Hi, everyone, welcome to anotherepisode of It's About Damn Crime, where

(00:21):
two best friends get together and talkabout what Justine this week? Greed?
There you go, a good one. Andrew Crime? Right, Andrew Crime.
Yeah. So, Hi'm Britty,I'm Justine and you're listening to episode
one twenty five. Wow day twentyfive. Yeah. Now, if you

(00:45):
guys are newcomers, what we dohere is that we primarily focus on cases
featuring people of color. We arenot a very serious storytelling podcast. We
do like to make inappropriate jokes hereand there. We have dark sentense of
humor. So if that's not yourtype of podcast or a true crime podcast,

(01:07):
thanks for coming. But hey,we're not your cup of tea.
Sorry, move on. It's okay. You're not gonna do is go leave
a one star review. That's whatyou're not gonna do. Please don't do
that, because I'm giving you afull warning of what we're about ahead of
time. So it's like, hmm, you know what you're getting yourself into.
You've been warned, You've been you'vebeen warned. Um, so anything

(01:30):
before we get started. Yes,I have a great story. Oh okay,
So last night I was working onthis episode. Laying in my bed
and I was typing, and Ihad my bedroom window wide open, right
and it was night. It wasdark already, So I'm my bedroom window

(01:52):
wide open, and then my blind'slike halfway open, like pull all the
way up because they don't they're broken, they don't turn, so I have
to open them. So I'm sittinghere typing and then I could hear like
something clearly walking across the grass inthe yard. What is it? Tell

(02:12):
me? And I like, Idon't know. I froze and I was
like like, am I really hearingthis? Yeah? And then I could
hear and then when I stopped, like it kind of stopped, and I
was like looking, but because Ihad my light onto my room, I
could not see outside. Oh shit, like the glare so for the reflection,
Yeah, yeah exactly. So Ijumped up. I turned the light

(02:34):
off, and then I looked outthe window. Well, I shut my
blinds right away because I was like, yeah, I can't. I can't
be seeing someone standing outside my windowright now. Yeah, how scary with
that going to read my life?So I shut the blinds and then I
was like looking, I couldn't seeanything, So I text my aunt because
my little cousins were here, andI was like, I don't want to
scare them, like yeah, AndI was like and like telling myself like,

(02:57):
oh, it's got to be alike a cat. Like there's a
cat it wanders around the neighborhood andthe cat's the cap. But it was
like it was like, you gottahave some weight to you to be making
that much crunching in the in thegrass, right. So I was like
fuck. So I text my aunt. I was like, come here really
quick, like I don't want toscare the kids. So she came over
and we're like looking out the window. I'm like, I can't see anything.
And then we had the dog insidethe house already, so it was

(03:20):
like she wasn't going to bark atsomething happening on the side of the house.
She wasn't out there. Yeah.So I ran out to the backyard
and I went to go look,and I didn't see anything. But I
was like, Damn, after allthese years of doing this true crime podcast,
Okay, I'm still a dumbass overhere in my one story house,
chilled it my room with the lightodd, with the window wide, fuck
it open. Looks wrong with you? And guess what, it's wide open

(03:44):
again right now? Oh my god, but it's daytime. Yeah. There
are so many nights that I sleepwith it open, like I opened it
because it gets hotter. Are youtrying to get murdered? I think I
am? I think because like inmy head, I'm like my bed's like
directly in front of the window,so like if someone's gonna come in through
the window, I'm gonna hear it, like I'm right here. But are

(04:08):
you really the yeah, I meanthe house, like the window I am
two is kind of high, solike you would have to like, but
if you're a heavy sleeper. I'mnot really a heavy sleeper though, but
when you get your when you getdeep into a sleep, anybody can be
a heavy sleeper. That's true. That's true. And then by the time

(04:30):
you wake up, you're murdered.I'm already dead. You're dead about me?
Yeah, And our last episode wouldbe about you about me? Yeah?
And the best the best part aboutthis whole entire story is that years
ago, there was a peeping tonguethat lived down the street and everyone would
catch them in his win in theirwindows all the time, watching them change

(04:53):
and shit and I don't know ifthat family still lives there, whatever happened
to him, I don't Oh mygod, what if he's arrested and then
recently really and then he's been setfree. Yeah back, I don't know,
dude, and he's trying to watchyou. Who could be Well,
I mean, close your window atnight. I don't know what you're doing

(05:14):
with your life. Well, it'slike it's getting cold now, so I
can just keep it like closed moreoften. But it's just because like sometimes
it was like ninety one degrees yesterday, so it got fucking hot in here.
So I was like, let meopen this window, let some fresh
air in. And then sorry, guys, I'm making noises my makeup.
Get a fan and then I well, yeah, yeah that's true. But

(05:36):
anyways, more, all of thestory is, it doesn't matter how much
true crime you go over in yourlife, you still do dumb shit.
Yeah, like leave your bedroom windowit open, clearly at the same trying
to get murdered at night. Doas I say, not as I do.
Yeah. Well, um, justa heads up, guys, this

(06:40):

do Thanksgiving early with him. Andhe's like, well, do like just
a turkey something. I was like, I can't have Thanksgiving but it's like
the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'm like, I can't have Thanksgiving to dinners two
weekends in a row. What's wrongwith you? You know what? You've
called yourself a normal person. You'reclearly not a normal person. Just san

(07:00):

(10:07):

awesome, all right, Thanks Quip, Thanks Quip. Julie Kibuwishi was born

(10:35):
in south southern California. I wasgonna say South Carolina for some reason.
I don't know why, but shewas born in southern California to two Japanese
immigrant parents. She was a dancer, and she attended Orange County School of
Arts during her high school years. Now, everyone who knew Julie said that
she was the nicest, caring person, and even her jazz instructor said that

(11:01):
Julie was beautiful, She was graceful, dynamic, she was strong, she
was emotional. The jazz instructor evensaid that Julie's kindness was really immeasurable and
that everybody loved Julie. Julie wasvery compassionate, warm, and talented as

(11:22):
well. She's very fun to watchon stage. How nice, I know,
right, I wish someone would saysuch nice things about me. Right,
If anybody were to say anything aboutyou, they'd be like, oh
she's a bitch. She was loudand bitchy, and and she watched Friends
all the time, sometimes a newgirl. Okay, I've been on a

(11:43):
new girl kick. I'm friends detoxinebecause they're gonna get rid of it.
Yeah, and that Warner Brothers serviceis like ridiculously expensive, so no,
thank you, jeez. Now,after she graduated high school, Julie attended
Suncoast Community College, which is whereshe met Sam Hare. Sam was born

(12:03):
on May twenty nine, nineteen eightythree. He was super handsome and a
military man, just be compared toBradley Cooper, which she did. There
was one picture he could looked likeBradley Cooper, but I don't really think
so. Yeah, he was stillgood looking guy. Yeah, very good
looking guy, saying he wasn't BradleyCooper. So, after serving some time

(12:26):
in Afghanistan, he came home andwanted to pursue a degree. But just
like so many of our veterans,he returned home and then was suffering from
PTSD. Now, Julie was notonly a good, fun carrying dancer,
she was also very smart. Sobefore we all start thinking this is a

(12:48):
dating story gone wrong, it isn'tno, not one of those this week.
No, no, not this time. Julie and Sam were just friends.
They met in an anthropology class whereSam asked Julie if she could tutor
him, and so she, youknow what, she tutored the funk out

(13:09):
of him. M hmm, somuch so that he got an A in
that anthropology class. Way to go, Julie. Now Sam's dad, this
is funny. Sam's dad had askedSam, you know, if anything was
going on between him and Julie, but Sam confirmed it like that the two

(13:35):
of them were just friends and thatJulie was like a kid's sister to him.
Um. I think because she wastwenty three and he was twenty six.
I feel like that that has nothingto do with at their age.
It's that he had already seen awar, and I feel like he's probably
very mature for his twenty Yeah.Yeah, And I was like, oh,

(13:56):
she's just a young girl, youknow what I mean, Like,
yeah, he's seen some shit andshe probably has this very like innocent look
on the world. Yes, andhe is probably I mean, this is
a little fucked up. He didhave PTSD, but yeah, no romance

(14:16):
in their relationship. No romantic platonicfriendship. Yes. So On May Tony
first, twenty ten, Sam's dad, Steve went to his apartment to look
for him because Sam was supposed tohave come over to his parents' house for
the weekend, but he never showedup, and then he wasn't answering his
phone, which was not normal behaviorfor Sam. No, so when he

(14:37):
arrived at Sam's apartment, he enteredand then this happened. And here is
your trigger warning, you cry babies. We're going to play a nine one
one phone call. Okay, ready, yeah, okay, what's going on?

(15:00):
There's a what a good ball bydead body? Are you sure,
sir? The floor cold? Okay, hold on, just gonna Is it
someone that you know? Sir?You a lot of lobal? Does your

(15:20):
son know who it is? Youthought you? Okay? Do you know
where your son is? So Idon't go clall, okay, just keep
reading for me, sir. Okay, we're in the apartment. Issue the
bread room, get good, substructionalactivity, keep dead blood Here is blood

(15:46):
from her head? Yeah, honey, I don't know what the blo Okay,
just staying there. Okay, itis, but it's clear it is
I'm still here, so okay. Then they involved someone else in that call,
and I didn't feel the need toinvolve them in this episode. So

(16:07):
so if you guys couldn't understand whatwas happening in that n I'm a one
call. Steve Hair found a bodyin Sam's bed, and the body was
Julie. Her clothes had been tornfrom her body and she was laying face
down on his bed with a gunshotwound to the back of her head.

(16:30):
She was also wearing a tiara becauseearlier in the day her brother's fiance had
asked her to be a bridesmaid inthe wedding and had gifted her the tiara
as a bridesmaid present. She alsohad the words fuck you all yours written

(16:51):
on the back of her shirt. Now, Steve said that his first thought
was what have you done? Sam? Which I think if that was me,
I that would be my first thoughttoo, right, Yeah, like
that was so bad, like yeah, and then Sam was missing, along

(17:14):
with his car and his passport,so yeah, you would think what did
you do? You know? Sopolice issued a bulletin looking for him and
told everyone to be extremely careful becausehe was a suspect in a murderer and
was ex military, so he couldvery well have weapons on him. Back
at Sam's apartment, Julie's phone wasfound in her purse and there were very

(17:37):
many texts from Sam on it.The first said quote helping Dan then headed
to Folks for weekend, And youguys are probably wondering, who the fuck
is Dan? Who's this guy?Well? Dan wasniac with Sam's downstairs neighbor,

(18:00):
and Sam had gone to help himmove some some heavy shit at the
theater on base where Dan had aperformance that night. But then later that
night, Sam text truly again andsaid, can you come over tonight at
midnight? Alone? Very upset?Need to talk. I don't know if

(18:25):
I'd be going anywhere alone at midnight. Well, I guess if you're.
If you text me were like, can you come over? I'm having some
troubles, I'd be like, okay. But if you said come alone,
that might Yeah, those are Iwould never ask you. I would never
ask you to come alone at midnight, specifically those words yeah the fun house.
Would I come with Yeah? Imean if you come with someone else,

(18:47):
you'd be like, hey, I'mwith so and so. Is that
okay? If they can't you know, h, I wouldn't ask you to
come alone. It's kind of susyou know. It's a little sess for
sure. And then he sent afollow up text saying, geez, this,
I really just want to talk.I need someone I trust, which
why are you so? Why areyou begging? Anyways, Julie responded,

(19:10):
I'm here for you, like family. I wonder if, like in the
middle of the night, she waslike, oh, this is like inappropriate,
so she felt the need to belike, yeah, I'm going to
be there for you like your family, you know, like I don't know.
So the running theory was that Samgot upset about something, maybe there
had been some sort of love trianglehappening right that he hadn't possibly been drinking

(19:33):
because I found beard in his houselike oh, oh, God forbid.
He invited Julie over to talk, but because he was suffering from PTSD,
which is why we mentioned this earlier, he snapped and wound up killing her.
And I think the thing that sealedthis whole theory and for police was
that Sam had been arrested and triedfor murder before. When Sam was young,

(20:00):
he was accused of learning a friendinto an empty parking lot where the
kid was beaten and killed. Itwas some sort of gang shit, you
know, yes, but Sam wasacquitted. But I mean, come on
right there, like, who wouldn'tthink that Sam, that Sam killed Julie?
You know what I mean? Like, who wouldn't think that? Yeah?

(20:22):
Yeah, that's of course where youwould automatically go to you right,
Like I would like be shocked ifthey were like, oh wait, let's
get some more ducks in a row. Yeah, like right there, I'd
be like, Sam fucking did it. So the Monday after Juliu was murdered
and Sam disappeared, his debit cardsstarted showing activity in Long Beach, California,

(20:44):
first at at ATM and then ata pizza place, and then at
several more ATMs. But when policegot the ATM video footage, the person
pulling money out of Sam's account wasnot Sam. It was some random kid
that no one knew who he was. Yeah, we all know that when
you have stupid kids doing shit foryou, stupid shit happens, right,

(21:07):
which is what happens in this case. I mean this kid, this kid
was ordering pizza and then having itdelivered to his home. So a poor's
police knew where to find him.And this kid's name was Wesley Freylick and
he was only sixteen years old, little baby, like we said, stupid

(21:30):
kid. Yeah. Now, policewere looking for a murder suspect, so
they sent full on squat out tothis kid's mom's house, helicopter, helicopters
and all, and they got himand took his ass out to the front
lawn. Yeah. And at firstWesley had that tough guy exterior, but

(21:56):
then when they told him that he'sinvolved himself off in a murder, he
started crying like a big little babyand then started talking, this is why
you don't involve kids in your bullshit. Yeah I can't do that. Oh
my god, I always up Yeah, like they can't help it. Oh.
Man. So it turns out Westley'smom, okay his Westley's mom's friend

(22:23):
that she had met doing theater, had asked him to use the deborit card
to pull out money from Sam's accountbecause Sam owed him money and because I
said theater, you guys should knowwho this friend is. Wow. It
was Sam's downstairs neighbor, Daniel DanDan the man, dude. I have

(22:45):
a running theory that Daniels are crazy. We've already talked about it. We've
talked about it. Oh my god. Okay. Anyways, so it's not
just your theory just it's mine too. It's it's like real life now,
like I think we have enough Danielsto confirm this theory. All all Daniels

(23:06):
need to be locked away, especiallythat especially that weird kid for a New
Orleans. Um he was the worstone in them all. Okay, so
um okay. So Westley said thatDaniel had presented him with the folder of
documents showing him that it was totallylegit and lingal for him to draw money
out of. I mean, I'msorry, with draw money from Sam's bank

(23:30):
account, which of course was notreal. No, and again, only
a thing is stupid sixteen year oldwould believe yeah like that? What would
what was in there? Like apiece of paper said this is legal?
Like probably it probably didn't even lookat it. He was just like,
here, here's all the paper,we want to see it. And me
has a sixte year old be likenow yeah, like no, it's cool

(23:52):
by my pizza. H And thiswhole aspect of this case is actually kind
of cute because this kid is justlike very naive, and the first time
that Wesley withdrew money, he tooka long, long, long time,
and Dan was like, what thefuck do you like? What's taking you
so long? And he was like, well, I've never used to day

(24:14):
here before. I had to figureout how to do it. So adorable
to me. Oh man. Sopolice decided to reach out to Daniel because
now he's involved himself in Julie's murderand Sam's disappearance. But when they called

(24:40):
him, he told him that hewas at a bachelor party, so he
can't come his own bachelor party.Oh, that he's at his own bachelor
party. Yeah, so he can'tcome to the police station right now.
And the police were like, allright, no worries will come to you.

(25:00):
So yeah. So police went toDaniel and he was having dinner with
his friends when detectives arrested him,and Daniel said Daniel told them, Okay,
you know what, I'm tired ofcovering for Sam. I'm going to
tell you everything. At this pointin the story. My mum was like,
okay, well maybe he's withdrawing moneyfor Sam. That's what I was

(25:26):
thinking too. Yeah, like theycould be in cahoop. Yeah, Okay,
So before we tell you what hesaid, we're first going to tell
you a little more about Daniel.Okay. He was born on March twenty
three, nineteen eighty four. Hehad no job, but he did perform
in local theater productions, which I'msure he did not get paid for.
Yeah, or if he did verylittle. Yeah. He was engaged to

(25:48):
another actress named Rachel Buffetts and bothlived beneath Sam. Okay, they were
both about to be evicted from theirapartment, had no money and we're planning
a nice wedding and a honeymoon. That they had no money for money,
money, money, money, money, money, money. Where are we
going with this, guys? Soback to Dan and everything he knew.

(26:15):
Well, he told detectives that.So at first, he told detectives that
his theater performance that night, wherehe was performing with Rachel, went well,
like they like, they give afuck? Who cares? Nobody asked,
Nobody cares, Yeah, nobody caresabout your godamn performance that night.

(26:37):
He then tells detectives that, youknow, him and Rachel both went home,
they showered and had had the sexagain. Nobody nobody cares. Uh,
Then he said the next morning Samcame over and told him there was
a dead body in his apartment.Uh. He said that Sam, you

(27:00):
had killed Julie and he needed heneeded help. So of course Dan helped
Sam escape because he's a great friend. But then detectives asked Dan for DNA
to exclude himself from having any partin murdering Julie, and Dan agreed,

(27:25):
but then suddenly remember that he wasactually in Sam's apartment and had seen Julie's
body, so maybe his DNA hadgotten on her body some way, somehow
when detectives push him, he startedthis very over the top theatrical performance.

(27:48):
And so now another edition of IADCMasterclass Theater. Bernie will be playing the

(28:17):
role of Daniel and I shall beplaying the role of bald detective. Yes,
okay, ready, uh huh, yes, I saw the fucking body.
Is that what you want to hear? No, we want to hear
the truth. That is the truth. Okay, So how did your DNA
get on her because I was rightover the body. Well, DNA doesn't

(28:38):
just fall off. I don't know. Okay. I didn't touch her.
I didn't do anything. Okay, what did you see? I saw two
gunshots in her head and scene,I really think I missed my calling.

(29:00):
I think he did. So,if you guys can remember from earlier,
Julie had only one visible gunshot woundto her head. In reality, there
was two, but detectives said thatwhen you were just looking at her body,
it looked like one. Yeah,So that told them that Daniel had
been there when the shots were fired, clearly, Yeah, that he knew

(29:22):
that there was two of them, right yep. So then Daniel called his
fiance Rachel, and Rachel told himthat she was going to have to call
detectives because Tim, who was Dan'sbrother, told her that he was holding
the murderer wepper what now that hewas holding the murder weapon for Dan?

(29:42):
Okay, And she says that shedoes not want to be accused of hiding
anything for him, so she's goingto tell detectives, right, So Daniel
baked her not to say anything becausethen he will be doomed. He's so
dramatic. Honestly, how I woulddramat him, I would kill myself,

(30:03):
oh man, and probably like everythingthat happened in his life was probably such
a production, you know, yeah, gross, so annoying. Um.
But she told him Listen, we'realready on the phone. We're already talking
about this, they're already recording it. You're being an ass and I'm going
to tell the detectives what I know. So Dan decided that after that that

(30:27):
he needed to fess up for hisshit, right, he needed to confess
to his crime. Yeah, andwe're crimes yep. He then tells detectives,
I'm crazy and I killed Julie andSam. I killed them both.
And you all are probably like, why, Like, what's the motive?

(30:51):
Right, Well, he did itbecause he was broke. We already mentioned
that earlier, and Sam had savedall of his combat pay, which was
sixty two sixty two thousand dollars, and so Dan thought that that money could

(31:11):
save his ass, you know,he could he could pay for his and
Rachel's wedding and honeymoon. They wouldn'tbe evicted and life would be ride his
rain h So on May twenty first, twenty ten, when Sam went to
help Dan move something in the atticof the theater. Once Dan had him
up in the attic, he shotSam in the back of the head.

(31:33):
And I think one of the worstparts of this whole story is that Sam
didn't die, and he asked hisfriend for help. He said, something
hit me and I need your help. And instead of helping him, because
well, you know, Dan shothim. He shot him again, and
then he proceeded to cut off hishead and his hands. He left his

(31:56):
torso in the attic and took hishands and head to the Nature's Center in
El Dorado Park and buried them. And Dan said that he was smiling and
laughing as he dismembered Sam's body,which I don't know if that's true.
I feel like that all might havebeen a part of the act to make
it seem like he's crazy, yeah, so that he can claim insanity,
you know. But then after that, after he was done, he just

(32:19):
went and did his performance that night, you know, and it went well,
and it went well, and thenhim and Rachel had the sex and
then they did the sex. Yeah, which is lies. So now after
Dan was done with the performance, right or done well? Yeah, I

(32:39):
think they did like a rat party. Yeah, they did a yeah.
So after all that, Dan hadtexted Julie and lured her to Sam's apartment
to murder her to cover up Sam'smurder, which his thought was yeah,
as thought was, Okay, I'llmake it look like I'll kill her and
he looks like he went on therun, and then no one thinks of

(33:00):
me. Yeah, which ye,And that was all like working until Dan
had involved that sixteen year old childin his little scheme. Let's see that
they always go one step too far, one step too far. But it
needed a way to get the money. Yeah. H Sam's body parts were

(33:23):
recovered on what would have been histwenty seventh birthday. That's heartbreaking. I
can't imagine if that was like forthe family. Oh like, uh,
no me either. After five yearsof core proceedings, Daniel wo wasnac was
I'm sorry was Nak was finally convictedon two accounts of first degree murder and

(33:44):
he was sentenced to death in twentysixteen. I think the Nevada Wow,
the California governor has like put staysin all the executions currently, so he's
just sitting on death row. Andif during this whole storytelling, you went,
okay, So Rachel was there inthe apartment beneath Sam's So when Julie

(34:12):
was shot two times, Rachel waswith Dan the night that he murdered Sam,
like she was there a lot,you know what I'm saying? And
how did she have no idea thatthis was going on? Well, that
bitch knew. She did exactly whatwas going on in November twenty twelve,
Rachel Buffett. It might be itmight be Buffet, I forget how.

(34:37):
Anyways, Rachel was arrested and chargedwith three felony counts of accessory after the
fact because she had lied to authoritiesseveral times, and because she was covering
for Daniel, the Kibuwishi and herfamilies had to suffer through years of waiting

(34:57):
for justice for their kids. OnNovember eight wait before you had she come
forward and said, like I knowthat I know A, B and C,
then things would have wrapped up ahell of a lot faster, you
know what I mean. Yeah,And I'm not saying that she was a
part of this whole murder plot becauseshe knew what was going on. You

(35:19):
know. Yeah, maybe she wasa part of the murder plot. What
the do I know? We'll getinto that in discussion time. On November
eighth, twenty eighteen, she wassentenced to thirty two months with probation time
served and good conduct. She willend up serving one to two years now

(35:40):
discussion time. Okay, maybe shewas the brains of it all. She
was the brains of the operation, the brains of the operation. Yeah,
why do you feel that way?Just through the whole watching the whole,
like, um, the what didwhat did we watch? Because I'm pretty

(36:02):
sure you watched the same thing.I watched a twenty twenty episode that said
nothing about her. Oh the showthat I watched, mhm. One of
the one of the some of thedetectives, I don't know if it was
one of them, one of themwas like, I think that she was
behind it all. And it's beena while since I've watched it, so

(36:22):
you know, I can't give youa reason. But I was like,
after watching the whole thing, Iwas like, oh shit, maybe she
really was behind it all. Yeah, because I don't know, like that
was his friend, right, Danielm hmm. I don't know. Maybe

(36:44):
maybe it was both their idea.Who knows, because I mean, I
mean, she knew beforehand what wasgoing to happen. I believe she did.
Um. I I can't speak toany of that because I don't know.
I don't know. I didn't seeand all that I saw about her

(37:05):
was that she said that she hadnothing to do with it, and that
she wanted that she didn't want hersilence to be mistaken for callous, Like
she just didn't see anything. Ithink it was like a theory of the
detectives of that her being the brainsof the operation. But she knew,
I had a time what Daniel wasgoing to do. Because if she hadn't

(37:28):
known, why wouldn't she go upthere and see what happened after hearing two
gunshots? Like if that was me, I would have ran. And I
didn't know ahead of time what theplan was, I would have ran up
there to see what was happening.Yeah, because what if Daniel, you
know, Daniel could have been shot. You just didn't know, you know

(37:50):
what I mean? Yeah? Unlesshis thing is is like it wasn't me,
I wasn't up there, Like butyeah, but why don't you call
any one one and say I heardgunshots? Then where was he? Who
knows people lie all the time.I'm going to run into the corner store.
I'm gonna I gotta go do thisfor someone, you know, Like

(38:14):
we don't I don't know, Idon't have that information. Yeah, that
I don't know her bit chest knewshe did. Yeah, I don't know
how involved she was. I didn'tI didn't look into that aspect of this
case. Um, but for sureshe knew after the fact, you know,

(38:36):
because even like that phone call andthat job phone call when she's like
Tim, I told Tim, Iwas gonna go see you at the police
station, and he started freaking outand saying told me that he had a
bag with a murder weapon and everythingin it. Like it's very cool and
collected the way that she said itain't know what I mean. It wasn't

(38:57):
like did you do this? Likelike I would have flipped out if that
was someone I was with and theirbrother told me they had all this murder
ship from him, Like I'd belike, like, what are you talking
about? You know what I mean? But she was very like, matter
of factly, this is what happened, and like that made me believe like
she knew more than she was lettingon, right, And I think she

(39:19):
thought, oh, he's caught,so I'm gonna say, I'm gonna go
say, well, his brother hasthe murder weapon and ship, so that
they can't pinnis on me, right, Like they can't say that I was
hiding this from them. But Idon't know how long between the murderer and

(39:42):
when he was actually arrested, howlong that time period was, because I
don't think, I mean, Ifeel like it was a short amount of
time. You know, Yeah,me too. So that means that all
that time like five years worth oftrial time, Like she could have gone

(40:04):
forward and said that night he wasn'twith me, or I overheard this,
or you know what I mean.So I don't know. I think that's
partly where they got her on accessoryafter the fact. Yeah, because she
was hiding ship for him. Yeah. Also, if she was there that
night and Sam's apartment, well, she was there that night in her own

(40:27):
apartment. Sam lives directly above them, and you hear two gunshots, why
wouldn't you call the police right thenand there? Yeah? Why don't you
call nine one one if you didn'tknow what your husband was gonna do?
You supposedly and supposedly that night, they're home, right, They're at home,
they're showering, they're having sex andwhatever. Yeah, so yeah,

(40:49):
and then you don't tell them like, yeah, Dan wasn't home. Yeah,
like none of that happened, youknow, I don't know. Yeah,
it's suspicion. I wonder if thedetectives thought it was her plan because
maybe she was maybe she wore thepants in that relationship, or she was

(41:09):
smarter than him some way, somehows. Who knows, But I'm sure like
if the family thinks, well,I know, I read that the family
is like not happy with the sentencethat she was given. Right Yeah,
so, um, I don't know. I have no idea, Um I

(41:35):
think, but I'm glad that not. So I'm glad that he got death
right, like because even if she'sthe mastermind, like, he did it.
Yeah, he killed them both.Yeah, and you did it in
the most ugly way possible like this, you know, like they said that,
um, Sam was like bent downin front of him, trying to

(41:55):
move something for him, and heshot him in the back of the head.
Yeah that's someone that you're claiming tobe your friend and then he's asking
you for help after you just shothim and you shoot him at it like
it's just awful, so ugly. And I was on that twenty twenty,
I was watching two. The detectivewas saying like he not only killed him,
like he set out to kill hisreputation, Like he made it look

(42:16):
like Julie had been raped and thathe murdered her, so he made him
a murderer, a rapist, andthen he pretend made it seem like he
ran away from it all, youknow. Like so like what kind of
monster does that? I don't know. I mean, money makes people do

(42:37):
crazy fucking things, right, especiallywhen you're in desperate need of it.
Yeah, I when you're desperate forit. Yeah. And the part that's
heartbreaking, more like super heartbreaking tome. He's like Julie's death, she
was just a pawn in his game. And that's that's the thing that I

(42:57):
hate about in some cases where justan innocent person who happens to be or
happens to know the wrong people, they get mixed up in some shit like
this and they end up getting murderedfor no fucking reason at all. Yeah,
and just because and poor Sam's anice girl, you know what I
mean, Like just because she wasa nice girl, Like and her friend

(43:19):
needed help, so she went togo help her friend. Like he played
on both of those things and bothof those people, you know what I
mean. Like that's so gross.Yeah, it's horrible and all for fucking
money, all for money. Yeah, and you didn't even get it.
Now you're in jail, you fuckingidiot or prison. So I'm trying to

(43:44):
say, trying to see what they'resaying about Rachel. Yeah, they don't
say anything like like what specifically shelied about, you know what I mean,
I don't know. It's Steve's Steve, not Steve's Sam Stan Steve said

(44:05):
that. I don't know. Hejust keeps calling her a liar. Mhmm,
because she went on, she keptgoing on like national programs, insane.
I think she's another one just needsattention. Yeah, like she was
all over the TV going I hadnothing to do with this, and I
didn't even know Dan, and he'sa monster, you know, like whatever,
just trying to totally play up theyeah, the innocent role. But

(44:27):
um, I don't know. Idon't I don't know if they haven't like
released what she's lying about, youknow, I just I didn't see it
anymore. Um yeah, I don'tknow. But uh, guys, if
you have time, please go seethe fucking detective interviews that Dan has with
them. Oh my god, guy. Yeah, it's like it's not even

(44:51):
like you know, sometimes like youwatch like a police interrogation and it's like,
oh, this is like chilling towatch, right, Like, oh,
like that person's clearly a monster.Like this motherfucker is like a very
serious actor, like and not agood one, okay. It's just like
everything's like there's like a lot ofhand gestures and he's standing up and he's

(45:15):
yelling and he's like it's so overthe top, it's so stupid. It's
very theatrical. Yeah, like he'sdoing a performance theories going crazy. I
don't know, oh oh high SERI. Yeah, it's just so over the
top. It's I don't understand whatthe he just really thought. I don't
know. There was this part therewas a point in the interview when one

(45:37):
of the detectives was like, youknow what, you're not a good actor.
You're not a good actor, sojust tell us the truth. That's
probably the worst insult he could havegiven him. Oh bad. Yeah,
I don't know. The whole thingis just like it's so senseless, it's
pointless, Like and these are youngtwenty six year old lives that are now

(45:58):
you know, not twenty six,but early twenty lives that are gone.
Yeah, you have a war veteran, it's been murdered and dismembered. And
then a innocent girl who just gotcaught because she was being nice yea and
caring for her friends, sad.I'll tell you what, though, anybody
texts me in the middle night comeover, I'm I really need your hob

(46:20):
come over at midnight alone. Yeah. Well, even if it didn't say
alone, my ass isn't coming overbecause guess what, I'm asleep. I'm
asleep at eight o'clock at night andyou're not gonna wake me up at midnight.
Okay, Yeah, so he's notgonna do it. You wouldn't even
answer that text. No, Iwouldn't. I would see it and I
would go so I'll talk to themtomorrow. You wouldn't even get a car,
phones on fucking silent, never onanything but silent, very really very

(46:46):
really um And me too, likeif I get a text like that in
the middle of the night, likevery dramatic, like, I'm like,
oh, they're drunk whatever. Yeah, I'll deal with that shit tomorrow,
you know. Yeah, I don'tknow perthing, that's it. Yeah.
And then her poor mom, she'slike she's like, you know, I
raised my children to be kind andcarrying and generous. And she's like,

(47:06):
and maybe that was the wrong thingto teach them. Yeah, like that's
not the wrong thing to teach them. You taught them right, Like your
daughter just got caught in this horribleplace and time, you know, like,
ah, so unfair. Yeah,so anyways, whatever, Rachel's and
jail Daniel, Yeah, Dan,not the man. One day they reinstate

(47:32):
the death penalty and then he'll beuh not fried. We don't electrocute them
anymore. What do we do tothem? Lethal injection connection? Fry them?
What the fuck? Oh? Thatwas that was so heartless of me.
I apologize, Um, all right, well don't I don't apologize in

(47:53):
this case. Oh take a frieddangnay? Okay, do you do you
want them to not wet the sponge? Don't want the sponge? Do you
get it? I don't know, you're loft's the sponge? What? No?

(48:13):
What does that mean? If theyhave cut them, they have to
wet the sponge. But if theydon't, they're fucking brain. Everything just
fries and burns and smells. Oh. I don't want them to have to
know. I don't want them tohave to smell that smells. So I
was kidding, obviously, Sponge,But go watch screen Mile. I don't

(48:36):
know why you haven't seen that moviebecause it's so long, and I know
it's gonna make me cry, andyou know how I feel about movies that
are going to make me cry. It's such a good movie. I don't
care. Fuck you, Justine.Okay, it's the second time I've said
that this episode. Wow, it'sfine, we're friends. I didn't even
hear it the first time. Ohwell, that's the first time I said

(48:59):
this, apod. Wow, I'vebecome immune to it. I don't even
hear your name, so rude.Well, you should watch that movie.
It's a very good movie. Itwill watch the movie. It will make
you cry. But it's where canI stream it at? Oh? You
know what? I think it's onNetflix? Is it? Uh? Huh?

(49:20):
Okay, I'll watch it on Ithink I remember looking for something and
seeing a related title screen Mile.Mmm, dude, you know what I
watched, Asterny. This has nothingto do with anything, um but I
watched Interview with the Vampire. Ilike Interview with the Vampire for the first
time in like very many years nowthat I'm an adult. Those vampires are

(49:43):
gay vampires. I never realized, and I was suddenly like so impressed.
I was like, wow, thismovie was like very if they were.
Yeah, you were so ahead ofthe times. Oh my gosh, I

(50:04):
never knew. I never knew. All right, Well, so anyways,
that's that. All right, We'removing on to stranger danger. Stranger danger,
stranger danger. This is not atest. I repeat, this is
not a test. You better run, all right, guys, We're just

(50:31):
gonna do one stranger danger story thisepisode because, like I said earlier,
I have to get ready and gohave an early Thanksgiving dinner with my family.
So we're keeping this episode short. We already said that ahead of time,
all right. So first up,not for ast step, the only
one up to this episode. Wehave a stranger danger from Tony. Hey,

(50:54):
Tonny, I'm just riding in withanother stranger danger that I was witnessed
to this afternoon. I'm so angry, I'm shaking. Okay, ready,
A friend and I were getting pumpkinsand my prescription at a grocery store in
town, and these two girls, our guesses, they were fifteen between fifteen
and seventeen years old, lined upbehind us, Everything was fine for a

(51:15):
few minutes until this older gentleman latethirties early forties came up behind them,
and I noticed him, but didn'tthink much of it because I assumed it
was their dad. No joke. One minute later, this piece of shit
is hitting on these children. WhatMe and my friend gave each other looks
and then immediately told them to puttheir pumpkins up on the till, and

(51:37):
I stepped back so that I wasat least close to this piece of shit.
These girls do the thing we alldo, laugh uncomfortably as this oh
let me do this the way Tonytyped it. Okay, please, as
this grown ass man is flirting withthem, thank you for doing that,

(51:58):
Just stave. They're welcome. Hethen has the audacity to say, oh,
I'm not hitting on you, don'tworry as he looks them up and
down while staring at the girl's chest. Stop it. My girlfriend sees this
and loudly declares that she has noships left to give and will murder someone
with her gaze eye contact with thisloser. It was the middle of the

(52:20):
afternoon, but still we weren't aboutto let this creep follow these girls out,
so when we've paid, we'd goand sit outside on the benches by
the exit. The girls come outa few minutes later and thank us.
We didn't see where the guy went. Probably home to his mom's basement.
I don't know, probably anyway,Please be aware of the people around you,
and if you see something shady, say something, even if it's just

(52:44):
with a look. The worst thingthat happens is it's a misunderstanding, Like
I really could have been one oftheir dens. But if I was a
young high school girl trying to livemy best spooky life and some creepy douchebag
decided to look me up and downwhile he's telling me he's not hitting on
me, I would have appreciated oneperson acknowledging what was going on, checking
and see if I was safe,Just being present and aware. We need

(53:07):
to react to things like this,so grown ass men don't think it's appropriate
to approach young girls or anyone likethis in public. If you have to
tell someone that you're not hitting onthem, chances are you're reading their body
language and understand that they're uncomfortable, but choose to keep hitting on them anyway,
Stay safe and say something. Ilove your girls. Tanny, Oh,

(53:27):
thank you Tanny. And wait togo Tony, Yes, you and
your friends. Yeah, wait togo to you guys. Um. Yeah,
I feel like so many people seeshit like that happening, but they
don't say anything. Yeah, andI feel like that needs to change.
If you see what do we sayhere? Justine? If you see something,
say something something, Yeah, don'tjust see you have to don't just

(53:51):
let shit like that happen, yeah, because that perver is going to keep
doing that shit over and over andover and make young teenage girls, making
other young teenage girls feel uncomfortable.Mm hmm. Yeah, you can't be
acting like that. It be actinglike that at all. Shut it down,
Shut it down, it down walreference for anyone that doesn't know what

(54:17):
that's a new girl reference. Yeah, well, thank thank you for your
story. Yes, thank you Tonyfor your story. And wait till we
have so. Oh you know whatbefore I say that? It really annoys
when when someone's like, you're uncomfortable, so they're like, oh, I'm
not doing that thing that's clearly makingyou uncomfortable. Yeah, it's like mm

(54:39):
hmmm, you know you are becausethey start getting called out on that,
like oh I'm not hitting you onyou okay, even why are you hitting
on me? Yeah? The fuckstupid ass people anyways, all right,
that is our one Stranger Danger forthis week. Yeah, and call people
