the train rides and the ice skating. Oh yeah, the ice skating's Monday
through Friday five point fifteen to eightforty five. So they and they increased.
(29:17):
They doubled the size of the skatingring. That's beautiful. So you
have to pay, you have togo over there and register and everything,
right, you do that stuff. But it's five dollars per thirty minute session.
That's very affordable. That's fair.Now it's not ice, it's uh,
it's yeah, yeah, they giveyou the same same feeling of ye
(29:37):
out, the yeah you're skates onand everything, so the kids seem to
love it. Well, I wantto sponsor twenty twenty twenty ice skating.
You said five minutes, five dollarsfor a twenty minute session. So Motivational
Realization is gonna work with you.And I love Samardino and Motivational Realizations our
partnering. And we're gonna buy twohundred spots for those that may not be
(30:00):
able to afford the five dollars fee. So we're going to take care of
twenty twenty people. Twenty people definitely, right, Well, you know what
we'll call a We'll call a liddygod phild director of Parks and rec and
we'll see how what she says aboutdefinitely. She might even be able to
throw a little bonus, give usa two fifty rate for it, or
something that that matches meet this halfway. That's an awesome idea. Man,
you made, you made, youtalked about the other day at the award
(30:23):
show. You forgot it. Ijust loved that ice skating. You know,
we used to have to go upto Blue Jada you ice skating,
right, you know what I usedto it used to be a place I
think, I want to say towardsUpland or somewhere. Yeah, there was,
Yeah, because I went there toskate. You know, it was
real ice in there. It waslike a real I did that one one,
Yeah, yeah, I did.I went there a couple of times
(30:44):
and then went up the mountain. Was fun because there's all the mountain chicks
of that time. I get,so I go, I go with my
cousins up to there, and Iguess like some of the Olympic skaters at
that time were there, Like soI I was, you know, in
the place to be. It's somany people that train up in Big Bear
in boxing, and so many athletesgo up to Big Bear because that elevation,
(31:08):
you know, helps build that endurance. It's good for for your your
lung capacity, and and for it'sit's BEAUTI beautiful arizon. Go up to
Big Bear and visit all those mountains. In fact, go along the eighteen
and go all the way down thewhole thing. All right, So this
(31:29):
is cool. There's a lot ofother things. I have this already posted
on you know, and we'll keepsaying this every week. Team, but
miracle on Court Street is coming upbeautiful. We went to the only i
E Award. Do you have agood time for the Empire? Of course
I did. It was beautiful andwe uh we brought Tristan on a few
weeks ago. He did mention thathe was setting this up. I didn't
(31:52):
realize he was setting this Uprando,Yeah, like, what what what did
you think? I thought? Ithought it was such a beautiful experience.
I'm so happy that he reached outto, you know, help allowed me
to sponsor one of the awards, you know, the Pillar Award I always
(32:12):
wanted. I always invest in mycommunity. It's not always monetarily because I
am the working for too, youknow what I mean. But I've been
got to help even Definitely, Definitely, sometimes the help is just acknowledging somebody
seeing someone like I recognize your humanity. Definitely, definitely, amen. He
I appreciate the opportunity. More importantly, I appreciate the people that really care
(32:36):
about our community. And I cannotsay this without shouting out, I'm Ernie
and Dottie Garcia for mister Ernie's visionsof art saving our community, and to
me, it's alive and well andthriving. Here and we just got to
continue to invest in the in thearts, invest in the people, and
we are slowly but shortly lifting ourcommunity to to purest Skies where there's no
(32:58):
limitations, only endless possibility. AndTristan, Tristan, Douglas and Daniel were
they working on that together. Werethey a team there? I know that
Tristan had I was working with alot of you had a team there.
Yeah, I don't want to missanybody. We want to create everybody carved.
It was beautiful. I don't evenknow if I've ever been a war
(33:22):
show. Music you are. Thisis the king of the interview on the
Red car Me no, but itwas so much and there was a lot
bigger stars than me there. Artistscould sing, the band, the house
(33:45):
band they had, I had.I had a brain fark? Can you
say brain fark? Was there?Did you? Man? I don't tell
my doctor, but I got afive y. I treated myself that night.
I was celebrated. I got afive pass. If you give him
(34:06):
enough money, they can make itsaid the biggest one they made. I
believe. I think brother Patrick hassaid that twelve was the biggest one they've
done. You know what I mean, so twelve plus two or six plus
six your fingers syrup comes out asecond. You haven't had one because that
(34:29):
blasphemy. You want that grease, you want that that love. Don't tell
the chorologists though. Yeah, soVictor, actually tomorrow is a there's some
kind of what do you call it? There's something having that javam up there,
Oh, just asking questions whatever itis. There's some questions you win
(34:51):
three thousand. I can't do thatup there, like a trivia. Yeah.
Yeah, So if you guys wantto interest in that, go for
I would have loved to do it, he asked me today. But want
to say, dude, Victor, awesome. I don't think thirteen patties is
I don't I think we could dothat. I mean it's twenty like let's
see the biggest one. Like likebut you know, like why should we
(35:12):
let this other person? That soundslike something we're gonna have to tackle.
Yeah, like man versus food Samardinoonly Empire Edition, you know I love
Samardino Editions delivery. Yeah, Idon't know if I could eat thirteen,
but that's a lot of patties.That is a lot of patties. I
know the five I went out hadI got the itis immediately, so as
(35:34):
soon as I got the last bitedown, it was Burger, Bliss Club
Club Perfect. Say have you tried? No hold on? It's good,
It's really I have to say,I see him. Me and Tristan had
this little debate, and I agreewith Trician that he sees them as in
and out Burger. I say McDonald'sbecause McDonald's started in Sammardino and I'm seeing
(36:00):
global domination with so, so we'rein agreement that the Burgers are awesomeness.
And I see Burger universal galaxy domination, you know, and it's heading that
direction. It's opening up sooner overthere by Target. So there the old
(36:20):
old Target on Highland there. Soif you haven't had Chubsy's, they are
located over there, Marshall and E. But it's behind the jumper place.
You have to look for a littlesign you go in the driveway. Un
it's right behind the building. Soif you just smell and they're over there,
but follow follow the Yeah, followthe greatness, follow the greatness,
(36:40):
but but also follow Smashburger right, follow chubs On definitely follow follow Tangent,
Wiggy Woo on Instagram follow Motivational RealizationsRobert Porter. And then we're moving on
to mister Shawnese. You have apage as well on Instagram. Let him
know. Absolutely tell us your page. All right, it's actually Christian four.
(37:02):
Uh, I believe sb ward three. Yeah, the Facebook and the
Instagram and then the website Christian forSamrino City Council dot com. Okay,
I know, Christian for sb CityCouncil dot com. So tell us a
little bit. Where are you from? Absolutely? So, I'm been born
and raised here from the great cityof sam Maridino. Went to Parkside Elementary,
(37:23):
Golden Valley Middle School, Pacific HighSchool, sam Reno Valley College,
Proud Wolverine Wolverine. Absolutely absolutely, and then over at Samuel Valley College,
I was a co chair of METCHA. I was over in a entered campus
cloud Council. So yeah, myroots are firmly here. Oh you're a
Wolverine too. Took them in highschool. There you go. Don't tell
(37:47):
anybody. I was in college andhigh school. Yeah, I got to
I took chemistry and in Spanish andpolitics or in government. That valley.
It was actually good for a highschool because I got to meet all the
older chick I'd like it pretty good. You got to be open here getting
(38:09):
in trouble statutory cases. Was upin the mountains. Yeah, you know
mountains. Yeah. I was ayoungster and joined I saw Yeah, man,
it was fun to be a collegedude. So what has driven you
(38:30):
to stay in sam Bernardino. Well, here here's the thing. In my
opinion, if you want to changea place like Sambordino, or a place
like Detroit or replaced like South Central, you have to go in and stay
in the community and give it thatlove so you can go in and change
the community around inside out. Absolutely. And so when I I mean when
I grew up with the poverty andthe violence and all the other things that
(38:52):
unfortunately occur in this city, Imean I knew that we had to go
and change things. And so intwenty nineteen, in particular, I lost
a friend by the name of theNatsh Kumar. We lost them the gun
violence, unfortunately, and it wasonly three blocks away from where I grew
up on on for a third Street, thank you. And what that really
(39:12):
taught me about was the fragility oflife, you know, because I mean
I remember I was in high schooland we were talking about, you know,
like the things you did when youwere young. And I wasn't the
nicest person, you know over inhigh school. They had all kinds of
you know, nicknames for me andeverything. But Natash brother, Natsh was
actually nice to me through it all, despite it, and it had been
some years since, you know,I had talked to the guy. But
then you know, I find Ifind out my friend Georgiamatti. He tells
(39:34):
me, you know, did youguys hear about Natash And I'm like,
okay, you know, he probablygot with a beautiful woman or something.
He's about to make me feel like, you know, I'm late behind on
development and everything. But but no, I mean, he had unfortunately,
unfortunately passed, and you know it'ssomething that happens too often in the city.
And so I'd like to dedicate thisshow to him into all Oh God,
bless you. That means a lot, thank you. And so I
(39:58):
mean, along the line of oflife, I became a youth mentor.
I became a community organizer, especiallyworking with our young people who are starting
up life, who want to goat and be their own advocates, not
just have you know, adults speakthrough them, but go ahead and speak
to adults and get those changes onthe community. I worked with Sigma bit
as I Youth and Family Services thatnow is simply member Corey Jackson hoped co
(40:21):
found I Work to reach Out WestEnd, creating a youth and family resource
center up in the Upa Valley. How did that prepare you for what you
feel your need to do if youbecome the third working as I run for
Yeah, good question, good question. So, especially with the current role
I have now, you work withthese elected officials. You bring these young
(40:42):
people to these elected officials, andthen you talk policy. You go in
and let these people know the realityof what's going on on these streets.
Because right now, in particular,I mentor folks who are un housed or
who have just come out of thatlife on how to speak to elected officials,
how to do public on it atthe city council public comments sections.
I would go and speak to people. And when you go at and be
(41:04):
a community organized for over a decadelike I have, you know there comes
a point where you think, youknow what, I'm tired of just talking
to these electeds. I'm tired ofjust hoping, wishing and praying that they
do XYZ. I want to goout and be the man in the arena
to go ahead and make make thishappen. And so I want to go
at and for instance, you know, expand and maintain our violence intervention program.
You go, Brother Terence Stone, you got folks from Operation New Hope.
(41:29):
You have wonderful people from ic U. See, you really have good
folks like Tom Dolan and the restwho put in good work in this community.
I want to make sure that thosethings aren't cut the next time we
have a decline in tax revenue inthis the next time we have a recession
or something. And then I want, I want a beautiful, beautiful downtown
here in sam Maredino. You gotake a look at something like the Enterprise
building. I think that could bea great model for the rest of sam
(41:51):
Maordino. We had a great communitybenefits agreement for our downtown and then you
can see the city just pop backto life, pop back to life.
And I mean I've I've talked tosome brothers and sisters. They're from Riverside
and they tell me, you know, there used to be a time when
our downtown wasn't that great, Butthen you brought in that good development,
that smart development, and then nowit's poppy. You go looking mission and
go look at all those you know, wonderful young people you know making mistakes
(42:14):
like this and some brother over here, you know, and I mean,
I really think that we could bringsome vitality. So growing up you grew
up on the north side of Sanbury. I grew up on the north side.
Okay, so grew up on thenorth side. Went to school over
on you know, Valley College,Yes, sir, right, so,
and that's the war that you're currentlyrepresenting. Yeah, ward three baby word
(42:35):
through hebby Valley College's Councilman. It'sa it's a surreal thing thinking about that,
but it would be a great thing. Yeah, that's cool. How
long so you have? You've goneto to Valley? Are you interested in
going to cal State or are you? Oh? Yeah, I went to
I graduated from UH, I wentI graduated from UC sunt of Barbara,
(42:57):
and then I spent a year workingstudying abroad as well. Then I hopped
on down with the Bernie Sanders campaigntwenty twenty. I want to bad Oh,
thank you brother, thank you andthen I couldn't vote for Bernie.
I saw him speak here at ThornShow. It was awesome. I remember
back in the and I actually hada press pass. I was like right
(43:17):
there in the front. That wasawesome. But like I just knew he
couldn't win. It sucked. Iwant I failed him, I really did.
We're not ready for yet, buthopefully the time will come. Well,
I'm well depended, and when I'verun for something, yeah, I'm
going to try to bring that samevein that same Are you a Democrat or
Republican, I'm a Democrat. I'mactually a president of the San Marino County
(43:39):
Young Dems. And then, likelike a brother, Bernie Sanders, you
know, no corporate pack money,no developer money, no billionaire money,
which can be an interesting factor inthat the empire sometimes no, but if
yeah, you find a billionaire inthe empire, you better be taking that
money of those around here. Andwe need that. I can't take Jack.
(44:00):
We need a councilman who knows thebillionaires to bring that development into here.
Man, there's only a few semibillionaires. You can create opportunities for
them to invest their money, butyou don't have to take their money to
harness it for your campaign, justtrying to make sure that he doesn't have
that because so often for those thattake that kind of money, Like we're
(44:20):
kind of dealing with this in RiversideCounty border suits right, like four our
the five candidates are kind of takingmoney from the sheriff's campaigns and things of
that nature, and it could createrelationships that are not ideal for the community
because they're here to service. Sothis is what I'll let you guys know,
someone can give you money and theyain't that bad. Take the money.
(44:42):
You don't have to vote their way. Let me tell you, in
fact, if you don't vote thatway, I'm gonna respect you even more.
Well you do that when you run, Robert, you can't get money.
Let me tell you, I watchedso many candidates get to the end
run and not have any money leftover, and that they were good candidates.
The money comes on losing by threeto four votes because of money.
(45:08):
It could have been just a candidate'sstatement alone could have got you past the
threshold, but you didn't have thethree grand or whatever. Debate, I'll
say this though, at the endof the day, what the data says
and what people tell you is thatpeople power knocking on doors that face the
face contact. Walking wins elections inSamminey, when Carrie Davis won, it
(45:29):
was because he walked better. Whenhe lost the second time, it was
because he got compla. It's easyto do sitting in the throne. Yeah,
And I often are the people sittingup there at that dice. They
need to know you out there walkingup there and look, and I'm I'm
(45:51):
gonna throw this one out there. In order to have change, someone has
to have money. Okay, youwant a better Bernardino, the guy has
to have money. Well, itall depends on the kind of change you're
talking about, exactly, because themost of the change that would be beneficial
in our country right now is achange in people's hearts and mindsets when they
(46:12):
look upon their fellow man. Soit all depends what kind of change as
long as long as there's so youhave to have money to build a building,
and that type of money takes moremoney than any of us here can
get any type of oul. AndI agree with you one hundred percent,
because we could have all the greatdreams, the aspirations. And again,
(46:37):
like Robert said, you don't haveto vote their way. But if they
see a vision in you and theyare supporting you, that's support because it
could be supporting your candidate, othercandidate too, right, just supporting all
of them, just to do itand that and that's the whole thing.
Because here's the other part. Ifthere is another damn on and then that
(47:00):
vote gets split your toast and that'swhere that money could you know, be
crucial where I understand we want changeAnd I'm never going to say, you
know, be biased or anything likethat. But the thing is, if
there's two of you, because thisjust recently happened, is what is the
(47:22):
deciding factor to keep a person onthe table that we don't want at the
table anymore? And what I'll sayis that there's many ways of skinner cat
and everybody has their own approach andhow they want to achieve or run anal
cruelty? How was that hamburger from? And with that said, this is
(47:47):
where you know I'm getting at,keep an open mind and that's it.
You know, I know that wewant to achieve it in this form,
but never you know, just cancelsomething out because of the fact that that's
where I was coming from because I'mI used to be very I had dreams
of how politics should be. LikeI even wanted to run. I don't
(48:10):
want to run for politics. That'sterrible. It ruined you. It makes
years old. Okay, I'm twentytwo, all right, So I'm forty
two. And the reason we're sayingthis is back in twenty twenty, I
was going to run for the FourthWar. Oh okay, and I am
(48:31):
self funded, self funded. Andthe craziest part was you have to decide,
you know, who are you doingthis for? And I'll tell you
what I at that particular time, had my five and six year old and
I chose family. And I chosefamily because of the fact that the commitments
(48:52):
that you are signing up for it'stough. It's tough. And that's where
you know, to me in mylife right now, I want to be
home, Jesse. What you want, Jesse, I want to go home.
I want to see my kids getoff school. But on that on
that point, I know you're nottaking any corporate donations, but how can
individuals support your exactly? Yeah, absolutely so what individuals have done before even
(49:19):
the last campaign and I ran forboard of trustees when we got over ten
thousand votes. We won every areathat wasn't Redlands. We won the entire
city loom Linda, we won Wardthree in the last race, we won
Colton, We won the uncorporate areasSamurdanoa, Riverside County. And we did
it without corporate packer, developer body. And when it was in the past
and when we face the challenge rightnow in the present, you have those
(49:40):
monthly recurring contributions, and those stackup because there comes a point to where
unless somebody funds a hardcore superpack thatsomebody has a lot of money, they'll
maximum away where that will happen. But then those individual donors can keep going,
keep going. Okay, And here'sthe thing. I mean, I'm
not even against small business donations. You know, like if you're running I
(50:00):
love Chicken Waffles and Island Avenue, that is personally responsible for me gaining twenty
pounds, you know, like that'snot I think you're kind of get away.
What I was, what I wastrying to say is that to bring
money into the city gil that noneof the people and before have really showed
(50:21):
you they got. And if youcan do that, you're the man.
If you can billion. Yes,that is literally almost impossible right now,
they're not that many billionaires. Weneed somebody who's got that, the Kim
Carter and them, right, weneed that, right And I think like,
(50:45):
yeah, that that would be nice, right, But just imagine if
everybody in our community right just gavefive dollars enough fun So there's many a
ways to approach it, and weand we all need to be invested in
our community. That five bucks likethat could buy milk for the You know,
our people right now are like alot of folks. So my main
(51:07):
thing is like it's already been decidedthat money is speech. It's free speech.
I don't always agree with that, correct, but it is. It's
the way it is. It is. Our Supreme Court has said, this
is our friends in the Supreme Court. If you are good at talking to
people on all different sides everywhere andbringing the money in bringing a union into
(51:32):
Sam Bernadino, it getting kidnapping built, right, It's gonna get it built
after you bring the developer into, right, So you have to have the
money first and the project, thenyou bring the union and then you bring
the work. Well, I mean, here's another way to look at it.
My brother. So when certain individualsin Samborandino have had accusations of pay
(51:53):
to play, right, sometimes you'llhave enterprise not want to enter Sambordino because
they think the people that have givendonations or the ones that are gonna get
to the front of the line foreverything, whether it be a business application,
whether the exactly exactly you know whospread the love that way. And
so sometimes you'll have these small businesses. Sometimes you'll even have i mean for
(52:13):
uh, nonprofit developers, and they'llappreciate the fact that you don't take developer
money because it shows that this personwill go and view it from an equal
point of view, so you cantake a look at it from you know,
even that you know, libertarian, pro business point of view. That's
kind of still looking for their moneyinstead, you're just making you're making access
for that money instead of the other. No, No, I'm talking about
(52:34):
say donations. I'm saying that ifyou don't take the donations, then when
you bring that investment in, youhave a clear lens on that. All
right, I can I can seehow that is. But if you don't
have the relationship in the first place, like maybe they're not even looking at
sam Renadino. Right. Maybe theymaybe they're they say, well, why
would I do that? When? But if you are a friend and you're
like, hey, come on,you don't say it like that, man,
(52:59):
like you're saying you want you wantpeople that can encourage and inspire people
to invest in our entrepreneurs. That'sthat's the that just because your billiard doesn't
mean you're bad. And and I'lltell you good one. I believe we
(53:22):
are moving in the right direction becauseyou know, when this does come around,
we got to clean slate. Wenow don't have that building that's you
know that I sore. So thisis that other one is getting tore down
to right across the streets from thecity parking structure. I was like,
yeah, that's another prime spot rest. And that's the part where you know,
(53:45):
start thinking outside the box and knowingyou know who has built a nice
project and going out and saying, you know what did it take? How
long did it take? And youknow what, I'm not asking for nothing,
but you know what, we gota really nice piece of land over
exactly that maybe you want to comeand check out. And Valdivia, for
(54:06):
all his faults for what they sayhe did, or whatever. I have
not seen any charges yet. I'mwaiting. They don't see no charges.
Well, they'll never be charges. We don't know. You're not guilty until
you brought up something. Right. So for me, all as I saw
with Aldidi was was he was anegotistical meania he was he was really good
(54:32):
at talking to developers and people giftgift and he could talk to me even
when I was angry at him.He could talk to you even if you
hated him. A lot of peoplecan't do that, and it's and that's
not the kind of politician we need, right And what Robert is getting at,
you know, being a representative ofyour award, you will have to
(54:54):
listen to your people because that iswhat they're looking for. At the same
token, there is going to bedecisions that need to be made on what
is best for the people, whichwe you will upset you know, grandma
and grandpa that doesn't want you know, this big stadium put in the middle
(55:15):
of downtown where now it's gonna youknow, have another traffic jam like you
know over on Victoria. Right. But those are the things. How can
we have changed? Well, weneed businesses, businesses that bring money that
bring revenue that can afford for morecops to be able to and that stuff
will keep you out of the boxand exact situation I mean for Ben,
(55:38):
I mean really, they're doing thatto him on purpose. I think it
took his It took Nickel down, might take him down too. It's sad
that just some needs to be cleanedup. Where can I find you and
support you? We're getting close tothe end, Yeah, absolutely so.
Christian for sb City Council dot com, ma downa the one from website,
(56:00):
Christian for SB ward thirty on Facebookand Instagram. And if you go give
that wonderful twenty thirty whatever monthly recurrentcontribution can make, it can take us

(56:21):
you speak very well, and I'mhoping we will become You're a handsome young
