going to go through all of oursports tonight as most as I can.
But tonight we're going to talk Hawksinitially, and actually let's make sure I
bring in my co host, myco host tonight. One of the reasons
(05:53):
again, it's been really difficult toget regular shows. Both of us have
crazy work schedules over the last fewmonths. I also have had a lot
of deaths in the family, sowe've been dealing with a lot of family
things on my end and stuff likethat. So I'm glad that we,
you know, are getting to thepoint of hopefully doing regular shows again.
(06:13):
But I want to go ahead andintroduced my co host. He's been on
the show for four years now.He is a writer as well sports writer
in town in the city of Atlanta, especially when it comes to the Bulldogs.
He's pretty much an expert when itcomes to that. We'll go ahead
and bring in my co host forthe night, mister Jordan Jackson. George,
Sir, what's going on, sir? Glad to be on Around the
(06:36):

schedule is crazy and such speak ofthe crazy work schedules. I have to
be an Alpharetta by six threety sixthirty in the morning, so fortunately I
probably won't be to hang the wholetwo hours with you guys, but I'm
looking forward to chopping it up inthe meantime. Uh. Show up to

some personal friends of mine who I'vemet through that business, mister Tom Glavin
(07:20):
and the entire Glavin family include ChrisMason and Keenan And if you say Jordan,
are you name dropping. The answeris yes, I am. I'm
absolutely name dropping. Cry Pard waslistening to us live and all of those
who will also listen to us afterthe fact on podcast form. You are
(07:43):
certainly appreciated, and shout out toall those great guests that we've had on
around the atl over the years.I don't want to start running out of
the names in fear, but Imay forget someone, but we certainly appreciate
you guys too. Like I said, looking forward to talking to love Sportsman's
parting off for these Eleanta Hawks. That being said, sir, let's get
(08:03):
to it well. Actually, andagain this is just me being rusty.
There was a few things I wantedto kind of do as well. So
right now, this is the besttime of the year for Atlanta, the
Atlanta Falcons. They're playing their firstor their last preseason game this week before
they play the first game of theseason soon. Who's gonna play We don't
(08:26):
know, we'll find out soon.So we'll talk about that a little bit
depth. Chart last week's game. We'll talk about that the Atlanta Braves are
having their best season ever, butcan the offense carry the team through the
playoffs? Okay, the Atlanta Hawks. Obviously, we're about to talk about
them. They had an off seasonthat consisted of trading long time Hawk John
Collins, resigning DJ Murray, draftingsome talented players. But will that be
(08:50):
it? Question mark. Also,we're gonna talk about why the city of
Atlanta hates train Young. We're gonnatalk about that tonight. The Atlanta Dream
are having a big season compared tothe few years. Will they make a
surprise splash in the playoffs? AtlantaUnited shows glimpses of being competitive every now
and again, but will they actuallyhave a chance to reach the MLS Cup
finals? UJ Obviously, they're defendingtheir two time national championship status, so
(09:16):
can they do it again? Imentioned earlier we're gonna talk a little bit
high school football. We'll see ifI can get it in tonight. But
we'll see so. But oh,by the way, tonight will be the
first mention of the professional volleyball teamcalled the Atlanta Vibe. I'm gonna talk
about them later on tonight as well. Six four six six five two four
four seven nine is the number. It looks like everything is working so for
(09:37):
the first time in a while, let's see we can get this Hawks segment
going, all right, that soundspretty good. So the Atlanta Hawks,
(10:16):
as I mentioned, had a fortyone forty one season. We lost four
games to two against the Boston Celtics. I said that we needed to make
a splash this summer via free agency. We did, We sign DJ,
we did trade John, but wedidn't get anything to return. And and
you know, at the end ofthe day, if this is it,
(10:39):
are we really a better team fromlast year? And despite knowing that we
have a true coaching staff this yearfor the first time in five years.
Really, y'all know how I feelabout that. I feel, well,
you know, we'll avoid the playin. But the other teams in the
East also got a little bit betteragain, so I still think something could
be stirring I don't know, stirredthe pot a little bit. We'll talk
(11:01):
about that a little bit. Butcan we advance, you know, against
the teams in the East. We'lltalk about that. But right now I'm
introducing this new segment called fact orFiction. Now, there's some specific reasons
I'm going to be doing this, okay, and one of them is actually
mister Ray Young actually just responded tome on Twitter not too long ago,
(11:22):
because I let them know that Iwas going to be doing a segment right
off, right at the beginning ofthe show directly in regards to Trey Young,
and I wanted him to be ableto hear it. But right now
he's in Oklahoma and whatnot. That'scool, but I'll send it to him
after the fact. But for fiveyears now, a big contingent of the
(11:43):
population of Atlanta who say that theirHawks fans have hated Trey Young. Hate
criticism and hate are two different things. I've said that for decades, but
for some reason, it continues tohappen. Okay, So let me say
a few things here. When we'retalking about publicly hating Trey Yo, we're
(12:05):
talking about in public online, Likeyou really have to read some of these
posts and the things that people sayin their videos and stuff like that to
be like, why do you hateTrey Why do you hate his wife?
Why do you hate his kids? Why do you hate his parents? And
then you're willing to say it everysingle day. I don't get that,
Okay, So this is for thosewho hate Trey Young, and and the
(12:28):
reason be reminded. And again,Jordan, I told you this was going
to take a little bit to getstarted. The reason the Hawks are even
a team that people talk about isbecause Trey Young is here. People actually
do come to State Farm Arena towatch Tray Young play. They weren't coming
to the arena to see Dennish Rollerplay. That's the dog on sho okay,
(12:50):
and a player that in his thirdyear took a team to two games
away from being in the NBA Finals, the modern era NBA Finals, not
Lewis Howts Fins, Okay, thesame player that you hate kept the team
from losing sixty games a year inthe beginning of his career here knowing what
our team makeup was back then, right, The player that puts his team
(13:16):
on the back his back countless timesand NBA history is there to prove that,
especially in the playoffs, which we'llget into that a little bit too,
if I got time. But you'drather have young Bull Colin Sexton on
this team instead swearing he's better still, So I want you to keep talking.
I want you to keep hating him, okay, I want you to
(13:37):
make it clear to everybody how muchyou hate Trey Young, so that way,
when he wins his first NBA championshipin Atlanta, and he wins his
second championship in Atlanta, would it, Tray say, let me see if
I don't think I have it upyet, but just make sure you keep
that same energy in that case.Okay, but we're gonna talk about this
hate hatred of Trey Young again. There's a differ between hatred and criticism.
(14:03):
Everybody can have criticism, but whenyou get to the point where nothing is
ever good for you despite all thethings, some of the things I just
mentioned, that's strange to me.Now, before I get started at Jordan,
I don't know if you have anythoughts on that. I know you're
on the air, You've got alittle bit limited time. Do you have
any thoughts before I get into thefact or fiction part of this segment?
(14:28):
Well, sir, I guess initialthoughts are you know, I do not
believe the majority of Hawks fans hateTrade Young by any means. I think
you know, trades popularity is reflectedin the standings with the Hawks selling out
thirty eight to forty one home games, and when you when you add in
(14:50):
the standing room only tickets that wesell, we actually sold one hundred and
four percent of capacity for the season, which is more than there are more
tickets sold the seats for the season, and that percentage was second in the
NBA if I'm not the second. So I don't think the MAJORGA people hate
Trade, ya, but I thinkthe hater is a very vocal group on
(15:13):
social media and so it makes themstand out. You know, we can
we can get deeper into the readingson why that hate is, you know,
you know, rather than calling outColin Sexton. A big factor is
that guy that plays in Dalla, the elephant in the room and sometimes literally
with his offseason conditioning. Is thatguy that plays in Dallas look at Duncheg
(15:35):
And there's a lot of factors togo into that. But with that being
said, you know, we're hereto set the recordstrators always like we always
do. And you know, I'mlooking forward to big things uh this upcoming
season from both Trade and the AtlantaHawks as a whole, sir. So
that being said, let's see Viking. Now. This is this is where
(15:56):
it gets a little bit difficult becauseI don't know if I can recreate some
of these But let's see if Isee if this works real quick. Let's
see, I hate doing this inthe real time, but all right,
it work. So one of thethings I wanted to mention because NBA history
(16:18):
does matter. I don't care whatanybody says when you when your name is
there historically with other historical figures inthe NBA, and you still don't like
Trey Young because of that. That'sjust weird to me, because you don't
hate any of the other players thereare also in these these these statistical categorial
(16:44):
lists that count because they did playin the NBA. Okay, So one
of the things I want to mentionright off the bat is passing the ball
to other people. Okay, mostassists in their first five seasons or I'm
gonna read this list to you andjust let me know, you know,
with your thoughts star on some ofthese players, Oscar Robinson, Isaiah Thomas,
(17:11):
John Stockton, Kevin Johnson, TimHardaway, Deron Williams, Chris Paul's
HEP three, Magic Johnson, MugsyBowls and at number nine, Trey Young.
Those players ahead of him are thetop eight players who in their first
(17:33):
five seasons have the most assist inNBA history in their first five seasons.
George and you opinions on any ofthose players not just mentioned, well,
the best point guard is to playthe game? Are on that list?
For one thing, Magic Johnson,Isaiah Thomas, who I would you know
ranked second in terms of pure pointguards. I mean, if I'm gonna
(17:55):
put if I don'na put Steph Carryas a point guard, he'd be number
two. Then Isaiah Thomas will benumber three. Then John Stockton will be
my number four. The other thoughtabout that list is, you know,
when you add in over all accoladesin terms of scoring as well, it's
trade. It's really already on trackto be a better basketball player than most
(18:17):
of the players on that list. You know, I'm not gonna put him
ahead of Magic in Stockton and Isaiahjust yet, and you know then he's
got a ways to go for youcatch the CP three as well, you
know all time. But a lotof the other guys, you know,
Kevin Johnson, Bugsy Bowls, andmany other names you mentioned, trays already
a better basketball player than those guysever were Well, it's funny that you
(18:41):
should mention some of those names, because we're gonna throw in some other names
in the mix, just players ingeneral. Some of'em are point guards,
but some of'em are just longtime NBA players of notes. So
right now Tray is at three thousand, two hundred and eighty five, is
fist for his career at this moment. Okay, five years in all right,
(19:02):
now, let me do this realquick, cold on a second,
give me a second here, Sorryabout that, y'all trying to do a
lot right here. There we go. So he has three thousand, two
hundred and eighty five assists. Ifhe gets at least seven hundred and forty
one assists this year, which iswhat he had last year, this next
(19:25):
coming year, which is his sixthNBA season, he's gonna pass Derrick Rose,
Steve Franchise, Penny Hardaway, JalenRose, Pete Maravich, Earl the
Pearl, Elgin Baylor, Larry Drew, we know who he is, Derek
Fisher. Let's just say, ifKyrie decides to end his career today,
he would pass Kyrie Irving all timein assists, Scott Skiles the Joker.
(19:51):
Also if he was to retire andgo play with his horses or whatever.
Man who's your nobody? Not necessarilya point, but he did to pass
the ball a lot on those championshipteams, didn't he Rick Barry, possibly
Kenny Smith. Six year in theleague. He passes all those guys right
there, Just to give you anidea of some of the players who'll pass
(20:12):
in his seventh year. Okay,And again these are guys that have played
ten fifteen years in the NBA.Three players of note Grant Hill, KD
Vince Carter, also our very ownJeff t, Joe Dumars, Jay Crossover,
Spud Webb and Rayalen. What doyou think about some of those players?
(20:37):
Jordan, Yeah, I think it'sincredible a lot. I mean,
I think it's incredible that Trade hasalready passed most of the greats and thirty
point ten assisty games as well. And the other thing that you have to
factor in with this is Trade hadtwo seasons cut short due to COVID.
There were two seasons where there wereonly about seventy games played total, about
(21:02):
seventy two games played total, andTrade didn't even get to play all of
those in one season because the Hullswere un invited to the bubble and a
lot of the guys are still playingtoday on those you know that would be
on any type of list for assists, the points of whatever they were in
the bubble and and got a chancethe opportunity advantage of getting inflated stats in
(21:22):
the bubble, which trade didn't get. So you also have to factor that
in as well, sir. Correct. Now, if you ever get some
spare time, go and look atthat list of just the top players in
the league over time as far asjust assist in general, and just see
some of the players that are inthat list. Some of them are not
point guards. Again I will mentionthat, but there's some really interesting players
(21:45):
in that list. And also, just to throw this out there real quick,
in trades eight year in the league, he's going to be in the
top fifty all time and assists eightyear in just letting y'all know that.
Now, let's talk playoffs, becauseplayoffs playoffs? You know, actually know
what what did I do the sounder? Why can't I get coach to do
the sounder? Let's let's do thatreal quick. I haven't done that in
(22:07):
a long time. I forgot thatI had it, right, goodness,
gracious, what's that? Playoffs? We'll talk about playoffs? You're kidding me?
Playoffs? I just hope we canwin a game. I gotta try
to remember my sound effects. Jordan. So, Trey Young has three seasons
in the playoffs, three years, okay, and during this kind of mentioned
(22:30):
why one reason we didn't get invitedin the bubble that one time? Right,
So twenty seven games Trey has playedin the playoffs, just twenty seven
okay, So right now he sitsthat two hundred and forty three playoffs assists
at the moment, okay, justto let you know, yes, he
does have more assist than Luca. Also, Jaylen Brown over there in Boston,
(22:52):
in Boston Town with his three hundredgot more point than look at two,
by the way, exactly, Soother players of note that he's ahead
of at this moment, who's playeda long time in the playoffs, who's
had a lot of chances to playin the playoffs, the major Rosen White
Chocolate, Jason Williams, Leepy Floydjust the name of a couple of people.
(23:15):
But let's just say Trade gets tothe playoffs this year, and let's
just say the Hawks get to theEastern Conference Finals again like they did two
years ago, and let's just sayhe gets at least one hundred and fifty
assists. Guess who he's going topass at this point, Mark Chrice,
Derek Rose, Nick the Quick,Mookie Blaylock, Kyrie Irving again, depending
(23:38):
on what they do in the playoffsover there in Dallas Town, John wall
Is, so Joe, Lenny Wilkins, Tim Hardaway, Roger Strickland, Byron
Scott. And if he happens toget a little bit more than one hundred
and fifty assists, he will passGreek Freak and the Claw Kawhi Leonard in
(24:00):
his sixth season, in the NBAfourth playoff appearance. And also just to
let you know other players of notes, let's just say if they either didn't
make the playoffs or they retired forsome reason, he would also passed Damian
Lillard, Clay Thompson, Jamal Murray, and Chris Middleton as well. What
(24:22):
do you think about that? Jordan? Once again, and it's just incredible
the things this man has been ableto accomplish at such an early stage in
his career. I mentioned, youknow, the thirty point tend assist games.
I mean he's four or five timein that stell already. Only Oscar
Robinson, James Harden, Lebron Jamesand Russell Westbrook have more, you know,
(24:45):
one of only three active players toaverage twenty eight points nine assists fourth
season, one of the five playersonly to do it all time, and
the only active player is just oneof three players all time to do it
more than one time. The manis just incredible, you know, And
you know, I know people woulddie on him because he started in the
last season in the shooting slump.I'm telling you now, I think you're
(25:08):
gonna see one of Trey Young's bestseasons this upcoming year. I think you're
gonna see him average you know, eleven assists. I think he's gonna see
his points per game. They maynot be, you know, twenty eight
like they were, but I thinkyou'll see the efficiency return to what it
was in the twenty twenty one twentytwenty two season and where he shot career
(25:29):
high from three point range as well. So you mentioned a couple of things
that I was going to mention aswell, and I've mentioned it before a
billion times and old people should knowit by now, but I'm gonna break
it down just a little bit more. Okay, So total points and assist
the last five years, Trey Younghas led the league. He's led the
league the last two seasons in totalpoints and assists. Two seasons ago he
(25:56):
led the league in total points andassists. And on the other person to
do that, it's Oscar Robinson.Okay, thirty thirty point games in ten
assist games in NBA history, Treyis fourth, as Jordan just mentioned,
was sixty two. The three abovehim Westbrook eighty four, Ron, ninety
six, Hard and one hundred andone. Now Harden is about to go
play in China, so he's prettyI was go ahead and say, maybe
(26:19):
he's done with his his with hisone hundred and one, I said Phil,
I said Phil, just because Iput Oscar Robinson in there for some
reasons they don't let him. Buthe did it for a whole season,
so I gotta give Oscar his respect. He really is number one on that
list. But yeah, you're right, Hardness coming close to the end,
(26:41):
and so is Westbrook. So beforelong he'll be you know, he'll well,
he'll be passing Westbrook. You know, Ron, Ron might sneak a
couple to get to one hundred.Possibly, you know, I don't know
how long he's gonna play Westbrook again. He's played I think was the seventeen
seasons now, so he can't betoo much longer before he hangs it up,
tray with sixty two, he's goingto surpass all those guys. Okay,
(27:06):
and Trey has five seasons under hisbelt. That's what makes that repressed
as more than anything else. Now, eleven more, eleven more of those
games than the boy wondering Dallas, who also had the benefit of plan in
the bubble. And that's you know, seven more than the great Magic Johnson,
(27:26):
you know, the greatest points outof all time. And also in
the offense that's really not conducive tohis towncing ability either. I'll throw that
in there too, people standing around, but anyway, I'll get into that
later, so make sure I missedmy spot here. So Trey is tied
okay, thirty and ten games inthe playoffs NBA history we're talking about here,
(27:48):
Trey is tied for eight with seven. He's only been in the playoffs
three times, he only has twentysomething games. He has seven already.
He's currently tied with Magic Johnson andKevin Johnson and above him James Harden,
Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Curry, the Joker, CP three, Westbrook,
(28:10):
Jerry West, Michael Jordan, LebronJames. That's it, NBA history.
We're talking about folks. Thirty andfifteen games, thirty points, fifteen
assist games in NBA history, Tradeis oh, thirty and fifteen games.
(28:30):
Okay, this is what the regularseason I was about to say. So
Trade is ninth in the league withsix thirty points fifteen assist games in a
non motion offense. Five years intothe league he already has six. Okay,
that's pretty dog gone impressive right there. Now. In the playoffs thirty
(28:52):
and fifteen games that haven't happened alot, only thirteen players have done it
at all, Magic Johnson and JerryAs they've done it three apiece. The
other players who have won include theJoker Harden CP three, Dwayne Wade,
Alan Roverson, John Stockton, WaltFrazier, Oscar Robinson, and John Bagley
(29:14):
did it once. Throw him inthere, But that's the list. Transplayed
twenty seven games in his playoff career. But somehow people still don't like Trey
Young, don't like that he's here. And here's the reason why. Jordan's
turnovers. They keep talking about histurnovers. Okay, so I have something
(29:41):
to talk about on the turnover andnow somebody who does a lot of turnovers
just got like a billion billion dollarsright somewhere in there, correct, Jaylen
Brown. So I have a littlesomething to talk about on that, and
(30:02):
let's see if this pulls up forme. Hopefully it will work, because
I want to really bring this outto y'all. It's very interesting. I
didn't realize it before, but Isaid, let me go ahead and go
check. So I actually pulled uphis history in regards to turnovers over his
(30:22):
playoff career. Now, I'm notgoing to really get into his early career
because he's twenty twenty one years old, but he didn't really turn it all
over a lot in his playoff careerthere. And we're going by series,
like in twenty seventeen against Chicago,I think he when we had three turnovers
that series Washington, he only hadthree turnovers in that series against Cleveland,
(30:44):
they lived, they lost that seriesfour games to one. He had seven
turnovers. The next year, he'stwenty one years old, he only had
eight turnovers in the series six andnine turnovers, but that last series they
lost the series of Cleveland again, but you know, he moved in Cleveland.
He had nine turnovers in that series. But when you hit about twenty
three years of age, his turnoversdid kind of go start going up a
(31:08):
little bit. In two thousand andtwenty against Philadelphia at ten Toronto. The
next series, they won the seriesfour games to three, but he had
seventeen turnovers. Next series they lostto Miami. He had fourteen. That
next year, twenty twenty two season, which is the past season right Brooklyn.
(31:33):
As far as the playoffs go,Brooklyn, they swept as Brooklyn Nets.
He had ten turnovers in that series. The Milwaukee Bucks, he had
twenty one turnovers in that series. They won that series four games to three.
He had twenty three turnovers. Thenext series against Miami, they won
that one four games to three. He had twenty turnovers against Golden State in
(31:56):
the finals. They lost that fourgames to two. This past season against
the Atlanta Hawks, he had twentyone turnovers. Boston beat us four games
to two. The next series againstphil he had twenty turnovers. They won
that series four games to three.Against in Miami, he had twenty five
turnovers. They lost that series threegames to four. Obviously, so one
(32:23):
to talk about turnovers. This formjust a player who just got his bag.
Why don't people hate him for allthese turnovers? He can't dribble but
one hand, right, that's whatthey keep saying. And we see it.
We see that playing with us.Right. So, who is the
leader in turnovers in NBA history?Do you know who that is? Jordan,
(32:45):
I do Lebron James have the mostturnovers in the history of the NBA.
Number two is Carl Malone. Numberthree is Russell Westbrook. Number four
is John Stockton. Number five isKobe Bean Bryant. Number six, Jason
Kidd, number seven, Moses Malone, number eight, James Harden, number
(33:05):
nine, Isaiah Zeke Thomas, numberten, Hakima La Juan, Patrick Ewing,
Paul Pierce, Magic Johnson, ReggieDiace, Formerhawk, Steve Nash,
Tim Duncan, Charles Barkley, DwayneWade, Shaquille O'Neill, Dwight Howard.
Now that's pretty much all of thegreatest players to play the game in the
(33:27):
modern era, with the one bigname that's missing from that list is Michael
Jeffrey Jordan, the greatest of allthe time. And so you know basically
what that says to me, isthe guys who make the plays, the
guys who have the ball in theirhands a lot, they're gonna turn the
basketball over. And some of thosenames on that list were far more scores
(33:50):
than they were passers. You knowwhat I mean. It's a guy who's
attempting the difficult passes is gonna putthemselves at even more risks to get quite
a few turnovers. What that beingsaid, do I think Trade needs to
cut his turnovers down? Some?Yes, I do, especially in the
last five minutes of the game,But as a whole, I don't.
I don't think you can make anargument against Trade with turnovers when the greatest
(34:14):
of all time in NBA history havea lot of turnovers. Now, the
other thing you have to factor in, and it goes to what I was
saying, he is the ball beingin the player's hands. Now, Michael
Jordan, interestingly enough, has thehighest usage rate in the history of the
NBA and is not on that list. And that's a thirty three point two
(34:37):
six usage rate. Not just forcomparison there all time, Trade Young's usage
rate would be if I'm not mistaken, because they don't have him playing enough
games to be listed, So Igotta look back here, but his usage
rate is it would be third alltime in NBA history. It's thirty two
(35:00):
point six. Okay, the thirtytwo point six used to rate would be
third all time in NBA history, the second all time. Excuse me because
Westbrook is at thirty one point eightseven and number two. So Tray would
have the second highest usage rate ofall time, not factor than the other
(35:22):
active players. I gotta go lookat boy, won't wonder his usage rate
is very high too, But youknow, his usage rate would be second
all time. So the fact thathe has those turnovers, he's also has
the ball in his hands as muchas almost skinny players has ever played the
game of basketball. Trey Young andI'm glad you've brought those things up because
(35:44):
I actually had those out twus.I'm glad we think on the same page.
Lebron has four thousand, nine hundredand sixty six turnovers for his career
so far. It's still going Westbrookfour thousand, four hundred and forty three,
John Stockton four thousand, two hundredand forty four. He leaves the
NBA with fifteen, eight hundred andsix assists and again, George just mentioned
(36:06):
it. When you're trying to passthe ball a lot that's gonna kind of
happen every now and again. Yes, Trade does have some bad bonehead turnovers,
but a lot of things turnovers arebased off of he's trying his best
to operate in a system that wasnot conducive to him trying to get the
ball to people because we have threepeople standing all the time. Right,
(36:28):
So, for instance, Tray Trayis at four point one turnover as a
game for his career. Okay, you know who else is at that,
Mark Russell West, Russell Magic isat three point nine for his career,
Magic dogs On, Johnson Isaiah Tom'sthree point eight, James Harden three point
seven, John Wall three point seven, Aden Iverson three point six. Nobody
(36:52):
hates none of those guys. Theydon't. So and the thing that gets
me is people want to try topreview Trays turnovers to the Hawks not being
successful. That's the thing that killsme, and I'm like, but wait
a minute. Tray is the primaryreason that the last three seasons the Hawks
(37:12):
have gotten to the playoffs and appearedin the playoffs at all. And again,
the primary reason the Hawks were nota sixty lost team the first two
seasons in the league. Without TreyYoung's production, the Hawks might be a
fifteen nineteen win team period okay overthe last five years if Trey wasn't here.
Okay. So, like again,it always comes back to, well,
what is your real reason of yourdislike, your hatred of who he
(37:37):
is, what he does in thecommunity, whatever it might be, but
definitely on the floor, because TreyYoung the primary reason we win games.
Did you see the Boston series lastyear and what he did? In fact,
let me go ahead and mention thatreal quick. I'm a skip a
little bit while I was gonna say, let me see if I can find
it real quick before you go forJordan. Well, actually, you go
(37:59):
ahead. What you had this,I can't find it right now. Well,
you know, I was just justto say, you know, yeah,
I mean when you, like yousaid, when you when you put
to have the ball in your handsa lot, you are going to turn
the basketball over. Yeah, youwant to cut down. You don't want
to be tied with Russell Westbrook forturnovers per game all time. But like
(38:22):
you said, it's not like tradeis the real turnovers of the reason why
we're losing these games. You alsomentioned the system with guys standing around,
which was also a very valid pointwhen it comes to turnovers. And you
also have to look at the factthe trade has been one of the most
trapped in double team players in theleague, with defenses trying to pressure him
(38:43):
and you know it geared up tostop him. And up until last year,
the Harvest did not even have asecondary playmaker at all, you know
what I mean, see making itvery hard, you know, on him
because there was no one to relieveany of that ball hell and the playmaking
pressure. Jannis had three point ninefour turnovers a game last year, Luca
(39:05):
three point five eight, Joker atthree point five six, Westbrook at three
point five three, Joel n bthe MVP three point four eight, and
jaw Morant three point three eight.Sounds like a caliber nimy start. Oh,
I'm gonna got in trouble there.Don't don't be anna get me anyway.
I gotta got Spenser myself now.So again, if you just hate
(39:28):
him because of his turnovers, Idon't think that's a valiant reason. It
just isn't. It isn't. Andand the other part of that is will
of course be the defensive end, which I'm don't talk about in in a
little bit. I'm gonna take I'mprobably gonna take a break in a second.
But Tray doesn't play Joel mb hedoesn't play Klay Thompson, he doesn't
(39:50):
play Jason Tatum. Who's stopping thoseguys? Okay, And I've said this
for five years. If Trey Young'sman was always dropping forty on, us
would have a valid argument in regardsto defense. But look how many other
players in the NBA. We're notlet's just say, the best defensive player
of all time, and no onehated Steve Nash went in back to back.
(40:12):
MVP's not playing no defense either.Trey at least gets in front of
his man, and this year isprobably his best defensive season by far,
if anybody actually watched the games, but I know they don't because they hate
him. Right, So again,I just don't understand the hatred. I
don't understand for a player that hasput Atlanta in the in the what's the
(40:32):
word relevancy category? Finally, that'swhat everybody has always wanted, you know,
Atlanta, This Atlanta, that whatpeople come to games. George just
mentioned it earlier. We let whatwas the numbers again in regards to attendance
to Jordan eight thirty eight or fortyone home games sold out one hundred and
four percent of attendance. As faras tickets available versus tickets sold, we
(41:00):
saw one hundred and four percent forthe season, with the second highest attendance
percentage in the NBA, sir,and we went forty one and forty one.
What's gonna happen when we hit fiftywins? Finally? You see what
I'm saying. So I just thinkit's very invalid for people to continue to
have a public hatred for Trey Youngmore so than anything, and his family
(41:22):
and his father and all these otherthings that go into your vocalism in regards
to oh, well, nothing isever good, nothing is ever positive,
that's messed up. Criticism is onething. But when you're again there,
when the Hawks have their parade onPeachtree Street, continue to be that,
(41:45):
continue to be that way, continueto be mad that the Hawks have a
championship and a second championship and athird championship. Continue to do it.
I want you to do it.That's why I did this whole segment.
I want you all to do that. Go ahead, Jordan. One of
the one of the main reasons whythere is some hate from fans around the
(42:05):
league, including some people here inAtlanta, is some people just don't think
for themselves, Chris. I mean, let's just be real here. Some
people formulate their backing all opinions basedon what their favorite media personality thinks.
And there has been a media vendettaagainst Trade since he was at Oklahoma.
Really, you know, when hewent to a little shooting slump, people
(42:27):
you know, had stuff to sayabout him, despite the fact that he
led the NCUBAA end points an assistsat Oklahoma. And so that's what some
of this is. It's what Iwould call sheep syndrome. It's called following
the media. The media after wedrafted Trade Young said that he was the
most likely player of all the draftpicks to be a bus Like I said,
(42:47):
once again, I don't understand whyyou would think that of a player
who led the league and points andassists, but they did, and they
were dead wrong. But instead ofmajority of him coming out in the middle
and hey I was wrong about thiskid, they tell this and out of
their return to try to validate theirbad take, and so some people when
they hear that, they pick upon it and they run and they run
(43:07):
with it, and it's ridiculous. One example of that was something that just
happened today. You have Bleacher Reportnew a ranking from from I guess they
said seiling players ceilings of players undertwenty five or under twenty four or whatever
it is. And I'm sorry,it's crazy because Trey Young, it's not.
(43:30):
It's not even on this particular list. You have the boy Wonder number
one, you have Aunt Matt Edwardsnumber two. It's this is Bleacher Report
now once again we'll call it FocusReport. Top ten guards under twenty five
with highest ceilings. Luca ant Man, Jemmerrant, Haliburton, metal Ball Garland,
(43:53):
Scoot Henderson, Kay Cunningham, JanenWilliams, Josh Giddy, no train
Young even in the top team dulous, Josh Ginny Okay, like, no
Train Young in the top ten ofhiring settings on guards under twenty five.
(44:15):
I mean, how how ridiculous isthat one has made the playoffs the last
two seasons, and the Sacramento didn'tmake the playoffs when he was there either.
For that matter, In regards toHalliburton some one other thing. Chris,
I just gotta speak on real quickahead USA basketball and the people who
run that, the people who makethe selections are to be ashamed of their
(44:38):
damn selves. Excuse my language,Okay, but I am pissed off about
Tray Young openly campaigning to beyond TeamUSA and him not making the team.
You got the best times in theleague, a guy who can get the
basketball to all these other guys andmake things cohesive, and you leave him
off the team. Now, youknow, here, I'm reading stuff about
Austin Reeves being there trying to recruitpeople to the Lakers, and Tray Young's
(45:02):
not there, you know, tobe able to try to do the same
thing for the Hawks. And thefact that I'm even mentioned in Austin Reeves
being there and tray You'll not beingthere's a farce. It is ridiculous.
Okay. I don't care that. You know, Nicky has a strong sponsorship.
When us say basketball, it shouldn'tbe about what kind of shoes you
got on. It should be aboutyour game. Okay, You've got a
(45:22):
guy that's been all NBA. It'sa two time All Star starter and you've
got freaking Jalen Brunson down over him, started the point, gone, can't
be serious. And for them tohave a chance to rob us, okay,
of a chance of the chance tosee Tray Young and ant Man,
which would be one of the mostexciting you know, you can call it
(45:44):
ant Man small for the guard onthe team that it'd be one of the
most exciting perimeter combos you could possiblysee. Okay, the alley oops would
have been crazy, and they hadrobbed us of that. Chris and I
am pissed off about it, sir. And when and when would Trey even
be I mean, when would bethe next Olympics, Summer Olympics two years
(46:07):
from now. See, it's justas this is the World Championships. It's
just mess. It's just it's justa bad just It's almost as if they
did on purpose, just so thathe can't recruit nobody. Maybe that's the
reason, you know, that's whyI'm starting to think, you know,
just so that way he would nothave an opportunity to really kind of you
know, getting folks here and belike, hey, you need to come
over to the atl you know,I'm you know, because people want to
(46:30):
everybody else knows except for people youknow. It's this excuse me, it
doesn't make any sense. It's reallyit's really asinine where it comes down to
it. So that's another point,Jordian, I don't know if you are
able to stay any longer. I'mabout to try to take a little bit
of a break. I'm glad you'reJory. They're getting on this first segment
though, to talk about Trey Young, I do have the elephant in the
(46:52):
room subject that I'm going to talkabout a little bit later in the show,
the former number four draft pick ofthe Atlanta Hawks. There's some things
that have been said. I'm gonnaI'm gonna go over those things. I've
mentioned it before, but I'm gonnado it a little bit more detail.
But I want to go over someof the other sports segments as I mentioned
(47:12):
tonight. But if you if youthink you can hang on, you can
hang on while I take this littlebit of a break. But if not,
I'm glad you're able to get ontonight and hopefully we'll be with you
to the top. I'm gonna tryto hang with you to the top of
the hour at least, Chris togive it a few more minutes, and
yeah, like I said, that'sjust something I had to get off my
chest for. I'm very passionate aboutthat subject. It's the crime and a
(47:36):
shame. And there's other reasons asfar as the hate goals, especially regarding
the boy wanted the Luca Dante's thingsthat folks won't say, you know,
but I have no problem saying itbecause you know how we do on this
show. But with that being said, Chris, I let you go ahead
and take us a break, andI look forward to coming back and talking
a little bit more sports here onAround the at six four two six five
(47:58):
six four six six five two fourfour seven hours a number if you want
to call in, I would usuallydo some kind of musical break, but
I think I'm gonna just uh playa little huge Hugers clip just remind people
how important uh passing the ball is. You are listening to Around the Ato
with Chris and Jordan. We'll beright back with more Atlanta sports talk right
(48:44):
light. M m m m m. Where you going in the game,
(49:49):
ship we meet the productor sit down, step my teacher. You're going to
(50:47):
pass the ball? Well, thatthat was strange. I didn't never happened
before. You got to pass theball. You can't be one on one
forever. Eventually other people have totouch the ball. Even I've always talked
about this and playing basketball myself, even if I'm not gonna do anything with
(51:12):
the ball. Initially, get methe ball, so I'm involved in the
offense. Okay, But if Ihave the ball, guess what I can
do. I can post up.I can see who's cutting right, I
can see who's moving to the sideon the three point side. I'm gonna
get the person the best shots.Somebody's cutting, I can give you the
ball. You got a lay up, I got your guy blocked off.
Somebody is cutting over to the threepoint line. I'm fishing it over there.
(51:36):
You're moving the ball. If you'rejust standing, you can't do nothing.
And if you're just shooting, yeah, you might hit some shots.
I guess what, One person hittingseventy point ain't gonna win you. No
game has never happened before. Weknow that because we got beat by Houston
last year. Six four six fivesix five two four four seven nine is
the number. We're gonna take ashort braids segment. We gonna talk a
(51:57):
little bit of braves baseball right now. We haven't done that in a while,
so let's go ahead and get thatstarted right now. All right,
(52:30):
So the Atlanta Brads are having oneof their best seasons ever right now.
The starting pitching has been but thebulletpens looks like it's been fixed. It's
one of the best bullpens in baseballright now. They're they're stopping people now.
And the offense obviously has carried theteam really the entire year. But
can that hold up in the playoffsnow? Right now, the team DRAA
(52:51):
is three point eight four. Didyou know the team DRAA in twenty twenty
one for the World Series team wasthree point eight eight, so never know.
Starters for the teams so far withat least three starts or more,
kolbe Oler six point five seven,ERA Yanni nine point two three, Dylan
(53:12):
Dodds seven point four, oh,Bryce Elder three point three nine, has
ten wins. Max Free hasn't playeda lot two point eight three with four
wins ERA. That is Charlie Mortonwho just had another great game to night
three point five four twelve wins, but Jared Schuster five ra A Day Smith
(53:32):
four point five seven, Soroka fivepoint five two back to Strider though three
point five seven fourteen wins, Winner'sfive point one seven, ERA call right
five point seven nine. So really, if it wasn't for the offense,
we'd probably be in big trouble thisyear. Just by that, there's a
(53:53):
chance right now with the offense,we could have seven players with twenty five
point runs eight with twenty. Wegot a chance for four players to have
one hundred RBIs. We got twopossible MVPs on the team with Ronnie and
Matt, and look what Nikki Lopezhas done filling in for Audi. So
definitely, this is the best Gravesteam we've had up and down. The
(54:14):
lineup isn't enough to win the worldserious to make a count, we gotta
find out six four six six fivetwo four four seven nine Jordan any thoughts
Graves wise tonight man. Definitely greatbaseball team and running away with the National
League East. I have been keepingmy eyes on the Dodgers as far as
(54:37):
the best overall record in the NationalLeague goals because last I've checked, I
haven't I haven't checked the last coupleof days, but they were on an
eleven game winning streak and just fourgames back of US for the best record
in the National League. So itlooks like it's set enough to be a
class against those guys again at somepoint in the postseason, and more likely,
(54:57):
you know, the team that winsthat class will have the best chance
of in the World Series. Iam a bit concerned about the starting pitching,
but not as much with mac freeback. I just saw where Kyle
Wright is going to rehab assignment,so he should be back soon. And
one thing I have been wondering whythey've been trotting, you know some of
these guys out there as opposed tobringing Mike Saroka back up and giving him
(55:22):
another shot. Well, somebody clarifiedthat for me on Twitter. I wish
I could remember the name so Icould give him the credit, but they
basically said that Sooka is called upbefore September. We basically he becomes a
free agent a year sooner than hewould otherwise. Yeah, normally, right,
Normally, I'm not fourteen doing that. I'd rather put the guy out
(55:45):
there and try to win ballgames. But with the league we have, and
in the fact that Soroka has basicallymissed most of three seasons with injury.
I do understand it in this situation, so I'm hoping to see him get
another shot, you know, maybeget about four starts sing in September and
just see where he's at in termsof candy help us in the postseason.
(56:05):
Uh. Charlie Morton struck out ofseason high. I think eleven tonight,
if I'm not mistaken, in ain a shutout win just to win the
series against the Mets. So that'sa positive sign. Bryce Elder pitch well
his last time out, which wasvery encouraging for me because I've been worried
about him. He had had aboutthree bad starts in the row after they
(56:28):
all Star break, so to seehim kind of turned around was a positive
thing. All in all, Ido think this team has enough to window
wear a series. The only negativeI guess I have because I was a
little disappointed that U Double A didnot go out and get that's another solid
starting pitcher had to trade deadline certainly. I mean it didn't have to be,
(56:50):
you know, an ace like olTani though that would have been nice,
but just you know, a thirdor fourth caliber starter, somebody who's
just dependable would have been in agreat addition. You already mentioned how well
Ronald Lacuna and Matt Olsen are playing. Michael Harris has also been on fire
here lately. After a slow startto the season, He's been outstanding and
(57:14):
I gotta give credit to him.And I will admit this, I thought
the guy was toast. I thoughtthe guy was done. Marcel Ozuna has
been as hot as fish grease.I'm talking about as hot as the biggest
son. I mean, just squirtinglyhot. And I've also heard great things
about him being a teammate to theguys, a couple of guys with the
(57:36):
swings. This is a positive influencein the clubhouse. So shout out to
Marcell Ozuna. Man, he wanta comeback? Man, what a bounce
back? Sir? Yeah, yougotta give it up to him. Goes
see, you know it was itwas the end of all ends right there,
right? Who do you think willbe the playoffs starting pitchers? Now?
Charlie has been I mean three pointfive four is nothing to sneeze at.
(57:58):
He has the losses because sometimes itwas that one ending or whatnot,
but he does have twelve wins.He does have that three point five four.
He just had a shut out,he gets the strikeouts or whatnot.
But who do you think will bethe playoffs starting pitchers, you know,
a month and a half from now, because I mean Schreider obviously is going
to be right there. But doyou say, okay, Max is back
(58:20):
all the way back and put himin there, or is it Charlie you
know, because like you said,Bryce, I don't know if you you
can really do that. We don'tknow Sarroka's status at this point, So
who who? Who do you think? I think Friedan's look good since he's
come back, so I think hewill be probably the opening starter for the
(58:43):
playoffs, the number one guy, just because of his experience. I mean,
the man started, you know, pivotal games for us in the World
Series forever, a legend in mybook for what he did, and he's
still pitching at a high level.Second to be Spencer Strider, Uh to
strike out King man, I mean, you cannot look up and get a
(59:06):
blue hit or something if you can'teven put the batt on the ball.
The power of pitching has always beenextremely valuable in the playoffs. It's why
John Smokes has more playoff wins thana guy like Greg Maddox for example.
You know what I mean, who'sa better regular season pictures? After that,
I would say Charlie. He's lookedpretty good lately. He is that
(59:27):
veteran, you know. And thenI probably the fourth starter, if he's
healthy, will be Kyle Wright ifhe's healthy and does well once he comes
back from his rehab start Like guess, I'm looking forward to see him.
Siro could get him, look tosee what he can do, you know,
and if he gets about four startsin September, and he may look
good enough to steal that last spot. The main thing I'm hoping for,
(59:47):
Chris, I don't want to haveany bullepen games in the playoffs, Okay,
those things make me nervous, right, yes, sir. And I
know Justic's hurt now you know, hopefully he recovers. They just speeded recovery.
But I'm just saying I don't wantto see any games where like you
know, Yet is starting because youknow the whole out and shoot right,
(01:00:13):
you know, So we could avoidbullpen starts in the playoffs, Chris,
I think we'd be in good shape. And I think if those four guys
in particular are healthy more right,we should be able to avoid it.
Yeah, that that wouldn't make anysense to put our bullpen in jeopardy on
that at all. Well, Ihope everybody enjoyed the first half of the
(01:00:37):
first show in months for around theatl again. I appreciate everybody who support
over the years, and hopefully oncewe get regular again people know we'll be
back on, we'll get even moreparticipation in support. I appreciate the ones
who are watching so far. Iknow I started the show really late tonight.
It's my fault. Couldn't help it. Not not I could do about
(01:00:59):
it. But Jordan, I knowyou gotta go. I appreciate you hanging
out for a little bit. Managain, we're uh we talk to facons
next. Look because I'm gonna hangingaround for a few more minutes after Here
he goes, and I got hyped. Now see see what happens is supposed
when we get the toss some sports. Yeah yeah, I'm gonna start the
next hour on the falcon so thatthing and said, I haven't closeted up
(01:01:20):
here. We're gonna talk some falcons. We're gonna talk a little uta,
We're gonna talk a little bit AtlantaDream. We're gonna talk to some Atlanta
United, We're gonna try to steakin some high school sports. We're gonna
see we can do it. Idon't know, and I got a little
bit more Hawks to talk to finishout the show. So definitely stay in
tune, or if you can't staywatch it, make sure you subscribe to
IMT on Worldwide YouTube channel. Inthe meantime, we're gonna take another little
(01:01:43):
break and just don't go anywhere. This is Chris on IMT on Worldwide Radio,
and this is Around the at lH. We'll be right back really
soon. You are listening to Aroundthe ETL with Chris and Jordan's We'll be
right back to a right Lanna sportstalk that's becomes to put the good even
(01:04:48):
everyone. This is Chris on iTY on Worldwide Radio. And this is
uh IMPROM two show on a ona Wednesday night, Thursday morning now six
four, six, six, five, two four or seven nine. Usually
start ten o'clock tonight, it didnot happen. Started at eleven, so
you know, going about an hourlater than usual. But appreciate those who've
(01:05:09):
been able to tune in a littlebit and thankfully we're back on the air,
and so if you do get tosee this after the fat thanks for
your support. Definitely make sure yousubscribe to the IMT on Worldwide Radio YouTube
channel. There is a website now, Imtmworldwide Radio dot com, so just
in case, I am working ongetting it set up to where if you
want to purchase them around the ATLmerchandise, you'll be able to do it.
(01:05:31):
I've seen some people tried and Ihadn't had time to set it up
completely, so I am working onthat. So definitely thanks to those who
have actually checked it out, andmay put the website up there real quick.
Just for those who don't know thatthere is a website, there is
a website now, so if Ican find it and there it is,
go check it out. IMT onWorldwide Radio dot com. So we have
(01:05:54):
not taught falcons in a long timeon around the at L, and typically
when we are about to do that, this is what we play. You're
welcome to it at the Home andthe Judge Burgers. Anybody thinking your kicked
(01:06:15):
to the curve any other team isa surd wearing black white silver credits for
the flood. No one cared toget dirty because we came from the mood
and we hunger. Yet an elpa, he rides, he ride, We
ride together, the birds of aflock. We're like birds of a feller.
No one get a party until weget the Lombardy. When we get
enough tonelp up. That's right,We're gonna get that Lombardi. Maybe this
year. Six pour six seven nineis the number. So the alount of
(01:06:40):
Falconist regular season is around the corner. Where are your thoughts on the moves
that remained this off season? Freeagency, the draft? How do you
feel about training camp? Those whogot a chance to go, I wasn't
able to. I wish I couldask what do you think about preseason thus
far? And where are your predictions? We can look at the depth chart
(01:07:02):
and also we could talk about thisfinal preseason game coming up. One thing
I do want to mention before Ilet Jordan come in here is that one
Nielsen as our defensive coordinator is reallygoing to make a difference. I think
we can see that it is tangible. You can you can see the effect
of him being here. And Ithink with this scheme, plus his attention
(01:07:23):
to detail and the players we have, I think we have a chance to
have a forty sat plus here. And remember last year we only had twenty
one and that was an improvement beforefrom the year before that, and last
year were second to last in theNFL. So when you can't put pressure
on your TB, you give upa lot of receiving yards and those yards
(01:07:44):
definitely catch up to you. AndI got some numbers to kind of take
to dictate that a little bit,and I'll go into a little bit further.
But Jordan, you said you havesome Falcon stuff you wanted to mention.
Go ahead. Well, thost ofall, I didn't get it chance
to go to training camp either, but I did get a chance to attend
this past preseason game. Shout outto doctor Walton who provided this with the
(01:08:09):
tickets. First of all, Isay it was a great experience man.
I was sitting twenty five rows upfrom the bottom of the field. I
had access to the depths of SkyClub downstairs with free food and free non
alcoholic drinks. There's also a pavilionout there where you can actually step out
and you are standing on the fieldlevel and able to watch the games from
(01:08:30):
that perspective. In my case,I was on the side with the visiting
team stop standing right there on thesidelines behind the Cincinnati Bengals players. So
highly recommend that if anybody ever getsa chance to get those tickets, they
are outstanding. With that being said, I thought the offense and defense both
looked very good on the little timedrives they were out there. It's hard
(01:08:57):
for me to gage the defense asmuch in that game as far as the
starters because Joe Burrow didn't play, but the guys certainly looked good when they
were out there. The offense movedthe ball very well on the drive they
were out there. The rickey runningback Jean Robinson looked explosive. Yeah,
well, there too many penalties,I mean not turning over the penalties.
(01:09:23):
Yeah, too many penalties and that'syou know, a couple of penalties after
we got into the red zone.Saw that drive out, so unfortunately they
weren't able to put up any points. When the starters were out there,
Desmond Rinner looked sharp, uh eightfor nine passing in the time he was
out there, which was also veryencouraging. You know, I'm I'm encouraged
(01:09:45):
about what I'm seeing so far.I think that you know, we do
have a chance to win this division. I think a couple of guys who
have stood out for me in thispreseason. One is a cornerback, the
alphad guy who's originally at Atlanta AreaNatives. In fact, he was on
the team last year. But heran a putback for a touchdown in the
(01:10:09):
first preseason game and made some greatplays defensively in that last preseason game.
I think that kid as a player, I think before saw setting done,
he will be the starting slot cornerback, the nickel guy for the Atlanta Pokers.
May not be this year, maybeby the end of this year,
but I think that's coming into theirfuture. That kid is talented. The
(01:10:29):
other player who I've been very impressedwith is de Marco Hellam's the big out
of Alabama seventh round draft pick andhe is yes, oh, he's definitely
making the team. He he actuallyis one of the highest rated rookies in
all of the NFL seventh actually seventhround pick. He's the seventh highest graded
(01:10:53):
rookie according to Pro Football Focus fromall the preseason actions. He had an
interception in both preseason games as well, and it's interesting. I do think
that with his emergence. Safety isone of the deepest spots for the Atlanta
Parkers. We all know we broughtin Jesse Pates, high caliber Pro Bowl
(01:11:13):
level safety from Cincinnati, and I'vealso heard great things about Jalen Hawkins in
practices in particularly the joint practice againstMiami and in camp as well as hell
Him, who we've seen in action. The one guy who I haven't heard
much about us Richie Grant, thesecond round picked from a couple of years
ago. So I almost wonder ifif Hawkins isn't gonna beat him out for
(01:11:35):
the other starting spot, and Iwonder, you know, if Hellen's didn't
end up passing him as well. You know, hopefully I'm wrong there,
hopefully you know, all of themare good and we have a just a
problem on not knowing who to play. But that's what I'm seeing so far
in that regards. Now, youknow, I do think, you know
(01:11:55):
what I mean, Jon Robinson isgonna be very good. But I must
submit, you know, everything Ikeep hearing out of Eagles camp as well
as the flashes I'm seeing in thepreseason games. Uh, Jaylen Carter is
a beach, sir, like theseguys are having a double and triple block
him these veterans already. You know, he's being compared to Sue and you
(01:12:18):
know, even up to Aaron Donald. You know what I mean, some
of the best defensive tackles they everplayed the game. There is Slay the
cornerback who's played with a lot ofthe great defensive tackles in his time,
says he's as good early as anyof those guys. He heard me laughing
because he compared him to a babyrhino. So but what that meaning said,
(01:12:38):
You know, I'm supporting Bijon sincehe is a Falcon. I never
I didn't like to pick over JalenCarter. But at the same time,
that was never about Bijon's talent.I think both players will be great players.
Just my philosophy when it comes tobuilding a football team is I'd rather
have the nixt Aaron Donald than thenext Marshall fault, even though you know
(01:12:59):
either you've got great player if youknow all the base. So that's the
way I feel about that. Chrisuh six four six six four two four
four seven nine. So that's kindthat kind of leads me into what I
was about. Question Chris, Yeah, quick question for you. The starters
only played one drive offense that indefense in that game. I know they're
(01:13:20):
not gonna risk playing them in thethird preseason game. Do you think just
one drive in the preseason is enoughto be ready for the regular season,
sir? With the fact that it'sthree preseason games and not four, that
fourth game does make a difference inregards to getting your reps in and things
(01:13:42):
of that nature. But now sincewe have the extra regular season game,
have you already have seen a lotof players or not a lot of players,
but you got players that are outwith the season already right in certain
cases, and or having injuries. And whether it's enough or not, I
think it's gonna be almost one ofthose deals where we're gonna have to trust
the coaching staff in their decision tosay they've seen enough in count and practices
(01:14:10):
to say this side knows what they'redoing, and this side knows what they're
doing offense and defense, and we'llbe able to put it to the test
when we play first game of theseason. Whether or not I feel this
enough, I'm I'm on the sideof caution in this case to say I
think it's gonna have to be,you know, get used to that,
(01:14:32):
you know, having three Yeah,I thought they would have played a little
bit more, at least the wholequarter or whatnot. But he was he
was what I think he was actuallyseven for nine with eighty yards in just
his appearance there with that tip interceptionthat really wasn't his interception, but the
(01:14:55):
band they can catch it. Isaw it. I needed to see.
I mean, I don't know whateverybody else that's passive affairs to the DV
got their airlands way. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I mean,
I can say you gotta just washedout off of whatnot and the penalties that
killed us. How I'm gonna mentionthe little a little bit. But Smith
Smith has him as he's the guy, you know, and just how he's
moving and everything like that. Smith, I believe is raid to get the
(01:15:19):
team on on on the field, you know, And I think he's just
getting everybody the depth where where yousaying Helen's and some of these other guys
they're favoring. That's going to bemore important to them more so than anything
else. Because again, this isthe first real off season where they really
addressed all angles of the team. But especially the depth. We did not
(01:15:42):
have no depth. If somebody getshurt, you're cooked. Right now,
We're a couple of people deep ina lot of different positions, maybe not
so much wide receivern necessarily. We'llsee how that pans out. With all
the other on the defensive side ofthe ball, We're I think we're good,
you know, offensive side of theball, and you know the line
and running backs. Of course, when pretty deep there, stuff like that
(01:16:02):
tight ends. You know. Wegot that all set up too, So
I think we're I think we're good. We'll see how it plays out as
far as how rusty his team isGame one. But I think that's where
the professionalism and the coaching staff comesinto play again, too, Is that
this is it. We gotta winten games like and it starts now,
(01:16:23):
right, So that's just my opinion. Yeah, I've been worried about offensive
live depth a little bit because ifsomething happens to one of the tackles,
that might mean we see jay EnMayfield on the field, which could mean
the death of Desmond Riner, whichwe want to avoid. We'll also worried
about depth at guard as well.Matthew Bergerron and the rookie has looked pretty
(01:16:44):
good at the left guard spot. With Matt Hennessy outs something would happened with
him or Lenstrom. You know,I would worry about whoever steps in in
their place. While I receive it, I do agree with you the depth
is not great there. But onething I do think, I think people
are sleeping on the addition of MattCollins. I think Mac Collins, who's
quite He's a very century guy,you know, a little bit peculiar,
(01:17:09):
to be honest with you, butI think he's very talented fridge assigning from
the Yoklan Raiders, a big physicalreceiver, solid route runner. I think
that Mac Collins can be for thisteam what the addition of Mohammed Sanu was
to the previous addition of the Falcons, which was a pretty good player and
(01:17:29):
a great glue guy. So thoseare my thoughts there, sir. Very
interesting. Well, one of thethings is is, you know, I've
always said does win championships were definitelyplays a big part in it. And
again we were second to last sackslast year twenty one. Just for people
to be reminded, nine of ourlosses last year were about ten points or
(01:17:54):
less. Okay, and just Ithrow it out there. Somebody went five
and eight and average one hundred andsixty seven yards in passing with twelve turnovers.
Doesn't really give you a good opportunityto win on that end either.
But I think if we had maybeforty plus sacs last year, I think
(01:18:15):
that would have all been the gamethat we win. All those games.
Okay, we had to be bestrushing attack in football as well, and
we won seven games to fight allthat crazy stuff. So I can said
seeing Ridder doing what he's doing andnot going to be a turnover magnet necessarily,
and him being able to actually makeall the throws and we and we
(01:18:36):
boasted all these different opportunities to reallypush the ball down the fields and things
that nature you just mentioned Mac Collinsand stuff like that. We got by
John Pitched obviously, London, yousaw what you saw a little glimpse of
what this could be as far asa powerhouse team really. So I'm excited
about this season. I'm hoping Ican get out to some regular season games
(01:18:59):
this year. I'm just excited forthe Atlanta Falcons to finally get back into
the playoffs on again. So formsir and like I said, I think
we've got a great chance to winthis division. I do think the defense
is going to be much improved. We've got a lot of great additions to
that defense. I already mentioned JesseBates. You got Colias Kmo the veteran
(01:19:24):
defensive lineman. You got Kaden Ellishthe linebacker. David I'm your Mata.
I think it's a quick, correctpronunciation, another guy who's brought in the
defensive tackle. I do like theadditions. I'm looking for a big year
out of Troy Anderson in his secondyear in the middle linebacker, with the
(01:19:45):
starting spot now belonging to complete tohim. And I am also looking for
a big year for for Friends ofthe Shows guy Jerome Drenovitch. And that's
all on eb Kitchen, the secondyear pass rusher out of Penn State.
So I'm definitely thinking that they're gonnabe much improved, looking forward to seeing
(01:20:10):
how improved. I do like whatNelson has done with them so far.
And I'm sorry just keep to saythis again, but I just can't help
it. If only Jaylen Carter wasthere, man to learn up under gratty,
Jared to learn up from the KlaiusKempbell and David Ojamata men, I
would be oh even that much moreexcited about this defense. Yes, I'm
(01:20:32):
excited about b Jean Robinson, butI just think it's much easier to get
a dominating running back than it isto find a dominant defensive lineman in the
draft. As far example right now, if let's say we had drafted Jaylen
Carter, we could be in themixic to get Jonathan Taylor from the coach
right now to be all running back, so you know, just about together.
(01:20:55):
Yeah, I thought I saw,I saw the hint that Philly might
just you know, get everybody. It's a sickning right now. I'll tell
you, oh boy, four sevennine is the number again, Jorian.
Thanks for hanging out for this periodof time. I know you got on
a long day ahead. I don'twant to keep it too much longer,
of course, but definitely we'll bewe'll be getting the regularity back again for
(01:21:18):
around the HL on Wednesday night, hopefully at ten o'clock. So definitely appreciate
your time tonight. Many Yeah, sir, I gotta go and get up
out of here man, so Ican get to rest. Uh, you
know, can't be a danger tomcclents on the road. HEYDA am gonna
miss this UGA segment, but Iwill just say this. I know we
(01:21:39):
did lose running back for the season. Guy was it was gonna probably be
our third running back today. Butregardless of that, we're gonna win this
thing for big numbers. Seventy seven. Devil Willcox unfortunately passed away in the
car crash, so you heard herfirst. Ladies and gentlemen, the UGA
three peet he is down on lowdonThank you to all you guys out there
(01:22:01):
who listened to us. Man,we really appreciate you. And even though
this is not the end of theshow, I get up out of here
by just saying what I always say, gotta thank God for giving me the
breath that I breathe to talk aboutthese Atlanta and these Georgia sports that I
love. Peace up a town down, y'all talk to you later. Man.
(01:22:30):
Appreciate Jordan coming on. Like Isaid, we started to show a
little bit later than usual, hourlater actually, so definitely appreciate him staying
on on that extra time as well. That being said, because we haven't
done it in a while, let'sgo ahead and talk a little bit about
the Atlanta Dream And since we hadn'tdone the intro with them for a while,
let's go ahead and do that rightnow as well, if I can
(01:22:57):
find it there is. Do youknow what kind of woman you have to
be to rise in an all malerun, all male controlled, all male
executed, all male domain, allmen all the time? Do you know
what kinds of woman you have tobe to survive? Not only survive,
(01:23:23):
but to thrive and to gain theirutmost respect, their utmost regard, and
to gain the admiration of not onlythe men you work with, but everybody
who encounters you. Do you knowwhat kind of woman you had to be
in nineteen eighty You've got to bepowerful? Powerful, powerful powerful. So
(01:23:50):
they're having a pretty decent season relativeto what's happened last year and a year
before that and the year before that. Right now, they're sixteen and seventeen.
Now. Last year they were fourteenand twenty two. That's how they
ended the season. They were fifthin the East in the w NBA.
This year they're sixteen to seventeen andthird in the East, fifth best record
(01:24:12):
in the w NBA, So that'sdefinitely better. Than everything from last year.
Now, they recently lost by twelvepoints to the best team in the
league, the Las Vegas Aces.Asian Wilson dropped fifty three. That's crazy.
Now. Royan Howard she had twentyseven, Danielle Robinson had seventeen.
The rookie Hayley Jones had twenty three. Off the bench, she's playing.
She's had a very decent season.Really, when you when you talk about
(01:24:34):
having another rookie back to back RyanHoward last year winning Rookie of the Year,
I just think that right now,the good thing about this team is
the new coach Tnisian Wright giving themsome true directions, some true competitive spirit,
and they're competing every night. Lastyear that wasn't happening. Thus the
(01:25:00):
losses that we had last year. The one big thing I continue to see
though, is whatever reason we havean addressed getting somebody for the inside.
We have a small team age aregetting fifty three points verifies that Again,
it's this we don't have enough tokeep people out of the paint to rebound
(01:25:20):
on the regular basis. It's coolthat we got some shooters and everything like
that, but the eventuality is we'regetting out muscle by too many teams out
there. But despite that, thoughwe have matched up pretty good with some
of the other top teams in theleague. We have some actual wins against
some of them. So I thinkthere's a chance to at one if they
(01:25:41):
can finish the season out strong, they can qualify for the playoffs. And
then at that point is if noHo's barred because the playoffs system in the
w NBA, of course it's shorterthan men's, so they actually have a
chance to maybe advanced to at leasta second round, possibly depending on the
matchup is It's gonna be about matchupsfor the Avanta Dream But again again that's
(01:26:03):
why I think is their biggest thingright now, and when you really think
about it though, no matter whatwhen you're talking about from all the term
hall and the bad stuff that happenedin two thousand nineteens where they were eighteen
twenty six to where they are now, completely different story. Plus they do
have an up kicking attendance at thegames themselves. A lot more people are
(01:26:25):
supporting the team because more people knowthat the team exists. If you've never
been to the Atlanta Dream Game, you need to go. You know you
live in Atlanta. If I livedin Atlanta, I would be able to
go to more games. I don'tlive in Atlanta, so it is a
terrible occurrence for me to even tryingto come up there sometimes, but I
try to do what I can mostlywell, I got season tickets again for
(01:26:48):
the Hawks. I will be goingto those games. I also plan too,
even though I'm not talking about themtonight, College Park and also the
Atlanta Dream. So I'm gonna tryto duel it up, maybe a weekend
here and there or whatnot to whereI can go to multiple games and the
season or whatnot. So so that'smy plan. I don't know what your
(01:27:08):
plan is, but you should makeof a plan, especially if you have
a daughter or a niece, rightwho who? Who? Heay? Playing
the w NBA might be something theymay want to do if they're very athletical
whatnot. Never know, they couldbe playing in Atlanta home team, right
contract right, So that's something tothink about. But the Atlanta Dream,
(01:27:29):
I think has a chance to goto the playoffs this year. I hope
they do. It'll be a greatlook after. Like I said, the
last three or four years consecutively,it's been tough, But like I said,
I wanted to you know, ifyou don't know, Yes, we
talk about all sports all around theATA. Go just for shirt. It
says around the HTL all sports allAtlanta. Think y'all can read that,
(01:27:54):
but there you go, right, that's why y'all can't see it. We
talk about all sports here. Okay, So if you want to talk at
a lot of sports, subscribe tothe YouTube channel IMT on Worldwide Radio.
You can follow on IMT and WorldwideRadio on Instagram, or you can follow
me on Twitter and to let atl or Jordan twenty three atl My co
(01:28:15):
hosts were just left the IMTM radioTwitter page as well. If you want
to go there. Make sure youvisit the IMTM Worldwide Radio website. Okay,
make sure you do that. There'ssome cool stuff on there. Actually,
well I didn't get attempt to doit. I supposed to update the
site this evening before the show, but I'm running late. But go and
(01:28:35):
check out the site. I'll postedup real quick for a second before we
go to the next segment, whichis Atlanta United. Because we haven't done
Atlanta United segment in a wild solet's see if I can remember the music
for that, or not the music, but the intro. Let's see when
you get that going seventy thousand strongcalling out at l You gotta go to
(01:29:51):
a match. Din't ever think you'vebeen. You gotta do it. I
haven't been able to go either, but I've watched plenty of matches. It's
got to s atmospheres in MLS.Some people who have forgotten Atlanta United has
a MSL MLS Cup. They've theyare, They've won a championship in the
last five years. So can theyget back though? What has to happen.
(01:30:15):
We know we've lost Joseph Martinez. We know we've lost Miggy Miguel.
We've lost some really, really, really good players over the last few years.
Now right now is not looking toogreat. You know Atlanta United currently,
I think they're in seventh with thirtyeight points. They're very close to
(01:30:35):
not being in the playoffs. Now. They did just have a big win
against the Seattle's Founders. I'm shuttingthem out to the nothing. I believe
it's pronounced George Georgio Jio goes jacooping up joke. Oh wow, I
thought I was gonna have this tonight, But I am pretty tired, Jia
kumakus at two goals for the victory. Now, they still have time to
(01:31:00):
move up in the standings if theycontinue to at least score goals develop up
their points. They can't really affordanymore. They can't get shut out anymore.
That's going to pretty much sink themat this point. They really need
to actually win some matches so theycan get their points up though, So
that's gonna be the biggest thing. Can they keep that up again too?
(01:31:20):
Oh, shutout is great, butthey need to keep that going because otherwise,
like we've already had so many differentmanagers over the last two years.
That's hurt them as far as thiscontinuity to an extent. And like I
said, we've lost some really talentedplayers overseas, So can we keep First
(01:31:41):
of all, can we attract otherplayers? You know, No, we're
not going to get messied or anybodylike that. We're not. We're not
We're not going to get him. We're not going to get him. But
can we get some others to comeover? And then can you keep the
homegrown the young talent from the quoteunquote the MLS league that we have on
Atlanta United two. Can you keepsome of them long term? And are
(01:32:04):
they good enough to get us overthe hump, because that's what's gonna come
down to. In in in soccer, defense is great, but you have
to be able to score some goals. You gotta be able to put pressure
on the other team. And dowe have the players to do that on
the consistent basis? Like I said, it's here, are there, We're
(01:32:26):
we're writing, we're seventh. Youknow, we're not that far away from
being not in contention now we do. There's still another month or so with
matches to go, so there's againthere's plenty of time, the little bit
of a cushion to where as longas they don't fall too much further down,
you know, we at least getto the playoffs. We need to.
We need to be regularly in theplayoffs. We have such a great
(01:32:47):
fan base in Atlanta again, seventyfive thousand people rooting and twoting them out
there. They're loud, they're they'reinvolved, they know the game and stuff
like that, and the ones whodon't, they're learning it. They want
to learn it. That's the biggestthing. They've done. Such a good
job of marketing this team. That'sone of the good thing that Blank has
done with the with the Atlanta Unitedbringing them in is that you have a
(01:33:12):
community that loves that team. SoI think you need to take advantage of
that and let's win something. Sothat's just my take on Atlanta United for
right now. I don't want togo too long because I still want to
do some of these other segments asI can. And that being said,
we're gonna skip around a little bit. Actually let's see if this works.
(01:33:33):
Uh man, this is gonna betough. So I say I'm gonna do
some high school football. I don'thave an intro for it yet or anything
like that. I'm not familiar withall of the regions and things of that
nature in regards to Georgia, Stateof Georgia, Atlanta, the like,
(01:33:56):
differents like Norcross and moods and thingsof that nature. So I'm going to
say about that because there's a lotof teams obviously, like I'm looking at
Class seven eight, Regions seven,Class six, ay, all the way
down to schools in my area likeKendrick High Schools, Shaw, stuff like
that. Well, I'm gonna tryto do is I'm gonna go by rankings
(01:34:18):
as far as the top at leastthe top five in the state per region,
and I'll do those scores and I'lltry to keep up with that over
the year. I'm gonna try todo it like that initially. Now,
if you happen to be, youknow, an alumni graduate from one of
these high schools, and you wantto talk some high school football, you've
been to the game, definitely lovesyou know, love you to call in.
(01:34:42):
Back in my day, I didn'treally go to a lot of high
school football games because you know,I just have beef with every team.
I don't just go. But becauseI play basketball, I don't care about
football that much the back then. But I know it is big in Jordan.
You know, we got some topI think Beauford is number one off
the top of my head, Ibelieve right. So, and then of
(01:35:04):
course when high school football, you'retalking about high school the college. Where
are those kids gonna go? Arethey going to Uga? Are they going
to Georgia State? Are they goingto Arbor and you know all that kind
of good stuff. Are they gonnadare go to the ACC for some crazy
reason? Don't do that, right, So we'll talk about that. We
can talk about you know, who'sgetting you know, approached or thought about
(01:35:26):
in regards to what's the word committingto a particular college and stuff like that.
I'm gonna I'm gonna try to dothat a little bit more. We
didn't we couldn't do it the lastfew years because we were we were concentrating
on college football. So we wereAlbany State, you know, Clark,
Atlanta, all the you know, all the black colleges of course, Georgia
(01:35:53):
Tech and Uga of course, asfar as Georgia because we're only clever in
Georgia. Okay, So but nowwe're gonna do high school. We need
a little bit of help, youknow. So if they'll want to call
in and talk about some high schoolfootball, definitely feel free to do that.
We definitely appreciate that. Now Ihave time, I'm a finish this
(01:36:13):
show out with talking some more Hawkstalk and a new segment I call fact
or fiction. All right, Soinitially I started talking about Trey Young and
this sheer hatred that so many peopleJordan said, maybe not everybody. What
is a lot of people that makesit kind of almost everybody? Because they
(01:36:34):
keeps saying it out loud and inpublic. You would see these tweets and
Facebook page posts and and Facebook linesand all this kind of stuff where people
are outright hating mister Tray Young andhis whole family, kids and everybody.
Just include everybody. Well, likeI said, keep that same energy when
it comes to Tray when we werein our first championship and we're on Peachtree
(01:36:55):
Street and having a good old time, and you'll just be there. Your
arm told this mad that that TreyYoung has won an NBA championship in at
level. We keep doing it.But the other part of this conversation that
I wanted to talk about is andit's the elephant in the room when it
comes to one particular player that's onthe team right now. If I can
(01:37:18):
find my page here, I loosticsfor some reason. Okay, So DeAndre
Hunter. Now, if you've neverwatched the show before, go to IMT
on Worldwide Radio on YouTube. Igot two shows that I talk about Hunter,
(01:37:40):
And let me say this first. There's no such thing as scapegoat,
for which Hunt. Okay, ifsomeone uses the terminology of being a scapegoat
or skpegoating somebody, there's circumstances thatoccurred with that particular individual to put them
in that position. I can't doit because I don't play ABA basketball.
(01:38:01):
Okay, I'm not on the court. Okay. So if a person is
even in a viewpoint of supposedly someoneblaming someone for scapegolding somebody that doesn't really
exist. It's a matter of factor fiction. What has actually happened?
How is that person that's actually performeddoes matter? The results on the court,
(01:38:24):
per their influence on the game doesmatter. There's a measurement system,
it's called statistics, and it's quantifiedby the team's record overall. Okay,
So all this stuff about scapebuilding andwitch hunt and stuff like that, I
don't pay attention to any of that. Okay. Plus, guess what once
that player signs a diet line ofa professional contract. Just like y'all hate
(01:38:47):
Trey Young, but there's a differencebetween criticism and hatred. If you can't
take the criticism part, you shouldn'tplay professional sports at all anyway, Because
when you play not well or youplayed bad all the time, you're scoring
seven points a game, you're gettingone, you're getting half an assist a
(01:39:08):
game. That's bad. Tray Youngis not bad. I explained that at
the beginning of the show by along shot. Trey Young is not bad.
Go watch the beginning of the showNBA history. His name is all
over the place five years in.Okay, so let me let me start
off with this real quick. Letme see if I don't think I had
(01:39:30):
that on here. Let's see,I think I did. Let's see and
I did not yet I thought Idid, so I'll pull that up later.
Oh no, I did. Okay, there it is. Being drafted
four is not the same as beingdrafted late first round, is it?
(01:39:57):
Okay, just throwing that out there. If somebody get and drafted four the
same as somebody getting drafted nineteen.Okay, pre we throw some career numbers
out there for y'all. Seventeen pointsa game, eight rebounds a game,
fifty five percent from the floor, thirty five percent from three, seventy eight
(01:40:17):
percent from free throws, one blocka game career. Okay, so those
numbers, those are pretty good numbers. Okay, what draft pick was you
say that person was drafted at?Okay again, I'll repeat it. Seventeen
points a game, eight rebounds agame, fifty five percent from the floor,
(01:40:41):
thirty five percent career from three seventyeight percent from free throw line,
one block a game. Now here'sanother player. Fourteen points a game,
four rebounds a game, forty fourpercent from the floor, thirty five percent
from three, seventy nine percent fromfree throw line, zero blocks a game.
So out of those two players, which one would you attribute, Oh,
(01:41:05):
that's the number four pick? Andwhich one would you attribute that's the
number nineteen pick? Okay, nowbefore I answer, one of these players
in his rookie season averaged ten pointsand seven rebounds a game, not starting
a lot of games because of theparticular coach at the time. But his
(01:41:26):
sophomore season he went to nineteen andnine. His third season twenty one and
ten. The other player that Imentioned, the other player that I mentioned
twelve thirteen points a game. Thisis actually the first year fifteen points a
(01:41:48):
game actually happened. Most of y'allwho are hospans of who I'm talking about,
I'm talking about DeAndre Hunter and JohnCollins, who's no longer here,
got traded to the Utah Jazz.John Collins seventeen and eight career, that's
after having his worst year ever pertwo reasons that finger of his and then
(01:42:11):
not getting the ball anymore. Hewas basically exited out the offense. Okay,
and he's thirteen points a game andI think six rebounds of game despite
all that. But one of theshows that I did in regards to the
Hunter, one of them was calledlet me think if I can find it
real quick? I actually rolled themdown why it's not fair one of them.
(01:42:36):
The premise of the show was,oh, there it is false expectations
and do you not want the bestout of a player? See? What
I don't understand is at a certainpoint when you draft somebody at number fourth
pick, why is it Here inAtlanta, there's no big deal. But
in other places, if four years, four or five years go by,
(01:42:59):
you drafted four and you're still reallynot affecting the team in the way that
it reflects a number four pick, then how is it so much different here
than there? Okay? How doyou continue to be like, oh,
it's okay, then remember but yeah, I don't mind people getting their money,
but once you get your money, you've got to be better once you
(01:43:21):
get that money. Brown, JamonBrown can't go from twenty six points a
game to nineteen points a game averageall of a sudden making the money that
he does make. Now, I'msorry, that's a factor. You gotta
look that's the only way you couldlook at it. Okay, But in
(01:43:42):
regardless to Hunter, he was drafteddefensive player of the Year coming out of
Virginia and winning a national championship. He's supposed to be the win on our
team, the stopper on our team. And to not want to have an
expectation of that, what is thatreally saying for some of y'all He's supports
(01:44:04):
You're supposed to support him not beingthat great at the number four pick,
that we gave up assets for itto get him. If you remember,
okay, in those two shows thatI did false expectations and do you not
want the best out of a playeron IMT and worldwide radio on YouTube,
(01:44:25):
go look it out, go lookit up. I should say I broke
down Hunter in comparison to other wingsin the league on both offense and defense.
Rebounding, stills, assists, doeverything, get into the basket,
all these things. I broke it. I break it really, really,
really succinctly to show, well, why shouldn't we get this rather than what
(01:44:49):
we have been getting because it matters. First of all, his attempts per
game really hasn't flux your in theyears he's been playing here, okay,
and this year they went up forthe first time when his average has been
But I've always said effort comes intoplay on the defensive end, besides knowing
(01:45:13):
how to play defense. But here'sthe deal on offense. His offense goes
up in the playoffs as opposed tothe regular season. How much so thirteen
points a game last year, theyear before last, I should say,
forty six percent from the field. But in the playoffs we're talking about the
(01:45:33):
Miami Series, now twenty one agame. Okay. This year he was
at sixteen point seven points a game. He was getting six point seven rebounced
a game in the playoffs, butin the regular season barely four. If
he was doing those numbers in theplayoffs in the regular season, the Hawks
(01:45:56):
would not be a playing team. It'd be impossible, because he would be
a focal point. He'd be afact in the in the game on the
offensive and defensive end, period, point blank. It's not even contestable,
okay. But as of right now, Hunter is not even top ten in
any defensive category at all. Asnumber four pick in the NBA draft,
(01:46:18):
Okay, Everett matters when it comesto that, and we're relying on him.
He is the start any different he'scoming off the bench or something.
But he can't come off the benchbecause we just renewed his contract. Right,
Why couldn't he be the number twooption out to trade? Why is
that such a problem? Why isthat such a magical concept? That's why
(01:46:40):
I keep asking why isn't he atwenty game score? He has the jump
shot to do it. He shootsthirty five percent from three. For crying
out loud, could he be anineteen point a game score? Eighteen point?
Why is he at fifteen or lessplus? Why isn't he the lockdown
defensive player? Take injuries out ofit, because even with forty forty five
(01:47:01):
games or whatever you got guys whoplayed in their average is still where it's
supposed to be. So why isn'the taking on the responsibility of being the
best win on the team. Again, that's why he was drafted, Like,
you don't just win defensive Player ofthe Year. I look, I
don't need I either. Yeah, does he does he have to be to
Sean Prince from the Detroit Pistons. Not necessarily, but he needs to be
(01:47:26):
just better. Does he need tobe Carmelo Anthony on offensive on the offensive
end, No, not really, but he just needs to be better.
Why can't he get six boards agame or block a game? Two stills?
Stop people? So let me dothis because if you don't, if
you're not hearing what I'm saying sofar, let me show you video wise,
I got from a video. Now, I'm gonna go through it a
(01:47:48):
little bit. I don't know ifI'm gonna get to do all of them.
Checking the time real quick, well, that's right, that clock is
fast. I'm good on time.Now. If you watch the videos on
a round the HL already on thetwo videos I talked to you about the
two shows, you've seen some ofthese, but I'm gonna replay and I'm
I've added some more and I don'tknow if they're in order. I'm gonna
(01:48:11):
try to get them, but I'mgonna try to go through them all at
once and just want you to looknow, if you've never seen my Sunday
Night basketball videos, I talk aboutthe fundamentals of basketball all the time.
I'm forty plus years old. Iknow what to do on that court.
Okay, not as fast as Iused to be, but I can still
do my job. And my jobis to try to win the game by
(01:48:33):
any dogs on means necessary. Iain't going out there for exercise. I'm
trying to win, whether it bepassing the ball, which is one of
my specialties, blocking out, gettinga rebound, getting a block here and
there. I'm trying to win.I don't got to shoot my team out
the game. If I know whomy shooters are, I'm getting you the
ball, Okay, if nobody elseis going okay. Now, I gotta
try to do some work in thepops. Okay, maybe hit an occasional
(01:48:57):
jumper when I when I get aroundto it. But I want to show
y'all on the defense beside my myDRAFTI with Hunter over these years, but
especially recently because again he should bethe difference He could be the difference maker
on our team. Trey Young keepsus in all these games and outright wins
(01:49:18):
games for us. But if wehad Hunter doing one or the other,
either on the offensive them being dominantor the defensive m locking down people,
the Hospital win all the time.We would never be in the play in
ever, ever, ever, ever, So let me show you why I
say that. I'm ana dude.Probably father sticks videos. Just watch them.
(01:49:40):
There's gonna be no commentary except forthe announcers themselves. Check it out
down the Scritch. But what's gonnagame? Five different stories so far here
at say I'll do the commentary, then we play that real quick. Remember
(01:50:04):
the lack of sharpest job of scritchwere botting the game? Five different stories
so far in here. Knowing whereyour man is? During last season on
a lot of different show well,I did a live, a Facebook live.
(01:50:25):
Usually after the games, I wouldalways go back. Here's the reason
why we lost points in the paintright? Second chance points? Right?
Why don't you know where your manis? Hunter? Let pay it on
glide all the way to the basket. No resistance whatsoever? Would that two
(01:50:51):
points would have made a difference? What was the score? Did you see?
The score doesn't matter? Why couldn'the just block out his man?
Here's another one. I'm sure theybecause they couldn't percentage, but they're thinking
they're definitely not settling. You wantBoston firing? Did he really try to
(01:51:15):
fight through that? Screen, ordo you let the screen fight him?
Here's another one. He's been atest of the offense of Glass of the
Boston has dominated the board's overall. The first half were what exactly what's Unna
(01:51:38):
doing right there? That one wasvery irritating, more so than almost all
everything else right there, because that'skind of the phynopsis of what I've been
talking about. You get eat. Here's another one, think you over just
before the store of the season aftera Femai Joko was suspended for violating keep
(01:52:00):
cooler, be crowding around Hunt, lazy hops right around Hunter. Now I'm
not sure about this one, soyes it is. Here's another one fourteen
three fourteen and how told me thirtythree st So you're having to get out
(01:52:25):
acol three balls? Hey them splashesthrough a three point fighting through screens or
as I always talk about, notlet yourself get screen in the first place,
because see, you know what youcan do. You can avoid the
screen, okay, hand or communicationwise, stay with your man. See
(01:52:45):
again, A lot of this isthe technique part of it. This is
where coaching comes into it. Butat a certain point pride has to come
into it. It's the playoffs. But this is also how he's played in
the regular season. There's one goodseason of defense that we gotten out of
Hunter in his time here so far. Other than that, it's sporadic at
best. But this stuff is inthe playoffs, it mattered. We should
(01:53:08):
have beat Boston in the first round. We should have beat them. We
should have beat them. Okay,so I think this is the next one.
Let's see Dicky brand out, whenyou prevent for us to shooting nine
percent of shoot de gres? Whatwas that from Hunter? Did y'all see
(01:53:30):
that? Let me let me playit again, Dick ran out, Can
you prevent for us to shooting thenine percent of the grace? It's just
excuse it. At this point,I don't want to do that one because
I don't think that is it.Here's another screen that look like it was
(01:53:53):
Theresa rising and hitting another thrase fifteengras In the first he's acting exasperated,
but he kind of did that tohimself as well with Horford. There there's
one with mister smart. I believeagain this is this is another. Now
(01:54:14):
this one if I'm running on thisone, this is one where yes,
in this case, Tray should haveswitched he didn't. However, Hunter had
plenty of time to avoid this screenas well, but he didn't because I
mean again, I was just abasketball player. I wouldn't have let this
(01:54:34):
screen happen. But y'all look atit. That's an NFL rub rout right
there, right. I think thatis the last one. No, I
(01:54:57):
think this is it should be witha lot more company. For the level
of aggression. Was like the daybetween Boston and now we can stay.
That was a great move, butI need my great defensive player to stop
that great move. That's just me. Why shouldn't I want that? Why
shouldn't we get that? Because theother teams they get that, just like
(01:55:25):
the Miami Heat shut down trade lastyear, they figured out what they need
to do to shut him down specifically, and just that. Just for the
heck of it, I gotta playedthis just as a remembrance of you know
how it could have been the wholeseries and its young. That was young.
(01:55:58):
But some of y'all hate trade youngthough, So that all being said,
and let's see how many Let's seehow much time I got left.
Probably not too much. I gotthree minutes less. So I'm wrapping this
up. So I just want theexpectation of what Hunter should be to actually
happen, rather than us hoping andwishing year after year after year. It
(01:56:23):
we're way past that now, rightAnd and again it's a matter of where
their options out there? Are theiroptions out there? Yes, do we
do? We can? We affordto hope and wish that this is the
season that now is all going tocome together and he's gonna play hard every
(01:56:45):
night. He's gonna play to hisutmost skill level every night, and not
just coast by. I don't know, I don't know, it's going to
be interesting in the sea, butI I just want to throw it out
there say we should and deserve betterwhen it comes to the wing position,
(01:57:05):
the small forward position, where hecould be a dominant player in the league.
He's the number four pick. Heshould be he should be great now,
not just still okay and just kindof slide and by we need we
then needed to help. We needto help, especially where we are now,
with where our team is. Ifthis is a team we got,
(01:57:28):
it's all on him again now, right. So that being said, I'm
