Speaker 9 (06:38):
All right, thank you so much for having me here.
I'm coach Costa. I'm with Tim mclavalley of volleyball this year,
I'm alongside co coaching with coach Cat this year. We
took that position for our team and super excited to
be here. I appreciate the opportunity.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Fantastic. That's good stuff right there. We're really excited about
that man. You can ware come on in, come on,
ye yeah, I know you're taking some pictures and souffwork.
We're talking about the photographer. Yeah, so coach, tell me
about this man again. You guys, you guys have had
you guys have been known for volleyball for quite some
time now. But you guys, this year something happened. Obviously
talked to us about this summer. The preparation went into
(07:17):
the twenty twenty five season.
Speaker 9 (07:18):
Yes, we're very excited for this season. We started this
season we lost a big couple, big pieces from last year.
That one of them be Maddie Snow going to Pepperdine
and then Arlei Berrow going to cal State LA. But
we're very excited to the girls to really rise up
and step in us position do an amazing job. I
(07:41):
see she's here with us today.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
She's one of Ali Barrows.
Speaker 9 (07:44):
She did a she's doing a great job this season,
a freshman coming in and taking that position on the
right side. Also for another senior that graduated from last year, Allison,
she was a great piece for us.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
So the girls really stooped up.
Speaker 9 (07:57):
And this summer we've been talking about that to a team,
the team over the eye right, Yes, filling it up
and being there for each other and every opportunity they have.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
So that's I think what this season is about for
us understood. That's good stuff. And again we're right here
live on Fox Sports Radio, and we have to make
it a valley girls volleyball right here, Varsity Gore with
volleyball right here live in studio. Now, what would you
say is that the component two Because again we talked
about this, you said you guys were I want to
make sure we get this right. So your your tenthon state.
I want to make sure I say that right. We're
eighty eight respect on that. That's really awesome. Yes, yeah,
(08:32):
it's a great.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
No, yeah it is.
Speaker 9 (08:34):
I think the pieces that we have. We have a
strong senior this year going to Boise. She's on our
outside heater alongside with a Nie. She's here with us
as well. Both of these guys are forced in the
front row. But I think we constantly talk about what
the girls their championships is made when the stands are empty.
We got to do the work and before we go
(08:55):
out there and perform. Yes, and we've been putting a
lot of emphas on that with the team and really
getting prepared.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
So when we show up already fantastic. That's good stuff.
And again we are right here live with Tamacula Valley again,
best of luck to you, coach. I want to bring
your assistant, your co coach in co Coach has good
stuff right there. Yes, and thank again so much, coach.
We appreciate that. Again, coach, please do us the courtesy
of introducing yourself to our live radio audience. But what
a microphone. I want to make sure everybody, Hey, there
you go.
Speaker 10 (09:19):
Is that good?
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 11 (09:20):
Hello, My name's Kat Pierce and I am one of
the coaches at Tamakea the Valley Volleyball.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Fantastic congratulations. Congratulations on the season ten and two and
you guys played serious competition. Talk about the level of
competition that you guys, I mean these young ladies are
they encounter on a week to week basis.
Speaker 11 (09:38):
Yeah, when we went when we started looking at the scheduling,
you know, in the spring, we talked to the team
and they really wanted to compete against the best. So
we tried to stack our preseason with teams that we
knew were going to challenge us. We felt like we
would get better by being challenged, and we wanted to
have our weaknesses exposed early and so we can bring
it back to the practice and work on that.
Speaker 10 (09:59):
So that was kind of our focus.
Speaker 11 (10:00):
We wanted to compete, and we wanted to compete against
the best and you know in the area.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
So in the state now and now you guys are
tell me about this because you guys are in the
Southwestern League. I mean, I know it's chaparale out there.
I mean talk about I mean, you know again that
I would call them the usual suspects because that area
is known for high quality volleyball. But just talk about
your league and some of your goals in terms of
how you guys are are going to be approaching league play,
which I can't think I just just started if it
(10:25):
has not started already. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (10:27):
No, we come from a very strongly We've got a
lot of really really strong players in our area, and
you know, these girls know them, They've grown up with them,
so they know them well and they're out for blood, right.
You know, if all the teams a league starts, they're
excited and you know they're great friends off the court,
but they love to battle. So we we really want
to defund that league title. The girls have a goal,
(10:47):
you know, they want to go out and dominate league
and show everybody that we're the best. Yeah, and so
that's kind of the focus with the training and with
the mindset and practice.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Fantastic good stuff. Well again, coach, congratulations. We had the
pleasure to be right here in studio with the top
volleyball team specifically here in the Inland Empire. But number eight,
like glad, coach put me up on that. I want
to make sure we put that out there again. Number
eight here in California. Coach, congratulations, best of luck on
the continued season on the rest of the season. Excuse
me and look at I want to make sure we
(11:16):
get these players in here. I know they're excited. They
got up nice and early. Everybody has a nice smile
on the face, but I know they put on their
game face when it's time to go to war. So
young lady, please put that microphone up. Introduce yourself to
our live radio audience. Please.
Speaker 12 (11:29):
Yes, Hi, my name is Brooklyn Paris. I'm closted twenty
twenty seven and I go to T. Smanco Vai High School.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Fantastic now, how is it being a Golden Bear? You
guys are the top team here in the Elline Empire,
as the coach said, number eight in California. But for you,
being a player, how does that feel?
Speaker 12 (11:45):
Yeah, it's great. You know, walking around school, everybody knows
their name. Everybody knows from top eight, you know, lead
champions from last year. So it's just an honor.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Really fantastic. Now for you you guys have had some
really some serious competition. Obviously, you guys just took care
of business with Chaparral the other day. But for you,
what's been like the big game? I know you guys
played Centennial, even your athletic director talked about the atmosphere
for that game. But maybe for you personally, what was
like so far this year? What was the biggest game
for you personally?
Speaker 12 (12:12):
Yeah? I think personally it was the Centennial game. You know,
it was our first game home opener, and I think
we came out strong. We knew Centennial, we knew what
they were gonna do. We knew that they were a
strong team. But I think we just we never stopped competing.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
You know.
Speaker 12 (12:26):
We gave it are all through all five sets and
we came out on top.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
So fantastic. Well, congratulations, young ladies. Best of luck on
the rest of the season, and keep up to good work. Okay,
there it is right there. We are live in studio
right here, Fox Sports Radio. I E Sports that with
the Golden Bears. TA making a valley, young lady, go ahead,
come on up. She looks a little shy. It's all good.
Is this your first time being our radio yes, okay,
you're all good. You're gonna make it happen. So put
that microphone up. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Please.
Speaker 13 (12:51):
Hi, I'm an I Francois.
Speaker 14 (12:53):
I'm class of twenty twenty six and.
Speaker 10 (12:55):
I go to Tocca Valley High School.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Now we know one of the things. You guys have
these great smiles right now, but I know when the
when the game comes on, you guys are fierce. You
guys to yell in. Talk about the intensity of volleyball,
the sport, and how you guys approach it as a team.
Speaker 14 (13:08):
It's really it really comes down to teamwork. And I
think we're really like close teams, so we're able to
back each other up a lot, and we know when
like one person's down or whatever, we can like pull
each other up when you know the game is like
close or hard. And that's something that we've really been
successful in like this season, and I think that's something
that's led us to win a majority of our games.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Oh okay, and then for you personally, again, you guys
have played some great competition this year. And put on microphone,
you can adjust. There you go, it's all good, there
you go, But you guys have played some really great
competition this year. What would you say has been the
biggest game for you personally? And then maybe you guys
can maybe kind of talk about one for the team
as well, but for you personally.
Speaker 14 (13:46):
First, I agree with Brooklyn. I think the Centennial game
was definitely like the biggest. It was like afterwards, I
was like, wow, like that was the best game I've
probably ever played in my life. It was really it
was too for fun and yeah, as a team, I
think I think the majority of us would agree that
that was like our biggest game, and I think that's
(14:07):
a really good like building Yes, the first game, yest, Yeah,
it was like our first game and we knew that,
you know, every game after that had to be building
off of that, like the energy and just like how
we played. So I think that was a really good,
like just game in general.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Fantastic. Well again, best of lucky, young lady, keep up
the good work, and thank you for joining us today. Okay,
there it is Fox Sports Radio. We are right here
live in the studio, and so adjust the mic for
the young lady. Oh no problem, please, young lady. Do
is the courtesy of introducing yourself to our live radio audience.
Speaker 15 (14:39):
Hi, I'm heigh Cy Parregrino. I'm graduating class of twenty
twenty seven and I go to Temecula Valley High School.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Okay, fantastic, good stoke ahead, put out my I want
to make sure everybody can hear you in the world
right there. Now talk about this now. I want to
hear from you. How was the preparation? I know, coach,
I mean, you guys play high level volleyball, But for you,
how was the preparation this season? Who would you say?
Speaker 16 (14:58):
This?
Speaker 15 (14:59):
Preparation was really really important coming out playing Centennial first
game on the first day of school. So we've just
had NonStop like summer training and just going over going
back to the basics and building from there. And we're
just a really like tight knit team, which really helps us.
And I think we just really just went from there
(15:21):
and just gave it our all.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah. Now now again, everybody collectively assas Centennial.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
That was the big game.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Now again, I'll repeat as I talked to your coach
about this. Even your athletic director said he was a
little blown away by just how the crowd was. But
for the folks that weren't there, describe the atmosphere. How
was it? It was amazing.
Speaker 15 (15:38):
It was just neck and neck game, I'd have to say,
like just back and forth and the energy on on
off the core and then the stands was just amazing
and it was just like it's the perfect home opener.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
That's good stuff right there. Now do you have now
for you right now? And when you guys are together
as a team, what would you say are some of
the big time goal that you guys have the team?
Speaker 15 (16:00):
Some of our big time goals is just keeping our
like tight knit, like bond with each other. Because on
the court, yes, like we're super close, but off the court,
which is super important, like we are basically a family.
You know, we see each other at school, we practice
every day together, and we're just really close and I
think that's really important.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Fantastic. Well again, best a lucky young lady. Keep up
the good work and we'll be keeping an eye in kay,
come on, come on in and coach again. We are
right here, live really really happy about this. So it
was a really great talented team to make the Valley
High School. Now, coach, what's on the docket, what's coming up?
I know you guys are are in league now, but
for you as as a coaching staff, how are you
guys moving around? Like, what's the mentality right now?
Speaker 9 (16:40):
Mentality right now? Coach Kat says, I was really we
separated this season in three in three phases right the preseason.
We knew we had a tough season to prepare us.
Now we're focused on league, that's all, and then and
then we're going to think about CIF and State like
we did last year. But I think it's both of us.
Coach got and I kind of bring kind of different
and thanks to the team that has helped the team,
(17:02):
and we're really excited for that working together and have
matched really well. The girls have been very open accepted
to what we're we're we're passing to them and we're
excited about that.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Fantastic. Well again, so thank you so much. I want
to give you a quick second to at least kind
of maybe get some shouts out to some of the
administrators who maybe helped out the program, because I know,
I know it's a team effort. Is yeah, yeah, the
team effort, but please go ahead take time.
Speaker 9 (17:25):
Absolutely I need I cannot you know, forget about the
it's it's it's a they make it a lot easier
on us, right the support our athletic director, John Harneck,
He's always been there for us. I always say coaching
high school is not easy, you know, like with everything
that we're all getting paid all this, but they make
(17:45):
a lot easier on us. And when we have the
support from the school and the administrators, and we always
see the support there in our home games, they're always
there present, they're always like working for us. It makes
our job a lot easier that we can just focus
on the the program and growing the program.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Fantastic. Well again, coach, thank you so much. We really
are happy to have you guys in. You have a
great bunch of young ladies there. And again best of
luck and again, thank you so much for representing there
in the empire Weil.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Okay, thank you so much for having us here there.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
It is right there again, tamake a valley volleyball. I'll
come out there. I'll take a picture with you guys.

(20:38):
d we are right here live at the iHeart Radio studios.
It is I Sports Net on Fox Sports Radio. I
am your host eternal and again we are streaming twenty
four to seven on the iHeartRadio app. We are rocking
and rolling again. I want to make sure everybody please
please please go to iesports Net. Make sure you guys like, share,
comment on the top ten. Again, we listed the top
(21:01):
ten Inland Empire football teams. It is a lot lot,
a lot of a lot of competition going on. But
without further ado, we have a team. We are really excitedly.
We rarely get a chance to get this school in
here and we are so so appreciative that we were
able to connect the dots today. But coach, please do
us the courtesy. I'm going to make sure I turn
your microphone up here, there we go. Please do us
(21:21):
the courtesy of introducing yourself to our live radio artists.
We'll put a microphone up. Introduce yourself to our live
radio artists. Please, yes, man, I.
Speaker 10 (21:27):
Thank you for having us.
Speaker 19 (21:29):
I am Heather and Gleima, head coach of Girls Fog
football at Upland High School.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Fantastic good stuff right there, coach, you guys love you
guys are playing some good ball right now. I know
there was a lot of people that were like, we
first posted the rankings and let me tell you, some
of your parents said, what's going on? Make sure you
got make sure you put Upland and that. I said, Hey,
I got to start doing We had to start doing
a better job. But again, you guys are doing phenomenal.
(21:54):
Talk to our audience a little bit about the team
and how again, obviously you guys are eleven and three.
I'm gonna make sure I got that right. Yeah, eleven
and three right now. But talk about again the preparation
to kind of get to this point.
Speaker 19 (22:05):
Oh gosh, the preparation. There's a lot that goes into it.
But I think the thing that sets us apart is
our perseverance. You know, When we make mistakes, we learn
from them and we grow. Our motto is one percent stronger,
get one percent stronger every day, and these girls have
been doing that since last year. So when things go wrong,
you know, we go back to the drawing board, get better,
(22:27):
and we just keep pushing forward. You know, when we lose,
we make mistakes, we flush it. When we move on,
we learn from it. So that's what I think has
really set us apart. The other thing is the culture
that we've built. These girls are sisters, not only on
the field but off the field.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
And I saw them doing the TikTok back then.
Speaker 10 (22:46):
I mean, I love it though.
Speaker 19 (22:47):
You know, how's energy, right, Absolutely, we do a lot
of bonding stuff, but it's easy because they genuinely love
each other. And so the culture we built to his
sisterhood and so they play for each other before themselves.
And I think obviously you know the proof is in
our record, right eleven and three.
Speaker 10 (23:05):
So they play with heart.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Yeah, okay, And again Fox Sports Radio, we are right
here at live in the studio with up in high
school girls flag football. Just talk about this sport. It
is just taken off One of the things I tell
the guys all the time. When they come here, I said, man,
you guys better watch out. These young ladies gonna start
taking over these Friday nights on you guys. But it's
talk about the sport, the enthusiasm that comes from the players,
and obviously the audience that just loves to watch it.
Speaker 10 (23:27):
Oh yeah, it's so exciting.
Speaker 19 (23:28):
This is the fastest growing sport in history right in
the last few years.
Speaker 10 (23:32):
It's just exploded.
Speaker 19 (23:35):
By the time some of our freshmen our seniors, it's
going to be a D one college sport.
Speaker 10 (23:39):
You know, a lot of our girls are already going
playing in college.
Speaker 19 (23:43):
But it's exciting and overwhelming, you know, in a good
sense to see the community come out and support everybody
get excited. Yes, you know, no disrespect to boys football,
but the hype these days is more girls flag football.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
You know, hey, look we're here. We see it, right, yeah,
we see it.
Speaker 19 (24:01):
So you know, we don't get our we don't get
our Friday night lights, but we do in our own sense,
and you know, it's it's humbling and yeah, it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
It's super exciting, fantastic. Now I want to talk to
you a little bit about your season. Obviously again up
in high school football, girls flag football. Excuse me, you
guys played one of the top teams here in the
Iland Empire, being Western Christian recently. You know, obviously a
game came down to the twenty five twenty and we
again much love to our to everybody over there Western Christian,
(24:32):
But talk about that game a little bit. That just
really kind of shows you, guys, where you are competing with,
you know, really the top team here in the Inland Empire.
Speaker 19 (24:39):
Absolutely, you know, it's a it's been an honor to
work alongside Chris.
Speaker 10 (24:44):
You know, he's obviously been in this for a long time.
He knows what he's doing.
Speaker 19 (24:47):
So the fact that our girls are able to compete
with them, and you know, the last couple of years
have been right there with them. This year was pretty upsetting.
We weren't one hundred percent. You know, a couple of
our huge athletes were sick, dealing with injuries, and so
I felt like if we were, if we were healthy,
it could have been a different outcome for us. But
you know, with that said, we still kept them to
a touchdown and they are, like, you know, they're D one,
(25:10):
no question, D one team. So I'm super proud of us,
no doubt that next year we can get that title
and beat them. But the fact that, yeah, we're competing
with those D one schools. You know, we played Canyon
early on, way early on, and they're another D one.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Yes, yeah I saw that. Yes, exactly right, you guys
right there with Canyon again twelve twelve nothing but still
nonetheless yeah, ca Caanyan puts a lot of points up
on folks traditionally, So just to be right there again
to the testament.
Speaker 10 (25:35):
To your squad one percent, Yeah, super proud of me.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
And again real quick before we get your we want
to make sure we bring your players on. Talk about
your style of play. What would you say, you know,
when people come on there to see you guys. Are
you guys just to throw it all over the field?
How how would you describe your style of play over upland.
Speaker 10 (25:52):
No, we're very smart and utilizing what we have.
Speaker 19 (25:54):
You know, I have an amazing wide receiver who I
think if I you know, we put the ball anywhere,
she's going to get her hands on it.
Speaker 10 (26:01):
But her thing is that girl, can you know? And
she's here with us today. I'll let her talk.
Speaker 19 (26:04):
But Leah can move up and down the field like
none other. I mean, there are a lot of boys
that I've seen, so we utilize that.
Speaker 12 (26:12):
You know.
Speaker 10 (26:13):
You know, we run the ball when we can utilize
our quarterback.
Speaker 18 (26:18):
You know.
Speaker 19 (26:18):
However, you know our defense, you know, whatever it is.
We're just we're smart about using what we have to
their potential. We're not trying to be.
Speaker 10 (26:28):
Superstars with all the trick plays, you know. We just
want to have fun, play with heart and use what
we got.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
That's good stuff right there. We'll get best of luck
throughout the course of the season. Really exciting to see
the program doing so well. Again, it's such an early
phase here in the sport as well. So again, coach,
keep up the good work and best luck this season.
Speaker 10 (26:49):
Thank you so much for having us.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
There is Fox Sports. Wait, we're gonna go ahead and
bring in the players. Now the players turn to come
on in again. We have upland high school flag football.
These young ladies are doing phenomenal this season already right now,
with the wonderful record of eleven and three. Young lady,
go ahead, put that microphone up, introduce yourself to our
live radio audience.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Please Hi, I'm Leah Davis, number twenty six on upland
Flag Football.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Oh fantastic, good stuff right there. Congratulations Miss Davis on
a wonderful start to your season already. Now talk about this,
what do you How exciting is it for you to
start the season. I mean, tell me about this excitement again?
Starting in August, you guys knew that it was the
season was going to start. How was the excitement for you?
Speaker 2 (27:29):
I was very, very excited to get back out on
the field. I love flag football. It's one of my
favorite sports. When we when we had our first scrimmage,
I just knew. I was like I was excited to
get back out with the team, the whole new teammates
and just to start a new bond with some of
the new girls. And when we first started our first
(27:50):
game and when we won, I just felt a different
type of feeling. And being a leader on the team too,
it was just like amazing to see the connections and
I was just very excited to.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Be back out on there. Good stuff, fantastic And again
we were right here lined with upland Flag Football here
at the iHeart Radio Studios on Fox Sports Radio. Now,
young lady, you guys have played some great football so
far this season, but what would you say is has
been like the most exciting and maybe like the best
game for you personally.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
I think the most exciting game was definitely against Rancho
because all the three games that we played against them
have been very close and back to back, and it
was like a rivalry and like the tension and like
the what's the word, just like the excitement against like
(28:41):
both teams.
Speaker 20 (28:42):
It was just very.
Speaker 13 (28:45):
What's the word, I don't know, It was just like
very exciting.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Indeed, and it was like, I don't know it, just
well you again, will you guys obviously came out with
the victory. Yeah, so I mean so I mean, were
you guys excited to come out with the victory.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Yes, of course definitely because they were, you know, a
hard team to be but we just came out with
the confidence and we won.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Fantastic. Well, young lady, best of luck again, congratulations on
a great start to the season, and we'll be talking
to you and looking forward to seeing you soon. Okay,
thank you. There It is Fox Sports Radio. We have
up in high school right here live in the studio
here on Fox Sports Radio. Flag Football. You're not gonna
hy villain. I promise you can make it. You're gonna
be good. Put that microphone up, young lady, introduce yourself
(29:30):
to our live radio audience.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Please.
Speaker 21 (29:31):
My name is Rebecca Ewing. I'm number five, and I'm
the quarterback for up In high school girls flag football.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Yes, indeed, fantastic. Congratulations. Now you guys are eleven and three.
Talk about how this preparation act to practice you you
guys had to go through before you guys even started.
I think your first game it says here it was
on August eighth, But prior to August eighth, I would
tell me how you guys were working on getting prepared
for this season.
Speaker 21 (29:54):
Oh yeah, I mean we've been practicing since before the
school year ended last year. And you know, we go
every day, we're working out. We have a new conditioning coach,
so we're working hard.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Shout out the conditioning coach real quick.
Speaker 21 (30:06):
I'm miss Garbage.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Okay, okay, shout out to miss Garbag. Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 21 (30:09):
Yeah, And I mean we're in there watching film all
the time, like we're always doing something.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Fantastic, this stuff sitting around.
Speaker 12 (30:16):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Now, I ask you the same thing I ask one
of your teammates. Tell me about what was your best game,
like the most exciting game for you this season out
of all of your let's see if my mass is correct,
fourteen games this season.
Speaker 21 (30:29):
Oh, I mean my favorite was when we played in
the Upland Tournament and we played South Hills.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Okay, that was a close.
Speaker 21 (30:34):
Game, like the whole game, and then it came down
to the very end when I threw Leah the winning
touchdown past she had topped the girl.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Now, now for our audience that doesn't know what that means,
please explain what that means.
Speaker 21 (30:48):
Oh, well, she caught the ball right over the girl's head,
just all.
Speaker 22 (30:52):
Right on top of her.
Speaker 18 (30:53):
Here.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
She does that quite often. Now, now you'd be in
the quarterback right now. How does that feel being able
to make sure that just having the confidence of knowing
that you have a player that can go up and
grab the ball like that at any at any moment.
Speaker 21 (31:06):
Yeah, it's amazing. Like anytime, like I'm in like a
position where I'm like, oh, shoot, what do I do?
I always am looking for Leah Ari two like those
those are my girls.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Fantastic. We'll best of luck this season again. You guys
are really really looking good represented for the baseline league.
But keep up the good work. We'll keep eye on you. Okay,
thank you. There it is right there. It's Fox Sports Radio.
We are right here live and studio with Uppland. That
the high Night coach is the Highlanders all across the
board like girls too, she said, She said, Okay, we're
working on it. We're working on it, Scott. Okay, okay, okay,
(31:39):
big deal. Okay, Now you know we have we have
one of our letterman Jack. I mean, she's a multiple
sport athlete. That do I hear that? Okay, I got
that correct. Young lady, please put that microphone up. Introduce
yourself to our live radio audience. Please.
Speaker 16 (31:49):
Hi, I'm Ariana Velosquez. I'm number six and I'm a
slot receiver.
Speaker 12 (31:53):
There.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
It is fantastic this stuff. Now, you guys, you have
a plan some excellent football right now. But I gotta
ask you this more on what position do you play?
Speaker 10 (32:01):
I'm a slight receiver.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Okay, you're a slight receiver. Now talk about the gear,
because I know it's a big deal. You know, especially
young ladies. You gotta have the socks, and I know
there's some people like to wear the eye paint. But
talk about for you, how do you approach I mean,
do you lay everything on the bed the day of
the game? How do you approach it?
Speaker 22 (32:18):
The gear stinks, let me tell you right now, it
smells like victory. That's like, yeah, I try to keep
it clean, but I just keep it simple.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
My gloves, you.
Speaker 16 (32:27):
Know, my mouth guard, Yes, it is it a particular
color white right now, but I'm going to think I'm
gonna get some pink ones.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Are you going?
Speaker 16 (32:34):
I just wished my cleat so they got a match?
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Okay, okay, so so we got it. We got it.
We gotta be coordinating right there. Okay, good stuff. Now
for you, what was the most exciting game for you
this season? Obviously you guys have uh just a great
record this year eleven and three. But for you, what
was the best game?
Speaker 16 (32:48):
Definitely, like anticipation wise, the Western Christian game, Yes, was
one that I was one hundred percent looking forward to,
especially coming off last year. Like I know, it was
one of our big goals to beat them, and even
though we didn't come out on top, just like getting
ready for that game and just like preparing was just
so much fun and so much excitement. And I really
know that like next year we're gonna come out on top,
and I'm excited for that.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
That's good stuff, right there. Well, young lady again, best
of luck to season. There is now well, I don't
want to I don't want to get you guys in
no trouble, but is there a game you guys are
looking forward to, I mean the rest of the season
right now, because you guys again, you guys have rancho again.
But is there another game coming up where you got
you got you and the team are like, we can't
wait to play then?
Speaker 16 (33:24):
Yeah, Eda Wanda for sure. Okay, I know that, like
us being in the same community, like we kind of
all kind of know the girls, and we're kind of.
Speaker 13 (33:30):
Excited to see how that goes.
Speaker 16 (33:32):
Like there's a lot of competition in the air, a
lot of big talk.
Speaker 10 (33:34):
So definitely something we're looking forward to.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Fantastic, Well, young lady, best luck this season. It congratulations
on a great start. Okay. Thanks there. It is Fox
Sports Radio. We have up in high school right here,
live and studio girls flag football. All right, young lady,
go ahead, she brought to Jersey in and everything. Let's
get it going or I put that microphone up, introduce
yourself to our live radio audience please.
Speaker 23 (33:53):
Hello, I'm a lia conchraish, I'm number seventeen, and I'm.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
A safety and you're a safety. Okay, Now for you,
I mean, when you get an anterception, are do you do?
You look at the quarterback and say, don't ever throw
here again? What's your mentality?
Speaker 23 (34:06):
I think they should know not never to me?
Speaker 1 (34:10):
I like that. I like that, So so you approach
it like that. Yeah, I kind of have that mentality.
Don't throw it over here?
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Right?
Speaker 4 (34:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Okay, that's good stuff. Now tell me about this. I mean,
obviously you guys are really good, but tell me about
how your practices are. Are they intense? What do you guys?
How they're practice for you personally?
Speaker 23 (34:25):
For me personally, they are pretty intense. Like we are
very serious about our practices. We always do at least
thirty minutes of conditioning and we all go one hundred
and ten percent out and then we all separate into
our offense defense and we're still like everyone's going one
hundred percent. No one's doing less than that, and if
we are, we will get on those girls make sure
like hey, we got to lock in, especially for all
the upcoming competition that we do have especially against Rancho
(34:47):
and Eduwanda. So we definitely take it hundred ten percent
and we will never let up.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
That's good to Now, Here's what everybody wants to know.
I'm sure are you talking to the boys football team
and showing them your record right now? Are y'all doing
that at all? Are you'll kind of keeping it class?
Speaker 12 (35:02):
Oh?
Speaker 23 (35:02):
We should be doing that.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Like we were on Friday nights. Ye, I'm messing off
Friday night. Are you telling them stuff like that? Like
y'am messing off Friday night?
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Up?
Speaker 5 (35:10):
You know?
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Okay? But again, now now I'll ask you the same
thing I ask your teammates. What was one of the
big games for you? Talk about me? Because again, out
of all these great performances you guys have had all
fourteen of your your games, but what was the best
game for you personally? What was the best experience for
you personally?
Speaker 23 (35:27):
For me personally, I think it would be the second
game against Santiago in our Upland tournament because they I
think they told us that they had some of their
ghost girls come back and they were ready to beat us.
They wanted that come back from the first loss that
they had against us, and we were ready. We were
ready to play against them too. And I think that
game was also so electrifying. It was a close game
all out. I think we were tied for most of
(35:48):
the game and so like the last quarter and everyone
was like so hype in the stands, hype on both
sides of the field, and I it was just a
great game. It was electrifying.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yeah, phantasm, that's good stuff, right there were, young lady.
Best luck this season and keep up to good work. Okay,
there it is right there with a Fox Sports radio.
Is that right there? All right, coach coy, come on,
come on back in again. We are really excited to
have upland girls flag football. Coach, you got a wonderful
team right there.
Speaker 10 (36:12):
Thank you so much, I really do.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Yes, yes, the girls are all excited so real quick.
And again I always ask coaches just because you know,
it doesn't happen just just with you. I know you
have assistant coaches and administrators, but please go ahead. I
wanted to make sure you got to get some shout
out to your admin and the folks who are supporting
the team.
Speaker 19 (36:27):
Oh yeah, I mean, I'm we're nothing without my coaching staff.
I have my husband actually coaches alongside.
Speaker 10 (36:33):
Yes, fantastic Tom and Glima.
Speaker 19 (36:35):
And then our daughters are involved as little ball girls,
Brady and Dylan has to be. And then we added
Gen Garbick to our staff. She's been doing conditioning and
helping with the JV. And then Lane Haywood he's our
JV head coach and assist us on a defense for varsity.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Fantastic, Well, I coach again, you guys are doing phenomenal
right here? Is there a goal in mind right now? Again,
you guys obviously are eleven and three, but what's the
goal for you right now? You and your staff, as
you guys approached the remainder of the season, we take.
Speaker 10 (37:02):
It one game at a time. So right now we're focused.
Speaker 19 (37:04):
You know, we start league on Monday, and so we're
just focused on being one and oh on Monday, and
then we'll move on to the next game.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
One. I love the mentality. That's good stuff right there,
Coach Will again, best of luck this season, keep up
the great work, and thank you so much for making
yourself available this morning.
Speaker 10 (37:17):
Thank you so much for having us. We truly appreciate this.

appreciative that we have a very special guest here in
the studio making a historic trip here because it's the
(40:18):
first time we've ever had a cheerleading squad here in
the studio. So this is a great, great situation. So coach,
please do us the courtesy of introducing yourself to our
live radio audience.
Speaker 13 (40:27):
Well, good morning, and thank you so much for having us.
My name is Tasha.
Speaker 24 (40:33):
I'm the head coach at Kenyne Spring High School in
Marino Valley.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Yeah, yes, indeed, yes, yes, the PEP squad.
Speaker 24 (40:41):
I am just so excited that we have this opportunity
to come and represent ourselves, my team. Yes, I'm so
excited and just happy to be here. Just happy to
be here, and we are ready to go.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Yeah. You know back when I you know when I
think it feels like a million years ago when I
played football, you know, you know, I think I think
we were writing on stone then. But it was always great.
I know, cheer My cousin was a cheerleader, and she
used to always tell me like, you know, we work hard,
we do stuff, and we are we are at it,
you know, we we're sitting there like yeah, yeah whatever.
But you know, you know, her being my cousin, I
(41:16):
got a chance to watch it really really close birds
on our perspective, and I saw the work that went
involved in it, the travel, you know, the stuff that
has to happen, especially for folks like in your position,
and you got to keep all these young ladies together. Yes, yes, sir,
but this talk, I mean for the folks that don't know.
Talk about again the cheer squad, that the work that
kind of goes in, the preparation that goes into getting
(41:37):
these young ladies ready to perform.
Speaker 24 (41:39):
It takes a lot of preparation. A lot of people
sometimes don't understand our sport right because it's.
Speaker 13 (41:45):
It's not football basketball.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
You're not right.
Speaker 24 (41:49):
But it is a sport because we're throwing young ladies
in the air, we're bringing you know, they're jumping, they're.
Speaker 13 (41:55):
Splitting, and that takes a lot of work.
Speaker 24 (41:58):
As far as exercise, daily routine, I mean, practice, practice, practice,
it's a lot of pressure for them too, as far
as when you throw someone in the air, that trust
that when you come down, you're falling in the hand
of your teammate, you know. So I feel like our
preparation is we practice three to We practiced like three
(42:24):
days a week, three hours.
Speaker 5 (42:26):
Wow.
Speaker 13 (42:28):
We constantly I'm stay on my girls.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
You know what I'm saying, because it's twofold, because it's
just the sport and you have to worry about the
academic side. And then obviously the camaraderie take.
Speaker 24 (42:38):
On academics they know, so it's all around. And also
I'm a mentor right. My job is just not as
their coach, but also to mentor them through life, right,
so helps develop them and leadership as far as like
my captains, the girls that are on frontline.
Speaker 13 (42:55):
You know, I like to build leadership for the future,
just not.
Speaker 24 (42:58):
In our practices at our school before outside in the world.
Speaker 13 (43:02):
So I prepare them for everything that's good.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
Stuff that's good.
Speaker 4 (43:05):
Now.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
One of the other things I always I'm always astonished
by this, you know, because these young ladies are right
there in front of the I mean, you know, when
the crowd comes in, that's the first thing they're looking at.
They're looking at the cheers there. And these young ladies
can have a bad day, they could be going through
stuff at home, but they are up there. They got
to smile, They gotta you know, they just got to
put on that mask for that time. Talk about how
you kind of get them prepared to you know, no
matter what they're going through, they still got to go
(43:26):
out there and show that smile and have that kind
of cheer spirit.
Speaker 6 (43:29):
Well, first you got to.
Speaker 13 (43:30):
Have you know, the coach, which is I'm full of
life and spirit.
Speaker 22 (43:33):
Okay, get out there and you ask them.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
I'll do a chair Okay.
Speaker 10 (43:37):
My favorite cheer is victory.
Speaker 1 (43:39):
Okay, victory okay, okay.
Speaker 24 (43:41):
So first they have to feel that vibe coming from me, right,
and we are if the head coach has that vibe,
that excitement, that cheerful spirit, then of course I'm gonna
spread that amongst my teams, right, get them ready, let's chan,
let's get it going.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
Let's come on.
Speaker 24 (43:59):
You know that energy yet, that energy right, because I'm
trying to build for my team that we're a vibe. Yes, okay,
PEP squad is a vibe beset the atmosphere of the school.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
That's true. Words, that is that's it right there, put
a stamp on it. That was it right there, That's
that's it right there. Now Now again, now in terms
of another thing, I got a chance to talk to
you because obviously we're really excited about we're in negotiate,
we're talking about doing this cheer competition. But but talk
to me about like again, you guys are I think
you mentioned that you guys are a bit young, But
(44:31):
talk to I mean in terms of competition, when you
guys look at stuff like that as a as a
as a squad, how do you guys approach that because
thats when it's big time and now it's competition. The
judges are looking at you, you know, they're like all
the different moves and so forth. But what'll kind of
go what's the mentality that goes in from a culture perspective,
what's the mentality that goes into prepara getting that team
prepared for that?
Speaker 24 (44:50):
So basically I tell them, like, you got to have
that mindset right. We have to be ready, right, we
have to prepare ourselves day and night. We have to
practice Saturday some weekend. Yes, sometimes practices might.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Go over, go over a little bit, go over three.
Speaker 24 (45:04):
Hours, but we still have to keep that momental of
like let's do it, let's bring it. And again it
starts with me. You know, I just stay on top
of my team. I stay prepared. I'm pushing them. I
will push them, you know, and we have fun doing
it right. I don't want it to be all work right,
but you know, I guess. So we take that time
(45:26):
out to maybe you know, play around TikTok, but we
get right back to work right because we want to win.
Speaker 13 (45:33):
You know, we set a goal to win.
Speaker 24 (45:36):
And it's been a minute since Kenyon Springs has been
in competition.
Speaker 13 (45:39):
So I'm really excited to have my team out there
and start.
Speaker 10 (45:46):
And build a legacy.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
That's good stuff right there. Now, real quick, I don't
know how many we have, but go ahead, give us
name drop. I'm sure you're familiar with who we haven't studio,
but real quick, for the audience out there, name drop
who we have in studio, and we're gonna go ahead
and bring them in in a quick second.
Speaker 13 (45:59):
Of course, of course I love my team. I love
them very much. We have my Captain Carly, she's gonna
come in here.
Speaker 24 (46:07):
We have my Captain Valeria. We have my Captain Malaysia.
We have my Captain of song because we have charing songs.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
Okay, now real quick for our artists, don't know what
song is what song in.
Speaker 24 (46:19):
Terms of so it's more dance dance pom okay, and
so we have too so we have cheer, and we
also have a song Pong.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Excuse me, I didn't mean to interrupt.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
Worries, No worries.
Speaker 13 (46:30):
And then we have our song Captain Jewels.
Speaker 24 (46:33):
We have our song Captain Ashley, and then we have
I think I covered everybody, Okay, we got.
Speaker 13 (46:41):
And then we have Phoenix she is actually new on
our team.
Speaker 24 (46:46):
She's a freshman. So I wanted you guys to get
a perspective from one of a new team member on
our team.
Speaker 1 (46:53):
We're looking we're looking forward to that. Well, can't wait.
Let's go ahead and bring these young ladies in again. Coach,
thank you so much in best of love this season
and you're doing it for now. Job. I hope to
work with you in their future. Okay, it's a pleasure there,
it is right there. It's Fox Sports Radio again. We
are making history right here because we have our first
first cheer team here in studio. So go ahead, come
on here, young lady, put out microphone up and tell
(47:13):
everybody introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Make sure
everybody can hear you use your cheer voice. Go ahead,
interergy your self place.
Speaker 21 (47:19):
Good morning.
Speaker 13 (47:20):
My name is Phoenix Shelty.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
Oh good, good stuff. Now, tell everybody what is like
to How is your experience been being a cheerleader for
the Canyon Springs High School.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
My experience has been good. It's been teaching me responsibility
and hard work as well as integrity, and it just
gives me good leadership skills.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
Okay, good stuff, right, there. Now is do you have
a favorite cheer? Because your coach said her favorite cheer
is victory, but do you have one?
Speaker 13 (47:48):
My favorite cheer is red hot?
Speaker 1 (47:51):
Right? Okay, there it is right there. Well, young lady,
keep up the good work. We're looking forward to seeing
you this season. Okay, okay, thank you. There it is
right there. Fox Sports Radio. We have Canyon Springs High
School and again we are making history because the first
time ever we have a cheer team here in studio.
So go ahead, come on in, young lady. Put that
microphone up. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Please, sorry,
(48:12):
it's okay, Hi.
Speaker 22 (48:13):
My name is Juliana delar Rosa.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Okay, fantastic. Now what grade you in, young lady?
Speaker 22 (48:17):
I'm a senior.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
You're a senior this year. Okay, fantastic. Now, so I
means you've been doing this for a while, You're you're
a veteran put out. I want to ma, sure everybody
can hear you? Real good? Dare we go? All right there?
Now we're rolling here we go. Now, since you've been
there for a while, you're obviously expected to be one
of the leaders. How do you approach that? Because I
know it's hard. Sometimes you know your coach is on you,
but then you still have to be a leader, leader,
a leader amongst your team, have that responsibility.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 25 (48:39):
So I just recently stepped into the captain position. I
had a co captain roll last year. A captain position
and it's definitely different from being just a member on
the team. I think the best way to approach it
that I've learned is that you're essentially you're there to
lead and to guide not only your teammates but your friends.
Speaker 22 (48:57):
But you're not above them.
Speaker 25 (48:58):
Essentially, like you're there more guidance, rather than like you're
not in a coach position.
Speaker 22 (49:02):
You're more hey, I'm here to help you. I'm here
to guide you.
Speaker 25 (49:05):
And at the end of the day, I want us
to all look good, all all of us to strive together.
Speaker 22 (49:10):
And I have dance experience. I've been dancing since I
was three years old, so I've kind of.
Speaker 25 (49:16):
Yes, so then I've it honestly makes me happy as
a captain because I've you know, helped some of the
girls with a lot more of their dancing skills, because
some come from more dance backgrounds than others do. On
song and a lot of the girls will be like,
look what I did with liquid, I'm coming and it
makes me happy knowing that they're genuinely feeling good and
they're improving, and that I'm improving.
Speaker 22 (49:36):
Our team as a whole.
Speaker 25 (49:38):
So I think just approaching it with essentially knowing that
telling them like, hey, guys, I know we're friends, but
we have to get down and work, but.
Speaker 22 (49:46):
Essentially not being like this this is I'm honest, but.
Speaker 25 (49:48):
You know, still keeping that like friendship and yeah, essentially
like it's we want business to get done. What we
also want to have fun because this is a sport.
At the end of the day, in sports should be fun.
Speaker 1 (49:58):
Indeed, now now I got to very important question for you, right,
I almost play the drum role for you. I gotta
here goes the question, who's in charge of the Tiktoks
on the team?
Speaker 22 (50:06):
On the Tiktoks. I believe it's our coach Alexis.
Speaker 25 (50:10):
Okay, I know our coach Tasha has mentioned that she's
not at social media.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Okay, but Alexa's that's the TikTok person right there. Okay, Okay, well,
big shout to a coach Alexis. But again, young lady,
thank you so much for being in the studio of
today with us today. Excuse me, but and keep up
the good work. Okay, thank you. There, it is Fox
Sports Radio. We have Canyon Springs Cheer right here live
and studio. Come on in, young lady, pull up the microphone.
Please do us the courtesy of introducing yourself to our
live radio audience.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
Hi, guys, is Carly.
Speaker 20 (50:40):
I'm a senior on the team and I'm also varsity
captain this year.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Okay, fantastic. Now as a captain, well, let me ask
you this what happens and you got to let the
world know. This is when they come to a Canaan
spring football game. What happens when the boys score a touchdown?
Help me out?
Speaker 20 (50:58):
Okay, So this was my favorite because I really like this.
That so for my group, obviously, we cheered super fun
like raw raw. We just got a touchdown and we
run to whichever side they scored on, and then we
throw our cool stunts okay, and then we wait for
them to kick and we make a go post. And
then after they kick, we come down and we run
and then we show spirit and we do our school's
fights on.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
Look, Captain Roll understood. We got it. So okay, so
you're showing spirit right all the time. Okay, okay, now
how is it? I was asking your coach this. Let's
say Frans and you're coming in there. You know you're
about to it's Friday night, you know, about to be
seven o'clock football games coming around. Maybe you're not feeling
the best, but how do you put that smile on
and get ready for cheer mode?
Speaker 20 (51:38):
It's honestly, it's once the audience starts coming in, Like,
once the crowd starts rolling in, it's like the adrenaline
is pumping, and as soon as that first cheer is called,
it's like nothing else matters, because like you've got to
be in the zone, Like the audience is pumped up,
the boys are pumped up, so you just have to
like just be there. And it's honestly so fun. Like
people who won't cheer, like won't ever get it. But
(52:00):
like as soon as the audience comes in and those
cheers are called, like you're in front of everybody, it's
like nothing else.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Yeah, good stuff? Now, how is it?
Speaker 4 (52:08):
Real?
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Quick? You know, you being one of captains? How is it?
Let's say the boys scored fifty points, right, and that's
a lot of running and jumping, right, so how do
you handle that?
Speaker 20 (52:15):
So we had a game like that recently. It was
honestly one of our best games, like I feel like
that our school has played since I've been there. Okay,
and it got really hard because we were running like
so much. We were running so much, and we just
started like, instead of running, stunting in front of our crowd. Yes,
and then it became easier on us and we made
that decision as captains, like what are we going to do?
Speaker 5 (52:36):
And then.
Speaker 20 (52:38):
Yes, yeah, And then once that happened, we were just like, Okay,
we got this, we can do it, and we just
pushed through all of our stets. It didn't matter really
like how much they scored, just as long as we
were there to support our boys as what mattered.
Speaker 1 (52:50):
Fantastic, Well, best of luck this season, young lady. Keep
up phenomenal work and again, congratulations on the season. Okay,
of course there is Fox Sports Radio. We are right
here live with the young ladies from can You Springs
High School making history this morning because it's the first
time we've ever had a cheer squad here. So again,
thank you so much coach for bringing everybody in now
here we go. All right, young lady, put that microphone up.
Introduce yourself to our live radio audience.
Speaker 13 (53:11):
Please, Hi, my name is Ashley Guzman.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
Okay, fantastic. Now ask what grade you in.
Speaker 26 (53:16):
I'm a senior.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
Okay, so you're one of the scenes as well. Okay,
now you have to be one of it again. Just
you being a senior, you're automatically thrown in that leadership
bro regardless. But how is it being a leader over
on Cana Springs cheer squad.
Speaker 26 (53:28):
I personally think that it's been a great experience being
able to connect with the girls and build that connection,
especially when you have like the seniority and you already
know so much stuff, like you went through high school,
you went through personal experiences, and you've also went through
like your cheer your cheer years.
Speaker 6 (53:43):
I've been cheering since my freshman year.
Speaker 26 (53:45):
So it's been really it's been a really great experience
to be able to connect with the girls and just
tell them advice, like be there when they need help.
It's nice that you have that and you have that team.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
To be able to work exactly.
Speaker 26 (53:58):
Yeah, it's been really great. I love all the girls,
especially being able to connect with the freshmen and sophomores,
the underclassmen. It's been a great opportunity and I love
to connect with them, hear their stories, what they want
to have this year, be able to start new traditions
when we leave, and then their seniors.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
It's been great, fantastic. That's good stuff right there. Now
do you have do you guys have? Like so, are
you guys able to choose what songs you guys want
to cheer two dance to? How does that work? Who's
in charge of that?
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 26 (54:25):
So usually we would have a DJ, but we have sorry,
we have had some different things this year, so now
we only have like our sound system that our coach
Alexis has control over. So usually we ask her, hey,
we want to do this dance and she'll play it,
and then when it comes down to cheers, we'll talk
amongst the captains and we'll figure out what chere we
want to do next, depending we're on offense defense, if
(54:47):
we just want to do a general cheer, a cheer
to hype up the crowd, it s heure, just like
that's crowd engaging where we have where we're cheering with
the crowd. Yes, and we're like cheering on the boys
and we have someone we're cheering directly to the other team, like, hey,
we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (54:58):
Beat you guys. Like that's all the fun way.
Speaker 4 (55:01):
I like that.
Speaker 5 (55:01):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (55:02):
Now, now do you real quick before the last question here?
Do you have a favorite cheer? That's what everybody wants
to know.
Speaker 26 (55:07):
My favorite cheer is probably smoke. Okay, it's a cheer
that we say against the other team. It's like, you
don't want to smoke.
Speaker 10 (55:13):
With us, you don't want to mess with us.
Speaker 26 (55:15):
And I think it's really fun, especially when you're like
the other cheer team kind of hears you. You like
start having cheer battles across like the football team, like
they're on that side, we're on this side.
Speaker 2 (55:23):
Got it.
Speaker 13 (55:23):
But it's just like a little front of fun rivalry.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
Fantastic. Well, best of luck this season, young lady, and
keep up to good work. Okay, thank you so much.
But it is Fox Sports Radio. We're right here, live
in the great city of Riverside. We have Canyon Springs
here represented for cheer. Come on in, young lady. Let's
go ahead. Look at they're over there drawing sticks right now,
trying to figure out who's gonna go in here. Coach,
you can come on in too. It's all good, no problem.
So young lady, put that microphone up. Just make sure
we go ahead and let's introduce yourself to our live
(55:47):
radio audience. Please and make sure everybody can there you go.
Speaker 27 (55:49):
Everybody want to Hey, Hi, my name is Malaysia. I'm
a sophomore and i'm JV co Captain.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
Okay, that's good stuff, right there, Malaysia pleasure, good stuff.
All right, thank you so much for coming to the studient.
Now real quick, now, how does it work because you
guys have are you guys able to pick the shoes
you guys can wear? Because I know you guys have
like a straight if there's a you gotta wear this color,
everything is uniform. How does it work for you? You
got to pick the shoes? What's going on? Help me out?
Speaker 27 (56:13):
I wouldn't say that we could like pick a shoe, so.
Speaker 10 (56:17):
You just can't wear like it's on the website.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
So in terms of like what what kind of shoes
you can wear? Okay, help me out. Turn the town.
Speaker 27 (56:23):
We order from varsity websites.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
Okay, okay, okay, okay, you put it out there.
Speaker 27 (56:28):
I mean you could get your own shoes on Amazon
or what?
Speaker 4 (56:32):
Right?
Speaker 21 (56:32):
No, no, for you?
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Do you do you have your own shoes? Okay? Now
what shoes? What shoes? Because I'm sure you got to
have the right shoes to go here and.
Speaker 27 (56:40):
Cheer and sore the most like basic white shoes.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
Ever, it's all good. That's fine, that's good stuff right there.
Speaker 18 (56:48):
Now.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
Tell everybody again, a lot of people don't know. We're
just talking to your coach about this. What is it
all about in terms of that practice? Again, I know
your coach said sometimes those those practices are three hours
long before for you as you know again one of
the cheerleaders, how was it for you going through those practices? Understand,
you got have to be there for three hours.
Speaker 27 (57:05):
So I have two roles. I'm on varsity, so I
have to practice with varsity for halftime dances many new
cheers and other type of you know dances, and then
for a JV I also do have to teach them
dances as well. It was more harder when we first
started practicing the summer because I had to catch all
of them up on cheers, yeah, dances. Then I got
(57:27):
to record the dances and I got to record the cheers,
and I keep reminding them practice when you get home,
practice when.
Speaker 1 (57:32):
To get home. But you know, yeah, they don't go home.
They're gonna do what they do. They're gonna do what
they don't lay down. Yeah, I know how they are understood. Understood. Now,
has there been a favorite game for you this season
where you guys have been I know one of your
your one of your cheerleader, one of your your teammates.
I would say, uh, she mentioned that you guys had
had a game with it was like forty points. But
(57:54):
for you guys, there have been like a favorite game
where you guys have been cheering and then you've had
the most fun.
Speaker 27 (57:57):
I would say our recent game in the fall, well,
it's probably my favorite game. It was an away game,
so obviously the student section is not as big. Yes,
there's not gonna be a lot of people there, but
everyone that was there, like the cheerleaders, like it was
such a great energy there. I loved the other cheerleaders.
I mean they kind of got late, but we have
like a little flip contest and then their student section
(58:18):
was really big.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
Okay, and it's gonna.
Speaker 27 (58:20):
Sound like a little like over confident but I love
showing myself off to like new people, clown. I want
to show them like what I could do, how I
could jump, how I could flip and cheer.
Speaker 1 (58:31):
It's really fun, fantastic. Well, young lady, best of luck
this season and congratulates and all everything so far. Okay,
there it is Fox Sports Radio. We have Kenyon Springs
cheered right here live and studio again, first time ever
we have cheer right Come on there, young lady, put
that microphone up. She had the big smile and stuff already,
so she's a little I could see she's a little
bit nervous, but I'm trying to tell you it's painless.
(58:52):
Trust me when I tell you put that microphone up,
young lady. Introduce yourself to our live radio audience. Please.
Speaker 10 (58:56):
Hi, my name is and I'm the JB.
Speaker 22 (59:00):
And my English is not good.
Speaker 1 (59:02):
It's okay, it's okay. You want to say that in Spanish?
Speaker 22 (59:05):
No, it's okay.
Speaker 1 (59:06):
Okay. Well, real quick, real quick, we gotta get read
to get out of here real quick. Tell everybody how
you enjoyed cheering for Kenney Springs High School.
Speaker 6 (59:15):
I don't know, Like, I.
Speaker 22 (59:16):
Really love cheer and I've been doing this for around
twelve years.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
Okay, so this is one.
Speaker 13 (59:22):
Thing that I really enjoy to do.
Speaker 21 (59:24):
I love dance, and I love be with more cheerleaders
and in practice together and all this stuff.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
Fantastic. Well, that's good stuff right there, young lady. Will
let me tell you something. We are happy to have
you in the studio. You keep up the good work.
And again, you guys are doing amazing. Coach, thank you
so much for being in the studio today. Thank you
film much for your patience. Again, it's Fox Sports Radio.
We got to get out of here. Bat ch'allut to
my guy coach be here doing this thing out there
and Coach Tella Valley. Today again is Ice Sports Net.
We will see you all next week.
