Speaker 5 (01:26):

great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios. And again,
we are really really happy to be here with you
on this great sunny Saturday morning. Appreciate everybody tuning in.
Coach Be. How the weekend going So far, so far.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
So good.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I'm getting ready for the fiftieth birthday. Yes, the wife
and I are going to do some things today. But
I'm excited about that.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
It's I can't believe how fast fifty years came. So
it's good times.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Man. How about yourself?

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Oh yeah, everything's good man. Good and happy early birthday
because that's what that's coming up. That's what like.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
July first, yes, yes, July first, yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Man, So congratulations on that turn into big fifty.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yes, yes, indeed, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
I know. I know for me when I I turned
fifty last year, and I know for me it was
crazy because I didn't even think. You know, when you're young,
you think like, are you gonna live to fifty? Like
that sounded like a long ways away? Absolutely, and like
to your point, it comes quickly. So word to the wise, man,
enjoy yourself while you can, because let me tell you something,
life is short, no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
It is true, indeed true indeed. So we're excited about that.
So we're gonna do a couple of things, so it
should be all good, man. So yeah, we're excited.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's good times. Man, another another good day here in
the Inland Empire. Got some breaking news as we do.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Man, A lot of good stuff happening right here. Man,
so excuse me, uh, really happy stuff. Man. I got
a chance. One of the things that happened it was
the NBA Draft was what was that that was with Friday?
And no, that was Thursday. Excuse me, I take that back.
Friday they had I think that was like the second
in third rounds yesterday. But Thursday NBA Draft was out

(03:04):
and we talked about this a little bit of folks
are following our social media at I E sports Net.
We spoke about this young man and another centennial player.
We've had two excuse me, we've had two players part
of me and who have gotten drafted. And we were
talking about this young man, Riverside native went as a
ten yearl high school graduate. I've seen this young man

(03:27):
play at the park over at on in Doka Park
here in Riverside, Bobby Bonds here in Riverside, and again
big shout out to my man, Coach Hooks really, you know,
introduced me to this kid when he was in ninth grade.
But one of the breaking news that we have to
really really were really excited about is it Carter Bryant again,
Riverside native, Corona High grads one and done, went to

(03:47):
Arizona for one year and was projected to be a
lottery pick, but actually went somewhere even better, got drafted
to the San Antonio Spurs. So that was really really
great stuff right there.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah, you gotta love I guess the San Antonio Spurs
love the Inland inst So that is the second player
that they've come and got out of that I know
of that they've come and got.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Out of the I E.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
Yeah, no doubt about it. In that that player that
you mentioned is funny because when Carter was asked to
kind of describe, you know, his game and how he feels,
what he's gonna be able to add, he he mentioned
Kawhi h. He really spoke high about Kawahi. You know,
you know, you know how how we Inland folks feel
about Kawhi. He was just talking about he's one of
the you know, his career, over course of his career,
was one of the better players in the NBA, more

(04:27):
so on the defensive end, and then kind of evolved
into an offensive player. So that's kind of what Carter
Brian talked about. So again, great kid. Another portion of the
funny portion that's not really a funny portion of the story,
but the interesting portion of the story is his grandfather.
This is a gentleman that I used to play basketball with,
you know, in the parks here, Bryant Park, Nicholas Park,
you know, all the way you know we used basketball

(04:48):
is really you know, big time games back in the day.
And his grandfather was, i mean talented, part of the
Riverside Death School Uh. He actually went on to do
some really great things. The USA death BA Basketball Hall
of Fame. His grandfather was selected and too. So again
he Carter, He being Carter Brian has a lot of
roots here in Riverside, and again it's really special to
see him get drafted going to the San Antonio Spurs.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Yeah, and you look at his history, it looks like
his dad played at Long Beach State.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
So that's a family of basketball.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Oh yeah, man, so his dad is a great high
school basketball coach right now, and again, we were just
really happy to see that Carter again going to the
uh going to the San Antonio Spurs. And that's the
second year, Coach b that the Corona Centennial Huskies have
a first round pick. Other you know when they had
that was Jared McCain who we had over at our

(05:39):
award ceremony over at Morongo, Jared McCain last year before last.
And then they said, that's the only time that's happened,
and coach, I'll let you take that because that's in
your area right there. What's that comping, Demeanaz Oh, yes,
I remember, you know back in the day when they
had Tyson Chandler and Kayshawn Prince that was back in it.
You know, I know you're familiar with that air.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Yes, I remember my brother years ago because one of
the coach that was there years ago, he you know,
he knew my Yeah, my brother's really connected out there,
so I knew he knew a lot of them. But
you know the one thing when you had to pick
up on the Carter Brian thing. Again, I saw a
great video on him. He knows sign language. Yes, I
know he's his parents are grandparents, that are.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
His his grandfather that is uh, that is uh. He's
death and again he as Michael doc Torres and so
his mother I believe is and again I don't I
don't know, but I know his mother maybe maybe partially death.
I'm not I don't quote me on that, but I
know that's that's on his mother's side. His grandfather is death.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yes, yeah, he's a they call him a GODA, which
is a grandchild of a death adult. His his parents
are a CODA, a child of death Americans. But it
was because it was a go that university. I don't
don't quote me on that, but I know because I
saw him and he was in the pregame draft and
they were talking to him and I was like, wait
a minute, he's not wearing Arizona stuff. But that university
is a university for death and hard hearing people. So

(07:01):
he's really really involved with the with the with the
that community. So congratulations to him. But like you were
saying about about Dominguez, Tyson Chandler and Tayshawn Prince.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
That was that was the hay right there. I mean,
those guys, I mean Tayshawn Prince. I believe he was
at Yukon. If I'm not mistaken, he went to Yukon
because I think Tyson Chandler was. He went from high
school to the pros. I'm not mistaken. But Tayshawn Prince
always was one of my favorite players. Really liked his game,
and I remember seeing the highlights of him and Tyson

(07:35):
Chandler when they're playing that comp to Dominga. I mean,
it just wasn't fair with those two guys on the court.
It was just really really crazy, So it was great
to see.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, they I mean they came around and they really
did some good things. When you think about it, Tayshawn
Prince would a player. He went to went and beat
the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
He's six nine. I mean, he was a wing.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
I know Kobe talked a lot about Tracy McGrady and
how he guarded him, but Tyson Chandler doesn't get the
let me tell you that he deserves when he was
when he was guardian.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Well, no, no, no, no, you mean Prince.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
I'm sorry. Tyon Shannel was the center.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
He was the center, but he was he was really
good too. And to say, you know, I know he
really his pro career, he had injuries, but he was
a he was a journeyman. He played for a lot
of seasons. I mean, I can't at least ten plus
seasons I think Tyson played. So I know he's played
some really really great basketball. And I know that again,
he was one of those guys came out early and
he was like a prodigy, really really early. So it
was great to see that those two guys. But again

(08:28):
we're talking about Carter Bryant, who was selected went fourteenth
in the NBA Draft to the San Antonio Spurs. One
of the other things we had we got coming up,
Coach b and this is this is close to home
because we know this kid. If I'm not mistaken, I
think he played in our All Star Game. But right
there we were looking at the last pick. I don't
know if you want to pick that up right there,

(08:48):
the final pick of the NBA draft of Ediwanda High School.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Atlum coach b Yes, I'm looking through my notes that
mal Mayshak. Yes, you know, we have to look it
up because I've believe he's he's related to the kid.
Was that was our media day years ago? No, that's him, yes, no,
no argument.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
The football football. Yes, he was a part of our
football sign day.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
That's how we got introduced to his mother. Yes. Yeah,
And then his mother started following us and she said, hey,
my son is really good in basketball. It's not something
that's really crazy. It's crazy right there. So he was
a I believe he picked up a fifth year over
at Tennessee. He was actually scheduled to go back to
Tennessee this year, but it was really great to see
that he got picked up. He was the final pick

(09:33):
of the NBA draft. So, like they always say, it
doesn't matter where you get picked, it just matter if
you get picked. So he got picked up by the
Memphis Grizzlies. And again he played collegiately over at Tennessee,
and as we mentioned, he's a great elite perimeter perimeter
defender and again an Edelwanda High School alum.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
And the interesting thing about that is when you have
these you know he was born in two thousand and two,
so I wonder, I'm sure my son knows him.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Oh yeah, down about it because he was a star
a Edawanda. Yeah, yeah, So he was out there. He
was a star, and I followed his career when he
was at Tennessee. He was one of those guys he
got there and just really built up his his profile
and in his latter years there he was definitely one
of the standout players there.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
It's interesting to see that now with the world of
NIL that he actually went in because I can't even
think of Don don he went to UCLA.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
His name escapes me.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
And I just heard him on AM five seventy donal Klaim. Yes,
And he was just talking about this the other day
on AM five seventy when he was saying that they
had kids that now with the advent of the NIL
stayed in college, it.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Almost makes sense for you to go back.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
So so like with GCU Tyan Grant Foster, he just
trans this is going to be his fourth college and
he my daughter is twenty five. I think Tyan's going
to be twenty six. I know he had hard issues
and he sat out like two years. Yeah I remember
that yet, but I think he's.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Going to be twenty six and he just transferred to Gonzaga.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
So I'm there is a lot, and it's got to
be that NIL component because and which is great because
kids are able to stay. And they say, this is
why the NFL has that advantage. Because of the NFL,
you have to do three years in college. And now
that the NIL is kind of keeping those kids longer
in school, you can see now that you're getting a

(11:20):
better developed.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
No question, no question about it. And you know, to
your overall point, a lot of times in college now,
the kids that come out of high school, unless you're
an elite player, you have to wait around because they
got kids that are in there twenty one, twenty two
who are taking that space right now because of just
what you mentioned, the NIL component.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
So it's like free agency every year. It's that you
have to continuously recruit your players. They can go off
and do what they need to do, which is good.
That's what you want because if you're working a job,
and this is I understand that they're student athletes, but
if you're working a job and you're not happy there,
you're going to leave. And those students, the coaches can
leave any time you want. So the players should be
able to leave as such where they can go. And

(11:57):
that's one of the things they were talking about, like
those SEC football teams, because they would stack their rosters
and kids had to sit there three years.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
You don't have that anymore.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
That's why you see a lot of those powers not
what they were anymore.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
No doubt about it. And against Fox Sports Radio right
here live coach being eternal Fox Sports Radio. You can
hear this every Saturday morning. Now another kid, coach b
This is a gentleman that we know well. He's been
to our studio a few times actually, and you know
I saw him again. He's a riverside Poliolon did some

(12:30):
great things. Took San Diego State just really really took
them to another level. Reminds me of Chris Paul. I mean,
when you see him, we see the way he plays,
it's just like Chris Paul when he was in college.
It really just reminds me of him. Again, really happy
for this young man. But then he ended up transferring
that final year of college and we'll talking about none

(12:51):
other than mister LaMonte Butler, and again big shout out
to Lamont Butler and his family. But he got a
two way contract to the Atlanta Hawk, So we're really
excited about that. Again, couldn't happen to a better kid.
And we're really seeing him really grow up over at
San Diego State and then he'll ended up transferring to Kentucky.
Played some really good, big time basketball for them last year.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
And the good thing about that is is it's funny
because I just saw Jordan McLoughlin's wife had just posted
something about her her husband being a basketball player and
this and that. It just went viral on social media,
and it's funny. He started off as a two way player,
and I remember when I was still doing the Clippers games,
I remember seeing him when he was a two way

(13:34):
player and you can see he was just still grinding.
So it's it's good to see these kids as they
as they progress on. So I'm happy to see uh
see him get that that that contract. Like you said
he was at he was at San Diego State, went
on to and he went on to what do you
call that? Kentucky? And then he did his thing. So

(13:55):
I'm excited about that.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
Yeah, that's good stuff right there, so mess so so again,
really have good up right there again as Fox Sports Radio,

My name is larr Bte fantastic, young lady. Thank you
so much for coming in studio. We appreciate you. I mean,
we've seen you on TV all kinds of stuff. But
talk to us a little bit about it. You again,
you're coming off a really, really successful season, but talk
to our audience a little bit about your background, kind
of how you got to where you are.

Speaker 10 (18:56):
I grew up playing in the Riverside.

Speaker 9 (18:58):
Of course, I played at Orange Crest, I went to
Jadaw North High School, played for Corona Angels. I went
on to play two years at the University of Tennessee.

Speaker 10 (19:06):
I transferred to Houston.

Speaker 9 (19:08):
For a year and then finished my last collegiate career
at the University of Mississippi.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Wow, that's really impressive stuff right there. Now. Now again,
you this particular year, I mean, you had some exciting
seasons with softball that we've got a chance to follow again.
We're always applauding your success, but talk about this year
was really special, But talk about this year in particular.
How was it for you? And this year specifically with
Old miss It was.

Speaker 9 (19:35):
Just amazing just to go and make history, not just
a personal record, but a team record, a program record.
Just being able to finish things off with your team
at the highest level possible was the best thing that
I could ask for, especially with it being my last year.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Absolutely, And I'll ask you, this is coach b Fox
Sports AM thirteen fifty.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
What was the process of going Mississippi is a long way?
My entire family in Mississippi.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
What was the what was the reason for wanting to
go all the way back to Mississippi?

Speaker 10 (20:06):
This is an odd question, I mean answer, but it
felt like home.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Okay, it felt.

Speaker 10 (20:11):
Like Riverside away from Riverside.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
That's really interesting.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Like last time I was in Mississippi, Like my I
tell you, I probably got ninety cousins in Mississippi. I
was sixteen, and when I came home, I brought everything
with me, so I didn't forget anything. So I haven't
been back, but talk to me but what you had
a different experience than I. But talk to me a
little bit about it. What was it like to be there?

Speaker 4 (20:31):
How did you like it? I know they have good
tolfood down there, they do, yes, yeah.

Speaker 9 (20:37):
But it's very Yes, Riverside is very big and everybody
knows everybody.

Speaker 10 (20:41):
Y Oxford.

Speaker 9 (20:42):
It's so small, yes, to where you have no choice
but to know everybody right right.

Speaker 10 (20:46):
You walk around and it's like, oh hey lair, oh.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Right right, hey guys.

Speaker 10 (20:51):
You know you're not used.

Speaker 9 (20:53):
To it, but the the hospitality out there is just amazing.
Like a lot of people are like, oh no, down
South is bad, like yeah, but it was just I
felt like I was in Riverside all over again, and
I was just like, I love it. Like from the
drive to the airport, it felt like I was driving
to La So I'm.

Speaker 10 (21:07):
Just like, you know, I'm used to this. I could
do this. This is home away from home.

Speaker 5 (21:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Yeah, like I said, I haven't been there in thirty years.
Do they have electricity yet? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (21:18):
You got to excuse him kidding he turned right here
live on Fox Sports Radio. Now you've had I want
to talk about your high school Creb because again, like
you said, you went to Orange Vista, right want Orange.

Speaker 10 (21:30):
Crast I played for the community park.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
Okay, Scott, let me take it back. So so you
from up the street? Yeah, yeah, so you were you
are right around the corner.

Speaker 11 (21:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
But talk about your high school career and how you
were able to again go to a division one of college,
because obviously that's a huge accomplishment. Everybody doesn't get that,
but you did it right there. You know again your homeschool,
JW North, How special is that for you?

Speaker 10 (21:52):
It's a family tree. So my whole family went through.

Speaker 9 (21:54):
Of course I had to follow in their footsteps, and
it was just great to just go there and put
perfect my craft. It felt like everybody was so supportive,
especially like with my family being you know, they went
toda W. North and it was just I had the
motivation to go. It was just like, okay, I have
to do this now, like this is where I'm coming from.
I have to make new footsteps for people to follow.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
That's why she went to the Missisis I got to
get out of here.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
That's good stuff right there, because again, like you said,
you went to Tennessee, went to Houston. I mean, all
those are great, great programs. Now, out of all those programs,
I wanted to put you on the spot. But out
of all those programs, what would you say has been
your best experience? And why? Out of all three of
those programs, She's like, put you on the spot.

Speaker 10 (22:38):
Honestly, I have to say all three.

Speaker 9 (22:40):
I've learned so much from every last program that I've
been to. They have molded me into the young woman
that I am today, from the lessons learned to the
opportunities given.

Speaker 10 (22:51):
So I'd have to say all three.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Honestly, that's good stuff right there, Cosby and that had
to be diff difficult for you.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
You think about this.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
When you go to a school, you build relationships, you
get to know people, and that's one thing we don't
talk about when you do the transfer portal? What is
that like when you say I, I you know I
have to go on someone Else's that difficult for you?

Speaker 10 (23:08):
It's the hardest thing, especially when you build a bond with.

Speaker 9 (23:11):
Those girls and those are your sisters, So having to
put yourself first and make that decision like, Okay, this
is what's best for me and this is what I
need to do. You still have love for them, but
it's just like you have to put yourself.

Speaker 10 (23:23):
First in order to get to where.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
You want to go in Tennessee and old mister, both
SEC schools, right, yes, yeah, I know, I know you.

Speaker 10 (23:30):
I know you actually had to play them on my senior.

Speaker 9 (23:36):
It was amazing from the fan base from Tennessee. When
I got recognized, when they called my name for it
to be my turn on senior day, the whole fan
base like cheered for me. It didn't it feel like
I just transfer and you know I got bad mouth.
It was just all love and like you don't get
that from other programs.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Now, we got to ask you this because your mother
is always promoting you, always putting out the pictures of you.
I mean, she's like looking at my baby. But I
want to talk about that. How special is that to
have a mother to really supports you like that.

Speaker 10 (24:08):
Oh, it's great, and my mother that's my best friend.

Speaker 9 (24:12):
Honestly, it feels really good to have that parent support
no matter what, you know, some parents are always well.

Speaker 10 (24:18):
I can say I have not listened to my mom.

Speaker 9 (24:20):
Sometimes and I tell her after even that I don't
want admit it, like Mom.

Speaker 10 (24:24):
I wish I would have listened to it.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Right, Yes, yes, she is.

Speaker 9 (24:27):
My best friend, and just to know like I always
have her no matter what happens, if it's if I
make a bad decision, the right decision, the wrong decision,
She's always going to be able to support me. So
just knowing that she's always in my corner feels like
I have the world on my shoulders.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
That's excellent. That's excellent. You got good stuff right there. Well,
we appreciate that excellent stuff. Now, young lady, again, keep
up the good work. Now, do you have any words
of advice, because again, young ladies, now they're coming out
of high school, it's a it's a crazy climate out there,
and you you've been through it. You've seen it at
all multiple different levels, but always at the top level.

(25:04):
What kind of advice would you give the young ladies
who are in high school right now and you know,
who have that opportunity or looking to have that opportunity
to go to the next level. What was kind of
some of the advice you would give them.

Speaker 10 (25:14):
I'd say to keep practicing.

Speaker 9 (25:16):
When you get to the collegiate level, you're going to
be tired, but you have to keep practicing because when
you get there, there's people that are better than you,
not everybody. You're not always going to be the best
player when you get to college.

Speaker 10 (25:28):
So I'd say to keep working.

Speaker 9 (25:29):
And I like to tell myself my haters are my motivators,
So always like, who cares what people think? You know,
you're going to go to college and you're not even
going to probably talk to your friends that you have
now because you're going to make lifelong friends in college.

Speaker 10 (25:45):
So just keep going.

Speaker 9 (25:46):
Who cares about what people have to say? Who cares
about the doubters?

Speaker 4 (25:51):
You know?

Speaker 10 (25:52):
Let ayer no.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
Alabama child like, and you finished the degree?

Speaker 9 (26:02):
And then yes, I finished my degree in multidisfinarity Studies,
so I have psychology, sports wreck and nutrition.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
You weren't playing she was playing around because a lot
of people they don't actually get their degree, you know
what I mean. So again, congratulations for that. That is
a major major accomplishment. Went there, played at the high
level and then actually went out there and got your
your your degree as well, which is really special. I
know you're going to be hanging out somewhere today telling
good people, because I think you're going to be doing
a community of the today.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Is that correct?

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Let's let the folks know what's going on. So if
there's some young ladies out there that may want to
come meet you or something like that. The Boardwell Park,
there we go. There we go at one o'clock.

Speaker 10 (26:45):
For the softball for the community softball game.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
There we go.

Speaker 10 (26:48):
So if you guys would like to.

Speaker 9 (26:49):
Come out, come out, support, come have fun, and there
will be a lot of vendors there.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
Fantastic And this is mom correct, Yes.

Speaker 10 (27:03):
You know how much? Oh my gosh. Everybody's like, oh
your sister, yes, yes.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Looks like sisters.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Hey, mam, will take it right.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
They say black black women don't like men.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
We told we go through it. We go through this.
But again, thank you so much. Congratulating young lady. Keep
up to good work. Again, we've got a chance to
follow your career since you, uh you were at North.
I mean again, your mother has done a great job
of making sure that we stand loople what you got
going on. But again, much success to you. Where will
we see you next? Do you have any plans what
you got going on? I mean, okay, you're looking at
mim like we're gonna talk about any plans.

Speaker 10 (27:33):
I do have plans to go and be on a
coaching staff.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Wow.

Speaker 9 (27:39):
Congratulations in the process of talking to a couple of
schools right now.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
So you just don't like California.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
What you're saying, My goodness, that's got to be for mom.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
That's got to be hard.

Speaker 10 (27:51):
I can't backtrack. I can't backtrack the footsteps like me.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
Yes, going forward.

Speaker 10 (27:57):
I have to keep going.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
I have a have a twenty four year old and
I hate to hear it my sons.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
I said, you can leave it. My daughter needs to stay.

Speaker 10 (28:06):
Yeah, there's no I only come back to visit that.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
Good stuff well again hurt, hurt. Yeah, we appreciate you
coming to visit again. Best of luck to you, keep
up the good work. And again again if folks want
to come out there and hang out with this young lady,
she will be over at World Will Park, Is that
correct one o'clock one o'clock today, and say again for
the community softball game. So again be sho out to
my man Gary just doing that. Uh, keep up the

(28:28):
good work, young lady. Fantastic, great to have you in
studio again. Thanks moms, appreciate that connecting the dots on
this and again best of luck to you and if
you ever want to return and call us up and
you know, give it, you know, drop some words of
wisdom to these young ladies here in the Illine Empire.
Feel feel free.

Speaker 10 (28:43):
Okay, thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
There it is right there. Good stuff. Congratulation, young lady.
Keep up the good work. That is great stuff right there.
One more time, message, introduce yourself. I always mess your
name of your mom always looked at me crazy when
I say.

Speaker 10 (28:55):

appreciate you guys tuning in. We do have special guests
calling is on the celebrity hotline called up. You please
be kind enough to introduce yourself to our live radio audience.

Speaker 16 (34:33):
Well, I'm not going to introduce myself as Charles Hampson.
I'm gonna introduce a guy that relationship to a Hoart,
that one to Kentucky Dirty wowt the Hoja Gallery. One
of the all time jockey and if you used to
meet him, he looked like me thirty years ago. Beehi

(34:57):
Ja the Haja. There you go. We guys, talk to
the Ija. He's bringing the ponies out for the kids
to ride today and this is what he do. And
like I said, so I'm honder to talk to you guys,
but I think the fans need to listen to this
guy because he's black history right here.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
Okay, let's talk to him. Please.

Speaker 17 (35:18):
Good morning, everybody. My name is the Hockey. It's a
pleasure to meet everyone.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Fantastic, sir, Thank you so much for being on a
here with us on Fox Sports Radio. Again, we're really
happy about this rodeo there's going to be taking place
today and again, folks want to definitely come out. It's
going to open up at four o'clock over at the
Engles Center right there in norcoh But talk about your
history with ponies and kind of how this is how
the whole thing got started for you.

Speaker 17 (35:42):
Well, you know, if anybody knows my background, in almost
every interview I've ever done, I've always had it myself.
After Charlie. We come from the same horse stable, same neighborhood.
So me growing up, as they say, a young black
man in the hood, my idol was a bull rider,
not a guy to play basketball, not a football, playoff basket,
a baseball, a bull rider. And to know him in

(36:03):
person and personally knowing was a big jump for me. Wow,
you know how many kids you know grew up in
the hood and you wearing wringers and boots to school
and not Jordan's and Nike T shirts. But I knew
what it meant and a lot of the kids didn't,
but the parents actually knew what it meant. So it
was a big part of my life growing up. And
to actually be able to follow his footsteps and knowing

(36:24):
how he started riding the ponies and riding them in
the ouption. I did the same thing like him, and
I wanted to be he we so bad riding bulls.
I got tired of getting broke up, so I went
back to the racefors.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
And tell me a little bit about that. So that
is interesting, that is unique. How were you introduced because
I grew up as a kid. Tell I was thirteen,
I lived in Compton and I didn't see a lot
of bulls out there when we were so I know
there was in Rancho Dominions. They had the agricultural area,
they had some stuff over there. But how were you
introduced to this?

Speaker 17 (36:58):
So you know, it's funny, uh, you know, you hear
all these stories about how everybody rode. But you know,
by the time Charlie left, we didn't have a lot
of guys that could actually tell us what everything was
going on. But there were some guys out who's actually
doing the rodeo today named out in Riverside. So it
would probably be about three or four of us would
get in the car and we would drive out from
la and meet the guys that we actually grew up

(37:18):
with down there early in our lives and we would
meet over it over at Meisner's. Uh, they were buck
bulls on Tuesday night and Sunday afternoons. Wow, and and yeah,
that was kind of kept up interesting.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
I'm sorry to go ahead now you use the term bulls.
What exactly does that? I don't know what that means.
Tell me what?

Speaker 10 (37:40):
Right?

Speaker 17 (37:42):
They just put the bulls. But but Meisner had not
only bucking bulls, but he was doing the Bill Pickett
rodeos as well, So we were getting familiar with the
stock that we were actually going to ride at the
time along with the bucking horses, and you know, every
he did all the rough stock everything but the time event.
But so for us it was an advantage because you know,
when you're coming out of California. There's not a lot
of places you can actually get on what they say,

(38:04):
rough Stock. Yes, but you hear a lot of stories,
you know, everybody come out of Oklahoma, Textas, Arizona, places
like that. Everybody's backyard, got a bull off horse they
want you to get on.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
Yes, yes, that's good stuff right there. And again Fox
Sports Radio, we are talking to a Please, sir, if
you don't mind introduce yourself one more time to our
live radio atists. I don't want to mess your name
up again.

Speaker 17 (38:23):
Thank you, Yeah, it's fine. Yes, my name is a
Hosie Gladdening.

Speaker 5 (38:26):
Okay again, thank you so much. We appreciate you calling
now real quick. Tell everybody why it is so important
to come out to support this great event. Again, this man,
I've learned over a course of three weeks. I've learned
so much about this gentleman. You know, some friends of
mine I went to school with, We're like, hey, that's
our uncle. They were like, hey, man, we used to
carry around Jet magazine because he was in Jet magazine
back in the day. But just talking about right, yes,

(38:49):
but just talk about how special it is and why
it's important to come out today. And celebrate this great
event with mister again the Charlie Sampson Rodeo. We're going
to the.

Speaker 17 (38:57):
Charlie right, so, you knowing being from here actually and
you know, and and and it's gonna be.

Speaker 10 (39:04):
His first royal.

Speaker 17 (39:05):
We want to be a big success. I'm very proud
to be a part to bring my pony ride business there.
You know, I mean, anybody else could have did, I
probably would have an attitude. But Tee Wee's family. Uh
you know, you know, like I say, you know, he's
my idol growing up, you know, and he's here. You know,
he's been here, he's here in the yard. So I
think he took he's took all my starter for me.
Every time somebody come to see me, if they want
to know who is that? So I'm not the superstar anymore.

(39:27):
He is now when they come into my house. But
it's going to be a very good events. You know,
it's gonna be the first one. I think it's gonna
be a big kickoff.

Speaker 5 (39:35):
Uh.

Speaker 17 (39:35):
It's great people involved, great sponsors. It's just a lot
of people. It's a family thing and we hopefully this
will really really grow. You know, you know, sometimes you
kind of feel the first one might not be a success,
but I think we're gonna have over success because it's
the right people connected.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
That's good stuff. Right then, again, we really appreciate you, man,
Thank you so much. I just love your energy. I'm
gonna be out there early today, man, so I can't
wait to be introduced to you formally. But if you
don't mind, please give us the phone back to Charles again.
But thank you so much, brother. I really really appreciate
your story.

Speaker 17 (40:04):
I really appreciate you guys.

Speaker 8 (40:05):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
Good stuff right there.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
It's good to see when you see the next generation
yeah coming out and just its inspiration.

Speaker 5 (40:14):
Yep, so Tarl you there. Yeah, Okay, now, now that
must be really special man, for you to have the
next generation of people in your business really say that
they were inspired by you. And again, like I said,
I was introduced to one of your nephews, part of
the good one. Well no, well he's a he's a
good one. But it's actually his mother is actually your

(40:36):
It's related to you somehow. And again just like I
was telling him, they said, Man, back in when we
were in high school, you were in Jet magazine and
they used to carry around the picture and everything. So
just talk about how special that is right now where
people are really honoring you and they're talking about how
much you mean to them and how much you've inspired them.

Speaker 16 (40:52):
Well, obviously, you know when I say in my hero
he done, you know it came from the same environment,
and you know, and I say, got a great story.
You know, that's what That's what I'm proud of. Mostly
the great kid came from the same neighborhoods and that's
a rarity that you have somebody with the same attraction

(41:15):
that you had from the same environment. But uh, that's
what I that's what I'm inspired about. This rodeo that
Charlie is I introduced people to. When I say my lifestyle, guys,
I'm introduced into people. You know, I can tell my age,
I can say I've been doing this over fifty five years.

(41:39):
I've been in this over the speed limit. And I'm honored,
you know, to be in Norico. You know, obviously I
wish I could have done this to watch, but you know,
Norco people are gonna love that facility.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Man, let me, if you don't mind, let me. I
met with you the other day and again it was
just really really special special to see you in person again.
You have a great spirit. Thank you so much for
taking out the time to chat with me, man. But
let me tell you something about that facility. It is nice.
I mean, when I tell you, man, folks are going
to be treated to a really really nice place, the
English Center. What they've done with that is so nice.

(42:18):
It was interesting because when you were when we were talking,
you were saying about how it looked when you were
there first thing. I mean, talk to our audiences about
their history of how you used to come there back
in the day and how it looked then as opposed
to how it looks right now.

Speaker 16 (42:33):
Well, you know, I like I said, I was there
fifty years ago, uh in nineteen seventy four, Well, I
probably that was the pretty year I participated in that rodeo.

Speaker 12 (42:43):
Wow.

Speaker 16 (42:44):
And and you know, I'm literally it was it was
like dirt, I mean, rocks in the arena. I'm like, wow,
all these rocks and so it wasn't you know, it
was pretty rough. You know, they didn't really cater to
the rodeo arena. They just you know, just had a
rodeo and call it a day. But now, now, when

(43:04):
I say fifty years later, you can go to a
lot of you go to a lot of baseball fields,
a lot of basketball fields, a lot of you know,
of any sporting event, and for as a rodeo, uh
arena goes, there's no better. Uh. When I say twooting steadying,

(43:27):
I mean, I'm just when I drove up in there,
uh it. And I drove up in there, like wow,
this place is nice because we you know, as a contesters,
we go to the back game. You know, we don't
go where the fans go, so we don't really see
the front. We see the uh you know where the
stock is at. So you know, that's just a ritual

(43:47):
for us. And so I went to the front gate like, whoa,
look at this play?

Speaker 5 (43:52):
Yeah man, it's man, it's something.

Speaker 4 (43:55):
Yeah, it just talking.

Speaker 16 (43:56):
And I want your fans to know something. When I
met you the other day, I'm like, wow, buddy, you
you sure you you you can't.

Speaker 17 (44:05):
Get on the bull today? And you like you.

Speaker 16 (44:09):
I thought I ain't gonna say I thought I was
in good shape. Yeah, but you you're like, hey, man,
you're in good shape yourself. You I think if you
wanted to get into the don't take this room. I mean, senior,
I mean senior bull riding. You can probably beat them guys.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
Okay, okay, hey, hey man, hey, you know what, if
you say it, I'm willing to try it out.

Speaker 4 (44:31):
Man.

Speaker 5 (44:31):
You know, because again, like I said, man, I've just
really been impressed with you, uh, you know, talking to
people just around the city and and and folks telling
me about you. Again, one of our our gentleman that
is here a big, big shout out to thearre and
he was talking about how his uh his one of
his family members had a poster of you in his room,
you know. And again, so it's just really it's just

(44:54):
really great to hear all these great stories about you.
And again I've been watching videos and so forth. So again,
you're a real I have a hero to many, and
it's really great to see people celebrate. You know, a
lot of time, you don't get celebrated like this until
you pass off. So it's just really great to see
you being celebrated right now and again and again you
you definitely deserve it. Again being a trailblazer, being one

(45:15):
of the first African American bull riding champions.

Speaker 16 (45:20):
Yeah, that old saying whenever somebody tell me I'm a hero,
that's kind of sentimental with me. But heroes are not born,
they're made, yes, sir. And the people in Rodeo made me.
You know that my friends and family made me. Because
you know, there's all kinds of heroes. There's some just
don't want to give back to people. And but for me,

(45:44):
I just I catch myself. My friends are like, come on, Charles,
come on, let's go. Well, I'm talking to eighty, Come on, Charles,
let's go. I'm talking to such and such.

Speaker 4 (45:53):
Man.

Speaker 16 (45:54):
I'm like, how are you supposed to be with people?

Speaker 17 (45:57):
Yes, sir, man, you talk to.

Speaker 16 (45:59):
Everybody if they would have met my mom. My mom
she didn't know a stranger. Yes, nice and everybody. She
talks the kid like she knew him. And I catch
myself sometimes like, man, charge much. You holler at your mom,
let's go, let's go, let's go. Now now I see

(46:19):
what the cowboys say, let's go. But yeah, yeah, it
is being a hero is that's that's a big title, budd.
I'm just thankful.

Speaker 17 (46:28):
I'm just thankful.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
Well, you're you're definitely a pioneer.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
We appreciate all you've done is show uh that this
is something that African Americans can dominate. And I know
when you said your first time you were out here
is seventy four, I could only imagine. I don't know
if you thought that this would be fifty years later,
fifty one now years later, that you'd still be doing
this and still just a legend.

Speaker 4 (46:48):
We appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
We salute you, as the kids would say nowadays, we
give your flowers, we tip our cap to you.

Speaker 4 (46:52):
Yeah, and we love everything that you've done for the sport.

Speaker 5 (46:54):
And if you don't mind, real quick, Charles, if you
could just do a quick psa man, let the folks
know what's going to be happening and then today what
time everything kicks off, If you don't mind, please, well, you.

Speaker 16 (47:04):
Know, obviously we want to welcome everybody out behind days
bringing his ponies out to introduce you know, the kids
that come early. Uh, the gates open at three. You know,
the gates open at three. We've got great vendors. We've
got a lot of food to sell, a lot of
you know, Charlie T shirts to sell and caps. Uh
got the free pony rides. You know, be taking pictures.

(47:27):
I got some martographs. Uh, you know, like I said,
the gates open at three. Walk around visit with everybody,
get you a good seat. Then the show starts at four,
So people's gonna see lots of team roping, Uh, lots
of barrel racing, that's the girls run around the barrows.
They're gonna see trick riding.

Speaker 12 (47:48):
Uh.

Speaker 16 (47:48):
I have a friend from northern California. Actually she's looking
for future.

Speaker 8 (47:53):
Uh.

Speaker 16 (47:54):
You know, a young girls that want to be part
of their team because they travel nice throughout the world.
And obviously you go see what I did for twenty years.
I rode bulls and we have junior bulls, which you
know I started out there and I graduated to the
you know, to the two thousand pound bulls.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
Wow.

Speaker 16 (48:15):
So we have we have several hours of fun, you know,
for the for the price of a of a ticket.
You know, we're gonna tell you the whole seat, but
you're gonna need the edge because it's gonna be really intense.

Speaker 5 (48:27):
That's good stuff. Again, man, we are so again. Man.
It was a pleasure to again to be in your
presence the other day. And again, man, thank you so
much to your your brother Larry, who's done a phenomenal
job making sure that you and I stay connected as
well as Michelle and her and her husband. Again, you
have a really great support team there. Again, I want
to make sure I say thank you to all the
good folks over at the Eagles Center over there, Man,

(48:50):
it's just a really what they've done over there, them
good folks and Norcot need to be applaud It's just
a really really special arena. So everybody there, you guys
are going to be really really uh, you're gonna have
a treat. It's gonna be nice out there. So again
we're excited about it. Again, make sure you guys come
out there. The address for everybody the ones to come
out there again, it's at the Angle Center out there
in the great city of Norco. It's three seven three

(49:12):
seven Crest View Drive again, three seven, three seven Crestview
Drive and Norco. Again, folks, come out there. It's gonna
be a great time. Charlie, thank you so much. We
appreciate it. Again, as as my partner said, it, couldn't
say it any better than he said it. Again, we
salute you, give you your flowers. And again man, we
just really we hope and we pray that you're able

(49:33):
to keep spreading this great message again and again, folks,
we were gonna be telling directing traffic to the rodeo today. Man,
can't wait, thank you thinking.

Speaker 16 (49:42):
And it's all covered so so it's not gonna get
rained on in the sun, ye stopping.

Speaker 5 (49:49):
Yes, we should have mentioned that, right, it's a covered arena.
It's really nice. I mean it's again folks. You guys
are going to be in for a treatment real quick
before we let you go. Talk about because when I
was there, you were setting up the pictures talk about.
I want to make sure we talk about that. I
know it's a really it's a special thing. Uh, that
wall of fame right there. I know that means a

(50:10):
lot to you to talk about that. I want to
make sure people are aware of that as well, so.

Speaker 16 (50:15):
As the people come through the you know, both sides
of that arena.

Speaker 1 (50:19):
Uh.

Speaker 16 (50:20):
When I say in the back part, I guess that's
the north part. What what we did is took, you know,
hung up pictures of you know, I ain't gonna say
it's bad, but it's just, you know, it's stratified to
me to see so many of my past cowboys and
cowgirls that uh, that we're going to shrine. And as

(50:42):
I look at the wall, the memorial wall. I mean
I can, I can tell a story about every last
one of those cowboys and cowgirls how much they started
me and and so that's what the rodeo is about.
The rodeo. You know, I'm a world champion bull rider.
But if it wasn't for the people that you know
started me out, I don't think I would have been.

(51:04):
I ain't gonna say the best cowboy that I am
turned out to be, but they had a lot to
do with it. We have some you know cowboys that's
alive that's gonna be there also that's started me out,
you know. But you know the cowgirl crew that's part
of my team, Michelle and Alex and her husband, uh Hal,
I'll tell you that those girls, they they're go get it.

(51:27):
And my brother, I don't know where you got this
energy from, but uh I'm like Larry. You know, he worked,
He worked on a golf course at the Caddy. So
you don't know. I'm a retired bull rider. You know,
I rest a lot and he just goes one hundred
miles an hour. You gotta you gotta be on this.
You gotta be here, you gotta be there, Like Larry,

(51:49):
let me catch my breath. Oh no, you gotta you
gotta talk to you know, the youth, the caddle life people,
and you gotta do this. Take these pictures and take
and take it all these podcasts. The only good thing
about this rodeo is I don't have to leave this
rodeo and drive get.

Speaker 5 (52:11):
Exactly exactly that's good stuff. Well again again, as I
speak for Coach B, I don't know if you have
any final partner word for it for Charlie, Sam, No.

Speaker 3 (52:17):
No, I just want to take youngradulations on his career
and look forward to seeing a great event.

Speaker 5 (52:20):
Yeah again, we're happy for it. Again. We will be there, Charlie.
Thank you so much. We appreciate it again. We salute you, sir,
and you enjoy man and we'll be seeing you in
just a few hours.

Speaker 16 (52:30):
Appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (52:31):
Guys. There it is right there, Thank you sir. We'll
talk to you soon. All right there it is right
there again the legend himself, Coach B Charles Sampson and
again man when I met him again, even though he's
a short guy, but he has a lot of presence.
You can just feel his present when you walk into
the room. Again. He's just a great guy really humble.
I mean, when you see people celebrate him like that,

(52:53):
it's just great to see. So again we're happy about that.
Again the Charles, we're calling it going to the Charlie

Speaker 4 (55:55):
To Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (55:56):
Servants say, this is coach being to turn on Fox
Sports Radio heard in Southern California and Fox Sports Am
thirteen fifty.

Speaker 4 (56:12):
I am your host, Coach b.

Speaker 5 (56:13):
Now amos turning right here live in a great city
at Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios. Again, folks, really great
interview right there, excuse me with our guy, the legend himself,
mister Charlie Sampson, Charles Sampson, and we're you know, we're
calling the phrase, We're going to the Charlie so a

(56:33):
legend right there, really happy about hanging out. It's gonna
be my first radio coach. You have ever been to
a rodeo before? I have not.

Speaker 4 (56:40):
I've never been to one.

Speaker 5 (56:41):
Yeah, so this will be my first one. I'm trying
to figure out. I'm still I told him I'm gonna
hold him to his word about those boots, man, because
that dirt looked real out there, and I still got
you know, I just don't know about getting my tennis
shoes dirty, coach, But I guess that's part of the
thing I got to get past. But anyway, great stuff
right there. We also had missed uh litle b. I

(57:01):
hope I'm lib bout uh because you see it when
she said her name like that was it was smooth.

Speaker 4 (57:07):
It was smooth.

Speaker 5 (57:08):
I had a name like that. You couldn't get me
to say anything short. It would just be like, yeah,
get with my my swag right there. So that was
that was great again having her in there. A young
lady here local graduated right around the corner, and uh,
excuse me, it's great to see that she actually went
and got her degree, walked out of there with a degree,
and uh, I forgot what it was like medical, but

(57:30):
it was a lot. It was a whole bunch going on.
So again we salute that young lady as well. But
we still have some also some new some big news happened.

Speaker 3 (57:38):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (57:38):
I know, just as a student over going to RCC,
how much this gentleman, mister Tom Kraft, uh made in
football a long time coach. Really he took our RCC
to some new heights over there, and and there's a
there's a regime change.

Speaker 12 (57:54):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (57:55):
You know, they're doing some renovations on the football field.
I hear they got some new uniforms coming in so
breaking news. We're hearing that Kevin Kraft, the son of
a longtime coach I head football coach Tom Kraft, is
expected to replace him as RCC's new head football coach.

(58:16):
Coach coach b I know you know about Tom Craft.
We I mean, we've had history with that program calling
the games back in the day.

Speaker 4 (58:23):
When I hear Kevin Kraft, I twitch.

Speaker 3 (58:26):
Because if you remember, he's the quarterback of u C
l A when they beat USC when they were.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
Doing that run.

Speaker 5 (58:31):
So do you think that's him, That is him, That
is him.

Speaker 4 (58:34):
That is him.

Speaker 3 (58:35):
Yes, yes, because I remember talking when we were at
when we were covering our RCC. I remember having that
conversation with him. I remember having the conversation with coach
Kraft and said, hey, your son is balling and I
think at the time he was over in Japan playing wow.

Speaker 4 (58:52):
But yeah, that was the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (58:53):
He was the one, if I'm not mistaken, if you
get the linebacker name, when he came and just lit
him up on the sidelines and he jumped right back
up and playing wow.

Speaker 4 (59:01):
And I his name is beside me.

Speaker 3 (59:05):
I know, I know he was one of the Polynesians
linebackers and he said, when the dude got up and
jumped right back up, he kind of rattled down.

Speaker 5 (59:11):
Yeah, I'm not I do remember. Yes, yes, I forgot that,
but he wasn't a fifty five guy.

Speaker 4 (59:16):
No, I don't think something.

Speaker 5 (59:17):
Okay, I know you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (59:18):
Yes, yeah, and and and that's what he said.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
He said that that actually rattled him because when he
when he got up, he said, I thought that I
was going to clear his clock, but he got back
up and went back.

Speaker 5 (59:29):
To play football. I do remember that game, Yes that
I didn't know the connection, but I do remember that
game vividly. Yes, interesting stuff right there, Coach b with
the history, Yes, right unfortunately yes, yes, so yeah, so
Kevin Kraft. So that's gonna be crazy coach, because they know,
you know, anytime you have a football coach that comes
in and says, hey, I've been there, done that, that

(59:49):
kind of that, that that sends shockwaves through the locker room.

Speaker 4 (59:52):
Yes, and he was a really solid quarterback.

Speaker 3 (59:55):
It just shows you how difficult it is to play
at that next level, to get there. So that's what
we were saying before at the top of the show.
If you get especially now with the transfer portal, if
you get an offer, I don't care if it's an NAIA.

Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
Take it.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
There's nothing better than a free degree. Because now the
way the kids are working up is you almost have
to go because you go JUCO. Now, I think it
doesn't go against your eligibility and someone who sued the
NCAA and it doesn't go against your I don't know
if that's finalized.

Speaker 4 (01:00:20):
I'll check that to make sure. But you have to
do what you had to do. Like when you when
you look at my cousin Keishawn Nixon, he went to
a junior.

Speaker 5 (01:00:29):
Player.

Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Yes, he's the I don't know if this kick or punoff.
He doesn't Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
He went the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (01:00:35):
So his story was I remember my cousin Shay kept
talking about him. He's going to the NFL. He's going
to the NFL, and I was like, okay. So he
went to a JUCO in Arizona. He was there for
two years and then he transferred to South Carolina the
other USC and I was saying, no, that's not really
a powerhouse, but it's an SEC school.

Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
He got picked up by Chucky with the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
I think he was there three years, had a three
year deal and now he's really doing this thing with
Green Bay. He started off in special teams, kind of
found his Niche still does.

Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
The special team.

Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
Yeah, he's out there on the field now. And that's
what I say, that's the process.

Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
Like our guy coach Kerr would say over at Ganisiha, Yes,
trust the process.

Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
That's a good word, right, I said all the time, man,
And it kind of reminds me of a good associated mind,
a Quincy Brewer. He's over at seventeen a Valley College
and he's getting a lot of kids scholarships to the
next level. I mean, you know they're going to some
you know, they're not going to some of these big
time D one school that you may recognize, but they're

(01:01:33):
getting those D one scholarships. And to your point, that's
how you can you can set yourself up for a
D one opportunity nowadays because it's so congested right now.

Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
Yeah, And I'm looking at my cousin's bio.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
Twenty nineteen undrafted, but he was a second a two
time first team All Pro special teams and then he
was a two time NFL kickoff Returner of Yards leader
into twenty twenty two and twenty three undrafted. Wow, and
they listen to five ten. He's not five ten, so
he said he's shorter than that. Yeah he's yeah, he's wow.

(01:02:04):
But uh yeah we're not tall guys.

Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
My family was just not tall.

Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
But I just let you know, though, coach bi is
what you're doing. You get on the field, you know,
like even like Jordan mcloftin, I mean for NBA player,
we stood in there. I mean he's like a good
six foot maybe you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
But even if Shase is not that big, when we
stood next to him right, truly, he was skinny.

Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
He was skinny. Well he's put on some way. He
definitely put on some wais so but you figure like
then and he was a young guy then too, so
he figured he was like about probably about six two
sixty three.

Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
Maybe he's like got fresh out of candidate.

Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
So he still has that accident.

Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
Yes, yes it's.

Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Something, but I'll tell you I'm not on a sign
note that Canadian team.

Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
They may be the team to get.

Speaker 5 (01:02:40):
The United States.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
I mean they've got some players on that Canadian team.

Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
It's going to be different.

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
Now in France with Winby impressed of Winby and people
keep making the comparison. What was the quarterback I know
you know, uh Nebraska, Tommy Fraser. Yes, that that and
then the guy from Miami, what's our guy, boss christ Bats. Yes,
those blood clots are are are?

Speaker 5 (01:03:04):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
Colin Cowhert was talking about that the other day. He
said he had a blood clot and he said that
really missed. That's a that's something with your with yours,
that's not just just a blood lit because you have
to take the blood thinners and then you're susceptible to
getting cut and blea.

Speaker 4 (01:03:16):
Yeah, so it's it's yeah, prayers to him.

Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
Yeah, no doubt about it. No, you you definitely it's
it's a you don't want to you don't want to
play with that, because what happens is if they don't,
you know, you do something, that clock could come up
there and they can stop your heart and it could
be and it's immediate is really really quick, so and
they fly so much. So yeah, so you have to
really really be careful with that. So, as you mentioned,
definitely shouts out to prayer, thoughts and prayers out to
Wemby and he was.

Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
Probably flying back to we we So that's that's probably
you know, those sixteen seventeen hour flights.

Speaker 5 (01:03:42):
Right exactly, doubt about it. Those that's a long time
to be on the airplane. So again we want to
make sure we give a big shout out to again
Carter Bryant got drafted again, Riverside native centen year high
school graduate Carter Brian got selected to the San Antonio
Spurs when fourteenth. Also got to make sure we give
a shout out to Edelwanda High School graduate Jamal Mayshak

(01:04:05):
he got picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies. And then
another big shout out to Riverside Polly Alum then went
to Kentucky Lamont Butler on his two way contract with
the Atlanta Hawks. So again make sure you guys shout
out those guys right there. We will see you all
next week. I will be at the Charlie again. You
are listening to Coach Being Eternal.
