Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello everyone, and welcome to the big show. This is
Investing in Trading Live, sponsored by Trading Academy. If you're
our first time listener, thank you for stopping by. As always,
I am your host, Josh Lilquist, and we've got an
action packed show for you here today. Stay tuned, folks,
Bucket your seat belt. We got us market performance. We're

(00:24):
going to talk about the S and P five hundred
and now the NASDAC. We have some trade policy developments
over the past couple of weeks here sector shifts. We
have some stock specific news coming up ahead for you. Obviously,
we had some nice moves with Uber and Lyft. More
so in Uber, we got coinbased Nike Pellant here and

(00:46):
United Health Group we're going to talk about here today
and a possible maybe a little bit of a chat
about Ched Powell and the old July rate cut. But
as we know, our sponsor, Trading Academy, on their twenty
eighth year tea should people just like you, how to invest,
how to trade, how to get in the stock market.
If you're brand new to these markets, or if you're

(01:07):
a seasoned investor but you're looking for a little bit
more consistency. They have strategies and techniques and concepts on
how to make smart investing decisions. And yes, folks, Trading
Academy is a brick and mortar academy that trains these skills,
because trading and investing is actually a skill, it's not

(01:27):
just knowledge. That's what we're doing for you here today.
But we have a brick and mortar place right here
in Bloomington, and we have locations across the metro where
we're hosting free investing and trading classes to get you
the insights, the dues and the domes the financial markets
to make those smart investing decisions. Let's get going, folks.
As we know, the S and P five hundred and

(01:48):
the Nasdaq hit record highs this week, but they did
face some volatility. On July first, the SMP five hundred
slipped after a strong second quarter which actually was up
new really eleven percent, and that was driven by a
tech stock slump and uncertainty over trade policies. By the
second the S and P five rows about a half

(02:09):
sorry point five percent to a new high and obviously
new highs on wet Thursday again with the dal Jones
up point zero six percent and the Naszac up point
nine to four percent. That was also fueled by a
tech rally led by Tesla and chip stocks. We're going
to talk about Tesla here in a little bit, probably
the second segment, and really a stronger than expected June

(02:33):
jobs report on July third that boosted futures. We're going
to talk about futures coming up here in the next
few segments here as well. It's another asset class for
trading and investing. But that was really easy labor market
concerns obviously, it seems like we've been talking about this
over the past well since probably November, but we have
trade policy developments. Markets react to President Trump's trade moves.

(02:58):
He actually can un sold the talks with Canada that
caused some volatility, but then later announced a trade deer
with Vietnam, applying a twenty percent tariff on imports, which
was actually down from the forty six percent proposed. So
what happened there is it lifted stocks like Nike which

(03:18):
rely on Vietnamese imports. Uncertainty persists with looming tariff deadlines,
and that'll be coming up on July eighth and ninth,
So we did have some sector shifts. Investors shifted from
cyclical stock. I can't even speak here today cyclical stocks
to consumer staples. You know, materials, healthcare, you know XLP, XLB, XLV.

(03:45):
Those are ETFs or exchange traded funds. They all increased
over the past week or so. Energy funds saw one
billion dollar inflows, and really that was the highest sense
October of twenty twenty three. As I mentioned earlier, we
do have some stock specific news Tesla. We're going to

(04:05):
dive into that a little bit further, probably the second segment,
but that rallied after a strong Q two to delivery
numbers despite a Musk Trump dispute impacting that stock. Briefly,
I think we all know what happened. There was a
little interesting on the old Twitter airwaves. I don't even

(04:25):
know if they call it airwaves these days, the innerweb waves.
Let's call it that. Uber and Lyft they actually both
fell two percent after a downgrade to hold by kind
of corrid ingenuity. So Coinbase also tops really the S
and P five hundred performer in June. It was probably
one of the number one performers in June, and that

(04:47):
was driven by a crypto related legislative win. So they've
been talking a lot about crypto and is it here
to stay? I believe it is. That is my very
biased opinion. Nike dropped two percent, beating Q. Actually they
beat Q two earnings. But so it's interesting how when
you see earnings that were good but the night but

(05:07):
the stock dropped Nike and that was actually also due
to a twelve percent sales decline. Polunteer they partner with
a nuclear company for AI driven nuclear plants development, and
that also boosted most or other AI and chip stock

(05:28):
chips as well stocks as well. So that is also
a developing you know, news news way there. So some
of the recommended stocks that you see out there, I mean,
you see a lot of talk from all the talking
heads out there. They're talking about United Health Group, Uber
and everything, and it's interesting. The cool thing here is

(05:49):
Uber actually declined over two percent, but they're actually saying
that's a buye Well interesting they say that. Typically they're
saying bye after it goes up. But you have to
look at a price art to be able to make
your financial decisions. And that's what we're going to talk
a lot about here today, is how to utilize proper
data and factual data to make your investing and trading decisions.

(06:12):
As I mentioned earlier, Trading Academy on their twenty eighth
year teaching people the skills of trading and investing just
like you. So if you're a person that is looking
for information in that financial literacy, is going to take
a hands on approach to be able to build the
skill to do that. That's what Trading Academy does. As

(06:33):
I mentioned early at the beginning of the show, kicking
off the show, a brick and mortar academy that trains
these skills. And it's not just stocks, it's also futures
options for x, the crypto market investing, which would be
like your retirement accounts, your four to one k is,
your iras, but also the trading side, and that's kind
of like the sexy part of it. Everybody wants to

(06:53):
talk about being a trader, and that's really all about
having the comfort or the flexibility to do things when
you want and how you want. As far as the scale. Now,
we're going to talk a lot about that in these
free trading and investing classes. There's a lot of opportunity
with these markets right now. As I mentioned, uber coin

(07:15):
based Nike Palanteer. These stocks are looking pretty good right now,
but you could be buying them or selling them and
their strategies and concepts to profit in both directions. So
I'd like to invite you to a free trading and
investing class to learn what these techniques are, these concepts,
gain that financial literacy back. There's a lack thereof over

(07:36):
the UIT and United States, and I want to invite
you to actually combat that and be able to build
these skills to make smart investing decisions. So if you're driving,
you might want to pull over because I'm going to
give a text line to text in for some free
investing and trading workshop tickets right here at the Academy
and all across the metro. Just text the word investing
to the number two ten two ten and that'll be

(07:58):
for two seats for a free investing and trading workshop.
Text investing to the number two ten two ten, or
go to Trading Academy dot com and you can pick
your own seats and date there. As I said, folks,
we've got a lot more to discuss. We're going to
dive into these stocks I mentioned earlier, talk about these
other markets. This is Josh with investing in trading live.
We will be right back
