Speaker 1 (00:01):
Coming to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studio
in Southern California. It's time for the only national prep
sports show on radio, the Coach be An Eternal Show.
And here are your hosts, the Pride of Riverside, Eternal
and straight out of Downy Coach B.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Gentlemen, it's all yours.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
This is Coach Being Eternal on Fox Sports Radio Herd
in Southern California on Fox Sports in thirteen fifty I
am your host, Coach Being.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
And I am your Host Eternal, right here live in
a great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios on
a very very nice getting into the summertime, breaking out
of spring Saturday morning.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
Coach B.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Always good, always good, have a great show lined up,
Coach B. You know, one of the things that you
and I have been talking about, we were really fortunate
to have this fantastic Mother's Day campaign, Coach B that
was well well received, work with folks like Marietta Hot Springs,
the the really really nice leisure spot out here in

(01:04):
southern California, located obviously in the great city of Marietta,
and then we had uh that was part of it.
And then we had like the makeover experience where the
mom selected got all dalled up, got you know, got
the makeup, Coach B got the nails and everything, and
we said we have to do something big time for
the dads. I mean because the bar was high, but

(01:26):
we said, you know what, Coach B, We're gonna do it,
and Dad Burnett, we are right here, Coach B. And
I am proud to say the good folks from Graham's
Barbecue said, let's partner Rupp and let's make that happen.
So really really happy to have the owner of Graham's
Barbecue located right here in downtown Riverside, Miss Benita, happy
to have her on air, Coach B.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
And then you know, we we we had to.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
We had to bring our guy in because the last
time we had this team and the coach wasn't able
to make the interview. And we're talking about none other
than the Corona Panthers baseball team, Coach B. One of
the top teams. Excuse me, I said that in the
break room, the top team in the nation. Yes, really
just I mean, this team is just really really special.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Coach B.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
We were in the green room talking to him and
we were just talking about how you know, they were
treated like rock stars all over the place. I mean,
you know, North Carolina, they went to awesome, I mean
some huge different places they went to. So really really
happy to have them come in. And one of the
special things is about them, Coach B, is even though
they just took a loss, you know, and had they
won this game, big time game against a really really

(02:35):
talented Saint John Bosco team, they would have been crowned
the national champions Coach B. So, you know, normally when
people come off a loss like that, they don't want
to talk to anybody, but coach Wise is not like that.
He comes in, his team's excited, he's excited, So we're
really happy to have him in there. The great thing
about this team, Coach B, we'll be seeing him again
next year because a lot of these young kids are

(02:57):
junior so we'll be seeing a lot of them going forward.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yes, And you know, it's it's one of those things.
I know that those were the.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Playoffs are still going on, so we have to figure
out how that works because I know that.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Uh well, Notre Dame's planned today, Notre Dame of Riverside.
I mean, there's a couple of teams playing today. I
saw a post that said Notre Dame was playing today,
So I'm not I think, and I think there's a
couple of softball games happening. I think, if I'm not mistaken, Norco,
because Norco is really really wanted again another top team
here in the nation, I believe they're playing today as well.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
I'll check that out on my schedule right now.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, I'm on the CIF site because on Max Preps
it doesn't show the schedules. But CIF says Round one
is Thursday, June third, and then there are Tuesday, excuse me,
Tuesday June third, and then they have so that's round one,
and then you have the regional semi finals.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yes, this is going to be Thursday, June fifth.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
So coach, it's funny you said that right there, So coach,
why so that's actually because so those are the regionals.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
That's kind of like state right right for basetball.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Coach why just informing and when he comes on there,
he'll kind of he'll brief us a little bit more
detail about that. But he said that how that worked
because they're not participating in that regional game. But he
said how it worked was they had to they would
have had to, uh put that out there. They were
like like the day they had I think they played
on Tuesday, if I'm not mistaken. They being Corona, they

(04:16):
had to make they had to notify them they're going
to play that game playing that that that whole series
on Tuesday, and coach Wise was let me know that
they had their aspirations were to win the national championship.
So uh, they were they you know, they kind of
had to you know, pick and choose right there before
the game, which to me is a little bit difficult
for a team like that. But nonetheless, they decided not
to do it. So and I'm sure they're pretty comfortable

(04:38):
with their decision.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, it's tough with baseball because a lot of the
kids are graduating.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Exactly, you know, graduation Like literally kids have already walked already, coach.
But I mean so, I mean, I don't know about you,
but if I already walked already, that's it for high school.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Yeah, I don't know, I mean that's just me.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
That's something you know, if you're on a team and
you play with your boys two or three years after,
I can see doing that and then trying to trying
to finish.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
It win a championship too. I can see that.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yeah, that's that's that's tough.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
It's and some of the kids are you know, games
and graduations on the same day, So I don't know
what you do.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
You go out there with your your your cap and
gown on and.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
That would that be funny you show up to the
park with the cap and gown on and have the
baseball uniform under that.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
I mean, that would be a great walk in.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
That's that's interesting how that works. I know, see how
you have tried to move it up. But it's tough, man, baseball.
It's in a really really tough position.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
But you know, for the most part, coach, but you
really you rarely here excuse me that a player is
not participating, you know, like a case. You know, in football,
we've seen these kids graduate early and you know they'll
be gone in January, you know, and literally you know,
in a different state. Whereas baseball generally speaking, these kids
they stay, they stay with it all the way until
until the season concludes for him.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
So which is uh, you know, a getting kudos to
those kids.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, baseball is a little bit different.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
So and you gotta love that you gotta love it's
it's it's a reason they call it America's pastime.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Again, Coach being Eturner right here live at the iHeart
Ready Studios again, so we will have Corona Baseball in here.
Got you know, really some special players again. One of
the uh these young men his his father has a
unique uh nine to five. We'll kind of talk to
him about that. But also, Coach B, like we were
saying some some great stuff happened. We really this was

(06:17):
a really great year for us in terms of our
All Star games.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
We were having some conversations in the background right now,
Coach be about potentially kicking off this baseball game. We've
been you know, we've been trying to work this baseball
thing for at least another good three years, and I
think we now have the pieces in place where we
can make this happen. If we were able to do that, man,
this would be really exciting stuff. So folks be you know,
stay with us, because we may be dropping some some

(06:44):
big time information real soon.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Absolutely, so yeah, we'll see how that works itself out.
So that'll be good stuff, man. So I'm excited to see.
It's good to see all the sports that are going.
And I love the fact that Corona came back and
we had some technical issues and you know, we reached
out and they said, hey, we will come back.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
You talk.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
You think about that. That one of the best teams, if
not come on now, best team.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
In the nation.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
I saw a thing.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
I think they said they have two kids that are
like first round prospects, like so.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
One of them, one of I think one of the
one of which is in studio right now, so you know,
but I mean they have a they just have an
assortment of talented kids.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Excuse me, you were a Sam apartment.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
I I would say, you know, if that were me,
I'd be like, coach, this is the local bo. I
think I only talk to the Gottlieb Coward or Dan Patrick.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
Or or our guys Petrols the money, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
So uh but no, it's it's great that they consider
this home and we love having them in there. The
great kids too, man. Really, I mean this really good
kid as you mentioned. I mean, if I had star
power like that, I mean, you know, you go to
these baseball games and I've seen it, Coach B. I mean,
these kids run up to these players. These are high
school players, and they're taking pictures with these players like

(07:54):
these guys are major leaguers right now, and then when
you see in here in studio, they're just humble young man.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
It's really great to see.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
So again, kudos to coach Wise the whole staff over
there at Corona Baseball.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
They do a wonderful job with those young men.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Absolutely, and this is a program and I know coach said,
he's been there a couple of years, and this is
a program we've seen flourish and develop right in front
of our eyes, not only become a dominant program in
the Inland empire in southern California, we're talking about nationally.
And that's one of the things you love to see
because we've seen a couple of programs do that in
football where we see them come out of nowhere. I
don't want to mention names, but we've seen them come

(08:27):
out of nowhere and they building. You can see it's possible.
You have the right coach with the passion, it can happen.
And we've seen it happen right in front of our eyes.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
And then Coach b just one more other thing, A
quick tidbit, we do have some tickets. I was able
to meet up with the good folks with Michelle, and
Michelle is coordinating the Charlie That's why the Charlie Samson Rodeo.
We're really happy about that. We're gonna be We've been

(08:56):
talking to them. We're gonna we just we have a
new promotion. We're gonna drop out there uh tomorrow again.
It's the first annual Charlie Sampson Rodeo is going to
take place at the Ingles Center. I might be saying
that incorrectly, but it's in the great city of Norco
and so we're really happy about that. The first of

(09:17):
his kind, the legendary bull rider Coach B. We talked
to him on the radio. He's from your area, Coach B.
So I know that was that was that was inspirational
hearing them talk about the cowboys, that this happened right there,
because I think he said he was from Watch, California saying.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
That when I mentioned the Compton Cowboys, he was like no,
he said, we bull right, Yeah, yeah we do bulls.
We don't we didn't weren't riding horses. So yeah, the
Compton Cowboys, they weren't around when I was a kid. Okay,
that's that's a new phenomenon. Well, I think I think
the actual cop the Cowboys were there.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
It just they weren't. Maybe they weren't named.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
The Compton Cowboys at that time in terms of the
actual title.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yes, yes, absolutely so I'd have to go back and
look at him, because I saw they had something at
Coachella where they had their their signs up and not so. Yeah, no,
they said the group I'm looking on the internet. They
first got together in the late nineties. So yeah, by
then I was gone. I was out of there, said
I already did my time.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
I was free.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Let me go. Hey, which a sometimes they don't let
you go. So hey, hey, I'm telling you my brother's
still there. Yeah, bless there it is right there. And
then again it's Coach being Eturnal right here live in
the great City of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios. And
again we're talking about the Charlie Sampson Rodeo.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
Again.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
That event was going to take place on June twenty eighth,
and it's going to be kicks off at as a
Saturday kicks off at six pm gates open at four,
so again we will be giving away some tickets for
that and again some special stuff we're going to be
talking about here in just a second. Like we said,
one of the things that we've been talking about, you know,

(10:50):
we not enough gets not enough emphasis gets put on
the dad who are doing a phenomenal job specifically, you know,
we like to talk about in the sports round. You know,
you always hear about you know, we hear about the mothers.
And again we don't want to take anything away from
the moms. You know, they believe me, they get celebrated,
but not enough times. And Coach B knows this. We

(11:10):
don't celebrate the dad, so we're happy to be presenting
of it. If you have a dad, celebrate, yes, you do.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
You should. You should. Definitely, there's no doubt about it.
Because let me tell you something.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
They you know, you know, like you know, men go
through a lot as well, and we just don't you know,
you know, most men just don't talk about it and
maybe they go through pain silently.

Speaker 5 (11:28):
So always good.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
I know, I know for me personally, you know, it's
real personal for me because I you know, I had
a phenomenal file and I know he made a lot
of sacrifices for our family, so happy to be supporting
events like this. Celebrating Dad's event is going to be
taking place with Graham's Barbecue, Coach Being, we're gonna have
Miss Benita hearing studio to talk about this great event.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Again.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
It's a few from Graham's Barbecue. Just a really just
a fixture here in Riverside. Her father has done a
great job establishing the brand, and now Miss Bennina has
taken it over. And you know now actually she has
her son doing it. She's kind of like, you know,
she's doing new thing now. So we're gonna take a
quick break, Coach Being. When we come back, we will
have Miss Benita her self.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
You have to say her name three times.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I know, Beita, Anita, Vanita, Benita. Yes, yes, that's funny. No,
you'd have to must do and I have that. I
don't have Benita. I got checked around, Okay, I thought
I have Benita.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Now she's married. Just say that. Don't say the rest.
Get I don't want her husband come.

Speaker 7 (12:24):
Over here looking for us.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Just Beanita, Beanita.

Speaker 4 (12:27):

Are This is Coach Being Eternal on Fox Sports Radio
Herd in Southern California on Fox Sports A thirteen fifty.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
I am your host Coach.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Being and I am your host eternal right here live
in a great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios.

Speaker 5 (15:33):
We are recording live every Saturday morning. Coach B. We
do have we have Riverside Royalty.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
You know you know this, This young lady has been
Her and her family have been serving the good folks
of the Riverside County downtown area for many, many years.
Please do us the courtesy of introducing yourself to our
live radio audience.

Speaker 13 (15:57):
Hi, Hi, thank you so much for having me today.
My name is Benita Bradden. I am the owner of
Graham's barbequ We've been downtown Riverside for the last thirty
eight years, located at thirty five twenty seven Main Street.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Fantastic eight. That is a long time. What would you say?
What would you say is the reason for the longevity.
It's hard to stay in business for thirty eight months,
let alone thirty eight years.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
What would you say is the key to stand in
business that long? The key to staying in I want
to make sure everybody can he the KEI to staying.

Speaker 13 (16:36):
In business for us, I would say, is to really
do something that you really love. I love what I
do my dad has now founded this business in nineteen
eighty seven. He lived a very very fast life. He
changed his life totally around and decided to go in
the restaurant business. We love getting people together with food
and energy and things like that, and he loved to cook.

(16:59):
So that's something that really gave us the longevity and stuff.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
And then it's the community. The community supported us.

Speaker 13 (17:04):
The community has given us, you know what I mean,
the opportunity to serve this food and stuff and be
a part of them for all these years.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
That's good stuff right there. Now, you know, now you're,
as you said, your father started it off. You're you're
now in the driver's seat. And now you even have
your son working for you. He's doing excuse me, he's
doing some great things. Talk about how specially that it
is to have, you know, to kind of you know,
now you're transitioning in this thing that had to see
that full circle where your father blessed you with it,
and now you're able to bless that to your son.

Speaker 13 (17:32):
Now I know that it is wonderful, wonderful experience. I
really never thought that this would happen when initially when
I came in the business, it wasn't something I really
wanted to do, even though I loved to cook, But
it was something in the spirit that just kept telling
me that I needed to go down there and help
my dad and you know what I mean. And then
I surrendered to that and I helped my father, and
then I found that that was my calling because my

(17:52):
dad would be there and he would just always say, baby.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
You are natural, you are natural.

Speaker 13 (17:56):
You got this, you got this.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
So that's what I did.

Speaker 13 (18:00):
My son went into trucking business for a while and
stuff too, and now he has a family and he
came back and said, hey, Mom, I want to retire you.
You know what I mean, I want to you know
what I mean, You to go ahead and do what
you want to do. Mama, what do you want to do?
And when I thought it, I didn't think he was
really serious. But when I seen that he had studied
the business, he had youtubed everything, he had a restaurant coach,

(18:21):
do all the numbers, Mom, this that, Mom, we could
do this, we could do that and stuff, I knew
that he had it. I knew he had the desire
and he was going to be great. So I just
been kind of planning my little exit. I do caterings,
I do outreach programs, I do different community events, giving
back to the community. Because now I feel like it's

(18:41):
my time for a Graham's Barbecue to give back. And
how can we do that now? Since you know my
dad was you know what I mean, he founded the business,
my son's took taken over. Now it's time for me
to see how we're going to give back to the
community that supported us South East years.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Fantastic.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
How special is that?

Speaker 3 (18:58):
You said your dad migrated here at thirteen from South Carolina,
from the South, so I know you guys got some
good Southern food.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
But just think about that.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'm sure everybody in the family has a pigure and
unfortunate your dad passed away, so I would say, his
picture's got to be on the wall and everyone's got
to say because of him, we're here. How amazing is that?
And what made him want to get into the barbecue business.

Speaker 13 (19:20):
My dad really wanted to change his life around. He
had been you know what I mean, he'd done time
a couple times, you know, a couple of stints and stuff,
and he had said when he got out the last time,
he said, I will never go back to prison ever aget.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
In my life.

Speaker 13 (19:31):
So I mean, luckily he had property and that he's saved.
So when he got out, the family kept that so
he was able to get the restaurant at that time.
So he got the restaurant and said, hey, this is
something that I want to leave from my children. I
want to leave you know what I mean, the ones
that want to do something with it. And that's kind
of what we did. But it's very very special for
my dad to be able to leave something like this,

(19:51):
and today he would be so proud that we are
giving something back to the fathers and the community. But
this father's say car show, he would just I could
see him right now. He'd just be looking at me
and said, baby, you got this.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
It's always nice to have a dad. But talk to
Graham's Barbecue. So you guys are three five two seven
Main Street in Riverside.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
What are you were talking about?

Speaker 8 (20:17):
Now?

Speaker 3 (20:17):
I don't eat seafood, but I know my wife is listening.
And my wife, it's never been to the South, but
she eats like she still.

Speaker 11 (20:24):
Lives in the South.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
So tell us a little bit about your specialties and
what you guys are known for.

Speaker 13 (20:29):
Okay, Well, We specialized definitely in barbecue. It's called Graham's Barbecue.
It's named after my paternal grandmother, which is my dad's mom.
We used to call her Grandmama and then we just
showed me to Graham, so we named it after her.
So we specialized in barbecue. We have a big Southern
prize smoker in the back where we smoke every day.
Pork ribs, beef ris.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
I can smiled around the corner.

Speaker 13 (20:50):
Yeah, barbecue, chicken, pull pork. We do make our own
barbecue sauce there too. Watch one of my dad's recipes
and stuff too. We're really well for colored greens. We
have the best greens in in linen pie, sad sad turkey,
fresh candy as everything we make there is fresh.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
You make Kenyans all right now.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
From South Carolin Coach being about to start crying right there,
said not the candy as.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
And then we do.

Speaker 13 (21:18):
We do a really good catfish and seafood, and we
have specials on Fridays which we call our Fresh Fridays.
So those are very very popular. They're just as popular.
Seafood is just as popular as our barbecue.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
My big Mama passed away, but she would have loved it.
She absolutely loved it.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
Again Fox Sports Radio, we're right here live in the
great city of Riverside. We have Miss Benita from Grant's Barbecue.
Now we're talking about this because I saw the flyer.
I said, hey, wait a minute, you know we as
soon as I you know, it got presented to my attention,
I said, we got to do something about that. We
need to we need to hook up, we need to
figure out we can get something going. Coach b always says,

(21:51):
you know what, we we do a lot of things
for the women, and they just justifiably sold. You know,
the especially in the sports world, mothers are just you know,
running the kids back and forth and still have to
do you know what they do as a mom and
as a woman. So we we love that, but we
don't get it. We don't do enough to look out
for the dads that are doing a phenomenal job. And

(22:12):
so you are doing this celebrating Dad's car show, shutting
down the little our main street right there. Tell us
about the inspiration and about the event, please yes.

Speaker 13 (22:24):
So I was just thinking, you know what I could
do for the community, especially in honor of my dad also,
and I was like, I need to do something for
the fathers.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
Yes, you know what I mean.

Speaker 13 (22:33):
I look around and stepp in the fathers. And when
I talked to the dads, they're like, yeah, they you know,
give what they want us.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
You know.

Speaker 13 (22:38):
Father's say they want us to barbecue our.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Fathers right right. We get TV, moms get get.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
TV, and they still want us to cook.

Speaker 13 (22:47):
I just wanted to give something back to the fathers
and stuff. And I was like, well, what were fathers like?
We talked about a car show like that. I said, well, hey,
why don't we give a car show? Were downtown? They
said the day was open. I could go ahead and
shut down the whole street. So we're going to be
shut down from fifth Street to sixth Street.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Who do you know to be able to make that?

Speaker 5 (23:07):
I just called the mayor. I'm Benita.

Speaker 13 (23:12):
God used to do this every year. He would have
birthday parties every year and you would shut it down.
And he would go to the mayor and be like, Mayor, loverage,
I need.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
To have the faith.

Speaker 13 (23:23):
Yeah, so we would shut it down. So I was
able to do that and stuff. And I was just like, well,
let's go ahead and give a car show, you know,
Let's have some music, some great food, some barbecue. You know,
show the men and stuff how much they're you know,
they're loved and appreciated, and just give the men, the
fathers their props.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
When you talk about give them men the pro She's
talking all this good stuff I hear, but I don't
see any food out here, and I haven't had breakfast.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
I'm just saying, well, you know what she did. She
came with gifts. Yeah I let no, no, she she
came through because but I'm hungry. Look at always we
opened about us, like, come on, come on down.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
The barbecue sauce is probably bubbling.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
But again it's gonna be good. We're talking to miss
Benita again, owner of Graham's Barbecue. Really really happy to
have her in studio. But this event is gonna be
taking place on June fifteenth. This is the Graham's Barbecue
celebrating Dad's car showing block party again. Coach Bani Turuna,
We're gonna be out there. One of the things we
talked about how we can partner with this, not only
making sure that we get some credibility and make sure

(24:26):
that everybody goes out there and goes and sees it
and you know, go and taste this wonderful food the
Graham's been doing for thirty eight plus years. You are
gracious enough, he said, let's partner. Let's do something. So
we're gonna be We're gonna be doing the thing. We
did it for Mother's Day. It ended up being great.
You know, we got some great folks were nominating the
mother for a special Mother's Day prize. So we said
we gotta do something for the fither. So Miss Benita

(24:49):
said that we're gonna let let's do it. So here,
she said, I'm gonna give away a gift certificate for you.
Come into Grams, enjoy some food. We're gonna be doing.
We're gonna be giving away a room over at the
We got some stuff we're gonna be doing. We're gonna
be making a big time announcement. But just talk about
the excitement of getting a chance to partner with us
to what we can we can honor and celebrate one
special dad here in the Inland Empire.

Speaker 13 (25:10):
Yeah. I want to say thank you guys so much,
because it's so funny to where I had just put
the flyers out on Instagram and I think I heard
from you, not within twenty four hours, and I'm like,
how did you guys know? And then so that let
me know that this was the right thing to do. Yes,
So I was really really excited that you guys wanted
to partner with us. I'm excited excited about that. So

(25:32):
what we're doing is we definitely have the car show.
We'll have muscle cars, low riders, classic cars, all the
different cars and stuff. The great barbecue from Grounds Barbecue.
Definitely Fox Sports and stuff here with me helping us sponsor,
helping us get on the radio to reach you know,
all of our audience, the community and giving back to

(25:53):
the community also. Definitely, Grounds will be doing some giveaways
and stuff too. We have the Hyatt Hotels that's gonna
be given away. Yes, we have six Rings a legend,
which is you know, a sneaker shop that you know
that's going to be donating some things. And all the
downtown restaurants have decided to give out different raffles and
things like that to you know, Mario's prohibition all those

(26:14):
places also.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
To that is wonderful. That's just wonderful. You can make
people do, yeah, what they've been doing again. We had
a game.

Speaker 11 (26:22):
It is right there.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
Yes, so again, you're just doing a wonderful job. We're
so happy to be uh, to be partnering with you
on this. This is really special. Again, Graham has been
there for as long as I can remember, and you
guys again are just you know, I love what you
guys are doing now on social media. Love to see
the videos introducing some of the staff and so forth
over there. Just really really ingenuitive stuff that you guys

(26:43):
are doing over there while while maintaining that grand essence.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
So you guys are doing a wonderful job over there.
I want to make sure I commend you on that.

Speaker 13 (26:49):
Thank you so much. You know, it's a pleasure giving
back to the community because once you start giving back
to the community, that community helps you, Yes, more to
the community. Yeah, it's opens up the door for us
all to help each other. And that's what's really you
know what it's all about.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
And that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
You're honoring your father at the same time. How special
is that?

Speaker 14 (27:07):
Right?

Speaker 13 (27:07):
It's very very special. And my dad's name was Robert Bratton.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
Yes, yes, I mean he was a fiction.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
We just saw him everywhere and again that's just one
of the nicest men you and meet and like you said,
always willing to give people a second chance.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
You know, I know you get you know, I know
you were.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Talking about that in terms of how he's always giving
people a second chance that you know that may of
you know, sometimes they can't get jobs at different places.
I know your dad was always good about getting folks
jobs over there too.

Speaker 13 (27:32):
Yeah, he was always. My dad was always a thing
to where the restaurant, you know what I mean. He
would tell me the restaurant is about the community. It's
about giving back, yes, you know, and it's about giving
it's a stepping stone, it's a it's a stone to
help you know, we're giving jobs and stuff to get
people to another level. It might not be their career,
but it can't help them get to another no question.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
Right.

Speaker 13 (27:50):
And then he always said, and you know one thing
about us as black men and stuff, if we don't
get a second chance, sometimes we.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Don't get no chance.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Yes.

Speaker 13 (27:56):
So when my dad said that to me, that's always
like stuck in my head. I gotta help my people,
you know what I mean. Yes, if this is the
second chance, I gotta help them get more chances.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
So it's fantastic, fantastic, Well again, We're really happy to
be partnering with you on this again. All taking place.
I wanna make sure I gues it's on the fifteenth, fifteenth,
June fifteenth. All gonna be again the Grand's Barbecue, celebrating
dads again. We're gonna be talking about our campaign we're
gonna be doing to celebrate.

Speaker 5 (28:24):

Now, coach be you know, uh, the gentlemen we have here,
we were just we were just gloating over this this
man just a little earlier, because I think this is
the second time he said, Hey man, look we show up.
We show up. Things happen, but we're still gonna show up.
I just love the way he conducts himself, love the
way how he works as team coach. But please do
us a courtesy of introducing yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 16 (32:23):
Please, I appreciate you, guys. Coach Andy Wise, Corona High School.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
Put out microphone, that coach and now, now you guys,
what a ride.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
We were talking off air and you were just telling
me about this season, how special this season was. But
you know, we got to check. We had some of
your your your your boys in. But talk as a coach,
just talk about how this year was for you. I
mean just amazing, amazing performance. But as a coach, how
was it for you personally?

Speaker 6 (32:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (32:46):
No, it's always tough to not end how you want
it to end, but how often do you get it
to go your way?

Speaker 11 (32:51):
So that's that. And yeah, the things that we.

Speaker 16 (32:53):
Went through this year incredibly original and things went on
that I didn't even imagine could go on. And just
the way we retreated good, bad and different whatever it
might be, there was no one different.

Speaker 11 (33:04):
It's almost like you had a side on or out right.

Speaker 16 (33:08):
So yeah, I know a lot of a lot of
amazing stuff went down with this group, and I thought
we just handled it like champions all the way through.
So if anything, I'm most honored and proud to have
gone through it with these guys and the way they
we all conducted ourselves through at all top to bottom.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
It was amazing, fantastic, and I appreciate you coach.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
You have some kids there, they're national stars.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
We were joking off air if that were me in
high school, I say, I only talked to Dan Patrick
cow but but talk about that coach, there's still humble kids.

Speaker 11 (33:35):
Yeah, we'll come talk to you lower in.

Speaker 16 (33:42):
That's amazing, man. We we've been in here. I've been
in here a few times. Yeah, boys, great, and we
come in when we win. We come in when we lose,
like we said, and that's baseball. And to share this
with you're real quick. You know, I'm a teacher on
campus and we lost. And the next day I showed
up to work and right in the classroom next to
me first period as Anthony Murphy, and I popped my
head in there. I said, we show up, we're here, Yes,

(34:03):
And that's how it goes.

Speaker 11 (34:04):
We're doing it.

Speaker 16 (34:04):
We're trying to do it right and hold our head
up either way. We're not thumping our chests overly proud,
and we're not going to hang our head and hate on.

Speaker 11 (34:11):
Ourselves or anything of that nature. So we're just doing it.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
I love it because there's a quarterback from the commanders
that it didn't turn our calls anymore.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
I don't know what happened to that kid. Well, you know,
I mean, things happened. Things happened. But you know, again,
coach this again. You guys traveled all over the place.
I mean, you guys played some of the best of
the best. You guys were really on the cusp of
securing that national championship. But just talk about the season
where you guys were just traveling all over to the spot.
Do you have like a place where you travel where
you were like, man, this is this is it right here?

Speaker 5 (34:41):
We're doing some stuff.

Speaker 16 (34:42):
You know, if you're playing in that national high school
invitation in North Carolina and Kerry, you're you're on the
right path. Obviously, these you know, sixteen teams throughout the nation.

Speaker 11 (34:51):
They're invited every year. We got to go back to
back years seven.

Speaker 16 (34:54):
And one in eight games over there. We won it
last year. We had a hiccup this year on a one.
You know, it's it's traveling across the country. You know,
it's traveling across the country, you know, an opposite of
good sleep and when you got to wake up at
four forty five and it's cold and rainy and you gotta,
you know, go try to strap it on against the
East Coast team that wants to do nothing but kill you.

Speaker 11 (35:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
Right, Yeah.

Speaker 16 (35:17):
It doesn't make it easy. And I'll be real with
you guys, like h and I've been sharing it with
all these guys. You know, it seemed like last year
when we won it, a lot of people, you know,
we paid our dues and we did it right, and
we're very respectful throughout the years.

Speaker 11 (35:28):
And I think a lot of people wanted to see
us win.

Speaker 16 (35:30):
And even though we were the same classy, respectful group
last year, all the media and all the publicity we got,
I think a lot of people really wanted to see
us fail.

Speaker 11 (35:37):
And I do understand you.

Speaker 16 (35:38):
Yeah, I'm not a Patriots fan, you know, right, Ryan,
Like that, when we were out in North Carolina, you
could kind of get the field that, you know, we
were losing in our first game, we were losing during
the game, later in the game, and the field just
got incredibly crowded. All of a sudden, there's a thousand
people over there really looking at.

Speaker 11 (35:54):
Us like they're gonna lose.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
Wow.

Speaker 16 (35:56):
And we squeaked that one out and it looked like
we we kind of made everybody a little more or matter.

Speaker 11 (36:02):
You know, we're not.

Speaker 16 (36:03):
You know, I'm not used to that either, because like
I try to be, like I said, real classy, respectful,
and we got mad respectful all the groups that we
get to go up again.

Speaker 11 (36:10):
So it's hard to get it all hated on guard.

Speaker 16 (36:13):
But I guess when you're where we're at right now,
I kind of got to get used to it a
little bit.

Speaker 11 (36:17):
So I'm trying, Yes, I do.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
I'm getting right here a live Fox Sports Radio. We
are here with Corona Baseball head coach coach wives right
here live in studio.

Speaker 5 (36:24):
Coach, Yes, I.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Love it coaching. Tell me a little bit. What what baseball?
It's so special you guys playing these tournaments you're getting
invited for you? How is the passion for you to
see that your team has gone from a local program
to now a national program.

Speaker 11 (36:40):
You know, it is tough for me.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
I liked it.

Speaker 16 (36:43):
I'm kind of a low key guy like I don't
like not anymore. I have to say, you know, I
try to used to doing any of this type stuff.
But it's been fantastic.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
You know.

Speaker 16 (36:51):
I've really just kind of put my head down personally
and done this job and got a great I've had
a great and still continue to have great staffs that
are with me helping me. We've had great groups, got
great families that have come aboard and and it really
has It's worked out really good, and I'm absolutely pleased
and honored. And I try not to think too much
about it because I once again I got to put

(37:13):
my nose down.

Speaker 11 (37:13):
To get back to work and do what we do.

Speaker 16 (37:16):
But yeah, no, I'm very very pleased at where the
program has been and where it's at and where it's headed.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
You know, they always talk about this in the NBA.
They said that that you had your welcome to the
NBA moment? Did you have that moment when you said
welcome to the big time moment when you got you
just sat back and reflected, maybe and when you guys
were back east. And I hate the fact I've done
that before. You'll do like a years ago, like sales training.
You're like, it's like four o'clock California time, dude, can
we start this meeting later?

Speaker 11 (37:40):
You know?

Speaker 2 (37:41):
So, but did you have that mom what you just
said to yourself? I'm here, I am him.

Speaker 16 (37:46):
You know, I'll never say I say we are like
I said, it's just a great group.

Speaker 11 (37:54):
We've been real fortunate. But you know what when they.

Speaker 16 (37:56):
Start talking about us as like the best team in
California putting the baby I've heard, well, well that's a
whole thing.

Speaker 11 (38:05):
You know what.

Speaker 16 (38:05):
The expectations of this group by outsiders was just over
the top. You know, how do these kids go through
it and try to be the best team in the
history of high school baseball? Which, yeah, it's great to
be in that conversation, but this is baseball and things
happen and so on and so forth. Once again, what
I am as pleased as anything is, man, these guys
did it. They really really went through it all and

(38:26):
wore it correctly. There was no like check me out,
and there's no whining and crying. And another thing about
the group. You know, this the day and age of
this game, you know, whether it be even professionally college,
especially in high school as well, there's just a lot
of like cheerleading and dancing and check me out and
this and that. And we did a really really good

(38:47):
job of just playing the game and going about it
right and not too many skits and celebration type stuff.
We really, once again just kind of put our head
down and kept our nose to the grindstone and banged
it out and didn't.

Speaker 11 (38:58):
Show anybody up.

Speaker 16 (38:59):
You know, we had a lot of us, but we
were never we were never disrespectful route or not classy
in any type of way. And I'm very pleased with
my group for.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Just that they couldn't. There's no crime base.

Speaker 5 (39:11):
None at all.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
Again, Coach, again, we're really happy to have you guys here.
And again it's always a pleasure to have you guys
in and and again we're gonna bring up some of
your players. But I mean just special because you got
you know, these guys are coming back, you know, I
mean high caliber kids and they're coming right back. So
happy for you, coach, really really excited for the run.
And again just shows the character. I mean, you know
again one of the you're one of the few guys

(39:32):
that comes in here every time, no matter what the
scenario is, and make sure his kids are on the
right page as well.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
So again it HAPs off to you and keep up
the good work. Okay, it is right there, coach. Why
we're gonna go ahead bring in some of the players again.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
We have Corona Baseball, uh again, the top team here
in the nation. It's just really great to see these
guys are in our backyard. I don't know who we're
gonna start off with, but it's all good. Whoever comes
up with having way come on up. I don't know
if there is Yes, sir, young man, please put that
microphone up, introduce yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 15 (40:07):
Please, what's everybody?

Speaker 17 (40:08):
I'm trade you bull, I'm a Texas A and M
commit and then I'll be a senior at Cron High School.

Speaker 5 (40:12):
There it is right there?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Are you the twelfth man?

Speaker 4 (40:16):
Now, we we got a chance that we spoke to
you last time, man, and I think one of the
things that we were we were laughing about internally was
when you said, you know, you got starstruck when you
saw Derek Jeter. You know, I got to say, dere juda.
But talk about this season, man, just really special. You
guys were really uh. I mean, you guys are right
there again top team in the nation, But talk about

(40:36):
how special that I was for you personally?

Speaker 17 (40:38):
Yeah, for me, it was great, you know, just being
able to learn from everybody, you know, I think that's
the last thing I took away, you know, just going
out there and competing with my guys and you know,
we had so much fun. And you know, I know
we didn't, you know, have the year that we wanted,
but you know, it's how baseball works, so it's got
to keep going with it.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
That's good stuff right there. Now.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Again, I think we were talking about this before, but
please help us out again. I mean, you guys played
so many great games, so many competitive games, different areas,
But is there a game where it's it stood it
stood out to you and you were like, hey man,
everything was rolling, My bat was rolling and the team
was rolling.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
Is there a game stood out to you like that?

Speaker 15 (41:12):
Yeah, you know, there was actually a lot of them.

Speaker 17 (41:14):
But I think like going back to our league games
like King High School playing against those guys where just
everyone was having fun. We were all hitting home Yeah,
that was probably one of the games that I look
back to.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
There goes and you were speaking of speaking of home rooms.
I was just looking at the highlights. What about Aaron
Judge and Tani? Was that a crazy game?

Speaker 15 (41:30):
Was specially I was there last night?

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Excuse mes?

Speaker 5 (41:36):
He was like, you know, I was kind of I
don't know. You see that guy right there?

Speaker 2 (41:41):
You know.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
But but before we before we real quick transition because
the game your your your father has a special nine
to five help our audience.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
Let an audience know who your father has placed.

Speaker 15 (41:51):
Yeah, he's the third base coach for the Dodgers.

Speaker 5 (41:53):
So right there, it is right there this stuff.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
Yes, just so so did he teach you the game
and make you fall in.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Love with that game?

Speaker 15 (41:59):
You know? He always says that he let the players
coach us.

Speaker 17 (42:02):
And then I kind of look at back at that,
and you know it's true, like he would leave us
out there with the players and they would teach us
things here and there what they do to be great.
So he kind of laid back, and now that we're getting,
you know, closer to being in pro baseball, he's kind
of stepping in now and just giving us a little
tips here and there to get better.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
So I tell you a humble care because if my dad, man,
I would tell the coach. Do you know my dad,
That's what I would say every time? Right, And that's
not my daddy told you. But but tell us a
little bit. What made you want to go to Texas
A and M.

Speaker 17 (42:30):
Yeah, just the coaches, you know, from a standpoint of
the development there, and you know, just the campus.

Speaker 15 (42:36):
I kind of fell in love with that. So it
all worked out perfect.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
How far is it from the Rangers?

Speaker 15 (42:40):
They're like in an hour and a half.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
So you'll still be able to catch some some Dodger
gas and take some Dodger.

Speaker 5 (42:48):
Real quick.

Speaker 4 (42:48):
I got to piggyback off Coach B's initial question. So again,
being there last night watching that stuff happens in the cloud,
get electric, I mean, and then you know, and then
I'm sure you're thinking, like, hey, I may be able
to be in that space.

Speaker 5 (42:59):
I was for you last night.

Speaker 17 (43:00):
Yeah, no, it was great. Me and my brother sat
in the chair for you know, ninety straight and you know,
we visualized, so yeah, I visualized myself being there and
you know, ten years and you know, it's it's crazy
to see how advanced they are. Yeah, you know, just
take and learn from it. And it's it was pretty sick.

Speaker 5 (43:15):
That's good. Yeah, it is.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
I love I love the way its evolvement. Again, man,
thank you so much. Congratulations on the phenomenal season, young man.
Can't wait to see you know, because you're coming back.

Speaker 5 (43:24):
You're coming back, So you.

Speaker 4 (43:26):
Guys are You'll be back again, and obviously the expectations
will be a lot higher, but I'm sure you guys
will be able to step up to the challenge.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
Okay, it is right there.

Speaker 4 (43:33):
Thank you so much for being the studio with talent.
Man right in the in the in the League five
Sports Radio. Right here, we have Corona Baseball right here
live in studio again, top team in the nation, right
here in our backyard. Young man, put that microphone up,
introduce yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 6 (43:48):
Please.

Speaker 7 (43:49):
It was going on Josiah and Drotti and on the
catcher at Corona.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
Make yourself comfortable, man, put our microphone, the catcher, man,
the quarterback.

Speaker 5 (43:57):
We got your coming.

Speaker 4 (43:58):
Now talk about this this season obviously, Uh you guys,
you know hiccup with with Basco Talented team. Uh, you guys,
But you guys went out there. You guys showed up.
But tell me, you know again because you're you're you're
new to the team. But but tell me how special
this season was for you personally out there, you know,
swinging a bat with something, you know, with some really
special talent.

Speaker 5 (44:15):
Absolutely, how was it for you personally?

Speaker 7 (44:18):
For me, I mean it's It's been one of the
best baseball experiences I've had in a long time. You know,
getting out there and going to play and show my talent,
that's one thing. But the relationships I built within the team,
within the community of Corona, you know, just getting to
see you know, the little kids at the games, getting
to take take pictures with them, autographs. Yeah. I was
in that spot once. Yeah, looking up people and so

(44:39):
now being able to you know, be kids role models
and being asked like, hey, I'm a catcher, Like what
thinks can you help me with. You know, I think
that's been the biggest takeaway I took this year. But
I mean, just you know about the year, I'm just
so proud of the team. You know, we went through
a lot of adversity throughout this whole year, fall and spring,
and just the way we finished. You know, it didn't
it didn't end up our way, but you know, the

(44:59):
way we finished, I couldn't be more happy with my guys.

Speaker 4 (45:01):
Fantastic. I don't know if I got it. I want
to make sure please introduce yourself again real quick. I
want to ma sure everybody get a chance to know
who you are.

Speaker 7 (45:06):
Against Josiah Androtti, the catcher from Corona.

Speaker 5 (45:09):
There it goes catches from now.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
You know, when you think of baseball, everyone wants to
try to hit the big home runs.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
They want to pitch in this what made you want
to be a catcher.

Speaker 7 (45:20):
So when I when I first started playing baseball, I
always looked up to my brother. He was a short
stop second baseman. So whatever I saw him do, I
really just try to imitate and just copy, you know,
just copy and paste it.

Speaker 5 (45:30):
Pretty much, no doubt.

Speaker 7 (45:32):
And there was one game when I was I think
I was like eleven years old and we were up
by a lot and my travel team, our catcher got
hurt and we didn't have another catcher, and so I
went back there. And you know, I always wondered, like, man,
how does the catcher not get hit from the back?
So when I went back there, you know, it just
I just fell in love instantly. I think, you know,
just being able to see all eight positions and you know,

(45:54):
being a leader on the field. I think that's a
trait that I've always had growing up, as just being
a leader on the field and being able to lead
my guys. And you know, once I once I turned thirteen,
I really start take a catching serious and ever since then,
I've never looked back. And you know, just keep on
putting in work. And you know, I'm very happy where
I'm at today.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Right, Oh go ahead, please make that when you when
you when someone's uh, you know, in the box and
they're ready to hit it. So what do you and
your picture communicate and say, we're gonna smoke this, dude?

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Don't give me So is that something you guys?

Speaker 3 (46:22):
I know you have the hands side, do you guys
communicate that give me the gas?

Speaker 11 (46:26):
Baby?

Speaker 7 (46:26):
I mean, I think I think there are some things.
You know, me as a catcher, I'll look at the
I'll look at the batter. Maybe you know, his hands
are moving super fast, he looks a little antsy, maybe
he's scared a little bit, you know, backed off the
plate or you know, in the very back of the plate.
But there's not too much really signs. You know that
I could, you know, give my pitcher. But you know,
when we go out there, we we know that you know,

(46:47):
we're trying to blow it by you no matter what.
We'll have our game plan, we try and do you
know a pretty good scouting report on the batters, you know,
coming in, we know what they like to do, what
they don't like to do. But not too many really signs.
We just like to go out there and just throw
a byto man, that's that's the best feeling.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
Yes, you know, it always gets me.

Speaker 3 (47:04):
It's when you see a curve bar nasty curveball and
the catcher catches it.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
How do you know when the ball is breaking?

Speaker 7 (47:11):
Man, I just say it takes a lot of practice
and just getting to know your pictures, you know, and
bullpens in pre season, you know, because every single picture
is different, a different armslot, different angle, different movement. But
I think just practice and you know, just getting to
know your picture, you know, even better more than on

(47:33):
a baseball standard, you know, because when you go out there,
it's just the pictures on an island and it's just him.
And you know, I tell my picture before every game. Man,
I'm going out there. I'm gonna work my tail off
for you.

Speaker 11 (47:43):
You know.

Speaker 7 (47:43):
I want them to feel so comfortable with me to
where they could spike any pitch and you know I'm
a block it for them. So I think just having
the that that confidence between me and my pitcher, I
think there's really no better better feelings.

Speaker 4 (47:54):
And then real quick and I'll ask you to I
know we got a chance to ask before, but talk
about a game for you personally where everything was just rolling.
You guys have played a lot of baseball, a lot
of different plays, but is there a game that kind
of stood out to you It was like, man, this
the bat was rolling this game.

Speaker 5 (48:08):
Absolutely.

Speaker 7 (48:09):
Yeah, I'd probably have to say our our first playoff
game against Lossos. It was the second round we had.
We were the first seat, so we got to buy.
We played Lossos at home and I mean, just the
energy since I got to the field. I mean we
showed up to the field two hours before and there
was already fans set.

Speaker 5 (48:23):
Wow, it was packed.

Speaker 7 (48:25):
So seeing that, you know it really you know, flipped
a switch in my head. I was like, man, like,
this is you know, everything we've all worked for this
whole year. And that game I went three for three
with a hit by pitch on a home run. Yeah,
that's that's for sure, you know, a game I wouldn't
you know, wouldn't forget. And that was, like I said,
our first playoff game, and you know, just with the

(48:46):
crowd there, and that was the.

Speaker 5 (48:47):
Team that's a local team, it wants to beat.

Speaker 7 (48:50):
You guys exactly, played them earlier in the season.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
They're a good team.

Speaker 7 (48:53):
Yeah, but I think just I just had, you know,
a little bit a little bit of different energy that game.
You know, just having the crowd first playoff game, that
a little bit helps, man, that's how you exactly. So, yeah,
we had a you know, a great game. That game
caught very well as well. I mean, yeah, it's it
was just a great game.

Speaker 5 (49:09):
Fantastic again.

Speaker 4 (49:10):
Well, congratulation again, you guys, really, you guys didn't disappointment.
I mean, that's a lot of pressure going in there
with all those teams, all those fans wanting to beat
you guys, and you guys did well again even you
got you guys juniors, you know what I mean. So
you guys are gonna be back last year. So again,
best of luck to you. Get a lot of work
in this summer.

Speaker 6 (49:25):
Man.

Speaker 5 (49:25):
I can't wait till you guys next year.

Speaker 6 (49:26):
Oka.

Speaker 5 (49:27):
It is Fox Sports Radio AM thirteen fifty.

Speaker 4 (49:29):
We have Corona Baseball right here live in studio again,
one of the top teams coach b uh here in
the nation. And we're really happy to have these young
men on again. Uh uh and so so so we're
gonna go ahead, have my man come on in. Young man,
please do with the courtesy of introducing yourself to our
live radio audience.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
Please, my name is Anthony Murphy.

Speaker 4 (49:51):
There it is right there, mister Murphy. Always good to
have your kid to play quarterback there.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
It doesn't call us back anymore.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
You're gonna have his mom called out, keep talking about
you know, her son two years.

Speaker 5 (50:02):
In a row. Jackson gonna call this a video.

Speaker 4 (50:05):
But we aging I mean tell you I need an
you know now, mister Murvy again, man, what a phenomenal year.
I mean, honestly, you've had a great career already at
Corona and you're you know, you still got another year
to go, which is which is crazy. Uh, But talk
about this year, man, how was it for you personally?
You guys got a chance to travel all over the place,
saw a lot of stuff, a lot of fans.

Speaker 5 (50:27):
But how about this year for you personally?

Speaker 6 (50:29):
Honestly it was a blessing.

Speaker 5 (50:30):
But Michael won't make su everybody can hear your heyough,
it was.

Speaker 14 (50:32):
A blessing to be honest, to be part of a
team who's number one in the nation. A lot of
talent and a lot of knowledge on our team. But
not only that, we get opportunities that a lot of
like other high schoolers don't get. They don't get to
go travel in North Carolina, play the best teams. They
don't get to get deals with other Franklin Adidas, they
don't get over right, So it's honestly a blessing. And
also it helps my career and just makes me a

(50:55):
better person in general.

Speaker 5 (50:56):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
And it was funny because your coach mean to something
to you and I know again coming up and get
You're a young guy, so seeing this, you know.

Speaker 5 (51:04):
It has to be crazy.

Speaker 4 (51:04):
But you know, I saw a lot of pictures where
kids were just lined up to take pictures with you autograph.
I mean, being a junior in high school has to
be bananas.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
But how was that for you personally?

Speaker 4 (51:16):
To see all these kids run up to you and
ask for autograph stuff like I mean, rockstar stuff.

Speaker 14 (51:19):
Man, it warmed my heart for sure. Every time seeing
after the game kids yell at my name. Even when
I go to bat, I'm on deck circle, the kids
are yelling at my name, like oh kind of.

Speaker 6 (51:27):
Getting it warms my heart, kind of distracts me a little.

Speaker 14 (51:31):
Bit, but like I'm fine with it because it's for
the kids at the end of the day, and it
honestly is a blessing from God.

Speaker 6 (51:36):
There it is.

Speaker 5 (51:36):
That's good stuff.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
Right You guys think all the years that He put
in the time you know for you, was there a
moment we'll talk about that where you just said, hey,
this might be something like any time in your life
where you were thinking I may have a shot at
this baseball thing.

Speaker 14 (51:48):
I think like going like middle school, more of like
middle school when I went because I went to a
private middle school, like weightlifting stuff, I started to like
really develop.

Speaker 6 (51:56):
From like being skinny and not like my swing not
being that good.

Speaker 14 (51:59):
My talent still there, but not like my skill, and
I think I started to develop my skill really and
add on to my talent. And that's when I really
started to notice I could take this to another level.
So I really started to believe that, yeah.

Speaker 3 (52:10):
Right right, you know what was the decision? And I
love it. I always told my kids, the best school
for you is free. What was the decision for you
to go to LSU. I mean, that's a long way
from home. Were talking in Louisiana, So what was the
decision for you to go out there? I know that's
an SEC program, strong, great tradition out there with baseball.

Speaker 14 (52:29):
I think a big decision was like meeting my goals,
Like I want to develop there. I want to be
able to thrive in a place where they meet, they
come to me and ask me what I need to
be better.

Speaker 6 (52:39):
They also helped me.

Speaker 14 (52:40):
They get me on the field, develop me, and just
also the schooling. They're a really good school. I loved
on campus. Their coaches are amazing, the players on the
team I met them.

Speaker 6 (52:48):
They're amazing.

Speaker 14 (52:49):
I know some of the kids and honestly, just like
it thrived my goals and it helped me a lot,
like figure out where I want to go.

Speaker 11 (52:55):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (52:55):
See the coaches asked them, what do they need to
My coaches asked, what can we do to get you
to lead out of here?

Speaker 5 (53:00):
Would you graduate to get you to go to it Tech?
Right now?

Speaker 6 (53:04):
Now?

Speaker 4 (53:04):
Now, it's funny because like we we we were just
talking to one of your teammates. And baseball is such
a I mean, it's such I mean again, if you're
batting thirty, you know, three hundred, you know, I mean,
you know you're killing it. I mean but and I
mean you only hitting the ball thirty percent of the time.
Baseball is such a I mean, it's it's a fine
line of being a being being good. How what what
what go through the preparation of you getting you know,

(53:24):
you working on your game? What are some of the
things you work on in terms of just getting better
at your craft?

Speaker 14 (53:29):
Honestly, it's it's an everyday thing, going to like the cages,
even when it's like a rainy day, going to futures
where they have indoor cages. Yeah, making sure you take
care of your body, like physically, because you can get
injured any moment. Yeah, going to the cages, working on
your swing, even when off days, when you're feeling a
little sore, you gotta go work on it. Yeah, do twork.
You get a heavy ball, heavy back. Yeah, you gotta

(53:50):
do it all. I got to make sure your swing
feels right. You got to keep the muscle memory fantastic.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
They would have loved us. We kept hydrated.

Speaker 3 (53:56):
Yeah, the water boys water.

Speaker 4 (54:00):
Now is there a player with this, like a major
league player that maybe you kind of immulate your game
after or may you look at him and going, hey, man,
like you know, one of these days, I'm I'm gonna
get my game right.

Speaker 5 (54:09):
There is this somebody in the league. It's like that
for you.

Speaker 14 (54:12):
I'd say Mookie Bets and PC. Yeah, I'd say hitting
for Mookie.

Speaker 4 (54:16):
Bets Okay, Yeah, Mookie is woof he has a bat
on them. Well, I tell you what, young man, you
have a bright future. I mean, it's one of the
things we were you know, we didn't get a chance
to talk about this on there, but again, even you know,
Coach Wilt was talking about how the teachers just really
just talk about how you are your leadership out there
and what you do and how you're a great kid
on and off the field. So keep that up. Obviously,
come from a good family. And again, you know what
Coach Wire is doing with you guys is a phenomenal job, man,

(54:38):
So keep up the good work.

Speaker 5 (54:39):
Again.

Speaker 4 (54:39):
I know you guys didn't didn't check the box. This
take the time, but I love the energy and I
know you guys be back next year. There it is
been fantastic right there. Again, that's Corona High School, the
Panthers right there. Coach B live right here in the studio.
I say, put some respect on these young men names.
These guys do a phenomenal job. Really always excited to
have them in the studio.

Speaker 5 (55:01):
Again. These gentlemen do a great job.

Speaker 4 (55:02):
We're gonna take a quick break when we come back,
coach with Coach B and I we're gonna wrap this
little thing up real quick. But it's gonna take a
quick quick break and then we'll uh uh you said,
oh yeah, bring back there we go, Here we go.
I said, I was looking for them. Yeah, it's being
coach back now coach again. Uh now talk about this
real quick again, great group right there. Obviously, I mean,
you know there's just this this, I mean this great kids. Uh,

(55:24):
but talk about what happens now. I mean, obviously you
guys take a little bit of break, but then you know,
I mean you guys, you guys get back to work soon,
you know what I mean. So tell me what happens,
what happens for you know.

Speaker 16 (55:34):
For me, you know, we kind of we don't do
a whole lot with the returners during the summer. We
used to, but now there's so many things out there
in the world that you know, pulling these guys sleep this,
come to that train with us, and I get it,
and they should and and we kind of we want
that because we kind of want what we teach these guys.
We want them to go out and do their thing
and either make an adjustment or learn something else, bring

(55:54):
it back to us, tell us what we how we
might want to treat this or whatever the case might be.
And that's for those guys. We come back in the
fall and we readjust and for the program you know,
we got we'll have a little couple of camps.

Speaker 4 (56:05):
So some yes, so I saw the camps coming up.
Tell everybody about the camps that are coming up to because.

Speaker 16 (56:08):
I know we got as of right now, we're probably
gonna do a little bit more down the road.

Speaker 11 (56:12):
We just have them solidified it.

Speaker 16 (56:14):
But we have something going on next weekend I believe
it's the seventh and eighth, I believe, and that's through
us and Futures where a lot of these guys train
at there they're opening, so that it really is more
of a fundraiser on that end and getting a chance
to work with some kids and getting all their metrics
over the Futures and all the bells and whistles nice.
And then after that midweek we have our incoming freshman camp.
Anybody that might be coming in or trying to be

(56:36):
a Corona Panther, we can get them out there and
get them, get them going, making some decisions and having
them make adjustments whatever the case, and getting them moving
in the program.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
I tell you what, coach, you're doing a phenomenal job.
I mean, again, it's great just to see it. And
again how humble you guys are. Number one team in
the nation, and the humility but between you yourself, your players,
it's just it's special. Especially it's really good to see,
especially in an age where it's.

Speaker 5 (57:01):
A me me me age, you know what I mean.
So it's good to see it, fantastic to see it.

Speaker 11 (57:04):
Sure that means a ton, Yes, absolutely so.

Speaker 4 (57:07):
Again, coach Wise, again, thank you so much. You guys
did a wonderful job. And again we're happy to see it.
And again it's even special and kind of put a
cherry on top of these kids are coming back next year,
so it's scary. Yes, it's running back all right there,
it is right there. So we're gonna get ready to
wrap up, coach. But I know, I don't know if
you're gonna go to Grams right after this, Coach b
But I mean, I don't know what you're gonna do.

Speaker 3 (57:28):
I will not be there after. I have some things
to do with the wife. Okay, we will be using it,
he said, using that. Okay, you're be using that student.
Okay's good stuff. Well again, make sure everybody, you guys
come out there. We're gonna be doing our Father's Day
celebration again. I am your your host. You're listening to
the coach being eternal. I am your host eternal, and.

Speaker 2 (57:44):
I am your host. Coach be on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (57:46):
Her in southern California on Fox Sports Am thirteen fifteen
and It's always extreamly twenty four seven on the iHeart
Radio app.

Speaker 5 (57:51):
Big Shout Out Corona Baseball.
