Speaker 3 (00:28):
And I am your host eternal right here live in
a great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios, Coach B.
And again we are here on a very very misty morning.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Coach B.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I don't know about you, man, but I tell you what.
It was a little it was tough. Bo Man, my faults?

Speaker 5 (00:47):
How about that? Man? But how's the how's it going
over there? Man in the Arrington household? Ma'am? How's not
going over there?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Living the dream? You know? That's life is good. We're excited,
super excited, you know it's it's I hate this type
of whether. This is why you pay extra to stay
in California. When it comes to rain not too long ago,
and when it comes to rain and whatnot. Like I
tell everybody, we're California. We import our water. We don't

(01:12):
believe we don't need water from the sky. No, thank you.
But you know, life is good man, how about yourself?

Speaker 3 (01:17):
And everything's good man. We're rocking and rolling, you know everything. Actually,
when I leave here today, we're gonna be celebrating my
aunt's retirement. She's retiring from the Valverde School District. Well,
you know, let me take that back. She'sn't actually in
the Marino Valley School District. She's been a counselor there

(01:38):
for wo I mean a great a long amount of time.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
I mean, you know, twenty plus years.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
So she's having her retirement party today. So I'm excited
for her. Again, so big shout out to my aunt Kathy,
and again y had.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
She's retiring today.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
So we're going to have a whole little little wing
ding at the night little Italian restaurants. So I'm gonna
be I was gonna say, wee, wee, that's French. What
do you say, Uh, you got some Italian with you?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Coach?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I do not, Okay, I do now I don't know, but.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
Okayor is that that's French.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I don't know. I don't I know, pizza with pepperoni. Uh,
that's what that's.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
What I like.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
That's that's that's what I like. Yeah, I'm going for
the salmon and pasta today. That's what I'm gonna be having.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
So I'm again nonetheless excited for for my aunt special
guests today.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Coach be, We're really excited. Uh. This gentleman, uh made
his bones. He's I was just I was just.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Checking out some of his uh his background.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
He is a Rolling High School graduate. Where city is
that from?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Roland Hills, Rolling Heights, just as Roland. I don't know
what Roland is. I know Rolling Heights, but I don't know.
I don't is that up in the Bay. I'm like,
I don't know, man, But at any rate, he he
this is our guy, Coach Matt, We're happy to have

(03:09):
him on. Coach b Oh, this says Roland High schools
in Roland Hill or Heights, Roland Heights. Okay, Yes, John
a Roland High School. Okay, so that's who the city
is named after.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Yeah, so he's a graduate from there.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
So he spent five seasons over at Ontario Christian And
I mean he's even I mean, he's done a great
deal there. I think if I'm looking at his record correctly,
I believe his record there during that time was one
hundred and forty wins and twenty two losses.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
So again very acclimated.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
And then Coach b not only you know, not only
is he highly decorated in terms of his tenure act
and coachings, he also coached our very first two fifteen game.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
That's when we first did.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
The Riverside versus Sam Bernardino All Star basketball game.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
And again we're talking, we're talking.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
About none other than now newly appointed head basketball girls
coach over at the Corona Centennial. That's Coach Matt. So
he'll be joining us a little bit later on, so
we'll get a chance to talk to him some. Really, really,
you know, it's big time news. Coach got me because
obviously you know, you know Coach Matt, you know, and
even when I told you're like, you're kind of shocked,
so I know there must be some stuff. So you know,

(04:27):
again it's it's it's still shocking. I think there's still
shockwaves going throughout the city, the Inland Empire, the I
as a whole. But yes, it's big, big news right there,
and we can't wait to talk to him about it.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yes, indeed, and you know you think of Centennial, what
a powerhouse, what a big get for them. That's good
to see him. And this is the one thing you
know in life. And I tell my kids about this
all the time. I use a boxing analogy. Doesn't matter
how many times you get knocked down, as long as
you get up one more time than you get knocked down.
So if you get knocked down three times, you get
up four times. That's all you have to do. You

(05:01):
keep fighting, you keep chugging away, and that's why how
you can absolutely do it. But you know, it's some
crazy news going on in the world now. I don't
know if you've seen this in the news, but now
they're saying that the college programs can now officially pay
their student athletes, and they're going to create a salary cab.
They're going to create a commission that shows what players

(05:24):
are worth. It sounds a lot like the professional sports.
But you know, being a guy coming from a school
that just became a legit mid major, we are excluded
from the party. There is no way that the school
that my school GCU can compete with these programs and
the moneies that the deep pockets that they have.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
You know, couse.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
But that's been one of my things right there, is
trying to trying to figure out he's coming, trying to
figure out how that's going to really work, Coach b
because again, you know, I was just as I was
coming up here, it was a big talk on the
radio about that. Like, so, for instance, you'll have these

(06:03):
schools Arkansas, the Alabama zone.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Arkansas is a big one because you have the Walton
family and you have the Tyson Chicken family.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
So you have these schools like that.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
You know they're connected to those schools, I should say, yeah,
point and it's all good. You know, as well as
Jerry Jerry's over there, he's still he's.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
An alumni, and so is what's the coach from the Cowboys.
He's an alumni as well.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Switzerland. No, no, no, no, Jones, Jerry Jones.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
But you're talking about that, not yes, when he went
to school with them, but the coach Jimmy Johnson, Jimmy
Johnson Johnson, so yeah Johnson, So those are both Arkansas boys. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
So I mean you get these coaches and you get
excuse me. You get these schools that have really really
deep pockets with alumnis and it's just gonna be interesting
and Coach, you know, and again it's Coach being eternal
right here, Love on Fox Sports Radio. We're talking about
this brand new breaking news about how colleges can now
pay their athletes and how does this work. Coach be

(07:01):
in terms because I just one of the things I
was concerned about. There's there's still they're still saying that
they're not actually employees.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
No they're not, so they can't do a class action
or whatnot. I know this has a lot. This all
started with with a local that went to Artisia High School.
Uh saw his image on the game and he's saying,
I'm not getting anything from that, and you know, Coach
be crazy story about that.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
He was literally working right here in Ontario. He was,
he was he was a car salesman for a while.
We're talking about none other, none other than excuse me,
Ed O'Bannon, part of the old Banner brothers that were
hitting the courts old right U C L A and
like and to your point, because I'll never forget that man.
I remember vividly when he when he first you know,

(07:44):
kicked off that lawsuit and everybody thought he was crazy.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
You know, everybody thought he was crazy man. But he
was like, wait a minute.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
I mean these guys were really using their likeness, using
their image, and you know, and here he's like here
I am at this car spot, you know, barely trying
to figure out how how you know paying my rent?
And uh, you know heard these video games a sports
making tons of money off me.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
And that's a funny thing. I mean he played was
he he didn't live up to what we expected him
to do in the pros because his needs I just
didn't hold up neither.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
That Really the Charles Charles Charles.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
I never thought was really Charles to me, reminds me
of Jello. Charles just wasn't big enough for the position
that he was trying.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Crazy athletic, very very athletic, but just like to your point, right,
not not just didn't have that NBA body.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Right, Because when you think of someone who's undersized like that,
you have to be like a Charles Barkley, you have
to be a generational talent. Because Charles Barkley was the
size of a point guard and he was down on
the low block and just Charles was he was.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Just real anyway, you know, and then he then he
got he really he was always kind of like shoulder heavy,
you know, like you know, so he he had that
and he played with that, ed but that to your point,
he was just just again a freak athlete, right. And
you know a lot of people they look at him now,
they don't remember Chuck back in the day, right, And
Charles he wants the guys to reinvented itself. But nonetheless,

(08:59):
to your point, as we're talking about, uh, this breaking
news that colleges can now pay uh student athletes. And
and again a lot of people think, you know, they
think to themselves, like, how does this work? You know,
and n Io basically, you know, it's again it's name,
image and likeness. And ultimately this comes down to it's

(09:20):
not the schools paying them themselves, but a.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Lot of the time it's the boosters.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
I mean, you know how this works, coach b but uh,
but the boosters they come in there and they just
bango this thing. So you know, I mean, already we're
seeing it now, we're seeing the trinkle down effect now,
or we're you know, we're seeing at the high school
level where where you know, you have these high schools
now that are paying kids. You know which is which
is bananas, but it happens.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I know it's collect us paying them. I don't know
if the high school I.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Take I take that back, but it's the it's the
it's the it's again the booster program. But it's like
the same same, same logic. It's not the actual schools
paying the money directly, but it's you know, they're still
getting money on the schools.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Beha right right, So and that's one of the things
and we will will remain nameless. But we had a
scholarship banquet and one of the players, one of the coaches, said, hey,
he's making more money than than than the superintendent because
he had an nil deal.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Yes he did, and it's just one of those several deals.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Yes, you can see all that stuff is forming right
in front of us, and it's one of those situations.
I think this is one of the things where the
it's a sign of the times. It's like, like I
was telling my daughter the other day, the way my
father raised me in the seventies and eighties, you couldn't
do that today. And you can see that now that's
the sign of the times, whereas now, you know, in
the in the eighties and nineties, you could tell these kids, hey,

(10:37):
you're here to get a scholarship and you're you're playing
for free. But then the NCAA tournament makes over two
billion dollars a year, so you know, then I get
it that scholarship is worth you know, fifty sixty thousand dollars.
I understand that. But when you're bringing that kind of
money to a college, those are things you just.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Had to have conversations about, well, you know, and not
the thing when you look at you know, and then
just as it's so funny that now back in the day,
even even guys like Reggie Bush, they were ridiculed for
just for taking some money when when you know, and
again when you and I both know USC stands with
Field and they're getting me big, big unless.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
But she didn't even get the money. Was it was
connected to him. It was his mother and stepfather, it
was housing they got and Reggie Bush didn't even benefit.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
It never even benefited from it. And that and you know,
and then it just goes to show you, you know,
and he went through all kinds of stuff. I mean,
you know, it didn't get his heisman, went through you know,
just a lot of stuff, you know people, you know,
a lot of bad publicity and all that because you know,
USC is making all this money off of him. And
and to your point, you know he was, he was
you know, his parents got some benefits. Uh, just just

(11:45):
so they can you know, they can stay so that
way they you know, they can stay close to see
see the games. You know, it's just insane, crazy stuff.
But now it's full on. Hey, this kid's getting this
this amount of money. I mean, you know, I mean
it's it's just you know, and and if you're a
small school coach, be it.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
I mean, good luck.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
You know, my Grand Canyon University. You know, we'll be
moving over into Thank god, we're leaving the Whack because
you know, their name says it all. And now we're
going over to the Mountain West. But you know, I'm
gonna say this, and.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
I'm gonna put thishouse u c R.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Now, man, So so u c R is in the
uc RS and the Big No, they're in the pack
right Big West, Big West. The Big West has all
the other US, which is a great conference because you
have all the u c's, the smaller schools that like
the Irvines and u c RS. I think Sea Sun.
They're all in that Big West, which is a great
conference and it's easy travel. But I'm gonna say this,

(12:39):
I'm gonna throw this. You know, there was a major
conference out here that Oregon U s C, U c
L A was a part of, and they kind of folded.
It's two of them now, and then you have the
Mountain West. Make up, make it work and make that.
Just bring those two together, because the West needs a
power conference. I have to have a power counts. You

(13:02):
get those two together. I'm not saying they're going to
be a power five, but they would be on the
on the upper echelne of the second second class of conferences.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
You know, it's one of those things, Coach b where
you know, I still I'm partial about this thing, but
you know those you know U c l A, USC
being in the Big twelve, you know.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
That first you've never heard of them, never heard of it.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
I mean, you know, because again, I actually I'm a
fan of I like the fact that we're going to
see you know, USC playing against uh uh, you know,
the the Michigans of the world, the Michigan State, Ohio State.
You know, I want to see those games. I mean
want to see it on a football level. I want
to see it on the basketball level, because far too
many times we've seen that, We've seen games where we

(13:49):
don't even get a chance to even see those guys
compete against those schools. You know, when we come back,
Coach b I got to get your thoughts on this,
because you know, you know our radio partners, there's a
lot of talk about it. Again, We're gonna we're gonna
continue our conversation a little bit, coach being coach being eternal,
We're gonna continue our conversation regarding these big time developments
of college sports now being able to pay their athletes.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
But when we come back, I gotta get I gotta.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Say this, man if us he doesn't play Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
See, I guess what we're gonna talk about. That's gonna
we're gonna talk about that. We're gonna talk about that
when we come back. So we're gonna do We're gonna
take a quick break. And again, I just got word
that our guy, coach Matt he is in Root, so
he will be here.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Surely. Can't wait to talk to him about.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
His brand new position, shock the world with his you
know some of some big time development, shock the world,
big time shockers. So when he can't wait to come
in so again, it's Coach being Eternal. We're gonna come
right back again. I am excuse me. You are listening

celebrating Dad's Block party.

Speaker 5 (18:20):

Speaker 3 (18:21):
I mean they're blocking the whole block off. We have
miss Benita in. You even said it, Coach be like,
who do you know in downtown Riverside where you were
able to knock knock the whole block off, specifically right
there on Main Street. But nonetheless it's Benita, Benita, Benita.
It's connected and so we're really happy that we'll be
doing that all together. But again, we're gonna be doing

(18:42):
we're as coach being myself, we're gonna be doing something
similar that we did for Mother's Day. We had a
Mother's Day campaign, but this is going to be for
Father's Day. So Coach b I don't know if you
have your email up there or if you want to
let the good people know with one Special Inland Empire
Dad is going to get if they win.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
This particular competition.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Let's see, Okay, I got the I have to pull
the have you knock it out because I'm looking at this,
I'm trying to find it.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
But yeah, you got it.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Okay, Okay, So so right now as it stands, One
Special Dad, well, let me kind of get into how
you can actually nominate somebody. So we're gonna have the
poster is gonna come up on the I E. Sports
Net again I E Sports. I said it was the
second part of it. It was a bottom below it phone.
It's all good, okay, but uh but again, how you

(19:32):

(19:52):
let the good folks know what this one special Dad
is gonna get.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Okay, So so we're right right now, and we talked
about it. You say, the Grams was going to get
one hundred dollars gift card for an unforgettable dining featuring
Southern style cuisine and a warm, homye atmosphere for all
the homey atmospheres. And then you have Hyatt Place Hotel,
one free night at the newly renovated hotel and the

(20:18):
beautiful downtown Riverside area that is super nice. And then
six rings a pair of they're gonna give you six
pair a pair. I'm sorry, I went a pair, so
I would imagine as a reference to MJ. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
So they're gonna get a pair of sniggers courtesy of
the newly relocated downtown shop known for buying and selling

(20:40):
top quality football. And you know, speaking of that man,
my youngest son Brandon, we went to He said, I
want to get some shoes. And we go to this
store and it's not like a regular shoe store, and
I mean it's a culture.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
Man.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
You go in there, you negotiate prices and you tell that.
I was like, hey, you know what, man, we're gonna
go to foot locker. You know, it's like what you
do here.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
Coach B wasn't ready.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
I wasn't. And the shoes in there, They'll be like
two hundred and fifty three. And I'm saying like, oh, yeah,
those are the Jordan's, you know, ninety five's and uh,
you know there's only like you know, they've only had
twenty seven Jordan's. You know, those are the ninety three
of you know, editions of Jordan's and there are two
seventy eight. And I'd say, wait, wait, hold on, what
did you say?

Speaker 5 (21:21):
No, I'm saying, I mean these it's crazy. What's going on?
I think this this?

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Uh we have to we have to get our guy
on from uh from six rings.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Yes, we do, because they have It's like it's shoe
exes with My other son told me it's kind of
like the stock market.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Yeah, it's it's insane, it's very it's it's a brand
new culture. And then you know another thing these kids
do nowadays, Coach Being though, they'll buy like a regular
like a Nike, like an air Force one, right, and
then they're going there and these guys are designing them
for two hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
They'll replace the soul like they get old Jordan's. They
replace the souls everything, so big business.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yeah, no, guarantee you. I had an old guy moment
for sure the first time I saw. But nonetheless, again
we're really excited about it again, Coach Being he turning
right here live on Fox Sports Radio. Like I said, so,
this campaign is gonna be running all throughout the week.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
We're gonna be really pushing this thing.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Again in VP Dad again, that one special Dad is
going to get a one hundred dollars a gift card
on Behalf of Graham's Barbecue right downtown. And then you're
also going to get a one night stay at the
newly remodeled Hyatt Hotel. And then and then, Coach B,
we ain't done yet. And then you're gonna also get

(22:34):
a pair of real, real nice sneakers by on Behalf
excuse me, of six rings the brand new shoe store,
right downtown. And again this is all gonna be happening
taking place we U this week. We're gonna be doing
our campaign this week. So again, folks, be on the
lookout for the post. You'll see a post. Again it's

(22:54):
gonna be the MVP MVP Dad excuse me, Father Day experience.
And again we want you guys to tag your inland
empire Dad. Tell us something special and uh and and
you know we're gonna be doing We're gonna be announcing
that winner uh this time next week.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Coach is on you.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah, I tell you that's uh. That that lets you
know how much juice miss Benita has she got it done.
But the beauty of it and what I really loved
and appreciated the fact she did an honor for father.
You think about that, her father went out there, uh
and set up the business, and then you have her
daughter took it over it over.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Now, yes, it's gonna be as you're saying, Yeah, his
daughter took it over and then now she's able to
now transfer over to her grandson, all because the dad.
Yeah man a vision. Yep, you sell some good barbecue,
yeah man. And again again mister b Uh, that's our guy, right,
there man again, used to see him all downtown, our
gut there and here in the studio with us. You know,

(23:54):
he's had the experience with him again. I mean, but
it's a really, really great man. And uh, just as
she was saying so eloquently that last week on the show,
is that you know, he was really into making sure
that uh men of color were able to get second chances.
So he did a lot, did a really really good
job of making sure he hired people in the community.
And that's something that I always be grateful for him doing.

(24:16):
Even my nephew, My nephew Jalen worked down there for
a quick so wow. Yeah, so Jalen was down there
working for a quick second as well. So and I
know that, you know, she was very nice. Coach B
was saying he was hungry last week, and she even
slid us.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
Coach B and.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Myself both got fifty dollars gift card. So I'm I'm
I'm getting down there at some point in time. I'm
gonna see what you know. I'm not a captish guy.
Coach By said, he's not a cat. He said, I.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Tell people, I don't see if it ever lived in
the wall.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
I don't need it. No, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Now you were saying that you had some bad experiences.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
I had, you know, And that's the closest I think
I came expiring. I had. I mean, I don't even
want to go into details, but I had food poisoned.
That's just say it was bad. It was bad. I
know that I had some shrimp fried rice. I was
working years ago at a warehouse, jobbing in my early twenties.
Lady kemp And says that who want some of this?
If shrimp fried, all three of us got food poisoning.

(25:12):
I haven't eaten shrimp. I was probably twenty years old.
I haven't eaten anything from the sea since. And the
smell of seafood now just yeah, no, think.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
I got I think mine was from Hawaiian barbecue. Now
I've never been a big Hawaiian barbecue guy at all,
but these guys sold me on it, coach.

Speaker 5 (25:32):
They're like, oh man, you.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Gotta taste this. And I'm like, oh man, you know,
and you know? And I again, I don't even eat meat,
but I ate something.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
And that's the thing that I have friends at a vegetarian
If you if you go eat meat. You will get sick.
It doesn't matter what you eat.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Yeah, so I ate, well clearly that whatever they did,
they cooked something in the same pan.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
And let me tell you something, whatever whatever I got was.
I mean, I had.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
People taking me to the hospital like I gotta go,
and you know, everybody thought it was the funniest thing
in the world.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
But I was going through it. I mean I was.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
I know what you mean like when you said, I
mean you just sick, sick, dehydrated sick. And uh so
I know I've been there, done that before, and I
don't want to do that again. But again, we will
be trying some of this great food down there. Uh
I know Coach b you know, he looking forward to
go spending his fifty dollars gift card.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
You mean the wife, So I showed it to her.
She I don't even know where it is. She did
a possession of the wife, so she has it now.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
She has it now. But again, we're really excited about it.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
We're going to be doing our MVP Dad Father's Day experience,
I mean one special Inland Empire. Dad is gonna get
this really really great stuff and you know we have
more giveaways. We're gonna get ready to give away as well.
So I can't know, we can't give away everything right now,
but we got more coming but again right now, and

(26:53):
this campaign, this campaign will be running throughout the course
of the week. Graham's Barbecue, one hundred dollars gift card
the highatt Place Hotel will get you a very very
nice one night's day at the newly remodeled downtown location.
And then six rings the brand new trendy store which
is relocated nestled right here in downtown Riverside, is going

(27:15):
to give you a pair of sneakers. So again that's
really we're really excited about that. The MVP Dad Father
Day experience is all going to be kicking off this week,
and again we will be announcing the winner this time
next week. Now, coach, we were talking about this. We
got a couple of minutes left before we go to break.
Now what I'm hearing about this again? You know our

(27:39):
guy Petros, you know he goes hard on USC right now.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
You know again for good reason.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
The disclaimer he used to be the PA announcement for
basketball and the last athletic director showed him the door.
Yes he did, Yes he did, because of his opinions
because he is a US trojan.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
He's an alum. He is an alum. So again he
hasn't he has opinions.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
And and for my money, you know, again, folks have
their own opinions, but I don't in this particular instance,
I don't see is wrong brand new development. They're saying
that the coach decided not to compete against Notre Dame.
I don't know about you coach people. When I heard that, well,
first thing, first tell me is that the case. What's
going on over there? I haven't heard an official word yet.

(28:20):
I'm sure that it's happened.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
But you know, the coach now is the same guy
that tried to ban reporters from coming to practice. This
is not this is not Norman, Oklahoma, man. This is
Los Angeles, and it's a little bit different out here.
USC is special. USC is sacred, and you know, I
get the thought of it. You're in the Big ten
now and now you're playing the best Big ten. There's

(28:43):
no there's no weeks off pounds with pounds. It's the
best conference areas. In addition to and we had your
your guy coach Smith in USC has to travel and
this is what they wanted. They have to travel all
the way back east. Yep, this is what you asked
for because you were in a conference out here. But
I get it. And that's hard travel too.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
It is especially you know, you got these are youngsters
coach to be traveling way across and then and then
you know you gotta get right back. I mean that,
you know, traveling already is just is just rough. But
then you got to you gotta get right at it.
Long travel. Then you got to compete. And I think
they were saying that all those all those travel games,
they lost, all of those games they did.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
I think US C N U C L A. And here's
the thing is, years ago, I've been in sales training meetings.
You know, you draw excuse, you fly to Florida, and
then they'll say, okay, tomorrow, we're gonna start at eight
o'clock and you're like, wait a minute, that's five o'clock
my time. And that's what the problem is. The travel
is tough, but then it's getting adjustment to those times
and you're just and and you you think USC is

(29:42):
probably flying in Thursday, Friday, and then they got to
be ready Saturday. That's just a lot I don't know
how professional athletes do it.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Yeah, well you know, I mean I see that's see again,
this is why you get paid those big bucks, you know,
because again you have the trainers.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
There, especially when they go to Europe.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
I didn't say that's that's that's crazy, you know. And
they're trying to do that a lot more now they're
going to Brazil. I mean it's just banana. That travel
is really really tough. So uh but yeah, but so
again coach being E. Turner, we're still talking about this.
We're gonna, you know, we have some opinions about about
I don't know what you I don't know what your
thoughts are, coach, but what's what's gonna what's a a

(30:16):
way we could resolve this situation in terms of these counter.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Pac twelve back and uh, you know, just make everything regional.
But that that that ship has sailed it, that's.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
Too much money, too much money out there now.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
So again yeah, so again, so right now we are
waiting for our special guests. Again, we're gonna have none
other than our guy, coach Matt. And I tell Coach
Matt all the time, said, man, I'm not gonna call
you by your last name man, I don't want to
mess with the last name up. But again, Coach Matt
really exciting stuff. We're gonna talk to him about some
of some of the breaking news. He has a brand

(30:52):
new gig right here in the great City of Corona,
so we'll talk to him a little bit about that.
But again we're gonna take a quick break and then
when we come back, I believe I think we'll be
having I think Coach Matt will be making his way
up here fairly shortly.

Speaker 5 (31:06):
But again, if we have.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Time, I want to talk about this NFL on Fox.
I know we're going to break. Oh yeah, the predictions
came out. They had the Cowboys at ten and seven. Dakota,
is he going to be Okay? We can talk about
we're talking about you see, I'm about to get the
motion already.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
You see my left was quivering right there. So yeah,
let's let's talk about that on the break again. You
are listening to Coach being Eternal. I am your host Eternal.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
And I am your host Coach be on Fox Sports
Radio Herd in Southern California, Fox Sports AM thirteen fifty

This is Alexander Madison.

Speaker 7 (31:51):

Speaker 9 (32:37):
Is it true you only church sixty eight dollars to
clear a dream?

Speaker 5 (32:39):
Yes, ma'am?

Speaker 2 (32:40):
What about my kitchen sink sixty eight dollars? What about
a toilet sixty eight dollars?

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Am?

Speaker 5 (32:45):
My main drain at sixty eight dollars?

Speaker 2 (32:48):
What if I call you on a Sunday Sunday Sunday,
that's also sixty eight dollars.

Speaker 8 (32:54):
As a matter of fact, we'll want to scope down
the line to make sure that drain's nice and clean.

Speaker 10 (32:57):
With our pricing and level of service, there's only one
option Option one plumbing. And remember, if you don't call us,
you'll pay too much.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
This is Coach Being Internal on Fox Sports Radio heard
in Southern California, Fox Sports and thirteen fifty. I am
your host, Coach.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Being, and I am your host eternal right here live
in the Great City Riverside, recorded live at the iHeartRadio Studios. Now,
Coach be already got my blood pressed for already up
man talking about my boys. Uh, you know, it's been
tough for us. All I can say is.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
That that's that's my mood right now.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
We're angry. You know, Jerry Jones kind of messed everything up?

Speaker 2 (33:45):
But did he? But did he? You know, you take
a team he paid what a couple of million for
most Are they still the most valuable team?

Speaker 3 (33:51):
In me?

Speaker 5 (33:52):
That's that's up for debate, man.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
But because you know, when you think about how are
the Golden Saint Warriors values? So it is what it is.
But I digress, But go back. I'm sorry you felt
about Jerry.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Well, you know, like I said, Jerry, you know he
made some moves. We have a brand new coach coming in.
Who did they get we have?

Speaker 5 (34:09):
His name is uh, oh goodness.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Coach oh goodness, but I pulled.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
My point was that, you know, brand new coach. He's
going to have a brand new philosophy. We just got
rid of, uh, you know, Bryan shot, shot shot, Marty shot.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Nepotism and you think about that the Nuggets. So it's
the second generation and the same with Carl from the Sonics.
His son is coaching.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Yeah, George Carl, yes, yes, So well what is kind
of go through it? We start we start off the
season with the Philadelphia Eagles. They're saying we're gonna lose them.
I'm not saying that. I think we're gonna beat him good.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
But why are people so upset by saying he wants
to retire. I mean they said, oh, they'll screw up
his employer. I mean was traded. I know, so it's
okay for the team to do it. I know it's crazy,
but I digress. But believe me, no, that's that's another
big story as well. But nonetheless, so they're saying that,
you know, we're gonna take that l right there, they say,
we be Do you think that's an l I don't think,

(35:18):
because I think it's it's gonna be a Super Bowl
hangovers and the Cowboys gonna be that'ld be ring night.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
It's gonna be ring nights. You know, you know we
want some of that right there. So uh and then
they're saying we.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Lose to excuse me, we we we we're talking about
this is the NFL on Fox. This is what we're
what we have here is on the Instagram.

Speaker 5 (35:35):
Yes, indeed, so I had to do it. Like you said,
who's that? Who? That was that at l who we
have after the Giants? I can't see that.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Let me, let me let me over to you. Let
me let me get a look at it right now.
We'll see where I'm This is breaking news.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
We're breaking news again. We're talking about the this is
the prediction.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
So you're talking about you're talking about the egos. You
were talking about the week three? Is that that should
be the Bears? Okay, okay, we're gonna bust the Bears.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
The Bears.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yeah, we're gonna We're gonna whoop on them, John, I
mean the Green Bay Packers. That's they're supposed to be
a good team. But they're saying we're gonna beat them.
The Jets, we beat.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Them, My second cousin, Keishawn Nixon.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
Yes, okay, and.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Then uh, and then they're gonna they're saying we're gonna
knock off the Carolina Panthers. And then they're saying we
lose to the Jade and Daniels led Washington Commanders.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
I think people are gonna I think that. You know,
it takes about two years with these coaches have an
entire off season to pick apart his game. So this
is gonna be a big year for Jams.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Manj got hurt and he had a lot of receivers hurts.
So it's kind of hard because they know to t
off on him. Yeah, you know there's that too. There's
that too, So you know you have to look at that.
They're saying we love to Denver. I'm like, come on,
we're not losing the Denver. But they're saying with bow Knicks,
come on, we don't come in bow on radio.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Yes it's not the podcast, you see.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
I'm about to get emotions.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
To make sure they say we they say we win
and we beat the Cardinals again, we're talking about our
Dallas Cowboys, America's coboy and I'll.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Tell you that that QB at at Arizona, the way
he ran all over the Chargers. If you don't have
a d N and that boy, it's gonna be a problem.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
He's good.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
He's good, no doubt about it. And then we have
the Raiders. They say, we bust up the Raiders. Who
is Pete cat?

Speaker 5 (37:19):
Right? Everybody gonna take turns on.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
The scripts against UNLV right now, it might be a
good game.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
They say, we again, they say, we lose twice, So
we lose again. We see Philadelphia again, We lose against
pat Patty mahomes. Uh and then we lose, okay, lose
of Detroit. We lose the Minnesota they're saying, but then
we we we actually win and they have a.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Rookie quarterback who's injured and hadn't even played.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Yeah, no, imagine that right there. They said we beat
the Chargers, beat the Washington Yeah, beat the Charges.

Speaker 6 (37:51):
Good.

Speaker 5 (37:51):
And we said they said it's a homer away. You know,
that's a good question.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
The Chargers. It looks like it's like they're gonna be home.
That's gonna be a home game. Yeah, I can see
that home.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
Game like that. Man.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
So, uh this is a big year for the Chargers as.

Speaker 5 (38:07):
Well, it is.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
Uh so this is a big gear for the chargers.
So hopefully those chargers will step up and get it rolling.
Breaking news. I think we have a special guest. Yeah, studio.
So we're gonna stop all the programming. We're gonna just
cancel everything. We have so much the brand. Look at

(38:28):
it quick.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
Put the headphones on. Man, just got everything everything.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
I walk in the refrigerator to get the kool Aid.
Get you somebody, You are welcome here.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
You know, breaking dudes, right, Okay, I I had to
put the had to put the breaking news on here.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
And so you know, coach went in an African American house,
schol When you say you can go get the kool
aid refrigerator, that's a big that's a I just want
you to know that.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
So Coach, please do it the courtesy of introduce yourself
to our live rady audience.

Speaker 9 (38:57):
Please, man, I mean so, I'm so excited to be
act with you guys. But my name is Matti Mumban.
I am the head coach at Corona Centennial High School.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
Coach you always always you guys.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
Yes, man, we were just reminiscing about you know you
uh you coached the one of our first uh uh
the Galing when we were trying to get the riverside
versus Samaradino game kicked off you and coach right, uh,
you know led the girls great game too. That was
one of the that was was a fun game right there.

(39:34):
But again, man, you did your time, got your bones
over there over at at Ontario Christian and then you know,
I did a couple a year over at u C,
a year one year over you see, and then and
then you just broke the internet. Man, I mean, I mean,
you know, my my phone was ringing everybody like, do
you see what's going on?

Speaker 5 (39:53):
I'm like, wait a minute.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Uh, but now you're the brand new coach over at
Corona Centennial. This talk number want to talk about the
excitement how you feel again obviously a big, big, huge opportunity,
but talk about how to feel for you personally.

Speaker 9 (40:08):
I'm just I'm super excited to be a part of
a school and an organization that really prioritizes winning and
success in all athletics. Their history alone proves itself and
pretty much every sport. So when I got their opportunity
to apply for the job and just meet the amazing people,

(40:29):
I was, I was so honored to be a part
of that and I'm just ready to build.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
Man.

Speaker 9 (40:34):
I've done it before, I'm gonna do it again, and
I'm gonna make it ten times bigger.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
Wow, Man, this exciting stuff again. Was talking to coach
Matt couch By.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
Now, Coach, you know, I think they have a football
team over there. That's okay. You know they have a
basketball point guard. You where do you end up going?

Speaker 3 (40:51):
I think something like the seventy sixty or something like that.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
So we're talking about a team that a school that
has a tradition of winning. Tell us how did that
happen and how did it come apart?

Speaker 5 (40:59):
Come come?

Speaker 2 (41:00):
I mean when you came there, she had to show
them your creditionals and what you've done, and I mean,
how did that all work for you? Coach?

Speaker 9 (41:06):
So I finished off my season at U c A
and the opportunity presented itself. The job opened up, and
I just applied and I went through the interview process
like everybody else, and I believe there was ten plus applicants,
and then I was able to have a few interviews,
had a panel interview with the administration, and so it

(41:28):
was like five or six people in the room just
kind of hounding you with a bunch of questions, right,
that part's always fun. And I came back for a
second one and that was more kind of one on one.

Speaker 5 (41:39):
And that's what the ad over there. Correct. Yeah, he
had a good guy, we know him.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
What his name again, Tony, Yes, and the principal as well, yes.

Speaker 4 (41:50):
Yeah, Henry Romero. Yeah, great, great guys, guys.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (41:54):
So I was able to talk with them and they
kind of shared their vision with me and where they
want girls basketball to go back to because it once
was a powerhouse.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
Yes, no questions in Joanes, no question, yes, yes, just
some some.

Speaker 4 (42:08):
Great hoopers over there.

Speaker 9 (42:09):
So the goal is to bring the powerhouse back to
Centennial and they have they have resources that are going
to getus to do that.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
No Logan say, hey, if you coming, you gotta win
the state. Yeahs all you got some exciting talent coming
with you and talk to us about your roster, which
is which excited.

Speaker 9 (42:29):
Yeah, so I'm super excited they have I believe she's
number thirty, thirty six or thirty seven in the class
of twenty twenty six, six five, big, just dominant, So
she'll be there, she'll be download for us.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
And just talking about Carter Cindy Cindy Bryant sister. Yeah,
I'm saying Carter Carter's sister. I was trying to say, yeah,
but Sidney Bryant, Yes.

Speaker 9 (42:53):
Yes, so she'll be uh, she'll be down download for us.
And then I got a couple of transfers that came
in Sidney Douglas.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
She probably has.

Speaker 9 (43:02):
About a million offers right number two in her class.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
Real quick talk about that because obviously, you know, she
came from your over there, where you were, where you
were formerly. Uh she I mean coming off of a
crazy season. I mean, you know, one of the top
teams in the nation, and now she'll be over there.
I talk about how special that was for you having
somebody like that come over.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
It was real special.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
You know.

Speaker 9 (43:28):
I spent a lot of years and a lot of
time building relationships with the girls and with families the
ones over out on Terror Christian just throughout the last
five six years. And you know, when I when we
decided to go separate ways, a lot of the families
were disappointed.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
So it was kind of a waiting.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
Game, and the radio hosts were disappointed.

Speaker 9 (43:55):
Yep, me too, but yeah, a lot of the families
were kind of just playing the waiting game to see
where I was gonna land.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
And then so there a lot of them are coming over.

Speaker 5 (44:03):
Man, that's good. That's good stuff. Man, I mean work.
I was about to say, again, a great coach.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
Obviously, you know you're you spend a lot of time
in the travel game. Uh, so you know you're familiar
with a lot of these players over there. Obviously you
know you you were you you saw a special k
when you you were you were telling her, You're like, hey, man,
look this girl. You're even telling when she was coming
to the school. You're like, man, I got something special. Yeah,
and so and that was good. But you were so

(44:29):
you were mentioned, so you have obviously have miss Doug
was coming in. Who else do you have coming over?

Speaker 9 (44:32):
There's another really good guard. She coming into her freshman year.
She was ranking number nine in California.

Speaker 5 (44:37):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
But it's just.

Speaker 9 (44:40):
Uh, she can get the opportunities that she wanted. But
I'm super excited to really showcase that this year and
really show what what was missing out.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
So Julie Mixed will be one of our guards.

Speaker 5 (44:50):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (44:50):
Year, She's she's special.

Speaker 10 (44:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
So I mean look, I mean, wow, let me tell
you something.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
Basketball season cannot come quick enough because already you know
coach stand you know who you obviously you know well
uh uh, you know, it was great to see last
year because again Edwanda is always a powerhouse and generally speaking.

Speaker 5 (45:11):
Of Edwanda, just you know, it was kind of just
knock off everybody.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
But last year that was their first game. Last year
Corona's Centenia's first game was so yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
Know, I know what I'm just saying, like, so last
year was just great I mean for me, I mean honestly,
you know, and again no no shot at the boys
because the boys played this really great stuff. I mean,
you know I was watching you know, Roosevelt. Roosevelt did
the thing last year. But the girls games last year
was just so competitive, man, I mean you know, those
those ed Rwanda Ontario games were just really really competitive,

(45:45):
you know, and then then you had you had Rancho
Christian who us out there. Obviously you had coach right
with me in a valley. So next year's gonna be
you know, and let me ask you this because and
I know Coach b has another question, but real quick,
I mean, how do you how do you envision I
know it's early, but how do you envision you got
you got two really dominant post players. Now, how do

(46:06):
you how do you envision having both of them on
the floor.

Speaker 9 (46:08):
They're both extremely versatile. Both can play with their backs
to the basket. They can dominate the paint. But what's
special about them is they can step out and hit
the three, So I can utilize them in a lot
of different ways.

Speaker 4 (46:22):
They're gonna be the Twin Towers. Download.

Speaker 9 (46:24):
I don't even know if there's another team in the
country that will have six seven, six' five down load like.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
That, wow that's like. That it's traditional. Basketball but but
here's the. Thing are they running on the on a
fast break to the three point line or they trying
to get to The that's the scary.

Speaker 4 (46:40):
Part they can they can run the Big.

Speaker 5 (46:41):
Yeah they can't do. That that's new.

Speaker 9 (46:43):
Basketball, yeah that is new. Basketball but they. Can they
can definitely uh dominate in the paint. Too so it's
gonna be it's gonna be fun to see them work
together really really showcase their their.

Speaker 2 (46:52):
Talents, NOW i want to know when you dropped the,
schedule because last year when you look at at At
Corona centino women's, basketball you guys Played. Edawanda you Played
harv West, lake they Play Modern. Day are you gonna
play that juggernaut schedule.

Speaker 4 (47:04):
Agains i'm always, oh.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
He said, yeah BEFORE i got the question.

Speaker 9 (47:08):
Out i'm a firm believer in kind of getting battle
tested early just to prepare for the. Playoffs SO i
don't mind the bumps and bruises along the way as
long as we're learning and. Growing but the goal is
to get back to a national. Schedule we've gotten invited
out to a few, tournaments some In, atlanta another In New,
jersey and then The NIKE, tc So i'm excited to

(47:31):
see where it all pans. Out but, yeah we're for
sure gonna go go after the big.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
Ones and that's one THING i ask, you is not
the beauty of. Basketball in, football a lot of teams
run from big. Games but in, basketball you, know it
doesn't matter that you guys Play football is like like.
Boxing basketball is like like Usc you have to play
the best and that's what they do in, basketball and
that's the beauty of the game of. BASKETBALL i love.

Speaker 9 (47:54):
IT i LOVE i love it when when teams just
don't care and they're and willing to yes row and get,
better and sometimes you got to go through the muck
to get.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
Better SO i love that. Part we're not ducking any.

Speaker 5 (48:06):
Smoke, OH i like. THAT i like, that.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
MAN i mean you go To, centennial you know.

Speaker 5 (48:13):
That that's that's part of the part of the Mean.

Speaker 3 (48:15):
Again it's funny Because coach be AND i we had
like a little small debate when coach When Coach logan
was really starting to train really turn his program, around
And coach be AND i we were you watch the
national program Be. Born, yeah BECAUSE i, said, hey, man
they're gonna go pay modern. Day Coach bele was, like,
man they're gonna get BE i don't know about. THAT i,
said but, look that's that's the only way you're gonna
get out there and get.

Speaker 5 (48:34):
Better and you see what they've done, NOW i, Mean Coach.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
Man, LOGAN i APOLOGIZE i was.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
WRONG i told, HIM i, Said, man but, no but
again we're right here again live in studio with Coach
matt Against.

Speaker 5 (48:46):
Man.

Speaker 3 (48:46):
Now one of the, things what's which is there anything
that About? Centennial AND i know it's still early for,
you but is there anything that surprised you about the,
school maybe that you weren't aware of before you got
to the cam have.

Speaker 11 (49:00):
This it's it's like a private, school like just the
types of classes and the types of things that they
offer and the way that they just handle themselves on
a regular.

Speaker 9 (49:12):
Basis, YEAH i came from a private. SCHOOL i came
from two back to back PRIVATE i saw how it,
was and then going on the public, SIDE i, thought
this is gonna be. Different they might not care as.
Much might just they got thirty five hundred kids to worry,
about so they might not have that relationship that the
smaller schools. Have WHEN i walked, in it was it,
was if not better than WHAT i was used to.

(49:34):
Seeing but it's the way they treat their their student,
athletes the way they prioritize. Winning it's just, wow, yeah
a very fun. Environment so NOW i like to SAY
i got the private school experience AND i don't got
to do with.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
Tuition yeah, right coach at the Bar High oh, yeah but,
no that tuition situation is always.

Speaker 5 (49:54):
Crazy it's always.

Speaker 3 (49:56):
Crazy, Now, now you one of the things, that like you,
said you already you Have Ms bryan over there. Already
is there some other some other talent that's over there
there currently right now that you're you're looking forward to
working as.

Speaker 9 (50:09):
Well, yeah there's some young pieces that that were freshman
and sophomores last year That i've been in the gym
with recently That i'm just excited to work. With, yeah
and they're gonna be up and, coming and they're excited
to be to be pushed and be a part of
a program that's that's gonna get them to new.

Speaker 5 (50:23):
Heights, MAN i mean exciting.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
STUFF i, Mean i'm telling you it was there was
two things that broke the.

Speaker 5 (50:29):
Internet you.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
Know number one obviously was you and you got the
job over There, Centennial and then obviously When Miss, douglass,
who like you, said who's everybody is just trying to
figure out where she gonna. GO i, Mean i'm you,
know the videos are just blowing, up blowing up. Crazy but,
again you you've got a chance to see her grow.
Up when, you when you see her, game talk about

(50:50):
what's special about, her man, like when you just about
what she.

Speaker 9 (50:53):
Does she's she's six, seven she's Still the crazy part
about her is she is barely scratching the surface of
who she can truly. Be we like to her parents
AND i like to talk a lot and talk about
how she's kind of.

Speaker 4 (51:08):
Like a like a baby.

Speaker 9 (51:10):
Giraffe she's just so long and so, athletic but still
trying to figure out her body how to utilize her.

Speaker 4 (51:17):
Size. Yeah and she just possesses.

Speaker 9 (51:20):
So much, Skills like she has a skill set of a.
Guard she can drible up the, court she can shoot the,
three she can pop out to the wing and take
you to the.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
Rim so she's just a matchup. Nightmare.

Speaker 5 (51:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (51:29):
Yeah and the fact that she is.

Speaker 9 (51:31):
Where she is right now being you know, where she's
ranked in the top twenty.

Speaker 5 (51:36):
Five in her class only it's going to be a, sophomore, correct.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
Sophomore.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
Wow AND i think she probably conditions with her, Brother.

Speaker 4 (51:41):
Oh, YEAH i mean her whole.

Speaker 9 (51:43):
Family they're a sports, family so everything is competitive with
them going at each other. NonStop she's, Special she's going
to BE i think by the time she's a junior or.
SENIOR i THINK i think she'll be one of the
best in the.

Speaker 10 (51:56):
World.

Speaker 4 (51:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Wow and she wants to make her announcement she can ye, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (52:02):
Yeah guarantee.

Speaker 3 (52:03):
No and again we're right here talking to Coach matt brand,
new head girls basketball, coach right here live in the
Great city Of, riverside coach. Again, man we're excited now
now obviously what you got what's coming up, Next like
you Got Summer league and talk everybody about the, preparations
what you got got going on right.

Speaker 5 (52:20):
Now so in the land of The, huskies.

Speaker 9 (52:22):
Yep SO i got there a little bit later THEN
i wanted. To but that's just the interview, process and
then the job opened up kind of, late SO i
wasn't able to really prep our, summer get to section
seven and do all those. Things So i'm okay with
that because we're going to spend the whole summer just
really building a. Foundation we'll go five days a Week

(52:43):
monday Through, friday and we'll go about two hours in the,
gym and then we'll Go mondays And wednesdays in the weight,
room and Then tuesdays And thursdays will be on the
track just getting conditions speaking jillity.

Speaker 4 (52:53):
Stuff.

Speaker 9 (52:54):
Yeah so it's gonna be a summer that's really built
on development and really built on just LIKE i, said
building a foundation of how we want to look moving.
Forward and then we'll go After june it will be
we're getting a brand new.

Speaker 3 (53:08):
Floor oh, wow, okay, okay that's. Nice, yeah brand new
husky in the middle of the.

Speaker 9 (53:12):
Floor, yeah so our Our july schedule will be kind
of tough because they're they're rebuilding that part of the.
Gym But i'll Be i'll be out of town anyways
for my club. Stuff so, yeah and then we'll come
back and we'll hit a really good fall. SCHEDULE i
want to play about like twenty twenty five games in
the fall just to get us right for the, season
and then, uh we'll hit into our, season ready to

(53:33):
ready to punch.

Speaker 2 (53:34):
Fantastic and you, know, coach we watched you when when
you when you were In, ontario and we watched you.

Speaker 5 (53:39):
Build and and and and and.

Speaker 2 (53:41):
You, know you talked about. It you had lofty goals
and you and you exceeded. Them what is it about
the building process that excites? You and you go somewhere
and you could put your stamp on. IT a lot
of people really.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
Don't like to.

Speaker 9 (53:52):
Build they don't really like to like a LOT i
know a lot of coaches that want to just come
into a situation where it's kind of handed to them
and they're able to just kind of build from. There
but one of my favorite parts about coaching is just
creating an environment of love and success and building a
foundation and really just like my favorite thing about about

(54:15):
coaching the game is seeing where people start and where they,
finish and the fact THAT i had the ability to
put my stamp on it and be a part of
their journey is SOMETHING i truly. Enjoy so WHEN i
came to the program and there WERE i think two
returners That centennial and the lower levels you, know weren't

(54:38):
the way that they needed to. Be so going in
here and seeing, that it just excited me knowing THAT
i can, really you, know create an environment of people
wanting to be here and people wanting to, transfer or
people wanting to come in as freshmen and really be
part of something.

Speaker 4 (54:55):
Special so.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
Really happy for, you, Man just happy to be you
know You you're back in contention and one of the great. Things,
man that WHAT i WHAT i respect about. You, Man
when you were AT U C u C. A you
still had the same. Attitude you weren't you didn't have
your head, down you weren't, like hey, man you know
over here you see you, Know you're, like, hey Now
i'm about to make it work on get this program,
better you know WHAT i.

Speaker 5 (55:14):
Mean and so really happy for you.

Speaker 3 (55:17):
Man happy to have, you, uh you know, back you,
know you, know getting big time. Basketball so now you
know THESE i, mean you, know we thought we thought
these games last year we're gonna be.

Speaker 5 (55:25):
Bananas but Now.

Speaker 9 (55:27):
I'm circling my calendar For Crown centennial At Ontario christian.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
All, right shots, fire coaches standing up on. BUSINESSES i
love it are going to Be is it there or at?

Speaker 9 (55:41):
Home so the playoffs AND i hope it's.

Speaker 4 (55:44):
There, Yeah i'm excited for.

Speaker 5 (55:46):
That that would be, great you.

Speaker 3 (55:47):
Know and you, know it's funny because last year we
didn't even get to See Miss douglas really kind of
like do, everything you know WHAT i, mean you know
you YOU i, mean you, know and that's that's what's.
CRAZY i, mean because of. You you had to really
dom it players T. T obviously you have special k
over there who are just really really gifted, players and you,
know and it was hard for her to get, looks you,

(56:07):
know with those kinds of people out. There so now
you're gonna see a lot. More you're gonna see a
lot more of, her and obviously she's been, developing so
that's gonna be.

Speaker 5 (56:15):
Crazy.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
Man she's, hungry she's.

Speaker 9 (56:16):
Hungry she she's she had a little bit of a
she was a really great, season a really excited season
for her just coming into the high.

Speaker 4 (56:23):
School, yep.

Speaker 9 (56:24):
Realm but like you, said she wasn't she wasn't utilized
the way that she felt she could. Be and you,
know you're playing behind you're playing with some.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
Great, players the great right.

Speaker 9 (56:37):
So playing with them sometimes can you can kind of
get overshot a little?

Speaker 4 (56:40):
Bit no? Question, man she is just as, good no.
Question she's going to show it this.

Speaker 3 (56:45):
