Coach B. You know, we thought to ourselves that we
were done with All Star Football, but clearly we were not.

No, we're not.

And you know, I'm just you know, I'm glad for
the game I'll say that, but a little disappointed because
I'm getting old. And it was my daughter, twenty five
four year old daughter that told me, you know, Dad,
that Saturday, because I'm the wife and I are going
to Vegas and you know the Saturday is an alumni
party for the Grand Cannon University. I already bought my tickets, man,
sixty dollars tickets out of each, already paid for them.

Can't even go to it, man. So but it is
what it is. But it's i'd like they say, it's
all about the kids.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Man, It's all about the kids. And we're really excited
about it. So for the folks that don't know, Coach
be and myself, we host a series of all star games,
one of which is coming up. They call it the
Big Game, and that will be Anelope Valley taking on
Victor Valley and that's all going to go down at

Victor Valley College. We're really excited about that. Coach B.
We have Coach Merez over at Apple Valley. He'll be
taking on Coach Coleman over at the Palmdll High School
over in Anneloe Valley. So though he'll be represented for
Anello Valley, it's gonna be a great game, coach. But
we're really excited about it. Man. Is all going down

on the fifteenth, that's Saturday, and that's going to be
taking place over at Victor Valley, Coach, be I know
you're excited about it, man.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
We are excited.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
But you know one thing I will say is, you know,
the jerseys were supposed to be a Thursday, then Friday,
and then I found out that they're.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Stuck in Japan. Yes, so we still have time.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
We have a week.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Chances are we may have to give the jerseys out
to the kids on game day. But it is what
it is. Yeah, but it is what it is. It'll happen.

I've been in contact with ups. It's there, it's sitting there.
We just got to make sure we get it here.
So we're working on that so that the only hiccup
in the road. And that's why when we first did
the game, they said, hey, why don't you do the
game sooner? This is why, because when we get the jerseys,
they come from overseas.

So yeah, that's that's but it is what it is.
But we'll make it work.

I mean, it's sometimes there's a couple of little glitches
here and there, but one of the things we know
it's always going to work out. We're excited about it.
The I mean, the rosters are already out. If you

Desert All Star Game.

That's Aennela Valley versus Victor Valley. So it's going to
be a great game. I will be driving in in
the morning, but we'll make it work. So we're excited
about that. So he's coming in yes, yes, yes, indeed.
And then we have a lot going on. Are we
set for another collision?

Course?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
When you think about the States, so basketball is unique.
So you have Southern Section titles in the best teams
in the State are in the southern section, and so
these same teams will play each other and then they'll
play again again in the state. And I remember back
in the day when Edawanda and was the Sierra Keny.
You were going back and forth. Oh we beat him
in section, Oh we beat him in state, and they
were both claiming the national championship.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
So gets a little testing.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Yeah, it does. I got a chance to be on
hand and watch that game that you're talking about. A
big shout out to the Toyota Arena. They were just
wonderful hosts. It was a great atmosphere. I mean it
was almost sold out. Again. I'm talking about the CIF
Open Division championship game Ontario Christian versus Edwanda. It was
just a great game. Came down to two points to me,

(04:55):
some of some really interesting cars by the raps, especially
that late with that kind of with that much on
the line. And so but that's either here nor there. Nonetheless,
a great showing by a coach stand in the uh
in the Edlwanda Eagles. But again hats off to coach
Cummings and uh UH and Ontario Christian. Let me tell
you something, they got that the young lady Tatiana. I mean,

you know, obviously special k they got Sydney out there.
They are forced coach b I mean, I you know
for that, for them being that young. I was just
so impressed with the way they responded. Ediwanda made a
big time charge, you know, you know how they you know,
they played defense over there and they made a big
time charge and and Ontario Christian was able to hold
them off. So as you mentioned, uh, they are slated

for a potential rematch in state, but right now they
got big business to take care. As you mentioned, another
rematch happened in with Edawanda. Ediuanda squeaked past by today
last time they competed and that was just by three points.
And then uh, Ontario Christian will have another game against
Sierra Canyon as well. Sierra Kanyon has a standout player

as well, so it's gonna be really really good stuff.
And again it's all happened then to night.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Seven o'clock Modern day at Rwanda. Yeah, and so uh
where's that game at I'll pull it?

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Yeah, yeah, check that out because matter it should be
at home, because because Edwandah won, so they should have
home games all the way up until the finals. Yes,
home playoff game, you are correct, Yeah, which would be
uh in Sacramento, Coach b where they'll be Uh. You know,
we we see those games, you know what I mean.
So I mean, I haven't got a chance to make
it up to you. You know, I don't know. I
may try to see if I can tiptoe myself up.

It's just great to see that, you know. I want
to be up there cheering our girls on because sometimes
when they have to battle teams like Archbishop Mitty, you know,
since they're local, all their players come out there and
it's almost like a home game for Middy.

So yeah, and then we don't wander.

So we said edl Wanda girls play tonight against Modern
Day at seven o'clock at home. Don't forget that we're
in Riverside. Don't forget Hillcrest. Uh, He'll Crest. They have
a home game as well. They're playing against Santa annairest Man. Yeah,
so hill Crest is out there getting it. So their
game for hill Crest, their game will be tonight at
seven pm. And then and then Ontario Christian has Sierra Kenyon.

Now Juju's not there anymore, no, but they have another youngffort.
I think I want to say it's don't give it
that line. I think it might be Zach Randolph's daughter.
I'm not Oh yeah, I know they do have some players.
I'm not sure about that.

I have to check their their status again, so I'll
make sure I'll keep myself honest on that. But as
you mentioned, it's gonna be great. A lot of stuff

about Hillcrest'll Hillcrest is on a historic run right now.
I think it's the first time in their school history
that they've done. I got to make sure Coach B
as we're talking about Hillcrest again, as you mentioned, they'll
be uh, they have a huge game tonight, but I

have to make sure I mentioned big shout out to
my Ramona rams Coach B who again historic historic, historic
made it to State and lost on a really really
tough putback and so unfortunately we won't we won't be
seeing uh, we won't be seeing Ramona going forward. But

them and Polly really just made a really, really great run.
So I got to make sure I get my hats
off to both both those programs who just really really
did a fantastic job this year competed. It was almost
one of those situations, Coach B where it could have
been Ramona and Polly competing for the state championship.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
That would have been epic. Yes, yes, that would have
been good. So that's a good tip the cap to them.
And then also we uh, so we were talking about
Sierra Canyon and Ontario Christian. Seven o'clock at Ontario Christian.
So you think about it, you have three home playoff games.
So if you can't get to one, get to another.

So and as we're talking, Coach B, not to be
outdone Roosevelt. Yes, And and that's.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
A big game right there. You talked about last year.
You keep talking about that game last year, the rematch.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
The rematch, and uh, you know, we had we had
young Isaac h and young and young Miles, Miles the
point guard and Isaac the off guard, and we had
them both kids from Roosevelt High School. We had them
in studio and they said, flat out the team they
want is they want another rematch with Harvard Westlake. Harvard Westlake,

excuse me. So they're going to get that opportunity tonight.
I do believe this is a home game for Roosevelt.
I got to get out to one of these games.
I'm not sure which one, but I got to make
sure I show up to one. I mean, this is
just epic stuff right here. I mean it's not all
the time when you get a chance to see state
playoff games right here in your backyard. You already mentioned
three of them, but this one again will be Harvard

Westlake the Wolverines taking on the Mustangs of Roosevelt eleanor
Roosevelt High School.

And then again you talk about Riverside.

Polly is in there has a home game as well,
taken on Biggersfield's.

Christian Yes, as I was saying they're on a historic run,
I was hoping for Polly to, you know, for Ramona
to stay in there in some form or other so
that way they can have a huge epic rematch that
wuld have been Riverside. I might have shed a tear
on that one. Yeah, But nonetheless they didn't make it.
But you mentioned Polly is in there. I got to

give a big shout out to my guy. H my goodness,
his uh the son his. We we've had actually had
two of two players from Polly competing in our All
Star Games. Before. But uh uh the coach, the basketball
coach over at at Kyle Baptist, the boys basketball coach.

His son is one of the featured players on on
on Riverside Polly as well. So they got a really
really great uh, a lot of great talent over there.
And I'm happy to see Polly doing well.

You love to see it when when you have the
local teams do it and they're doing well, So that's
always always a good thing. And you know, we got
to give a shout out to the locals. And and
I know we're going to have uh, we're gonna have

Uh gcu on a historic twenty six game winning streak
for the women. And it's Senior Night, so I want
to give some love to a local young lady that
went to Corona Centennial. She is from Marino Valley, just
like the Kawhi, Leonard Trinity Sani, San Antonio. She is
its senior Night. So you want to let me look

at this, look at her resume eternal. She was the
whack Player of the Week. She played in the twenty
twenty four Paris Summer Games with the Puerto Rican Puerto
Rico national team, and she is right here from the IE.
So I want to give a shout out to her,

And again, real quick, I was able to bring up
the list of me that the roster real quick for
Riverside Polly, and it was KROI. It looks like j
Rob kroy is his name. That's the young that's the gen.
He's only a junior at six' five. JUNIOR i remember
he was a. KID i was gonna say that is
that Coach kreus as coach Croy. Son he used to
play with my nephew and he was just a little small.

Kid always had a great jump. Shot he didn't grew six'.
Five now and the OTHER gentleman i was talking about
Was Miss. Chris holland he's. A scene i GOT to
i got to. MAKE sure i talked to his dad
and said we can get him In An all. Star
Game But chris holland his brother Went To Fresno, fresno
state and he actually played In Our All star game
a couple of. Years ago so with the fact we
know the family, well again we're really really looking forward.

TO it i have to also give a big shout
out To Young chris no where's? His name right here
there Is Young. Jackson duffy i've known him since he
was a baby and so so. So again, really really,
you know it's a really home field. Right there put
the kids over the riverside polt and.

how you COACH when i was doing the broadcasting over
there for the women's BASKETBALL and i was just really
impressed with how, you know how the command, you had
how you were interacting with the women's the women of.

The Team and i'm happy to see that now you
got you got your hands on the steering. Wheel now
but kind of give us some background about, you know,
you know obviously we know where you, are now but
kind of talk to o artists a little bit about
how you got to be where. You, ARE yeah i.

Appreciate, it obviously it's a great opportunity to BE At
uc riverside now leading the women's. Basketball program but just
just to start.

FROM where i.

Came from to, BE honest i Came from sacramento AND
so i started in, high school had opportunity there to
move on to coach At the University. Of hawaii started
there as assistant worked on, player development and then moved
On To Grant. Can university was there obviously big in
player development than, and recruiting scouting and, game planning and
then transition over TO You, C riverside so then had

opportunity to step in as interim head coach and then
move forward into leading.

The program NOW did i hear my? Alma mind look
at you?

ALMOST lost i thought he was gonna pass out and
tear it up a.

Little, bit coach sorry, about that but tell me a
little bit.

About that i'm glad you pointed, That.

OUT coach a lot of times when when when, you
know when you see, a coach you.

The journey not everyone Has A lebron james and they

But a lot of times you have to do. The
hustle you have.

To grind and you and and and talk, about that
how taxes your family. And whatnot and you're living here or.
Living there what's that journey like?

For you?

Coach man the journey.

IS tough, i mean obviously you doing what, you love
but there's also a sacrifice that always comes in with
doing what.

You love.

You, know, so uh just a long.

Hours scouting i'm traveling on the road in and out,
of cities, game planning supporting student athletes.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
At a while while you have, you know a.

Family YOURSELF so i have a, you know a young
daughter fifteen years old and she's been, with me supporting
me through this this, process also so it's, been huge
but definitely takes a taxing toll on, Your family so
you really have to make sure they're the supportive.

Of View and i'm a father to name drop what's your?
DAUGHTER'S name.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
A mirror there.

You go That's what i'm.

About that you, gotta, yeah yeah out to a mayraor
no doubt. About, it now now you got you have
a very. Special, team uh you guys are doing Some
phenomenal Coach b he's going to read off the stat,
you know we were really, really yeah we got.

To give him love a twelve.

Game turnaround that is The if i'm reading your, bio,
correctly coach that is the best in.

School.

History, yeah yeah so talk. About that i'm sure that's the.
Major accomplishment and uh and again obviously kudos to you
and your staff and obviously, The players but talk about
that amazing effort and how you're able to.

Speaker 9 (18:59):
Accomplish, THAT yeah, i, mean honestly it really started, with,
culture right like spending the off season really making sure
that our players, are connected investing into the, game plan
and just ready to compete night in and. Night, out
obviously when you're trying to rebuild and establish a, new
culture you really have to make sure that the foundation.

Is solid so we spent a lot of time on just.

Speaker 9 (19:18):
Our conditioning get making sure our players were, in shape
ready for the game plan as far as pressing in
UP tempo, styli defense pushing the ball, on transition and
just taking advantage of opportunities night in and.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Night out that's good stuff. Right there and again we're
right Here Live Fox. Sports radio we Have coach langston
right here FROM The Uc. Riverside, highlanders, now no you
have again you have some huge stuff, going on but
you have some phenomenal players. As well talk about these
these two women that we have in. Studio again, You
know i'm sure that you know you got a whole,
roster player but talk about these two women that we

have a studio. Other, day yeah obviously two. Special.

Players here We Have, shelley duscherman who's Actually From. LOS
angeles i Went To Whenward. High school she's been a
great addition for us as a transfer student athlete From.
Northern colorado she's a forward slash guard who obviously gets
downhill mid range, is nice and then she gets to,
her spots so we love her and her. Competitive spirit

then on top, of that We Have hannah wickstrom Who's. From,
australia wow and she's just a, competitive freshman really can shoot,
the basketball has a great feel for, the game and
just really knows how just to make place.

For, Others now coach b was talking ABOUT That uc
riverside has this thing where you guys able to get.
INTERNATIONAL players i mean it's not the first time you
guys have. Done that you guys have. That thing what
talk to us about that process of how you were
able to acquire that kind.

Speaker 9 (20:43):
Of, Talent yeah so international recruiting is really about relationships
and you have to really make sure that you have
sound contacts in. The country so we have some really
good Relationships in Australia.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
And spain we've had Some.

Speaker 9 (20:56):
In france so just having those contacts that really can
get you to get you in contact with the players
and just have a good research to make sure you supports.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
The, Basketball, NOW coach i know you're not as old.
As me you look like you could still be out
there playing high. School BASKETBALL but i just saw the
when you talk about. International players this is something that
got me thinking. ABOUT this i just watched the movie
About the olympic team that just, won gold and then
they talked a little bit About The. DREAM team i
remember when they put that. Team together the influence of the,

INTERNATIONAL game, i mean now you have the, transfer portal
you have. International players just talk about the explosion. Of basketball, they're,
SAYING now i think we IN. The mvp we haven't
Had an AMERICAN born mvp in what?

Six?

Years yeah what about that?

Speaker 9 (21:39):
International, GAME yeah i mean basketball is really exploded across.
THE world i think that's something that's really amazing. For
us it's really it just inspired a better basketball i think.
All across with that, being Said, in, australia right they
play a different brand. Of basketball we really share the
basketball fundamentals, Is. Huge right and then obviously when you
have another places where you have these academies that are

really really focusing on skill development and flow. OF team
i think that that's really inspired just the game here
for us Recruiting stad.

Point and they'll get them young and they'll play together
and it's'saly we're saying. By friends they play together every
year and they.

send that through and they have contacts with college coaches,
and yeah and then you schedule like zoom meetings and
it's hard to do, it virtually like, you know you
don't they don't get to see you play, in PERSON
and i think that's like a very different thing than.

On film you don't get to feel like the energy, and,
Everything right but it worked out, for me and, YOU
know i found us riverside and spoke With coach brad
on zoom calls, and YEAH and i eventually committed here
and it was really exciting and coming over here to
a brand, new country it was, great.

a spot for me on his staff up here to

game and what you've seen with this game kind of
maybe kind of just Talk about miles for a little.

Quick, second yeah, you know being born and Raised the
riverside IN, the ie there's been some great basketball that's
come come through THE. I e and in my fifty,
five years, you KNOW watching i always say that there's
been three true point Guards that, i've noticed and and

WE four i, would Say and billy, his uncle, His
dad TONY who i played WITH AT, rcc Yep And
lamont Butler at riverside probably were true point GUARDS that.
I remember And now miles is in that in that category.

and he would be a little six year old type
trying to play with the. Grown boys, you know he's
just as a competitor and he knows how. To win

like when we were growing Up, in RIVERSIDE when i,
was playing there was an influx of people just the county.
Was growing so people are moving FROM the la area
all the way you know To the inland, you know
to get affordable housing and and get out OF the.

La area and that talent has trickled all the way
To The. Inland empire but, you know it's it's always
been there and now it is just enhanced because of
how fast the county has grown and you.

Know what the growth and everything. THAT'S happening i hear

first met you your daughter was in. High school i'm.
A father i know you are a, proud father, married
father two, great kids.

Unfortunately we didn't Make Our big ten tournament, this year and.
It's done it's just like, you said it's just an.
Exciting time, you know it's a different it's a, clean
slate it's a. New season so everybody you will, see
recharge regenerated and giving themselves a chance to MAKE the.
Ncaa tournament but this, this Conference The Big ten conference

has eighteen teams and only they only take fifteen to
the To The big. Ten tournament and, you know, for
us it was a rough year because for All The
west coast SCHOOLS s c might not make it easy
for us On the. West coast we have to go
back east and there's six six day road trips and

you're trying to adjust to, the time and by the time,
you adjust you're coming. Back home and then you got
to readjust To the west coast and you're playing in
two days Where The east coast teams With The east,
coast teams they only come out here once They, PLAY
seattle I, Mean, washington oregon or THEY'LL play USC or

a Oregon and washington have to go back there three
to three and. Four times they Got to they got
