Speaker 2 (00:59):
It's time for the longest running sports talk radio show
in Inland Empire history. These two have been on air
together for over a decade in County Wait.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Did I just read that right? This is a record
breaking show. Let me look at my notes. Let me
look at my notes. Yeah. I E sports Net.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
It is the longest running sports talk radio show in
Inland Empire history. And here are your hosts, Coach B
and Eternal on Fox Sports Radio. Gentlemen, it's all yours.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I'm feeling kind of retro. This is i E. Sports
Net Herd in Southern California and Fox Sports Am thirteen fifty.
I am your host, Coach B.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
And I am your host Eternal right here live in
a great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios, and
we are set up for a wonderful, wonderful show. Good
brother B, how you doing, man? I know you know
you've had a busy week. Man. Tell the good people
how you feeling today?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Man, I'm feeling ran over the wife. It's like the weekends.
You just want to sit at home and relax in
the well. I told me we had some agendas. You know,
you had someone someone had a birthday this week.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Yes, indeed, man. You know, hey, let me tell you something.
I feel a little bit older. I know I got
you by a year. But they say when you turn
the big five, ozho, those wake up, you wake up
and you feel a little bit more achy. But I'm
feeling a little bit more breaky. I'm ready to do it. Man.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
I tell people when they say fifty is a new forty,
fifty is the new fifty. So fifty is not the
new forty. Fifty is a new fifty. And I've embraced
my age.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
You know, I juve around with the wife because her
birthday is until the twenty first, and I said, you
know what, I get it. You don't get it. You're
still need you forty right, So but yeah, fifty is
the new fifty. People need to know that. Yeah it is.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Again, thank you for that. Man. Appreciate everybody giving, you know,
giving me some birthday shoutouts and everything. It's been really
really it's always great to do that.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
I know.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Coach B he celebrated his birthday in July, so we
got all of our birthdays out of the way. So
exciting stuff right there. We have Look, Coach B. We
just did these rankings and people folks were some of
the comments. They said, we need some people need to
get fired, Coach B. Some people said we need to retire.
(03:10):
I mean, they were just spewing off all kinds of
different things. Coach B at us. But you know what
we're gonna do. We're just gonna We're just gonna just
let it run off our back. But let's go ahead
and let's get into this again, as Fox Sports Radio
Coach B and E. Turner right here live in a
great seat riverside. Uh, let's go ahead and break this down.
It's the it's the Inland Empire, Top ten teams to watch.
(03:31):
We put this out the other day. Uh, you know,
almost a thousand likes. Uh, the comments almost you know,
the comments are running in again. People say, folks can
get fired, throw it away. Yes, but let's just go
ahead and get at it, Coach B. Let's start from
the Let's go ahead and start from number ten. Who
do you got and who do we got? At number ten?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
And I tell people, settle it on the feet. Just
look what Arizona State did last Come on, now, settle
it scout scout, scaborough or scatterbooy legit legit, legit. So
what's the here from that Toby, Yes, he reminds me.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
No, No, he has Toby Toby like tennis desk.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yes, but like I said, settle it on the field.
Coming in at number ten was none other than San Jacento.
And coming in at number nine, people were chirping at that.
They play in the base Line League. Thank you, coach
being so Damian is number nine in the post. Everybody
wants to you know, everybody wants the trophy, you.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Know, exactly exactly, there's good stuff right there. So again,
coming in at number eight, you have Vista Marietta, which isn't.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Technically the ie SO, but they are in the region.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
They're in the region. They're in the region, and that's
what all we're saying. We're saying the greater sam Manadino
and Riverside County area. So we again Vista Marietta right there. Again,
really really tough team. Now this is one everybody had
a lot to say at Awanda coming in at number seven,
Coach b folks went nuts about that. I know that's
your your kids Alma matera right there, but but you
(04:56):
know your your thoughts about that, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
It's it's you know, I would really. And this is
another thing. We have friends that they try to discredit
them because they want to see if in the lower division,
then go win one. Hello. It's like hello, you play
the teams in front of you. That's all you can do.
They want the CIF championship within the last three or
four years. So Edil one is one of those schools.
If they could get football really rolling, they would be
(05:19):
good in.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Every sport, every sport, every sport. And they really there
were the time coach b you and I both know
this where they were really good and legit and every sport.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
So yeah, it's funny because coach Davis, the Formula coach,
he told me he went there when Rancho Kucamonga was open.
He said, yeah, Brian, it was tough because a lot
of my friends, you know, they divided it.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Yeah, you know, yeah, no doubt, no doubt about it. Again,
Fox Sports Radio, while here live in a race of
the riverside, we are going over the Inland Empire. Top
ten teams to watch. Coach before he got number.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Six, number six, the pride of Jaden Daniels himself coming
in number six, KHONAF they could rebound and get that
thing going and it ain't great. I would love this. And
also so people know Jayden Daniel's dad was his coach
and he's around that when people to know, come on
that great great guy. Just want people to.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Know that I did get a chance to chopp it
up with his dad. Still a good dude, still got
his love for the show. So again big shout out
to mister j. Number five, again, a lot of folks
had stuff to talk about. We had Coach Fleming come
in the brand new coach. Uh he's in for coach Zomalt.
Uh he was, he was coach is almost I believe,
defensive coordinator. But coming in at number five, we had
(06:25):
Orange Vista. Let me tell you something. Their quarterback is
a four year starter. Trust what I tell you. These
guys are legit. Who you got number four? Number four again?
Speaker 3 (06:34):
They is it technically the High Desert because people were
chirping about this, Yes they were, they were, but they
still and they got a big schedule and they got
a real schedule. They're they're stepping up like that. Again.
They are in San Bernard Dino County, which stretches from
you know, just after Pomona to the Vata border. Come on,
just San Bernardino County. Come on, that would be oak Hills.
(06:56):
They're getting it, they're getting it in, so you gotta
love oak Hills coming in a number four. Coming in
number three again, Chaparral, that's the Tamakola Valley, not technically
the i E. But we give love to anybody in
those counties. And you talk about Chaparral coming in at
number three, and then who you.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Got, And let me tell you some real quick story
about Chaparral. They have another kid, one of our MVP's
coach b that was formerly at norcoch Schneider, remember that,
the Snyder kid. He's now at Chaparral, one of the
feature running backs. Be on the lookout for them. They
look really good this year. And then coming in at
number two, Rancho Cuckamonga. These guys are legit. These they're
(07:30):
a really really good football team, probably one of the
better teams in San Bernardino. But they got a huge
game against Marriotte Valley who who you know who we
didn't put on there. They lost a lot of people,
so I need to see what's going on with Marriotte
Valley inside the lines. But number two coming in number two,
we had ranchall Cucamonga, who's number one coach.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
But it's always a race for a second place. What
it is long is there's a head coach there named
Matt Logan, and that is none other than the Evil Empire.
We're talking about the Corona Centennial team. You know in
Centennial may start off again one one and four, one
in three, but they're playing the likes of Saint John
Bosco modern day taxiship team out of Texas Liberty in Arizona.
(08:12):
So they're playing. But this is when I want everyone
to mark this on their calendar when you think about
this September fifth, remember this game. This is gonna be
an early season throwdown Oak Hills against Rancho Kukum. That's
gonna be a big that's gonna be a big And
I know coach Coach Burns and Studart he has a
big one too. He's going to play a team out
in the CV. He's got a game with Xavier coming.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Okay, okay, we'll put but number one again. We're really
excited about this. You know, we're gonna be hosting our
first ever Yeah, there you go, geta We're gonna be
hosting our first ever, uh ever, in the history of
our of our show, we've been you know, Coach being I.
We've been back and forth to Vegas doing the uh
(08:54):
you know again, big shout to the Raiders doing their
doing their media day right there and at Legion Stadium,
a house that our Davis built. But Coach B, we're
gonna have we have some of our some of the
better teams here representing the Inland Empire, but none, none, bigger,
nothing more supportive than this gentleman here. I called him
on the fire said, man, look, if we're doing anything,
(09:16):
you coming with us because this brother has supported us
so many times. Coach, do us the courtesy of introducing
yourself to our live radio audience.
Speaker 6 (09:22):
Please warning, thank you for having me, gentlemen. Coach DeShawn Burns,
head football coach at Linfield.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Here it is writing the.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
Story in turn.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
We first met him. His son is like in the
eleventh grade. Yeah, grown man, got a full beard.
Speaker 8 (09:33):
Look on me, I'm about to say, and he's like, like,
how you doing, sir?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
No right, Coach again, thank you so much for coming in.
You got a special young man here, because this this
gentleman here, we're really excited that you told me the
story of the backstory about this gentleman. But before we
get into Lynfield, talk about this this specially young man
you got here on your right.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
I have the pleasure in honor of having it, young man.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
I want to make everybody you got to got the
football boys, but please everybody here pleasure.
Speaker 6 (10:04):
And honor of having the young man that played in
the All Star Game that you guys derived years ago
and uh had a great career at City sil and
then went on to play football at the University of
texast O. Pat So Elijah Robinson. Yes, yes, you got yes,
so he's on our staff as a linebacker and tight
enans coach.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Yes there, you got good stuff. Yeah, I know, I
know his father, well, me and his father we went
we went to RCC together, you know what I mean.
So you know, I'm just really really happy to see
him doing some really great things right there. No, no, no, yeah,
So talk to us about real quick coach you you,
I mean, you're all live. You have embraced social media
to another level. But talk about the program. You got
(10:44):
some exciting players I know right here in the wing.
But talk about the program and now where you where
you guys are right now? Uh, here in August, ready
to kick off the new season.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Well, we're no blessed. Being able to do this thing
for a living is obviously a blessing from the Lord.
And it's going on the year fifteen. We're coming off
a season where we're league champs. That's in the past,
and we're new now. We have some new faces in
place and some new coaches, and the goal is just
to take care of business each and every week. You know,
the ultimate ultimate goal is to play until December. Somehow
(11:14):
someway get on the dance floor and keep the lights
on until December. But you can't plan too far ahead.
You got to take care of the simple things. And
as I always say, keep the main thing, the main, main thing, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
And you know, Coach, when I look at your journey,
I know the history of you. You played at Ruberdeau,
you went over there and played. You are an actual
USC Trojan, you know, you actually played for the team.
And you in football, you've coached all over I've seen
you coach All Star games in Florida and this and that.
Did you ever think that football would would would be
so great for you in your life and all the
things that you've accomplished.
Speaker 6 (11:44):
You know, I really didn't. I think the thing that
came to me was when I was coaching at Bischbalmontt
High School and I have a good friend, his name
is Kurt Barber end up playing with me and sc
and then went on to the league. And we're at
a game they were gonna he was with the Jets
and they were gonna play the Rams in Anaheim, right
and we are in the We're in the hotel room
(12:05):
and we're just talking, and I was kind of getting
on his case because I had thought he had and
I thought he was kind of being a little laxt
days ago about being in the league and so many
people this and that and the other. We talked about
Barry Sander's retiring and just the reason behind that. I thought, well,
I was so silly and thinking those things. And then
I just noticed she said, I never thought about going
(12:25):
to the league. I just wanted to kick butt on
the football. And that stuck with me.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
You know.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
It was like, just be present, be where I'm at,
and be all in where I'm at, and then God
to take care of the rest. And it's been a ride.
So I've you know, I have not the game was
always good to me. And I know this that if
you're good to the game and it to be good
to you. And I learned that from my dad. Made
rest in peace. But he taught me that at the
early age. You know, be good to the game, the game,
(12:52):
and be good to you and put your all in
b be all where you're at. You know, people feet
on the ground there. So it's been well.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
And you know you think about that, you think about fathers,
and your father was instrumental in your career and helping
you out. And now you've taught the game to your boys.
And I know you said your daughter was in the
last time, we said she was in Texas doing her
arts thing. We don't want to leave out the daughters.
My first boe was a girl, and I loved you.
I got to represent the young ladies. But what is
it about that what you learn from your father that
you tried to to then instill in your kids. And
(13:20):
I saw the plaque where he had your CIF, so
I mean, how special is that?
Speaker 10 (13:24):
You know?
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Well?
Speaker 6 (13:24):
It was I just my dad just always telling me
this go hard, don't ever get in trouble with the coach,
Like if everybody else is running, then you need to
be run with right. If you're ever running on your
own means you did something on this when we're gonna
have an issue. True, So I just tried to impart
that upon my boys. I didn't really want to coach
and be honest with you, but in this day and age,
(13:45):
I'm very mindful of what's around. Yes, I don't want
to be a daddy baller.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
I wasn't.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
I didn't coach them in high school like I was
the head coach and the coordinator, but they had different
position coaches. I never coached them positionally. I mean sure
somebody else did, but it was really simple, do the
right thing, and the Burns coaches do the right thing
and never give up. If you want to do it,
it's going to take a lot of sacrifice. You gotta
want to do it. So they and they ran with
(14:11):
it a thing. So you know it's a blessing, right.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Like you said, we got to give your flowers.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
Coach.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I love to see what you do. Not only are
you you you you pour into your kids, but I
see your your your team. You know you can tell
them your kids and you pour into those and it's
I love to see a coach. It's so passionate. We
never had that when I was growing but.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
I know we only had one guy like that. But
ask another story because burn thank you so much. We appreciate.
Let's go ahead bring bringing uh mister Robinson right here? Maybe yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Know, man, what's up? What's up? All right?
Speaker 4 (14:42):
What's put that microphone? Introduce stuff to a live radio audience.
Speaker 11 (14:46):
Please, uh Elijah Robinson, linebacker Titands, coach.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
At Linfield Christ High School. Good stuff, man, now real quick,
So again you know our background. Obviously, we got a
chance to see you out there between the lines playing
in the All Star Game out you know. You know
your dad used to always talk about and say, ma,
I'm a suck and play. We got to say to
see you out there play. We talk about real quick
about that All Star experience. How was that for you?
Speaker 11 (15:07):
Yeah, I mean it was an amazing time. I got
to play with a lot of great dudes that were
in the area, made some lasting connections that last meet
after the All Star Game, all the way into college
into my years now, met coach Burns up there, you know,
and got to play some real good football.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
It was an amazing experience.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
This stuff, right, there, and that's nice when you think
about it. A lot of players have said that those
that All Star Games reminds them of like the next level.
What was it like for you to have the ability
to go play college football and and and being away
from your parents. It had to be tough. Oh no,
the way you smile like he was like, man, but
how was that experience?
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (15:47):
I mean, you know, my dad did a great job
preparing me to live on my own and be my
own person. So when I was able to go out
there and play in Texas and I'll passo.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (15:58):
It was just a great time being around so many
guys with so much experience outside of where I was at.
You know, I met guys from Florida, I'm the guys
from Texas all around the country, and it's it's so
different being so sheltered here in I had never been
out of out of California really, yeah, you know, and
(16:19):
being out there, it was just it was an amazing experience.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
That's good stuff, right that.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
That's hard to hear, man, I tell my kids, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Now no real quick, now again, now you're over here,
now again, you you've changed it, took the pads off,
and now you got a whistle. Uh talk about this experience.
Obviously you're coaching these young men coming up, you're in
parting all of your experience. How has that been for
you and you walking through the process of you now coaching.
Speaker 11 (16:43):
Yeah, I mean we we got some great kids, you know,
and I love and try to pour into every one
of my kids out here. They've they've done like an
amazing job making me feel welcome.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
You know.
Speaker 11 (16:54):
Coach Burns has been has done amazing making me feel welcome.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
You know.
Speaker 11 (16:59):
At the end of the day, it's just trying to
mentor trying to give in part some of the knowledge
that I've learned over my years. And I think it's
it's it's been great so far.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
You know, Turner, you always had that one young coach
that you play basketball football. Are you that coach that say,
let's line.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
You know every once in a while. Yeah, we can
still and I know Burns. I know Burns is still
in the way. We're working out too. But again, man, no,
thank you so much. Man. Honestly, I was so excited
to hear that you're now coaching. I was coaching with Burns.
I know, well, you know, I know what kind of
person he is, and I know that's a great experience
for a young man like.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
He came back.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
A lot of people when they they don't come back
and they said, man, rear view mirror.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Yeah, they said the house prices of Texas. I'm a
stay come back.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
But again, thank you so much. We appreciate what you're doing.
And again best of luck to keep up the good work. Okay,
there is Fox Sports Radio. We got Lynnfield Christian right
here live and we got.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
To talk about uh, Coach Burn's son is in Canada.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Point Yeah, man, I know we have to catch up
with him, no doubt about it. Young man. Shut up,
my man, my man, come on, man, you have to
put the cover the arms up.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Man.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
He making it look bad out here. Yeah, that was
good stuff.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Man.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Please don't be a funny no no, no weapons.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
He brought the gun show.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
I did my push up today.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Bust off this Jersey.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Introduce yourself to our live radio artists, please.
Speaker 10 (18:15):
I was going on. I'm Isaac, Isaac Man. I'm a
senior this year playing on the field. Christians strong safety,
free safety wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
He gonna do everything I do a little bit of everything.
I want to now put that microphone, and I want
to make sure the world can hear you real quick now.
Talk about this man being a senior obviously playing on
the coach burns. I know that that you're in the
leadership role. Talk about how that's been this summer again,
you guys are in the weight room working out. How's
the mentality coming into this new season.
Speaker 10 (18:40):
It's just it's felt a lot different because I know
I have that, uh, that standard to set for the
young for the younger people, just like how I always
set that same standard. So it just pushes me even
more to show them that this is how we do
it around here, and you know, just setting that standard
for them so that they can I can see the
best of them.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
That's good stuff.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
And you can call me coach. You don't have to
call me O G first, Like what quadruple? I know
I'm the old guy, but uh, you're a senior, So
what is it like? Has this journey been too fast
for you? I remember my senior year it went back
by so.
Speaker 10 (19:11):
Fast, even by super fast for me, especially because sophomore
year I had a pretty devastating injury to my leg,
so it cut me out of that season, which I
was pretty expected to have a good season my sophomore season.
So it's felt very fast, but it's it's just motivated
me more because I've had less time. So it's making
me push myself even more do better because you know,
I gotta do it. What with the time I got right.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
I had an injury too. It was called talent black.
I had no talent, so true struggle to get into it.
One day and my coach wanted one of the kids,
cracked his olden and he told me, rington give me
your helmet. It was at that moment I knew.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
When they take your helmet from you, somebody else, don't
take my helmet.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
I don't know that.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
He's like, that's what happened to me, and I'm sure
we'll not young men. Keep up the good work again.
We're so happy to have you in a studio. And
congratulations on the new season. Okay, appreciate you know, I.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Know he knows. I gotta answer. What do you bench it?
What do you mentioning? Brother?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
We bet five?
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Look at that.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Look at that I might be able to do to
forty five sets a push out? All right, you make it,
keep up to God work. Thank you so much again,
it's Lynnfield Christian right here live and yeah you got
what you said? Man, man, I can bench press you
all right, you're right. Put that microphone up, man, you
got to, don't. You gotta donate some hair to us,
old man too, man, put that microphone up, young man,
introduce yourself to a live radio artists.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Please, how's it going on?
Speaker 12 (20:24):
Michael Little, I'm a senior from Lynnfield Christian class class
of twenty twenty six. I'm a running back, strong safety,
free safety, return returner.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Okay, and you you got awards with the Gun Show, right,
you got the Gun Show awards, right?
Speaker 3 (20:37):
I like them.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
I like it. That's good stuff right there. Now now
now again, you play, obviously you go both ways. Uh
so you defense and offense. Uh tell everybody, what's your
position that you that you love the most?
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Definitely running back.
Speaker 12 (20:50):
I love just like getting the ball, being able to
read the hole and then hit it, you know, throw
a little stiff arm in there. Yeah, maybe run someone over.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
The truck stick real quick. Okay, I like it.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Okay, coach me, So what what is your what are
you looking for this year? Being a running back? You
know you're getting hit every play, But what are your
goals for this year? What are you looking to accomplish?
Speaker 12 (21:11):
My main goal is just to stay healthy, you know,
because I haven't really been able to stay healthy during
my season, So just hoping I could stay healthy and
just show everyone what I could do when I'm fully healthy.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Who's your favorite running back?
Speaker 12 (21:27):
Oh, Taul Gurley, my favorite running.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
It's a big dude, big d I like that big time. Yeah,
the real deal. That shows you're doing your homework. That's
a good man right there?
Speaker 13 (21:37):
Is it a Barry there? That's what I'm talking about.
What I'm talking about. Man, he got twenty eight. I'm
gonna leave.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
He's talking about I'm gonna get the spot. Okay, young man,
Well again, best of luck this season and keep up
the good work. Okay. There it is Fox Sports Radio.
We have the Linfield Christian the Lions right here, Coach
Burns and Coach Robinson right here, live in the house,
and the young men are coming in. Burns brought the
guys out today, our young man. Put our microphone up,
introduce yourself to a live ready ons. Please, what's up?
Speaker 6 (22:06):
Guys.
Speaker 14 (22:06):
I'm mad and mayor. I'm going to junior year. I'm
a linebacker tight end and I dibble dabble with some
running back.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Okay, okay, now now is there a curl bar in there?
Like you guys hit the curb? Everybody got the guns out?
Like I mean, did y'all get some club before you
came here?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
What was going on?
Speaker 14 (22:22):
We just go to Lynnfield and we work out.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
That's our thing. That's our thing.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I like that. That's good stuff right there. Now real quick,
put on. I want to make sure everybody can hear
you talk. Now. Give everybody experience. Again. We know coach Burns,
you know, and that's our guy. But as a player,
how is it working, you know, being able to be
you know, Coach Burns being your head coach.
Speaker 14 (22:38):
It's awesome. His experience going with college, NFL everywhere. It's
just really great for us. We get to know everything,
get prepared for the next level.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
That's good stuff, of course.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Yeah. So what what what are your goals? I always
like to hear about that because you said you're a junior. Yes, yeah,
so you still got another year of eligibility. But what
are you looking to set the standard this year?
Speaker 14 (22:57):
This year, I just want to help the new guys.
With my linebacker group, we got more new guys than
old guys. So I want to try and help them
out and get more tackles than I did last year.
I got one hundred and thirty one.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Wow. Well not that you remember she wrote one hundred
and thirty one more than Africa.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
True. True, that's good stuff. So okay, well that's good
stuff right there. Well again, young man.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
You know what's his favorite position?
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Position? Do you like to play? Most, dude? Linebacker?
Speaker 11 (23:24):
Yeah, there we got a favorite lie favorite linebacker.
Speaker 14 (23:27):
I go between ray Lewis and Luke.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Keith looking he's one after my I mean, the kid
knows what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Burns is teaching Lucy.
Speaker 8 (23:35):
Luke eased to knock himself out hitting people, but ray
Lewis thinking he shoulder, he break.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
It's color bo.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
They're running back from the tights, Eddie Joe. Oh yeah,
ray ray lewis our guy. But young man, best of
luck to you, keep up the good work. Okay, there
is Fox Sports waiting. We're gonna be on Coach Burns
one more time. Yeah, get up, young man, Yeah, yeah, no,
he's on it.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
Man.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Luke clean, he knows about he knows this stuff. Right there, now,
Coach Burns again a great group of young men right there. Obviously,
I mean, you know, you keep it like that, But
when's the first game? Talk about the preparation for that
first game.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
First game is in two weeks against Xavier Prep, NFL background,
and the coach up there, a good guy, does his homework,
he'll have him playing tough. This will be our third
third time going head to head. We faced him in
eighteen in the Semis, and then we faced him two
years later I think of twenty up there, and then
this year will be the third time. Okay, So in
(24:29):
two weeks, we have a scrimmage next week at T
Prep with the Hamilton T Prep. And there's another team,
there's a third team coming in, and we're just day
by day. Yeah, we're keeping the main thing, the main thing,
not looking too far ahead, and we got to take
care of business one week at a time.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
And your coaches, it's modest four sport letterman. You know,
I didn't realize this coach. You played a corner at
USC but you also played baseball and you went to
the miners.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
I was in a little developmental league up there with
coach Georgia Michi and the skip over it to the
Houston Astros. He was with the Astros organization. So shout
out to coach Rock Gillespie and rest in peace. He
gave me an opportunity. I played fallball USC and then
there's some complications with the scholarship and eligibility at SC
on the baseball team. So Coach Gillespie said, a couple
(25:16):
of teams have been out looking at us and looking
at me and acquired. And so I went up to
Merced with the Astros for a little bit and didn't
understand the game. So I came on back home and
thought I was going to.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
A football guy.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
Yeah, I was going to ment in May Park, like
going to Houston. Like it don't work like that.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Yeah you got when you've been there at eighty nine,
which was Rodney already gone.
Speaker 6 (25:38):
Uh so Sweet I played with with with Sweet Pete
we called I played with Rodney. The year that I
started playing, I played with Brett Boone. Booney got your casey.
So Boone's now the skipper with the Yankees. So okay,
with Boone and those guys, Aaron Jenkins, We're going to
(25:59):
baseball kid Shann Kollaney or Walter Dawkins. So we had
we had a nice little squad.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
There you got, Rodney Peace. Reason like us saw man
guarantee you here's a single reason. I like you said.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Any any you know any dating you know miss Holly
Robinson twenty one Yes, doing doing the right.
Speaker 6 (26:15):
They were dating when she was doing twenty one jump.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Yeah. Man, that's good stuff right well again Coach Burns. Look, man,
the products speak for itself. Those young guys are getting
great kids. But they're looking good, man, So you got
to I know that program. There's no joke over there
right now. Man. So if I know, if I need
to go do some workouts so I get you know,
get myself in shape, I know where to go.
Speaker 6 (26:33):
Well, come on down the line.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
They do a good job. That's good stuff. We again
thank you so much for being here. We appreciate it again.
Best of luck this season Coach Burns. Again, make sure
you guys, if you guys get a chance, go check
out the Linfield Christian Lines Again, Coach burn you do
an amazing job. Again. I really really enjoyed that you
got on mister Robinson over there helping you out as well.
That's a great testament to you what you got going on.
Speaker 6 (26:54):
Man, I appreciate it, jentlemen. They do a good job.
And Coachie Robinson's a lot of juice, Yes, brings a
lot of juice to the boys. And he is a
good mind.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (27:01):
And it's teaching them nuances the game, playing the position.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
That's good. That's good.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
There you go, there you go can beat that.
Speaker 4 (27:06):

I'm your host, Coach B.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Now Amy host E Turner right here live in a
great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios. And again
you guys can hear us every Saturday morning. Great great
stuff right there from Coach Burns Now Coach B. I
gotta tell you about this one of the things, one
of my highlights that I did. Not only was it
a highlight to excuse me celebrate my birthday, but I
(30:50):
got a chance Coach B to get right on the
sidelines during training camp of America's Grace, the Dallas Cowboys.
You know, I almost cried a little bit. Jerry, You
know I got a chance. Jerry Jones is right there.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Did you did you get up to him?
Speaker 4 (31:09):
I got right there, Oh yeah, oh yeah. I was
in the media scrum. But I gotta tell you right
right now, I'm not really happy with Jerry right now.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
I was going to say, who's bigger than you? Meeting
Jerry and meeting Kobe?
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Oh no, Kobe, Okay, okay, you want to make sure.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
I want to see? How I want? I want to
I want to see.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
Man, let me tell you something I almost I got.
My lip was quivering when I started.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
When I saw Kobe, yeah, you know.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
And then he answered my question, you know, like like
like how Kobe does to like you know, looked at
me like what.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Do you want? That's why I didn't want to meet
Sugar Shae because I can't look him in this.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
All right, No, I guarantee, but no, Jerry was there
and me and Jerry, I ain't gonna lie to you.
We beefing a little bit. I got a chance to
go out A big shout to Mark Chapman. Uh, we
got a chance to go out there.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
We settle on a handshakes, you know, set what are.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
We doing here? What kind of what kind of are
we writing stuff on a tissue paper? Too?
Speaker 5 (31:58):
Like?
Speaker 4 (31:58):
What are we doing? A coach? You know, you know
that you've been in there. You're in the business. You
got to sign your players. Jerry just doing this stunt stuff.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
For but he just everyone did it with CD, he
did it with Dak. I don't. I don't get it.
I mean, this goes back if you think it with
Swerven Irvin. I mean he did the same thing with
with Michael Irvin. So I don't. And the Collective Bargaining
Agreement states that you cannot negotiate directly with the player.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
And that's number one, right, so that Michael knows that.
He thought they were just having a regular conversation. But Jerry,
you know, Jerry's you know, he's a slickster. You know,
he's a still oil so you know, you know, you know,
he's in that game. So he was trying to basically
get Micah down, you know, get him down and talk
him all the way through this, get him down to
some number that he wanted to do, and then say, hey,
you know what, Hey, that was our handshake right there.
(32:46):
We agreed handshake with you. So a handshake deal. So
Jerry knows that's not how you play the game. The
fans were in an uproar. Coach b everybody had fire.
Jerry signs, pay Micah signs. I mean, the fans were
in an uproar. If you guys want to you know,
guys go to ice sports Net. Ice sports Net for
Instagram and uh and uh Twitter now formerly Twitter now X.
(33:11):
You guys can see one of the highlight reels on that.
I got a chance to walk around talk to the people.
A lot of folks were from everywhere. Again, the training
camp right there in Oxnard. Last what I can tell
you is this last year I went, it was crickets
out there, Coach B. Nobody was out there. I went
twice this year. Both times the stands were packed on
both sides, so the Cowboy fans are out there. It's
(33:31):
just disappointing that Jerry's playing with our emotions like this, man.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
And I really don't want to talk about training camp.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Oh I was gonna, I was pivoting. I was going
to throw it to you, Coach B. But I know
right now, this happens every year. Oh man, Coach B.
I mean, it's always somebody, Coach B. What's going on
out there? Is it the turf?
Speaker 3 (33:48):
What was happening out there?
Speaker 6 (33:49):
Man?
Speaker 3 (33:50):
You know, at first I thought that it was a
Staley or other coach. And of course we're talking about
the team of the California. We're talking about we're talking
about the only team that was born in Los Angeles.
They came home. It's like when your kids go to college,
they go off a couple of years and then they
come back home. And that's what those Chargers did. And
and you look at it. We lost Rashaan Slater, he
(34:11):
suffered a tour porteller at Tendon, so he is out.
And you think of Jim Harball, he wants to play
bully ball, and it's it's just oh my goodness, and
you think of Maconkey as all is out, Najie Harris
has heard. I mean, I don't know what to say
anymore about these about these charges. And maybe we can
ask Burns one of these days. Because when we were
(34:32):
when we were younger, they don't call it. They just
call it two A days now. We used to call
it hell we yes, but they call it two A
days now. And you know, you would, you would build
up a callous And I don't know, I've heard I've
heard old NFL players and now I don't know if
this is the you know, get off my line type speech,
but they're saying they're not practicing enough, and that's why
you see these players getting hurt now because they're just
not practicing enough. So it's I don't know.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
It's really tough, coach, because I again, you know, there's
a h in the charge, like you said, the chargers
are in the toy is for getting hit by the
injury bug, specifically during training camp. I mean it was
your your it was your cornerback that that year. You
and I went out there and they had the brother
man as a coach what was uh, I can't his name, yes, Lan,
(35:16):
but you know that year you guys had too of
your star players were out, you know, so and I
think you think that was what what four years ago?
And here and here we are again one of your
top uh linemen. Uh. You know it's I don't know,
coach B. But you know what's the what's the what's
your mood on what what hardball can still do in
the midst of this?
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Yeah, well, you know you're going to have to combo block,
You're gonna have to get some help. So and the
thing about it, I believe that's their left tackle and
that is the most important because because Herbert is right handed, Yes,
so that is your most blind position because they're talking
about moving hot over. But I don't know if you
can do that, because I forget what is on on
(35:58):
National Fox Trade. I forget the line his name. He
was sitting in for the odd couple, but he was saying,
imagine this. This is the best for people think, oh,
left tackle, rattole, switch and switch them left tackle on
right tackle. He said, if you're right handed and you've
written right handed all your life, start writing with your
left hand exactly and see how it feels. And that's
what it's like when you switch those positions. He said.
When you're doing right tackle, you know, you open up
(36:20):
to the right side or your left tackle. It's not
natural to over the side. So it's one of those things.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
It's excuse me, but you know, to your point, it's
a it's a very detail oriented position, which is why
they get paid the big dollars right there, because it's
difficult to make those moves like that, and you got
to get out of it. Especially you know, it's the
training coach b is so positioned specific now, they go
into so much detail. So just knowing that, just knowing
(36:46):
about how how specific this training is and then you
steal it's still difficult to transition like that. That gives
you all you need to know about changing positions. So yeah,
it's it's you know, as prayers are going up already
for the Chargers, but you know, hey, that's only one player, coach,
because eleven guys on the field. So hopefully you guys
can still plug and play and make something happen.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah, they'll make it work. And one thing I've got
to give my flowers to coach Harball. You know that
he started his coaching career at the University of San Diego,
which is you talk about a team that's come out
of nowhere. They just elevated to Division one. Because I
remember my Grand King University Analopes Lopes up. We played them,
I think about five or six years ago. They were
Division three at the time and we were both trying
(37:26):
to find our way because GCU was Division two and
they played San Diego and to see what they've gone now,
they just made the tournament I believe last year University
of San Diego. And I say that because coach Harball
his first coaching job was at San Diego. Then he
went to Stanford to coach San Francisco, and now he's
Michigan and now he's at the Chargers. They held two
days of practices at San Diego University of San Diego.
(37:48):
I like that, and I like that the Chargers hadn't
been back since twenty seventeen. So, you know, I have
a lot of friends from San Diego. I laugh at
them all the time because in Los Angeles, when we
you like a team, we just take them. We just
we just play them like we took the Dodgers, the Lakers, Lakers,
you know, that's what we do. The rate well, I
(38:09):
was wondering how he's gonna do with that, Yeah, the Rams, Okay, yeah,
because they came from Cleveland. So we just take a team,
you know, and that's what we do. But I like
the fact that Jim Harball is going back. And I've
always said that, you know, when you think about the Cowboys,
they come all the way from from Arlington, Uh, the
Arlington Cowboys come all the way to Oxnard. And I
(38:29):
think that's that that is a good idea because you know,
I have had a lot of friends to do. I
can't tell you how much San Diego Chargers gear I
got because people are so upset here. You can have
that's give it to me. I'll take it. But they
should go out there, and they should. I think training
camp should be in San Diego, the full training camp,
no question, it should be in San Diego.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
That's really a good point right there, Coach b because,
like you said, you want to ingratiate that fan base
out there. Again, it's a business. It's a business, and
you and you know, to your to your ultimate point,
you just don't abandon that fan base out there. There
was there. I mean, they were there when you guys
were playing at the Murphy, one of the worst stadiums.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
And you know, I don't I don't really care for
Jack Murphy. Do you know the why?
Speaker 4 (39:09):
Do tell so?
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Jack Murphy was a sports writer in San Diego. Okay,
there was a team in LA that was just born
played the year. He talked the owner into moving that
team from Los Angeles to San Diego. So they named
the stadium after Jack Murphy.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Are you serious?
Speaker 3 (39:21):
That's what? That's who Jack Murphy. Wow, he was the
one who talked the Chargers in the moving to San Diego.
I digress.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
You were saying, no, no, put me up on games recipe,
Jack wis there? It is there? It is. I was
about to say go ahead and put some flowers on it.
But nonetheless, you and I both know that was the
most horrific stadium to play, good for baseball, horrific for football.
But they were there, I mean those games, those Charger fans,
I mean, God bless them. They were there, rowdy, cheering
(39:50):
on doing what they had to do, trying their best.
Coach B. But it was just a really tough experience.
So again, Coach B, we would love to see. I
like what Hartball's doing. Hardball just a really great coach.
He brings. That was the coaches brother coach that he brings,
the energy man. So I really really like what I
see out of out of Coach Harball. Real quick before
we go to bed. We got two more minutes before
(40:10):
you go to break. I gotta talk about the watch.
It's that time, you know what I'm saying, No, none
other than that show me the time, Sha Door Sanders.
I don't know if you've got a chance to.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Watch it highlights. I was so upset last night. I
got home and didn't realize it was Eastern So I
did you were ready?
Speaker 4 (40:30):
You were ready?
Speaker 3 (40:30):
I was, man, I was, I was out dripped. I
can't wait to get right right and I'm downstairs talking
to the wife and we just chopping it and I realized,
wait and what times of game? When it came on
at four o'clock our time, I was so disappointed.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
Oh, I know you were sick. And let me tell
you something that young man, uh number one. Uh. You
know who knows why he dropped like that. I don't
know this conspiracy theory that everybody has the theory about that.
I didn't even want to get into that. But one
thing I will tell you, I'm always impressed with the
way he conducted hisself.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
He's the first guy out there for practice stage late,
even though they got him on number six in a
depth chart. Yes, but he played magically last night. The
coaches gave him a chance to play both quarters, and
to me, that's what you do. You take advantage of
the opportunities.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
The best thing in football or any sport is availability.
So he wasn't hurt. He was able to get on
the field. And this is the one thing that I
will tell everybody. When you think of the draft and
the draft position, Tom Brady was selected one hundred and
ninety ninth overall in the sixth round. So if Tom
(41:37):
Brady is the goat and he can go in the
sixth round, one hundred and ninety ninth overall. Pick use
that as ammunition and fire. And one thing he got
to say is I gotta I gotta get past Dylan Gabriel.
I got to get past Picket, and then I gotta
get past Flaco Flacoh when when when Flaco and I
let's speak of another thing. I just got my ARARP membership.
I paid for it.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
Minutes I heard that that.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
I mean, if me and Joe Flacco are both in
the ar R, then you know that's a guy you
need to be beating out.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
Yes, yes, no, and to your point again, but again,
I really really like what I saw at Shador Sanders.
He did a wonderful job. Again, big up to him
for again being a professional. He didn't say nothing about
his coaches, didn't bad mouth anybody, but he did put
up the roly and said it's about that time. Yes,
So I do like that. So we're gonna take a
(42:23):
quick break. We got a house full of football folks.
I mean, Inland Empire is on fire. We have some

Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (45:19):
Servant one.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Take. This is Coach Being Eternal on Fox Sports Radio
heard in Southern California, Fox Sports Am thirteen fifty. I
am your host, Coach.
Speaker 4 (45:33):
Now, am Yose Eternal right here live in a great
city at Riverside at the iHeartRadio studios, and again we
are having a great time right here, we are having
our media day experience. We have uh three of the
top girls flag football teams, and then we have three
of our are some really really notable Inland Empire football
teams as well. But this gentleman right here, I don't
(45:55):
know how many games they play. I think they played
fifty games last year, set the record for games played
for girls flag football. Coach, please do with the courtesy
of introducing you stuff to our a lot radio audience.
Speaker 9 (46:04):
Aws it going, Coach, Chris Estrada, Western Christian Girls flag
football head coach.
Speaker 4 (46:08):
Thank you so much. Coach. Good stuff right there, coach.
How many games did you guys clock in last year?
I mean, you guys had to be the record.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
I know we had twenty eight games.
Speaker 4 (46:16):
That's good stuff right there. You guys play an amazing schedule.
You guys are always after it number one. Give us
the concept about that, like what's the mentality with your
staff in terms of that that schedule.
Speaker 9 (46:28):
So at least for last year, we only had two
girls on our team that had played flag before, so
it was more about getting them reps. Just getting ready obviously,
like our goal was to get into the playoffs, so
we want to get as many games as possible so
that we were ready to go come playoffs. And then
that's kind of the same same concept this year. Doing
a couple of tournaments this year against in Orange County
and some of those Orange County teams, those were really
(46:49):
we had four losses last year it was all against
Orange County.
Speaker 4 (46:51):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 9 (46:52):
We want to get those reps against those teams just
because we know we're going to play them.
Speaker 14 (46:56):
No.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
I like that, because a lot of teams kind of
shy away from that. They're like, hey, we don't want
to go out there and get forty put up on us.
But you guys embraced that. Obviously, your team last year
was really skilled. Talk to us about what we should
be looking for and this team did you guys have
this year?
Speaker 9 (47:09):
I mean, we got we're missing some starters, so a
couple of the girls that were here last year when
we came, they were in the All Star Game. So
we're missing some leadership from some of our seniors or
captains that left. But we got a young team. We
had a lot of freshmen starting last year, I think
we have you know, thirteen sophomores, twelve for incoming freshmen. Wow,
so we got a lot of under classmen but have experience.
Speaker 6 (47:31):
Yeah, it's gonna be good.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
And it talked to me a little bit because you
had that Bobby Bouten mentality last year anytime anywhere, any
plass but you were a new program. Western Christians maybe
not be a school that people think about when they
think about athletics, but you guys put that school on
the map. Was that your mission to do that and
say hey, we are here.
Speaker 9 (47:50):
Yeah, I mean once I got the opportunity there, Malia
are quarterback obviously, who's my daughter like came in So
all right, we got a team to build around our
quarterback and you know, let's show them like what flag
football is about in the IE. So that was kind
of when we built our schedules, like all right, let's
play all the Illan Empire teams first and then just
kind of solidify you know flags here and yeah went
(48:10):
at Western Christian and then just this year we're building
on that. We're moving out towards Orange County with some
of those teams.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
So when people ask you about your dard you say
that's my quarterback. I love that. So tell me a
little bit about this. Who are you? Do you have
anybody because you're going to play OC teams. I know
you want some get back. Is there anybody on the
calendar you like? I know, I know Roosevelt's on there,
but yeah.
Speaker 9 (48:32):
We got we got Roosevelt. I mean, we haven't got
our schedule yet. We're in the Chargers Invitational next week
in Irvine, so we haven't got our matchups yet, so
we'll see how it shapes out. We're playing in the
Huntington Beaches Tournament at the end of September two, so
we know there's gonna be some good matchups there. But
you know, we just I'm just trying to play whoever
whoever's on that schedule.
Speaker 4 (48:50):
I love right well again, coach, you guys always bring
the heat. I love what you guys do. I love
the program again. You know the WC you got me
right there. That's good that right there. But I know
you have one of your position coaches, but please wait
and bring one of your coaches up and then we'll
have your players come in.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Okay, cool, Thank you guys, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
That's good stuff, right there again Western Christian right here
live on Fox Sports Radio. Coach being eternal again. Coach
of Strata was actually a coach in the All Star
Game last year and they gave did a wonderful job. Coach,
please do it's the courtesy of introducing yourself to our
live radio audience. Yeah.
Speaker 17 (49:18):
Absolutely, this is Oscar Brows, junior and assistant coach defensive
coordinator for now.
Speaker 4 (49:23):
Talk about this program as coach, we mentioned to a
coach of Strata it's it's a smaller school, but you
guys get after it. You guys got a wonderful program.
The young ladies are in there, they're excited. Talk about
what's secial about Western Christian.
Speaker 17 (49:35):
Yeah, I mean, I think that's just it.
Speaker 4 (49:36):
But put my crum.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
We're such a we're such a.
Speaker 17 (49:38):
Small school and to be able to have so much talent,
and as coach Chris explained, you know, only limited amount
of experience that came in last year.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
So really these girls are just athletes.
Speaker 17 (49:48):
And they came and they learned the game. They built together.
They kind of we built on face. We came together
as a family, and it was great to be able
to see how how it exploded. I think the school
didn't really know what to expect, right, and when we're
in the stands now as much as the football team is, yes,
you know, so I think we really came in, you know,
and really established yourself as a program.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
And that's one thing I wanted to ask you, And
I remember when you guys, you guys came out of
nowhere last year and you exceeded my expectation, like you said,
smaller school. But were you surprised at the success because
you guys were one of the two best teams in
the entire Inland Empire and that's big.
Speaker 17 (50:21):
Yeah, no, that's great. And really I have a lot
of confidence in our head coach. So I mean, his dedication,
his you know, promoting of girls Plague football has just
been from the from the get go. So I want
to say I am surprised as far as how the
success was, but I really I'm not. His dedication, his
commitment to be able to get our team built around
the quarterback, like we said, right, seeing her growth. You know,
(50:43):
I've known him since we were twelve years old, so
we were able to kind of come together and see
his success through his life. You know, I can't say
I'm too surprised about it, but you know, it is
something to where you know, we had to kind of
check ourselves as well as far as seeing how quickly
we were able to put some good results together, yes, sir,
and then we went and saw you know, some tougher
competition in the OC, like we mentioned. So that's why
I think Coach has done a great job of being
(51:04):
able to incorporate that and be able to get us
prepared for you for the playoffs this year.
Speaker 4 (51:08):
That's good stuff right there again Fox Sports Radio Coach
being eternal coach, Thank you so much. We're gonna go
ahead and bring some of your players again. We have
Western Christian Girls flag football. They're gonna be a part
of our first ever media day experience. And these young
ladies are rocking and rolling. All right, young lady Cooy,
put that microphone up. She has to smile right now,
but I know when the game goes she's ready to go.
Introduce yourself to our live radio audience.
Speaker 5 (51:28):
Please, hi, am Elia, and I'm a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
All right, young lady playing, I want to make you
put that microphone. I want to make sure the whole
world can hear you real quick. Now, how is I know,
my dad used to coach me. I'm sorry, probably it
is a little bit different, like because you're a young lady.
But my dad used to send me home. He was,
you're not playing good today. Walk home now, talk about
how it is playing it with your dad. I know
your dad's a great coach.
Speaker 5 (51:47):
Well, my dad's been coached me like most of my life,
so like I'm just really used to it, and I
think he's a really good coach.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
Good stuff, right there, coach, that's a good answer. I
got to drive home, hopefully do go to dry queen afterwards.
Speaker 3 (52:00):
He kosha multiple toorks because girls Flag is fairly new?
Or are you fairly new the girls flagg er?
Speaker 5 (52:05):
No, I've been playing girls Flag since for like eight years.
Speaker 3 (52:10):
Really yeah, wow, she's experience. Didn't know. How do you
like playing quarterback and being QB one?
Speaker 5 (52:15):
I like playing quarterback. It's a really fun position to play.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
Right, It's something she's so mild mad. I know she
gets out there.
Speaker 4 (52:22):
He's ready to flips the switch.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
Yeah, to become a Chargers fan.
Speaker 4 (52:25):
Now, Oh, who's your favorite football team?
Speaker 18 (52:28):
The Broncos?
Speaker 3 (52:29):
Oh that was you.
Speaker 4 (52:31):
Got me there, Nixt, I'm not gonna say nothing bad
about it.
Speaker 19 (52:35):
You know, the.
Speaker 5 (52:35):
Broncos because it's just like my dad.
Speaker 4 (52:38):
Likes to Okay, okay, okay, that's why I'm a Cowboys fan,
because my dad likes the Cowboys. And we'll go there.
But again, best of luck this season, young lady. Keep
up the good work. Okay, thank you. There it is
Girls Radio. We have Western Christian Girls Flag football here again.
One of the top teams UH in the Inland Empire.
Last year did a wonderful job, big big expectations this year,
young lady, put that microphone up in a new self
(53:00):
to our live radio audience.
Speaker 18 (53:01):
Please, I am Bailey Osbourne. I'm a safety and wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (53:05):
You're not nervous at all. I like it this good
stuff right there. Okay, So now now for you, is
it offense or defense? Which one do you enjoy playing
the most?
Speaker 19 (53:14):
I don't know whichever one I'm like better at that?
Speaker 3 (53:18):
Which one are you better at?
Speaker 18 (53:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Just the girl, he's a game.
Speaker 4 (53:23):
He's gonna go out there and play. Now. Now did
you play last year?
Speaker 9 (53:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (53:27):
Okay, now for you last year, what was probably one
of your most exciting games? Like when you you played
a team and why was it? What do you think
which one? Which game was it? Last year? You guys
had a lot of them. You have twenty eight of them.
Speaker 18 (53:42):
I don't know. They're pretty good?
Speaker 4 (53:45):
Pretty good?
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Is there?
Speaker 19 (53:46):
Is? There?
Speaker 3 (53:47):
Is there?
Speaker 6 (53:47):
Any?
Speaker 4 (53:47):
Was there any like a big win that you guys
had a team that stands out to you? Last year?
Speaker 18 (53:55):
I don't know, Like we did like pretty good every
single game.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
Well, let me ask you this last year your first
year playing flag?
Speaker 18 (54:02):
No, I didn't. I was playing flag before that.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Last year was your first year of Western right, yeah,
so you scored a touchdown last year? How did that
feel when you scored that first touchdown? She was like,
this is what I do.
Speaker 4 (54:14):
I like that. That's good. That's good. Well, young lady, again,
best selected season. We're gonna be keeping aye on you
because everybody, you know, you guys have a target on
you back. Everybody's gonna trying to play the best football
against you guys, the best elected season.
Speaker 3 (54:24):
Okay, are you a Chargers fan?
Speaker 6 (54:26):
No?
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Who's your favor football team?
Speaker 18 (54:28):
I don't watch the NFL. I watched college.
Speaker 4 (54:30):
Okay, So who's your college team?
Speaker 6 (54:33):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (54:33):
Oh man, do you want to go to North Dame?
Speaker 16 (54:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Okay, you want to go to that's a great.
Speaker 4 (54:40):
School like that. It's all good.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
Best luck this season. Okay, there it is right there,
the young lady. I'm telling you they have a different focus,
but they get it. They get after it.
Speaker 3 (54:49):
And fan, that's hard.
Speaker 4 (54:51):
That did cut me a little bit. That did cut
me a little bit. Notre Damn said, that's tough. Right there,
young lady, put that microphone up. She has a phone.
She's ready, ready, She's like, I cannot get multitask this thing.
Introduce yourself to our librady audience, please, And.
Speaker 19 (55:04):
I played cornerback and wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (55:06):
Okay, okay, now now now let me ask you this
is it. Is it better to throw a touchdown pass
or to catch a touchdown pass? Drum roll?
Speaker 19 (55:14):
Probably catch one.
Speaker 4 (55:16):
Catch one?
Speaker 3 (55:17):
Now.
Speaker 4 (55:17):
Now, now you know the boys when they cut they
cut a touchdown, we act like we've never been there before.
We're throwing, you know, we're doing the dance. We're rolling
over the girls. I mean it's pretty much a slam,
you know. And it's like, so you do you have
a touchdown dance? Is there a celebration thing you got
to do with the girls.
Speaker 19 (55:33):
Give us some contexts we don't really do any celebrations.
I hope to this year though, but we kind of
just like all get together and get excited about it.
Speaker 4 (55:40):
Yeah, okay, okay, now sorry of course.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
So now I was going to say, the way she
came in, she had she was putting on her headphones,
had her phone tucked under her arm. Yes, this is
what's important. I've got to know this when you when
you all got here. Yes, have you guys done your
TikTok in the lobby yet?
Speaker 4 (55:54):
Not yet?
Speaker 8 (55:55):
Okay, She's looking like she's like, hey, phone person, get ready,
you know, get ready.
Speaker 4 (55:59):
She's like see that, She's like, hey, get ready. Okay,
now now real quick, is there a game that stands
out for you? Because again, like I like I was
telling you know, you're telling you other players, everybody's gonna
be looking for you guys this year. Is there a
game that stands out last year that you guys had
a lot of.
Speaker 19 (56:12):
Success success I would say, like, again, that wasn't as
successful as we would wish it to be.
Speaker 18 (56:19):
But we played Olu and it was a really fun game.
Speaker 19 (56:22):
I think that Dantest was just up in general, so
it was fun just because of that, and we didn't
get the outcome we wanted, but in the end, it
was a good game.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
No, I like student body president. Yeah, so when she
runs for president, I'm voting for She's she's clearly team spokespersonal.
I mean, can you see that.
Speaker 4 (56:38):
I like that well, I like the fact she said O,
Lou because again, obviously they're a really good team. You know,
you know, and I know you guys had the guys
were tested during that process. That's good stuff, young lady.
Will get best of luck to you again, keep up
the good work. Can't wait to see you guys the season. Okay,
there it is right there's cotege coach, come up, come up,
we got a minute left. Coach, come on, come on up,
real quick. Great group of young ladies right there. Obviously,
(56:58):
I mean, you know special about those young ladies, coach,
real quick, give me, give us a little rundown.
Speaker 9 (57:03):
They just come to compete every day, whether it's practice
and the games. You know, those three are going to
bring their best game and they're going to bring out
the best in everybody. So just love their intensity and
just their love for the game.
Speaker 4 (57:13):
That's good stuff. And real quick your first game, please,
real quick.
Speaker 9 (57:16):
This Wednesday, it's going to be August thirteenth at Downey High.
Speaker 3 (57:19):
Oh, coach, look at coach, I am a Viking. I'm
sorry but you had me down.
Speaker 4 (57:25):
But I'm sorry, but we'll have the WC on that day.
I try to make sure you get a teacher the sun.
But that's good stuff, coach. Keep up the good work.
You're doing a wonderful job. And again I mean you
are leading to charge and girls flag football and you're
a great ambassadord man. So keep up the good work.
Speaker 3 (57:39):
Okay, thank you, appreciate.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
Yes, Downey has a beautiful stadium. You're gonna love it there, Coach.
You know, I know we got to go, but I'll
ask you that I would have to ask the dad
question because remember my daughter was five, Yes, and she
walked in the parade and I start tearing up seeing
your daughter on there doing presenting herself. So well, are
you okay? Yeah? I mean I get choked up.
Speaker 9 (57:55):
Everyone you start talking about her like awards ceremony after
the season.
Speaker 3 (57:59):
Yeah, I start talking.
Speaker 9 (58:00):
It's like you feel like yeah right right, yeah, yeah,
I'm super proud.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
There you go. You had a great group, obviously a
great great assistant coach as well. You guys are going
to do a wonderful job. Man. Thank you so much
for making yourself available. We're really happy to have you
here for a really historic event that is going to
take place today. So again, thank you so much. Keep
up the great work.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
