Speaker 1 (00:01):
Coming to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studio
in Southern California. It's time for the only national prep
sports show on radio, the Coach be An Eternal Show.
And here are your hosts, the pride of Riverside, Eternal
and straight out of Downy Coach B.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Gentlemen, it's all yours. This is Coach be and the
Turnal on Fox Sports Radio Herd in Southern California on
Fox Sports Am thirteen fifty. I am your host, Coach B.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
And I am yours eternal right here live in a
great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
And you know how we do it right here every
Saturday morning. Coach B.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
It's a it's a little bit of an overcast. I
will take it. I know it's been a hot week.
How's the week been going for you out there?

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Man?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
So far, so good man. It's always good when you
see the cool off. Yeah, it's been a it's been
a tough week. And I'm always bobbing and weaving and
out there, so it's it's it's tough when you get
out there in the world. Man. Even the high desert
was smoking hot this week, so that's sure. I guess
it's called the High Desert for a reason because it is,
indeed and in fact a desert. So yeah, it was.

(01:02):
It was really hot out there this week.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
No doubt about it. Again, Fox Sports Radio, Coach being Eternal. Now,
a lot of stuff going on this week, Coach b
This time next week, you know, it'll be discussions about
the first week, the first kickoff for prep football here
in southern California, and a lot of stuff's going on.

(01:29):
Last week, obviously, we got a chance to have a
couple of different teams in here flag football, a lot
of you know, some of the top talent, you know
here in the Inland Empire, Western Christian. We had Roosevelt,
then we also had Rancha Cuckamonga. What was your thoughts,
coach be when you saw those those girls flag football teams?
I mean, do they look like they're ready to go?
I mean, you know, they looked intent.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
It's always good to see how the young ladies are
coming along and progressing, you know, I know the CIF
was kicking around a couple of ideas at first. They were.
I think they did make cheer competitive and you know,
because you have the title names, you have to have
equal balance. But I think football is the perfect thing
because football, and I'm disappointed about this, breakdancing will not
be a sport in Los Angeles, and you think about that,

(02:11):
you know, I know breaking started in New York. I
don't even know if they've ever had an Olympiad in
New York, but you know, it's an American thing, so
you think break dancing would have stayed.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
But they got rid of it.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I think it was that one lady from my what
country she was. It made a mockery of it. But
I love to see because flag football is going to
be a thing in the next Olympics. So it's good
to see the young ladies because you know, I have
a daughter that cheered her brothers on. She was a
cheerleader for her brother's teams when they played. So it's
good to see the girls get a chance to get
out there and show what they can do. So I

(02:43):
love to see these young ladies and they are intense.
You can see they're locked in, their focused and I
can see within the next five or ten years because
a lot of these girls play multiple sports where they're
gonna say, hey, I'm just a flag football player.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, you can totally tell because you know all it coach,
just from my thought process and I'm right there with you.
And again we're talking about flag football here, just how
it's just ignited here period really but specifically here on
the West coast. But yeah, once those young ladies started
to be able to get scholarships, that's what really set

(03:17):
it to the next level. And once you start to see,
you know, these bigger schools kind of really dive into it,
these D one schools, I think that's when you're going
to start to see an exodus of different sports.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Absolutely now the thing that it's going to be interesting,
and it's already happened at my university that I graduated from.
Some you know when you talk about that that next level,
especially what just happened with Michigan a twenty million dollar
fine for connected to Jim Harball and I forget the
guy to sign the guy that said with the sign
stealer twenty million dollars. That's going to affect other sports.

(03:49):
Like even at my school they got rid of boys
volleyball and it was a very successful program on a
national level. So that may be the rim of some
of the things that you see happen as you know,
what's going to happen to track and field, what's going
to happen to growing, what's going to happen. I know
it's a different thing, but you talk about growing at
the collegiate level, hopefully everything is still able to go.

(04:11):
But you we'll see what happens with that. Because that
Michigan fine, that was big.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
You know, that's a really good point right there, and
because you're going to start to see, uh, some of
these universities. I think, you know, some of this it's
a business, no question about it. I mean some of
that are more traditional sports may be safe, but there's
gonna have to be some real Montorly sports.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Yeah, Like you know, right, so.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
You talk about track and field, you know those you know,
those sports attract fans, you know, meantime fans.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
You know track, I know you're a track guy. Why
didn't ever catch on in America?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Well, you know, I mean you see people like Michael
Johnson trying to work on the league. There's a lot
of discussion about you know, money, you know, money still
being old. Track is a really really difficult, uh sport
to really to promote, specifically here in the States. Like
we have an affection for it, but it's more like
when it's built around the Olympics. Right when you see

(05:03):
like the World National UH with the World Track National
Track meet, those are generally stuff that you see across
the pond different different countries, specifically more like in the
England area, I mean in the more the European UH countries.
And I think that's just because of just how America's built.
We're kind of built around Olympics. When we think track

(05:25):
and field, we think Olympics, or we think of it
in a collegiate or a high school.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Level, right right, I agree. And that's the thing when
you look at I know the thing is maybe a
Phil Knight was younger because you know he's a big
time track guy, ran track track at Oregon. But that's
who they need to get involved. But you know Phil
has got his hand in so many things deep. Yeah,
And I just I guess it's just a I don't know,
if you say a cultural thing like American culture, whereas

(05:50):
you know, the big dog in America's football. Yes it's
not football, but football, yes, yes, And you know it's
the pecking order, you football, basketball, baseball, then hockey and
then you have soccer, so I don't know if we
have room for more. And that's why I think it's
so brilliant when you're going back to UH to put
a ball on that is, to go back to UH
girl's flag. I think it is. It's and I mean,

(06:12):
that is the most popular sport in America. And you're
not gonna get away from away from it. And you know,
I'll asked you a question about this too. Yes, where
they were talking about you know, there was and again
his name escapes me. Again, he's been sitting in on
the on the the odd felt the odd couple. But
they were talking about the like h tuah and the

(06:33):
concussions and so forth and some of the things that
they have and and and you know they're saying that
these players would still play even knowing the things that
went on. I think I would play, you know, And
I was trash in high school.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Yeah, well you know, you know, my father talks about
that all the time. You know where he knows for
sure he had several concussions and you know, and and then.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
They were just stingers, right, and you got to think
he was You need potassium, seriously, I mean, you.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Know, and I remember coach serious business.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I remember when he gave me his helmet, I could
believe this man was playing you know, tackle football, you know,
running into people. I mean, you know, these guys are
big and strong, just like the rest of it, I mean,
the rest of the guys, rest of us, the rest
of those guys who are planning at the time, and
he's going right into people head first. And so I
know for a fact he definitely had you know, some

(07:20):
there were some remnants of playing. But you know, to
this day he said he's still play right. He was
envious that we had so much patting because he was like, man,
you know, I could have maybe protected my career a
little bit longer. But now to your point, most people,
even knowing all those situations, would definitely play it. Just
football is a really interesting sport where you just that

(07:43):
the adrenaline you get, the camaraderie you get from the
players in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
It is something man, right, right, I agree?

Speaker 2 (07:48):
And you know, you know it's funny because I was
just talking to a friend the other day and I
told him, you know, some of my best friends that
I'm still in communication with and I still talk to
to this day were from high school, you know, and
it's just something about high school. I mean, elementary school,
middle school great, but it's just those high school friends.

(08:10):
A lot of my my high school friends I went
to middle school with. But it's just something about that
bond that you you get, Like I love usc usc
is great, but everyone knows I'm a gcu Antelope, and
now I gotta say I'm a Downy Viking. And I
always say that other school in the city, you know,
I tell them they named the city after my high school.
So that's what I always say. There's Downey and there's

(08:30):
that other school. And even to this day, I graduated,
you know, thirty years ago, and to this day, that
rivalry still runs deep. And I kicked myself because I
didn't go to the game when they played it sofa. Yeah,
there's twenty thousand people there.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Oh yeah, no, I mean you and I we had
some debate about how that was going to go, and
I didn't think it would work.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Well, yeah, no, it was good to see that it
worked there.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
You know, you and I we we've talked candidly about, well,
you know, off the air, about just how that whole
thing works, you know, is it really is it really
something good. But you know, when you get twenty thousand
people there, I think you know that there's something to
be said about that. So you're right, but you no,
but to your point, like, no, the high school rivalry
is big time. Like you know, I think I was
having a discussion with a coach the other day about

(09:11):
you know, during that time, you just think, you know,
when you're at Downey, you would have never thought to
go to Warren.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
No, no, no, even.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Even if you know, if the coach said, hey, you're
not gonna play football, you weren't going to go to Warren.
I mean that's the same thing about where we were Aramona.
You know, we got you know, you know, stuff happened
and we weren't able to play, But there was never
a thought like I'm just gonna go to Arlington or
I'm just gonna go to Polly Ever.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Well, true story, true story. I hate to admit this
and it's going to be on tape, but I remember
my senior year I had one of my friends that
Downey was I mean, and that was the thing when
when you went to school in Downey, you went to
Downey to for sports. If you were an athlete, you
went to Downey if you were in the books. She
went to Warren. Can't believe I said their name, but
I remember my senior year, I had a couple of
friends that actually went over there and were able to

(09:54):
play basketball. So I come home and I tell my
mother if I go over there, I can play. She's like,
you're gonna finish. Sit down here, And you know she
had the foresight to know how great that was, because
you know, I had that same conversation with my daughter.
She wanted to go because a lot of her friends
because there's open enrollment in Chafey joints, so she went
to Edawanda. She wanted to go to uh to Rancho.

(10:15):
And I'm like, when your brother goes to ed Wanda,
he plays football at Awanda, I'm not going to drop
him off and drop you. I'm not gonna do all that, right,
and you've been at at Ajuana for two or three years.
We're not going to move that. Girls are caddy. And
she doesn't understand that you get the high school, you're
gonna have problem because my wife. I guaranteed my wife
had that issue when she was in middle school and
she moved into a new school district and just it
was just a problem for her if we just weren't
going to do that. You know, these kids and she

(10:36):
were in kindergart you got to figure it out. Like
like Alec Anderson, they were in kindergarten together.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Come on now, Yeah, to Alec Anderson.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
We got pictures of them from a field trip when
they were in kindergarten.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
And he just he just recently got married. So congratulations
to our guy, Alec. Yes, yes, big time. Lineman over
there for offensive Lineman over there, for the Buffalo Bill
still active doing the He does a lot of great
stuff out there, a lot of philanthropy.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
So great kid.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
But no, but to your point, like you know, my father,
the same thing with your mother. My father instilled that
rivalry well really just that state, that stick touitiveness, you
know what I mean, like, hey, you know what you're here,
you know. And for him, he just you know, for
my father, he just couldn't imagine me doing He's like, hey,
you at Ramona, you got my name, there's nowhere else
you're staying right here. It wasn't even a you know,

(11:27):
even a doubt but about that. But even with my
brother when he went to Nordo Vista, he never because
you know, my brother wanted to change school with my
dad was like, oh no, no, we're not doing that right,
not at all, And like he said, had a similar
conversation with him, like I'm definitely not about to drive
you all out the district, you know, you know, you know,
we we're from the class where you had to walk
to school, right right. But yeah, again again coach being

(11:47):
he trying to write here live Fox Sports Radio, coach
be a lot of stuff going on today in the
professional world, you know, and you know, when we come
back from the break, we have to kind of talk
about this.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
But today on the docket, just you.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Know, for our NFL preseason fans, because again this preseason
is really happening. Is going down before our preseason fans.
You have the Packers and the Colts that's going to
be taking place as soon as we hop off air
at ten o'clock. You have the Patriots and the Vikings
kicking off at ten o'clock, and then you also have
the Defans Coach b An Alliance locking up at ten o'clock,

(12:24):
and then you have the Panthers and the Texans.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Our guy mister c J. Led by mister c J. Straudo.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
See if he takes the field today, and then you
have the Raiders and the forty nine ers, and then
you have the game that I really want to talk
about a little bit is the Eagles and the Browns.
I don't know if you got a chance to see Shador.
You know what time it is? Check the time, not
checked a round, but check the time. Sanders slang the

(12:51):
rock around last week. But what were your thoughts?

Speaker 2 (12:54):
You know, I did see it, That's what we had
talked to. I got to the game late because I
know we're bumped up against the clock, but it's Eastern
time zone. Didn't even dawn on me that the game,
you know, seven o'clock. There's four o'clock here. Yes, so
I got to the game late. But yeah, I saw
what happened with him. But like we said before, when
he was able to start, your best ability is avail availability.

(13:15):
So if his bleak is hurting, I don't know what's
going on out there, because that's the third quarterback that
it's hurt. Like what's going on in Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Have a huge quarterback room already. I think they have
like five guys on there on their round.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
If you think it Deshaun is there. I know he's
on the ir.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
He's their fifth quarterback. Yeah still still you know, definitely.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Not to go against the fifty three, but he's there.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Well, well they're having a pam. Yes, I think they
were saying, since he's injured, the insurance is paying Okay, okay, yes, yes,
that's good, kind of like what they did with grand Hill.
And he was able and finally the insurance company said, hey,
we're not paying this dude, no more. That's why. So
that's why they had to get granted about.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
The leav Grant was getting paid.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yes, yes, and it's sad because he he should.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Not have played on that ankle. Yeah, no doubt about it.
But yeah no we again, we did. We did talk
about it a little bit. We diedulve in a little bit.
But I just want to make sure I got your thoughts.
So I see if he saw the highlights.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I saw some. I think he's legit, but he's got
to play against some of the uh, the the better talent.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
I think he's going to be okay, yeah, yeah, and
me as well. But then another thing I saw, and
I don't know if you got a chance to see this.
Our guy prayers going out to our guy Alexander Madison
suffered a really really tough injury, and just really glad
to see that. You know, if you guys are following him,
you get a chance to see you know, he's at
least he's in great spirits. You see him, you know,

(14:30):
up and walking. You know he obviously it's assisted, but
nonetheless they're just good to see him up and walking
that quick moving around. So again, God speed with him
getting him back in order. I know, yes, I'm talking
about that right.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Yeah, he's been a great guy. We've known him since
he was a senior in high school. We watched his
journey when he went to Boise and then he was
at Minnesota the Raiders, and now he's with Miami, so we're,
you know what a testament of a kid. Now. I
always told the story when he was in high school.
My son at the time was I think a fifty
six great went to be a running back and the
first team I said, can you talk to my son?

(15:03):
He said, yeah, and this is a senior in high school.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
First question he asked my son was what are your grades?
He said, because if you don't have the grades, you
can't go to college and play football. So I was like, man,
and this is a young man born and raised in
sam Bernardino, you know, and if people want to know,
I don't want to dive into his personal story, what
he the challenges he went through, you can google all that,
but I mean the things that he's come through and
to be where he's at. What a guy. And he

(15:26):
was at our All Star game. What a guy. Man
always gives back, so always, always and again a really
great guy. And again we'll talking about Alexander Madison. So
we're wishing him the best, speedy recovery. And again he's
just a real testament to doing it the right way.
Stayed at Sambordino High School all throughout his high school career,
could have went anyway he wanted to. And as you mentioned,
Coach b did his college career at Boise State, now

(15:48):
playing for the Miami Dolphins. And again we're watching them
a speedy recovery, absolutely absolutely so good stuff right there.
So when we come back, you know, we got a channel.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
We talked about this briefly last week, and this is
our Inland and Pire top ten teams to watch for
Inland Empire prep football. Lots of discussion about that. People
went crazy. We didn't get a chance to build on it.
Last week we had our media Day experience again a
lot of schools, and then we'll talk about that a

(16:17):
little bit more on the top of the Artemy in
the bottom of the hour. But again when we come back,
we'll get a chance to dive in that a little
bit more, talk about some of these top teams that
are going to be locking up this week.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
It's going to be a great week. Man. I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
I got to figure out what games I'm going to,
but I'm definitely going to be at one of them.
It's going to be some really, really competitive football getting
played this season, so can't wait for it.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
So we're gonna take a quick break.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
When we come back, we'll kind of dive into that
a little bit, and then we'll also talk about your Dodgers.
You know, our Dodgers, I want to say affectionately, came
through on what a real pivotal game to now have
it all tied up in the NL West. So we'll
dive in that little bit to kind of see, you
know how that's all taking place again. It was great

(17:03):
to see, nonetheless, but you're listening to Coach being Eternal.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I am your host Eternal.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Well, let's get down to business. This is a coach
being eternal on Fox Sports Radio Herd in southern California,
Fox Sports Am thirteen fifteen, and it's always oh, oh
my bad, I am your host, coach.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
Be coach. He was ready to go.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Yes, sir, Yes indeed, and I am.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Turner right here live in the great city of Riverside,
Fox Sports Radio at the iHeartRadio Studios.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Coach.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
We I mean, where were you, man when that legendary
song came out? Dollars and cents? I mean, I gotta
take you back to that.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
I think I was one of the first times I heard.
I think I was. I was hanging out with my
my homies in the city. So yeah, so we were
over there. And that's why I've told you before. There
was no playing of any Biggie or jay Z or
anything there. If you would have got up and put
some of those on, it'll be a rough night for you.
I'll just say that. So, yes, I think I was

(19:33):
somewhere in the city when I heard that.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
That's good stuff right there, and again, that's when my
guy uh uh DJ quick right there all I mean again,
I still have fond memories of getting getting a chance
to meet him backstage at the Soul Train Music Awards.
Really really, really really a cool dude, humble cat who's
done a lot in the hip hop industry, no doubt
about it.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
It's interesting, fun fact. He and my brother went to
middle school together. Oh, David Blake. Yes, yes, Davis Davis
Middle School in the city. So I went to Diggerson
across the street and my brother went to Davis. So yes, we'll.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Figure that out. Yes, history for you right there again.
Fox Sports Radio coach being Eturno now coach b We
like we said, we put out this this top ten
top ten football teams to watch the rankings. People went nuts.
People were trying to I mean they were talking about fire. People,
they were talking about people should just just shut.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Down the account.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
I mean, it was just a lot of heat coming
our way about this. But nonetheless, like the song says,
I will survive, and we just kept on pushing. But
we got to make sure we bring it up and
then we'll get a chance to talk about who they're
going to compete against. Because some of these teams they'll
play against. These are some of the teams that folks

(20:49):
said should be on top, so we'll get a chance
to really see, you know who they are. So, Coach
b I'll go ahead, as a matter of fact, if
you want to go ahead and start with number ten,
and then I'll come through with number nine.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Okay, let me pull up my show notes. Here we go.
So number ten, you have San Jacento is going to
take on Beaumont, so that that actually should be a
good game. You know, I had a friend and and
uh we're talking about high school football, and he would say,
I love Beaumont. Let's let's let's let's preference with that guy.
Love coach Steiny, Okay, okay, And he was saying that

(21:21):
Beaumont is probably the one school in the area that
can compete with Centennial.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
And I said.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Centennial and Corona. So but you know, I love Beaumont,
I love Coach Steiny. I'll just say that. So, but
Corona Centennial, especially with it and Catalino's little brother is
playing now Centennial. Honestly, I'm gonna say this right now,

(21:47):
Centennial is a sleeper. My sleeper team this year. Centini
h I don't. Yeah, they have a big game. I
think they're playing Modern Day this year.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
At least it's not for a game that he did
a better job of not making that game.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
I don't. I think they should a least have a
warm up.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Game, right, true? And I think you and you said
that when you said long Street, when you talk about that,
I think I think he was hurt last year, right, Yeah,
he was hurt.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
So he didn't even get a chance to playing that
game because he was still coming back off of injury.
So he didn't get it, and they still were competitive.
I mean obviously Modern Day ran away.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
With it Corolina playing that game, right.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
If I'm not mistaken, Yes, I think he had to
start in place of uh long Street.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Yes, yes, So, like I said, again, Steiny's our guy.
I love Steiny. I want people to know that I
love Steiny. He's my guy. I no shots fired, none whatsoever.
But I said, and there is a there is an
elite league that Centennial plays in, and it includes Bosco
and includes Modern Day and it includes Bishop Gorman.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
So so yeah, put a check mark next to that.
But I thank you Coachy for saying that because a
lot of people.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
I don't have no shots fired, no shots fired, because
people will.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Lose their mind out that coach be about something like
talking about how you know you know, because again we've
had to say this multiple times, Centennials one in three
is totally different from anybody.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Absolutely absolutely totally different.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
I mean this, this their schedule is totally different. So
don't look at the record. A lot of people when
you know, you know, when our rankings come out, a
lot of people look at record and they immediately go, Okay,
well we're undefeated, and you know, you guys are playing
you know, JV teams and Centenia's playing you know, almost
college teams.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
So and you know, I did some research on this.
After this Centennial plays not one, not one, not two,
they played three Trinity League teams. Break it down with
what teams are Servite Santa Margarita and you can't say
that name unless you got a Margarita and then modern

(23:45):
day So I mean, you talk about that, that is
a tough skal. And that's that's why, you know, because
back in the day I used to I used to
live Florida State when Charlie Ward was there, and that's
what they would say. They don't play anyone, and he
he is the one who coined that phrase, the coach
about it, we'll play anyone anywhere, anytime, because Florida State

(24:06):
wasn't anything until he got there, saying and with Logan
and with Logan he did that anyone anywhere And you
and I if people go back into the yard man
even probably wh we were on the former station, when
what's our running back that's now out there in the
Tobaco he was like one of their. Yes. When Trey

(24:26):
was there, I remember we had him on the show
and I forget alamany I think it's where they played.
I was like, man, why are they playing these teams?
Why are they doing this? And you were adamant they
got to play it. They gotta do it. They've got
to do it. And look at them now, no.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Doubt about it, because you know, because see that's the
only way people are going to say, you know, there's
you know they're ranked accordingly because again same thing like
right now with some of these teams. We were discussing
the Bonmonts of the world. The only way they're going
to really get up there is you have to play
those teams absolutely. And we saw Edawanda when we were
calling the game for ed Wana under that team. Try

(25:00):
to make that that grand step. But you have to
I mean, when you make that step to play Centennial,
you then have to start to really you know, concoct
your team around. We're gonna be playing big time football
like that, and that's hard to do.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
That's hard to do.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
And that's another one. My son said, Dad, were playing
at a wonder this year because my son, I think
it was on freshman this year. Centennial and I'm sorry Centennial.
I said, Compton Centennial or Corona Centennial and he said,
Corona Centinia. If you remember that game on the broadcast,
I remember that game. It was a third stream quarterback.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
They still put up seventy I mean that game was
I mean just I think the game was over during
the walkout.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
Remember that walkout when we saw that team.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
I mean, everybody was like they was like, hey, you know,
we're not even gonna go get no popcorn.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Game is over.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
It's like it's like with Mike, like you said, you know,
most people, he'd already Mike said he knew in the
steer down yep, if the fight was over or not.
So so yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
So again coach being he trying to write live on
Fox Sports Radio thirteen fifty we are talking about our
top ten. I went on, no, no, no, it's all good, man,
It's all good. That's what we do, man. But again
we're talking about our top ten. Uh the Fox Sports
video Illin Empire Prep football top ten. We just went
over number ten.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Coach.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
We uh talked about Sandy Cento versus Beaumont. That'll be
this week. Huge games happening this week again, it's coming
up week.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Friend of the show at that San Vincento, both of them.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Again, I guess coach Galliano over at sany Cino.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Coach before had Beaumont. Steiny, he was a coach of
a year before, one of our all games games.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yes, and so again, and I know Steiny personally, great coach.
I mean, probably one of the better coaches here in
the Illan Empire. No shots fire none and you see
the gun show. So we're seeing them workout. We've seen
the pull ups with the with the chain and the weights.
I mean, the man is real deal now. But but
again a lot of people said that Beaumont should be

(26:44):
in that top ten, and I just kind of ended
on this. They they what I hear about them, Coach,
is that they're returning a lot of their starters from
last year, so you know, they only lost you know,
maybe a handful of kids, and so the big thing is,
you know, they're returning people. So we're gonna see, we're
want to see you know again Friday night. They'll be
taking on santing sentence, so we'll get a chance see
coming in at number ten, you have Damian always tough

(27:08):
out there, coach B. And they're playing across town rival.
Uh a quantas I don't There has to because they're
both Christian schools, Christian private school. There have to be
something called the holy war or something like that, probably
called coach.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
I don't know what your thoughts on well on that,
I think I think their holy war is the quantities
against Notre Dame because I know they play for something.
But then again it's another because because with with with
and it's probably more personal quantity d because I think
there are I think San Bernardina riverside of the same
Marchi diocese that I would have to look it up
because didn't you say the president, yes, you.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Right in the same school. You're right about that, good call.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Yes, the president for the Quinness is now the president
of Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Correct, that's a good call.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Okay, yeah, yeah, so I And that's the thing about
the Inland Empire and Company together. Eventually they're gonna just
start separating those two because they've become such big you know,
uh places there they're on their own. But yeah, but
you know, I would imagine that Damien game, that's going
to be a BIG's.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Gonna be a big game.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Right then, Quantas is on the uptick, Coach, b We
know that they've been building a program for sometime for
some time now, you know huge, I mean, beautiful stadium
over there.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
I would love to do an all star game. Come on, coach,
can you say a little louder? Yeah, I mean yeah,
we talked about the athletic director. It was honored at
our bank.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
Well now, coach, and you know, we.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Just we just love to be there.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Hey hey, hey, hey, you know you heard it here first.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
But no, again, that's gonna be a great game, kicking
off on the twenty second again, Damien versus a Quantus
who got coming in and.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Number eight coming in at number eight, we have none
other than my my thing. Just close there we go,
number eight, We have none other than Vista Marietta at
Great oh, Great Oak. That's a good game out there
for that te Macula Ada. That's another region that is
really beginning to take off. Yeah, and and and make
some things happen. And then a school I had such potential,

(29:02):
such a beautiful stadium number seven at Awanda against Grand Terrace,
I mean beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Camp was easy to access.
If they could really get that thing going to Grand Terrace,
I know they had it going for a little while,
Yes they did.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
They were rolling for a quick second.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Our coach a guy he was at coaching and then
he was there. We honored him in the hall. Yes,
his name escapes me.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
His name beside me as well.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
But I know exactly what you're talking how or something
like yes, yes I can pull it. Yeah but but yeah,
no again, two great schools. Ed Awanda's coming in. You know,
people were chirping about Edewanda put it out there because
it's public, it's you know, it's a public post. Folks
were saying Edwanda should't even be on there. They have
a brand new coach. They're in the baseline league coach.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
But he's an alumni too.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
But I again, see that's why I was about to
get there. I like what they're building over there. I like, again,
they're raising money over there. They're doing things the right way.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
But I know when my boys were there, five hundred
dollars a kid per fundraiser five hundreds, I mean that
pocket was like and I had two kids there at
one time. So yeah, so you.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Know all about it, then you can send on a
soul box talk about But again, the Eagles, they'll be
taking on the Titans of Grand Terrace should be a
great game and I can't wait to see that coming
at number six cohome versus Norco.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Now, we talked about this a little bit at the
top of the show.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Cahone went out there and they had a really competitive
I mean, I mean it almost looked like a real
game out there. Played a friendly game, a exhibition game
against Chaparral. And again, one of our kids will talk
about him in a little bit, but one of our kids, Snyder,
who was one of the m VP's, is out there
looking like I mean, coach of coach b you said

(30:43):
it last week, he's looking like a young Toby Gerhart.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
I mean, you look at our story. I posted it
up there.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
I mean, the kid looks scary and again he you know,
we talk about Toby because Snyder was formerly at Norco
and obviously that's Toby Gerhart's on the matter, so that
should be a really competitive game. We're again, but we're
talking about cohone though again Cohoon's gonna be taken on Norco.
And we know always that uh coach. I was about

(31:09):
to call him coach Davis, but it's not coach Davis.
What's our guy's name over there, Coach Rodgers? Excuse me,
Coach Rodgers always had a great team and they'll be
ready to go.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
Who you got coming at number five?

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Coming in at number five? Again, this is the top
ten review. We have Orange Vista versus Apple, and that
Orange Vista we watched that school be built. Yes you
watch that school growth. There's a Malt no longer there.
But they have the new one of his sens. Coach
Fleming is there, Yes, yes, it's picked up the torch
and you think about this, what a gift They have
the quarterback that was a breakout sensation last year normally

(31:41):
and I tell you za Malt left. It gave him
a gift man because most coaches would do that. Doesn't
let me do one more.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Year, especially when you I mean, this is a quarterback
that started for you as a freshman right as you mentioned,
coach b really break out a season last year looked great,
and then he's coming in for a senior year.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
And again most coaches just don't do that.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
They come in, they say, hey, let me kind of
walk out in the glory with my quarterback I brought
in right right?

Speaker 2 (32:05):
You want to do that final year with them? And
then the the team that's always consistent. I don't know
where they get these linemen from. I'm in I'm in
the High Desert a lot, and I don't see these kids,
so I don't know where they come from. But I
mean they have a absolute line. And you're talking about
none other than Apple Valley there. That team is always

(32:26):
doing some great things. It's it's always they're they're always
trying to compete against Oak and in the High Desert
it comes down to Apple and Oak. Yeah, that sounds
like a serial or something, Apple versus Oak, but it's
always those two teams that are competing about that and
and that leads us into number four, and that's their nemesis.
That's going to be Oak Hills versus Highland and Oak Hills.

(32:47):
That's one of the things. There is a true rivalry
going on with that, uh Victor Valley, Apple Valley, Anne
Love Valley, no question. So that's where they those teams
they really don't like each other.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
No, No, it's it's a it's a it's a real, real,
uh big, big time rival out there.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
You know.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
I guess we almost kind of call it the Battle
of the Desert or something. But it's always competitive. They
just played. They play a similar style of football out there.
Coach be a smash mouth. It's you know, it's big guys.
I mean they're you know, they're I mean just big boys,
and they play just really a unique style of football.
Really for me, I like that style, you know, real

(33:23):
throwback and just grind it out football. But yeah, I
can't wait to see that game. Highland is always competitive,
but like you said, that's that Antelope versus h Victor
Valley should be a competitive game. But Coach b again,
we've been talking about Okills for a minute, and we're like, okay, okay, yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Guys are good.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
But in order for you guys to just to really
kind of have some you know, some some ownership over
this entirest. In an empire situation, you got to start
to play the big boys. And on the fifth, just
in a few weeks, Coach B they will be locking
horns with Rancho Cucamonga.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
That should be a great game.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Right, Yeah, it absolutely will be a great game. I
know Rancho Kuckamonga has a new coach as well. I
think he was there last year. So so Ranch are
like halfway in the season. I'm right right, because the
previous coach, we actually we didn't make contact with him
because I know he had stepped down for health issues.
But hopefully all the prayers to him and his family,
hopefully all is well. But I think that Rancho Cucka

(34:17):
manga team, they're going to continue to pick up the
torch because they're hiding ranked. And I'll say this about
I was born and raised and I wanted to say
this because we talked about Oak and we talked about
Apple born and raised in La County. The High Desert
is Victor Valley and all that, so Annelo Valley get
a new name. And even I was in the CV
and someone was saying that, oh that kids from the
high Desert. I was like, oh, they're from Apple and

(34:38):
Victory is like, no, they're from Yucca. Wow. So now
you called Yucca Valley the high there was only one
high desert.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
That right there.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
We had a young lady and we're going to go
to break here a quick second. But we had a
young lady and she was from Yucca Valley. We immediately
put her in the Riverside County situation.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Yeah, in the valley Sam Bernardino County.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
We got phone calls, folks blowing me up. I had.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
I had to look at my map again. I was like, well,
wait a minute, is right there, but it's over the hill.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Coach being it's a weird town, you will take the
ten freeway. Yes, you get off the frield, you drive
about thirty minutes into a mountain and it's you have
no cell service, you have no navigation. You just have
to hope that if you blow a tire or run
out of gas or anything, that someone comes and not
not the buzzer.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
I'm about to say that, not the not the leather mask.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Got Yeah, yeah it is. It is the weirdest stretch.
It's just it's God's country. You're just driving out there
and you're just on fathe and you hope that you
get through that mountain. Yes, yeah, stuff.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Right there again, Coach Being E. Turner, We're gonna come,
We're gonna take a quick break and we come back.
We'll do our top three again, our top three in
our the Inland Empire Prep Football poll, and then we'll
get that going. And then we'll also get a chance
to talk about our affectionate Dodger to put out a
big time game and they'll be playing again.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
Today. You are listening to Coach Being Eternal.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
I am your host Eternal, and I am your host
Coach be on Fox Sports Radio heard in Southern California,
Fox Sports thirteen fifty and it's always Restreeming twenty four
to seven on the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
App celebrating over a decade on air. This is I E. SPORTSNAT,

on the road, not your status. That phone call, text
or email can wait.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
And when you see a highway work.

Speaker 8 (36:55):
Zone, please slow down, pay attention.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
And be work so alert.

Speaker 8 (37:03):
From the California Office of Traffic Safety and Caltrains.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
He's putting on a dunk content performance right now.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
Jordan Mcofflin here at iHeartRadio Studios, and you're listening to
Fox Sports Radio servant one day.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
This is Coach being the turn on Fox Sports Radio
Herd in Southern California on Fox Sports Am thirteen to fifty.
I am your host, Coach.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
B and now I am your host you turning right here
live in a great city of Riverside at the iHeartRadio Studios,
rocking and roll on every Saturday morning. Again we are
talking about our top ten Fox Sports Radio Illen Empire
Prep Football Top ten. We just covered number four Oak Hills.
They'll be taken on Highland on the Friday night lights

(38:00):
making it all. I just want to make sure I
preface by saying number five was Orange Vista to play
in Apple Valley. That'll be a Thursday game. A lot
of games happened on Thursday, coach. But as we mentioned,
because there's a lot, there's still a little bit of
a shortage. But it's still a sort I'm gonna say
a little bit. It's sill a shortage of referees. So again,
for folks who want to be referees, make sure you
reach out to CIF and see see about being a referee.
And helped those folks out right right. But number three coach,

(38:23):
But we've been talking about this team. This gentleman won
the All Star Game last year, has a transfer from
Norco running back Sensation. Uh, you know one of the
kids that he's a he's a junior. This year was
the n VP uh coach being our All Star Game.
Remember he brought him and this guy brought out the

(38:43):
cowboy hats. He was a stud then and he was
just truck sticking. Uh, I mean, I mean, I mean,
I mean, he was just I mean you look at
some of those highlights from yesterday when he was playing
cohon for the for the the scrimmage game.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
The kid looks good.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
But again, they're gonna be really good, Coach, raymer Chaparral.
They're gonna be taking on San Juan Hills. That's Orange County,
Am I right, coach, Yes, yes, okay, So San Juan
Hills and again Chaparral. You see what they're doing already.
They're saying, hey, let's let's build our schedule up. They're
looking to be competitive with some of these big time schools,
you know, the Centennial of the Ranchos of the world.

(39:21):
But again, coming at number three, you have Chaparral. Who
do you have at number two?

Speaker 2 (39:25):
So coming in at number two, that's gonna be We
talked about them just a moment ago. Glad to see,
Oh he'll stepping up and saying, hey, we want it.
And that's gonna be the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars. And again
they're taking on Myrietta Valley and I tell you it's
a lot going on out there and that and that,
well that's they're myriad it. So I don't know the rivalry.

(39:47):
Do they want to call it the Myrietta Valley or
the Temecula Valley because after all, their name is Myriete Valley.
They said, no, no, no, we're gonna call this. It's
like like like it's not the go from Mexico to
go for Mary. So they're saying no, this is Temechula Valley. Now,
I mean this is Marie at a Valley, not met
Killer Valley. So that's what they're that's what they're saying.
That's funny stuff right there. But no, uh, Coach B
again a football team. Uh, they lost a lot. They

(40:10):
lost their their their running star running back Doriy and
we brought him in the studio. Great kid, glad to
see he finally got got picked up. They lost their
they lost there's no more bear Tiger.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
What's the last name of the bach Myers, Right, so all.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
The the you know, Tiger he's at Stanford now, right,
I do believe so so uh so the bach Myers
are no longer there. All of them are gone and
so you know, and they weren't ranked. I mean people
lost their mind. People said, what do you mean, Marriette
Valut They lost a lot of kids to start tight
in uh senior he's gone, so there's a lot of

(40:47):
new faces. But again they're really Marriette Valley. Just they
have a great program up there. I've heard a lot
of great things. So we're gonna see early Coach B.
What's going on Week one r gonna be you know,
like they say, subtle it in the grass.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
I'm anxious to see what that team looks like.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
Hey, we could be wrong, and if we're wrong, we'll
definitely we'll change it accordingly. That's gonna be a really
really great competitive game. Number two again the Cougars Eventrial
Cukamaga and on the twenty second they'll be taking on
Myriad of Valley. It's gonna be a great game. Can't
wait to see that game. And then number one, we
we've talked about him, the Evil Empire. Uh, the guy

(41:27):
everybody knows him, Coach Logan that you know, they just read,
they just retool, They just you know, you know, they
lost our quarterback, Hassan long Street, but they are really
really looking to They have a brand new quarterback coming in.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
I hear. He's just a really great athlete.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
You know, he knows the system. I mean he his
brother was a starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
You already know the deal. So he just he's there.
You know, that's one of those family things, you know
what i mean. So I'm sure he you know, he's
been there holding the clipboard, so he's gonna be He's
gonna look great. You know, Centennial they just always have
have you know, competitive defense, really really big guys on
both sides of the ball. So they're gonna lock in
with Survite again keeping up with their really robust schedule.

(42:09):
I'm happy again Coach Logan did not play Modern day
after first game of the season. I just think, you know,
you want to kind of build up tom to day.
You want to get a couple of games under your
belt before you go out there and lock corns with
them out to day. But that is our top ten
right there, Coach b Uh and really really good stuff.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
Again.

Speaker 3 (42:29):
We're gonna be trying, you know, we're gonna be doing
our best to make sure we update that every week,
so you have to at least be able to kind
of see what happens each Saturday morning. So that's our
that's our top ten right there. We have to get
a quick second to uh, to talk about these Dodgers,
Coach b Again. We there's been a lot of discussion

(42:52):
that the Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (42:53):
Are falling off.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
You know, they they they've been you know, the Angels, uh,
you know, even got a piece of them. They just
really have been playing really competitive baseball against the Dodgers.
But you know, you know that's always a little bit
of a rivalry. But this new thing with the Padres
and the Dodgers has turned into it used to be
the Giants, you know, back in our day, coach.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
Which makes sense because I always tell Giants fans, you're welcome.
The only reason you're in California is because the O'Malley's
I digress.

Speaker 4 (43:22):
They take it there.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
I have to You're welcome.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
And so now the rivalry is kind of pivoted, and
now you have the Padres, the Pappas of Diego again,
my you know, in California. If there's anywhere you know
I could, I would be in San Diego. I just
love the weather out there, love that whole whole lot.
But I would still be a Dodgers fan. And they

(43:47):
have turned this thing into a rivalry. Big game last night,
the Dodgers were able to pull it out, had a
really ah were they able to hold them off because
the Padres came in in the eighth inn and and
got you know, got got a run and made it
almost look competitive. But the Dodgers really did a great
job four hits, no error and three runs to make

(44:10):
it look good. And again they'll be locking horns today. Coach,
I don't know your thoughts were Coach b a lot
of thoughts on on the Dodgers not looking at it,
but but you.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Know how we do it though, well, you know, like
they said, the Dodgers have said, people say, oh, why
didn't they make moves at the trade deadline because they
didn't need to because everything they needed the trade deadline
was on the injury reserve list. Hello, So the Dodgers
have just got to get healthy. I think last year
they they kind of spoiled us because everyone know last
year wasn't supposed to be the year that their breakout year,

(44:38):
but they got that that World Series and you've got
to love that. We know they have a huge payroll.
So the Dodgers have just got to get healthy. That's
the biggest thing. Once they get healthy, they'll be they'll
be okay to make a move. But it just it
hurts because now you know, the Padres love to talk
and now they've they've the Dodgers are now in second place.
So that's one of the things that really hurts to

(44:59):
see them the way that they've kind of fallen. But
you know, San Diego, you you gotta watch yourself because
we're Los Angeles and when we like a team, we
take it. So we took the Chargers back, we took
the Clippers. Since we don't like you, we're not gonna
take you because we don't. We already have two baseball teams.
But I mean, yeah, you do. You never know, we

(45:19):
might stick you somewhere out in the myriad of vunus
or something. So be careful what you say, man, Before
you know, you might be the Los Angeles.

Speaker 4 (45:26):
Padres stationed in Marietta.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Absolutely, and that's that's what we do because we don't
mess around. But I just don't like the Padres. They Ta.
And it's all started with Machado and he was in
the clubhouse and that's the thing about it. And I
guess what he said didn't work out, and he said,
we'll win a World Series before you that didn't work
come on gotten too later.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
So you know.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
And it's another thing people always talk about, Oh, that's
a COVID championship. When you look at the at the
record books one hundred years from now, no one's going
to say asterisk this is during COVID. Same thing with
the Lakers. It's a championship. You had to play, you
still had the PLA doesn't matter that. Uh, you know,
grandfather Lebron didn't have to travel, he didn't have to
do anything like that, and he was in a perfect situation. Yea,

(46:08):
he still got that chip.

Speaker 4 (46:09):
Yeah, he got it.

Speaker 3 (46:10):
As much as it hurts as much as it hurts me,
I thought the Clippers that was gonna be a year,
you know. But but like everybody said, the Clippers would
have won that year. Everybody would have wiped him off
the map. They would have been like, oh, that was
a that was a makeshift year. And I don't even
want to It hurts me every time I think about that.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Yeah, you just got to get a chip. You just
got to get a chip. And at the end of
the day, that's what they needed to do. They didn't
handle their business. Lo, it was more worried about getting
out to chick with Lemon Pepper win. Yeah, he was
more worried about getting out to the what do you
call that place in Magic City? And then and Paul
George this, you know, honestly, for me, this is why
I just lost it for Paul George, and he said, yeah, mentally,

(46:45):
I just wasn't there. This is what you get paid
to do. You've played this game all your.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
Life Paul George has been you know, I was pulling
for him when he was in Indiana. I mean, but
I now know why they couldn't get over the hump
and beat Lebron when it when he you know, when
he was with Miami, just because Paul George, he just
doesn't have that that that fordag.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
He ain't got that. He ain't got that rough, rough rough.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
And make the money these players make.

Speaker 3 (47:10):
Now, yes, yes, you know, which is why again I
still give it up for Kawhi. You know a lot
of people are down on him, but the brother he makes,
he does his best to get back and you know
he fights back through those injuries.

Speaker 4 (47:23):
I mean, he could just say, hey, you know, I'm hurt.
I'm just not gonna play.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
But you see him always fighting back and again, you know,
that's why I always tip my cap to him. Again,
even guys like Chris Paul, who's been in the league
twenty plays, you know, almost twenty something years. I mean,
you know, I think, what's seventeen years now? Coach, I
don't I don't know who he's you know, but that
that that that get up and get after it every
year and they're trying to make it happen.

Speaker 4 (47:43):
I definitely that's.

Speaker 2 (47:44):
Going to be interesting when you said, Chris Paul, it's
going to be interesting because they're saying that he's probably
he probably not gonna start no. And the crazy thing
is I didn't realize is his family was still in La.

Speaker 3 (47:53):
Yes, I like him just because he's really like a
player coach, right. He had as that coach kind of
mentality where he's gonna get after you and he's going
to be a really great extension of Tylo on the bench.
Both of them kind of have that same scrappy mentality.
They're both undersized player yes that has success in the NBA.
So I really like him coming back and he wants

(48:16):
nothing more ton to win a ring back home for
the Clippers. So he's definitely somebody is motivated to do
some great things. I wanted to speak on this real
quick before we get a chance to wrap up. I
know we're going to be out of here in a
little bit. But our guy, our guy, Eric Sodenheimer mentioned
something we kind of talked about earlier, when high school

(48:39):
teams go to Sofi and the increase what it takes.
He was just saying that Sofi Games coach B are
now going to be thirty dollars per ticket. Jesus, thirty
dollars per ticket. That's before you even got a policied
in there or soda pop thirty dollars. And you know,

(49:01):
Coach b that's not coming with parking.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
No, no, hopefully that don't charge one hundred dollars. Well,
when I took the wife to see Beyonce, it was
one hundred.

Speaker 4 (49:09):
And fifty dollars to park. Are you serious?

Speaker 2 (49:12):
I wish I wish I was lying it was. And
that's why the wife looks at me and say, oh,
one hundred fifty dollars, that's crazy, I said. I looked
at it and said, what would you like for me to do?
Do you want me to turn around? And do you
want us to go back?

Speaker 4 (49:23):
Right?

Speaker 2 (49:23):
Like? What would you like for me to do?

Speaker 4 (49:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (49:26):
I mean this is and it's in Inglewood. I'm not
parking on this. I'm not saying these weird places.

Speaker 4 (49:30):
I'm just about to say, you know where we are,
don't you?

Speaker 3 (49:33):
Yes, yes, yes, not parking, but yeah, no, interesting interesting dynamic. Uh,
it was saying it was one of these people were
talking about how the preseason games for the charge of
their tickets available right now for the preseason games for
seventeen dollars. Yet the games for these kids are going

(49:55):
to be thirty bucks. Yeah, that's insane. We've been talking
about that and what happens is I think, what what's
going on now? I think maybe these teams, coach, we
are trying to work on getting a profit share, because
we talked about this. When you go to sofar, you
do you get I mean, what do we know about that?

Speaker 2 (50:10):
Well, I know that they they'd reached out to us
and you have to you have to sell X amount
of tickets and I get it. It's a big venue.
It costs a lot to heat and cool that place,
and you have to have staffing there. And it was
I don't remember that the number excase me now, but
I know there was a certain amount of tickets that
you had to sell per hour to break even. It
was just out of our price range. But that's the

(50:33):
thing about it. Its and that's the thing. It sounds
great to do a game in so far, it sounds wonderful,
but that is a big venue. When you have a
team that's getting a thousand, two thousand people and you're
talking about a stadium that holds forty thousand. That's that's
that's it doesn't look no, it doesn't look at at all.
We've done it.

Speaker 3 (50:50):
We've been at bigger stadiums where you bring in uh,
you know, a thousand people, you know, and like you said,
you know, you have a you have a football team
that maybe used to get you know, twenty five hundred,
and let's say you bring in three that day. It's
gonna look empty, you know, I mean it's gonna I mean,
you know, having twenty thousand in there, that's saying a
lot for that. So that downy one game, that was big,

(51:11):
that was a big, big deal right there.

Speaker 2 (51:12):
The bottom bowl they sold out. But even with twenty
thousand people, they couldn't fill up the top both it.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
Still looks empty in there, right you know, I mean
you know, when you I mean, if you are doing
the camera working there, you gotta kind of like tilt down.
I mean but again, you know, you know again, but
nothing to pooh pooh on in terms of filling out
that bottom bowl. That's that's significant right there. That's big, big,
and that's that's a huge deal. But again, now you
come in here and now the tickets are retelling for

(51:41):
thirty bucks. I don't know, Coach B. I don't know
what your thoughts are on now, Man.

Speaker 2 (51:44):
That's a lot. That is a lot when you think
of that experience. I guess it's the novelty of it
being a one off, Yeah, because now I wish I
would have gone to the Downy game. And I should
have gone to the Downy game because you know, it's
one of those situations because you know, if Downey were
to do it again, now you're not getting twenty thousand
people there. So it's just one of those one off games.
And it was a good game because it's the rivalry game. Yeah,

(52:05):
But to think of this that this tells you how
modern day and Bosco look because they tried to get
them to go and they're like, no, we'll pass. So
I mean, and modern day plays at a nice facility
as well. You know, they play at the college.

Speaker 3 (52:18):
College about to say yeah yeah, and they feel that joint.
We've been there, done that game several times. Love that
booth over there for good stories, two stories, and they
fill that thing up without fail every time. So it's
a real big deal, big time football out there. Some
other stuff to watch today. We talked about some some
other games that are on. Obviously the Dodgers gonna be
playing to that at six, But coach Coach Be's team

(52:41):
and our guy Justin Herbert, don't call me Sherbert. He said,
I want to play today. I need to see a
real I need to get hit a little bit. I
don't know what your thoughts are about that, having your
having your guy Herbie Herb get hit today, but he
said he wants to get hit today. So you know
they lock up with the Rams, that's a four pm game.

(53:01):
You got the Steelers, uh, you know with fifty year
old Aaron Rodgers. Uh, you know they're gonna be playing
the Buccaneers today at four o'clock. You got the Jets
and Giants at four o'clock. You got my Dallar Cowboy
without Michaeh.

Speaker 4 (53:15):
Parsons. I'm still upset about that. I got Jerry.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
I'm still Jerry's I answered my phone, But Jerry, that's
me calling signed Micah right now. But you got the
Cowboys locking up with the Ravens at four o'clock.

Speaker 4 (53:27):
And then you have the Donkeys aka the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
They're playing the Cardinals, got the Saints playing the Jaguars
at my fact, my fault. The last game for today
is going to be the Buccaneers versus Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (53:39):
Again.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
That's gonna be a six thirty pm game for all
our football fanatics out there.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
Yeah. And one good thing that's gonna be a good
thing of football. One thing we missed. And I just
I just I thought about it because I was just
googling some stuff for our guy, Sire Gaines, and he
was actually they posted Boise State posted this on August fifth.
He has been named to the Dope Walker Award watch list,
so you gotta think he is ready to step up.

(54:04):
I remember when he was in studio, We're like, oh,
you're gonna play, you gonna play. He's like, no, man,
the running back that they have right now is a legit.
And boy did he not lie Aston.

Speaker 3 (54:14):
His name was Ashton Jeffries Gentry, No Jeffries, oh Jeffries.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
Yeah. I thought it was Gentry because he got by
the gentry gentry. Good call, good call as gentry.

Speaker 3 (54:25):
Yeah, and obviously to your point, yes, he is a
real deal.

Speaker 4 (54:29):
We kept going, wait a minute, you're side of your game.
You're the real deal.

Speaker 3 (54:32):
But no, no, there's a reason why he wasn't gonna play,
but even the time he did get he is a
man child out there. He reminds me so much, Coach,
be of Adrian Peterson. When he runs, he's just I
mean he runs, it's so intimidating. He's such a big kid.
He's gonna be impressed with to watch win is their
first game, Coach, because I gotta be next to a
TV when he.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
Played, Oh voy I pulled out. I will get that
up right now.

Speaker 4 (54:54):
Again, we're talking about our guy.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
Ashton Gentry was the back.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
Gentry yeah, yes, yeah, so yeah, so he was the
real deal. But Sire Gains, folks, I'm here to tell
you we've had this young man in studio. I mean,
he almost willed Orange Vista to a championship by himself
two years ago. Uh well almost a year ago now,
uh you know, and Sire Gains, he's a running back
for Boise State from Orange Vista.

Speaker 4 (55:20):
This kid is the real deal.

Speaker 3 (55:23):
He's He's even been mentored even by a guy Alexander
Madison as well, who was who was also another running back.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
Yeah that makes sense because they're both both boys. Got
so their first game is going to be in Tampa
Florida against South Florida on on Thursday, August twenty eighth,
So they're doing Thursday games as well. But I mean,
you gotta think that makes sense when you're when you're
considered a lower a lower level.

Speaker 4 (55:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (55:45):
So yeah, still love that field, Boise State Field, that's
one of the more intimidating fields, you know, with that.
I don't know what that is that that turquoise, I
don't know what that is.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
The blue turf. They call it the blue turf because
that Boisees they're there. Their colors are blue and orange.
So so that's and speaking of that, they're in the
Mountain West. So you know, when you talk about a
team coming anytime anywhere, GC, you got what they asked for.
They're in the Mountain West this year. So the teams
haven't split off yet. So now they're gonna have to
play the A football team. No basketball basketball, so they're

(56:14):
going to have to play the San Diego States. The
boys sees the Air Force, UNLV Nevada, Fresno State, Colorado State,
Utah State.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
Real quick, are we ready? You're going to see real quick? Yes,
we are, real quick. I got to make sure I
put this out a News Alert. I was at the
gym the other day, you know, getting myself together, and
ran into our MVP, young Miles Walker.

Speaker 4 (56:39):
Big shoutut to Miles Walker.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
You know we were talking about he was our MVP
of an All Star game, playing an All Star game
out of Roosevelt High School. Great kid, and I was
really happy to see that. Towards the end of the season.
Matter of fact, literally almost like a week after he
left our radio station, he got picked up by Nevada night.

Speaker 4 (56:56):
So he'll be, he'll be.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
He was out down here for a week, he said,
you know again, love to see that he was went
out partying. You know again, if he's doing that, that's
his own thing. But I like to see that he
was in the gym getting the work out in. Even
during this week he was at home. So great, great
young man. Can't wait to see what he does at Nevada.

Speaker 4 (57:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
And you know, speaking of that, and I think he
sat out for a year. When you talk about kids
that you ran into in the gym and is ready
to go, it's sorry. Our guy that went to Louisville.
Now he's at GCU. He sat out for a year.
He's the seven footer, Yes, I gotta get his five am. Yes, yes,
shrin Dennis Evan, Dennis Evans. So GC is promoting him now, man, man.

Speaker 3 (57:38):
Let me tell you something I can't wait to see.
He was over at New Mexico, if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
No, he went to Louisville.

Speaker 3 (57:43):
Louisville, my bad coach Louisville how they call it. But no, yeah,
I did see that he's gonna be going over there.
That's a huge pickup, number one, coach G. But yeah,
that is our guy, mister five am. Uh you know,
I might have to get that trademark real quick, coach B,
because that young man has a future out of Riverside.
Went to Hillcrest, and again I used to this, I

(58:04):
would be I would try to be the first person
over at twenty four our fitness, and he would always
beat me there five am. He's in there getting busy
and it would just be him and his trainer in there.

Speaker 4 (58:14):
So wish and mister Evans none but the best.

Speaker 2 (58:16):
Yeah, And he did not sit out so he said
he was due to injury. So that's why he didn't
play last year. So but I tell you GCU is
hyping him up and real deal. Yeah, he's I can't wait.
Now we both are antelopes, so I love it. Man,
good stuff.

Speaker 3 (58:30):
Yeah that right there, coach, we can have me antelope
and right there. But yes again, I like the kid
knows family well, and again I wish him nothing but
the best. But again, thanks everybody for tuning in. I
hope everybody gets a chance to watch football.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
Great.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
Look, Friday Night Lights kicks off this week, so make
sure you guys get a chance to go support those
high schools.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (58:49):
And again we'll be thank you as for continue to
support us. I am your I mean, you are listening
to Coach being eternal.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
