This may be the  shortest podcast in our journey exploring transformational leadership. However, it may have the longest shelf life.

The diary grooming process is an ultra-short (five minute) process of reviewing your day as a transformational leader. It is a process of finding the areas of your leadership that are going well and accentuating them, along with the areas that are not going well and reducing or eliminating them. It's all about optimisation, it's about getting your 'flywheel of life' turning as efficiently as possible and maintaing it at peak health.

Diary grooming/optimisation is similar to dressing for work every day. You remove the clothes worn to bed, shower, and put on clean clothes appropriate for the day ahead. Then stepping forward for your bright new day envigerated...

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Pull ahi, oh, I'm welcome by how did you get
on last week with the praising principle? This week we're
going to learn a simple five minute process for taking
what we've learned in the praising principle and making it
real world and actionable. It's about as intimated last week,

(00:25):
saying no to others, lonever accepting no for an answer.
It's I'm going to talk about. It's a diary grooming process,
diary optimization. It's a five minute process of reviewing your
day as a transformational leader. It's a process of finding

(00:49):
the areas of leadership that are going well and doing
more of them, doing more of them along with the
areas are not going so well, reducing her eliminating them.
Diary grooming is similar to dressing for work every day.
Here the clothes worn to ben your pajamas wherever it is, shower,

(01:17):
and then put on clean clothes appropriate for the day ahead.
If you have no client or customer meetings, you may
wear lightweight jogging pants or jeans. If the customer meetings
on your schedule, you may wear dress trousers, maybe a

(01:38):
sports coat whatever it is. Nowadays, however, the desk are
particularly post COVID. It's very relaxed in what we're wearing.
In either case, we look at our day ahead decide
the best way to dress for our day coming coming

(01:59):
ahead of it. The same holds true for diary grooming process,
except it the grooming doesn't happen in the morning. It
happens at the end of the day and takes less
time than it does to drink your first cup of
coffee or tea in the morning. There are two versions
and three simple steps to diary grooming. The first version

(02:25):
is an a Bruinship Porthol daily check in that involves
taking five minutes to answer five questions. Verson two involves
twenty to thirty minutes once a week and once per
month to review your previous observation and really find out

(02:46):
of a more targeted and powerful next steps. The power
and version two comes from the data points you have
as well as the edition of more questions. Here here's
five questions for you to ponder over the diary grooming.

(03:07):
Number one, where was I most successful today in living
living out my purpose, priorities and promises? What to do well?
What air of it? Two? What allowed me to be
successful and be specific drilled down into human factors root cause? Three?

(03:29):
Where was I unsuccessful in living out my purpose promises?
What can I do better? Four? What insights can I
glean about? What allowed me to be unsuccessful? What is
it getting into detail? Five? What's the one thing that
I'll do tomorrow in order to use the insights I got?

(03:51):
I got with these question to my advantage. One were
we most successful? To what allowed you to be successful? Three?
What was unsuccessful at? What insights can I glean? And finally,
it's the one thing that I can do differently and
do better tomorrow. What I'm suggesting to you and others

(04:14):
have found if you do this daily for ninety days,
you'll invested aye four hundred and fifty minutes out of
one hundred and twenty nearly one hundred and thirty thousand minutes.
You have that point zero zero percent three percent of

(04:35):
the minutes allocated to you, But you've been asleep for
a third of that, so you only have eighty six thousand,
four hundred minutes. That means you've invested point zero zero
five percent of the time. This is a fraction of
the time you have available. But like the parable of

(04:59):
the mustard see moving mountains. Diary grooming can with a
mindset of passionate innovation and girls move the mountain the mountain.
That's your leadership in really successful ways. Difference version two.
Version two requires two additional steps to additional questions, and

(05:24):
most people find about thirty minutes at the weekend to
review your diary completely. Think it is the end of
a end of the play in your favorite spot. In hindsight,
what went well? When you think of the week as
a whole thing as opposed to individual days, look at

(05:47):
the whole week, How did it run for you? How
did it go for you? Ask yourself the same questions
as you did all week one moll shift. You ask
about the week as a posed to today. The main
purpose is to see your week holistically, in totality rather

(06:08):
than daily. In doing this, you raise your gaze from
the things that we need to do a single days.
You'll have more of a helicopter and over your broader perspective.
You'll expand your perservation. See around the corner. You can
think with more clarity, But what you need to do

(06:31):
next week? For a moment or two about Type A personalities?
You know who you are. You're the ones that want
to be proactive. I need you action. Who are doers
who say yes I can't, Yes I will. That's the
mindset I would like you and my team because of

(06:55):
who you are and how you're about doing things. But
let you stop for a moment. This might seem counterintuitive.
If you want to go faster for five minutes, go
slower to groom your try ay. You'll move your needle
and key issues with greater effectiveness by taking five minutes

(07:17):
each day to answer the questions I've given you. There,
through the prison of praising and purification, the actions of
those that you work with. Your actions, the ones you
work with, will become the laser focused and allow you
to accelerate towards your destination. Do it, try it, and

(07:39):
see how successful you become. So that's it, summering the
diary purification optimization process. One Where was I most successful
to tea? Two? What allowed me to be successful? Three?
Where was it unsuccessful? For what insights? Can I mean? Five?

(08:01):
What's the one thing I'll do differently to take it
to the next level. I'll leave you with another question.
If it was impossible to fail, what would I do
to dream there and dazzle the work until next week.
