Gli studiosi scrivono: "Creare spazio per l'agency dei bambini attraverso l'apprendimento ludico può supportare competenze basilari come l'autoregolazione e la motivazione interiore, che sono, a loro volta, associate a risultati di apprendimento positivi. La nozione di agency attraverso l'apprendimento ludico può essere utilizzata dagli educatori per personalizzare le opportunità di apprendimento attraverso una attenta progettazione dell’ambiente educativo e per difendere queste forme di pedagogia per tutti i bambini. Per via dell’importanza del gioco nella prima infanzia, rileviamo come i bambini piccoli possono sperimentare regolarmente l'agency nell'apprendimento. Sulla base della presente revisione teorica dei meccanismi psicologici sottostanti - autoregolazione e motivazione - alcune pratiche di qualità che sono comunemente utilizzate per supportare l'agency nell'apprendimento sono
- Creare un ambiente di apprendimento significativo e adatto all'età
- Stimolare l'interesse e la curiosità, e alternarsi nel seguire e guidare
- Supportare l'apprendimento, l'autoregolazione e la motivazione dei bambini con routine prevedibili e conversazioni approfondite per ampliare il loro pensiero
- Osservare i bambini e progettare le esperienze tenendo a mente l'agency.”
