C'è stato un momento, sul finale della lunghissima stagione 1945-1946, in cui il Grande Torino era ormai ad un passo dal cedere il titolo di Campione d'Italia ai rivali di sempre della Juventus. Tra un Derby perso e un'umiliazione subita a Milano, travolti 6-2 dall'Inter, i granata erano considerati ormai fuori dalla corsa per il secondo Scudetto consecutivo, il primo del dopoguerra. Questo è un episodio speciale di Invincibili, registrato a braccio dopo la mezzanotte del 4 maggio 2023 a Superga, di fronte alla lapide commemorativa del Grande Torino, a esattamente 74 anni dalla tragedia. Un momento intimo e necessario per me, da condividere con chi ama e chi sta seguendo con passione questa storia.
A Guerra conclusa, torna finalmente il Campionato di Calcio, seppure in una formula inedita: per la stagione 1945-1946, il Grande Torino affronterà prima un Campionato dell'Alta Italia per ottenere la qualificazione alla Fase Finale Nazionale. La squadra granata si presenta ai nastri di partenza come una squadra ricca di talento, ma ancora da affinare e da sgrezzare, tanto che in molti osservatori non la vedono come la favorita...
