Speaker 2 (01:23):
Prime, Must Good morning everyone. This is Chris on I
(02:37):
M t M Worldwide Radio. This is Around the at
L on a Monday morning. Thanks for everybody for tuning
in as I finish up my last couple of invites
on the fly. Here, I'm trying to I'm trying to
do this in the right way and that's all I
(02:57):
can do from now. Hopefully I got enough. Six four
six six five two four four seven nine is the number.
This is a call in show in case you want
to call in and talk some Hawks. There's a number
at the bottom. I'll let that scroll through in a second.
But first and foremost follow on IMT and Worldwide Radio.
That's my broadcast channel. Share that with people who like
(03:20):
to talk Atlanta Hawks sports or Atlanta Hawks basketball and
all Atlanta sports. That is you can follow on Facebook
right there at the bottom, Facebook and Instagram, IMT and
Worldwide Radio. You can follow me on Twitter, Intellect, The
Intellect ATL and my co host Jordan Jackson at Jordan
twenty three ATL. I will scrow those at the bottom
(03:43):
again very soon. Again. Today's show is brought to you
by Southern Classic Transportation in Atlanta. Four four two nine,
one zero one five. Oh, make sure you let Dennis
know you're needing some transportation to and from at Atlanta
to another state South Carolina, Athens, Georgia for UGA games,
all the way to Florida. They'll take you there. They
(04:05):
take you there, install and comfort. There's a very comfortable ride,
take it from me. All right. That being said, let's
get into today's show now. If you've never listened to
around the AHL side notes before, it's a specific show
about specific Atlanta sports toss topic. Lately it's been centric
on the Atlanta Hawks. I've been doing the preseason games
(04:27):
up till now, but if you've looked over the last
couple of weeks and months, I've also done games from
twenty twenty three. I did the last eight games, broke
them down shot for shot, How did the other team
score on the Atlanta Hawks, so you can see it
for yourself and then make a determination on what some
of the problems were from twenty twenty three. All right,
(04:48):
so today I'm going to be going over the OKC game,
the last preseason game of the twenty twenty four year.
And as I get ready to set this up for everybody,
Oh again, six four six sixty five two four four
seventy nine is the call in number if I can
find it again. There it is, So let's just make
(05:09):
sure I don't have anybody on the line early and
I don't so. Oh and by the way, if you're
watching from Facebook or YouTube, thank you, or Twitter, thank you,
or Instagram because it's on Instagram live right now, thank you.
Make sure you comment. If you're watching on the YouTube channel,
make sure you comment in the comment section it is open.
I will read it, or you can call in and
(05:30):
I'll give you a little bit of time to talk
about what you think about whatever Hawks related that you
want to. So let's see, okay, see okay, see I
actually put all of these episodes on the same page,
so I'm trying to find it now. It should be
the last one there is, Hawks versus okay. See, here
we go. Now. One thing I do want to remind
people is that there are certain things that are still
(05:55):
happening from the twenty twenty three season. And even though
I did say that the Boks would be at least
the sixth seed, there are things that worry me because
they have not been coached out of the team yet
and It really worries me because I don't see any
adjustments off the bench. And yes, some of the player
(06:17):
personnel moves could mitigate some of these things over time,
because we haven't seen the whole team together, you know,
playing four minutes and everything like that. Of course, but
it's a stretch if these things can't be stopped all together, okay,
and they really need for us, they need to be
stopped altogether. And we'll get into these well, I'll go
(06:39):
ahead and mention them now, so you know, I played
basketball and I will talk about this at the end
of the show. I'm gonna do a Sunday I've done
my Sunday Night basketball video. I just need to upload it.
But there are certain things that I always like to
talk about. Stopping a ball on a fast break, rotating
to an open man when they're open, blocking out on
(07:01):
this shots, contesting all shots, especially if they're threes, staying
with your assignments, stay with your man, communicating on defense, okay,
and then again getting back on defense aka stopping the
fast break, and overhealthing. All of these things are important
(07:23):
because in twenty twenty three, the Hawks gave up fourteen
or more threes. It's a repeating subject. I know, but
I'm gonna keep saying it until it stops. We gave
up fourteen or more threes last year. Every game. We
gave up fifty three or more points in the paint
most of the time, more every game. We were twenty
fifth in the NBA. That's not top ten. We were
(07:44):
twenty six in block shots last year. That means we
don't contest anything. That's at the bottom. We were twenty
eighth in fast break points. I raised my voice because
we lose games simply because of that. In the heat
game we get in the heat preseason game, we gave
up thirty six fast break points. Is that accept the
both to anybody? Okay, So those are things that need
(08:05):
to be hunkered down. We got we gotta that has
to be changed, all right. Now we go over the
breakdown those the game initially for ok see, we lose
the game one oh four to ninety nine. Okay, see,
only had thirty six points in the paint in this game.
So that was good. Okay, that's great. That's why the
(08:26):
game was close for one thing, right, But they had
sixteen second chance points, they had seventeen fast break points,
and they hit seventeen threes in this game. The top
guys for LKC And usually in my breakdowns, I usually
mentioned the top three scores on the OKC side the
(08:46):
top three scores on the Hawk side. So for the OKC,
Chat had fifteen and sixteen minutes, he shot five to
ten shooting on that. Uzamin had fifteen points off the bench,
and Isaiah Joe At in fifteen minutes had sixteen points
off the bench, six or ten shooting four to eight
(09:08):
from three. We lost one oh four to ninety nine.
I'm just saying now for the Hawks, we had forty
two points in the pain. We had fifteen second chance points,
but we only had four fast break points. So seventeen
fast break points for ok see four fast break points
for Atlanta. Does it really equal out? Does it? The
(09:30):
Hawks did hit sixteen threes, another reason why the game
was closed for the Hawks. Our top guys, obviously, Kobe
had a great night, thirty one points on twelve to
twenty six from the floor, seven to fourteen from three,
you had four assists he had to still he have
the block. And again I'm gonna say it right now
before I get to that end of the show. This
is another reason why Kobe should be our backup point guard.
(09:53):
We have one followed, we need to use him. Okay,
I'll talk about that later. Though, Dyson had thirteen points,
eight boards for assists, three steals for our third leading score.
Because a lot of people had nine points, I'm gonna
use oh because it was his first game. He had
nine points on four to seven shooting. He had four boards. Now,
(10:15):
since we did lose the game, why did we lose
the game? It was close? Right? Well, wasn't free throws?
We didn't miss a free throw in this game? Strange huh.
Turnovers were about even okay, see, did have more stills
in blocks. Oh. By the way, six four six six
two four four seven nine is the number to call
in if you want to talk about it or comment
(10:37):
in the comment section, please. We were even on boards
and assists. The fast break points come into play, okay again,
seventeen fast break points. Really, you know, the Hawk shot
twenty nine percent from three okay, see thirty eight percent,
So you do see a little bit of a difference
there in the percentage. We were even on boards and
(10:57):
assists for the most part. But again, those fast breakpoints,
aren't they preventable. I'm gonna show you why we keep
giving up fast break points. If you watch the Heat
preseason game that I showed you, it's disgusting. This isn't
as bad, but again it's the same stuff that over
and over again comes up that we don't do to
(11:20):
prevent fast breakpoints. Again, the Hawks have four, So why
can't we just give up ten on the other side
instead of seventeen or thirty six or twenty five, on
and on and on and on and on. All right,
and remember points in the paint. Pacers had sixty four
(11:41):
points in the paint. Philly had forty eight points in
the paint. Heat had sixty two points in the paint. Okay,
the Pacers game, they gave. We gave up seventeen threes
to the Pacers, but not seventeen for long. That's the
long thing. Pacers had thirteen threes, Philly had fourteen threes.
(12:03):
He had thirteen threes. We can we keep teams ten
threes or under because if we do that, we win
more games as well. If we gave up less threes,
less fast break points, for crying out loud, we would
win more games. Our win loss total would slip just
on that and again this is team type stuff. One
(12:24):
player can't allow seventeen threes. Well kind of they can,
because Bogie gave up those seven threes against Dallas Mavericks.
I showed you that game. But it's a team stat nonetheless,
all right, because it's just about rotating. Again, Explain to
me why you don't believe these things are team issues,
(12:46):
blocking out and giving up all the points in the paint,
or rotating and stopping second chance points right again, the
fast break points alone. Just stay with your man, overhelping,
stay with your man. I'm gonna show that again tonight
this morning. What time is it this afternoon as well?
All right, so let's get into the game. First quarter,
(13:07):
first shot. Now again, I'm gonna bring in coaching again
because I'm sayed a billion times we are not being
coached on defense. We are not getting no adjustments from
the bench. Okay, if your teammate makes it a round
of screen or through a screen, okay, you need to
stay with your man at that point because he's being guarded.
(13:27):
To continue to overhelp him follow the ball handler makes
no spense because all you had to do is switch,
call it out. It's all you had to do is switch,
switch everything if you got to, but don't leave a
man wide open. But we don't do that. Our whole
team is determined to follow a ball handler, no matter
what the circumstances. And that's not basketball, okay, it this isn't.
(13:51):
So when Check comes instead of screening for Wallace on
this play, you have Kobe and o'congo on Wallace, Check
runs to the rim and gets an easy layup. Okay,
and I'm putting I'm putting this down because this wasn't
even a real screen. He could uh okngrue double low
cultch it. Well he's not double low anymore. Well he's
(14:12):
still double low, just not the number anyway. He could
have backed off Chat and to disallow that all together
and just stayed with Check, but he didn't do that.
So watch this first shot, first quarter of the OKAC game,
if I can find it. I didn't have a queue
up here though, as.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Ethan Wallace, he's a starting line up. There a chin
algrin on the dive past night finished shows.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
The touch see Chat didn't even stop. He hesitated, but
that was he didn't stop. He didn't He didn't hinder
anybody's progress. There. You see what I'm saying, Stay with
your man. I'm gonna show it to you again.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
As Ethan Wallace, he's a starting line up. There a
chat algrin on the dime past finish.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Wallace was doing that one thing the whole time. If
Oh had just stayed with this man, all of a
sudden Wallace is in the air throwing a past at
somebody at the back of somebody's head. Might be a turnover,
but we'll never know because Oh never looked at anybody
except for Wallace. He just went to him as if
(15:23):
he got he got to stop Wallace. No, that ain't basketball.
And all of our bigs did that last year, Bruno,
Oh and Clint religiously. No matter what happened, they always
went to the ball handle. And we got to stop
that minute and again me, I'm staying with my man,
or we're doing a legit switch. We're not gonna leave
(15:46):
a guy open. And here's the thing about the switch.
If you switch and the switcher happens to be a
smaller guy than the big guess what if they don't
take it immediately. The immediate advantage of that we can
switch back, We can double. We don't just let stuff happen.
So that's not what teams are supposed to be. You're
supposed to be a team, right, So anyway, that's the
(16:08):
first shot, two points, second shot again, assignments. Let me
pull it up real quick. So you don't forget these things.
Where is it that over helping? Stay with your assignment? Okay,
So if something happens when you're not on your man
(16:28):
for whatever reason, you have to call it out. Hey
pick up my man. It happened to me last night.
I had missed a shot. I was on it, I
was down here, and my man broke. I said, hey,
pick up my man. And then when my team says
I got him, you get mine. See that's communication because
see now I know I gotta go pick up the
(16:48):
point guard now because my center has gotten ahead of
me because I had just missed a shot. You see
what I'm saying. That's what's supposed to happen. That's not
what happens when the Hawks at all. So if you
don't call out your defenses. Here's a deflection. You have
Dison and Roddy going after the ball. When Wallace gets it,
(17:11):
Dicing is on him, Roddy doesn't know what to do.
For some reason. Okay, he doesn't know whether or not
he's going to double or get back on man bit
also doesn't know what to do. He should get checked
because oh has taken on Sga. Okay, at a point,
you got three people in the paint for the Hawks
(17:33):
for some reason. Check, he's just gliding back up to
the three point line. Wallace passes a Check, who fakes
a three, then drives around Roddy, who finally comes up
to guard somebody in the case. Then he hits another jumper.
I called this bucket on the whole team for not
calling out the defense. Nobody said nothing, nobody ever, nobody
(17:54):
ever communicates watch just for his growth and development.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Now go winging the year number two, having that great
Bookie campaign, alkrit ut off the three point line? Why
is it just stet Then take that all boat jumper
and smoothly knock it down.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
That's not defense, people, Roddy is out there in no
man's land. That's not defense. That's not even cool. This
can't be cool for anybody. And that's my point on
showing these videos is because until you get to the
depth of why the defense is so bad, is that's
(18:29):
when you should what you should be mad about. Okay,
it's a teen thing and it's being non taught from
the bench. Because we had anybody responsible, these things couldn't
continue to happen. Shot three, first quarter again, you got
to play through the whole possession at first. On this one,
VI and Kobe correctly switch on Williams and Wallace. They
(18:53):
do the right thing. VI now has Wallace, but for
some reason he then't lets him go. Also had lost
his man mysteriously. Okay, and and his man glides over
to the corner three while it's dips behind, Dyson gets
a pass lays it up. I'm giving this a dic
in because in the n either or he would have
(19:17):
given up the three the sea as well if they
had passed it to him. Watch what I'm talking about, going.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Into a second four years and the season is twenty
twenty three, and jump the pass underneath there is Keason
Walls camped out just inside the block.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
See what happened there. You see what S. S e
A did Because the league knows that we're not gonna talk,
so all the coaches in the in the league say, hey,
if you just keep moving, they're not gonna stay with
you because they don't know how to stay on assignment,
so you are we will have at least three people
open all the time because we're just gonna crash down
to the paint like we're doing something like that's defense,
(19:55):
like we play for ten defense. We show activities that
look defensive that are not just the old team though,
and again some of the players can mitigate this a
little bit because the size and seat speeds and all
this kind of stuff, but the tenets of it is
(20:15):
bad and that's why we lose games. All right. Let
me show you watch SGA going into.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
A second four years and season is twenty twenty three.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
He leftpan, Dyson left his man. There's two people that
failed right there. See if that had happened last night,
somebody would nobody would pay for the next game? Easy,
(20:49):
You see what I'm saying. It's easy to fix stuff
when you play pickup ball every night, right, But in
the NBA it's not as easy. But it should be.
It should be. Coach says, come here, sit, sit. People
aren't doing stuff because again, if the coaches are saying
stuff and the players doing it, well, who's in control?
(21:10):
Do you want to win games? Because that's not winning basketball, folks.
That's all I'm saying. Can't win like that poor shot
first quarter. Check is bringing up the ball, Dyson is
pointing to Williams, pointing who is coming up the floor. Now,
who's a sign to Williams? Dyson recognizes it, But who's
(21:32):
a sign to him? Is it Roddy? Is it? Dison?
Check drives oh stops him. Dyson leans in to try
to help. Roddy is the only one not on anybody.
So when Williams comes, Check passes over the top, Williams
gets a layup, I want to give it to Roddy,
(21:52):
but I'm probably gonna give this one the check because again,
there ain't no health defense. At a certain point when
your teammate, if they get beat for whatever reason, that
got to be a helper. We got to defend that.
You can't just let it happen. And we let a
lot of stuff happen, especially in the paint. Poor shot
first quarter.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
The ability just deal to create for himself and rollin'
drop on it, Williams.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Player, Is that defense? Play it again? But y'all tell
me is that defense Dison sees Williams coming, Someone got
to take responsibility for that player. Calling out who has him?
Nobody did, and Williams has kept on coming. And when
certain players got engaged, Check just said, well, I'm just
(22:43):
dumping off to Williams caause ain't nobody picked him up?
And then Vince just stood there and let him lay
the ball up. Are y'all cool with that? And how
is any of that trades fought? By the way, because
y'all blame Trey on everything, how is that his fault?
He ain't on the floor. Twenty eight games? Trade did
and play and this is the stuff that was happening
every dog all night. I showed it to y'all, and
(23:06):
some of y'all still won't acknowledge that. We'll play it again.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
The ability if you're to create for himself especial off
of pick and roll seem drop one ed Williams.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Player and got the doctor.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Make it the mind and the Hawk players are staring
at each other, like what happened? What? How did that happen?
I just showed y'all happened? Nobody talked? Nobody wants to
be responsible for their assignments. Shot five, first quarter, Check drives,
Oh stops him again, but again screen comes. Oh decides
(23:46):
to follow the ball handler rather than staying with this man,
and instead of players just switching or fighting through a screen.
These things can be negated by those just again basic
tenets of basketball. Every gain every game. Kobe switch though, however,
at the end and provide some help defense, but he
just simply can't stop check fish shot.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
To get better, look for the opportunities for them to
grow through it at thirty approach.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Thee now is that Kobe's inability to play defense based
off of him not being able to stop somebody with
an eight foot wingspan. He at least put in the effort,
and a lot of times the effort is there with
certain other players. You'll want to acknowledge that on the
basis of the players, it's taller. Again, when I get
(24:39):
into the post, unless you straight found me, mug me,
you're not stopping me. I get the ball in the post,
which is why I always have two people on me.
I got somebody front me and I got somebody in
back of me. Almost every time I get in the post,
I'm getting got another cut right here for no reason.
My back hurts because you know, because I'm the biggest
(25:02):
and taulast got on the floor most of the time
six shot. Again, our bigs have not been taught the
right way. The rest of the team has not been
taught to talk. Let people know what's going on. Chris left,
Chris right. That's what people are doing for me. That
means I know I got a screen coming from here
(25:22):
or a screen coming from there. I can make a
determination per my peripheral vision and not turning my whole
back to somebody. What I'm gonna do. Am I staying
with my man or we switching? Or my fighting through
the screen. Who's this person? I can fight through that screen.
He's a little flow person. Here comes Jergernaut three hundred
and thirty pounds offensive lineman. I may have to go
(25:42):
around that moon coming like the death start right. But
you can make determinations on what to do or switch. Hey,
I got your man, keep going with it. Hawks don't
do that. Hawks never do it is sick shot. You
(26:04):
have to also play through the entire possession. And here's why.
Let me show you.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Lend up of the leaky defensively of the last couple
of years, Homer having all kinds of opportunities, no true
center in the game for Atlanta, the kickout SG ain't spotted.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Up and clean.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
You gotta stay with your man, So you can't just
stop because you think you stop somebody else. You still
gotta go. If the shot clock's still going, they still
got an opportunity to make a bucket, don't they. And
why don't you stay with your man. I'm gonna play
that one more time. Watch s g A through this
entire possession.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Lend up the leaky defensively of the last couple of years.
Homer having all kinds of opportunities, no true center in
the game for Atlanta. The kick out, she ain't spot
it up and clean.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Did you see bit screened himself there? He hindered his
own perpetual motion there. Nobody did that to him. He
did that. That's not defense, that's fake defense. And again,
because nobody talks ASGA just sits there in the corner.
That's all teams do against us. That's how you hit
seventeen eighteen, twenty three threes against the Atlanta Hawks. You
(27:22):
just sit in the corner because nobody's going to run
to you until it's too late. That's not defense, folks.
And for some of y'all to continue to claim that's
defense and then claim that that's just how it is.
It's just a lot. How I know that because what
teams do to the Atlanta Hawks. That's how I know that.
Six four six sixty five two four four seven nine.
(27:42):
If you want to call in and comment, give you
a little bit, and you can't comment on the comment section.
If you watch, I know some of y'all might be
at work. It's early in the back seven shots, all right, okay, see,
and you just heard the commentator say say it. They
don't have a true center on the floor, so Okac
is not playing a center. It's five on five. Stay
with your man. I want you to watch Vic again. Okay.
(28:04):
Dort drives Vit sees this and leaves Towardois the paint
even though Oh is there. Conglu is there. William slides
over and instead of vent just moving up and staying
with his man, he squeezes himself again. William gets a pass.
Williams gets a pass, and he hits another three. By
the way again, okay, see hit seventeen threes in this game.
(28:27):
I believe watch this.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
Those massive thumpers.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Alex Caruso has come in. Derek King, He's been feeling
it over the first few games.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Of the preseason, giving us the Al Horford clap. Let
me play this again. Watch Vic.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Those massive thumpers.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Alex Caruso has come in, Derek King, he's been feeling
it over the first few games of the preseason.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
There was no screen, There was no reason for him
to do what he did and to allow a while
to open.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Free like that.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
But he did, and it happens all the time. Remember
we lost this game one oh four to ninety nine.
It's unnecessary a shot first quarter, Williams dribble drives, step
back on vit. Okay, now, if you missed my last
review in the heat game, Vic gave up twenty five
points in that game by himself. Okay, it's a bad night,
(29:29):
bad night. But most of this is because he is
not good at defense. This is playing and simple. He
isn't okay, which is another reason he can't be the
back of the point guard. You don't need to have
those kind of minutes on the floor at all. But anyway,
where am I at. I'm gonna just I'm gonna just
let you watch this eighth shot first quarter.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
Come on, lost this kid. You bring me a bucket
over the halftime or shoup a ever whatever delicious life
right here, folks that pay come you come.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Here, You're gonna get the popp right sat depressing.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
The night shot Now again, this is where again I'm
proving that we are not being taught on defense, because
Garrison is about to show you something he does all
the time, and many hawks do all the time. They
just stand in the paint twenty feet away from their man.
It's like a religion or something. They can't be looking
(30:26):
at any tape. They can't be all right. So I'm
gonna show you this. His man is Carusoe. So Garrison's
back is to Carusoe, all right, Williams. Williams drives to
the bucket. Roddy is on him. There's no reason for
Garrison to come and help in this case unless he's
going to take a charge or foul him or do something.
(30:50):
Because in this case, what doesn't have no angle to
take no shot. Garrison wasn't about to block anything. So
why is he there? What is he doing? Since Garrison
has left his man, Russo comes all the way up
and gets a layup. Again, I'm giving this Garrison. I
could give it to Vic because he's right there and
he sees everything. And he clapped after the layup. I'm
(31:12):
giving this the Garrison for leaving his man. This is
a nice shot. First quarter.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Relief ju right across the baseline. What a cut there is,
Grusso Jato, but got some dives? Did I play that
points spot?
Speaker 2 (31:29):
We don't have no recognition of situations on the basketball court, guys.
It's not being trained. Bit was right there. He saw
what was occurring and did nothing to stop it. But
the worst part was Garrison leaving his man in the
first place, like he was gonna do something he didn't
need to do. That. You make the offense make a decision.
You don't let the offense dictate to you because they're
(31:54):
always going to have an advantage. Let me show it
to you one more time.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Relief hit us the baseline. What a cut, Theresa Jato,
but got some dives? Did I play that boys spot?
Speaker 2 (32:07):
The only reason that there was that cut because nobody
was on him and then vit did nothing either. There
was no health defense. We allowed buckets all the time.
Aren't y'all frustrated about this? Y'all want to be thirtieth
in points in the paint giving up this year, So
that's what Taysen test shot. First quarter, we got another
(32:29):
screen involving chet Oh follows the ball handler again and
I'm gonna give this a OH for cong group once again,
and there was no adjustments off the bench. This has
happened already a couple of times, and it happens again
and nobody does anything with it. Again. You're supposed to
have to trust the help defender in the paint. You
stay with your man, and what happens after that is
(32:51):
on whoever's in back of you. You gotta stay on
your man. That's your assignment. If you stop your man
from scoring, you give your team a chance. I don't
ever leave my man in a game unless we call
out a switch. Okay, I actually do get picked off,
let's say, but again, I get back on my man.
(33:13):
Within the possession, they're moving around passing the ball. Get
back on your man, and we get back on our guy.
And or again, if it's one of those situations where
my center that I was playing all of a sudden
is own the smallest guy on the court, I'm coming
over and doubling him. I'm not gonna let my the
center post felt my point guard. Does that make any
(33:37):
sense to y'all or y'all just don't care. I mean again,
I know some of y'all don't play basketball, but come on,
let me, let me play the ten shot.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
We just got to play baking skills. Switch over yet
again and over after shut that screen, it's finding some
space right around the free throw line of below.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Did you hear what the commentators it said, stop that.
We don't have to allow that, We don't ever have
to allow that, but we do, and we lose games
with the last shot first quarter. I'm gonna give this
one to Oh as well, I believe because he didn't
switch and left a wide open shot after Garrison was screened. Again,
(34:19):
you gotta call stuff out. It's your responsibility.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
See the pictures.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
As Mark Dagon likes to say, being able to.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
Make shot with my da Jones.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
But I mean sometimes it just is as if the
Hawks don't think anybody can shoot the ball. I swear
to God again, especially with Clint, I don't think he
thinks any censor in the NBA can hear the three.
Since he can't, Clint Capella has five three point attempts
in his whole career, so he thinks that nobody else
in the league who's the center can shoot, and so
(34:54):
he never comes out the paint to contest the three.
Makes sense, right, Second quarter, first shot, real easy on
this one, Kobe. I me mean Caruso drives on Kobe
on this.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
One so earlyer this season, Mike Jo, you're doing short
of these things with their players like Caruso.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
You got to reach it bout for Bumpkin. They just
powered its way into that an one, got it easy.
Second shot, second quarter.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Short on the drive again the starbd tvate got to
the coumpant stars nightlike done.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
That was on this third shot again? What is Garrison
doing again? This is fake defense. It's nonexistent. It's not defense.
He left his man, which was Williams in this case. Kobe,
not knowing Garrison was going to leave his man, mysteriously
(35:56):
is forced to try to pick up Williams even though
he's at bad angle. But he got to try to
do it now. Vin has dor it. Okay, who's walking
under the basketball the way Vic comes to contest? Okay,
I don't I can't remember who whose number double ow
is right now, but anyway, he's there, but nobody jumps
(36:18):
to contest the shot. Again. We don't contest shots. That's
why we're twenty six in block shots. Again though this
is on garrison, because if you just stay with your man,
all this other stuff don't happen. Because every time you
leave your man, that's what creates mismatches for the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks don't get targeted. We just don't stay with
(36:39):
our assignments. And the NBA knows that and they attack
that because they know we have no discipline at all.
It happened all last year. I showed you. I showed
you hours of game foota proving this to y'all. Okay,
third shot, second cord. Here we go.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
The offensive rebent instead of with Jones under like the
push quickly?
Speaker 5 (37:00):
All in Shary, don't got.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
A baby's shot by jump?
Speaker 2 (37:04):
You got three people there and they all just look.
Ain't nobody can pull hank. We'll play it again.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
Couldn't corround the offensive rebound instead of with Jones n
they're like the push late quickly, all in Jarrey, don't
little baby on what's shot by k jup?
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Nobody knows who pick up anybody on fast break? As usual? Right,
But then you get down to okay, well, now what defend?
Try to save somebody, wrap them up, kick them in
the paints, do something something. We don't do anything. We
just let stuff happen. Foreshot. Oh, by the way, sometimes
(37:44):
you don't have a lot of points in the paint
because they're hitting all the outside shots. Because when you
can give up a lot of points in the paint
this game. But that don't mean it's a good thing
or we played any defense. This is that we gave
up a whole bunch of jumpers. Four shots, quarter fast
break again, assignments, assignments. Somebody chooses to go to the
(38:09):
paint instead of staying with number three of OKC Sga
drives and passes it to a wide open player again
for another three point shot. Fourth shot, tekeon quarter.
Speaker 5 (38:22):
Shake, come over to fuss up that blade?
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Shake Chuck got that pass off the time by Conther
up for ser this time of Jones.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
Why is number three wide open like that? Anybody wants
to give me a gander of the guests to play
it again?
Speaker 5 (38:40):
Shake, come over to fuss up that blade?
Speaker 3 (38:44):
Shake Chuck got that pass off the time by conther uper.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
This time of Jones.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
I know double low number number double low ain't gonna
be on the team and everything, But did you see
what he did? He glided to the paint to his man,
but to the paint. Are they being told to do that?
So that's what Garrison did at that time he comes down,
he the stands on the paint the same spot. A
whole bunch of players do it on our team. Number
(39:15):
three was wide freaking open people. That's not defense. Six
four six four seven nine. Nobody's calling in wonder what
oh y'all can't be at work? Let me stop this Monday,
ain't it? Fifth shot, second quarter, Williams drives on Roddy
for a layup. Pretty easy. Now here's the deal, though,
(39:35):
Mohammad Gay is the big and he didn't contest at all.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Who comes over for the Pelicans and Daniels Larry Dans Junior,
Oh want to drive?
Speaker 5 (39:47):
That is a pretty big.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Girl from Jajol. He got got in the lane.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
Now, before I played this again, noticed that Muhammed Gay
Kumo g wasn't on check. But he's in paint. Though
since he's there, he needs to contest the shot coming
in and what did he do? This kind of thing?
And there I couldn't get away with none of this
on the court guys, I would never get picked up.
(40:13):
I've been playing basketball for forty plus years and the
reason I get picked up is because people know that
I wouldn't let that happen again. I'm gonna use it again,
will Smith, and I am legend I'm not gonna let
that happen. I'm blocking it. I'm contesting the shot, or
I'm fouling you. If you hit the shot over me
(40:36):
over those three instances, great, you made a good shot.
He used the bullet. That good shot. Man. Now I'm
coming down the court and I'm dunkling. In my younger days,
I would now, I'll just hit a spot up three
in you in your face, in your face, right. But
what do we do on our side? We just let
you shoot. We just let you hit the basket every
(40:56):
single time. Fifth shot, No six shots. I'll just play
this one easy.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Sah to the base line, seven six of the shot clock.
Jig kill. Just Alexander from the corner for three.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
That's one of those things. I think he did a
good job. Dyson was there, like I just said, you
have learned to move on because that's you know, that's
that's ga he that's straight up on you still a three,
though he hit seventeen of them. Don't want to foul him.
Hitting the three give him a four point player. But
you know, seven shot Dork drives, Dyson cuts him off.
(41:40):
Bit loses his man. He doesn't care. No, biggie, I think,
oh number double low. Here is his back on check? No,
this is actually okngru. Here is his back on check.
Vitch sees he's out of you know, Vin Spince, he
is out of place. I should say the thigh. He's
(42:00):
gonna help Dyson career sale is now open. So oh,
Seeing that Bit has left his man, goes to defend
the past, which means Check is now gonna die to
the b basketball or dunk again Ben. If he just
stayed with his man, none of this is possible. They
gotta do something different. Stay with your assignment and stop
(42:22):
being lazy. Why is this so difficult to understand? These
points are preventable, and they cost you games. It cost
us many games last year. The Hawks lost twenty one
games by seven points? Are left last year? I showed
you three of those suckers in the eight games that
I showed y'all last year. You need to watch that
(42:43):
on around the HL on the IMT and Worldwide Radio,
page six four six six two four four seventy nine.
As I show y'all the seventh shots of the second quarter,
one it actually, these aren't excellent cuts. They're being allowed.
(43:10):
This stuff is preventable. I'm gonna keep showing it. That
was the last shot of the second quarter that they hit.
By the That was the last shot of the second quarter.
By the way, they didn't take a lot of shots
at quarter. Well, they didn't make a lot of shots,
by the way. I'm only showing you the shots they hit,
not all of the shots from the other team, just
(43:31):
the shots that they made. There was a whole bunch
of shots. It's just the shots that they made. Okay, Again,
the field goal percentages of both of these teams in
this game were very low. It wasn't good third quarter
first shot. Now I keep you know. Some people say, well,
you know, Chris, it's easier said than done man to
(43:52):
play defense in the NBA, and to play these really
good players and all that. As bull, sorry his bull
his effort. Defense is part effort, but then also part knowledge.
And we don't have the knowledge. We have not been
in part of enough knowledge of locking out and how
to do it getting back on defense, the why of
(44:13):
it stopping the ball on the fast break, the why
of it rotating to the open man, and the why
of it contesting all shots, and the why of it
switching fighting through a screen. We don't do any of
these things. It's not important. It is not important because
if it was, we would see changes on the court
(44:34):
in real time. We would not continually see the same
stuff over and over again. I've proved it by hours
of game films. I show y'all here on a round
the ATL on IMC and worldwide radio on YouTube. So
where am I at? Second? Is that the first shot? No,
this is a first shot? Third quarter? So Wallace is
bringing the ball up, Kobe has him, He passes to
(44:55):
number three, and Dyson has him. Number three passes it
right back the wall who turns and sets a pick
on Dyson. All Kobe has to do is switch to
not allow an open man. Dyson is engaged number three.
Kobe doesn't for Wallace. So what does Wallace do? Let
(45:17):
me show you.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
Yeah, that ball movement was on display. Michael in the
first half saw those, particularly early in the first quarter.
Keathon Wallace wasting no time to a Lisia three straight
away top of the key.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
What did the commentators say, wasting no time to Alesia three.
You wouldn't have had the time if Kobe already had
been there. That was That was the first shot of
the third quarter. Second shot again, fake defense. I'm gonna
show fifty effort just to show that I'm doing something
because I'm on the court, so nobody can cuss me
(45:53):
out that I wasn't trying. That's not defense, y'all. So
look at Vin the inbounds pass on this Okay has
his hand up like he's, you know, trying to block
the shot. I guess you know, the shot that doesn't exist.
He's our position. We're lucky that number twenty one didn't
(46:14):
dive to the basket. Meanwhile, Roddy is taking forever to
get up the court. He's not even in the picture yet.
Wallace gets the ball, dribbles, steps back, and he already
knows what's about to happen. Bam mi sholl, y'all, second shot,
third quarter.
Speaker 3 (46:30):
We all know he can use that.
Speaker 5 (46:31):
Big body Roddy for the Hawks, y'all.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Straight away, right, y'allavill on that three?
Speaker 2 (46:42):
We make teams better. Three point shooters and the other
teams know, Hey, y'all playing the Hawks. Oh yeah, y'all
can hear about eighteen threes on them. Y'all playing the Hawks?
Oh man, y'all can hit like twenty threes on them.
Y'all playing the Hawks? Again, there was three games at
the end of last season, and play none of them.
Keep saying that because that's what y'all don't like to hear.
(47:04):
Y'all blame trade for everything. But what about the games
he didn't play? The Atlanta Hawks gave up eighteen to
three pointers onety three to three pointers and eighteen to
three pointers in three straight games. So hot did win
any of those games? Guys? Isn't that a little bit up?
Third and almost all of them were wilde open, non
contested threes too. It's discussing, and they happened just like
(47:27):
that right there. Third shot third quarter reminder. Usually, if
a player turns the ball over and it's like a
one on none fast break, I usually give those points
to the player that turned it over. But if we're
able to defend that shot, then it's a matter of well,
who gave up the shot for trying to defend it?
At that point, because That's what you're supposed to do,
is try to stop a mistake. That's what most other
(47:49):
teams do, right, remember Matumbo, rest in peace. You're racist mistakes, Right,
this is the ball. Garrison goes to his special place
on the floor to not play his man. Wallace brings
a ball up, passes number three, number three, passes number
twenty one for a dump. But Garrison is our position. Again,
(48:14):
Nobody says nothing to pick up man. As always, this
is a third shot, third quarters.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
Go all the way up. Might have been a block
there by Jones will at that game he was asking,
oh God, that is a line coming your way.
Speaker 2 (48:33):
Jones. That's not defense. Kobe, you got Wallace, Garrison, you
got Williams. That defense because now you're putting a name
on a person. And if you don't know the name Kobe,
(48:57):
you got number twenty one, co Garrison, you got nom
at thirteen. This is never defense. That's not defense. Baseball
times maybe right. If you're playing volleyball, serve it this way,
(49:21):
serve it that way. But in basketball it's fluid. If
people are coming down to court, I needn't know who
has whoo. We don't even stop the ball though, coming
four shot, third quarter off of another inbounds, PA, I'm
gonna just play this one. I don't even talk about this.
Speaker 5 (49:44):
He's got a gamesho he's got a nice all around
games just for rookie coachs. You see.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
So far y'all kidding me, right, that's almost and that's
definitely impossible when we play basketball. Nobody can ever do that.
And we're playing anyway. Fist shot, here's a turnover, fast break. Uh,
I'll just play this one.
Speaker 5 (50:10):
Everybody ship it in on that.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Coast.
Speaker 5 (50:13):
Await that time by the John's picking up that loose change.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
Six shot, third chorse. So Kobe has a number of eleven.
Kobe turns his head and never sees his man again.
Just let him go. Okay, Kobe goes to the paint.
Not really sure why, but he's not guarding anybody again.
Stay with your man. Whatever happens in back of you again.
You gotta be like a cornerback. This is your guy.
(50:46):
Whatever happens on the other guys on the field, don't
worry about them. You gotta stop your guy from catching pass.
Like in the NFL, right as a cornerback, So in basketball,
you got to stop your guy from either getting the ball,
or if he gets the ball, he can't score, but
let's make sure he doesn't get the ball. You gotta
trust your other four guys to do their jobs individually.
(51:09):
And then if it comes up to where now your
guy's about to set a screen, or your guy has
gotten the past or whatever, and maybe you have to
switch or whatever. Again, that's all talking. But your job
is whoever you're assigned to through a possession, that's your job.
To continue to release yourself from doing your job. Is
pissed for a start. I'm sorry whoever sees this, who
(51:32):
might be an Atlanta Hawk player, but Jo'll gone out.
I just need people to just do that job to
getting paid twenty five million dollars a year. If you
could do that job, we would win games because the
way we've been doing it has lost a lot of
ball games. The whole Atlanta Hawks team was bad at
defense last year. Our top starters were all defensive rating
(51:55):
wise between one fourteen and one nineteen. Tray and DJ
were one nineteen, Hunter was one seventeen, almost one eighteen himself. Uh,
the blood first is going up. So is this a
(52:18):
six shot? Yes? Six shots? So again Kobe has turned
his head doesn't know where his man is. Again. How
many threes that they hit the okay, see hit this
game seventeen? How many of them were uncontested? Too many?
(52:38):
Six shot third quarter.
Speaker 3 (52:41):
He's gonna have a little bit of time, Okay, she's
gonna take advantage, and he just cannot.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Leave my dad, Joe, that white light.
Speaker 3 (52:48):
There's another quave looking speak.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
I get some of the good stuff. Right. You can't
leave a man like Isaiah. You're a wide open. There's
thirty there. We'll play it again. Watch Kobe. He's gonna
have a little bit of time.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
Okay, she's gonna take advantage.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
And he just cannot lean my dad yo.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
That white ark right, there's.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Another queen looking repeat, no excuse me that people now again.
If we play and I'm gonna talk about this, if
we're playing Kobe, Bogie Hunter, Larry Nance Junior, and Clint
as a group off the bench, okay, and you got
(53:39):
Trey Dyson, z R, JJ and O as your starters,
some of this is gonna be mitigated, okay, And I'll
talk about that a little bit later. But still the
principles of it is still gonna be an issue for me.
If we don't slow some of this nonsense down because
it's nonsense what we do on defense seven shot third
(54:00):
or Keaton Wallace was on, Joe, doesn't stay with this man.
You know what happens when you don't stay with your man.
Let me show it. Let me show you again, up
and off.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
Second thought, the brothers have been matched out the board.
Here sat the way, guys saying Joe and win it
down for the fun to get it over the eye?
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Is there, Joe? How many times is I jaah? Joe
gonna hear the three in this game? You can go
look at the stats for yourself wide open. What't it?
Aren't you all tired of this again? How could the
same thing keep happening over and over again? If anybody
on the bench don't they got those little Microsoft pass
or something like that. Are they watching this touf like
(54:43):
in real time and going back and being like, Hume,
we gave up seventeen threes in this game, Like, are
they doing it at the end of the game. Are
they doing that in the locker room? Are they doing
it pre game up the next game and saying, guys,
we gave up seventeen threes in this game. Guys, we
gave up six see two points in the paint in
this game, guys, we gave up sixty four points in
(55:04):
the paint. And this is pre season guys. Gods, God,
we gave up thirty six past great points. Like we're
not looking at the tapes. We couldn't be Ain't nobody
teaching anything. It ain't nobody called nobody out. It ain't
happening because it keeps happening. A shot third quarter, this
(55:24):
is fad. At the start of this play Hawks, the
number two, the number two player of the Hawks isn't
playing anybody as per usual, nobody plays anybody. Mohamma Gay
doesn't have his man for some reason. So when number
eleven of OKC drives, number two is there only because
he ain't supposed to be there, and it creates mismatches
and because nobody talks already knows about to happen.
Speaker 3 (55:54):
Open Jay probably out ninety got ant three about a
three point shooter.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
See at this point, if this ain't happened, like in
a game I'm playing, whoever was the captain of the
team that like picked me? Would be like looking over
the side of the court, had you want to play, hey,
come on in for him. It's drastic when we play
because at a certain point, you can't even be trying
(56:23):
all these threes. What open You can't even be trying.
You must be hurt, You must have COVID, something's wrong
with you. See, there's instant activity to fix an issue
when you're out on the court and street courts and stuff.
Although I mean we played in the court. Some of
y'all have seen the pictures of it. They refinished. The
(56:45):
court looks really nice now and again, if it was
me doing all this, I definitely wouldn't get picked up anymore.
I almost never ask for down because I know there's
a ninety eight percent chance I'm gonna get picked up
unless I say, hey, I can't play this game. Let's
be tired. Okay. I actually declined, Like Sunday night, you
(57:07):
lost the first game by one point. I was huffing,
hi fucking because I hadn't played for three weeks. So
they were like, hey, Christy, you wanna play. I'm like, no,
just out well, otherwise I would have played straight through
the night. Some of our games last full thirty minutes
sometimes okay, sometimes closer to forty eight minutes, just giving
(57:27):
you all the hint. I'm out there playing against guys
who are twenty years younger than me. I give the
effort to say, no, you ain't about to shoot this
wide open three. I'm rotating. Oh, you ain't about to
just cutting in the lane and think you're gonna just
lay this ball up easy. Because I'm a basketball player,
I got pride. You gotta have pride to play defense.
You gotta have pride to stay with your man. There's
(57:50):
some pride in there too, not just skill and no
ability and knowledge of what to do, but pride in
the Hawks don't have no pride on defense, ya. I'm
just trying to tell you, next shot, third quarter, another turnover,
I'm gonna just play it.
Speaker 5 (58:08):
I say, draft class.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
JA gets the gottes Balk dropped over to Roddy. I
see you trying to create the advantage, Isaiah Jones.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Or you just don't get with my dad.
Speaker 3 (58:20):
But that's got me late.
Speaker 2 (58:24):
At least there was a contest at the end right
ray of hope. Fourth quarter, last quarter, My gosh, all right,
first shot? Fourth quarter? Where am I at here? Okay,
here we go, and again you can call in a
few more minutes six four sixty sixty five two four
four seven nine er. You can comment if you're at work,
you can't get on the phone. First shot, fourth quarter. Again,
(58:45):
this is infuriating if you can't tell by now Number
two is quarantine about someone picking up his man, not
calling it out, but just number twenty five just running
free out there, walks through. Now number two could have
just picked him up and he didn't. Y'all know what's
(59:07):
about to happen.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
Player movement, A lot of things that are happening.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
Now. The next shot is actually one I can't show
you because something on in NBA dot com and shout
out to NBA dot Com. I forgot to do that
at the beginning. Sometimes on their website a particular play
doesn't I don't know, getting the system somehow. So on
this one, the second shot of the fourth quarter is
(59:44):
another three pointer that was hit. Okay, so I just
give those three points to the whole team because I
don't know who gave it up. But Mitchell hits a
three third shot third quarter, though, we can show you.
So Number twenty five drives in on Wallace and he
scores again. Third shot last quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
To put his body anywhere on the floor. There's a choist.
It's a host of front charge seeker.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Now again on the surface, be like here, you know
good moves one on one and everything, But where the
hell do we not care a all a teammates fourth shot. Again,
All we gotta do is switch. All we gotta do
is switch. If we just switched, we wouldn't give up
seventeen to threes in the game. But we can't switch.
That's the only explanation we're not allowed to switch. Maybe
(01:00:35):
the coaching stava is telling us stay on your don't switch.
Like again, it doesn't matter of their situational instances in
a ballgame. Where like I've been saying, you stay on
your assignment, but when there's a need to switch, you
gotta switch. When I talk about stay on your assignment,
I'm talking about don't release your man and just be
standing there while your man is going on the other
(01:00:58):
side the freaking of course, telling anybody that you lost
your man. Again, you can make a mistake. Be like,
oh day, where are my man? Hey, pick up man?
That's so easy to do. Pick up man, I just
got butched. Pick up man. I lost my guy, my
shoe fell off, pick up my man. My acl tour
(01:01:21):
pick up, my man. We don't do that. We under
any under no circumstances do. The Atlanta Hawks speak on defense,
and y'all don't understand how bad that is. In the NBA.
Fourth shot, last quarter, this guy's like got a black nerd.
Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
My stupid shitt. Pray for the outshot.
Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Fifth shot. Nobody blocks out twenty five, drives to the basket,
misses it, somebody puts it back in again. If you're
the big what are you doing? Fifth shot, last quarter?
Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
Y step pretty boo.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
The gym, y'all cool with everybody's just standing there just
watching things happen. Are y'all really cool with that? I
need some way to tell me why are you cool
with this? Because this happens every game. This happens every game.
It happens every game. It happens every game, doesn't matter
who's on the court, doesn't matter who's on the roster.
(01:02:35):
It's a Hawks thing. We don't block out, we don't
contest shots. We just let stuff go in. We watched,
we will watch the ball go in the hoop. I've
shown you hours of footage showing this, y'all. It's not cool.
Six shots, last quarter, number twenty five drives to the
(01:02:55):
basket again on two people. Now Kobe does come to help,
and you know number twenty five hits the shot, but he.
Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
Had a cow stand of barber.
Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
Looks at that off the glasses just to go to
the bomb on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
Yeah, I can't really be mad at that Kobe did
prior to the defender. He did the shot again, give
him the brother. That was two points, but he contended
at least at least he at least he did it
seven shot Number twenty five drives again.
Speaker 5 (01:03:35):
I mean he is always standing out there and coaching directing.
Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
The high schools at the time.
Speaker 5 (01:03:44):
Staked down from Hawks.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Now, let me let me play that clip only because
I want to show you all something. It's just number seven.
I mean, he is.
Speaker 5 (01:03:51):
Always standing out there and coaching directing.
Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
High schools at times.
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
Fake alcohlm Halms.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
Did you see it's a three point game before that
shot goes in? So this is still a winnful game,
right again, the Hawks lost this game one four. There's
a note to that, all right. So in this last
shot of the fourth quarter, this is the last shot
that the OKC thunder hit after that was just free throws. Okay,
(01:04:23):
but Kobe has number fourteen, and Okay sees in the
process of running a weed basically, you know, gold try
to style a little bit, do right. So anyway, Kobe
leaves his man. Nobody says nothing off of the drive. Okay.
By twenty five, number fourteen simply walks into the lane,
(01:04:46):
gets the pass, lays it up. Watch still game.
Speaker 5 (01:04:57):
Yeah, Houston rockets.
Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Blackler beauty for Mitchell.
Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Tell me how I'm that's acceptable. There's there's no way
that could be a cool thing for all of y'all
or some of y'all or three thirds of y'all. Is
that numbers two thirds of y'all? To be ad, that's
this basketball when it happens to us all the time. Again,
(01:05:29):
the Atlanta Hawks were twenty fifth in points in the
paint given up, We were twenty six in block shots,
we were twenty eighth and fast break points given up,
and we gave up fourteen or more threes of game
while losing twenty one games by seven points or less. Please,
someone explain to me how all of that is cool
(01:05:51):
and how one person is responsible for all of it,
Because again I've shown y'all, look that heat games. I've
shown y'all before this game, I believe was the first
game out of eight nine, ten out of ten games
where someone actually purposely attacked Tray a switch to be
(01:06:19):
on Trey Young. It was Jimmy Butler. It's not happening
like y'all think it is. Trey Young is not the
reason that we got all these mismatches out here. Trey
Young is not the reason for him being targeted by
the whole NBA again. Joe l Embi is not actually
for screen to get on trade Joker Prizingish. Those guys
aren't doing it, Haydom, He don't need to do it.
(01:06:41):
Brown don't need to do it. Who are the guys
who are actually guarding those guys? Again? The Atlanta Hawks
gave up thirty points a game to shooting guards last year.
The Atlanta Hawk gave up twenty seven a game to
small forwards last year. Who was guarding those guys? Because again,
one player can't give up an getting fifty seven points
in a game. One player can't give up one hundred
(01:07:03):
and thirty one points in the game. It is mathematically
impossible unless one player is playing against ten because it's
ten eleven players on the opposite side. Who gets playing time? Right,
So if y'all to show me footage of Trey Young
by himself playing one on five and one on five
against the bench and one on three against any reserves
(01:07:24):
because somebody gets hurt. Now we can talk until you
can show me that. What about everybody else on the court?
Why are they doing their jobs to the utmost of
their ability? Again, Trey Young is never going to be
the best defender, but he ain't the worst on our team.
He just isn't per the number of points it gives
up a game. Trey Yung ain't giving up thirty points
(01:07:46):
a game. Guys, he just isn't it. You can't prove it.
You see what I'm saying. We gave up fifty points
of Malachi Flynn. Trey Young was not playing. How you
explain that one? Nobody wants to because nobody wants to
admit it. I told you the game, though, I showed
you how Malachai Flinn hit off his shots. In this game,
(01:08:11):
o'cango gave up six points. Remember I did give the
team five points. Dyson gave up five points. Bit eleven,
Kobe nineteen, Roddy ten, Garrison six, Wallace ten, Gay seven
and whoever number double zero was gave up six. I
think I'm missing a couple of points in there, because
when I added up the free throws, I'm a couple
(01:08:32):
of points off. But it's pretty close. How you gotta
just look at the tape, though the tape don't lie.
We're bad at getting back on fast breaks. We're bad
at communicating on defense, we're bad at blocking out. We're
bad at knowing when the switch when not to switch,
and fighting through screens. We're terrible at rotating to the
(01:08:55):
open man. And we can test no shots. Now again,
we could always say, oh, that other team had a
really good game, But how do all the players have
good games? Is that supposed to be cool? Well, Bucket's
giving up and how they're given up is a problem
(01:09:16):
for me, and it should be a problem for y'all,
and it really should be a problem for the Atlanta
Hallks coaching staff. But for whatever reason, it is not
because it's not being addressed. And the only way you know,
and the way I should say, the way you know
it's not being addressed because it's not being affected on
the court. We should see a precipitous change from one
(01:09:39):
year to another in the basics of defensive basketball, and
we do not. The numbers tell you that we don't.
Before I started doing these reviews, visually, I used to
just come on Facebook Live or I would just go
on Twitter and just call it out. Here's what we
gave up points in the paint, Here's what we gave
(01:09:59):
up second chance, Here's what we gave up fast break points.
And here's the three point percentage we gave up. And
usually two of four of those, or two or three
of those things was the reason we lost the game.
Sometimes it's all of them. Pathetically, that being said, this
is a preseason. Preseason doesn't count per the record, but
(01:10:22):
it does still count. I don't want this to continue
to bleed to the regular season, which is upon us now. Right.
So again, maybe the players that we have can mitigate
some of this, depending on their usage and things of
that nature. And I believe some of it can be
dice In playing the majority of the minutes, because he
(01:10:42):
plays hard, he plays really good defense, and he can rebound,
he can block shots, he can contest, he can do
some of those things that we need at the two.
If he's playing the two of the other team, we're
gonna have not thirty points a game being given up.
I believe you got ZR in there. With his thigh,
his ability to move his feet, his ability to rebound
(01:11:03):
and contest hum shot, You're going to accidentally get some
blocked shots out of him. It is because of his wingspan.
So that's gonna help us a lot, because Hunter plays
no defense. Okay, JJ doing his thing being out there
and everything. Again, he got O out there, whether than
on pick and roll. He can guard you on the
drive because he can move his feet, and he can
(01:11:24):
play you in the post because he knows how to
play with leverage, and he blocked shots. Again. I did
a whole show on a Congoo show and why he
should be the starter, and I showed you all of
his a lot of him get eighteen twelve five blocks,
twenty eighteen seven whatever. He can do all those things.
Plus he can hear shot on the inside. He shoots
seventy three percent on the inside. Clint can't say that
(01:11:48):
Oh actually has moves on the inside. He has a
baby hook, he can finish on the inside. He can
hit eighty percent from the free throw line, which Clint
can't ever say. And Oa can hit a straight up
three either in the corner or straight up at the
top of the key. He's a threat, and we need
to be able to start playing five on five. We
were going to compete in the NBA, which you see
(01:12:10):
to my last thing today Kobe coming off the bench
as to bona Fide number two. Now, outside of what
you saw on the defensive side, we do know he
had thirty one points in this game. Right, he had
scroll backed up real quick, so I can be exact.
He hit for where is it at twelve to twenty
(01:12:37):
sixth from the floor. He did take a lot of
shots now, but again he was the primary guy out
there tonight, so he had a lot of time, but
he hit with a good percentage though he was seven
to fourteen from three. Yeah, for sins. Now, that shows
me if he was running the second unit, he could
what run the team, He could actually monetize the offense
(01:12:59):
to where we're keeping the lead that we got. If
we have a lead, right, if we're at a deficit,
maybe he can help the team come back and cure
that deficit or at least maintain where we're at and
or if we got a good lead, maybe even extend
the lead. Her Again, his personal ability to either score
(01:13:22):
or move the ball around. And again with having veterans
like Bogie and Hunter who are spot up shooters, right,
and then you got Larry Nats as the four who
can also hit a three, but also can rebound and
do all the other things. He could roll to the
basket as well. And then if you got Clint as
a veteran coming off the bench just concentrating on rebounds,
(01:13:45):
and those couple of lobs used to want to get
to him, hopefully he gets them in there. That's a
veteran group all of a sudden with a young guy
who is capable of doing the things he needs to
do to be on the floor all the time. That
makes us deeper than we ever have been since twenty
twenty as far as I'm concerned. That's one reason I
(01:14:08):
think Kobe should be coming off the bench now again
if we are going to oh well, let me let
me back up a little bit. The other reason that
Kobe needs to come off the bench and not be
the shooting guard is a little bit were I showed
you in this game. Again, we don't need to keep
(01:14:29):
being one of the smaller teams in the league. And
with Dison that the two against the other guards and
other wingings of the league. Instead of having Kobe out
there to diminish what we got is a bad thing.
The other thing is Dyson ain't a point in any
sense of the word. We don't need him coming off
(01:14:50):
the bench. We do need somebody who can legitimately run
the offense, and we haven't had that in the walk
as an actual number two. The closest we've had was
Jeremy Lynn and or lou Will. Lou Will, of course
was great. Jeremie Lynn, you know, was no no morelynsanity there, right,
(01:15:12):
But to make us continually small still doesn't work. Like
the reason that you've got other players around, you know,
like let's see New York and I'm actually about to
do this in the second New York they put guys
around him talking about Brunson, got Og out there, you
got Hard out there. You got other people who play
(01:15:33):
defense and all this kind of stuff, all the other
all the other teams over the decades, half people around
the people Steve Nash look at what his team was.
Think about that, like, like, think about that for a second.
Why won't the Hawks do that? Why haven't the Hawks
done that? Over the decades. That's that that should be
something to think about. So that's another reason that he
(01:15:57):
needs to be the back up again. With Dyson and
z R and JJ out there the majority of the minutes,
it makes us a force to be reckoned with athletic
wise and everything else that I've already said. Again, with
Bogie and Hunter as threats on offense spot up shooters,
Kobe can get the ball to some of the some
(01:16:18):
some really really talented scorers on our team. Okay, so
the defense out though, which is why again you make
you mitigate the defense that we give up as as
they are starters coming off the bench less minutes, there's
much much less points that Bobi will be able to
give up and much less points that Hunter will be
able to give up if they're not playing starter minutes anymore.
(01:16:40):
Plus Hunter can't get through a season anyway, so maybe
mitigating his minutes will keep him longer on the on
the floor for us. That's another reason again, if we
keep Clint like I said, and you're and you're using
him primarily as a rebound Clint, you get the rebound
(01:17:02):
pass it to your get the rebound pass it to
your guard, and then you try to get another rebound. Okay,
that's all he needs to do at this point in
his career if we keep them all right. Because he
can't do anything on offense, he should never be in
the fourth quarter ever again as a hat. If he
stays here, never, there's no reason for him to be
out there. He can't do anything to help the team win.
(01:17:22):
Is it about winning or not? Is it about winning
or looking good? It's about winning or again? Some people
are like, well, we gotta play Clint because he's making
all the money. Are we trying to win or not
make more money when you win a championship? Correct? So
that's why I say, look at the episodes I've shown
you up to now. Look at the Bulls Playing game.
(01:17:45):
Look at all the points that Clint gave up in
that game. And he couldn't mitigate that by evening it
out for his own production, even though he did have
twenty points in that game. Actually, all of our starters
in that Chicago game had twenty plus points, except for Hunter,
who had eight points two rebounds. But at a certain point,
giving up twenty nine points in the elimination game, it's
too much. It's too much. Gave up too many wide
(01:18:08):
open shots, and he gave up too many layups too much.
Puchivich had twenty four points in that game. Guys Kobe
White had forty two points and a lot of them
were layups, and Clint was there. Isn't that a concern
to anybody. I don't, I don't. I don't get that game.
I don't understand that. Injuries hurt us a lot last year,
but we still had people on the floor. Can't be
(01:18:29):
an excuse for everything. So that's why I said, go
back to the Pacers game. Go back through that Minnesota
Timberwolves game that we lost by three points and we
could have won. Look at the Charlotte Hornet's game that
we lost by one point, when we had a ninety
two to seventy seven league going into the fourth quarter.
We lost that game one to fifteen to one to fourteen.
Watch how we lost that game. The double overtime game
(01:18:51):
we lost to the Miami Heat Heismith, we shouldn't even win.
To do below over time, DJ got us to lead
by four, We gave up two threes in that first overtime.
I want you all to go and look and see
how that happened. To go to around the atl IMT
and worldwide radio on YouTube and watch around the atl
(01:19:14):
But the game is there, go watch it. Watch the
Denver game. You really will get pissed off watching that
Denver game. Sixty percent from the floor that we gave
up shooting. Go look at the fast break points we
gave up in that game too, besides the twenty three
threes that we gave up. Go look at the Dallas
Mavericks game. If training out there hindering people from playing defense,
(01:19:37):
explain Kyrie Irvin. Explain Luca hitting six for fifteen from
three pj doing what he did in that game. Explain
how those players will be able to be successful without
Trey out there. If Trey is the only reason we
lose games but he didn't play, We lost all those games. God,
we still had a chance to get home court for
(01:20:00):
the playing game and after that Detroit win, the last
game of the season that we won. We lost all
those games. We gave up one hundred and fifty seven
points to the Pacers. How did you look at that
game yet to actually see shots and shot how we
gave up all those points and who gave up the points?
(01:20:21):
One player can't give up one hundred and fifty seven
points in a forty eight minute regulation game. People, it's
not possible. So go look at that so again. Kobe,
I believe is the number two point guard for our
team going four. He's capable. He shows everything that you need.
(01:20:43):
Again in his case, he can mitigate any defensive lapses
because he can hit some shots. He could pass the ball. Again.
One of the things that Trey can do the equal
out any points that he gives up is that he's
He's responsible for forty five to fifty points every game
he plays twenty ten. It's not hard to see that passes.
(01:21:05):
He gets to bogie for threes, JJ dunks, Conglu Clint.
Everybody gets a little something if you hit your shot
because he passes it more. Look, he gets tennis as
a game. He passes a lot more than that, which
is why he got He has a lot of turnovers
sometimes obviously, Matthic Johnson averaged like almost five turnovers a
(01:21:29):
game for his career. Pass the ball a lot, and
the Hawks have never had a Russ like to show
Tom Lakers have think about that a little bit, which
is why stay Let's mitigate some of this by just
switching it up a little bit and having some of
these veterans off the bench, and now when these young
(01:21:49):
guys playing on the front end to try to match
up a little bit better, to try to contest a
little bit more. We we gotta do it at this
point because we can't do it like we did last year,
just the staggering thing. No, we need to let that
go because here's the deal. Here's a deal, and I
think let me break this down for y'all. The Celtics,
(01:22:13):
who's their backup point guard Peyton Pritchett twenty two minutes
a game, sixteen point six assists, shot forty eight percent
from the four to forty eight percent from three. It's
a still a game. That's a legitimate number two point guard.
Kobe can handle that, don't you think, Nick? They got
(01:22:35):
Tyler koleik Now in eighteen minutes in the preseason he
was averaging eleven points, four assists on forty eight percent
shooting as well, getting a still a game. Kobe needs
to be able to handle that. Bucks have the line right,
you know what Delon can do point defender, get hit
the shot when he needs to cash. I believe they're
(01:22:59):
gonna have Todd Juron between the Warriors and OKC, he
was getting between sixteen and twenty three minutes a game.
He was given seven to ten points a game, three
or fists. Magic got Corey Joseph veteran give you ten
points for assist a game depending on his minutes. Pacers
have freaking TJ McConnell. They got a backup point guard.
See all these teams have basket up point guards except
(01:23:20):
for the Hawks. Why is that their backup point guards
leads their number twos against the Hawks and we always
get beat. We gotta do something about that, guys this season.
And TJ always kills the Hawks. Philly has Kyle Lowry
enough said about him. Miami looks like it would probably
(01:23:44):
be Alec Burks. He's a veteran, gets you ten points
a game easy. You can handle the ball for the
Bulls now with ball back. I'm not sure he's not
gonna start initially, probably, but he will eventually. But you
got Kobe and Levine and Io, So who's gonna come
off the bench. I probably would say as Io. He
(01:24:05):
can give you twelve points, three assists easy as well
for the nets. Shake Milton pretty decent, give you seven
to thirteen points. A game, depending on the minutes. Toronto, Toronto.
I'm not really sure. I'll say Grady. I guess he'll
give you eight points a game. Off the bench Hornets,
excuse me, Charlotte Hornets with mellow back, I would say
(01:24:31):
Missic or Missic I think his name is. He'll give
you seven points four assists. He plays real well. Wizards.
I'm really not sure, but they do got Broaddon, so
they put him in there. That's his career, fifteen to
five players. So you come off the bench. You got
a solid point guard coming off the bench right there,
Histons if it's not Jada and Ivy, because maybe they'll
(01:24:54):
start him at the shooting guard. I would say, maybe
Marcus Fasser gives you eight points three assists. Solid guy,
Uh like Kobe can't equal Lord, see some of these guys,
or at least, you know, again, just even kill some
of these guys, mitigate them a little bit with his effort,
Like we gotta believe that that's possible. But these are
(01:25:18):
reasons why we don't need to stagger. We need to
have our legit number two personnel against all the other
number two personnels of the NBA. Okay for once, Okay, Seyson.
Don't need to be trying to handle the ball and
be in the point guard trying to run nothing. You
(01:25:39):
don't you don't need to, you don't need to do this.
We need to finally do what the teams have been
successful has been doing. All this experimentation crap and all
this we need to toss all that. But really, if
we just played any kind of Monico defense, we win
a championship. We're not We're not players enough to do that.
(01:26:02):
So again, go look at the footage of these games.
I've shown y'all the preseason games. Shot the shot that
these teams are hitting against us, and just keep asking yourself,
is this acceptable to you? And how do we blame
Trey on this? I want you to say that every
shot and go back through the eight games that I
showed the twenty twenty three season and do the same
thing the games that Tray did play in, and then
(01:26:23):
the games that Tray didn't play in, and still try
to blame him for every shot that these teams keep
making against us. That's why I actually broke down a
lot of the twenty eight games that he missed and
showed y'all, well, look at this team that beat us.
Look at the Portland Trail Blazer us. Why did they
beat us? Why does eight and a half thirty three
and Simons have thirty six? Why did the Phoenix Suns
beat us? Why the Nets beat us twice? Why the
(01:26:46):
Lakers killing us? Why is the Angelo di Angelo killing us?
For that matter? Like? Why? Why is this acceptable? Why
does Harrison Barnes have thirty two points against us? You
see what I'm saying. If trade is the reason that
nobody can play defense, whatever he's not there, do your job.
(01:27:06):
It doesn't matter who's on the court, do your job.
Everybody do their jobs. We could win some games. We
could really hurt people because scoring has never been an
issue for the Hawks. It's never been an issue for
the Hawks's never been an issue. Stopping people have and
nobody wants to blame the people giving up the points. People.
That's plural. I got, that's my ninety seconds. So let's
(01:27:31):
do this. Let me give me one second.
