(00:00):
Hello, and welcome to another episodeof Into the Scriptures. My name is
Wesley Vital and today's topic is aboutblasphemy. Now, we all have the
understanding that blasphemy is bad. I'mpretty sure everyone has that understanding, and
I think we can come to agreementthat blasphemy is a no go. Okay,
(00:20):
blasphemy is something we should not bedoing. But what exactly is blasphemy?
What does it look like? Iknow a lot of people like to
attach that word to certain situations thatactually doesn't really apply. For instance,
and I'm just gonna go We're gonnastart in Second Kings, chapter nineteen,
verse six. But before we gothere, if we just look up the
Hebrew word right for blast, blasphemyor blasphemed. If we look at blasphemed,
(00:46):
it talks about to be, torevile, right, to revile,
and to revile, And if yougo to Westbrod Dictionary, to revile it
means you're criticizing an abusive manner,or you're insultive or insulting. And so
we know, just based on thedefinition, yeah, it's something bad,
but what does that look like exactly? There's more than just it's bad.
(01:07):
You're being insultive. There's so muchmore. It's a deeper understanding that I
think we need to go through theword and see. And now the reason
why I say that is because inthe end you won't believe. I know.
For me, I was kind ofshocked with the connection that the scripture
makes with blasphemy and your example. And that for me is why this study,
(01:34):
or at least the understanding of whatblasphemy is is so important in our
walk, so important. So let'sus start out with Second Kings chapter nineteen,
verse six. Now there's an individualwe're going to start with. We're
going to start with the King ofAssyria. Okay, and King of Assyria.
The scripture says in Second King chapternineteen, verse six that he blasphemed,
(02:00):
he blaspheming, blaspheming God. Heblasphemed Yohua. And also in Isaiah
chapter thirty seven, verse six.So let me just read these two verses
real quick. So Second King chapternineteen, verse six, and Isaiah said,
unto them, thus shall you sayto your master, thus saith ye
Hua, be not afraid of thewords which thou hast heard, with which
(02:23):
the servants of the King of Assirihas blasphemed. Now before this situation,
we're going to read it. Butbefore the situation, the king of Asiri
sent messengers to the Israelites. Okay, this is after he conquered and all
that, and he sent messengers becausethere was people saying that Yuhua will protect
them, that yu Hua will bewith them. They didn't like that period,
(02:46):
So the king of Assirira sent messengersto pretty much put God in his
place. Well, he intended thatthat didn't happen. We're going to read
that in Second King's eighteen. Butthe focus I just want to bring with
this one versus showing that the Bible'spacific saying that the king of Assyria blasphemed,
blasphemed our Father in Heaven, GodAlmighty, blasphemed him. And in
(03:08):
Isaiah thirty seven, verse six,it says it again. It says,
and Isaiah said unto them, Thusshall you say unto your master? Thus
saith you Hua, be not afraidof the words that thou hast heard.
Wherewith the servants of the King ofAssyria has blastphemed me. So again you
(03:29):
have two verses, two locations, the mouth of two or three witnesses clearly
the King of Assyria blasphemed our fatherin heaven. Now, let's how exactly
right, how did he blaspheme? Now again, he sent his servants to
deliver a message, So how exactlydid he blaspheme? Let's actually read it.
So in Second Kings chapter eighteen, verse twenty eight, now pay attention
(03:53):
to how he's he just pay attentionto what's being said, because you're going
to see that there's a clear denominatorof what he's doing or what he's trying
to give as a message to thesepeople. So in Second Kings chapter eighteen,
starting in verse twenty eight, says, and I'm sorry, I'm going
(04:14):
to butcher some names. But thenrashak Rabshaka stood and cried with a loud
voice in the Jews language, andspoke saying, hear the word of the
King, the Great King, theKing of Assyria. Thus sayeth the King,
Let not Hezekiah deceive you, forhe shall not be able to deliver
(04:35):
you out of his hand. Neitherlet Hezekiah make you trust in Yuhua,
saying, Yehua will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered
into the hand, into the handof the King of Assyria. Now,
before I continue to verse thirty one, notice that the messenger that the King
(04:56):
of Assyria sent he wanted to makesure the Jews understood this. He spoke
in the language of the Jews, and he specifically told him don't listen to
Hezekiah who says to trust in yourGod. Don't listen to him, and
don't listen to him when he says, oh, that your God is gonna
protect you against the King of Assyria. He's so so far he's making it
clear of do not believe Hezekiah,do not listen to his message. And
(05:21):
now we're gonna get even deeper towhat he says. So starovers thirty at
thirty one, hearken not to Hezekiah. For thus the King of Assyria make
an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and
then eat you every man of hisown vine and every one of his victory,
and drink you everyone everyone the watersof his cistern, until I come
(05:46):
and take you away to the landlike your own land, a land of
corn wine, a land of breadand vineyards, a land of oil,
olive and honey, that you maylive and not die, and hearken not
unto Hezekiah when he persuadeth you, saying you who will will deliver us?
Now before I continue thirty three,Notice he's trying to tell him I have
(06:10):
something good. I have something good. Don't listen to Hezekiah. Your God
is not going to help you.I can offer you. Make an agreement
with me. Come to me.Come to me, and I will give
you vine years. I will bringyou to a land that's better. I
will bring you bread and vineyards andolive oil and honey that you may actually
live and not die. This iswhat the King of Syria is saying.
(06:33):
He's trying to take the place ofGod and saying God is weak compared to
what he has to offer. Let'skeep reading. Though, let's keep reading.
We're not done. There's more tothis message. So verse thirty three.
Have any of the gods of thenations delivered out or delivered at all
his hand out of the hand ofthe King of Syria. Now, he
(06:54):
just asked this question in this messageto deliver fear and distrust, distrust and
doubt to the Jews. By sayingthis, he goes, did any of
the other gods, did any ofthe other gods of the nations help them
out of my hand? No,that was a rhetoric question. No of
those other nations fell to the kingof Assyria. And that's what he's trying
(07:18):
to say. He's putting doubt, making, exalting himself, and putting the
Father in heaven making him weak, make him weak the chem Assyria is boasting
himself and saying, what other godis able to hold me up? Don't
trust in your god. Let's keepreading verse thirty thirty four. Where are
(07:39):
the gods of Hamath and our padour pod? Where are the gods of
Sapharim, Hena and Eva? Havethey delivered Samaria out of my hand?
Again? Sorry for butchering the words, but again here he is bringing up
the names of these gods and sayingthat these gods didn't even withstand me who
(08:01):
delivered them? At Did they deliverthem out of my hand? No?
They didn't. This is a highhanded message. This is a this is
this is an exalting himself better, making God look weak. Let's continue verse
thirty five. Who are they amongall the gods of the countries that have
delivered their country out of my hand? That Yohua should deliver Jerusalem out of
(08:26):
my hand. But the people heldtheir peace and answered him not a word.
For the king's commandment was saying, answer him not. This is what's
crazy. Verse thirty five. Hebrings it up again that what God in
any of these countries, any ofthem protected them against me, stopped me
from taking their land, None ofthem. And then he even brings up
(08:50):
the father's name. It says thatYohua should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand.
Again, this is like a retortalquestion. Look at what I've done
so far? You think your punyGod's gonna help? He blasphemed by how
how exactly did we just read here? He blaspheming by denying the power of
(09:13):
God, denying his power, mockinghim, mocking him, saying, is
weak. He was weak. Lookat what I've done, Look what I've
done, Look what I can offeryou and your God can't. And then
he rejected the power of God,rejected him, and made himself look more
powerful, exalted himself, made himlook more powerful than the God of heaven.
(09:35):
That's how he blasphemed. He blasphemingby denying, mocking, rejecting,
and making exalting himself making himself morepowerful. And again, by the definition
of blasphemy, it means to revileand to reviol mes, to insult or
criticize, abuse in an abusive manner. This is literally what he did,
but he did it more with pride. This is pride of Look what I've
(09:58):
done, Look what I've done. This is a huge example for us to
understand right off the bat what blasphemyis. It's when you deny the power
of God. It's when you mockhim and openly mock him especially, But
when you mock him, and thenwhen you exalt yourself higher, you exalt
(10:20):
yourself higher, reject him and say, forget you, look what I can
do. Let's look up more.Let's look up another situation. So we
have in scripture starting Isaiah sixty five, verse seven. Go to Isaiah sixty
five, verse seven. We're gonnasee that the children of Israel also blasphemed
God. Okay, children of Israelis also blaspheming God. So we have
(10:45):
the example of the king of Assyriablaspheming God by making himself more powerful,
exalting himself by denying his power,by mocking him, rejecting him. Now,
let's look at how the children ofIsrael. So in Isaiah sixty five,
verse seven, it says, youriniquities and the iniquities of your fathers
together Saithihua, which have burnt incenseupon the mountains and blasphem me upon the
(11:07):
hills. Therefore will I measure theirformal work into their bosom. So here
again we have the Israelites saying inscripture that they blasphemed him. They blasphemed
our father in heaven. How didjust like we did the king of Assyria?
How did they blasphemy? How didthey blaspheme? How let's look up
(11:28):
the actual situation that they did.Let's look it up, and let's see
if it matches what the King ofAssyria did, because there's again common denomina
of how you blasphem blaspheme. Solet's go to Ezekiel chapter twenty, verse
twenty seven and twenty eight. Now, these two is going to show,
and there's more. We're going todo a couple witnesses here, but this
(11:48):
first witness is going to show alittle tibit of what the Iselites were doing
specifically. So Ezekiel chapter twenty, starting verse twenty seven and twenty eight.
We're going to read Therefore, sada man speak unto the house of Israel,
and say unto them, Thus saithyou who a god? Yet in
this your fathers have blasphemed me inthat they have committed a trespass against me.
(12:13):
For when I had brought them intoland for the witch, I lifted
up my hand to give it tothem. Then they saw every high hill
and all the thick trees, andthey offered their sacrifices. And there they
presented the provocation of their offering. There also they made their sweet savor and
(12:35):
poured out their drinks offerings. Sowhat is exactly these two verses saying,
so they blasphemed God? Right, they blasphemed our father in heaven, because
they committed a trespass against him,and the trespass is a sin. They
committed a trespass against him. Andhow exactly, how exactly that's where twenty
(12:56):
eight came in when it said, when I brought them into land, then
they lifted the which I lifted upmy hand to give it to them.
Then they saw every high hill,So they were looking at the things around,
and they offered their their sacrifices, and they presented the provocation of their
offering. There also they made theirsweet savor and poured out their drink offerings.
(13:20):
This is idolatry, idole worship, giving these offerings and these things to
the stuff they're looking at, thethick trees, the high hills. That's
why when we read in Isaiah sixtyfive or seven, it says they blasphemed
me upon the hills. They blasphemedme, and this is a trespass.
They served another idol, giving offeringsto the things they're looking at, this
(13:45):
land that the Father himself brought himto. That's one of the ways they
blasphemed him by denying him and goingfor something else, openly denying him and
going for something else, because itwas the Father himself who brought him there.
Know what happened in Egypt. Weall know what happened at the Red
Sea, the parting of the RedSea. We know what happened in Sinai.
And then when they get to thePromised Land, this is what they
(14:07):
do. They saw with their owneyes, and yet they still reject him.
That's crazy. Let's look at somemore examples. More examples Psalms one
oh six, verse six and sevenSongs one oh six, verse six and
seven shows again another thing they'd done. We have sinned with our fathers.
We have committed in nicarly. Wehave done wickedly. Our fathers understood not
(14:31):
thy wonders. In Egypt, theyremember not the multitude of your mercies.
But provoked him at the sea, even at the Red Sea. Now I
love how they bring up the RedSea. What happened at the Red Sea?
We all know the story. I'mpretty sure we all know the story.
At the Red scene, they wereboxed in and the Egyptians were coming,
(14:52):
but they were complaining. There weresome who was complaining, and they
complained about where they were, howit was better in Egypt, that we
should go back to Egypt. Ohdid God bring us here so that we
can just die? What? That'sliterally what they were doing at the Red
scene. Look, the Egyptians arecoming. Did He bring us here so
we can be slaughtered? That isa horrible, horrible attitude. That's why
(15:18):
in scripture, right here in verseseven of Psalms one of sixty says,
but provoked him at the Red Sea. They tried to provoke. They provoked
him, provoked him. They didn'tremember what he did in Egypt. They
saw all those plagues, all thosethings fall on the Egyptians, and yet
they still had the audacity at thered seat to say, oh, did
God just bring us here to killus? That's how they provoked him the
(15:41):
red scene. That's a mockery. That's an absolute mockery, absolute mockery.
It's horrible, this complete rejection ofwhat God did for them, complete rejection.
Let's go to First King chapter fourteen. Now let's look and more.
Let's look at most more. FirstKing chapter four teen, verse twenty two.
(16:04):
First Kings chapter fourteen, verse twentytwo. And Judah did evil in
the site of Yehua, and theyprovoked him to jealousy with their sins,
which they had committed above all thattheir fathers had done. For They also
built them high places images, groveson every high hill and under every green
(16:26):
tree. And there were also sodomitesin the land, and they did according
to all the abominations of the nationswhich you Hua cast out before the children
of Israel. So again they didevil in his sight. How by serving
other gods, By serving other gods, they even had Sodomites, people who
(16:47):
were also Sodomites in the land, like, come on, man, they
know the story of Son and Gomorah, and yet hear they're doing it.
They did ever they said, itsays in verse twenty four, First King,
chapter fourteen. They did, accordingto all the abominations of the nations,
absolutely everything the Father has done forthis people. Yet this is what
they do. This is what they'redoing. They are rejecting him forgetting everything,
(17:12):
choosing to forget everything he's done forhim, everything he has established.
They're saying, forget it. Wewant this, we want other the idols.
We want to do what the nationsare doing. And that's what they're
doing. A common denominator here, common denominator here is they're denying the power
of God and they're rejecting him, complete rejection to serve idols. And what
(17:37):
did the King Assyria do? Notonly the King Assyria was making himself more
powerful, exalting himself, but rejecting, absolutely rejecting God and what he's done,
saying, nah, no one canwithstand me. He was mocking him,
and this is mockery. To thisthe children viser will also mock God
because the Bible says they blasphemed himby serving other idols, by rejecting him,
(17:59):
by going away from him. Andwhat's crazy is God specifically told them
what they were to do, specificallytold them what they were to do.
Let's go to it. It's aDeuteronomy Dourami, chapter twelve, starting in
verse one, and we'll go tofour. Our father in heaven specifically told
(18:21):
them, specifically told them what theywere to do, and instead, we're
about to read, instead of doingit, they rejected it. Okay,
So check this out. Dourmi, chapter twelve, Verse one. These are
the statutes and the judgments which youshall observe to do in the land which
Yohua, God of thy fathers, give thee to possess it. All the
(18:44):
days that you live upon the earth, you shall utterly destroy all the places
wherein the nations which you shall possess, serve their gods, upon the high
mountains and upon the hills, andupon every green tree. And you shall
overthrow their altars, and break theirpillars, and burn their grows with fire.
And you shall hew down the gravenimage of the images of their gods,
(19:06):
and destroy the names of them.Out of this place you shall not
do so unto you who your God. So here the Father is saying,
you will destroy the idle idle worship. You will destroy it, the altars,
the things on the hills, thehigh mountains, the trees, everything
that is used for idle worship. And then he specifically tells him in verse
(19:27):
four, you will not do thesethings this to me. This is not
how you're gonna serve me. You'renot gonna worship the way they're worshiping,
these idols and these things. You'renot gonna do that to me. You're
not gonna do that to me.But what was crazy, we're crazy,
is they chose to turn from that. They deny they'd have to deny his
(19:48):
power to say, you know what, we're not gonna listen to that.
We're gonna do our own thing. We rather do this, And that's exactly
what ended up happening. They turnedtheir backs on God, they rejected him,
the chose to turn away. Theydenied his power. Everything he's done
for them in the past, they'redenying it by turning from him, by
doing their own things. All thosewonders that He has performed for them in
(20:11):
Egypt bring him to the Promised Land, they didn't care. They didn't care.
They turned from him to do theirown thing, to do their own
thing. And what as crazy isjust like the king Assyria, they also
exalted themselves. How did they exaltthemselves? Isaiah thirty seven, verse twenty
two to twenty four. Check thisout thirty seven, verse twenty two to
(20:36):
twenty four. This is the wordWhichiehua has spoken concerning him. The Virgin,
the daughter of Zion, hath despisedyou and laughed you to scorn.
The daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken herhead at you, whom hast thou reproached
and blasphemed, and against whom hastthou exalted voice and lifted up the eyes
(21:00):
on high, even against the HolyOne, even against the Holy One of
Israel. By thy servants, hastthou reproached the Master, and hast said,
by the multitude of my chariots,am I come up to the height
of the mountains, to the sizeof Lebanon, and I will cut down
the tall cedars thereof, and thechoice fir trees thereof, And I will
(21:22):
enter into the height of his borderand the forest of his carmel. This
is the children of Israel openly despisinghim, mocking him, and claimed the
power was of themselves, the powersof themselves. This is crazy, This
(21:45):
is crazy. It says, Jerusalemhave shaken her head at you, like
verse twenty three of Isaiah thirty seven, whom hast thou reproached? Now,
the word reproached means to mock ordefame. That's literally the word in Hebrew
to reproach, to mock or defame. And then blasphemy to revile, to
(22:06):
criticize, abusively, to insult,to exalt. So when in verse twenty
three says whom hast thou reproached mocked, defamed, and blasphemy blasphemed, that's
a question mark what like who?And against whom has thou exalted thy voice?
And then it answers, it sayseven against the Holy One of Israel,
(22:30):
against the Holy One of Israel,And it says, they exalted their
voice. And against whom thou hastexalted your voice? Whom did they?
And it answers in that verse, the Holy One of Israel, the Father,
They exalted themselves above God. Theydespised him, they mocked him and
claimed the power was of themselves, exactly like the king of Assyria, the
(22:56):
Kimra SyRI denied, rejected, mockedhim, openly, told them not to
trust the power of God, andthen said I have better. And here's
their life's doing the same thing, going to idol worship, rejecting God,
turning away from what they know tobe right, forgetting what they're doing,
going you know what, I knowhe did this for me, but I
did this. Look at the reproachthey did at the Red Sea. They
(23:19):
just saw all those things in Egypt, and look what they end up doing.
Oh God brought us here to die. That's mockery. That's mockery.
These are great examples for us tounderstand, and probably one of the greatest
right we just saw in verse twentythree of Isaiah thirty seven the word reproach.
What's crazy is you find this wordreproach again, but it's actually a
(23:42):
different we know what we'll see it. It's actually a different word in this
one. So in number chapter fifteen, verse twenty nine to thirty one,
the word reproach that we're going toread in verse thirty it actually in Hebrew
means blasphemy, blasphemed. So whenwe read this, we're going to see
(24:03):
something a little bit more. Solet's just get into it. Numbers fifteen,
twenty nine to thirty one. Youshall have one law for him that
sinneth through ignorance, both for himthat is born among the children visual and
for the stranger that's sir journath amongthem. That's a good verse to show
that the law was given to bothboth in Israelite by blood and also a
(24:23):
stranger as well. Let's go tocontinue on verse thirty. But the soul
that doeth ought presumptuously, whether hebe born of the land or a stranger,
the same reproacheth Yehua, and thatsoul shall be cut off from among
his people because he has despised theword of Yohua and has broken his commandment.
(24:48):
That soul shall be shall utterly becut off. His iniquity shall be
upon him. Now, like Imentioned in verse thirty, that word reproached,
it actually means Hebrew to blaspheme toblasphemy. So this this individual,
Okay, this individual, he'll becut off because what is he doing.
(25:08):
He's doing aunt presumptuously. He's averse thirty one. He despises the word
of Hua. He has broken hiscommandments, and the soul shall be cut
off. So again, this personis openly rejecting and on purpose, on
purpose, on purpose, going againstany regard like going against God command like
(25:37):
on purpose. Now, why doI say that the word presumptuously check this
out. The word presumptuously presumptuously inHebrew means high hand, a high hand.
The word specifically means high hand, which means a bold or daring.
It means to deliberately, deliberately goagainst something. And in this case it
(26:00):
says, but the soul that doesought presumptuously. So they are going against
openly, deliberately going against our father. He's going against He's deliberately blasphemy deliberately,
he's deliberately doing it. And thisis why it's important to understand about
(26:22):
blasphemy. Why it's so bad.You are deliberately going against God. You
are openly rejecting him. You areopenly on purpose mocking him. This is
disgusting. This is why blasphemy isso bad. And this is why,
(26:42):
this is why when we read inlike Hebrews chapter six, let's go to
it Hebrews chapter six, verse four, and we're gonna go to six.
It says, for it is impossiblefor those who once who were once enlightened,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the
(27:03):
Holy Ghost, and have tasted thegood word of God and the power of
the world to come, if theyshall fall away, to renew them again
unto repentance, seeing they crucify tothemselves the son of God afresh and put
him to an open shame. Thisis why it is almost impossible. It
is impossible for someone who has tastedthe heavenly gift to fall away, because
(27:27):
they seen all these things, andyet they still reject it. That's someone
deliberately saying no, no, theytasted this heavenly gift. That's why in
Hebrews chapter six, verse four saysit is impossible for those who were once
enlightened, possible, and verse sixdoes give hope, though it says at
(27:48):
the end of verse six, seeingthey crucify to themselves the son of God
afresh and put him to an openshame. Now there's a verse that we're
all familiar with is matt chapter twelve, verse thirty one, where it says,
wherefore I say unto you all mannerof sin, and blasphemy shall be
forgiven unto men, but the blasphemyof against the Holy Ghost shall not be
(28:10):
forgiven unto men. Here's what's crazy. When people read that, they go,
why the reason why we just talkedabout blasphemy. We looked up some
example so far of the Israelites andKing of Assyria, and we also looked
at numbers, numbers of fifteen. It's there on purpose mocking, rejecting.
So it says all manner can beforgiven, but onto the Holy Ghost.
(28:32):
The spirit of God is what changesthat. An individual is what is invited
into us, into our hearts,to change us, to make us into
a new creature. It's the thingthat puts his law in our hearts so
that he may abide in us withhis son. We are openly rejecting that.
How can any change occur? Iam deliberately saying no, I do
(28:55):
not want his spirit. I donot want him period. When it says
all men are sin and blasphemy, you know, like we read, some
of the blaspheming that was being doneis just open mockery, open mockering,
mockery, prideful exalting yourself, butspecifically open rejection open mock doing it on
(29:18):
purpose, a deliberate deliberately going againstIf you apply that the blasphemy going against
the Holy Ghost and not be forgivenon to men, I understand why because
the person doesn't even want it period. They don't even want it at all.
And it gets so much more,so much more. Let's go to
Hebrew chapter ten, verse twenty six. Hebrew chapter ten, verse twenty six.
(29:42):
It says, for if we sinwilfully, after that we have received
the knowledge of truth, there remainethno more sacrifices for sin. How important
for us to understand that if weknow the truth and we choose on purpose
to go against, to go againstit, to sin, there's no more
(30:03):
sacrifice for sin. The messiah sacrificeis not on us anymore. We have
to come to him and ask forforgiveness. Again. Again, how important
it is for us to understand thatblash me is not just bad, it's
evil. It is evil, itis sick, it is twisted. You
are open rejecting, open mockery, all these things, all these things.
(30:29):
There's just when I look at blashme in that manner, now, when
I see it, it's more,it's horrible, openly rejecting and on purpose,
on purpose. It's not just byaccident. It's an on purpose thing.
And check that this is the biggestconnection when it comes to our example
(30:51):
in tewod Samuel chapter twelve, versethirteen, and we're going to read the
twenty four and this is when Nathancame to came to David to them what
he's done with Bathsheba. And itwas wrong, it was sinful. Look
at the response. So in SecondSamuel chapter twelve, verse thirteen, it
says, and David said, untoNathan, I have sinned against Yehua.
(31:11):
And Nathan said, unto David,Yohua also hath put away your sin,
Thou shalt not die. So hereyou have saying David asked for forgiveness,
and you will forgive him. Checkthis out, howbeit because the deed,
because this deed, thou hast givengreat occasion to the enemies of Yohua to
blaspheme. The child also that isborn unto you shall surely die. Thou
(31:37):
that sayest a man should not commitadultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou
that abhorest idols? Do you commitsacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of
the law. Through breaking the law, dishonorest thou God. For the name
of God is blasphing among the gentilesthrough you. As it is written,
this is a crazy exact sample.First off, you have David, how
(32:02):
merciful our father is to accept,to accept for the apology that David's making,
the repentance, to show him forgiveness, to give him mercy. But
his example gave great occasion for theenemies to blasphem God. The example of
(32:23):
you know not to commit adultery, but you did it. If you go
against idols, do you worship idols? This says what the questions he's asking.
Do you boast and talk about thelaw, but then through breaking the
law you dishonors Thou God. Ourexamples in this walk. We need to
(32:47):
be careful because our examples can givepeople to say blasphemy against our father,
to mock him, to rich him. You know how many people I said,
I talk to and they'll say,oh, I left it, I
left this church. I wanted nothingto do with God anymore because those people
(33:08):
they judged me and they said thisto me, and they did this to
me. Is it God's fault thatthe individuals are doing that, and it's
not God's fault, not at all. But because of their example, this
individual doesn't even want to read theword of God anymore. How important it
is our example, Because our example, we are responsible for giving the opportunity
(33:32):
for our the enemies of Yah,the enemies of God, the enemies of
the Messiah. We're given occasion forthe wicked to mock God, to blasphem,
blaspheme him, blaspheme his name,to reject Him, to exalt themselves
higher than him. This is whatblew my mind is that my example is
(33:59):
so in important, especially if weknow not to do something because it is
a sin, because the scripture sayssays it, and yet we do it
that can give occasion to someone toblasphemy. I can't tell you how many
times I myself. We have amerciful, merciful father. He will forgive
us if we come to him withall our heart and repent and turn away
(34:22):
from that sin. He will acceptus, just like he did here with
David. And David he didn't dono little thing. He didn't just commit
adultery. He killed a man.He killed a man deliberately, but the
father. He still got consequence forit, of course, but the Father
still forgave him, still forgave him, even though these things. I hear
(34:45):
all the time, individuals, Oh, you know, you say this,
but you know in the past youdid this, And I've heard people actually
want God doing that and say,oh, I have one person he was
an atheist, and he looked atme and he said, Wes, you
struggle with this, and you strugglewith this, and you always go through
hard times and you curse, andyou always end up saying, hey,
(35:09):
we should keep the sabbath, orhey we should follow this law. But
then you do opposite when you're withme. I was young then and I
didn't care at the time, butI would say certain things, and I
praise the Father that he still cameto me and still tried to win me,
and he won me. But atthat time I wasn't a good example.
(35:32):
Because of that example. I don'teven know what that person's doing anymore.
All I know is at the timeof them saying that, it made
him not want God even more evenmore. He's like, look at this
guy, he's a hypocrite. He'sa hypocrite. That's the best way to
put it. And what's crazy isthe Pharisees were hypocrites. They were boasting
(35:53):
with their lips, praying out loud, making sure their garments are huge at
the end there with their zet seatsand boasting about how good they are and
their righteousness. But their hearts arefar from the Father. That's in Matthew
chapter fifteen. Matthew chapter fifteen, verse seven, it tells us, you
(36:14):
hypocrites, Well, did Isaiah's prophesyof you, saying this? People draweth
not nearer unto me with their mouthand honoreth me with their lips, but
their heart is far from me.But in vain they worship me, teaching
for doctrines and the commandments of men. This is what the Pharisees were doing.
They're hypocrites, and because of theirexample, they're giving other the enemies
(36:37):
of God, the wicked nations, everyone around them. They're giving them occasion
to mock God, to blaspheme God, to reject Him, to deny his
power, to exalt themselves higher, just like how we read, just like
how we read in Second Samuel. In Second Samuel chapter twelve, verse thirteen
(37:00):
to fourteen, and then we readRoman chapter two, verse twenty two to
twenty four. How important it is, how important it is that are that
we we stay submitted, that westay praying, we stay searching the scripture,
and we stay studying. Because whatcan happen is by our example.
(37:21):
We give someone an occasion to rejectGod, we give them occasion to mock
him. And I know this iswhat the enemy wants one hundred percent.
The enemy wants an opportunity to takethat because he wants to exalt himself higher
than God. He wants to youto reject God. He wants to take
God's place. So this is whathe wants. So this is what blasphemy
(37:42):
is blaspheme to blaspheme? Is youbeing mocking him, rejecting his power?
Is you exalting yourself higher? Deliberatelydeliberately going against him? On purpose?
I'm going against him. An exampleof that is if you read something scripture
to tek not to do it,like for instance, like we read in
Romans chapter two versus twenty Romans chaptertwo, verse twenty two. Should a
(38:06):
man commit adult Should a man sayshould not commit adultree? But then you
commit adultree? That's right? Thereis perfect if you know the scripture says
not to do it, and yetyou go ahead and do it. It's
because you don't care. You donot care. You're denying it completely,
just like the Ezraelites. They deniedhis word because they didn't want him.
(38:27):
They wanted to do their own thing, their own thing. And this is
what blasphemy is. Blasphemy is sodangerous, it's absolutely dangerous. So I
hope this study was a blessing toyou, and I pray that you continue
and study these things out for yourself. There's so much more examples when it
comes to blasphemy. There's a lotmore examples. I used the best ones
(38:51):
that I liked because if I wentthrough all of them, this would be
a long study that we're having. But just off of the King of Assyria
and the Israelites, we can establishwhat blasphemy looks like and what these individuals
are doing, which is being highhanded, boldly going against God, denying
him, rejecting him, exalting themselves. That's what blasphemy is, that's what
(39:15):
encompasses and what's crazy is our example. Our example can give individuals occasion or
situations where they will blaspheme, blasphemeGod. Hence why it's so important,
so important that we watch examine ourselves, that we watch ourselves, whether we
(39:35):
be a good example or a badexample. We need to pay attention with
that. Hence why it just cameto my mind. I remember in the
scripture it says when you're correcting someone, right, he says, when you
look at the speck in your brother'seye, but look at the beam in
your eye. Take that beam outof your eye first before you go and
get the spec out of your brother'seye. Because what ends up happening is
(39:59):
people go, oh, my goodness, you're doing this. This is wrong,
and then the other person is lookingat you, going but you do
the same thing, or you dosomething worse than this. Get yourself.
Examine yourself first, consider yourself, just like a ha gi. It says,
to consider yourself, examine yourself. This is one of the biggest points
(40:22):
I can make in this study,is that we need to examine ourself more
because we have to be very carefulthat our example, our example can lead
others to blaspheme God. And becauseof that, even in my experience,
I've seen people turn away from Godand don't even want them because of that,
(40:43):
and sometimes we do it without knowingit. And that's why it's so
important to examine ourself, to bein prayer, to be studying the word,
so that as we read we canfind more truth, we can find
more examples, more things, toget a clearer understanding, so that we
can grow. And this is whatthe Father wants. So let's examine ourselves
so that we may not be foundreprobates. How important is that to understand?
(41:07):
And that's what blasphemy is, blasphemyagain, to be to exalt thyselves
high handedct rejecting God, denying him, mocking him, openly, mocking him,
worshiping other idols, denying him completelyin his word, deliberately going against,
to revile, to insult him onpurpose, abusively. So continue in
(41:34):
scripture, look it up. Don'tjust take my word for it. Go
look these things up, Go readthe examples. Learn more about this,
and may y'all be with you inyour study until next time. Bye,
