(00:00):
Hello, and welcome to another episodeof Into the Scriptures. My name's Wesley
Vitale, and today we're going totalk about First Samuel chapter fifteen. Now,
First Samuel chapter fifteen is the storyof Saul and the Amalekites. Now,
we're all pretty familiar with the Amalekitessituation where the Father specially verse two
(00:23):
all the way to three. Soverses two and three, the Father gives
the command to Saul to destroy theAmalekites, and he specifically gives the command
of what to destroy. Now,for instance, he gives the command in
verse three, now go and smiteAmelek and utterly destroy all that they have,
(00:44):
and spare them not but slay bothman and women, infinite suckling,
ox and sheep, camel and donkey. So we includes all the animals to
slay them, destroy it all. Now, we know that we're going to
read a little bit more in thestory, but we know that Saul didn't
do that. Now, one ofthe points that I really want to make
and stress in this study, andthe reason why I'm bringing this up,
(01:08):
is because of the response that Saulgave or the excuse that Saul gave,
and I think This is where weneed to really bring these things to our
attention, because there's a principle,an example that we need to learn from,
because I see it so much today, even from myself what I used
to do. I see it somuch, so many times being used this
(01:32):
same exact example that Saul uses towhy he didn't do what the Father told
him to do. So we alreadyread just verse three here in First Samuel,
chapter fifteen, so it's clear thatthe father gave a command. Okay,
he gave a command directly to Saultto go destroy utterly the Amalekites.
(01:53):
So let's just go straight down toverse seven, all right, and we're
going to start a verse seven, and we're going to continue from there.
And in verse seven says, andSaw smote the Amalekites from Hivla until thou
comest too sure that is over againstEgypt. And he took a gag the
king of the Amalekites alive, andutterly destroyed all the people with the edge
(02:14):
of the sword. But Saw andthe people spared a gag, and the
best of the sheep, and ofthe oxen, and the fatlings and the
lambs, and all that was goodand would not utterly destroy them, but
everything that was vile and refused thatthey destroyed utterly. So right off the
bat, the command given verse three, you're supposed to destroy everything, even
(02:36):
down to the animals. Okay,And here you have Saul and the people
spared a gag. Now, it'simportant to understand that right off the bat,
the father gave a command and itwasn't followed. Hence why when we
read now verse ten, then camethe word of you who went to Samuel
saying, it repents me that Ihave set up Saul to be king,
(02:59):
for he is turned back from followingme and hath not performed my commandments.
And it grieves Samuel, and hecried, unto you, WHU will all
night? I love Samuel's respond It'ssaddened him to see Saul do this.
Now I know it mentions people, okay, And we're actually going to talk
about that, because Saul uses thepeople as an excuse as well, and
(03:21):
we're going to see that. We'regoing to see that. But regardless,
sauls the leader, he had thefinal decision, So regardless of that situation,
we're going to see that as well. And we're also going to see
that the father reveals what was insidehis heart to Samuel. So Samuel speaks
his mind. But so far wehave that Saul did not follow the command.
He did not follow the command whenthe father told him exactly what to
(03:44):
do and do it. Let's keepreading twelve. And when Samuel rose early
to meet Saul in the morning,it was told Samuel saying, Saul came
to Carmel, and behold, heset him up a place, and is
gone about and passed on and gonedown to Gilgall. And Samuel came to
Saul, and Saul said unto him, blessed be thou of Yahua. I
(04:08):
have performed the commandment of Yahua.Uh see what he says. Samuel shows
up and he's like, I haveI did the command. I did everything
the father wanted me to do.Yep, did everything. Now what's interesting
is verse fourteen, and Samuel said, what meaneth then the the bleeding of
(04:29):
the sheep in my ears and thelowering of the oxen, which I hear.
Now it's interesting because this reminds meof a specific verse, and it's
in Proverbs. And the reason whyit reminds me of this is notice how
notice how Saul when Samuel came, didn't tell him the whole story. He
(04:54):
was almost deceptive to the points, like, yeah, we I did everything
the father wanted to because look whatit says in verse they again, and
Saul said it to him, Blessedbe thou of Yohua. I have performed
the commandment of Yahua. He performedthe commandment. So he's like, I
did everything everything that was asked. Now we know he didn't. And now
(05:17):
Samuel goes with, then what isthis thing that I hear? Now this
reminds me of Proverbs twenty eight, because Parvers twenty eight is something that we
all should keep in mind for ourexample. It says he that covereth sorry
Proverbs twenty eight, verse thirteen. He that covereth his sin shall not prosper,
But whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shallhave mercy. Now here's the thing.
(05:44):
Saul didn't confess. Saul didn't dotell him the truth. Saul covered
his not his sin is his disobedience. He covered it. He straight covered
it by not telling Samuel that helet the sheep and oxen and a gag
alive. He didn't tell him that. And what was revealed. Samuel heard
(06:09):
heard the sheep, he heard theanimals, big, big giveaway, but
noticed this in verse fifteen, andSaul said, they have brought them from
the Amalekites. For the people sparedthe best of the sheep and the oxen
to sacrifice unto you, who arethy God, and the rest we have
lutterly destroyed. Notice how Saul quicklypasses the buck. It was the people's
(06:31):
fault. The people look at this. They have brought them from the Amalekites.
For the people spared the best ofthe sheep in the auction to sacrifice,
sacrifice unto you, whoa thy God, and the rest we have utterly
destroyed. He didn't say we didit. He said they did it.
And essentially because earlier that we readit says in verse nine it said Saul
(06:53):
and the people spared a gag.But here you have Saul just saying they
have brought them. I'm the Amalekitesthe auction, and it's not just they
brought it, but they did itto sacrifice to you, to sacrifice to
you. Now here's a very goodpoint. Many times today we like to
(07:15):
justify or give an excuse when wedon't fully do the commandment that is given
to us through the word. Whenthe Word of God tells something, we
always try to twist and go,oh, but you know, I'm doing
this for God, So he's okaywith it. I'm doing this for my
father in heaven. He's he's okaywith it. No no, no,
(07:36):
no, no no no. Ifhe gives a direct word in his I
mean, a direct command in hisword for you to do, how could
you try to justify breaking it.That's what Saul's doing here. He's justifying
why he broke it. He's justifying, and he's not done. He's not
done. Check this out. Soin Samuel, let's start reading again.
(07:57):
In verse sixteen. Then Samuel said, unto Saul, stay and I will
tell THEE what Yuhua has said tome this night. And he said,
unto him, say on. AndSamuel said, when thou was little in
thine own sight, wast thou notmade the head of the tribes of Israel.
And you who anointed THEE king overIsrael, And you who has sent
(08:18):
THEE on a journey and said,go and utterly destroy the sinners, the
Amalekites, and fight against them untilthey be consumed. So the Amalakites wasn't
innocent. Just want to throw thatout there. They were wicked, they
were sinners, they weren't innocent people. They weren't just you know, out
of the blue, let me godestroy them. That's not what Hua does.
(08:39):
That there's a specific purpose mercy andjustice that he does. And this
time there were sinners Verse nineteen.Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice
of you Hua? But didst flyupon the spoil? And didst evil in
the sight of you Hua. SoSamuel was revealed these things, okay,
and now Samuel telling Saul, andSamuel is directly talking to Saul. So
(09:03):
even though Saul passed the buck earlier, and of course didn't even say I'm
sorry, I did lie, Ishould have told you these are also kept.
But he passed the buck. Andthen he also said, but these
are for the sacrifices for God.Though you know, it's okay, it's
all right. I know I didn'tdo it all. But but I was
going to donate that to the Father. For instance, I'm gonna give an
(09:24):
example for Sabbath. I actually noindividual who did this on Sabbath. And
even I myself, and I amguilty of this. But when you look
at the Sabbath and the command isfor you not to work on the sabbath,
right, the command is given notto work in the Sabbath, and
then you go ahead and you work, and then you go, oh no,
(09:46):
but you know, I couldn't takeoff. But it's okay, I'm
gonna. I'm gonna donate everything Imake today to God. I'm gonna donate
that as tight to him so hecan use it for his purpose. That
what's the That's not the command thefather gave you. It sounds nice,
don't get me wrong. That soundsnice. It sounds great, y'all.
Okay, yeah, yeah, no, No, that's not when the Father
(10:09):
gives a command, you follow it. Here's an example of Saul doing the
same thing, and Saul's even passingthe buck and blaming someone else. But
then later on, as you cansee, Samuel's addressing him and he says,
you you were so quick, soquick, he said, didn't fly
upon the spoil. You're so quick. He just went to that spoil.
And that's one of the biggest thingsI wanted to point out here is the
(10:31):
fact that when the word of Godis specific when the word of God tells
us a command not to kill, right, not to murder, not to
bear false witness. But then wego ahead and try to justify or excuse
ourselves for why we didn't do thecommandment or why we didn't do it to
its entirety. How dare we dothat? That's what Saul tried to do
(10:56):
here, that's what so he notjust passed the buck, but he also
said, oh no, but it'sit's for the you know, the sacrifices,
it's for God. It's okay,No, no, that's not correct.
We need to stop making these excuseswhen the word of God is clear,
very clear, when it tells usthou shalt not steal, right when
(11:18):
we have thou shalt not steal?Do we go when we're hungry? Do
we go out and steal because we'rehungry, And then go, oh,
but we're hungry. If we don'teat, we're gonna die, so let
me steal. Try to justify whyit's okay breaking his commandment or trying to
alter his commandment so that it fitswhat you want to do. That's that's
(11:41):
appalling. It's wrong. It looka look at Saul. Look how Samuel's
look at this. Let's keep reading. Oh well, and not even just
keep reading. That even reminds meof Proverbs Proverbs, chapter fifteen, proverbstarter
fifteen, verse twenty seven. Yeah, he that is greedy of gain troubleth
(12:03):
his own house. But he thathateth gifts shall live. He that is
greedy of gain. Did Saul troublehis own house? Yes? Yes,
yes, his sons died in theend. He died in the end.
His kingdom was given to another becauseof the situation. It was the greed
that he had, the greed.Look at Samuel revealing this is what God
(12:26):
revealed to Samuel. Now Samuel's tellingthis to Saul. Wherefore then did you
not not obey the voice of Yohua, but did fly upon the spoil and
did evil in the sight of Yohua. And then look what he said.
Look what he says too, AndSaul said, unto Samuel, yea,
(12:48):
I have obeyed the voice of Yohuaand have gone the way with you who
has sent me, and have broughtAgag, the king of amal Amelek,
and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the spoil,
sheep and auction oxen, the chiefof the things which should have been utterly
destroyed to sacrifice unto you who arethy god in Gilgal. Notice how Saul's
(13:11):
trying to defend himself again, tryingto defend himself after he was directly directly
addressed by Samuel with a question, wherefore, why wherefore did thou not obey
the voice? Not obey the voice? And then Saul goes, I did
(13:33):
I did obey the voice? ButI did obey the voice Verse twenty,
He goes, I have obeyed thevoice of you whoe, and have gone
the way with you who has setme? Did he really go the way?
No, he didn't. But noticethis, he says, an have
brought Agag, the king of Amelek, and have utterly destroyed the amal Kites.
But the people so again, passingthe book to the people, passing
(13:54):
the buck to the people. Here'sthe problem, and we're about to read
what Samuel responds. But he's theking, he has ultimate authority among the
soldiers, among the people. Hecould easily correct them, but he did
not. He could have easily said, hey, no, no, no,
no, no, kill all theseanimals. No, no, no,
(14:15):
we don't have and he kept theking alive by the way, he
kept the king alive a gag thatwasn't a part of the command. But
as far as the people, ifit wasn't just himself, he should have
stopped the people, he should havestopped him. He should have said no,
no, no, no, we'resupposed to kill these things. We're
not supposed to keep him. Butthat's not what Saul did. It's not
(14:37):
what Saul did because it wasn't thepeople only it was him too. It
was him too. Samuel said, why did you fly upon the spoils?
In James chapter one, verse twentytwo, it says, but be e
doers of the word, and notjust hearers only deceiving your own selves.
We need to be doers of theword, not just hearers, not just
(14:58):
hearing it and be like, Okay, you know, I'll do this,
I'll do that, but yeah,I don't want to do that portion.
I don't want to do that portionbecause you know, I can always devote
the time later to him afterwards. We need to be doers of the word,
the whole word, exact word, exact word, exact commandment to obey
(15:20):
and stop passing the buck like saulcepassing the buck. And look at this
verse twenty two, at first handof fifteen. This is Samuel's response.
And Samuel said, have Yohua asgreat delight and burn offering sacrifice as in
obeying the voice of Yohua. Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
(15:41):
and to hearken than the fat oframs. So Samuel's tell him straight,
No, obedience is more important.Obedience is better obedience, obeying his word,
not trying to make excuses. It'snot trying to justify ourselves, not
trying to twist it so it fitswhat we want. But obedience is more
(16:02):
important, much more important. Ifthe Father commands you to do something,
obey, submit and obey, Submitand obey when he commands you to do
something, when he shows you somethingin his word, don't try to twist
it and say it and you knowwhat, Yeah, I'll do this,
but I'll try to No, don'tdon't do that. If if the Sabbath
(16:25):
is one of those things that hehas commanded, don't work on that day,
don't go oh, I can't takethe shift off today? Why I
already took off this week, soI can't take off Sabbath. So you
know what I'm gonna do. I'lljust donate the money. That's it's a
nice, a nice gesture, Iguess you could say, But it's not
what God wants. And it's notbeing obedient to his word. Be doers
(16:49):
of his words, not half doers, not fifty percent doers, not ninety
percent doers, doers, okay, doers. Look at Matthew chapter seven.
I actually have that in the marginhere on my Bible. I put this
here in Matthew chapter seven, specificallystarring in verse twenty one, it says,
(17:11):
not everyone that sitteth unto me,said, Master Master, shall enter
into the Kingdom of heaven. Buthe that doeth the will of my Father,
which is in heaven. Many willsay to me that day, Master
Master, have we not prophesized inyour name? And in your name has
cast out devils? And in yourname done many wonderful works? And then
will I profess unto them? Inever knew you depart from me, Ye,
(17:36):
that work iniquity. So how importantit is to keep this in mind.
First, many people will claim tobe followers of the Messiah. Many
people, but they don't do hiswill. But he that doeth the will
my Father, which is in heaven, are the ones that shall enter in
the kingdom. They are the ones. And then there's also my people who
(18:00):
would be just doing works but nofaith, no faith, and will profess
to be followers. And in thiscase, when we're looking at Saul,
we're looking at Saul. Saul didnot do the will of our father in
heaven. He did not do whatthe father commanded. He didn't do it.
(18:22):
And it's very clear he didn't doit. Even Samuel is very clear
about that as well, verse twentythree. Look look what he says.
This is Samuel still too, Saul. For rebellion is as in First Samuel
fifteen, verse twenty three. Forrebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
and stubbornness is as iniquity in idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of
(18:45):
Yehua, he hath also rejected youfrom being king, who he says,
rebellion disobedience. By the way,Saul, being disobedient, not obey the
command of Yahua He's sent calling thatrebellion. So you being disobedient, as
(19:07):
you being in rebellion or rebellious, and he even likens that rebellion is as
sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness isas an iniquity of idolatry. Idolatry whoa
his disobedience is a sin. Hisdisobedience is on the same level as those
other sins. Remember the scripture says, you break one commandment, you break
(19:32):
them all, because the wages ofsin is death. They all have the
same exact contact, same exact curse, which is death. And he says
for rebellion, So Paul's an openrebellion by not listening. Look at this
in verse twenty four, and Saulsaid onto Samuel, I have sin,
for I have transgressed the commandment ofYohua and and thy words because I feared
(19:56):
the people and obeyed their bade theirvoice. Now here's the thing. Here's
a thing. Now he's coming outand saying he's sorry for the situation,
okay, because he sees what he'sdone. Now, there's a couple of
things he did right off the bat. He didn't tell Samuel what was really
going on. He says, Idid it, and then he passes the
buck to the people. And again, when I read this, it definitely
(20:17):
seems like he's still because I fearedthe people and obeyed their voice. So
he ultimately feared the people more thanhe feared God. He feared the people
more than Yahua, and that's whyhe did it. But we read that
Samuel's very quick that he's not. He's also liable because he also wanted it.
He also wanted That's why he says, why are we so quick to
(20:40):
fly upon the spoil? Why isso quick to fly upon the spoil?
Now check this out. Let's keepreading here. It says, Now,
therefore, I pray THEE pardon mysin and turn again with me, that
I may worship Yahua and Samu SanatoSaul. I will not return with THEE,
for thou hast rejected the word ofYhua, and the word objected the
word of Huah, and yohuah Hathrejected you from being king over Israel.
(21:02):
And as Samuel turned about to goaway, he laid hold upon the skirt
of his mantle, and he rent, and it rent, and Samuel sent
it to him. Yohuah Hath rentthe kingdom of Israel from this day from
you this day, and have givenit to the neighbor of thine that is
better than you. And also thestrength of Israel will not lie. Will
(21:23):
I lie, nor repent, forhe is not a man that he should
repent. Then he said, Ihave sinned, yet honor me. Now
I pray thee before the elders ofmy people and before Israel, and turn
again with me that I may worshipYahuah, my God. This is important,
even those Saul's saying, I'm sorry. How many times did Saul do
(21:48):
this? Many many times, actuallymany times, many times earlier in his
life he did the same thing, not listening to the word of God.
For instance, I'll give an example. He was pushed to eat Samuel.
It was a battle that they weregoing to do. He's supposed to be
Samuel, but because he was afraidthat the people, he gave the excuse
again of the people, saying thatthe people were scared. But he said,
(22:10):
the time appointed you didn't show up. So he just performed the sacrifices
for the people to go to battle. And that's not what was the command.
The command was to wait for Samuelto come, to wait for him
to come. But he didn't wait. This is not the first time Saul
disobeyed and The point here that I'mI really want to focus on is the
(22:30):
fact of he allowed the people tocontrol him. Right, even even let's
say if it's not one hund percenthis fault here, because to me,
when I read this, I definitelysee Saul has to blame because of him
being king, he had the ultimatesay, he had the responsibility. But
also the fact that he also flewupon the spoils. He flew upon the
(22:52):
spoils. That's that's what he wanted. Just what it is. So it's
not just the people's fault. Butlet's just say it's the people's fault him
being in the position of responsibility shouldhave did something and didn't. He allowed
it, justifying it saying, oh, it's for sacrifices, it's okay.
But the focus here is the factthat we need to be doers of the
(23:15):
word. If the Father gives usa commandment and we are to do his
will, we're not going to changeit. We're not going to twist it
to justify or anything like that.We do it. If the Father commands
us to keep the sabbath, ifhe commands us, commands us to worship
(23:37):
him, how dare we not dothat? How can we go, oh,
I didn't worship God at all,or I haven't had no time for
him at all this week. It'sokay, it's okay, I just had
to work. I'll make it upsome other time. That's that's not how
this works. It's not how thisworks. And that's one of the examples
(24:00):
I really wanted to stand out here, is that we keep making excuses to
justify ourselves, to justify why we'renot doing certain things because of what.
There's usually fear involved, fear ofeither losing a job, fear of losing
friends, fear of losing any money, fear like Paul Saul, fear of
people, fear of people, ofall things like this is this is a
(24:26):
huge example for us to learn fromhuge example that the fact of justifying our
disobedience is horrible. Like check thisout Exodus chapter twenty three, Verse two.
Thou shalt not follow a multitude todo evil, neither shalt thou speak
in a cause to decline after manyto rest judgment. Did Saul follow this
(24:52):
commandment? No, he didn't.If he feared the people in that manner
that he did not follow and disobeyedthe commandment given to him by God,
he did not follow this command inExodus twenty three, Verse two, Again,
thou shalt not follow a multitude todo evil. Neither shalt thou speak
(25:17):
in a cause to decline after manyto rest judgment. It is absolutely important
for us to also bear that inmind. Don't allow people jobs to bend
us, to do evil, todo, to disobey, to do the
(25:41):
things that that the Father tells usnot to do. Don't do it,
don't do it. Another verse thatcomes up is Proverbs Proverbs twenty nine,
p. Twenty nine, specifically versetwenty five. Things actually No. Twenty
five. The fear of man bringetha snare, But whosoever putteth his trust
(26:04):
and Yahua shall be safe. DidSaul put his trust in Yohua? No,
he feared the people. He fearedthe people more and again you still
have the thing of He also wantedit up too. Most of the stuff
we get pressured into doing, wekind of want to do it anyways too.
(26:25):
I mean, I know that's howmy life has been in the past.
When we're doing something that technically Ishouldn't be doing, I really don't
want to, But at the sametime, it'll be kind of cool,
you know, and I end updoing it when I'm pressured, and then
end up was like, oh itwas it was my friend. He did
that, He did it. Hewas the one who got me into it.
(26:45):
And then you go, you know, in reality, I wanted it,
and that's what Saul did. Eventhough he feared the people more,
Saul still flew upon those spoils.Quick, quick, quick, let's go
to another one. Galatians, chapterone, verse ten. Galatians, Chapter
(27:07):
one, verse ten four. DoI now persuade men or God? Or
do I seek to please men?For if I yet pleased men, I
should not be the servant of Messiah. Paul. Paul is very clear here.
But Saul needs to understand this, and he didn't. He didn't he
(27:33):
pleased the people. And of coursehe kind of wanted it too, because
he quickly went on that spoil, kept a gag alive. Wasn't supposed to.
But this is our example. Nowwe got we can't make excuses,
we can't try to make it soundgood. Why we didn't keep a commandment,
why we're not following his word? And again a perfect example is I'm
(27:56):
not talking about just doing his word. Okay, I want to make sure
or that is out there. I'mtalking about by faith. Faith without works
is dead, and works without faithis dead. Nothing your faith brings you,
brings you the manifestation that fruit thatcomes from your faith is these works,
is obedience. So just make sureI'm not taking go out there and
(28:19):
go do the whole commitment yourself.I'm not saying anything like that. I'm
talking about if by faith we obeyHis word and obey who every part of
us wholly, one hundred percent,we obey through faith through the Messiah.
(28:40):
Let us not try to justify whywe didn't We're not doing it. Why
were we didn't do it? Don'tgive excuses, don't blame other people,
and be careful not to please men, not to be fearful of men,
because look at Saul. Look atSaul's disobedience. This is not the first
(29:00):
time he had a situation like thiswhere he disobeyed, but this is one
of the pinnacle moments that he disobeyedand he lost the kingdom. He lost
it. It was given to David, his sons. Assault sons was killed
in a battle. They didn't evenreign anymore. They didn't even had a
chance of reigning as on the throneor anything. All of that was removed
(29:23):
because of his disobedience. And remember, disobedience is likened to rebellion, to
be rebellious, and it is asin against the Father. It is a
sin. And that is the pointof why I wanted to read for sam
with fifteen. How many times haveI heard people try to justify why they
(29:44):
can't do this or why they can'tdo that. If the Father is clear
in his word, do it.Don't just be hearers, be doers by
faith. By faith, be doersof the word. And be careful when
you're setting an example. You're settingan example and people are watching. You
(30:08):
hold the seat of responsibility in yourown life. And if you can stop
it, if you can say somethingto other individuals when the chance comes up
and you don't, you you prettymuch bowed down to them because of the
fear you have for them. Theseare all examples we can learn just from
(30:30):
right here, just from what Sauldid, just where Saul did. And
this is this is this is huge. This is why I look at every
single every single chapter, every singleevent, every single story that's mentioned the
history here. This is important becausewe can learn from these things we can
(30:52):
learn from it. So the mainpoint again, it's just the fact of
be careful hiding things. Okay,be careful saying, oh, I did
I did everything the Father wanted meto, right, be careful of hiding
things, especially from God, becausehe knows everything. He knows everything,
just like he revealed to Samuel whatSaul wasn't saying at first. Saul wasn't
(31:15):
saying at first. And then theother example is careful justifying and giving excuse
to why you didn't do what Godwants you to do, and that just
do that, but also also sayoh no, but it's for God anyway,
so it's okay. No, theFather wants obedience, obedience more than
(31:36):
sacrifice. It's more important than sacrificesthe faith. Obedience by faith is more
important. Then you just it's okay, I'll give him tithe today, I'll
give him the whatever money i'll maketoday. I know he wants me to
keep the sabath, but I'll justdonate that money. No, no,
no, no no no. What'smore important is you? Is you keep
in the sabbath by faith. Andthen the other example is people don't let
(32:04):
people don't let people persuade you todo stuff against the father. Don't don't
let the fear of that persuade youto not obey, to change commandments,
to twist or to justify. Don'tlet that be, and don't pass the
buck. In the end it ifwe are going to do something, in
(32:24):
the end, we have to makethat decision to do it or not to
do it. We are not thejudge here. We can only know what
we were doing. And all I'msaying is to examine ourselves when it comes
to these things. Be careful ofthe fear of people of pleasing other people.
Let that not bring disobedience. Letyou not be in disobedience like Saul,
(32:51):
because now look at Saul. It'sa sad story. It shows disobedience
as rebellion. And this is importantfor us to putting our brains and stop
making excuses, stop trying to justifywhy we're breaking or not following all his
word or none of his word.Don't justify it, don't do it,
(33:13):
don't do it all. It's likeI've had a situation conversation with someone and
said, with a person who washomeless on the street, what would you
do if you came to him?He gave him money for food, and
he decided to come and bring backfood so that both of you can eat
together on the side of the roadwith that money you gave him. And
the food he gave you was washad pork in it, and I don't
(33:35):
I personally do not eat anything unclean. What would I do. I'll tell
you what, I'm not gonna eatthat pig. I'm not gonna eat that
pork. I'm not gonna eat it. I'm not gonna do disobedience. I'll
give it to the homeless man ifyou like it. But I don't need
to eat that. I don't needto eat it. Make it very clear,
why would I fear hurting his feelingsif I'm standing on a solid foundation,
(34:02):
especially if you explain it to themand tell them why. It's a
great opportunity right then and there towitness to someone. And I'm not saying
to throw it in their face orbe offended or anything like that. I'm
saying to just tell them, tellthem, don't be afraid of don't be
afraid of the light that was givento you. Don't be afraid to share
(34:22):
that stuff to be a witness.Don't be pushy, don't be pushy when
you're doing it. But those typeof things is we're trying to justify why
we're going to break the father's commandmentor to break the Father's will. We
shouldn't be doing that. We shouldn'tbe doing that. The Word of God
(34:45):
is our foundation, and through theWord is the only way. For instance,
sacrifices. We don't sacrifice animals. The Book of Daniel's very clear.
When the Messiah came, those thingsare done, the sacrificial lamb, the
sacrificial sys, the physical lamb, that lamb that we used to take from
the flocks. Those things we won'tdo anymore. The Messiah is that lamb.
(35:09):
Now the Bible is clear about that. That verse Washings Cardinal Ordinances Hebrews
chapter ten says, all these thingswe're imposed until a time, opposed until
a time. See how the Bible'sclear. So when the Word of God
gives you, you know, clearcommand, why are we Why are we
(35:30):
trying to twist it or justify itto do a different way or to give
an excuse why we can't do itor can only do partial We shouldn't be
doing that. If the Word ofGod says it, then it says it.
If it doesn't say anywhere else onthe contrary or to add more to
then so be it. Don't belike Saul. This a self examination.
(35:52):
Don't be like Saul. And that'swhy I want to do this study,
this reading of first m of fifteen, because it shows the example of how
we should remember sauls Sauls situation, his example here so that we can examine
ourselves and to go, Am Idoing what's ald in? Am I doing
(36:12):
what he did? So I praythis was a blessing to you. And
again everything we study, don't justtake my word for it. Go back
and study these things out for yourselves. Go back to First Samuel fifteen.
Read it for yourselves. I dideven touch some of the other connecting verses
that I have down, and youknow why I didn't touch that, because
(36:35):
it's for you. Encourage you togo and look for more, look for
yourself. To go and have thatstudy for yourself, and notice how these
things all connect connect to give youan example, mean example. And that's
how we should be reading every singlestory. Is what do I need to
learn today for myself to apply formyself? Don't be one of the individual
(36:55):
goes what can I learn today soI can tell my neighbor what is now?
Can I learn today so that Ican apply in my life, so
that I can learn from myself. And then the things that I learn for
myself is the things I can nowshare and be a witness. So I
pray this was a blessing. Goand read some more on this topic,
specifically, learn the example and alwaysexamine yourself. So I pray this was
(37:22):
a blessing. Until next time,shalom.
