sports show on radio, the Coach be An Eternal Show.
And here are your hosts, the Pride of Riverside Eternal
and straight out of Downy Coach B. Gentlemen, it's all yours.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
This is Coach Being Eternal on Fox Sports Radio, Herding,
Southern California.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I'm Fox Sports A thirteen to fifty. I am your host, Coach.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
B, and I am your host Eternal right here live
in the great City of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios
in the great City of Riverside. We do have a
great show for you guys today, and thank you so
much for tuning the Coach B. We have Norco girls
flag football right here live in the house. Excited about that.
(00:49):
As we know, the flag football scene has just been
getting really, really crazy. Just in here talking to coach
for Norco and and he was just saying, look, he
said he had over ninety kids. He went from having
forty five last year and having over ninety kids this year.
So you can really see, Coach B that the sport
(01:12):
is growing major.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, it's good stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
It's good to see the growth in the progression of
flag football.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
You see the young ladies.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
I know, for years they rooted on their brothers and
their siblings and all that, and it's good to see cousins.
It's good to see that they're getting their chance, they're
getting their chance.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
To shine and be in the limelight. And even that
it's now becoming an Olympic sport. So that's all good man.
Look to see the growth. You know, my firstborn was
a girl, so I always love to see it when
the young ladies get their their flowers.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
As they would say, yeah, no doubt about it, man.
So exciting stuff right there. And then today I have
to say, coach B, you know, I'm making my homage
back down to Oxnar again. Big shout out to the
good folks over at visit Oxnar. They were really really gracious.
Again we had we got a chance to talk to
them last week and you seither're doing some really special
(02:03):
stuff for ox Norchel really really great to see and
it's gonna be some exciting stuff going on, man. So
how's the weekend going. What's going on with you, brother B.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
The weekend is good man.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
I had a busy busy last two months, had some
things I had going on. Normally I'd like to go
to Vegas on my birthday, but the wife and I
we were finally gonna make it out there this weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
I was so disappointed because it was the fiftieth birthday
I couldn't go. But it's all good, man. So I'm excited.
The missus has just texted me. Now I'm like, relaxed,
Calm down, We're gonna go catch the what do you
call that? The Mad Apple is a show in Vegas
at the MGM. So I'm excited about that. So it's
always a good thing. It's always good to get away
(02:44):
and go to my second home. And I'm just happy
about that. How everything just lined up and it's good.
You know, it's nice for the Missus and I, Like
I said, I've had a really busy schedule and we
just haven't had a lot of time together.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So it's it's always good to get away.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
That's good stuff right there. And again Fox Sports Radio
Coach being eternal. You can catch us right here Saturday
mornings right here live on the iHeartRadio app. I know, uh,
another thing that's been just been brewing obviously, you know,
you know our Clippers. Well, I said, all I'm gonna
say my Clippers. I know, Coach b said, he said,
you're a free agent.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah, you have a free agent. I am a free agent. Uh.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
But obviously they got Bradley Bell. I don't know how.
I don't know what your thoughts are about that. I mean,
you know, folks are saying it's it's championship team now.
Coach Bill, I don't know. I don't know what your
thoughts are about that. But again, Adam, you know, you know,
obviously you take away the Paul George aspect of it.
He's gone. Uh you know a Norman Uh, Norman pals gone,
which was a really really that was that was tough.
(03:37):
That was a kidney shot right there. But they're bringing
in Bradley Bill. Uh. You know, you know he used
to play for the Wizards, but then you know he
did he did a stint with the Sons.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Not a lot of activity with the Sons. But what
do you feel about the inclusion of Bradley Bill to
the Los Angeles Clippers.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I'll start with it.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Your NBA champions are the Oklahoma City Thunder. The average
age of the OKAC Thunder is twenty five point six.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
So that's that's the issue when you look at that.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
When you look at the average age of the LA
Clippers is thirty three years old, so when you think
about it, they got older.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
So that's the issue with the Clippers.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
And when you have that young team and shayis is
he's coming and and another thing on a greater level,
that Canadian team is going to be hard to deal
with in four years. I want to see how that's
going to go in four years because you think of
everybody on the Olympic team was older, led by Stephen
Curry and Lebron so that a lot of that US
teams gone. So I think the country's caught up. France
(04:39):
is catching up. So when you look at that, and
I say that to say, when you look how young
the OKC Thunder is and they just won a championship
and everyone wants to talk about they're not a great team.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
They won this year. Let them, let them.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Have their moment, let them have their times, because they
keep comparing them to Denver. But but the way that
the NBA now, with these aprons and everything, it's impossible
to keep a team. Because Boston had a solid team
and had to get rid of it because of the injury.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
So yeah, yeah, so no, it's gonna be interesting. I'm
eager to see how that works. But a really good
point about that because again, obviously the you know, folks
are getting younger. I think the average age would okay,
see is like twenty four or something like that. I mean,
you could even be a little younger, so you can
you can see obviously there's a huge difference. But you know,
you know, the hope is that experience plays a big
(05:28):
part and what's going on and those Clippers can finally
get over the hump. You know, you got Zubac out there,
you got the youngster they that brought in. And again,
I mean, when we're talking about youngsters, I would be
remissed Coach b if I didn't mention Carter Bryant, you know,
out there in the summer league really really doing some
great stuff out there. Carter Bryant, again, he is from
(05:50):
a Riverside, a native, and he went to Centennial High School,
did a one year stint over at Arizona and one
and done, and then he is was selected in the
first round to the San Antonio Spurs, beginning a lot
of time, a lot of buzz about him just playing
really really good on the defensive end, which is a
lost art nowadays in basketball.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
Yeah, one thing that I like is there's this clip
going around social media and he's on the bench, he's
miked up, and he talks about his life. I mean,
you could just see he's really beginning to get some buzz.
And he's one of those players that when he came
out of the Ie, you know, you knew he was
a good player, but it seemed like he was, you know,
a regional talent. But now the nation is starting to
(06:31):
see how good that young man really is.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
A one and done and that lets you know what
his talent level is like.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
And speaking of that, you talk about local talent and whatnot.
I don't think she's a Yoko local young lady. But
USC women's basketball just got the number one player in
the twenty twenty six class.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
So I mean USC is.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Stacking help me out? Who is out pull it?
Speaker 3 (06:56):
I'm telling it.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
And as you're talking about that, what you know, our girl,
you know who is really just getting you know, really
getting some buzz right now all the way you know,
our Edawanda girls really getting some buzz as well. So
you're gonna have Juju out there. But you know, but
she's coming off the Achilles, so you know, is she
gonna be ready? I don't know what do we? How
are you feeling about that?
Speaker 3 (07:18):
You know?
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Hopefully she she will be ready, Sonaya Hall. She committed
to USC number one player in the twenty twenty six class. Now, Juju,
the one thing you hope that she's the same. You know,
I'm an old guy. Get off my long guy. I
just turned fifty, yep, and I still remember seeing Dominique
and how bad it was when he popped out of kills. Now,
(07:39):
don't get me wrong, because I have a cousin that
he tore his knee up in the eighties and we
had a conversations.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
He does h VAC.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Now, he actually had to fix my air. My goodness,
if you don't have air in the eye, oh my goodness.
And so he came in he fixed my h VAC,
which was still when you have a wife that has
heat sensitive and she's looking at you like, I don't
do HVAC.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
So my cousin came out and fixed it.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
But we were talking about, you know, all these things
that are going on and he tore up his knee
in the eighties and he has a scar from like
the top of his side to almost his calf.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
On the front of the front side of his knee.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
He said, if this would have happened today, you wouldn't
even see a mark.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
And it's so funny you said that because my guy
had author Scott at knee surgery. I guess that's when
they go in there and do a little scrape and
he's and I'm I said, man, I gotta see it.
I want to see the scar. It was three dots
on them.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah, yeah, that's it.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
That was That was it.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
And I was, I was, it was like, wait, wait,
you went and got knee surgery and that was it.
And he said, yeah, they going there and he said,
you know, and now you know, And that was a
couple of years ago, and now obviously it's gotten way
way different. So so as we're saying again we're talking
about USC women's basketball last year, they were competitive. Again,
we were talking our girl Kennedy Smith, who we've covered
in very very great detail for the last two years,
(08:50):
coming from Edelwanda High School and then that was her
first year over at USC, and she just did a
wonderful job. She was like the sixth man. And then
then she started starting. And now you know, with Juju
potentially being out at least half of the season, Coach
b you would think coming off an Akilz injury, you know,
you never know, you know, but at least I would
think at least half of the season. Now you're gonna
(09:11):
see a lot more Candy Smith out there, and you
could you know, hey, it's a starting to make it
right now.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yes, I hope so.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
And the one thing that I liked when when when
Kennedy Uh when when it was unfortunate that Juju went
down and USC was still in the tournament because they
were still playing.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
This happened happened in the tournament, and you can.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
See Kennedy look like she was ready for the moment.
You see, of course fail, but you can see Kennedy.
She didn't seem rattled, she didn't seem nervous. And you
can think that that.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
That goes back What I thought is that goes back.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
To coach stand no question and when coach Stan says, hey,
we we play a tough uh schedule.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
I mean that's travel.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Yeah, they traveled they would go all over that that
one Juggernaut they go to in Arizona.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yes, so section seven if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
And that's the one thing.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
And and you know, I've got to give Colin Cowell
heard his flowers. I've got to say this because the
one thing about it what he said, and this is true.
At first, you know, I love USC football, and when
they talked about getting rid of the USC Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Match, I was upset. I was a tradition, it's history.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
But but when you look at it now, the Big twelve,
excuse me, Big ten is doing what the SEC does.
When the guy from our Indiana was like, hey, we're
going to schedule lighter, he said, when you look at
the games that the SEC plays when it's non conference,
they'll play.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
The Citadel, no question. So why the games is so
hard that the schedule is already as you're alluding to this,
the schedule is so tough already you don't want to
go out there and be playing Juggernauts at week after week.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Exactly, Then when you don't have to Exactly, USC has
to go play Penn State, they have to go play
Ohio State, they have to go play Michigan.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
They have to go play Indiana and and and yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Even when you play like a team like a Nebraska,
those they don't like the California.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
So when you when you come there, they're like, give
you the business, no question. And I mean they got
him pinned up on the locker. They're talking about it
didn't go get those Sunshine kids you know where you know,
And again I'm familiar with that. You know my family,
I have a lot of family that's from the Omaha area,
and that's what they look at us, like, you know,
those guys over there like run a different planet or something.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
So yeah, my family loves Mississippi State. They live they
live closer to Southern miss but they love Mississippi State
because it's a power school. Like I was talking to
a guy the other day and he was talking about
the rivalry games and and you know c V versus India,
and he was saying how when they were on the
side on the in the goal line. He said, people
would throw batteries at us and all this and all that.
But nowadays these kids play seven on seven.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
They know each other, they're friendly.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
When I was in high school, there was a basketball
court in the city not to go in the tangent. Again,
I sound like the old guy. But it was a
basketball court in the middle of the city of Downey.
And when we would show up, Warren would show up.
I can't believe I said their name. We didn't even
pick teams.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
We say, okay, that's your squad, this is our squad.
Let's go. There's no need to pick teams because we're
not going to play on the same team.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
And that's what that rivalry was. Real deal. That reminds
me of like Ramona Polly, you know what I mean, even.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
School traditional is that the traditional rivalry and.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
The riverside that's Ramona Polly is the traditional rivalry is
Now we don't really get as much of it. But
then you have was Ramona looking man, Well, you know,
Ramona's looking good. I'm gonna have the coach come on.
You know, we've been talking to him. You know, they
they they're out there looking good. I mean, it's going
to be very very difficult for them to you know,
for them to surpass you know, what they did this
(12:24):
last season. But again, I've been looking at some of
the kids. I've been seeing them, and I know some
of the kids personally, some of their parents, and you know,
they got a strong squad. You know, again, they're going
to lose that line. They're not gonna be as bulky
as they were last year, but we're gonna see what
they got going on. Coach over there, he's doing a
Coach Mashinsky, big shout to coach Mashinsky's over there. John
Tibbolde ad doing some wonderful work over there. But I'm hoping,
(12:46):
I'm hoping my Ramona rams could do something similar.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
They were ten and one five and on the River Valley.
So that is a lot to step.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Yes it is. Yes, it is man so you know.
And again you know, you know, and no telling if
they get moved up or something like that too. Coach,
you never know because they know c if the way
it goes, if you perform well, they mess around might
move you up some.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
So well, yeah, they may do that. The only loss
I think was in a Plaza Real Hondl Prep. That
was a playoff game that they lost to. But you
I mean they were so they were regular.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Season one defeated what what what?
Speaker 3 (13:18):
They slapped around j W.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
North slapped around Arlington, slapped around Hillcrest talked to the Polly.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
That was a tight game for them, twenty one to sevenes.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
And all that out. And like I said, that is
the rivalry right there. That I mean, you know again
that that that Ramona Polly, Polly North. You know, especially Arlington,
Oh god, like Arlington.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
They were battle tests. They beat Rancho Moross twenty seven
twenty six. That's a tough game Inorda Vista Ruba Valley.
So they beat Rubert out Patriot. So anybody who was
residing in the Greater Riverside area, they were saying, you can,
you can come.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
You can, you could come. Get the smoke. So yeah,
so I'm again, look you got me fired up. Now
I'm over your sweat right now. But again, yeah, my
Rams looking good. And like I said, it's gonna really
really difficult to replicate that this season. But again I'm
hearing some great things from the land of the Rams,
and so we'll be the chance to talk to them soon.
But what we're gonna do, We're gonna transition into girls
(14:12):
flag football, coach, be the sport that is blowing up.
I mean, if you guys don't know, Girl's flag is
one of my mentors. Big shout out to del Roberts.
He said, Eddie, if you don't get on, if you
don't get on this girl's flag football train, I said,
a brother, Dal, We're already on it, already, we're doing
our things. So again, please do not move a muscle.
We're gonna come coming up in just a quick second.
We're gonna have Norco girls flag football coming in right
(14:34):
here live in studio. Again. You are listening to Coach
B and Eternal. I am your host Eternal.

Speaker 3 (15:16):

Speaker 7 (15:22):
This is Alexander Madison.
Speaker 8 (15:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports AM thirteen fifty.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
We are.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
This is Coach being eternal on Fox Sports Radio heard
in Southern California, Fox Sports Am thirteen fifteen.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
I am your host, Coach B.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
And I am the host eternal right here live in
a great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios. And
again we are right here with some very very special guests. Again,
thank you guys all for listening tuning in. Coach, please
do us the courtesy of introducing yourself to our live
radio audience.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
Thank you for having me here.
Speaker 9 (16:02):
This is Coach Lockett, head coach Girls norc Old Flag Football.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
There it is right there. Coach again, man, the pleasure
to have you in again. It's great to see what
you guys are doing with the program out over there.
Off the year. We were just talking about how much
this sport is growing. Uh, you know we we kind
of caught the train over there with Coach Constable over
at Roosevelt. She said, she said, hey, you guys got
(16:27):
to get this thing going, you know, you know, work
with these young ladies. The sport is growing. In my goodness.
What she right? Talk about your experience last year and
kind of bring us up to speed where you guys
are right now.
Speaker 9 (16:37):
Pull that microphone up, Yes, last year. This is probably
this is my third year. First year was my first
year was the experience. Second year was a growing process
that we had to go with the team, especially coming
from me. I'm coming from Chacol football.
Speaker 7 (16:54):
Yes, have to learn all the rules for girls flag football.
Third year.
Speaker 9 (17:00):
Last year we started off good and end up I'm
having some ups and downs. That towards the end, we
in a tough lead with Stennios, Roosevelt, Santiago Corona and
that out of our lead, everybody made it to the
playoff last year.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
So we finished the last last.
Speaker 9 (17:20):
Year, but we still went to the playoff because we're
still on strength to schedule.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Yes, and then our winning record.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
So for for some playoffs we we beat Interior Christian
and then we lost second round to South Hill, So okay.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
And you know, and again talk about the programs out here,
because we were just talking again a little bit off
their about how different the programs are here Inland wise
and versus what you see out there in the o C.
Really really competitive out there. Talk about the difference place.
Speaker 9 (17:51):
Difference out there in Orange County is they've been doing club.
They've been doing club longer than us. Right now, I'm
starting to get into club trying to give provide camps
out here. As a matter of fact, we're doing a
camp at Norco High School August the second, on that
Saturday from six to nine. It's pretty much trying to
like showcase all the girls and I'm so.
Speaker 7 (18:13):
Good these girls to look from colleges.
Speaker 9 (18:15):
Yeah, but the big difference is the travel team out
there in Orange County and right now we're kind of
behind with the club stuff. So it was picking up,
but Orange County is way ahead.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, and they are.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
But how great is it that the CIF has finally
got on the train and they've made it official. I
know they were kicking around some ideas, they were trying
to make a cheer an official sanction for sports, but
they finally realized flag football is the way to go.
What about that growth that you've seen, because I know
San Bernardino was behind and so you guys are ahead
of sabern Adino. They were behind before it became a
(18:49):
sanctioned sport. But talk about that growth and how fast
you guys are gone.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
This is your number three?
Speaker 7 (18:52):
Correct?
Speaker 9 (18:53):
Yes, this year number three, But the second year for CIF.
Last year was the first.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Year with ninety kids. Yeah, kids, our young ladies excuse me, ladies. Yeah,
but the difference is yeah, the growth. It's like we
had to do first trials, we only had like forty kids.
Speaker 7 (19:10):
Second year it ended up jumping to like fifty. This
past season we had like ninety ninety kids.
Speaker 9 (19:19):
So you look at a program like Roosevelt, they probably
had like two hundred and wow thirty kids because they
have five thousand at Theay School. So we Little Oracle
with two thousand kids. But we still make it work
with the kids that we have. But that's that's what
you see the growth. And like you was mentioned them
with piggyback on that, Sam Bernardino is catching up, you know,
(19:39):
because it's hard to get coaches. Some of these kids
are playing different sports, right you know.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Yeah, and that's it's no please, you.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Know what I'm saying. It's it's becoming an Olympic sport.
And I know that that's coming and that's going to grow.
But talk to me a little bit about your journey.
When when you first got in.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
This, when you say, let's talk about your side, it
was flag something you were interested.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
I know you did, and you're passionate. We saw you
at the All Star game. We had great conversations with you.
You were there for the for the young ladies game.
Then when the tackle football game you disappear coaching.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
You were there.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
I'm here to get involved with this flag.
Speaker 7 (20:10):
Yes, flag is. It's amazing.
Speaker 9 (20:12):
Man. I coached back in the days with Gary Campbell
and Non Crow and also Todd Gearhart, and.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
I've been around. I've been there in Norcoe twenty years.
So old school.
Speaker 9 (20:24):
So when I seen the side of the football, then
I switched over to the girls. When they presented me
the head coaching job, I didn't know what I was
getting into. But the thing about the girls, anything you
tell them, they soaked.
Speaker 7 (20:35):
It up like spun. Wow.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Not my daughter.
Speaker 9 (20:41):
With some of the guys when they get to their
junior and senior year, they think they know it all
and you can't tell them nothing.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
So my sons.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Yeah, so you said the girls are coachable.
Speaker 9 (20:52):
Yeah, they're very coachable, work hard, no attitude if they do.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
Me and my buddy coach Kim, we like we like
pop a beer out.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
I heard that check them's good stuff. Good stuff. And
again right here live with Fox Sports Radio, we have
Norco Girls Flank football in the house now real, we're
gonna bring your your support coach up here as well. Yes,
but talk about this, I mean you kind of alluded
to it. You are just I mean, your your league
is just a monster league. Obviously last year you guys
eight and eight one in Feign League. But just I
(21:21):
mean that league, you guys, and it's just I mean,
obviously Roosevelt being one of the top teams really in California,
But just talk about that league. How do you kind
of have to get your girls mentally prepared for that competition?
Speaker 9 (21:32):
Yes, you just got to pretty much start doing scrimmages.
And right now, since they changed the rules, now they
you can blitch for one yard. Before it was like
seven yards. Got to raise your hands, So see how
you have changed the rules on that you can blitch
for one and also they added punt.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
Don't see girls out there doing punk return. Nice. So
we've been.
Speaker 9 (21:53):
Working on our special team and special team is going
to be a part part of this game.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
And you sit back and watch these girls catching punk
return and it's going to be great.
Speaker 9 (22:01):
So they're adding things to the game where now it
was pretty much seven on seven high scoring.
Speaker 7 (22:06):
But now since they had the blitz from one yard.
Speaker 9 (22:09):
It's going to be kind of like low scoring but
still going to be exciting. But yeah, that's that's gonna
be a big key.
Speaker 7 (22:16):
I like to see if did with that. Some coaches
don't because they want to air it out. Yes, I
want the scores up in the forties and fifties.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Yeah, yeah, I can go both ways exactly.
Speaker 7 (22:26):
Maybe you got to make it.
Speaker 9 (22:27):
It made you change your you'll play calling gotta be
short passed, run, short.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Pass slash, yeah style routes West Coast style.
Speaker 9 (22:37):
Yeah, you can run the ball. You know you can block,
but your hands got to be behind your back. You
can't use your hands.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
So whoa wait, wait, wait, hold on a second. Now,
tell us how that block it mean, because because that's
that's some coaching right there. Now, tell us a little
bit about that blocking. How does that work?
Speaker 9 (22:53):
Well, it works like me and my coach right here,
coach Kim Kirkley, and he's a girl's head coach basketball.
So we're teaching the girls and also, oh like I
paid them. Yeah, it's pretty much like you shoutown behind
your back and you just got to shadow.
Speaker 7 (23:06):
Can't push them.
Speaker 9 (23:07):
Wow, and just got to get in their way. Yes,
the running backs got to make their cuts and make
their reads so interesting. But we're teaching like your basketball
stay like, hey, you're playing man the man and behind
your back, you know.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
Follow follow that person.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
When you see all those highlights online, I wish they
would teaching kids that way because when you see these clips,
these kids are holding, you know, and then you have
these coaches celebrating, it's like that would be a that
would be a flag and then they're cheering it and
they're celebrating yes, and there's no pressure on the quarterback
so he can sit there for fifteen minutes and throw
a pass like who's defending a receiver that long?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
But it let me get off myself by Yeah. No, no,
that's gonna be good. That's gonna be good. Again. We're
here a live Fox Sports radio coach being turned that.
We have coach Lockett right live right here, live in studio.
So coach, let's go ahead. We're gonna bring your assistant
coach in. Uh, let's go ahead and bring the gentleman
in again. We're really excited about this upcoming season. We
got Norco girls flag football. Uh, the sport is really
taken uh by storing. Coach put the microphone and you.
Speaker 3 (24:00):

Speaker 4 (24:08):
To go, ready to go, he's ready to go, ready
to go, he's ready to Coach, introduce yourself to a
live radio audience.
Speaker 7 (24:14):
Please, this is coach Kirkland.
Speaker 8 (24:15):
That Norco High girls flag football again.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
Coach, thank you so much for being the studio again.
Coach again as you and Coach Lockett no strangers to Norco.
You guys have been there for a minute. Talk about again,
what are you How are you feeling about this season?
Speaker 7 (24:28):
Trent?
Speaker 4 (24:28):
Getting these girls ready to go? You know, we're talking
about the blocking schemes and everything that have to go
into it. Talk about how you're feeling about the season
right now.
Speaker 8 (24:35):
I'm feeling pretty good about it.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
The girls.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
I'm very impressed with the girls that we have. They
are They're surprising me because I'm here's a young group,
the freshmans and sophomores, and we're going to be young
and like I said, that's a good thing. So that's
going to carry on for another.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Couple more years.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Fantastic because we so what are you excited most about
this year?
Speaker 3 (24:57):
I mean we're going into year three.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
You have played said, I'm sure you have returners that
you don't have to start from ground zero. What are
you looking to to implement this year and what's your
measure for success?
Speaker 8 (25:08):
Well, if I'm just looking at if we get back
to the playoff again and go further deep in the.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Playoffs, right, yes, right, excellent, good stuff. We're excited about that.
There's something in the water in Norco.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Now, let me tell you something about that. And again
I have to ask you because again I talked to
coach locking about this. Just talk about that that gigantic
uh skeltery you guys have with me right there. Everybody
is so competitive right there in your immediate area, as
coach said, you got Norco, got Corona, Corona, Santiago obviously
Roosevelt right there, very very competitive. Talk about that schedule.
Speaker 8 (25:40):
Well, you know, it's just the nature of the beast.
We have a very competitive in an empire and a
lot of talent out here, so that's going to be expected. Yeah,
and you just have to deal with it. And that
just comes with the territory.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
That's part of this part of the makeup right there.
That's good stuff right there. Again, Coach, thank you so
much to be in the studio. What we're gonna bring
your team in a just a quick second. Here we're
gonna go to break again. We're right here live in

original taco and a cherry cold with locations all throughout

Speaker 4 (27:36):
B Now, I am your host eternal right here live
in a great city of Riverside at the iHeart Radio Studios.
And again we are here with very very special guests,
Norco Girls Flag Football. Young lady, please do it the courtesy.
Put that bacrophone up. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Please,
good morning.
Speaker 10 (27:53):
My name is Maya Ariola. I'm the quarterback for Narco
High School's flag football. We've been playing for three years
and I've been the quarterback for all three years.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
So you're you're a veteran, you're one of the veterans
coming back then, yeah, yeah, good stuff. Now talk about this.
I mean, you guys are number one when we watch
We've been doing the all star game for two years now,
actually no, yeah, two years now and very very competitive.
I mean even with the boys game right there, the
girls are getting I mean everybody, hey, we want to
(28:22):
watch the girls play. What do you think is really
special about girls flag football?
Speaker 10 (28:27):
I think it's special because, like it gives girls a
like way to showcase their talent without being like outshined.
I feel like a lot of boys like take it
and be like they can just do all this crazy stuff.
But girls take it to a whole other level. They're
so much more competitive and they have something to prove.
So it's just it's so much more inspiring to watch.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Good stuff, coach me.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Now you play lacrosse as well, Yeah, so, so, so
what's the differences from because lacrosse is I don't know,
is it contact, is it physical.
Speaker 10 (29:01):
It's like semi contact, it's not.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
There's not a lot of it.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
But got you, got you?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
So when you're in that pocket, when you're are you
going through your progressions? What are you looking for with
your your receivers when they're out there.
Speaker 10 (29:11):
When I'm looking at like my receivers, I'm just trying
to find like a hole to like throw the ball into.
It's not I'm not trying to throw it at them.
It's more of like a like I'm like guessing where
they're going to be at. I have to have so
much chemistry with my receivers and that just goes a
lot with like the bonding of the team. And I
feel like we really have that this year and I'm
really excited to showcase.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
That that that sounds like a quarterback. Now, is there
any any of your teammates Do they ever come back
to the Heddle state.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I'm open, you know they're not.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
You saw those eyes roll right there. She's like, everybody's open.
Now talk now ask them because are again you're the quarterback?
Speaker 7 (29:46):
Now?
Speaker 4 (29:46):
QB one, QB one. Now, you guys have a very
competitive schedule. It's it's tough out there. I mean, and
I'm sure you see those girls that Stater brothers arouse,
you know when you go to shopping. Now, talk about
what's the conversation like amongst the players about you know,
playing Roosevelt, playing Centennial, what's the conversation among you guys
about that?
Speaker 10 (30:04):
I feel like we just talk about more of just
being humble. It's all about being like your player. You
have to play how you play. You can't get in
your head about it doesn't matter if they're better than you,
if they showcase that they're better than they beat a
team that you didn't beat, like you lose to them.
It's how you play, It's how you care yourself, it's
how you play as a team.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
You have to just focus on your game because I
see I see student body president.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Right, yeah, you can see why she's QB.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
One, no doubt about it. Yeah, absolutely, young lady. Again,
best election. They can't dress that they are ready to
bright eye bushy. Tell everybody that's what that's what's different
about the guys.
Speaker 11 (30:37):
Guy.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Look y'all gonna make these guys step their game up
right here, young lady, best of luck to you. Keep
up the good work and when we can't wait to
see the season. Okay, so there it is Fox Sports
Radio right here live Fox Sports Radio. Again. We have
Norco girls flag football and coach B. Like we said,
this sport is just on fire right now, put that
microphone up, young lady. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Please, Hello everyone.
Speaker 12 (30:57):
My name is Samantha Garage. I'm number twenty one on
THEE and I play linebacker and wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Now okay, now you have a smile on now. But
I've watched you young ladies, but not you guys specifically,
but I watched you guys play. You guys are fierce
out there. Now do you put on the eye paint
and how do you do it?
Speaker 12 (31:12):
Oh? Yeah, I totally get my game face on, ready
to play, and I'm a dog out there, like I
will do my best and put all my effort out
on that field.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
That's good stuff, coach, and pronounce your last time again garage.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Okay, got it, got it. So you're a multi sport
athlete as well. Yes, remember your coaches. No, you play
a couple of sports. Remember your coaches here. So you
play a volleyball and beats volleyball.
Speaker 12 (31:36):
Yeah, I've played a whole bunch of Norcio varsity sports
throughout high school.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Well, excuse me, I was a scrub.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
I'm an athlete.
Speaker 12 (31:47):
I started off with volleyball. Then I wanted to change
it up a little bit, so I went to track.
I really love running, so that's probably my most dominant sport.
But I've also played water polo.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Oh wow, you are an athlete, and I've.
Speaker 12 (32:02):
Been playing flag now for two years. So I think
this sport is really cool and it's a really fun
way to interact with all the girls in my area. Track,
I run the four hundred and two hundred.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Okay, so event you So you're a linebacker, right, so
you're basically telling the QB I'm gonna be there.
Speaker 12 (32:20):
I'm gonna be there.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
No, real quick, we're gonna ask you that the final
question real quick and we'll let you go. But now,
tell us everybody what's special about Norco girls black football.
Speaker 12 (32:30):
I think the most special thing about our team is
that we get along very well. We're a nice group
of girls, and everyone just has a grand all time.
And I think that's really important to have good chemistry
between teammates because in reality, that's like the thing that's
gonna matter the.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Most good stuff.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Right there, I want to ask the jerseys are nice?
What are you rocking with the jersey? How are you
acciting that jersey?
Speaker 12 (32:54):
You know, my coach, coach Wayne hates this, but I
wear some Neon green cleat.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
And gloves.
Speaker 12 (33:02):
Definitely will see me out there.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Okay, I love that was funny.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
She called me off guard with that one Neon green cleat. Now,
now what what what you know? We're gonna you know,
we're not doing any endorsements right now, but tell us
what what?
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (33:15):
What? What brand of please? Those are the Adidas?
Speaker 12 (33:19):
Okay, yeah, well he's kind of against the whole I'm
so sorry, but.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
You like those shoes they don't have and Nike so
we gotta we gotta work on getting you some green joints. Okay,
there it is right there. Run your sea Like, yeah,
I say my Adidas. She was like, I have no
idea what that keep up to do?
Speaker 7 (33:38):
Work.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Thank you so much for being the studio with U.
Right there there it is Norco Flag Football again, Fox
Sports Radio Coach being eternal and again these young ladies
are right here live in studio. If you got it.
If you haven't heard about girls flag football, where have
you been, young lady? Put that microphone up. Introduce yourself
to our live radio audience.
Speaker 13 (33:52):
Please, Hi, everybody. My name is Ariana Cheney. I am
a number twenty three on the field and I do center.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Okay, now, center, let me tell you something. You ladies
are down there again again. You guys are smiling, which
is always interesting because boys are coming here and they
got the game based on early in the morning. They're like,
you know early, but you're smiling. But I know center,
you're out there. You're almost like an extension of the
quarterback out there. Talk about how you enjoy playing that position.
Speaker 13 (34:18):
I really enjoy playing playing center because I've been playing
it for about eight years and I feel like it
starts the whole like the whole game. Like if there's
no center, you can't play. Yeah, and so center is
kind of like the build foundation besides the quarterback of
the team coach.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
Basically, now are there times where your quarterback is clapping,
clapping her hands hand snap the ball? You're like, hold up,
we gotta get set because I would see that that
the center in the quarterback where they always get in
with each other.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Hey, it's not time to snap it yet. You know
my guard wasn't set. Are those conversations you guys have.
Speaker 13 (34:52):
Yeah, So I feel like me and my quarterback have
a good understanding of I set the players and then
she hikes it because when if you're offline, we're then
it's an all fall start and you got to move back.
So I make sure everybody's on the line. Then I
look back at her and then she hikes it.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
There you go. That's so you're on it. I like,
now real quick, now with the boys, the alignment are
the smartest guys on the team. Would you say that
is the same situation in girls flat football. I don't
want you to get you I mean you got I
mean you gotta go back to the locker room today.
But tell everybody, do you feel like that's the same
situation with girls? Flag?
Speaker 13 (35:25):
Well, so I have experience in tackle football. I played
it for a year, so I was alignment as well.
So I know that you do your job or you
just don't. It does doesn't get done. So either I
do center job and I do it the way that
I need to do it and complete my task, or
it's just we're done.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
All right this, young lady, what's your GPA?
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Five point.
Speaker 13 (35:47):
I have a three point six four pointimes what.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
I'm talking it's a mile beyond what I had.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
That's like, I'm just like three higher than my had
a point six.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
I just worked on being eligible, young lady. Best the
luck to you you guys again, Norco a tough, tough league,
but again I just love the spirit. Make best luck
to you the season.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
I want to know, what are you rocking with the jersey?
Speaker 4 (36:08):
You think you know?
Speaker 13 (36:11):
I'm keeping a classy nice white and black nikes.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Okay, gloves with stars there?
Speaker 4 (36:15):
You know I love stars because of Dallas Cowboys. Like
she's like, no, this is cute. Little stars?
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Did be dazzled one? Yeah, it's all glittering.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Good stuff right there, young lady. Best of luck to
you the season. Okay, there're is Fox Sports Radio. We're
right here live with girls Norco girls flag football. These
young ladies are coming in here. They are just high,
high energy and radio young lady, put that microphone up.
Introduce yourself to our live radio audience, please.
Speaker 11 (36:44):
And I'm a DV and I'm also running back okay,
and I also play soccer and I run hurdles for track.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Wow, whoa, whoa wow. Now, now you tell you something.
Hurdlers are a different read an athlete. You know. I
mean I ran track and I used to look at
those guys run hurdles, and I mean something about my
ego and my pride would not let me just fathom
me hitting that hurdle and just skinning face first. Now,
and when you're a hurdler that comes with the sport.
(37:17):
Have you had a face plant yet? Running hurdles?
Speaker 11 (37:20):
Not a face plant? But it was actually prelim finals
where I was like last spot, I was laying a
and I was just like, let's get this done. And
I trip over the first hurdle. But I still but
that actually was like a good learning experience for me
because I got right back up and I finished the race.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Wow.
Speaker 11 (37:38):
And I ran through all ten hurdles. So in my
pr is a seventeen point like five okay, so still
finish the race within like twenty seconds.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Wow, look at you? Well again, that takes. That's courageous
right there, because let me tell you, some hurdles are
no small fee. And sometimes people did when they fall,
they just put their hands on their face and they
cry and dundale. But I did. I did that.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
I love it. So what are you looking to do
this year?
Speaker 7 (38:09):
This year?
Speaker 3 (38:10):
You said your second year playing FLA? This is my
second year, So what are you looking to improve year
over year? And on your skills and flag?
Speaker 11 (38:16):
Definitely my communicating and I had the second most picks
last year.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
I want to be the first.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
There you go, Okay, okay, I hope.
Speaker 10 (38:26):
I'm able to do that.
Speaker 11 (38:27):
But I do want us to all communicate on defense
and because if you're like that was kind of a
problem last year. But this is a new year and
I know my girls will.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
We'll get it done.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Now.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
One thing about DBS.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
You guys watch film, you study film, do you look
at the tendencies of the receiver to well, you look
the way they place their feet or the way they
stands to.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Know the balls coming to them.
Speaker 11 (38:46):
Yeah, we look at the hips the way they like
are like kind of lining up. And I do look
at like how their eyes because some people are kind
of new to it, just like like okay, I gotta
go there.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
So I'm like, okay, you're going.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Right right right.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
And that's the around the spot.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
That's the thing that people don't realize. When you're a dB.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
You have to look at the tendency, like look at
their feet, their place, and you've always telling they're going
to get the ball because they're a little.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
More amped, no, no doubt about it. Good stuff right there,
now real quick. Now, you guys have a very competitive schedule.
Was just talking to your quarterback about like, I know,
you guys see your teammates over at the grocery store. Now,
how do you feel about when you guys play those
big time teams, you know, the rolls of elst the Centennials.
How do you guys feel in the locker room.
Speaker 11 (39:23):
So I kind of take what we take from soccer
because with soccer, like my captain for soccer, she she
did because she's a great younger than me. And when
we played like Roosevelt and like Santiago, like she had
us all have the like energy like she came up
to She's.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Like screaming in our faces.
Speaker 11 (39:42):
We're playing them today, Like I love it. So that's
what I want to take in the flag like. It
doesn't matter who we're playing. We're here to play you now.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Because I know you had the question about that the gear.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, what are you rocking? How you accentuating
that jersey? I love the jerseys by the way.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Great, I just have old black soccer cleats.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Hey hey, no soccer cleans. Get it done. He's like, hey, yeah,
because you're running all over the places things, So yeah,
you're ready to go.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
You're getting all those interceptions, so keep up.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
To go work, young lady. Best elect to you this season. Okay,
there it is right there. Fox Sports Radio. We are
right here live in studio with noorco Girls, Flag Football
and coach Beat. These young ladies are just you know again,
this sport is just blowing up. Young they put that
microphone out. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Please,
good morning.
Speaker 14 (40:27):
My name is Maya Lopez. I'm number twenty two on
the field and I'm an insideline backer.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
Fantastic, Now I was. I was asking some of your
your players, some of your your teammates, excuse me, what
is special in your opinion about Norco girls flag football?
Speaker 14 (40:42):
And my opinion, what is the most special about our
program is our relationship with our coaches. I just noticed
compared to other schools, we have a very healthy relationship
with our coaches. We can talk to them freely about
things on the field or off the field, and we
just know that there's always someone that's going to have
our at the end of the day, whether or not.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
It is something to do with Oh, fantastic, young lady
is all over right here, Yes she is.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
Now Here's a funny, interesting fact I want to talk about.
When I was driving up this morning, I saw a
huge truck sitting in the parking lot and I saw.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
You hop out. And I've talked to us a little
bit about that truck.
Speaker 7 (41:17):
What do you drive?
Speaker 14 (41:19):
Drive seventeen?
Speaker 11 (41:23):
Right? It is? Yes?
Speaker 4 (41:25):
Tell everybody, no hold on, coach real quixcuse me? Tell
everybody how tall you are hopping out of that big
old one thing.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
I'm five five, there you go, So so do you
have to like open the door and jump in, or well,
I mean.
Speaker 14 (41:37):
I have a little step, so okay, like it's easy for.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Me right right. And I asked you the question, I says,
is that your dash truck?
Speaker 4 (41:44):
What was your answer?
Speaker 3 (41:45):
No, it's mine.
Speaker 12 (41:46):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (41:48):
I love that, she said, bosting all the way up
that thing.
Speaker 14 (41:51):
Or I would definitely say it's an Orcot thing, but
also I would say it's a me thing. You gotta
take a little bit of that.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
I like it.
Speaker 7 (41:57):
I get.
Speaker 3 (41:59):
I tell you she's a little five five. You know,
it just threw me off.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
I'm totally getting because that's not what you're expecting to
hop out the one fifty. That's good stuff right now. Now,
now real quick talk about again. You guys are preparing
right now for this season. How's the preparation going. What's
the mood at practice right now? For Norco Growth Flag.
Speaker 14 (42:18):
I would say the mood right now is just overall
just we bring the energy right now. We're all super
happy and super excited to be there. And I think
right now, at least my main priority is getting to
know the newer players and also getting pulled up to
varsity this year, getting to know players that have already
been there. I was the captain of JV last year,
and so my hope for this year is just to
(42:40):
bring that same energy and set that same example. And
really I'm just trying to get out there and show
all the girls what I'm made of and let them
know that I'm here for them on and off the field,
just like our coaches. And I am a junior this year.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
If that was your she's like, that's a good stuff
for young ladies. Best at luck to I know, coach,
don't know.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
I know when you have the truck. I know you've
got style. So what are you doing?
Speaker 4 (43:05):
Rock the utiful? So I like to wear like I
keep it all white.
Speaker 14 (43:09):
My mouth guard's white, my gloves are white, and I'm
wearing don't careful Nike, but I'm wearing well.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
Okay, So we gotta we gotta, we gotta work on Nike,
getting all some some shoes that y'all like. Over there.
The jerseys are nice, there are The jerseys are really nice.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Were you impressed when you saw them? Was it approved
by your style?
Speaker 14 (43:28):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (43:29):
Good stuff right there again. Fox Sports Radio love it.
These young ladies are really special. Young lady. Best of
luck to you. Guys. Okay, and again you guys are
coaching obviously, have a real sharp group of young ladies.
But the best luck to you this season. Okaypox Sports.
But we're gonna bring coach lock it back in and
again I mean these young I mean, Coach b you'd
brought me on the radio my junior year in high school. Oh,
I probably got suspended the next day.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
I mean, it's so funny when when we were in
the parking lot, I saw her, I saw that big
truck that sit there, and she jumped out of there.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
I would have trouble getting in that truck, but I'm
a midget best.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Trying to pull a pull something. Coach a coach like
a Wow, what a special group you guys again, really really,
I mean these young ladies astoop all over it. You
can see the energy. I mean that that has to
be really help you out with your job.
Speaker 7 (44:15):
Yes, it does.
Speaker 9 (44:15):
And group a good group of young ladies, very educated.
I just love the way they just carried themselves and
me and coach can we do security at Norco?
Speaker 7 (44:26):
We stay on them, you know, We're stay on them
like full time, you know, off the field and on
the field.
Speaker 9 (44:32):
So you know, we look at their character and the
way they carry themselves, and so you know, like coach Kimfay,
it's all about life lessons to get these girls ready.
Speaker 7 (44:41):
For the real world.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
Good stuff.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Absolutely, and being on campuses that helped.
Speaker 5 (44:45):
Now because now this is one thing, this is the
one thing that when I think about the recruiting wise.
You know, just three years ago, if someone would have
said young ladies could get recruited.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
To go to college, flash, but they probably would have
last laughed.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
But like Norco College has a really a good flag
program and all the programs are and that's in your backyard.
So how exciting is that as you a coach to
see these girls get free education?
Speaker 7 (45:08):
We love it.
Speaker 9 (45:08):
Man, there's another avenue where you know they you know,
especially when they playing their main sports. Is just giving
them another outlet to get noticed in another sport. That's
why I'm doing the camp on Saturday, August August the second,
on a Saturday. We got local colleges com in, like
Norco College I reached out to. We got a confirmation
(45:28):
out there with lots of Irvine Valley. Where's Sammy Logan,
Sammy Logan Logan's daughter. Yes, yeah, Matt, Yeah, coming, so
trying to get these kids exposure, you know, to to
take it to the next level.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
Again, coach, you're doing a wonderful job over there. And
again like it's it's it's special that you guys are
able to be in this position again with all that
competition over there. And again obviously you have a good
group of young ladies just ready and prepared to go
to that next level real quick. Obviously have the camp.
I want you to make sure you mentioned that a game,
but also let our audience know your first game and
(46:03):
then uh, you know, and where they can kind of
see you guys.
Speaker 9 (46:06):
Yes, our first game is August eleventh against Rancho Cucamonga.
Speaker 4 (46:09):
Well well, oh yeah, we know the coach Jackie. Yeah,
good good.
Speaker 9 (46:16):
They're doing a great job over there. So our hand's
going to be full. But we're looking for the challenge.
It's it's gonna help us get ready for when we
get into the Big eight. So no question, kind of
beat up our schedule this year to get ready for
the Big Eight. And yeah, the camp it's open for everybody.
We're also doing.
Speaker 7 (46:34):
With the co ed with the girls and boys from
fourth grade to eighth grade.
Speaker 9 (46:39):
Nice and then we got on the other side, the
showcase with the high school kids from ninth graders to
twelfth graders.
Speaker 7 (46:46):
Have a live DJ. Okay, have a DJ out there
so it's under the lights, so we're.
Speaker 4 (46:50):
Gonna have a good time, man, and good stuff.
Speaker 7 (46:52):
Man.
Speaker 9 (46:52):
I'm trying to do it every year and get more,
get more scouts to come out there to check out
these girls.
Speaker 7 (46:57):
And from another avenue to get recruited.
Speaker 4 (46:59):
Fantastic fantas has to coach. But again, you're doing a
fantastic job. Please if you don't mind mentioning your your
your your assistant coach, coach, that's my.
Speaker 7 (47:08):
Right hand man. I couldn't do it without him. Man,
he's the best.
Speaker 4 (47:11):
Good stuff like that. Well again, man, coach. Best of
luck to you, I know, coach. Oh no, no, we're good.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
We're good to go.
Speaker 11 (47:16):
Man.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
Congratulations, we're looking forward to seeing you this year.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
I know you're passionate. Like I said, we were on
the sideline the All Star Game. I saw your passion.
You really want to what's best for these young ladies.
Speaker 5 (47:24):
So you know that's something that that you know every
I wish every athlete had a coach that was passionate
about seeing their success.
Speaker 4 (47:30):
Yes, and again it's obviously attachment beginning. We're just a
really really solid group of young ladies right there.
Speaker 9 (47:36):
I love you guys, give to us, and we're here
for you anytime you guys need us.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
You guys got to do a team psion that lifted
truck man right yeah, yeah, yeah, we might be everybody
roll for big trucks.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
Yeah there it is right there. Now real quick, if
you don't mind hang out, hang out for a quick
ten minutes for us. We've got to wrap up the show,
and I want to make sure we get a chance
the chapter you get before we leave. Okay, it is right,
they're Fox Sports Radio. We're gonna take a quick quick
break and when we return, Coach B and I will
wrap this show up again. Uh we norco flat football.
Coach B. What a great group right there, man.
Speaker 5 (48:08):
Yes, yes, we're excited to see that, to see that
continue with growth. Like I always tell people, uh, you know,
my first born was a girl, so it's I always
love to see when the girls get their due.
Speaker 3 (48:19):
They like they said, they get their flowers. So it's
always a good thing to see that for the young lady.
So yeah, and I'm excited to see how this season goes.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
Yes, it's gonna be special man again. You are listening
to Coach b and Eternal. I am your host Eternal and.
Speaker 5 (48:32):

Herd in Southern California on Fox Sports A thirteen fifty.
Speaker 3 (49:55):
I am your host, Coach.
Speaker 4 (49:56):
Being, and I am your host eternal right here live
in a great city of River sign at the iHeart
Radio Studios. Again. I got to give another big shot
out to Coach Lockett doing a wonderful job with those
young ladies over at Norco High School.
Speaker 11 (50:08):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (50:09):
Coach. As I mentioned at the top of the show,
I will be making my homage to the great city
of Oxnard. I called. You know, I've had my experience
in Oxnard even before I was going to the Dallas
cap but well around the time I was going to
the Dallas Cowboys camp. The first time I went, I
had I went to this restaurant. They had some of
(50:29):
the best guacam mole I've ever had in my life.
I don't know if you're a guacamole fan or not.
Speaker 5 (50:34):
Yeah, you know there's a Coach Rome big up to
Coach Rome right right by my house, the Chase Bank
on Baseline Cherry. There there was a Mexican restaurant. I
remember Rome talking about this three or four years ago,
and when you go there. This is what I always say.
If if a Mexican restaurant gets to Quaca molely right,
it's over.
Speaker 7 (50:53):
It's over.
Speaker 11 (50:53):
You know.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
So that to me, I measure this.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
You know that's a big deal for you.
Speaker 3 (50:59):
I don't eat Avacapa, but because when I grew up
in the Hub City, we had a.
Speaker 5 (51:05):
Avocado tree and the rats used to run across the
power line either the avocados, and you would see their teeth.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
My bad memory from that messed you up, right, memory
my childhood, you know.
Speaker 4 (51:17):
Yeah, where my guy lived in Oxnar, big shot to
my man riding Medina. Also my man Mark Chapman. I'll
be linking over with him later on, but riding Medina.
He's my my contact out there in Oxnar. Brought me
out there to his parents' house. They had an avocado
tree and let me tell you something, his mom whipped
up some guacamole. Just it just hurt me. But nonetheless,
I want to I'm going out there today. Uh Dallas
(51:40):
Cowboys camp. Uh, it just kicked off on Tuesday this week.
Uh so we're really really excited about that. Gonna go
out there on behalf the Dallas Cowboys reached out to me,
which was great. But the folks who are getting this
all hooked up for us are the good folks over
at Visit ox Our, Visit ox Nard dot com. I
(52:01):
gotta make sure I show some show them some level.
I'll be in there v I. I'll be one of
the VIP guests today, going out there hanging out. It's
gonna be a great experience for those who haven't gotten
a chance to experience Dallas Cowboys camp. Do it, uh Via,
go out there with the good folks over at visit
oxnar visit Oxnard dot com and they can hook you
up with that. But as we kind of spin back,
(52:23):
Coach b what's been buzzing here?
Speaker 11 (52:26):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (52:27):
If you guys listen to the radio station during the
course of the week, everybody is just talking crazy. They
want a fire day Roberts. The Dodgers are just going
through some changes. Obviously one of the most stacked team.
To remind me of the Yankees back in the day,
you know, and now that the most hated team in
Major League Baseball. Uh, sinking a little bit, taking a
(52:47):
little bit of a dip. I saw a show. Hey,
Uh you know, you know they they look they look
good yesterday. But I don't know, Coach b I mean,
you know, you know you're you're hearing these chants again,
fire Day Roberts, what are your thoughts, you know on
our Dodger blue boys.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
You know, I remember this years ago when the Lakers
were in their run and this is the first well
they only did one three p and then Kobe won
two back to back. But I remember it was maybe
after the first of second championship and they were doing the.
Speaker 5 (53:17):
Same thing with Shack. They were pressing them, Hey, you
guys aren't doing well. You guys are this, you guys
are that? And Shaq said it, Hey, if we go
eighty two and zero and we lose in the playoffs,
you won't care. Like remember the Patriots were eighteen and up.
Does anyone talk about that team?
Speaker 4 (53:32):
Not at all.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
They don't, not at all.
Speaker 5 (53:34):
So I don't think that the regular season matters. You know,
it's one hundred.
Speaker 4 (53:39):
And sixty games long season.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
And you think about that.
Speaker 5 (53:43):
The Dodgers and this is kind of what caught up
to like the Golden State Warriors when you think about that,
and even the Kansas City Chiefs when you add in
their playoff runs, that's probably another two seasons.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
No, really, it's a lot of wear and tear. And
then you know, you're a lot of these guys, you know,
once the season gets over, coach, but some they go
on vacation. But some of those real hardcore guys, they're
in the gym, they're working on so they got a
whole month on you, or if they're recovering, they have
a month of recovery on you. You know, So that
and to your that's a really good point that that
(54:15):
that that playoff run, you're you're you're going out of
your competitive it's a lot more intense during that time.
So you're right about that. Now, you you just really
taking away almost a month plus of either you know,
either your your your recovery time, which is generally what
folks want to do. They want to recover for about
a month or so and then kind of get into
some more uh you know, kind of build up for
(54:36):
the next season. But yet, great point on that, Uh,
they're going to be playing I think personally, my my
my opinion is the same. It's one of the most
talented teams in all of baseball. Right, You're gonna, you know,
a big shout to my guy, Mookie Bets. I mean,
everybody talks crazy about Mookie, but.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
I was gonna say that, you always talk about Mookie.
That's your guy.
Speaker 7 (54:52):
Man.
Speaker 4 (54:52):
Look look this guy, coach b I want to tell
you how difficult it is. Number one, he was my
guy even when he was over at the UH.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
I don't say the name.
Speaker 7 (54:59):
I know.
Speaker 4 (55:01):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I appreciate you.
Got to thank you yesterday. Yeah, we played them yesterday.
Had some weird uniforms on. I mean, but he was
my guy then. Love what he does off the field
and on the field. But he went from playing center
field to now he's playing shortstop. I mean that is
(55:21):
extremely difficult to do, very very few people can do that. Well,
well he went to third, thank you, he was the third.
But third and shortstop, two different worlds, two different world
I mean again, no, no, no, knock to a Rod.
A Rod's that guy. You know, hey, hands down. But
what Mookie's doing is something crazy. And again, you know,
(55:44):
and there's some other guys out there that are doing stuff.
But a lot of people are trashing him right now,
trashing Dave Roberts, you know, uh, you know other teammates.
You know, they're really just not you know, again, obviously
pitching is always an issue. But I like to your point,
it is not September yet, right, and this is this
is when the Dodgers always kick in the gear. They're
they're even sitting out talent right now preparing for September.
(56:06):
So that's a great point, and.
Speaker 5 (56:07):
You have when you think about it, Uh, shoe Hey
is trying to work his way back into you know
who he was.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
So I think they're gonna be They're gonna be fine.
But what what do you do? Is Showy gonna start?
I know, is he gonna be a reliever? Yeah, I
don't know how you how you do that because if
you're a reliever, you got to go go to the bullpen.
Speaker 4 (56:25):
Yeah, it's really going to be interesting how they work
that that dynamic because like to your point, you know,
you have to that transition from he's batting first to
trying to get up there and then pitch. It's gonna
be an interesting deal how they do it. But but
again they're definitely ramping up and preparing for me. You know,
you ask the officionados out there, Coach b They're saying,
this guy could just pitch by hisself and still be
(56:47):
one of the top players in all of baseball, right. So,
I mean that's that's how special this guy is. So
he again he's nothing to balk at. He's just a
really really talented player. And again that's just one of
the guys that you got over there on this huge stack.
Uh A team going on right here. Man. So again,
it's gonna be great.
Speaker 11 (57:04):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (57:04):
But yeah, keep keep a lookout for that really exciting stuff.
I can't wait that. I wish it wasn't a two
hour drive to Oxnar coach, but I mean it's like
driving to LA twice.
Speaker 7 (57:12):
Yeah, yeah, I'm good.
Speaker 4 (57:15):
I wish it was like some way we could get
up there. There's like a train or something. But nonetheless
it's not so uh. But again, want to make sure
we give a big shout out to uh Norco girls
flag football. Great, great, great interview today. Uh, And I
still have got to make sure I give a personal shot.
I still got some of my family out from Chicago.
We got a chance to do my grandfather's services yesterday.
(57:36):
Great great stuff. Thanks everybody for coming out. It was
a really really great service too. Man.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
So yeah, so it condons this to your family.
Speaker 4 (57:42):
Yeah, yeah, man, I appreciate that. Man much love which
you again, what do you have on the on the
on the barbie today? Man? What you got going on?
Speaker 3 (57:47):
That's what I said.
Speaker 5 (57:48):
My schedule had been crazy for the last month or
month or two and the wife and I, I love
my day every year.
Speaker 3 (57:53):
I got to go to Vegas for my birthday.
Speaker 5 (57:55):
But this is the first weekend the wife and I
can time up our schedules and we'll be doing that,
so we'll be on the on the road as well.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
She's texting me now, she's she's ready to get ready
to go.
Speaker 4 (58:04):
She's like, hey, pick up the ice, let's make it happen.
Speaker 5 (58:06):
Yeah, because we're going to see that the mad Apple. Now,
now tell me help me out, help me on Matt
Apple with a.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
Circus so lay show.
Speaker 7 (58:13):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
So yeah, she's wanting to do this forever, and you
know it's finally like, okay.
Speaker 4 (58:17):
Well give me give me a review, give me a review. Yeah,

Speaker 7 (59:07):
Sp
