(00:09):
Welcome to the Brett Davis Podcast.Wello, everybody. I'm very honored to
have m Teresa Lawrence, who's anaward winning author, international speaker, leadership
coach. She's a founder and thepresident of the Trueness Project, which is
a nonprofit dedicated to the empowering childrenand adults to cherish their their imagination.
(00:35):
Did I say right, their imagination? Oh? Okay, maybe do you
need my glasses? I was gonnasay, maybe it's a new word that
you've invented, because sometimes people thatare very creative develop their own words and
they kind of, you know, what a phrase what they do. I'm
all about getting people to have funand to be authentic and to write their
(00:57):
stories. I mean, I'm allabout storytelling and having people share their truth.
So you've you have a lot oftime to be creator because Wyoming,
where you're at, Daniel, Wyomingis a very beautiful, open area,
and I think that the more aperson that's creative is that environment, the
(01:18):
more they're able to envision and create. That's just my take. What are
your thoughts on that? That's exactlywhat happened. We moved to the middle
of nowhere and I was formerly anattorney, and I stopped lawyering because we're
in a new state. And yousee the little covered wagon behind me.
(01:40):
I bought a covered wagon, truestory, and I made it into my
office and as my husband works athome via the Internet, I sat in
the covered wagon and I said, okay, what's next. And what happened
was creative ideas left and right.I actually have a petition online to turn
the covered wagon into an imaginariation. That's true. I love it. It's
(02:02):
out there. So things happened happenedfor a reason, and we moved here.
And when you have time alone, you might as well, you know,
figure out who you are and whatyou want to share with the world.
And for me, it was justa creative explosion. I wrote a
children's book, I wrote a leadershipbook, and then I came up with
(02:23):
my butterfly event. I said, the world needs peace, and this is
my way of doing it. Becausewhen people go through transformation, they figure
out who they are, they livein truth, and then they find peace
and that's how you spread it.So you are correct, sir. Living
in the middle of nowhere does getyou. So the for you, what
(02:43):
does the butterfly signify? True transformation. I think, honestly, the butterfly
is the quintessential a symbol of transformation, and that is the story of humanity
if you if you think about it, you know we don't. There are
people that think they know everything, and the truth is, no one knows
(03:04):
everything. We're all in a processof discovery. And one moment you have
an opinion and you are so setthat you are so right, and then
something happens in your life that opensup your mind and you are now open
to the possibility that you may notbe right, that there might be a
(03:25):
better way of doing something. Sowith the butterfly, the butterfly doesn't know,
and it's going to turn into abutterfly, and you don't know when
your life is going to change.Nobody knew about COVID, nobody knows when
people are going to die around them, and things happen in an instant and
everything you know, everything you have, might be taken away, and you
(03:47):
change, you grow, you learn, and the butterfly, for me,
is that symbol of becoming, becoming, because that's what we're doing. We're
all becoming constantly something better, andthat's what the butterfly symbolizes. It is
the symbol of my nonprofit and itis it is truly a most beautiful representation
(04:17):
of what humanity is going through nowbecause so many like I feel like we're
being pummeled. Right. We gothrough COVID, and then we go through
war, and then we go throughall these natural disasters. So we have
to realize that we can't stay inthe past. There's a new path opening
(04:38):
up and we have to get onboard, and we have to let go
of the past, let go ofthe fear, let go of the anger,
let go of the jealousy, becauseit doesn't serve us. It's in
the past. So that's that's whereI am with that. How much do
you think social media has been thedouble edged sword with not allowing people to
transform? It is double edged sword, and this is why social media is
(05:01):
a fabulous platform to express creativity andyour opinions. And there are many people
who who never give we're never givenan their truth, their their opinions,
and so social media does give themthat platform. But it's much like everything
else. It's like you know, like in leadership, they call it the
(05:24):
drift, right, Uh, itdoesn't really matter where you get it from.
But social media. If you ifyou plug into a certain mindset,
it's like being brainwashed watching TV.You know, it's like depending on the
network you watch, like you haveto you have to watch with an open
mind and say, Okay, that'swhat they're saying, but what's the truth.
(05:45):
And it's sad to say because thereare very few people that just report
facts. Facts are boring. Nobodywatches facts. I don't think anybody's doing
I don't think anybody is doing that. Actually, I don't think they're doing
it anymore. And that and thatis sad. But for your question about
social media, it could go bothways. It's true about regular media and
(06:06):
it's true about press. And thatis the reason we need leadership courses and
leadership training for children at an earlyage, because otherwise they just go with
the drift. They don't get thefact that they can say no, that's
not right. I don't agree.I'm out of here. You could say,
(06:27):
we could call that conditioning of thesheep. Yes, right, I
know, sheep. I'm in Wyoming. Maybe that's the next book. Sorry.
So you have an event coming upthat sounds spectacular. Tell us a
little bit about it and how itcame about. Well, when I was
(06:53):
in the covered wagon and I keptsaying, well, what do we need?
What do we need? What dowe need? And I kept on
being pulled to the butterfly. Thereit is. I said, well,
I'm going through this huge transformation. The world is going through this huge transformation.
What does it need? And thenall those horrible things started happening.
(07:15):
I think we have two wars, maybe more. Who knows how many wars
we've got going on. There mighteven be secret wars I don't know anything
about. But the vibe is youturn on the news, and it is
it is the drift. It isfear, Fear your neighbor, fear the
person across from you. And itis my personal opinion that war begets war.
(07:36):
You know, if you live inanger and you share that anger,
you're gonna you're gonna make somebody angerand they're going to share their anger.
And so all I wanted was toshare peace. And I do not have
the gravitas to simply ask the worldto pray for peace. But I'm asking
you all now, on June twentyninth, sit down and pray for peace.
(08:00):
You do not know what's going tohappen, and there's something called the
butterfly effect. You know, abutterfly flaps its wings across the world,
and at the other end, somebodyfeels that if we all come together and
simply send a loving thought around theplanet, we can change the trajectory of
(08:22):
what's going on. And so Ithought to myself, I don't have the
gravitas to pull this off, butI do know what it's like for children
to have fun and to play. And when they do that, and they
don't know that they're supposed to hateeach other, they are just enjoying the
moment. And so I said, what can I do that will bring parents,
(08:43):
children and just people who want tohave a good time together. And
so I said, I'm going tohost the largest gathering of people dressed as
butterflies in history. And people willcome and they will play, and they'll
remember the joy that they had beingsilly, giving permission to themselves and to
(09:03):
other and to others to enjoy lifeand to share joy. And I'm making
it and I'm doing this event asa prayer, you know, to promote
world peace. And it's a worldwideevent. The actual in person event is
in Jackson, but I have Butterflycaptains. Oh, I love that butterfly
captains around the world and they're allgoing to have butterfly parties and they're all
(09:28):
going to pray for peace. Sofor me, I'm giving myself the gift
of my dream. I am hostinga worldwide community building event and I'm spreading
peace across this planet. And Imay not have the gravitas to do like
this huge thing, but I knowthat there are more people on this earth
(09:48):
like me than there are people whowant war. And those are those are
the caretakers, Those are the peoplethat are creative. They are the people
that speak their mind and do allof the work in silence that nobody else
would step up to do. AndI'm honoring those people, and I'm honoring
the planet, and I'm asking youall to join me on June twenty ninth.
(10:13):
Amazing. Do we have a clipthat we can kind of show?
Oh? Yes, it's an invitationto join the event. I think this
is great step into the enchanting worldof the Grand Butterfly Gathering. On June
twenty ninth, twenty twenty four, led by m Teresa Lawrence, this extraordinary
(10:33):
event will unfold at Davy Jackson Fieldand Jackson, Wyoming. Whether you're near
or far, you can join theflutter verse virtually from anywhere across the globe.
Together, let's make history by shatteringthe world record for the largest number
of people gathered dressed as butterflies.Don't miss out. Secure your spot today
at Butterflymarch dot com and become apart of this magical experience. Phenomenal.
(11:01):
Who's the gentleman I keep seeing inthat commercial? Oh, I don't know
those those those people, I don't, I don't. We do have,
we do have incredible people going tothis event. Well, I'm sure our
master of ceremony is doctor Lauren MichaelsHarris, and he is an incredible leadership
(11:24):
coach. He is an entrepreneur, and he's a philanthropist and he is so
fun. And when I thought ofOkay, well how am I going to
motivate the crowd, I said,he's going to do it. And his
birthday is on July fourth, andI signed him up to represent the Trueness
(11:45):
Project and to hand out little butterflies. So he was so happy that he'll
be doing the whole uh you know, Western experience with us. But he's
he's going to be there. Coachken Dy Foster is giving the keynote speech
and that's all about transformation. Andthat speech is more spiritual because he's talking
(12:09):
about a planetary ascension, because transformationcan mean many things to different people,
and so he's bringing more of thisspirituality into it. And then for our
non denominational prayer, So for allof you, what is non denominational prayer,
Well, it seems to me thatwe all believe in a higher power
(12:31):
and we can call it whatever wecall it. And so on that day,
I want you to say a prayerto your God of your understanding,
to the God of your understanding, and that prayer will be heard worldwide.
And so our non denominational prayer isbeing done by Jessa Carter, who is
(12:52):
a best selling author and known worldwideas the Peaceful Billionaire. And the reason
it's such a match that she dothe prayer is that my nonprofit teaches financial
fitness and in wealth consciousness. Thereis around the world there is a belief
(13:15):
by many people that they are notworthy of wealth, and it is our
gift, it is our God givengift to live in abundance and enjoy and
in health and to enjoy this beautifullife that we have in every way possible.
And my nonprofit teaches wealth consciousness. It goes through the steps, you
(13:39):
know. I have a set listof books that the kids read and they
are blown away when I ask them, do you have a budget? Do
you save ten percent each month? How do you do this? And it's
really it's so joyous to see thesekids go oh oh, and then when
they finally start saving for the firsttime, it is it is phenomenal.
(14:03):
It's like it's like money has justhas just arrived on the scene all over
the place. But Jessa Carter isa wealth coach and so she's the perfect
person to lead that prayer because itis a prayer of peace and a prayer
of abundance for the planet. Andso she'll be there and then there we
(14:24):
have a whole bunch of prizes forbest homemade butterfly costume, best pet Costume,
best poetry. It should be reallyfun and we've got face painters and
uh and we have a DJ,so that part is going to be fantastic.
Is going to be fantastic. Thisis your your Is this your first
(14:46):
event that you've ever done like that? Yes, this is my first event.
I had no idea what I wasdoing. I just wrote Butterfly March,
and then I got scared out ofmy mind and I said that's not
gonna help any and so then Ijust visualized the march. This is true
story, right, and then thenext step kept coming in and the next
(15:09):
step. And what's strange and beautifuland amazing for you guys watching, because
it's true. Leadership is what Iteach. Every time I needed money,
it arrived, because putting an eventlike this together is not easy and it
takes a lot. And what happenedwas every time I needed something and I
(15:31):
said, how am I going todo this, it was like, wow,
it happened. And I want tothank the La Tribune for being my
lead media partner because it would notbe happening without them. And they're going
to have the red carpet there, and the town of Jackson Hall for opening
up their hearts to me and myidea. But really, it is my
(15:54):
first event, and I'm now likeI'm planning out like five different events.
Life so cool. We're going todo this, and we're going to do
this. Your your energy is infectiousand your passion comes across and you're doing
all the great things that are neededright now. So I have no doubt
(16:15):
that your event's going to be veryinspiring and successful for everybody that's involved.
Oh thank you so much. Kensee it and I feel it. And
maybe there'll be a new children's bookthat comes out of this. Oh that's
oh, oh, I have toshare. Yes, we have a book
(16:37):
for the event. So when Iwas planning this, obviously I'm an overachiever.
We went a whole group of uswent to Costa Rica to set the
intention for the event. And sowe set the intention for peace and love
to be spread around the planet. And one of the people there was Patti
Sadler, who runs the publishing divisionfor for the La Tribune, and she
(17:04):
said, we're going to turn thisinto a book, and so we got
I believe. Now we have twentyauthors to write a book, and we're
having book launched the night before atthe Snowking Resort. But this is the
funniest part of the book launch. When it gets dark. I bought butterfly
outfits that glow in the dark.Oh wow, wow, that's so we're
(17:26):
going to press through town. It'sfun. People do you have you have
an outfit for a guy that's abouttwo hundred and forty pounds, and so
I have an outfit for everyone.Do they have bald butterflies? Yes they
do? Okay, I think Iknew my husband with hair for a day.
(17:55):
Well, you know, I Iwish we could find a way to
get to to I've always wont togo to. I believe you can,
and I don't know if we canget there on the twenty ninth. But
I mean, how long is thatdrive? Sarah? From San Diego?
Pretty far, but if you goto Salt Lake, it's a four and
(18:15):
a half hour drive. And that'sthe cheapest way because right now flying into
Jackson is getting kind of pricey.Got so you would have to fly if
you flew in, if you've drovein or flew in, the way to
go would probably be fly into SaltLake, fly into Salt Lake or Idaho
Falls. Salt Lake is bitter bigger. I order if it'd be cheaper to
(18:38):
fly from from Tijuana from Mexico,I don't know. I can't answer that
question. I mean, we're righton the right. I know you're right
at the border. You could goacross yeah, it might be cheaper,
but we'll see if we can tryto find a way. We're not promising.
I know it's contagious. I hada talk show with somebody and she
(18:59):
became a butterfly captain and the nextthing I know, she's putting on this
stuff. Right, she's putting onthe butterfly. Actually, you think that's
very nice. It's very beautiful. It is, so I just have to
say that, leave it, leaveit on. It looks it looks so
good on you. It's are youthinking about a butterfly tattoo? Maybe I
got the temporary tattoos for everyone toput on while they're there. Yes,
(19:23):
you don't want to get a youdon't want to get a permanent butterfly,
it says, Uh, I'm notthere yet. I think I'm one of
the few people on the planet thatdoesn't have a tattoo. I don't know.
Well, Sarah and I don't haveone either. We haven't found anything
that we could put on there becausewe're so creative that as soon as we
get on, like we've got totake it off, put something else on.
(19:45):
We've got another. We got anotheridea for a tattoo. That's exactly
how I feel. Yet everyone Iknow except you two has a tattoo.
Yeah, I know, I know. I mean I think the art works
beautiful, and what better thing thanto have than a tattoo. I mean,
I know a gentleman that every timehe has an event, he has
a tattoo artist and he gives freetattoos and they put the tattoo of the
(20:07):
event some I don't know what itwould be, whatever it is he's having
with the date on it. Soyou get a free tattoo and it's a
pretty nice tattoo and it's good. It's good advertising for his next event.
I don't know how he works thatout, but interesting. I appreciate you
being on the show. Is thereanything else you'd want to say or share
with your audience? Because I thinkthis thing is doing no pun intended.
(20:34):
I think this event is going totake off. So the book is called
The Grand Butterfly Gathering, Wings haveChange for a transformed World. And when
I do start speaking afterwards, uh, the theme of my talk is going
to be how to give wings toa movement, so you called it it's
(20:55):
taking flight. I do want toshare with those that are listening, that
are going to Jackson. I firmlybelieve in creativity and for everybody to do
their own thing with their butterfly outfit. However, for the world record,
the official adjudicator has requested that arms, torso and legs must match in fabric
(21:18):
and color. So it's a goodthing Jackson is a ski town because I'm
asking everybody to bring their long underwearfrom the skiing. I'm going to have
extra outfits because I'm very competitive andI'm not going down without account. I'm
going to have outfits available for everyone, and there's going to be a fenced
(21:38):
off area towards the end, andthe adjudicator is going to actually click.
He's going to as people will goin, and then we need stewards.
Every fifty people, the steward hasto follow around to make sure they don't
take off their outfits until number fourhundred crosses that line. And when number
(22:00):
four hundred crosses the line, wewill have achieved a world record that has
wings. So that's my final statement. Fantastic. It's been very nice chatting
with you. I look forward tohaving you in the studio live and talking
more on how we can collaborate. And I know you're going to do very
(22:22):
well. This is for the rightreasons and the right attention and attention,
and I know it's very well neededand we should be at peace and we
should not have wars going on inthe country of the world right now exactly.
Thank you so much for having me. Okay, everybody, let's support
m Teresa Lawrence. Okay, thisevent's coming up. It's going to be
on June in Jackson, June twentyninth, Jackson, Hull. Butterflymarch dot
(22:48):
com to register. Break a Wing, take care of yourself. Thank you.
