Thanks for listening and see you nexttime. Welcome to our preview of our
twenty twenty four season. We hadsome amazing guests on our podcast in this
past year, for example, likecoach Rachel who spoke with us about positive
psychology coaching and coach Elizabeth who spokewith us about what is coachability and how
(01:32):
do you know somebody's coachable. Wehad Professor Modube Akinola from Columbia Business School
who talked about her research on stressand anxiety and the role that that plays
in individual as well as organizational performance. We also had Amy Edmondson, a
professor from Harvard Business School, whotalked about her research on psychological safety and
(01:55):
why that matters so much as adeterminant of both individual, team and organizational
culture. And don't forget Katie Korwich, who spoke with us about the impediments
presented by negative self talk, particularlyamong women, and Tim Kissanau, who
provided guidance for young professionals around investingin early career building relationships. Now,
(02:20):
we're super excited about the twenty twentyfour season coming up, which is going
to focus on a variety of topicsaround coaching, performance and wellness that lead
to a better version of ourselves thisyear in twenty twenty four. That means
you're going to have the opportunity tolisten to four different kinds of guests talking
with us in twenty twenty four.First, you'll hear about the science and
(02:44):
evidence based insights of professional enhancement coachesworking with a range of different individuals.
Second, thought leaders thinking innovatively abouttalent development and performance. Third, professors
researching essential questions relating to how individuals, teams, and companies can work more
(03:07):
optimally to fulfill their missions. Andlost authors and writers providing evidence based insights
into wellness. And of course, central to our mission here at Idemics is
making coaching accessible for all, andwe do this not just by working with
companies and individuals, but also bymaking this podcast available for free to every
(03:29):
lifelong learner interested in the ways thatthey can continue to grow and develop personally
and professionally. It costs me toask Jamie, how do we define coaching
here and why should it matter toour listeners. So over the summer we
ad Idemics have been spending a lotof time thinking about how do you define
(03:50):
something that is so customized? Butcoaching is really a powerful relationship that helps
every individual cut through the noise anddiscover who you are and what you want
so that you can live your fullestlife. It's really a tool for how
to develop ourselves at every stage ofour lives. It's hard to think in
(04:12):
a sense that when we're children oryoung adults, we've often had teachers or
sports coaches who have been essential toour learning and development, whether that was
in the classroom or in a chosensport. It's odd then to think that
as adults, once we leave college, we're expected to do it all on
our own, with no one toadvise us or cheer us on as we
(04:35):
navigate a multitude of transitions, bothin our personal as well as professional lives.
And that's where really coaching is apowerful tool. It helps you understand
who you are, what you want, and then it gives you the confidence
to move forward. And you dothat with a coach as a thought partner.
(04:57):
When we know who we are andwhat we want, it leads to
our best performance and to us feelingwell, shall we talk about performance?
Yeah, let's do that in spasedculture. So why are we such a
performance based culture you know around usin our society when we're inundated with social
(05:21):
media, and we get all sortsof messages about who we are, who
we should be, how we shouldbehave it's hard to take the time and
find the space to reflect on whatwe actually want. Coaching is an opportunity
to do that. Absolutely, wecannot perform and be our best selves without
(05:46):
having an objective thought partner to helpus navigate the many decisions that we face,
and the problem with the performance basedculture is that it's a set of
externally imposed expectations on us, ourchildren, our family members, our friends,
and no one's happy with that situation. But the only way to change
(06:09):
that is to work with a coachto develop a greater degree of self awareness
of who we are, what valueswe hold dear, and how to implement
those in our daily lives. Soon that note, join us in twenty
twenty four on our journey as webring the power of coaching to you.
