that chance to sleep in.

Speaker 7 (02:03):
So yeah, it's good to have some downtime and have
a just a break. And no, I take that back.
We had a chance to my wife's friend. I mean,
we're we're all class of nine three, we're all turning
fifty this year. So my wife's friend turned turned fifty.
It was she had a party actually in Riverside.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
We went in the evening. It was a nice party.
So it was I'll tip my cap to her.

Speaker 7 (02:24):
And now, you know, the downside of going is the
wife looked at me and says, I need one of these.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
It's like, so she said, sign me up for that.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
Yes, yes she did so I said, okay, happy wife,
happy life.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
So I'll have to figure it out.

Speaker 7 (02:40):
So yeah, but she wants to have a fiftieth birthday party,
so we'll do it. Her birthday is in August, so
we will do that. She's already told said she wants
to rent out the Jesse Turner Center. She's already talking
to caterers. Oh she's she's not messing. I say, hey,
the backyard is a great place. And she looked at
me like I just cussed at her or something. I

(03:00):
mean that look that she had at me. I knew
that the backyard just is not going to suit it.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
That's funny.

Speaker 7 (03:05):
But one thing I wanted to want to say, I
have to tell my daughter I stand on business. I
am him because my daughter told me the other day
Dad stopped using my words on air. Oh so I
want my daughter to know. She says she has friends
that listen to the show. She has spies. So if
her friends are listening, Dad is him?

Speaker 9 (03:25):
No?

Speaker 8 (03:26):
Yeah, because you because our interviews, that is your thing
with the interviews.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Are you him? Are you?

Speaker 8 (03:32):
Everybody kind of looks at you with that little look
like Okay, I see what he's doing again. We're alive
Coach bing Eternal Gray Saturday morning. We have a jam
packed show for you guys today. It's just been a
great week. We want to make sure we didn't get
a chance to We want air see we want to
on air the week after our All Star game.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
But I have to have to.

Speaker 8 (03:53):
Give a huge shout out to all of our supporters,
primarily the Riverside Sheriff's Association.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
For their tireless work.

Speaker 8 (04:02):
They've been supporting us from day one, and uh we
did our rs a Inland Empire All Star basketball game
at Marina Valley High School.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
It was a success, a triple header.

Speaker 8 (04:13):
And again we want to make sure we think, uh,
not only do the shrifes, also Marina Valley High School,
the staff and everybody there that made that happen.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Again, it was an eighth grade game.

Speaker 8 (04:22):
Eighth grade Sambardina was versus Riverside and Sambordino.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (04:27):
Uh they failed to Riverside in a in a you know, tough, tough,
tough situation, but nonetheless, h they failed. And then we
had the girls girls game came down to it was
an overtime thriller, really really a good game. Coach be
did some fun fan please go to our our YouTube
and checked out. It was really really nice. But Coach
b did a wonderful job with the commentary on now one.

(04:48):
But yeah, it was an overtime thriller. Uh, that was
a Sambordino one. So you know that was tough for
coach Larry because I was his house right there.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Coach b. Uh.

Speaker 8 (04:56):
And then also we had the boys game that came
down to a one point Uh. It really really came
out at one point ninety one ninety and Riverside was
triumpher in that Miles Walker championship.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
Miles Walker was and you said him and beyond the
best person. Both coaches, both coaches, which is rare. We know,
we never get that. We never get a coach. We
had him in the studio early as we did, yes,
and you were talking about him for a minute saying
he is.

Speaker 8 (05:19):
Him, He's the real deal. So it was great to
see that. So again, thanks to everybody. We appreciate that.
Uh and again you know we're gonna we're looking forward
to it. We have a lot of different stuff coming
up to make sure you follow us at I Sports Now.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
However, we do have just roll right into it. Yeah, busy,
that's what we're gonna do. Let's just do it. Man.

Speaker 8 (05:35):
We have very very special guests right here. I was
trying to count coach b seventeen. What's after seventeen?

Speaker 7 (05:41):
It's eighteen. But you know, I think they may have
one since they've been here.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Want game, They just want another game like that.

Speaker 8 (05:48):
They just show up, you know, So we have these
gentlemen it they may even have I remember because uh,
these gentlemen may have one. I really like the pinch stripes.
I was coach. I'm glad you guys wore that any
because put that microphone up. Please introduce yourself to our
live radio audience.

Speaker 10 (06:05):
Yeah, I head baseball coach here at some high school
coach Samuel Lopez.

Speaker 8 (06:09):
There it is right there, coach. Thank you so much
for being in studio today. Really happy to have you here. Coach,
talk about this phenomenal run. Have you ever been a
part of a run like this before? I mean eighteen wins?
Obviously you guys have you know, over a handful of
recruits that are going somewhere to the next level. To
talk about how special the team is and how it's meant.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
For you personally.

Speaker 10 (06:30):
No, definitely very special. The majority of these guys have
been up on varsity with us for the last for
you know, all four years, so we've been on runs
like this before. This is our longest run eighteen wins.
I think last year they had fourteen in a row.
Their sophomore year they had fifteen in a row. So
that this streek just started a little bit earlier and
hopefully in the last four games of regular season play

(06:51):
we get another four in a row and finished this
very strong.

Speaker 8 (06:54):
So obviously, you guys played I think it was Grand
Chairs yesterday, Is that correct?

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Correct? So they must have got.

Speaker 7 (06:59):
The memo that you got coming on the radio because
they were trying to play you guys tough.

Speaker 8 (07:03):
It was a two to one victory, But talk about
those victim I'm sure all those victories sometimes are tough.
You guys having a will it out? What would you
say is one of the components the reason why you
guys have been had that streak.

Speaker 10 (07:13):
I think the biggest component, like on any good team,
is going to be pitching and defense. Our defense and
pitching was the key yesterday. They played us a really tough.
Their starting pitcher was really really on his game yesterday,
and it was one that they almost set up at
the end. I think our right fielder throughout the tying
run at home plate ten game, but you know, we
had our starting pitcher go five scoreless, gave up one
in the seventh. But it's it's really been our pitching

(07:36):
that's been kind of the backbone of this season. We're
really deep this season, which allows us to our offense
to kind of keep, you know, keep doing what they've
been doing as well.

Speaker 7 (07:43):
Fantastic and I love it now. I love the blue
You know the pin stripes are tough for you, coach.
I'm a Dodger fan, I think in New York. But
when I look at your record, you're twenty one and three,
and you guys played a lot of people, say Corona's
number one in the nation. You guys played them competitive,
So you guys have a serious team. It's not like
you guys got some of those fluke wins. So what

(08:04):
is special about this team this year?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Coach?

Speaker 10 (08:06):
Like I said, I really feel what's been special is
these core guys have been up since their freshman year.
And I really you know, what I really take the
heart is a lot of these guys are belong to something.
You know, they're coming from from a lot of these
guys played together since they were five, six, seven years old,
either against each other or with each other. So they're
from our community. You know, they've been developed here. They
chose to go to their home school here at Summing

(08:28):
and that means a lot where in the past. I
think before I got to some and a lot of
guys were going other places. You know, if we always
felt if we could just keep the talent here and
some you know, and and hopefully we continue to do
that we can develop it. Our our coaching, our coaching, Uh,
you know, staff does a really really great, really great
job we do to develop to move these guys along,
and we're proven, you know, when we get the talent,

(08:51):
we're able to move these guys on and and be
very successful. Shout out to our coaching staff, J. G. Duggins,
the FEMA dees and uh, you know, and all of them.
For sure. I really appreciate them.

Speaker 7 (09:02):
And when you say that, coach, because I live in Fontana.
My kids went to East Heritage Heritage and the they
had to go down to Waning.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Because that's what the school district was.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
But I've we've been in Fontana since early two thousand
and that's always been the thing. When people say, if
you could keep the talent here in Fontana, the talent
you can develop.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
What does that say about your culture? Coach?

Speaker 7 (09:20):
It sounds like you guys have built a culture that
is is keeping your kids there.

Speaker 10 (09:24):
No, definitely, And it starts with winning, you know.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeah, that helps.

Speaker 10 (09:28):
We started from the beginning, uh, you know, year one
when we kind of took over there. Uh you know,
I was at a lower division, but it went from there.
I think when we got there. It was Division five,
Division six. We've never competed in Division one, and that's
about to happen this year. You know, it's been it's
been a lot of work and UH, but you know,
the consistency from our from our coaching staff, like I said,
and these guys believing in us and our parents in

(09:50):
the community believing in you know, trusting us with their
with their UH with their sons and making sure we
can develop A shout out to JG. I want to
make sure I don't forget. Yeah, he's he's a He's
a big part of it, too.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Fantastic.

Speaker 10 (10:00):
Yeah, it's it's really been a blessing to have these
guys UH with this talent and the trust, like I said,
in the community that we continue to get good, good
ball players.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
In and we love it. So we want to bring
something business.

Speaker 8 (10:10):
I'm in high school right here, live and still some
in high school. The UH help me out real quick.

Speaker 7 (10:15):
The Skyhawks about say, I about to see the Skyhawks
right there.

Speaker 8 (10:20):
Of some in high school. Coach, thank you so much.
We're gonna go ahead. We're gonna bring up some of
their players again. We have some at high school.

Speaker 7 (10:24):
You know, I love it I've watched that Schooby built year.
It was ninth and tenth graders because my wife's sister
in laws, our stepsisters darted graduated.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
There and they were ninth and tenth and then they
moved up. But we watched that Schooby built. It's great
to see where it's coming to.

Speaker 8 (10:36):
Yeah, no, no doubt about it. I mean, I mean
we were watching the football may they.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Used to play. We got something from no question. Put
that microphone up and don't play basketball.

Speaker 7 (10:46):
I say, he's like, I do whatever.

Speaker 8 (10:50):
All right, young man, please put our microphone and introduce
yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Please.

Speaker 11 (10:54):
My name is Dylan Harrison. I am picture outfitter at
some high school and I'm committed to Clemson Universe.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Oh fantastic.

Speaker 8 (10:59):
I'm not going to Randy Johnson. I did my I
did my homework. That's good stuff. Now, now again, what
a season. You guys had a phenomenal season coming off
of eighteen wins. That is no, no, nothing, Uh the
compact man, that's the great stuff. But talk to as
a player, what would you say is the reason behind

(11:20):
your success this year?

Speaker 11 (11:22):
The reason behind our success this year is definitely obviously
a great group of players. You know, a lot of friendship,
water camaraderie between the guys. Coaching staff is an amazing
job developing us strength and conditioning every week. I probably
didn't go to something I wouldn't be where I am today.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Nice, right?

Speaker 7 (11:37):
You know the one thing I always like to ask
when you're on the on you're on the mound and
you're looking at the picture and you know you're about
to give him that gas, do you ever say to yourself?

Speaker 1 (11:44):
You know, is it like a personal matchup between you
and him?

Speaker 7 (11:46):
How does that work out when you see that because
you know what he wants to hit, you know what
you want to throw.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
It's at the chess match. Oh, it's definitely a person.

Speaker 11 (11:53):
Every time you step up there, you know they're trying
to take away something that you want badly, and you
know every time you hop they're trying to give your
team competitive innings and help them win the game every time.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Fantastic, Good time, real quick.

Speaker 7 (12:05):
Now, tell everybody what was behind the decision to go
to Clemson. Obviously that's a huge school, have a have
a dynamic program. But talk to us a little bit
of the background behind making that decision.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Oh, you know.

Speaker 11 (12:15):
I love the coaching staff there. I love what they're
building over there, big, big time program. Obviously, most people
know him for football, most likely national.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Champions, Yeah exactly, but uh yeah.

Speaker 11 (12:24):
They're building a great baseball program over there. I think
the number two in the nation right now, yep, playing
real competitive ball. And I just love what they're doing
over there. I love the strength and conditioning and development
programs they got.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
And the colors aren't bad either.

Speaker 7 (12:34):
Huh yeah, good stuff right there in California. About come back,
come come back and see us. But again, thank you
so much, man, and congratulations you commitment.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Thank you. There it is Fox Sports Radio right here.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
Yeah, man, we have the sum in high school, the
Skyhawks baseball team right here.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Again.

Speaker 8 (12:51):
They are coming off a very competitive eighteen game winning streak.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Young man. Put out microphone up, introduce yourself to a
love radio audience.

Speaker 9 (12:57):
Plays, I'm Ryan Oakes' picture at some of high school,
and I'm committed to Calsey Northridge.

Speaker 8 (13:02):
Fantastic good stuff right there. Now again, I'll ask you
the same thing.

Speaker 9 (13:05):
Man.

Speaker 8 (13:05):
Now, let me ask you this because again, I you
know what, what was a game this this this season?
I mean again eighteen wins, big time stuff. But what
was a game this season where you really felt your
team coming together and you were like, hey, this team
is special.

Speaker 12 (13:18):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (13:19):
I think it was before the wind streak started. Uh,
the Servete game in the so Cal Showdown. Uh, it
just felt like everyone was pulling on the same rope,
Like guys weren't doing their job, but there were definitely
guys behind them that were gonna they were gonna back
them up and get it done.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
For him, I say, he's humble. If you'd asked me
a question, I said, when I put my uniform, you know,
but right, son, I know a kid that's that's at
CE sun Nymer.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
What is Uh? What was your decision of going there?

Speaker 13 (13:45):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (13:46):
I mean I had a couple of other options, but
they definitely like they they showed the most interest. They
they showed that they really wanted me, and uh, that
was a big part of it. I also loved the
coaching staff over there, Like they're great people, great like family,
Like they're all together over there.

Speaker 7 (14:02):
That must be nice, eternal. I had choice. I had
a few options right there. Well, young man, again, thank
you so much for being in the studio. Congratulates keep
up the good work.

Speaker 8 (14:11):
Okays radio right there, that's good stuff right there, man,
These young men are really doing some special stuff. And
again some in high school, live in studio baseball right here,
young man, put.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
That microphone up. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Place.

Speaker 14 (14:23):
My name is Ian Stewart and I go to some
high school. I'm the catcher there and I'm committed to
Cordia University.

Speaker 8 (14:28):
Now catchers, man, you guys are some some interesting folks, man,
because my knees hurt just watching you guy, right.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
I mean, every time I see it, I'm like, oh God.
I mean, they'll do it for years. No, no, I'm saying,
and they could throw off the stuff.

Speaker 8 (14:39):
I mean for the for audience who is in baseball
fanatics like us, Oh you know what, you know who
enjoy baseball like You're probably more of a fantasy than
I am. But but please talk to us about the
what what goals all into the preparation for being a catcher.

Speaker 14 (14:53):
I mean, being a catcher, you gotta the other whole game.
You're controlling the staff, you gotta keep your body right,
and when you're not doing the best, you also have
to know that you you're backing up your team, like
it's not all about you, like you're you're there to
help the team that the most. Like, you gotta know
your pictures. You gotta know your staff. You gotta know
who you're working with, who you're facing. You gotta know
the pictures that they're gonna work with. You gotta know teams,

(15:14):
gripes and stuff like that. And Yeah, it's just a
lot that goes into it, especially like talking to my
coaches before games, Like we have whole charts that I
have to look through the night before to see what
the team's tendencies are and stuff.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
It's super nice. So he's like the quarterback. Everybody got
quarterback right there. Quarterback. So I'll tell you.

Speaker 7 (15:30):
So when you're on let's say you're you're about to
catch a pitch and you see the guy that's cheating
on first base, do you say to.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Yourself do it? How do you?

Speaker 7 (15:40):
How do you alert your picture to get out of
the way. That's what I always said that I see
that because the catcher jump on and just throw a
rocket and the picture and you think you hit the picture,
but the picture gets out of the way.

Speaker 14 (15:51):
I mean, I'm aggressive catcher. I'm gonna throw it at
anyone that's little off the bat.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Everyone knows.

Speaker 14 (15:58):
Everyone knows to get back to the bag because I'm
I'm be gonna throw it there at least one.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Okay, now you're a Dodger fan. No, I'm a Pirates fan.
Oh okay, hey, you know what that it looked.

Speaker 8 (16:06):
I respect that because the Pirates is not like I'm
gonna say, but you know I respect that. Well, young man, again,
thank you so much. Congratulations on the phenomenal season and
best luck to you. Okay, real quick, tell everybody where
you're coming to again.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I'm sorry, concredit University.

Speaker 8 (16:20):
And fantastic congratulations on real congratulations on that too. Yes, ah,
young man, here we go. Fox Sports Radio. Go ahead,
introduce yourself to our live radio artists. Please put that
microphone up. Introduce yourself please.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
I'm Cody Smathers.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
I'm right hand the picture and high school. Okay, fantastic
committed the cow Baptist University cu.

Speaker 8 (16:38):
CD you all right, yeah, now real quick, let our
audience know. I mean again, this has been a phenomenal,
phenomenal year for you guys. Uh, but talking to us
real quick about what was the game for you? I'll
see the same one of your teammate. What was the
game for you to kind of stood out this this
season for you as as as as individually that you

(17:00):
saw your team really coming together.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
I would definitely say the so called showdown, we really
pulled together as a team. We all played with heart
and stuck together and stick to the game plan. And
I also want to give a shout out to our
pitching coach, coach Dunis Duggins. I think he helped us
out a lot with our pitching staff and helped us
really command our games and get us to where we are.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Fantastic.

Speaker 7 (17:19):
I love it so humble now, you know, don't don't
laugh at me, don't look down upon me. I'm an antelope. Yeah,
but don't hit you with a right right right? I
know so, But you know what, man, I like you.
I like the way you came in. So humble. Man,
I love you. Gonna make me root for for cbu
I love it, man, I love it. But with that,
what was and it's I know, it's local, it's up
the street, very good baseball program. What was the decision

(17:41):
for you to go to a really good academic school
as well? What was the decision to go to CBU.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
I would say, really just the coaching staff. They're all
really uh really humble as well over there and really
uh family together, and they really like really helped me
make my decision. And you know, I like the facilities
and the way they developed play over there, and I
just it was just an easy pick for me.

Speaker 7 (18:03):
Say, we were there at the last amazing.

Speaker 8 (18:06):
We were saying how they were doing the timing up there.
I mean, you know, it was impressed. I mean, and
that was that was two years ago. Good school, Good school.
So we'll congratulations. I say, hey, I say, you can
still go go home and get my home cooking.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
You don't have to stay the dorm.

Speaker 8 (18:20):
Well, young man, best of luck to you, keep up
the good working again you guys, congratulates on the phenomenal season.
There it is Fox Sports Radio again. We have the
eighteen game winning streak. Yes, uh, Summit Skyhawks right here
live for CU. See look at that, man, My man
got a nice polo on that. Yourself got some great hair. Yeah,
I introduce yourself to a lot of radio audience.

Speaker 15 (18:39):
Plays James Guerrero and I'm a right handed picture outfielder
and a catcher.

Speaker 8 (18:44):
And you got the voice yeah, I'm about to say,
do you want to do you want to donate some
hair to it?

Speaker 9 (18:48):
Do us?

Speaker 16 (18:48):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (18:48):
Guys, I mean come on, man, help us out now?
So no real quick man, You guys are a phenomenal season.
But talk about your coaching staff. Man again, I heard
a couple of your players talk about the coaching staff
talk about you know, what they've done for you personally
and how you so they've helped you guys contribute to
this phenomenal season you guys have this year.

Speaker 15 (19:03):
Yeah, we got a great coaching staff, all the guys.
You got our great pitching coach. Duggins love him and
uh Lopez's He's been great all four years that I've
been up here.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
And JG.

Speaker 15 (19:17):
He's been a big help too. He's stand up guy
and I've been with him since I was like thirteen.
But it's it's been a great journey with them. They
really helped me grow fantastic player.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
And you know one thing I always want to ask
when you let's say, you know they're trying to someone's
trying to steal third still home, Still home, and you
know the pitch is coming to you, do you brace you?

Speaker 17 (19:40):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (19:40):
I thought you said I do both because.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
A catcher and when you see them coming down because
they can't do the rules like they used to. I
mean they used to blow up the catch. Yeah, but
I mean do you dig in? What what do you
do when you see them coming? You put your shoulder out?

Speaker 1 (19:53):
What do you do? You get ready?

Speaker 15 (19:55):
You brace, maybe drop the shoulder, but really make sure
that mask is on.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
When they thought you stand over saying don't do that again?
Right over? I love it. I love it. That's good stuff.
Right there were real quick talk.

Speaker 8 (20:09):
About talk about where you're going to be going next
year and talk about the decision winning that process.

Speaker 15 (20:13):
I'm going to be going to Anna Little Valley College.
It's a community college on in Lancast.

Speaker 8 (20:18):
Out there is out there Manchoo Ray School school out there.
That's good stuff. Right well, congratulations young man. Keep up
the good work and you're doing a phenomenal job out there. Okay,
there it is Fox Sports Radio. We are right here live.
We have the eighteen coming off of an eighteen game
author eighteen or author eighteenth win in the eighteen game
winning street. Young man, please port that microphone up, introduce
your stuff to our live radio aartience.

Speaker 18 (20:38):
Please my name Isaac casting On and I am my
outfitter for summer baseball.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Okay, okay, okay, So now how is that?

Speaker 9 (20:46):
Now?

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Let me take you something that's where I can play
in the outfit men, because I don't want the ball
coming out.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
There too fast to me. Now you know what I mean?
I want to catch the fly ball. But talk about
the season.

Speaker 8 (20:54):
Eighteen games on a winning street is phenomenal, But talk
about this this?

Speaker 1 (20:59):
What this?

Speaker 13 (20:59):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (21:00):
Is there like a game to kind of stood out
for you where you had a personal game, like where
you your game is really going for you personally this
this year, I feel like.

Speaker 18 (21:07):
Again I set up was the probably a game a
few gays ago against Grand Terrace where we're down one
to zero until the fifth inning and I started off
getting a hit and everything just clicked from there.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
And how is that?

Speaker 18 (21:18):
Man?

Speaker 1 (21:18):
How does that? What do you think? That kind of
what do you have to do?

Speaker 8 (21:20):
Like when you where do you kind of like when
you maybe get slumping a little bit and you got
to get a hit because baseball's tough, man, Baseball is
the tough sports.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Tough hit that ball.

Speaker 18 (21:27):
I just work more harder than anything when I'm in
a slump, but I don't try to change my swing
because then that's really bad.

Speaker 7 (21:32):
Yeah, I got to Okay, and then that's one thing
about baseball, Like you said a lot of times, more
times than not, you're not going to get on base,
You're not going to get a hit.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
How do you keep your head in the game to say, hey,
you just is it like Kobe?

Speaker 7 (21:42):
You say hey, when Kobe said, hey, the next shot
going down, you say, the next HiT's going out of
the park.

Speaker 19 (21:47):
I mean, I don't really try to force anything.

Speaker 18 (21:49):
I just try to prep for the game and then
go in there knowing that I'm gonna be the best
and just play as hard as I can every day.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
There you go. Now we start to ask are you
a Dodger fan Padre fan? Are you? Are you from
this area or standire? Goodness, I'm from this area. How
did that? How did that? Oh? It's because my.

Speaker 19 (22:09):
Brother's going to the playing.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
With the Okay, that.

Speaker 7 (22:15):
Was that Padre. I was born and raised the Lakers fan.
The Clippers hired me exactly, so I changed So I
get I get it. We did it three tickets.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
That's the next question.

Speaker 8 (22:25):
You know, Okay, real quick and let anybody know where
you're gonna be going next year and kind of the
decision that went into that.

Speaker 18 (22:33):
I'm going to Lumbi State, and the reason why I
went there is because they have good coaching stuff and
I like how they playing stellars, how they play hard.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
They got they got some uniforms. They still call themselves
the dirt bags. Yeah, okay, I love it. I love it.

Speaker 7 (22:45):
Their stadium is off campus and I got lost trying
to find it. Yeah, years ago, unless they built a
new one. But your brother talked about your brother. He's
in the organization or is he with the padres?

Speaker 1 (22:53):
He is in the organization. Okay, what's your brother's name?

Speaker 8 (22:55):
Marco's casting fantastic, Well, young man, keep up to good work.
Thank you so much for being the studio.

Speaker 9 (22:59):
Was it say?

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Okay, thank you?

Speaker 8 (23:01):
There it is right there, Fox Sports Radio again. We
have Summit the Skyhawks right here. They're coming off a
huge eighteenth game win. In their eighteen game win, street,
young man, put out microphone up, introduce yourself to our
live ready audience.

Speaker 13 (23:12):
My name is Sammy Lopez, my middle infielder for Summit
and I'm committed a cal Baptist University.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Okay, fantastic another cal Baptist, and I like the thirteen chain.

Speaker 7 (23:20):
If you want to, if you want to, you want
to t I'm like, yeah, yeah, I'm feeling that. That's
good stuff.

Speaker 8 (23:24):
Now real quick again, talk about this matter of fact.
You must be coaching son y. Yeah, Oh, I bet
that's fun on the team, isn't it.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
That's the one thing I wish I would have coached
my son if I could go back. My dad coached me.
So I'm being funny with you. I know how that goes.

Speaker 8 (23:38):
But but real quick, I talk about this season been
phenomenal for you guys. Uh is there a game that
kind of stood out for you this season where you say, hey, man,
the team is really on it and you saw something special.

Speaker 19 (23:48):
Probably during the So Call Showdown.

Speaker 13 (23:51):
That's when we really like clicked as a team and
threw a lot of struggle and adversity. We strived and
we love facing like the hard competition because a team
that's like not on the radar, but this year we are,
so we like to, you know, put our name out.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
There fantastic this time.

Speaker 7 (24:06):
So explain to me the show that you've had a
couple of people talking about that. Where was that and
what was it like.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
A tournament with teams came from all over to play.

Speaker 19 (24:12):
Yeah, it was about the beach.

Speaker 13 (24:13):
So it's a lot of teams like in the state
that are like highly ranked or like perfect Game as well.
But it's all like the top teams and like Corona survey.
So it's a lot of a lot of competition, a
lot of hard folk games.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
That says a lot for them to be invited out,
no doubt about it.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
And obviously you guys did well over there, so that
showed up. I mean I kind of showed up the
schools on the map.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Now.

Speaker 19 (24:31):
Yeah, yeah, it's really fun.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Did it for fun? So you and your teammate gon
gonna room together?

Speaker 9 (24:35):
Dorm?

Speaker 19 (24:38):
Yeah, we'll be rooming together.

Speaker 7 (24:39):
Okay, that's beautiful camp, it really, yes, man, beautiful camp.

Speaker 8 (24:43):
Well, congratulations, young man. Best of luck to you. Keep
up the good work. Okay, thank you, bring coach back.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
Well, I was gonna say last time I was there
because I went to GCU and you guys in basketball,
you guys didn't treat us well.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Man, y'all ran aside the GM. Yeah, you hurt my feeling.
So that's what we do. That's what we do. For
young man. I can't wait to see you out there man,
next next on the next level. Keep up the good work. Okay,
thank you there.

Speaker 8 (25:02):
We're gonna being coach back in real quick again. These
guys are coming off of really they're doing some fantastic
I got a great group there.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Anytime you have that.

Speaker 8 (25:10):
Many guys going to the next level, obviously that that
shows a lot about the program and where you guys are.
But talk real quick about what's next for you guys
when the playoffs come in and how what do you
think your mindset is about going to the next level.

Speaker 10 (25:22):
Yeah, we got four league games left, two weeks left.
We have Bloomington High School next week, and we finish
up with rialto with the following Monday Wednesday. So keep doing.
What we're doing is taking one game at a time
now really thinking about the second, third, or fourth even
playoffs at this point. Finish out the season strong, nailed
down this league championship, and set ourselves up with these
power rankings to hopefully be in the top ten going

(25:44):
into Division one playoffs. So yeah, that's that's really the
plan is to keep this thing rolling and uh, you know,
finish strong and keep that momentum into the playoffs.

Speaker 8 (25:53):
League is a tough Yeah, yeah it is, man, So
we'll Congratulate'm sorry, pay Yeah.

Speaker 7 (25:56):
I was gonna say, coach, it's good you have kids
that had options and choices for me, internal tt that's
what the U t I the janitor program. I was like, hey,
I'm come in there with a whole suit man.

Speaker 8 (26:04):
So again, congratulations, Please keep us up, keep please keep
us updated. Excuse me on where you guys are going
to go, so that way we can make sure we
promoted you guys got a great program. We love to
see something doing well. Again, as suppose he said, we've
literally watched that school be built. Man, we've been as
you know, since the groundbreak.

Speaker 7 (26:19):
And if you know one thing I just asked at
that Ash, let's have a dad moment.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Let's talk about this.

Speaker 7 (26:24):
Your son, he's going to CBU, one of the you know,
great academic school.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Free ride.

Speaker 7 (26:28):
How was that for you as a parent, because if
my kids would have got a free ride, I got bills,
I can't pay my student life trying to pay their
So talk to talk to us a little bit about
that and how proud of you were you as.

Speaker 10 (26:39):
A father, Extremely proud it's been a lot of work.
You know, it's been a lot of work that he's
put in that we've put in a lot of attention,
you know to the sport. So uh, it's it's it's
really been easier than a lot of people think because
he's such a great young man. He does things right.
He takes care of the classroom side of it, he's
very respectful, you know, kind of the things I've kind
of mentored about since you know, he really wanted to

(27:02):
take this thing serious. So it's kind of been easy.
We're very fortunate, you know, to get the opportunity to
go play Division win baseball and someone you know, the
program taking interest in him, and I think he's I
think he's gonna flourish it. I think it's a great, great,
great fit for him. And we're really excited, you know,
to finish up the season and go see him play
college baseball.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Fantastic things. He's right up the streets. Yeah, family there
and drive there and go that's great. That's good stuff.

Speaker 8 (27:25):
We congratulations to use about congratulations called congratulations to your
team again.

Speaker 7 (27:29):
We were really hoping you guys were going to get
that eighteen. Were like, we hope you don't miss around
getting the baseball curse but.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
A little bit tough. But again, congratulations on that.

Speaker 8 (27:38):
You guys are doing a phenomenal job, and keep up
to good work and we'll be keep an eye on you.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (27:42):

very special guest right here in studio today. Coach, please do,
with the courtesy of pulling up that microphone, introduce you
yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 21 (30:48):
Hello, how you guys doing. My name is Coach Brooks.

Speaker 22 (30:50):
I'm the head coach for girls varsity basketball at Diamond
Ranch High School.

Speaker 7 (30:54):
I like that, man, and it came in with the
Clippers on. Man, that's what I.

Speaker 13 (31:00):
Like.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
You know what you were the Clippers, correct, So.

Speaker 22 (31:04):
The the au club that we used to coach for
they were helping them out. So the Clippers used to
practice in their facility prep.

Speaker 7 (31:15):
Yeah, yeah, you know, Okay, yeah, you're familiar because I
used to be the voice.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Yes, when they moved to San die guys like to
too much.

Speaker 8 (31:23):
Yeah, so we started off over there early when they
first came in. First stuff that first year man. So
that's good. And I'm pulling for my Clippers. I want
to say, I'm pulling my clippers. Go ahead, Clippers tonight.
I know you are. My contract wasn't renewed.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
I know you are.

Speaker 7 (31:36):
I'm gonna give you a year. I'm gonna give you
a year that give you emotional. It's emotional right now.
It's touching, touch and go. But coach again, thank you
so much for being in the studio again. Talk talk
to us about this again. Diamond Red is always we
love having Dimer. We've we've done a lot of stuff
with them with our Inland Valley game. Uh. But again,
you guys are like right there in the middle in
that that's that's Pomona Promona. So you guys like you

(31:59):
guys are you guys like on that elbow of the
Land Empire and right on the elbow of LA.

Speaker 8 (32:04):
But talk about the program and how you're feeling about
it and what's going on right now.

Speaker 22 (32:07):
So I'm extremely excited. Last year I became the head coach.
Before I've been coaching there for about six years. Talk
about that, No, no worries. I've been there about six years.
Started off with the boys in the lower levels, worked
my way up and we started. My daughter came to
Diamond Ranch, so I was coaching the girls and it

(32:28):
just kind of evolved. You know, we worked hard, we
got together, we worked with the girls, and at the beginning,
you know, it was tough. You know, we didn't make
the playoffs three years ago. Each year we got better
and better. At the end. This year we ended up
going nineteen and eight. Oh wow, a huge improvement of
one of our players. My daughter, Jordan Brooks, just got

(32:48):
an offer to Life Pacific University. Congratulation great, appreciate that.
And so my main thing is is I just want
the program to grow. My main thing is I want
the kids to be able to go to college from
Diamond Ranch. And I know that that's not a normal thing,
but we want to make it a normal thing. I
like that just seeing how if we progressed and how
our team is getting better and better every year.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
I'm just excited.

Speaker 7 (33:09):
No, coach, I can let you know, I see you
slumping down. You can adjust that microphone up. I mean,
I want to make sure young.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
I want to get you right over there. Now.

Speaker 8 (33:18):
Now that's again, that's I like how you said that,
because again, that is a situation where you don't see
a lot of folks come out of diying the ranch
and especially the thing nowadays, kids love to just go
so you know that, coach.

Speaker 7 (33:28):
Coach Benchby, I want to go to the next day.
I want to go to another program.

Speaker 8 (33:31):
But one thing I want to ask you is talk
about the evolution what you've seen with this women's basketball
and how it's kind of trunkled down. Would you see that.
I mean, we just had an All Star game. The
girl's game was hands down the best game. It was competitive.
They're working the ball around.

Speaker 7 (33:45):
The girls are competitive and now I mean these girls
are competitive. It's physical, but they don't fight or anything
like that, but it's really really physical.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Talk about that. As a coach, you see it all
the time.

Speaker 22 (33:54):
Absolutely, it's a pleasure to sit down and watch the
girls evolve. My daughter started playing when she was seven.
So I've been in the game for about ten years now,
watching AAU and different levels of basketball. And the one
thing I can tell you is is the girls are fundamentally.

Speaker 21 (34:07):
Sound and they are tough. Yes, the one thing that
I love. I coach both I coach boys and I
coach girls.

Speaker 22 (34:13):
The main thing that I see the difference between the
boys and the girls is the girls listen, Like when
you tell them to do something, they will run through
a wall for you, especially if they believe in you, right,
And I've seen that with the girls that we have
at Diamond Ranch. Just me coming in as a new
head coach. They knew me before, but like you know,
me coming in with.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
New, different ideas and you.

Speaker 22 (34:32):
Know, different things, and they just looked at me and said,
let's go coach. What's going on and we just ran
the tables. This year had a great year, Like we
went from Division four A to Division three Double A,
so we went up three divisions this year. So that's
a testament to the hard work of our girls. And
just watching it's like a microcosm of basketball as a whole,

(34:53):
because if you're.

Speaker 21 (34:53):
Looking at the jujus, the pages, all.

Speaker 22 (34:55):
That like it's just a renaissance for girls basketball and
I'm just appreciative and proud to be a part of it.

Speaker 7 (35:02):
And you know, one thing I was going to I
was going to talk about all those but you know,
fun fact when the wife and I we bought our
first condos in Phillis Ranch, so my kids would have
gone there, but we ended up moving further in because
I saw the price of house with my bank accounts
to be over there. But I like the way that
you did it, coach. Coach hit us up on the
gram and say, hey, we're trying to build a culture

(35:22):
that we want to come in.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
Can we get some shiney? And I like that.

Speaker 7 (35:26):
Assertive, aggressive because you're trying to build a program and
a culture. What are you trying to accomplish there, Diamond
Ranch coach?

Speaker 22 (35:32):
So just to be honest, like I've loved basketball since
I was a little kid. I've played since I was
nine years old in the parks and the streets. My
main thing is to bring that culture that I had
growing up to the gym. So like with our kids,
we practice all the time, we work together all the time.
It's all about hard work and dedication, right, And I
believe that if we can get that going and all

(35:52):
of our girls are bought into that we can bring
a new usher in a new era for a Diamond Ranch.

Speaker 21 (35:57):
We've had success in the past.

Speaker 22 (35:58):
I believe our two thousand and nine team one c
IF Southern Section shout out to our twenty nineteen back
in the day. But they they set the table and
I've gotten those girls in from uh the old alumnis.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
That's not that's that's how you connect, that's how you're doing.

Speaker 22 (36:13):
So I'm just trying to bring the whole culture so
that way we can get something different going in that
Diamond Ranch because we're like on the teetering, like we
get better. We have good seasons here and there, but
we just haven't been able to connect it consistently.

Speaker 21 (36:25):
And that's what I want for our program.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
On top of a heel Yeah school, great school on campus.
Great school.

Speaker 9 (36:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (36:32):
And again I'm kudos to you though, like Coach be said,
because a lot of people they're not as aggressive like that,
and because again it's one thing to want to see here.

Speaker 7 (36:39):
But like I said, we ain't hard to find. It's
hard to find, but they got to do right by
you know, man, Man don't get me don't get me started.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Man, I don't know. I don't want to get.

Speaker 7 (36:52):
Fired to that right right exactly, Well, I tell you
what I say.

Speaker 8 (36:59):
Again, we're really gonna keep eye on you. That's just
you know, Coach b told me that, you know, you're
you're you're saying, hey, like I want to get my
girls on.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
I want to come out and talk about the program.

Speaker 8 (37:07):
So again, you always have a home here, keep us
posted on the progress. But get you brought some players.
So let's go ahead and get your players on and
again because we want to make sure we just tip
the cap to you and keep up the good work.

Speaker 21 (37:15):
Okay, thank you, brothers, appreciate the opportunity.

Speaker 8 (37:17):
There is right there five Sports Radio again reaching Diamond
Ranch right here. We're gonna go ahead bring in some
of their players. You always love to see like the
young coaches doing their thing, is you know, because a
lot of time we see the you know, these different
coaches coming in. We love to see these young coaches.
They're aggressive, coming with a whole different mindset. Young lady,
put that microphone up, introduce yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
Please.

Speaker 16 (37:37):
Hello, my name is Jordan Brooks. I'm from Diamondich High School.
Uh as you heard before, my dad that head coach
for us, and I'm shipping off now to go play
basketball in college.

Speaker 7 (37:49):
Fantastic And we got her dad like Jordan, not magic
because she could have been magic broke, but we digress.
So where you're gonna be going play college next year?

Speaker 16 (38:02):
So I'm going to like specific university.

Speaker 8 (38:05):
Fantastic, so you be able to stay local right there?
Talk about I mean, you know, it's funny because coach
b he coached his son. My dad was my coach.
He used to make me walk home while he's like, boy,
take that ball and go walk off.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
My son still got so talk with about I.

Speaker 8 (38:19):
Mean, because it's always interesting, but talk with it about
again playing for your father and obviously you know he's
right there and that's the port system that comes along
with that.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (38:26):
So I think it was something that was kind of
new for me because, uh, my dad didn't coach me
all four years, and he really didn't coach me in
middle school because he kind of wanted me to have
freedom so that I wouldn't feel like overbeared bye by,
like oh my dad's watching dad.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
Should We're all going right, there.

Speaker 16 (38:50):
So so kind of what we did was over last
summer he coached my AAU team, you know for l Yes,
when he coached just I was kind of getting more comfortable,
but he was our assistant coach, so it's kind of
getting used to, you know, the criticism because I'm used
to hearing it, but now I get to hear it
more on the court. Yeah, so you know, it was

(39:12):
just it wasn't really that big of an adjustment, but
it was a little easier because he knows how I
act on the court, so like I'll be frustrated and
he'll be like down, like okay, sit down, and like okay,
I don't even have to go through it with any
other coach and be like because me, I'm very I

(39:33):
don't speak like about like my emotions on the court.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
You'll just see it.

Speaker 16 (39:38):
So like it's better for me to kind of like
have him there and not have to be like like
I'm frustrated.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
That go sit down. That's good stuff right there. Unfortunately,
when you are the coaches kid, you get it. You
have you get a double dose, you get a double
do oh yeah.

Speaker 7 (39:59):
But your college choice, what was your decision to go
to Life Pacific what made you want to go at
a great academic school.

Speaker 16 (40:06):
So basically I had talked to a couple of Jucos
because you know, I am sure. I'm like five to one,
so you.

Speaker 7 (40:12):
Know, Don Staley was too, Yes, but I had I
had a pretty wide range of options with Jucos, but
they were they were the.

Speaker 16 (40:27):
Nai A school and they're more like a weight school.
So I had talked to them about like a year before,
and you know, I just kind of got to know that,
you got to know them and everything. But it was
really between them and going JUCO because I wanted to
stay local just so I could kind of get used
to the life and you know, I'll live.

Speaker 19 (40:45):
On campus and everything.

Speaker 16 (40:46):
Yes, but it was kind of between them and Chafey
had a really good program, so it was kind of
between them, and you know, they came to a lot
of games and everything nice. But I am Christian, so
I was like, you know, I feel like it'll be
better for me to go, you know, to a Christian school.
They're oriented and everything, and it felt like family congratulating.

Speaker 8 (41:07):
Congratulations on that again. Congratulations, we'll be coach. I'm sure
coach is gonna make sure he send us in your stuff,
so I wouldn keep an eye on you, but best
of luck on at the next level.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
And thank you so much for coming in today.

Speaker 12 (41:17):
Okay, thank you so much.

Speaker 8 (41:18):
There it is Fox Sports Radio. We have Diamond Ranch
here in studio.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Again.

Speaker 8 (41:21):
They're coming off a really a turnaround season, so we
got captains in it. Okay, there it goes right that
young lady, put out microphone up, introduce your stuff to
our live radio audience.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Please. Hi, my name is Amanda Uaita.

Speaker 18 (41:32):
I'm from Diamond Ranch High School.

Speaker 8 (41:34):
Okay, fantastic. Now talk about this season again. I mean
obviously now have you been there all four years?

Speaker 4 (41:39):
No, I'm a sophomore, so I was here for Christians Okay,
so so okay, so so again you've been there, So
talk about this year.

Speaker 8 (41:45):
We'll kind of turn around his band and the excitement
going forward to next year.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
This year has been really great.

Speaker 16 (41:51):
I feel like our family of well, our team family
really got together and we were able to play together
like we just.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
We just knew.

Speaker 12 (41:58):
We just knew.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
Yeah, where to go, how to shoot, how to pass,
where to go everywhere. That's good stuff.

Speaker 7 (42:04):
And think about your sophomore you're already a captain. And
you're here on radio. Coach is selected you?

Speaker 1 (42:10):
What? What what do you think is?

Speaker 7 (42:12):
Are you leading the charge when you're out there with
the new culture and everything's going on at your school.

Speaker 10 (42:17):
I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
I like that after. I love humble right there.

Speaker 7 (42:21):
I love to see you have right like of course
you see my huddle.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
I want to me.

Speaker 7 (42:29):
So what was it about this season that that got
you excited in the turnaround?

Speaker 16 (42:33):
We just started winning, just started.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
We hit it right from the very start. We just win. Wow,
my goodness, right right? Winning? Does that? I love it?

Speaker 8 (42:45):
I love that's good stuff. Congratulations now again now real quick.
Now you guys have a couple of different sets of uniforms.

Speaker 1 (42:51):
We've seen it.

Speaker 8 (42:51):
Now what what what color? What color combination is the
one for you?

Speaker 1 (42:55):
Well? I like our brand new home jerseys on coach,
look with the name I can see before I used
to say Y M c A on the Well you
got to keep that job. Well again, young lady, keep
up the good work.

Speaker 8 (43:11):
We're really happy to have you in a studio today. Okay, coach,
we're gonna bring you back in real quick again again.
We have Diamond Ranch Young Ladies basketball team right here
live in studio, got a brand new coach here now, coach,
real quick, tell us that what the expectations going forward?
I mean, you guys got to see it coming up.
Are you guys practicing the summer? What's going on and
where can we see you guys?

Speaker 22 (43:31):
Yes, we're always working. We're always in the gym.

Speaker 21 (43:34):
Right now.

Speaker 22 (43:34):
We're doing a springing summer program right now, so we're
going to be taking our team and we're gonna be
going against AU teams all.

Speaker 21 (43:40):
Over all over the area.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
Nice.

Speaker 22 (43:43):
I love doing that with my teams, just simply because
you know, all of our kids are going to play
out of our school as some capacity, but I would
love for our kids to play for me so that
way they know what we're doing, they know what system
we run, I know what their role is on our team,
and then when it comes to the season, it's just
like clockwork. Yeah, exactly, man, this is exactly that's how

(44:03):
I like my teams to run.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
Fantastic.

Speaker 8 (44:05):
Well, congratulations coach again, man, kudos to you man. You
got a bright future ahead. I just love the mentality
how you're approaching it. Good stuff right there. Best luck
to your daughter. Fantastic and again your your your team
Captain here got it, got a great at least I
got some building blocks to go forward. So we'll be
seeing a lot of diamond rants in the future. So again, coach,

Speaker 8 (46:15):
I am your host, Coach B and I am yours
eternal right here live in the great city of Riverside,
recorded at the iHeart Radio Studios.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
We have a very very special guest. Again.

Speaker 8 (46:24):
Thank you so much to all our guests so far,
and we appreciate this gentleman being patient with us. Again, sir,
please be kind enough to introduce yourself to our live
radio audience.

Speaker 23 (46:32):
Please, Hey, I appreciate you guys for having me on here.
My name is Coach Sean Fleming from Orange Vista High School.

Speaker 8 (46:37):
There it is right there, Coach again, man, thank you
so much for being here. Man got the we got
the we saw the tweet the other day the announcement
was made again. Obviously your predecessor was a great friend
of ours. Again, you know we love with the's almost
what they mean to the community. Again, but talk about
this the excitement of you again. You got the clipboard now,

(47:00):
ain't you got the good whistle?

Speaker 17 (47:01):
Man?

Speaker 23 (47:01):
Talk about Dick Scybitt. You know what, it's been a
blessing me to be in this position. Coach is o
Ma Man. He's been a big mentor to me, almost
like a big brother. He brought me on from day
one when he got into the school, and you know,
we've just been working and grinding since day one, and
man got a championship out of it. He felt like,

(47:22):
you know this, his time was done. And I appreciate
the school for just giving me this opportunity, you know,
take on and go forward from here and forward.

Speaker 8 (47:28):
That's good stuff because a lot of times what happens
when did a coaching change, they just go boom. It's
kind of like pivot away from the whole thing. But
they stayed with the building blocks. Obviously you've been there,
so talk but talk about your time. Your time at
the school. How long you been there and kind of like,
you know what you've seen that program become.

Speaker 23 (47:46):
Man, I've been there since twenty sixteen, day one when
we didn't even have a field at the Yes, you know,
we were going to a middle school to practice, right,
and we've just been grinding since then. You know, every
day we try to improve as coaches. We try to
mentor these is every single year and uh we just
every year we got better, we moved up in division,
just got better and better every single year. We always
try to make sure we put something into these kids

(48:09):
just that they can go forward when they leave here.
You know, they upstanding people in our community. So the
big thing is just, man, we just try to build
a great culture in our schools so they can take
that going forward.

Speaker 7 (48:21):
Fantastic insied games with the Orange Vista. Yes, yeah, I
just saw him the other day when he was talking
to Genty.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
They showed them on.

Speaker 7 (48:28):
So you guys have kids that you guys to put
out and you can say, hey, here's here's the standard bear.
Yeah yeah, yes, and I like that because Gentry said, hey,
you guys will be here.

Speaker 8 (48:37):
I mean that's last year he and we were. We
were here and I we were talking on talent. Yeah,
when we were talking about fair I think that was
last not last year, but year before last, when they
were in the championship game and I was talking about
telling them I watched it on television, you know, and
it was just amazing to see.

Speaker 7 (48:53):
But again, you guys have to hit. They have a
dynamic quarterback that's coming back.

Speaker 8 (48:57):
Talk about that the young man who's playing quarter back
for you guys, I mean just I mean we saw
him as a sophomore and the star was bright, but
now he's coming as an upperclassman leadership. Talk about that
young man man Khalil Abdul Aziz.

Speaker 9 (49:09):
Man.

Speaker 23 (49:09):
You guys gonna hear this name for a long Yes,
Ti man, this kid is a talent, four year starter.
He came in as a freshman. Nice man, took the
reins and he's been rolling ever since. You know, he
win a championship as a sophomore as great nice.

Speaker 7 (49:21):
Yeah, there was a there was a kid we watched.
It was a freshman. I think he went to I
don't know what ever happened to him, But what is
that like, coach when you have a kid. And we
talked about this in the last interviews, because every it's
a transfer culture, you know. And now to have a
kid there four years and you can mold him and
craft him. What is that like to have that kid
stay with you guys and trust you.

Speaker 12 (49:40):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Man, it's special.

Speaker 23 (49:41):
It's special, and it means a lot that he's staying
with us and that he does trust us going forward.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
This kid, he's he's locked in.

Speaker 23 (49:48):
He's a leader, captain of our team, you know, keeps
everybody in line. And he's just I see you so
much more coming from him this season and going forward. Man,
he's a he's a true leader of our team.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
Let's not say too much. Modern day might be listening.

Speaker 7 (50:04):
What are your expectations for next I'm sorry it was
that shots fire.

Speaker 1 (50:10):
What are your expectations for next year? Coach? Man? Expectation
every year.

Speaker 23 (50:13):
You know, you want to we do play to win,
but our expectation, Man, it's a blessing for me to
be in this situation, have Khalil as a senior, and man,
we're trying to run the table.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
Yeah, that's our goal every game we particular.

Speaker 23 (50:31):
Yes, yes, no, we've been grinding off spring man, been
out there putting in work. We got a new offensive
coordinator this year and done lap Man. He's been working
with them, getting them going, and we got big things
coming for this year.

Speaker 17 (50:41):
Man.

Speaker 8 (50:42):
And you guys always have one of the things that
I always admire about you guy, especially for like the
last three years that I've seen personally, you got to
keep some big boys dogs in the trenches.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
Talk about that. What the mentality is with that.

Speaker 8 (50:54):
And you guys really do a great job of again,
offensive line, defensive line, both of them on both lives,
is really dogs in there.

Speaker 12 (51:01):
Man.

Speaker 23 (51:01):
Coach Morrison, Coach Beeston. Man, these guys they did. Guys
that work with our line, you know, D line and
old line. They put work with me and with these
kids before practice, after practice, they talked to them, they communicate,
their giving rides, they do all these things to just
instilling these kids. And these kids trust them, you know,
so they just they listen to them. They believe in
our coaches and man going forward, they just it's beautiful

(51:23):
what they do with these kids. So those guys are
instrumental because it starts up front.

Speaker 1 (51:28):
Yes, it does the ball.

Speaker 23 (51:30):
So those guys man get our team ready. And every
year we always got those guys, man, and we were
looking good right now, So.

Speaker 1 (51:37):
You know, kids to stay when there's a change as well.
That says a lot because a.

Speaker 7 (51:40):
Lot of times kids, that's what I said, man, I
was scared to ask. I said, is everybody there? You
never never know? And that's the great And again Orange
Vista just being there is because you're there. It's not
like you said, like you said, didn't pivot. No, he's
been there, and that's I've been here.

Speaker 8 (51:55):
See that's the thing with I think that was a
really great higher and obviously it showed a lot, you know,
it showed a lot about who you are and your
character and your skill set.

Speaker 17 (52:02):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (52:02):
But again talk about it.

Speaker 8 (52:03):
I mean, you guys have just you know, for the
while you had you had Rancho Verdict with the Shadow,
you know, and they were you know, because they obviously
they've been established, they've been there, so they've earned.

Speaker 1 (52:12):
That they have the same last names.

Speaker 8 (52:16):
But now where you guys are, Now, you guys are
right there, and.

Speaker 7 (52:20):
That that it started. It started to look a lot
more even you know what I mean. And there times
where it's like wait a minute, Orange vests over there
and now you guys are really especially that Marina Valley
Paris era you guys are right there, talk about just
really kind of you know, and again it says a
lot to make sure that that talent doesn't get out
of there and they stay with you guys.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
Talk about that dynamic.

Speaker 23 (52:39):
Man, it's it's it's especially to have a rival two
miles away from you, right you know, Eric over there. Yep,
and you say we even no were on top.

Speaker 1 (52:48):
Now I like that.

Speaker 23 (52:52):
This is who we are, Yeah, this is how I
like that. Being we are young school man. We fired up. Yeah,
every day we come in and work, we look at us.
It's us versus everybody. We don't care who it is.
We go to battle with anybody and man, we don't
We're not looking back.

Speaker 1 (53:06):
I love it.

Speaker 7 (53:09):
Fire up, but you gotta be ready to put my
put my socks on, the go out there.

Speaker 1 (53:12):
And water boy.

Speaker 8 (53:14):
Again, I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure my jersey don't
get dirty. But again, real quickly, we talked a lot
about your quarterback. Talk about some other players that you know,
we may have messed that. Really, you know, some standout
fulks we should be keeping our eye on going forward
this year.

Speaker 23 (53:28):
Man, we got some great guys. We got some young guys.
We're a really young team, so you guys canna be
watching this for a while. Man, we got uh Devin
Sambit Sandville. Uh he's he started as a freshman as well.
We have a noble will mind he started as a freshman.
He's a guys. You guys they're sophomores. Bea'll be watching
for a while.

Speaker 1 (53:47):
Wow.

Speaker 23 (53:48):
Man, it's it's so many guys that we have on
our team that that it makes it the team. You know,
these guys are hard workers. They they uh brailing h
Braylan Turner. This guy as the track guy, he's been
in the track all year, just getting faster and faster.

Speaker 1 (54:03):
Yeah, too many.

Speaker 8 (54:11):
I can't like this, But again, coach, we're fired up
for you again. Love the enthusiasm. I mean that that
really that I'm sure that translates to the team. I'm
sure that translated to the team, to the faculty, which
is why probably a big part of you coming into
the team. So best of luck out there. I mean,
I'm just fired up about the ie period. But again,
what you guys have been able to do over there,

(54:31):
especially again, I'm really excited to see that quarterback come
back because he's just been special again that you know
to develop as a senior.

Speaker 1 (54:37):
So I'm excited about that, coach.

Speaker 7 (54:39):
Yeah, absolutely, we look forward to watching your journey and
seeing looks like coach is ready to play, like we
play right now. I know they got springball going, so
he knows, he knows what he got coming.

Speaker 23 (54:48):
And do you guys, is your schedule out? Our schedule
is out. It's on Max Preps right now.

Speaker 7 (54:53):
Right, I mean you can't talk to any give us,
give us a little line of sight about what's going
on in and that that that early season part before
you get before you actually get into season.

Speaker 23 (55:01):
Yeah, yeah, no problem, man. We gotta start off with
Apple Valley. We go to Apple Value. Yeah you know
they always loaded over there. Yeah, we got down he
coming to us, I might I got you, Okay, we
got on coming home, come to the house, were playing,

(55:26):
go out to Warrens them up.

Speaker 7 (55:31):
Take it easy on down, but put it on. I
might have to come out to the downy I have
on downy year. Just look the other way. Coach side,
You're all good. But that's good stuff right there.

Speaker 1 (55:42):
I love that.

Speaker 7 (55:43):
Love the fact again you guys are playing down playing
those tough teams again.

Speaker 1 (55:47):
Have an oracle come in there.

Speaker 8 (55:48):
I mean that again, that's that's showing you guys are
really looking to take it to the next level. So
that's good stuff right there. Well, I'll tell you what, coach,
We're happy to have you here. Excited. I can see
why they hired you now, I mean yeah, the enthusiasm
he is there. And again, keep us posted, please keep
it posting. What's going on. You know, we're hoping to
do some stuff. We're helping the visits FRO school this summer,

brand new coach over at the Orange Vista.

Speaker 7 (58:12):
Absolutely, and then you know one thing I have to do.
I have to let it be known, you know, because

Super proud of her. She's doing her thing. Brianna Skyler,

that she's one of the pleasant faces that you see
when you come to our All Star games.

And the funny thing is, you know, she was trying
to show me Canva and she just looked at me
like it reminded me when I was in Compton unifyd
as a kid. The way she just shook her head
and just said, what is wrong with you? You know,
it's like that's the way they used to look at
in the eighties. They said two plus two is four,
and I say it's not three.

Speaker 8 (59:16):
But you know no, trust me, and I've been learning
some stuff too. I'm like, man, like you know, like, hey, no,
you're going way around. You need to go like straight through.
So so yeah, no, that's just this new technology is
